PLEASE NOTE THIS STREET IS IN THE BLACKFRIARS AREA AND NOT NEAR VICTORIA STATION.

Our meeting points are easily accessible from most parts of London.  They are carefully chosen to allow each tour to depart efficiently, and less time wasted in traffic.  Early departure times mean less time in rush hour traffic.

Use the Journey Planner at www.tfl.gov.uk to find the quickest route or email us at [email protected] if you need travel advice to get to the meeting point.

Tour Operators in London do not offer pick-ups from individual hotels throughout the city. London is one of the biggest cities in the world and therefore, this would take a lot of time. Using the London Underground is the fastest way to travel to our departure points.

Our policy is to leave early to get ahead of all the traffic that can often delay a journey in London. This means that we arrive at our first stop, such as Stonehenge before crowds arrive! We firmly believe that is this great for our clients, as sites can become very congested with visitors. We understand that the early start means you have to wake up earlier during your holidays, but it is well worth the effort to have a much more enjoyable and relaxed day’s touring. Most hotels provide an early morning breakfast option!

Please arrive at your meeting point at least 10 minutes before departure and please allow ample time for your journey, as it is not uncommon to have slight delays on the London Underground.  If using a taxi or private hire service, please be aware journeys take longer at peak times and allow ample time for your journey, especially on weekdays.

Moscow Kremlin & the Armoury

  • Description

Moscow Kremlin & the Armoury

You will learn about the Kremlin’s rich history and learn about how it has developed over eight centuries, from its origin as a wooden fortress. The Kremlin’s architecture reflects the country’s history: the 15th-century walls, the magnificent 16th- and 17th-century cathedrals, the 18th-century Arsenal and Senate, the majestic 19th-century Grand Kremlin Palace and Armoury, and the huge Palace of Congresses, built during the Soviet period. On this guided walking tour you will see the territory of the Kremlin, including the famous Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon - the largest bell and cannon in the world. The main focus of the tour is a visit to the Armoury Chamber - Moscow’s first, and possibly its most important museum.

The Armoury Chamber was built in 1851, along with the Grand Kremlin Palace, but its history goes back much further than that. It was Peter the Great who decided to merge the Kremlin’s collection of armour and weapons with the Treasury of the Russian Tsars, and the Armoury, as the collection became known, was opened to the public as Moscow’s first museum in the early 19th century. After the Revolution many religious treasures were added to the collection and it now includes more than 4,000 items.

Enthusiasts of military history will be fascinated by the unique collection of historical armour and weapons, many of which date back to Russia’s medieval wars with the Golden Horde. The precious religious artifacts and the royal treasure are witnesses to the Kremlin’s past as Russia’s spiritual centre, where generations of Tsars were crowned and buried. Visitors will admire the grand state carriages used by the Tsars, elaborate ceremonial costumes, Russia’s ancient state regalia including the famous Monomakh Cap, and the jewelled Faberge eggs collected by the family of Nicholas II, the last Tsar. And much more - the Kremlin Armoury is a real treasure-house of gold, silver, jewellery and applied arts.

Highlights of the tour:

  • A walk around the territory of the Kremlin, with its cathedrals, palaces, and the giant bronze Tsar Bell and Tsar Cannon
  • Russia’s state regalia, including the medieval Monomakh cap worn by Ivan the Terrible when he was crowned the first Tsar of Russia
  • A unique collection of historical weapons and armour including the swords used by Minin and Pozharsky
  • Tsarina Catherine the Great’s beautiful coronation dress, the double throne made for the young Princes Ivan and Peter, and a unique collection of state carriages

Join us, you will certainly not regret it!
