Grand Prix Season Singapore 2022 revs up with bigger and more exciting lifestyle experiences across the city

Sentosa will also host a precinct party for the first time, with fresh offerings for families and beach-lovers

Singapore, 14 September 2022 – Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS) returns from 23 September to 2 October 2022 after a two-year hiatus, with a diverse collection of  innovative race-themed lifestyle offerings that caters to all ages and interests. These complement the Formula 1 (F1) Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix experience, and encourage locals and visitors to explore and enjoy what Singapore has to offer.

Precinct Parties

The precinct parties that made a successful debut in 2019 are back at four locations – including a first for Sentosa this year, with island-exclusive experiences targeted at families and beach-lovers. Other parties at Orchard Road, Clarke Quay and Kampong Gelam will be expanded, with an exciting line-up of race-themed offerings that showcases the very best of what each precinct has to offer.

At Orchard Road , visitors can shop at an auto-themed flea market at *SCAPE or take part in race-themed, arcade game-based challenges at the Heineken Silver Smooooth Pit Stop outside Ngee Ann City. Performances by percussionists and flash mobs will enliven the city’s famous shopping belt, alongside visual spectacles like “A Big Big World” – a sustainability exhibition showcasing works of art fashioned from recycled cardboard, including a five-metre-long race car.

Singapore’s vibrant nightlife scene makes a comeback at Clarke Quay , with themed parties such as Retro Rocks and Girls' Night Out, and regionally-acclaimed DJs spinning the decks. Adding to the excitement will be race-inspired fashion shows and a race-themed carnival, where visitors can get their blood pumping with group fitness workouts.

Visitors can get their dose of culture and heritage over at Kampong Gelam from daily stage performances by local acts like Bushmen and Raw Energy, while enjoying a carnival-like atmosphere at the inaugural Food Yard, which dishes out halal fusion cuisine out of food trucks. Adrenaline-seekers can check out the All-Style street dance battles and freestyle BMX bike challenges or experience the thrills of an F1 race through an immersive F1 roving truck, before catching a film at the silent cinema under the stars.

For some family-friendly fun, Sentosa offers a one-of-a-kind, race-themed experience away from the city. Visitors can immerse in music performances at the Central Beach Bazaar, or hop into racing simulators for an Ultimate Red Bull Racing Experience, before unwinding with race-inspired film screenings.

World-first gathering of McLaren supercars

Motorheads can visit the McLaren: The Legacy Lives On showcase at Suntec Convention Centre, to catch a glimpse of the new McLaren Artura, the British automotive manufacturer’s first High-Performance Hybrid supercar. A collection of McLaren production cars (dating from 2011 up to the latest model) will also be on display for the first time, and will include two never-before-seen models.

Take the wheel with a life-sized LEGO® McLaren

In a first-of-its-kind partnership between LEGO ® Group and McLaren Racing, a life-sized LEGO ® replica of the sleek McLaren Formula 1 race car will make its Southeast Asian debut at Orchard Road. Just like the real deal, visitors can sit in the life-sized LEGO® Technic McLaren Formula 1™ Race Car , which took almost 1,900 hours to construct, and is made up of some 288,000 LEGO ® bricks. Avid fans can also purchase an exclusive collectible version, and join in activities such as the LEGO ® brick building speed challenges on-site to get in the spirit of the race.

Get up close and personal with F1 drivers at the Williams Racing experience

British Formula 1 team Williams Racing will be hosting an immersive pop-up experience for fans at Suntec City ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix. The experience features a range of exhibits and activities, including exclusive merchandise, e-sports rigs and a free public meet and greet with the drivers – Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi. Fast and furious with sim racing

HyperDrive Cities 2022 at *SCAPE is an inaugural hybrid event that focuses on providing online to offline experiences that include sim racing, lifestyle, entertainment and electric karting. Alternatively, sim racing fans can join the motorsport community in the SIM Racing Carnival 2022 at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, where they can try out top-level simulators and catch professional players in action.

Indulge in a race-themed farm-to-table experience at 1-Arden

For its 9 th edition, 1-Altitude's iconic GPSS program 'The Circuit' will take place at the sky-high 1-Arden, which will be transformed into a real-life racetrack with pit stops and a podium photobooth. Besides an exciting line-up of live entertainment, the innovative hybrid day and night venue will also feature Food Forest Tours and Educational Workshops showcasing Singapore's unique approaches to tackling climate change and farm-to-table culinary experiences.

Amber Lounge makes a comeback

The highly-anticipated Amber Lounge will return this year with its ultra-luxe post-race party at Fullerton Bay Hotel’s The Clifford Pier. Guests can enjoy cocktails made by award-winning bartenders, mingle with members of the F1 racing fraternity and enjoy world-class entertainment including immersive theatrical cabaret and cirque-themed performances.

Formula 1 heads under the lights at Marina Bay Street Circuit as the sport’s original night race makes a welcome return. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of attending the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix weekend on September 20-22!

The 2023 Singapore Grand Prix will bring the usual mix of on track action and off track events that F1’s original night race has become renowned for since making its first appearance in 2008. The 20 drivers will race on a revised layout of the Marina Bay Street Circuit in 2023, owing to renovation works on the foreshore. 

The Singapore Grand Prix made a highly successful return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2022. The first event since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic attracted a record 302,000 fans over the weekend. On track, Charles Leclerc secured pole position but Sergio Perez prevailed in the challenging drying conditions to secure another street circuit win.

F1 Events Taking Place Away From the Circuit

Singapore will be embracing Formula 1’s presence in the lead up to the Grand Prix with a number of special events across the city. There’ll be parties, specially curated menus in restaurants, DJ sets in Singapore’s leading nightclubs and much more! How to Get to Marina Bay Street Circuit

Singapore benefits from an efficient public transport system and ample, reliable taxi services. With Marina Bay Street Circuit located in the city centre, it couldn’t be easier to get to the track. We recommend using the metro for getting around during 2023 Singapore Grand Prix weekend.

Attendance Set to Reach 250,000

The Singapore Grand Prix had been ranking within the top five best-attended races of the season before it was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. When it returned after a three-year absence in 2022, it dropped to the ninth best-attended race of the year. 

However, the number of attendees increased in 2022 compared to 2019. While 268,000 passed through the circuit gates over the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix, the figure rose to 302,000  in 2022 – the highest number in the event’s history.

Since 2019, worldwide interest in the sport has increased and attendance figures have grown across the board. Prior to 2022, the Singapore Grand Prix last attracted in excess of 300,000 spectators in its inaugural year. 

Attendance at the event will fall in 2023, with organisers expecting 250,000 in attendance over the Grand Prix weekend. That’s not due to a decline in popularity but rather the closure of the large and popular Bay Grandstand due to the development work in the foreshore area. According to race organisers, tickets for the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix have almost sold out.

Yet to secure tickets for the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix? A limited number of grandstand seats remain available in our Singapore GP ticket shop , while grandstand & hospitality packages are also still available via F1 Experiences .

How Much Will a Trip to the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix Cost?

The Marina Bay race isn’t the cheapest to attend. Of the 23 planned races in 2023, the Singapore Grand Prix ranks as the eighth most expensive when it comes to the average price of three-day tickets. Thanks to the addition of F1’s two new American races in Miami and Las Vegas, Singapore drops from having the sixth most expensive General Admission tickets in 2019 to the eighth most expensive in 2023. 

If you fancy a view of the pit-lane from your grandstand, tickets will set you back over $1,000 USD on average. They’re the fourth most expensive tickets of this type in the 2023 season, behind only Mexico and the aforementioned American races.

We estimate that the average fan will spend $2,500 SGD on a trip to the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix. That figure includes 3-day grandstand seats, a 3-night stay in a hotel, plus daily spending money. Trackside at Marina Bay Street Circuit

Be prepared for hot and humid weather for the Grand Prix weekend, but don’t be surprised if you’re caught in a seasonal downpour – like we saw last year! 

Formula 1 is not the only single-seater series on offer over this year’s Singapore Grand Prix weekend. Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and TSS The Super Series will also be racing. Furthermore, the F1 drivers will be making appearances on the Wharf Stage in Zone 1 on Friday and Saturday.

Post Malone, Robbie Williams & More to Perform

There are a wide range of acts performing on multiple stages across the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, adding to the festival atmosphere of the event. Robbie Williams headlines after the race on Sunday, while Post Malone will take to the stage after qualifying on Saturday night. Further sets from Madness, Groove Armada, Kings Of Leon and The Kooks take place across the Padang and Wharf stages.

If you want a good spot for one of the headline concerts, you may have to sacrifice watching some of the on-track action; a minor flaw of the tight scheduling on an otherwise unforgettable weekend!

Gates open at 2:30pm, but you can come in whenever you want during the afternoon. The Robbie Williams concert starts after the race ends, around 10pm and finishes around midnight. Have a great time!

2024 IndyCar Detroit Grand Prix - Start time, TV schedule and more

The 2024 IndyCar Series returns this weekend (Friday May 31st to Sunday June 2nd) for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix .

The season's sixth race comes just one week after the Indy 500, which saw Team Penske's Josef Newgarden win the showpiece event for the second year in a row.

As for the IndyCar driver's standings after round five, defending champion Alex Palou leads the way with 183 points, twenty ahead of New Zealand veteran Scott Dixon who is in second.

This weekend, we head to Michigan for the Detroit Grand Prix, and here is what the next few days have in store for IndyCar fans.

Friday, May 31st IndyCar Practice - 1:50pm ET (11:50am PT) IMSA Qualifying - GTD Pro - 4:40pm ET (2:40pm PT) IMSA Qualifying - GTP - 5:05pm ET (3:05pm PT) Saturday, June 1st Indy NXT qualifying - 11:20am ET (9:20am PT) IndyCar Qualifying - 12:15pm ET (10:15am PT) IMSA race - 3:10pm ET (1:10pm PT) Sunday, June 2nd Indy NXT race - 10:30am ET (8:30am PT) IndyCar race - 12:30pm ET (10:30am PT)

TV and radio coverage

For both practice sessions, qualifying and Sunday's race, US fans can watch online at Indycarlive.com , on Peacock TV, or listen to the session on SiriusXM IndyCar Nation and IndyCar Radio.

Meanwhile, USA Network will be broadcasting the race only, with coverage starting from 12:00pm ET (10:00am PT).

What happened last race?

Following several early crashes, the race ultimately came down to a final lap showdown between Newgarden and McLaren star, Pato O'Ward.

Entering the last lap right behind O'Ward, Newgarden timed his move to perfection, sling-shotting his way past the Mexican to take a famous win - while 2008 winner Scott Dixon came home in third place.

The Empress Grandstand will delight your Singapore Grand Prix Experience with fantastic views of turns 11 and 12 in Marina Bay. This Grandstand is situated right next to the Victoria Theatre, and gives spectators a prime opportunity to see the cars brake and negotiate the curves right in front of the grandstand before speeding up to pass through the famous Anderson-Bridge arch.

A ticket for Empress Grandstand provides access to Zone 4.

This grandstand includes numbered seating and views of a large television screen, so you can keep up with all the action around the circuit.   

Situated a short walk from Gate Empress & Fullerton, this is an easy grandstand to access, with plenty of facilities such as restrooms and cafes nearby.
