They’re among the best in Canada and now they’re once again in Windsor.
The Windsor Championship, a PGA Tour Canada tournament, teed off Thursday morning with 156 players at the Ambassador Golf Club.
The tournament is one of 10 stops on the Fortinet Cup schedule across Canada and Minnesota — and is in Windsor for the first time since 2019.
American Davis Lamb, the current No. 1 ranked player on the PGA Tour Canada, is one to look out for, said tournament director Adam Wagner.

But watch out for the Canadians, too, he said.
“If you go back and you look at the Canadian Amateur, the last time it was hosted here, I believe it was 2021, and the players who finished one through four as amateurs are now here as professionals playing in the event.
“I think it’s a really cool storyline, a really cool synergy to amateur golf in Canada converting into professional golf, and just a fact of how good these players are.”
Among the Canadians in the tournament is LaSalle’s Thomas DeMarco, 26, who teed off Thursday.
All golfers will play the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday, with play continuing over the weekend for those who make the cut.
Having the PGA Tour Canada return to Windsor is “huge” for the city, Wagner said. And it serves as a fundraiser for Transition to Betterness, a charity that provides comfort to patients and their families impacted by a life-altering illness.
“The PGA tour leaves a footprint in the community,” Wagner said. “With the money that we’re able to raise for charity, the community interaction and then certainly the economic impact that this tour has … it’s great for the city.”
In the previous two Windsor stops prior to the pandemic, the Windsor Championship paid out $400,000 in prize money and drew more than 10,000 spectators while raising more than $210,000 for the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County Inc.
Almost 250 volunteers help stage the Windsor Championship — which helps put Windsor on the Canadian golf map.
Despite recent rains, the course is in “fantastic shape,” Wagner said Wednesday. “It’s drying out nicely, which is what the players are looking for and what the players want heading into a four-day tournament here, so we’re pretty excited.
“We’re hoping for a great four days of weather and golf.”
Tickets are available at the door, $10 for a daily pass and $25 for a weekly pass, which is good through Sunday. Children 14 and under are free and so is parking.

Here's the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open
Vaughn Ridley
You’ll pardon if there was a “hold your breath” kind of feel at this week’s RBC Canadian Open. After all, the past two years the event has been played in the shadow of off-course drama that has threatened to leave the historic national event somewhat forgotten—if not for impressive victories from Rory McIlroy and Nick Taylor.
In 2022, LIV Golf’s inaugural event was being played concurrently outside London, but McIlroy’s closing 62 at St. George’s Golf & Country Club allowed him to defend his title from 2019 (COVID had cancelled tournaments in 2020 and 2021), grab his then 21st PGA Tour title and provide an answer to the rival circuit’s opening salvo.
Then last year, the shocking framework agreement between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (LIV’s financial engine) was announced on June 6, Tuesday of Canadian Open week, and threw the entire golf world for a loop. Once again, though, the on-course action stole back the headlines come Sunday when Taylor rolled in a 72-foot eagle putt in a playoff against Tommy Fleetwood to become the first Canadian to win his national Open in 69 years.
This year's return to Hamilton Golf & Country Club for the first time since 2019 was, thankfully, less eventful. Of course, many are hoping there would be more final-round theatrics this time around. And Robert MacIntyre gave them a bit, the PGA Tour rookie from Scotland with his father on the bag, claiming his first tour title with a closing two-under 68 and earning the first-place prize money payout of $1.693 million from an overall purse of $9.4 million.
Here are the prize money payouts for the entire field.

HAMILTON, Ontario — Rookie Robert MacIntyre claimed his first PGA Tour title at the RBC Canadian Open. He did so with his father, Dougie, serving as the emergency caddie this week. It was a cool story for the two-time DP World Tour winner and member of the winning European Ryder Cup team in Rome.
But it also comes with a sweet seven-figure check. MacIntyre took home $1.692 million from a purse of $9.4 million. Not bad for a week’s work and for the 27-year-old pride of Oban, Scotland. In fact, he more than doubled his earnings for his previous 15 starts in which he had banked $1,133,146.

The 2024 RBC Canadian Open prize money payout is from the $9.4 million purse, with 69 professional players who complete four rounds at Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, earning PGA Tour prize money this week.
The winner's share of RBC Canadian Open prize pool is at $1,692,000, with the second-place finisher taking home $1,024,600 in PGA Tour prize money today. The RBC Canadian Open prize-money payout breakdown shows a payout of 18 percent of the purse to the winner, and how much each PGA Tour player earns is guaranteed down to the last-place professional player, which is $19,458.
For 2024 RBC Canadian Open results and payout , see our final leaderboard
The RBC Canadian Open field is headed by Robert MacIntyre, Tommy Fleetwood , Ryan Fox and more. The PGA Tour leaderboard is topped by MacIntyre, who has a sizable edge heading into the final round.
This tournament started with 156 players, and a cut was made this week after two rounds. Every professional player in the field is paid for completing the event, but how much each player is paid at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open from the correct 2024 RBC Canadian Open full-field payout is based on their finish.
The 36-hole cut was made to the top 65 players and ties, with every player able to move up in the final round.
The 2024 RBC Canadian Open prize money payout is set ahead of the event, with the PGA Tour typically adding money to the purse if more than 65 professionals make the cut to ensure all players are paid, as is the case this week.
What else is on the line
Beyond money, there are important points, perks and benefits on the line for the field -- in particular, the tournament winner.
The winner of this event will get 500 FedEx Cup points, as will be the practice for all standard events in 2024.
Additionally, there are 48 Official World Golf Ranking points on the line for the winner.
While this event offers a significant payday, the win comes with enhanced PGA Tour status. The winner gets a two-year PGA Tour exemption, into the Signature events for the rest of the year, and it goes a long way into getting that player into the 2025 Signature events.

The PGA Tour returned to the 'Great White North' for this year's RBC Canadian Open. While not one of the signature events on the PGA's schedule, for this year at least, Canada's Open never fails to deliver a great spectacle with some of sports' most passionate fans.
This year's Canadian Open winner would join an illustrious list of names to have won one of the sport's longest-running events. After crowning one of its own as champion last year, fans hoped another contender would emerge going into the final round of this year's historic and prestigious tournament.
Two-time PGA Tour winner and Canada's own, Mackenzie Hughes, appeared ready to take up the challenge after rounds of 64 and 67 had the 33-year-old well-positioned going into the final round. It was Scotsman, Robert MacIntyre, however, who took control of the event on Moving Day at Hamilton Golf & Country Club following an astonishing finish.
A dramatic finish to his third round at this year's RBC Canadian Open saw MacIntyre turn what once was a four-shot deficit into a four-stroke advantage after a run of three consecutive birdies and an eagle down the stretch resulted in a 4-under 66 for the man from Oban, Scotland.
With his dad on the bag, the two-time DP World Tour winner and 2023 European Ryder Cup debutant would look to earn his first PGA Tour win at this year's RBC Canadian Open. For the second straight week on the PGA Tour, a player would take a commanding four-shot lead into a final round.
Robert MacIntyre ties the largest 54-hole lead on TOUR this season, becoming the fifth player to lead by four through three rounds. Each of the previous four went on to win. https://t.co/jYm3PIeTqP — PGA TOUR Communications (@PGATOURComms) June 2, 2024
A group of challengers, including Mackenzie Hughes, found themselves within touching distance of MacIntyre's lead and would look to take advantage of any slip-ups by the leader in the final round. All were vying for not only one of the most prestigious titles on the calendar but also a significant winner's share of this year's RBC Canadian Open prize purse.
Exactly how much prize money was on the line at this year's RBC Canadian Open, though? Let's take a look at the full purse breakdown, winner's prize money, and payout distribution by finishing position at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open.
RBC Canadian Open purse 2024: Total purse and winner's prize money
The purse for this year's RBC Canadian Open is set at $9.4 million for 2024 with this year's champion set to earn a substantial winner's share of $1.692 million in prize money; 18% of this year's overall purse. The impressive $9.4 million purse is an increase from last year's RBC Canadian Open which saw $9 million in prize money divvied out to the field at Oakdale Golf & Country Club. While these numbers may pale in comparison to the massive purses on offer at this season's signature events and major championships, the 2024 RBC Canadian Open purse still ranks amongst the highest prize purses on offer for events without that designated status this year.
RBC Canadian Open payout distribution by finishing position in 2024
Here is a look at the payout distribution breakdown by finishing position for this year's RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf & Country Club.
Even without signature event status in 2024, the Top 22 finishers in this year's RBC Canadian Open are guaranteed over $100,000 in prize payouts, while the Top 10 at Hamilton this year will each walk away with over $250k. Meanwhile, the Top 2 at this year's Canadian Open will earn seven-figure paydays.
In addition to lifting the iconic trophy, and earning a handsome payday, the 2024 RBC Canadian Open winner will also secure their spot in each of this season's remaining signature events (if not previously exempt already). They will also earn a crucial 500 FedEx Cup points in the season-long race to East Lake and the 2024 Tour Championship this Autumn.

Points and payouts: Robert MacIntyre takes home $1.69M, 500 FedExCup points

Father’s Day isn’t for another two weeks but that won’t stop Robert MacIntyre and his dad, Dougie, from celebrating early.
With his father serving as his caddie at the RBC Canadian Open, Robert MacIntyre prevailed by one stroke at Hamilton Golf & Country Club at 16-under 264.
It’s the lefty’s first victory on the PGA TOUR and the first breakthrough win in Canada’s national championship since Nathan Green at Glen Abbey Golf Club in 2009. MacIntyre earns 500 FedExCup points and $1,692,000.
The champ was +8000 to win pre-tournament at BetMGM, so despite the pedigree, this win very much was not anticipated, but he commissioned his father to join him in Canada as he navigated the marketplace for a permanent caddie. In the process, the father-son tandem shared what no doubt will be a permanent memory.
MacIntyre leaves Canada with a boatload of playing opportunities. For starters, he’s now exempt into the final two Signature Events – this week’s Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and the Travelers Championship on June 20-23. The victory will vault him from 76th to about 40th in the Official World Golf Ranking from which the top 60 at the conclusion of the Memorial will be exempt into the U.S. Open. He’s already in The Open Championship but he’s now exempt into the 2025 editions of The Sentry, THE PLAYERS Championship, the Masters and the PGA Championship. His PGA TOUR membership exemption also is extended through 2026 via the winners category.
Runner-up honors at Hamilton were secured by Ben Griffin (+6600), who was also in pursuit of his first PGA TOUR title. Fellow TOUR non-winner and DP World Tour graduate Victor Perez checked up another stroke back in third. The Frenchman was +15000 to win.
Tournament favorite Rory McIlroy (+400) tied for fourth with Tom Kim (+3300). McIlroy was chasing both his third victory in the RBC Canadian Open and this season. Kim hadn’t logged a top-15 finish this year.
Defending champion Nick Taylor (+6000) missed the cut, so the honor of low Canadian was snared by Corey Conners (+2500) alone in sixth place. He edged his fellow Canuck, Mackenzie Hughes (+4000), by two strokes.
