Kuwait to reopen family visit visas for expats

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: There is a growing trend to reinstate the acceptance of family visit visa applications. After a hiatus lasting several months, Kuwait may once again allow families to apply for visit visas, enabling them to reunite with their loved ones in the country.

In recent developments, Kuwait is set to reopen family visa applications after completing the necessary procedures and requirements related to visa issuance. The eligibility criteria for applicants will include salary and job considerations, with priority given to first-degree relatives.

These developments signify a positive shift in Kuwait’s visa policies, catering to various aspects of social life and strengthening family ties.

Minister Talal Al-Khaled issued a decision to introduce a new clause to Article 4 of Ministerial Resolution No. 957/2019. This amendment establishes a new type of entry visa for practicing sports, cultural, or social activities in Kuwait, reports Al Rai. The visa will be granted by the General Directorate of Residence Affairs upon submission of a request by recognized sports clubs, accredited cultural and social institutions, bodies, or associations, in adherence to the guidelines set by the General Directorate of Residence Affairs.

Under this decision, the visa allows temporary residence in Kuwait for a duration of 3 months, with the possibility of renewal for up to one year from the date of entry, as stipulated in Article 11 of Amiri Decree No. 17 of 1959.

The move to grant visas for sports, cultural, or social activities for a period of 3 months, with the option for extension, has received praise from sources. They believe it will facilitate various related activities and stimulate economic and commercial movement in the country.

Moreover, the Ministry of Interior is currently working on implementing a specialized mechanism to streamline the visa application process. This includes introducing electronic appointments to streamline the review process at the residence affairs departments in accordance with established procedures.

Handling rejections and appeals for a Kuwait visit visa requires careful attention to the reasons for denial, adherence to applicable appeal procedures, and thoughtful consideration of reapplication or alternative options. While a rejection is undoubtedly a setback, understanding the underlying issues and taking proactive steps to address them can lead to a positive resolution.

Whether for tourism, business, family visits, or special events, approaching rejections and appeals with clarity, persistence, and responsibility enhances the likelihood of success and reinforces the commitment to a legitimate and meaningful visit to Kuwait.

Visit Visas could return under new conditions

Share Options

KUWAIT: Official sources revealed that the Ministry of Interior will issue new conditions regarding family visas at the end of this year. Family visas have been suspended for over a year ago, in implementation of ministerial directives to re-evaluate the mechanisms for their issuance and applying new mechanisms that prevent visitors overstaying their permit. Sources told Kuwait Times they expect the new conditions to be publicized in December.

“The new mechanism is almost ready and will be submitted to the Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled in the coming period,” sources said. “It will include a granting a special card to the visitor and mandating the visitor gets health insurance, whether they are a son, daughter, or parent of a child older than 16 years old or a parent and their child.”

Visas won’t be issued for a resident’s brother or sister, sources said. They added that the health insurance fee could reach up to KD 500 and the visit period can’t exceed one month. “Fees for issuing a visit visa could increase by 100 percent from what was applied in the past,” sources added.

The new conditions include that the applicant promises that a visitor leaves the country immediately after the end of the visit period. If they do not leave, the resident who applied for their visa will be legally accountable and subjected to financial and administrative punishment, including permanently banning them from issuing a visit visa, sources said.

Kuwait lifts visa ban on Philippines workers

Kuwait grapples with power outages amid high temperatures, kuwait fire leaves 24 families in india's kerala state bereft.

KUWAIT CITY (AFP): Kuwait said Monday it would lift a visa ban on domestic workers from the Philippines after a year-long suspension sparked by a row over the rights of employers and employees.

An interior ministry statement carried by the official KUNA news agency said the oil-rich Gulf state and Manila had reached an "agreement to resume the recruitment of domestic workers" after a "breakthrough" in talks.

"The countries agreed to form a joint committee pertinent to domestic labour affairs," the statement said.

This "would convene in a routine manner to address any sticking points that could potentially emerge", it added.

Kuwait suspended all new visas for Philippine nationals in May last year after relations soured over the murder of domestic worker Jullebee Ranara.

Her charred body was found in the Kuwaiti desert in January 2023, prompting Manila to stop sending first-time workers to Kuwait.

It sparked the latest in a series of spats between the Philipines and Kuwait, which is home to a sizable domestic worker population.

In 2020, the Philippines reimposed a ban on its citizens going to work in Kuwait after a Filipina was allegedly killed by her employer.

That incident echoed a 2018 row between the two countries that began with the discovery of the remains of a murdered Filipina maid in her employers' freezer. - AFP

Kuwait's wealth fund, which manages more than $800 billion in government funds, will open an office in Saudi Arabia to strengthen ties between the OPEC-member states.

Kuwait Investment Authority's board decided to open a representative office in Saudi Arabia that "will contribute to enhancing trade and investment exchange" between the countries, KIA Chairman and Minister of Finance Anwar Al-Mudhaf said in a statement on Tuesday.

The new office will help "solidify bilateral relations" and "open new horizons for joint cooperation," he said. The KIA already has offices in London and Shanghai.

The KIA, the world's oldest wealth fund, manages the Future Generations Fund, a savings pot for life after oil, as well as the General Reserve Fund, or the treasury "- the government's main source of budget financing.

The meeting took place at Seif Palace, headed by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers.

In the meeting, the two sides also agreed to establish a joint technical working committee that will meet periodically to address employment-related issues and other concerns. The two governments also confirmed their commitment the “Domestic Workers Employment Agreement' that both Philippines and Kuwait signed in 2018.

How To Apply Family Visa Or Visit Visa In Kuwait

kuwait visit visa open 2023

A certain lack of info has led  our Indian community  wide concerning the procedure of obtaining visit/family visa for your favored ones. i'll be sharing my very own expertise and what procedures I had to follow to induce visa for my married person.

If your wage is below 450k.d and you would like to induce family visa for your spouse, sorry however there's no method you'll apprehend lawfully and that i extremely disregard those who need to approach through waasta, don’t waste money and time. Get your spouse an  employment offer up here and let the Employer get the visa for her. Don’t fall for visa traders, unless you would like to make your life miserable.

For visit visa, minimum wage is 500k.d still and same as mentioned higher than that don’t fall for waasta’s and visa traders.

Check whether you have all  subsequent documents before approaching the Jawazat (Farwaniya Jawazat is shifted to Riggae for residency matters)

1. VISA FORM

2. Passport copy of your own (First page and  Last page). Since new procedure has removed iqama page. You then simply need your civil id copy.

3. Passport copy of your spouse (First and Last page)

4. Izne Amal copy (Work Permit). Ask your company to provide it.

5. Relationship Certificate. (This document will be available at all  copy & typing centers ). Get the certified at Indian embassy, 7 KD will be the fee, from there directly move to the Liberation tower (Ministry of Interior),  there you need to put 5 KD stamp on back of the affidavit and get it signed on the 2nd floor office. .

Go to a Typing Center with all documents, currently several typing centers and forums have claimed that you  need wedding certificate with MOFA attestation from India,

even I was falsely informed by various typing centers, thanks to a certain typing center, who firmly said not required. And actually, I didn’t require it while submission of papers at Jawazat, as my name was in my wife’s passport and has her surname changed to mine.

For others who don’t have spouse names in either of their passports it seems you may have to get the marriage certificate attested from MOFA, INDIA. Usually that attestation is sufficient but you may never know if the officer at Jawazat will ask for attestation from Kuwait as well, so get the stamping done similarly as you’ve done for the Relationship affidavit.

Marriage certificate in any case not required if you’re just applying for visit visa.

Get the visa form typed and make sure there are no typos in the form or else the visa will be rejected.

Rental agreement not required in either case in Farwaniya Jawazat, not sure about other Jawazat.

Once all papers are set. Get to the Jawazat as earliest as possible as per their work hours, probably reach before 1-2hrs if you don’t want to waste your whole day there.

Make sure you always sit in the first row of chairs; the token number will be distributed row-wise regardless you were first there to come and you’re sitting in the last row.

Maintain silence, avoid bringing unwanted people or relatives with you, if you don’t know Arabic, no problem. Officers over there are English literate and will speak to you in English if wanted.

There are at least 12 counters in the visitors hall and most of them will have officers stationed. Roll call will be done for your token number, make sure you are there and be on the exact counter in time. If you’re a habitual late comer, they won’t entertain you. Better go home. If by any chance the officer over there asks you to get sign from the high-level officer or Colonel, don’t try in any case to intimidate them, be humble always if you want to get your work done. If for any reason the colonel rejects your application humbly ask him or the allotted officer at counter to provide a reason, no argument whatsoever will be of any fruition; instead you will be removed from the visitor’s hall.

Visa office is located on the first floor and residency on ground. Always ask around with your compatriots if you don’t know the way, no harm in asking. Once application is taken from you for checking by the officer, you have to sit nearby the respected counter to wait for the officer to call you back. If everything checks out, you will be handed the Entry Visa paper printed on an official Ministry paper in blue color, you have to sit and make sure first that the officer has mentioned all the details on the visa properly, don’t hurry in checking.

Once verified, buy a 3k.d stamp from nearby kiosk, stamp is for both visit & family visa. Stick it in the marked bracket at the back of the visa, officer will scan the stamp and put an MOI seal over it. Congratulations!!, now send this visa back home and wait for your loved ones to visit you.
