Which Cruise Lines Cater to Kosher Meals Onboard?

Travelling on a cruise can be a luxurious and relaxing experience, but for those who keep kosher, it’s essential to know what dining options are available. Thankfully, many major cruise lines offer kosher meals onboard to ensure all guests have a delightful culinary experience.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival Cruise Line provides kosher meals on all their ships. However, these meals are limited to pre-packaged, frozen Glatt Kosher options. It’s important to note that Carnival does not have the facilities to prepare kosher food on board, so all meals come pre-packaged and sealed.

Guests must request kosher meals onboard at least three weeks prior to the sail date for American cruises and eight weeks in advance for European and Australian cruises. Kosher meals are served in the main dining room, and when the ship is in port meaning the dining room is closed, meals can be arranged through room service. Breakfast items are not available, so guests should plan accordingly.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line offers kosher dining options with prior notice. Guests should contact the reservations department at least 30 days before their sail date to arrange kosher meals. Onboard staff will assist in meal selections on embarkation day. Norwegian Cruise line strives to accommodate guests’ dietary needs, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean International offers kosher meals on all its ships at no additional cost. These meals are Glatt Kosher, available for lunch and dinner in the main dining room or the Windjammer Cafe. The meals are pre-packaged, frozen, and served sealed with disposable cutlery.

Additionally, Royal Caribbean can prepare hand-torn salads and a daily fish option, although these are not prepared under strict kosher supervision. Kosher meal requests must be made well in advance, with deadlines ranging from 45 days before North American sailings to 100 days before Australia/Asia sailings.

MSC Cruises

MSC Cruises provides pre-packaged kosher meals if requested at least two months before departure. These meals come at an additional charge, starting from €25 per person. MSC ensures that kosher options are available but requires significant notice to accommodate these dietary needs.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises offers a limited selection of kosher meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These meals are pre-packaged and available for dinner in the main restaurant. Special orders for kosher food must be placed with the Celebrity Cruises Access Department and are subject to a minimum order of 10 items. The selection includes various traditional dishes, ensuring that kosher guests have a satisfying dining experience. Orders need to be placed at the time of booking to ensure availability.

Cunard offers double-wrapped and frozen kosher meals, which guests must order six weeks in advance. These meals include one entrée and one soup per day, with no guarantees for breakfast options.

Cunard have begun offering fresh kosher meat on board, which can be cooked upon request. A rabbi is also available on board during major Jewish holidays, such as Rosh HaShana, Yom Kippur, Hanukkah, and Passover, with services like Seders scheduled around onboard activities.

Holland America Line

Holland America provides double-wrapped kosher meals upon request, with a form that must be filled out and returned 90 days prior to sailing. While breakfast is not included, kosher cereal and bread are available. The cruise line allows for two packaged meals per day, with additional meals available at a nominal fee.

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises works with a certified kosher vendor to offer a variety of kosher meals under rabbinical supervision. Kosher meals must be requested in writing 35 days before departure for certain cruises such as Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, Panama Canal and 65 days prior for all others. Special services, such as a Seder during Passover and Hanukkah prayers, are also provided onboard.

Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line stocks kosher meals on all ships, certified by OK Kosher Certification. These meals are available in full-service dining only and must be noted on the guest’s account after booking. For Passover sailings, Disney requires 60 days’ notice. Disney’s kosher meals include Glatt kosher meat, cholov yisroel dairy, and pas yisroel products, ensuring a wide range of dietary needs are met.

P&O Cruises

P&O Cruises offers kosher meals if informed at least 10 weeks before sailing. If this notice period is not met, they may not be able to accommodate the request. The kosher meals onboard are limited and unsupervised, so guests should plan accordingly.

Virgin Voyages

Virgin Voyages does not offer kosher or Halal dining options, and their kitchens are not allergen-free. Guests with specific dietary needs may need to consider other cruise lines that cater to kosher meals.

The Walt Disney World Resort is well known for its commitment to providing Guest with the best possible experiences.  Accommodating Guests’ dining requests is one of the things at which they excel.  Kosher meals can be accommodated at table-service and select quick-service restaurants. Some locations require 48-hour advance notice, but there are many locations that are prepared to provide Kosher meals for Guests without advance notice.

In the Parks:

Animal Kingdom:

Magic Kingdom:

• Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café – Tomorrowland
• All table-service locations

At the Resorts:

• Disney Resort hotel table-service and quick-service locations have kosher options subject to availability, without advance notice.

Most table-service restaurants can offer a kosher meal with a minimum of 48 hours advance notice . At family style or buffet locations, you will only receive one Kosher meal offering, this will not be all-you-care-to-enjoy. You will be charged the regular meal price. If you are using your Dining Plan entitlements, your meal will mirror those entitlements for Kosher meals (ex. if the dining entitlements allow for 1 appetizer, 1 entree, and 1 dessert, then then you may order 1 Kosher appetizer, 1 Kosher entree, and 1 Kosher dessert.) Prices for entrees are the same for adults and children except when ordering a kid’s meal entree.

All of your reservations will be noted with an “allergy/dietary restriction” and a chef will be out to speak with you about the menu options outside of the pre-packaged options.

disneyholic family said: yes, we've eaten kosher on DCL on many cruises. However, our last cruise was in 2019, though i doubt much has changed since then. and yes, it's your standard (pretty awful) frozen TV dinner. But there's lots of other food you can eat on board in addition to the kosher food (which you need to tell them in advance that you'll need). Since it's disney, they have a very complete ingredients book (allergy book) of all food on board, so you can check the book to see what else is kosher. In addition, many of the head people in food service on board are aware of kosher requirements and so are familiar with what's possible. For example, on our very first DCL cruise way back in 2001, when we boarded, we went to the sit down restaurant for lunch (not the buffet). When we walked in, we told the waiter that we eat kosher, so he called the head waiter. It turned out he wasn't our assigned head waiter (hard to explain the whole DCL dining system, but it doesn't matter for this answer) Anyway, he first called the chef to come out to speak with us. Since the kosher meals would take a long time to heat, he offered to prepare us something from scratch that we would be able to eat. Normally, you'll order the special kosher meals for each meal a day in advance, so they know to have it ready for your meal, but for boarding it's not possible. He was willing to heat the kosher meals, but said they'd take a long time. So instead he specially prepared for us salads, sandwiches (tuna) etc. ok. Now getting back to the head waiter who was sitting with us throughout that conversation. I can't remember his name, but he moved up through the company, i think ultimately becoming an executive. But anyway - he's australian i should add (that might jog people's memory). Ok so he brings out this massive ingredients book, but first asked us "how kosher are you?" we laughed and asked him what he meant. So he said he knew some people had to have everything plastic including plastic cups and utensils. And that they have to open all the kosher food themselves to make sure it's unopened. Some could eat regular food that was prepared in certain ways etc. So we explained exactly where we fit in that spectrum. And then he proceeded to take us through the ingredient book. He was hilarious. Not jewish, but knew a ton more than the average jew about what is kosher and what isnt. He said, this is made all by itself in a special machine that nothing else touches and here are the ingredients - all of which in that case were OU. We were laughing so hard by this point. This guy could have been a mashgiach. Anyway, he took us through everything so we knew absolutely everything we could eat on that ship, including the soft serve ice cream served up on deck thank god!!! that was a very long story. But the main food is definitely frozen and horrible. Though may times they've offered to make us fish - and they even know they need to double wrap it to cook it in the oven. We had probably the best bass we've even had on that ship. It was on the regular menu the first night, prepared in a way that was ok for us to eat. We fell in love with it and even though it was in one of the restaurants, the head waiter brought it to us each night, regardless of where we were eating. Bottom line, DCL will go above and beyond if they can. but again, you have to make sure it's on your reservation. Also, i called their special dietary requirements number to confirm we were listed and to also request they make sure certain food our grandkids like is on board (one of the kosher meals that they particularly like). The guy i spoke with was super super super super super nice!!! But yes, the main kosher food is the awful frozen tv dinner kind. Click to expand...

Despite that, we did take boxes of cereal from breakfast and also bagels that we'd brought with us onto the ship at the start of the cruise. there is nothing in the specifically kosher food that you can take off the ship - it's frozen tv dinners. How would you heat it up? but again, we weren't even supposed to take what we did off the ship, but we did anyway for the grandkids. The adults didn't eat until we were back on the ship. if you really have to eat off the ship, why don't you bring crackers with you from home together with a can of tuna fish or a jar of peanut butter. Both will get the job done.

New kosher offerings on all norwegian cruise line ships explained.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), the world’s third largest cruising company, is making waves in the kosher community by announcing a few big moves in the world of kosher cruising.

Context: yesterday, a few Jewish publications released articles about NCL’s “new” kosher offering but left out numerous details and have left consumers asking more questions. We’ve contacted NCL PR reps, NCL customer service, Borenstein Caterers, and the OU to follow up on the articles’ claims. Here’s what we’ve found:

DINING LIKE A MENSCH

Norwegian is now offering the availability of kosher meals for every single NCL departure worldwide, with real china, real utensils, and cloth napkins, not just “airplane” meals served in plastic containers as they (and other mass market cruise lines) have previously, as a “premier” option.

To take advantage of this, and kosher meals in general, consumers must make the request for kosher meals at least 30 days before departure, otherwise the cruise line cannot guarantee that kosher meals will be available.

All kosher (frozen) meals on NCL cruises are provided by Borenstein Caterers and kosher certified by the OU. Borenstein currently provides kosher travel meals across 14 airlines, Amtrak, and select Royal Caribbean cruises. NCL has previously worked with Sterling caterers, and is in process of phasing out their meal program with them whilst bringing in Borenstein meals.

Kosher diners will be able to choose meals from a variety of options including meat, chicken, fish, etc. The meal will also come packaged with sealed dishes, so you won’t be dining on plastic. Each meal will consist of a appetizer course, main course, two additional side dishes and dessert.  Once cruisers board the ship, you will be given a daily-changing dinner menu to choose what you wish to eat that day including an appetizer, main course with two sides, and a dessert, however, breakfast and lunch menus will not change throughout the week.

The meals will be available in the ships’ cafeterias.

We called NCL to request this option, which the customer service staff is aware of through an internal communication from earlier this week. They stated that while standard kosher meals (frozen Borenstein meals in the plastic containers – which is still an upgrade from other caterers), will be free for all guests who request it within the appropriate time frame, the “premium” option of china, utensils, and cloth napkins is not free and requires an additional charge. [ This has been confirmed by NCL management in an email to YeahThatsKosher ]

In a call to Borenstein Caterers, they confirmed the new “premier” option with real plates, utensils, etc.

FRESH FOOD & PRIVATE KOSHER KITCHEN FOR LARGE GROUPS

NCL management has confirmed that groups of 60 or more people will be able to enjoy a private chef and separate kitchen for freshly prepared meals using fresh ingredients, not frozen meals. This must be organized by the group’s travel agent.

The following services will be allowed by NCL for these groups:

• The group will have access to an exclusive area of the kitchen and dedicated dining area for freshly prepared kosher food
• Wines and fresh ingredients will be allowed to be brought onboard
• NCL will assist in “kashering” appliances and utensils (unclear at this time if any kashrut services will be involved in this process)
• NCL will dedicate 3-4 staff members to assist in the kitchen
• Shabbat arrangement will be made upon request for operating lifts/elevators and opening doors to staterooms

It is not clear at this time who is overseeing the kashrut of the designated kitchen. Technically, the mashgiach role can be taken on by kosher diners on a volunteer basis, which is something that kosher cruisers have done in the past, but it’s likely not provided by the cruise line, not an ideal situation, and not something the cruise line is likely to promote.

Both Borenstein Caterers and the OU are not involved in this program, so the kashrut oversight is may be the responsibility of the frum Jews in the group.

For large groups, this is essentially a cruising experience like everyone else at the same price, but only if a group of this size can be organized by a family or travel agent.

PESACH MEALS, MATZAH, CHALLAH, & WINE AVAILABILITY

NCL has also stated the following regarding special Passover meals and other items for Shabbat:

• Challahs will be available daily for all kosher meals, 7 days a week.
• Matzahs will be available upon request for Pesach, and presumably year round if requested in advance.
• Kosher for Passover meals can be provided by NCL “for special group departures.” That is all the info on their website at this time.
• Kosher Red and White wine is available for purchase by the glass and by the bottle on all Norwegian cruise ships. Both are Recanati wines from Israel. It is not clear if these are Kosher for Pesach wines.

IS THIS NEW? HOW DOES THIS DIFFER FROM OTHER KOSHER OPTIONS?

For many seasoned cruisers, the initial information above that was announced in these articles isn’t that much of a departure from the norm where kosher travel meals have been available for many of the cruise line’s ships for years. However, the addition of fine china & utensils, a new and improved kosher caterer, and the offering of a private chef & kitchen for groups of 60 or more is a potential game changer for the cruise line.

Comparing this to other options on the market is important for kosher travelers to make their decisions. We did some research on some of the other major cruise lines’ kosher options (Carnival Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises) and with the premier kosher cruising experience company, Kosherica.

• Carnival is able to provide Kosher meals for guests who request them. Kosher meals are available on all ships and itineraries, in limited quantities.
• Carnival accepts requests for Kosher meals up to 2-weeks prior to your embarkation date; for Europe cruises, the request will be accepted up to 8-weeks prior to the embarkation date. For last minute requests (within 2-weeks of the embarkation date), contact Guest Solutions to see if we are able to accommodate the request.
• There are no selections for breakfast-type food but guests may order from the selections below. The Kosher meals will only be served in the Main Dining Room during breakfast, lunch and dinner. When the ship is in port and the Main Dining Room is closed for lunch, arrangements can be made for the meal to be delivered by Room Service to the guest’s stateroom.
• Food is frozen and catered by Sterling Caterers.
• MAIN DIFFERENCE: 30 Days notice for NCL. 14 Days notice for Carnival. No china/utensils/cloth napkins offered at this time. No group offering. Different caterer for the meals.
• Kosher (frozen) meals from Borenstein are available at no extra charge on all ships. All you have to do is notify RCCL at least 45 days prior to sailing (90 days for European/South American Itineraries).
• Kosher for Passover meal requests MUST be received 90 days in advance in order to be accommodated. Contact your travel advisor or Certified Vacation Planner and request that the remark be noted in your reservation details.
• MAIN DIFFERENCE: 30 Days notice for NCL. 45 Days notice for Royal Caribbean. No china/utensils/cloth napkins offered at this time. No group offering. Same caterer as NCL.
• While MSC is not one of the top cruising companies in North America, it is popular with Israelis.
• Kosher (frozen) meals are free for cruises that embark from Miami, however these same kosher meals are $30 per person per day for all other ships departing from every other destination in the world.
• MSC must be contacted at least 2 months in advance to request kosher meals.
• MAIN DIFFERENCE: 30 Days notice for NCL. 60 Days notice for MSC. No china/utensils/cloth napkins offered at this time. No group offering. $30/person/day on all cruises except Miami departures.

DISNEY CRUISE LINE:

• Disney is able to provide free Kosher meals for guests who request them. Kosher meals are available on all ships and itineraries.
• Disney recommends making requests for kosher meals no less than 7 days (and others recommend 30 days just to be safe) in advance.
• Kosher meals are available in Cabanas on sail-away day, in the main dining rooms, and if the itinerary makes a stop at the Disney island, Castaway Cay.  Meals may also be accommodated in other locations onboard if planned in advance with your server
• Soft serve ice cream is under the OU
• MAIN DIFFERENCE: No specific date window request, but shorter recommendation window.  No china/utensils/cloth napkins offered at this time. No group offering. Different caterer for the meals. Kosher ice cream
• Kosherica books kosher cruisers on existing departures often through NCL, Holland America, or European lines like Costa, but ensures a separate dining room, chef(s), freshly prepared high-end kosher ingredients, and an always-on mashgiach to ensure its Glatt Kosher kashrut.
• Additionally, Kosherica typically provides a program geared towards frum travelers including rabbinical speakers, daily minyanim, Jewish music concerts, and other heimishe activities.
• MAIN DIFFERENCE: Guaranteed glatt kosher supervised freshly prepared food using high quality meat, daily minyanim w/sefer torah, and Jewish activities. Prices are typically 2-3x standard cruising pricing due to the above amenities.

Note: Norwegian Cruise Line cannot guarantee that guests will be able to enjoy kosher meals without proper minimum 30-day notice. There are no spare meals as the ships must be able to handle all predetermined kosher guest orders on embarkation day. Meals that may not have been selected still have to be kept for these guests during the cruise as well as other kosher guests in coming itineraries.

Kosher dining at Walt Disney World requires a little planning, but it’s possible still to have a magical food experience while remaining kosher.

Table Service Kosher Dining

Kosher meals can be accommodated at all table-service and select quick-service restaurants. Kosher meals should be requested 24 hours in advance by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Guests under 18 years of age must have parent or guardian permission to call. Also, be sure to indicate any dietary requirements upon arrival at your dining location. Please know there may be a higher wait time due to the special care taken to provide a kosher meal.

Note that for family-style or buffet meals, you likely will only receive one meal; it will not be all-you-care-to-enjoy. Guests will be charged the regular buffet or all-you-care-to-eat price.

Guests using their Disney Dining Plan entitlements for dining will be able to mirror those entitlements for Kosher meals. For example, if the package entitlements are one appetizer, one entree, and one beverage, then you may order one Kosher appetizer, one Kosher entree, and your beverage.

However, things are always changing at Walt Disney World, so we recommend calling several days before (or when you’re ready to make ADRs) to inquire.

Kosher Dining Tips

As with any other special dietary need, you can and should advocate for yourself.

• At Quick Service restaurants, speak to a manager if you need assistance or more information.
• At Table Service restaurants, speak to a chef (he or she will come to your table) if you need more information.
• At snack kiosks and stands, you can request to see the ingredients binder.

You are allowed to bring food into the parks with you, so if you prefer to carry in things you enjoy and know meet your needs, go for it!

Know that grocery stores in the area of Walt Disney World will have Kosher selections (Publix being, perhaps, the most well-stocked). You can drive to a store to pick up items to bring with you. (Alternatively, you could call a taxi or rideshare to drive there and back or use a grocery delivery service.)

With some advance planning, you can eat kosher in Walt Disney World !

Sci Fi Dine-In at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Table Service Restaurants Kosher Meals can be accommodated at most WDW table service restaurants with advance notice. Disney requests that guests call (407) 824-1391 at least 24 hours in advance. Upon arrival at the table service restaurant, guests are also asked to indicate their dietary needs in person.

Kosher Buffet Dining in Disney World Per the Disney World website: “For these [Buffet] service styles, Guests will only receive one meal. The kosher meal will not be all-you-care-to-eat, but Guests will be charged the regular price.”

Menu Monday: Kosher Dining at Walt Disney World

This is the first in a series of articles exploring the unique needs of people of faiths vacationing at Walt Disney World.

It is a given for most people that you don’t give up your faith, practices, and traditions just because you go on vacation. And while, all joking aside, a trip to Walt Disney World isn’t a religious pilgrimage of any major world religion, Walt Disney World and the surrounding areas do provide resources for people of faith to honor their religious practices and keep their customs while on vacation.

For this article, I will cover the options available for Jewish guests who wish to keep kosher on vacation.

While a majority of the foods at Walt Disney World are not certified kosher, there are options for those who want to keep kosher during their vacation.

When it comes to main meals, some pre-planning may be required. Most table-service restaurants can offer a kosher meal with a minimum of 48 hours advance notice. To note a request for a kosher meal, and to verify a restaurant’s ability to provide kosher dining, call 407-WDW-DINE. You may also want to verify the cancellation policy for kosher meals, which can be different from the standard cancellation policy. If you are visiting a buffet and opt for the kosher meal, your meal will be pre-portioned and not all-you-can-eat. It also will be from a standard kosher menu around property, and not necessarily the type of food you will find at the restaurant itself. (For instance, if you go to Nine Dragons, your kosher meal will not be Chinese food. It also will be the same sort of food options as it is if you go to San Angel Inn or Biergarten or Restaurant Marrakesh.)

When it comes to counter-service meals, not all places on property have kosher offerings, however there is at least one counter-service location in each theme park that offers kosher food. They are:

• Magic Kingdom: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe
• Epcot: Electric Umbrella (Future World) and Liberty Inn (American Adventure pavilion, World Showcase)
• Disney’s Hollywood Studios: ABC Commissary
• Animal Kingdom: Pizzafari

For Disney resort hotels, availability and variety of kosher meals at quick-service restaurants can be inconsistent, so it is important to check upon arrival to see what options are currently available, or call 407-WDW-DINE in advance for the most up-to-date information.

Each kosher meal is pre-packaged and has to be microwaved individually. This means that you will be waiting a little extra for your meal, especially if you are ordering more than one kosher meal. It is advisable to try not to hit a counter service restaurant at the peak of the lunch or dinner hour to avoid having a lengthy wait. Also remember to bring a small pair of scissors with you, as the wrapping (which allows it to be heated in a standard microwave oven) can be difficult to remove. The sealed meals do not provide flatware, so if you are not comfortable using the disposable forks, knives, and spoons provided, you will need to bring your own.

In preparation for this article, I ordered a kosher meal from Electric Umbrella. Once I mentioned that I was ordering a kosher meal, the cast member at the register had to call over a specialist with “the book”—a book with information about a wide variety of dietary issues, such as gluten sensitivity or food allergies. She showed me the page in the book with the kosher meals and apologized in advance for the limited selection. Items available vary by restaurant, so your best bet is to go to guest services early to see what information they can provide for your visit about what is available.

After I selected my meal, my food specialist rung up the order and told me it would take about four minutes for the meal to be ready. My meal came out fully wrapped and she verified with me that it was fully sealed. It also came out on a different colored tray to show that it was a special meal order. Before I left with my meal, she apologized for the “potato croquettes”, which she said tend to fall apart in the microwave and become more like mashed potatoes.

The first thing that struck me about the meal was how light it was. I took it home (still sealed) and weighed it. Including the container, the meal was 9.7 ounces. That said, the meal was incredibly filling. The chicken nuggets were incredibly mediocre. Basically think of getting a box of chicken nuggets from the freezer section of your grocery store and microwaving them. While the potato croquettes were certainly not what I would call croquettes, they were fairly tasty if you thought of them as seasoned mashed potatoes. In essence, the meal was about the quality of a TV dinner, but with a $10 price point.

For snacks, the best bet to ensure that an item is kosher is to purchase pre-packaged snacks and read the label to look for a symbol of kosher status. In addition, most counter service locations have a book that lists what items are kosher and what are not. Simply ask a cast member to help you identify kosher foods that they have available.

And in case you are curious, Mickey Premium Bars, Dole Whip, and popcorn at Walt Disney World are all reported to be kosher, but as always, check before you purchase to make sure that it meets your personal specifications.

If you are staying in a DVC property, you can always take the option of dining in your room, especially for a meal like breakfast, although you may want to bring your own disposable tableware and cooking utensils.

In addition, Walt Disney World allows its guests to bring food into the parks—everything from snacks to full meals.

In addition, grocery delivery services like Garden Grocer offer kosher items. (Just type “kosher” in the search box or look for KO in a green circle next to an item.)

If you prefer to order your groceries from a kosher-only store, Central Florida Kosher is an online kosher grocery store serving the Orlando metro area.

There are also several restaurants nearby that offer kosher meals.

Kosher Gourmet Restaurant at 7508 Universal Boulevard, Orlando, offers both daily menus (Sunday through Thursday) and a Shabbat menu for pick-up on Friday. For the Shabbat meal, orders must be placed by noon Thursday to allow the food to be prepared before Shabbat. They also offer a limited delivery area (for a $25 surcharge).

Lower East Side Restaurant 2.0 , 8548 Palm Parkway, Orlando, is located a few minutes from Downtown Disney. They offer a variety of dine-in meals, as well as take-out for Shabbat or boxed breakfasts or lunches, perfect to take into the theme parks.

Kosher Grill , located at 5615 International Drive, Orlando, also provides a diverse assortment of foods, and provides delivery to Disney hotels for a $35 fee.

In addition to these locations, many other restaurants in the Orlando area say that they are kosher, however it is always a good idea to ask to see their kosher certificate before you dine.

In reality, while it is possible to eat exclusively at Disney and stay kosher for a trip, unless you have an incredibly short vacation, you likely will want to explore other dining options for greater variety. In addition, expect to pay more for kosher food, especially if you eat at an off-site restaurant. Still, it is wonderful that the option is available to keep kosher and to be able to do so with only minor pre-planning required.

This week being Passover, are there any Kosher for Passover options?

If you’re looking for everything to have a seder, I’m afraid that you’ll have a rough time putting one together from on-site restaurants and stores. (I have heard of Jewish folks who try to “MacGyver” everything necessary for a seder from on-site locations, and while it is an interesting intellectual exercise, I wouldn’t recommend it for reality.) Because Disney outsources its kosher meal preparation, the availability about certain Passover standards is completely dependent on the supplier. For counter service restaurants, the menus are fairly static year-round, but you may have luck at sit-down restaurants. Specifically, this paragraph gives some hope: —- During Pesach, many table service Walt Disney World Resort restaurants allow you to order kosher Passover entrees such as brisket, honey-glazed chicken breast, baked fillet of salmon with a matzah farfel side dish, 8-inch cheese pizza made with egg whites and a potato starch shell, and chicken strips with potato croquets. There are sides of vegetables and potatoes. Soups include garden vegetable and matzah ball, and delicious desserts include chocolate layer cake, coconut macaroon and carrot cake. —– As always, the best bet is to make sure you call at least 48 hours in advance to see what Disney can do for you. It has been my experience that Disney dining is incredibly receptive to guest needs, and will do everything that they are able to ensure a magical vacation.
