ABOUT JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS

Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock ‘n’ roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blew the door to the boys’ club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.” With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs’ LA punk masterpiece ‘GI.’ Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny’s Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue to tour the world with headlining shows alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, and Foo Fighters. ‘Bad Reputation,’ a documentary about Jett’s life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Following up on the bands 2022 release Changeup, their first-ever acoustic album, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts EP Mindsets will be a RSD First vinyl release on 11/24. Mindsets is available to stream now.  For more information visit www.joanjett.com.

ABOUT MORGAN WADE

One of Nashville’s fastest-rising and most critically acclaimed young stars, Morgan Wade released her much-anticipated sophomore album, Psychopath , Aug. 25 via Sony Music Nashville. Possessed with a raw and unflinching voice anchored by a perfect tinge of twang; the rare ability to pen honest portraits of some of life’s most precious and painful and unpredictable moments; and an onstage vulnerability that so seamlessly breaks down the wall between fan and artist, Wade has quickly made her mark on the country music scene — and the music world at large. Her stunning 2021 debut album, Reckless , was hailed as a critical triumph; it topped Rolling Stone ’s Best Country and Americana Albums of 2021, with New York Times noting Wade “sounds like she’s singing from the depths of history.” In 2022, Wade was nominated as the Emerging Act of the Year at the Americana Music Honors & Awards; in 2023, Wade was nominated for New Female Artist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music and performed at major-market festivals including Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.

While Reckless , and particularly its momentous lead single “Wilder Days,” busted down the doors and introduced Wade to a wider listenership, Psychopath is an astounding follow-up statement: the 13-track LP was crafted with the help of some of Nashville’s most extraordinary musical talents, from A-list songwriters (Julia Michaels, Natalie Hemby, Liz Rose, Lori McKenna) to studio musicians as well as Wade’s longtime producer Sadler Vaden. Most excitingly, Psychopath finds Wade peeling back layers of her psyche like never before. “I realized the more authentic you are and the more you pour yourself into your songs, and most importantly if you’re being honest, people will connect to that,” Wade says.  “I want every song to get the credit it deserves.”

One of the best concerts I’ve been to in my entire life, Alanis’s jagged Little pill was the soundtrack to my childhood and early teens, it was so emotionally and spiritually fulfilling to be in her presence along with thousands of other singing our hearts out to every word of her songs it was an incredible night that I will never forget

Saw her in Amsterdam for the acoustic version of Jagged little pill. I have always been a fan, but I had no idea how amazing her voice is in a small intimate setting, even sometimes surpassing the studio versions. All I can say it was amazing.

Second time seeing Alanis live and wow, I was blown away. She's just phenomenal. No words to describe this show. She sang acoustic versions of the full Jagged Little Pill plus a few songs from her other albums. Can't wait to see her in London again this September.

Fans fume as Alanis Morissette cancels Australian tour after three postponements

Fans who bought tickets for Alanis Morissette’s Australian tour more than two-and-a-half years ago are fuming at the singer’s latest move.

Kylie Minogue issues major Aus tour update

Alanis Morissette has pulled the pin on her upcoming Australian arena tour – leaving fans who had already endured more than two years of rescheduleded dates fuming.

The singer’s tour, celebrating 25 years since her iconic breakthrough album Jagged Little Pill, was originally set to take place in April 2020.

The Covid pandemic nixed that, and the tour was then rescheduled to November 2020 – and then again to November 2021.

Finally, the dates were pushed back another year to November 2022 – only to be cancelled yesterday, more than two-and-a-half years after tickets initially went on sale, due to the “the unprecedented logistical challenges of global touring in 2022.”

Morrisette herself said in a social media statement to fans that she was “crestfallen” to cancel the tour – and insisted that, while tickets would be refunded, she was instead “framing it to myself that I am postponing for another time.”

“I love you each so much, and I can’t wait to get there,” she wrote.

Fans who’d paid for their tickets back in December 2019 expressed anger and disappointment under the post, with many frustrated that the tour was now cancelled entirely after enduring so many pandemic postponements.

“We have waited so long, even after it was cancelled the 1st time. We were happy to wait because ewe love you – but this is a kick in the teeth,” wrote one fan.

“Waiting to hear from Ticketek about a refund – I doubt I even have the same credit card for it to be refunded all these years later,” wrote another.

Angry fans have accused the star of “stringing them along” over the now-cancelled shows.

“Imagine looking forward to a concert for over two years and getting nothing,” said another.

“String people along for nearly 2 and half years … and then cancel the show. Absolutely f**ked,” fumed another angry fan.

Others were even angrier, with one fan labelling the cancellation “Pathetic. Blaming logistics and scheduling is a cop out. You’ve had over 2 years to make it happen. Hell, the Foo Fighters flew in and out for a one off show and you can’t drag your sorry arse here for a tour that was meant to happen 2 years ago.”

Morissette’s local touring company, Live Nation Australia, said that the singer will endeavour to make it back to Australia as soon as possible. In a statement they said that all parties “feel it’s best to refund the ticket holders now and have all committed to rescheduling these dates at the earliest possible time.”

“Sucks big time that this is now cancelled at a time when travel restrictions have eased when the reason for past cancellations was travel restrictions. Isn’t it ironic don’t you think?” quipped another ticketholder.

Morissette last visited Australia for an acoustic tour in January 2018. Her Jagged Little Pill tour is one of many high-profile tours to fall victim to the lingering effects of the pandemic, with planned arena tours by the likes of Rod Stewart, Snoop Dogg, Faith No More, James Blunt and Simple Minds all cancelled in recent months.

Two Australian cities have been revealed as stops on the British band’s high-demand global tour, according to a new report.

Four Seasons singer Frankie Valli is still touring exhaustively aged 90 – but clips from his recent concerts have to be seen to be believed.

Australia’s pop princess has made an announcement just a day before the lead single of her upcoming album is set to drop.

Alanis Morissette's 2023 World Tour: A retrospection for fans

Watching her perform live took many back to the '90s.

Alanis Morisette.jpg

The dates August 1 and 2 of 2023 are memorable for a lot of gen-X and millenials as they spent the evening watching Alanis Morissette sing her hit songs.

This writer, for one, had tears welling up when she saw Alanis’ family photos flashed on the screen. “I’m happy for her. I’m happy for all of us,” was the thought bubble that popped up. As we sang along to Alanis’ songs, I had flashbacks of how life was back then when her songs were just released and how life has changed (for the better) since then. It was an evening to be grateful—for her songs that assured us that we weren’t alone in this journey of adulting, for the friends who stayed with us through thick and thin, and for the lyrics that helped us endure and get through the most trying times.

The next few days, the social media feed was filled with emotional posts on how the concert “moved” them. We asked them to share their sentiments that one night they listened to Alanis Morissette—live.

Sing, scream, and cry "After all the existential crisis this year has brought me, and the continuous burden and difficulties of being a woman may it be in business, at home, or wherever we may be… It only took one night with Alanis to be able to sing, scream, and cry my angry heart out.  I hope that I’d still be dancing, screaming, and moving around with this world as my stage as freely as she did on that stage, even when I’m 50 years old.  This concert was supposed to be a gift for my sister—because this woman has gone through so much and she just wanted a night away singing the songs that we’d listen to, side ! and side B, on automatic repeat. Little did I know that it’ll be for the both of us, with my BFF Pat Villanueva as the cherry on top." — Dr. Rica Cruz

So much more meaning now "The lyrics have so much more meaning now than in high school when I first sang them. In high school, you sing songs of being in love or of heartbreak without really having gone through it yet. Like the line “you are the bearer of unconditional things” from “Head Over Feet”—it has so much meaning now on how it is to truly love someone. " — Zerline Chan-Ortiz Luis

All in good time “I racked my brain but nobody had the intensity of our angst today, but I guess teens aren’t as angry now because they get to voice out their issues—and this is a good thing! Another one is that I, for one, really grew up with her songs in my background—same time as when I was in my angry teen phase. And you compare it to our lives now, with the guys we (us and Alanis) ended up marrying and having kids with… you just want to give our teenage versions a hug and say “All in good time. When the right one comes along, everything is just so easy. And you will be so happy—and we are!’” — Bea Tongco

To be young again "I felt young again, like I was back in the ‘90s singing her songs with the audience. They remind me of my high school and college days. Core memories were beach days with my barkada as we sang “Ironic” on the car’s CD player." — Lindsay Bustamante

The anthems of our generation " 'Jagged Little Pill' was one of the CDs that was on repeat for the better part of my 20s. Sadly, I missed getting tickets to Alanis Morisette’s 2020 concert. When I heard she was coming back this year, I was going to be there, with ripped jeans, and Chuck Taylors in tow.

There were too many feelings, and not enough feelings going on when Alanis walked on stage along with the first chords of “All I Really Want.” By the time she got around to “You Learn,” I was bawling! While also singing along and taking it all in. As she jumped—literally and figuratively—it was an emotional rollercoaster ride through “Jagged Little Pill,” angst and all. Except that Alanis’ songs hit different now. “Head Over Feet” and “Thank U” each brought a fresh wave of tears, and I unashamedly let them flow. Thank you, Alanis, for the anthems of our generation." — Bebeth Timbol

Alanis Morissette Was The Music Icon ’90s Girls Needed And Deserved

Profile picture of Grace O'Neill

Today you may have heard that Alanis Morissette is about to embark on her first Australian tour in nearly 20 years. If you did, you potentially had the reaction: “Who? Oh yeah, the chick that sings that ‘Ironic’ song, right?” I’m not here to tell you what to think or feel but that reaction is wrong .

‘Jagged Little Pill’, the album she released in 1995, remains one of the most seminal albums to come out of that decade. This is a point men and women can agree on, but there’s no denying that the album had an especially profound impact on women. I’m a woman (!) and the album holds a special place in my heart and a defining role in my teenage years despite the fact I was only two years old when it was released.

I’m no music expert, but I’m confident that you’d be hard-pressed to name an artist working today who could properly be compared to Alanis. When ‘Jagged Little Pill’ was released pop music was dominated by the likes of The Spice Girls. Alanis, who began her career as a pop star in her native Canada, burst onto the scene with an uncharacteristic album full of angry, loud anthems. She sung about giving blowjobs in movie theatres and wreaking revenge on her exes; then she flitted back in the other direction with soft romantic ballads.

The whole album is raw and unpolished, searingly honest and painfully relateable. It’s Adele’s 21 by the way of Kurt Cobain. The songs are practically made to be blasted at full pelt in your car while you scream along.

Spice Girls New Music

Are The Spice Girls Recording New Music?

When I was 18 and a boy with a Black Flag tattoo (should have known) broke my heart, I rediscovered Alanis Morissette and replayed that album incessantly. It was therapeutic in the way my other teenage coping mechanisms (read: getting hammered on bottles of $6 wine) didn’t. Alanis got what it was like to be a young girl (she was 21 when the album was released) who was scorned and pissed off and sad all at once.

The anger thing is worth talking about because the fury that exists in ‘Jagged Little Pill’ still feels groundbreaking today. 20 years on and its depressingly rare to find angry, fired-up women who are expelling their anger in a compelling, but ultimately healthy way. And let’s face it, we have a lot to be pissed off about at the moment.

‘Jagged Little Pill’ went on to sell more 30 million copies and win five Grammys (including Album of the Year). It earned Alanis a well-deserved spot in annals of music history. None of that is to say that the album is her only achievement. Aside from smaller wins (being engaged to Ryan Reynolds! Having a cameo in Sex and the City !), Morissette has a popular podcast, an advice column for The Guardian and is currently in the process of adapting JLP into a Broadway musical with Juno director Diablo Cody. In short, she’s a legend! Let’s all go see her.

Alanis Morissette is performing two acoustic shows in Melbourne (the Palais Theatre) and Sydney (the ICC Sydney Theatre) on the 23rd and 24th of January 2018 respectively. Tickets go on sale at Ticketek on August 7th

Alanis Morissette has cancelled her Australia, New Zealand and Philippines tour

The 'Ironic' singer was due to commence a four-date run this November

alanis morissette world tour 2023 australia

Alanis Morissette has cancelled the Australia and New Zealand leg of her ‘Jagged Little Pill’ anniversary tour, with tour operators Live Nation citing “scheduling issues”.

Morissette was due to perform rescheduled shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland this November as part of celebrations for the 25th anniversary of her seminal album ‘Jagged Little Pill’.

Today (June 22), Live Nation said in a statement reason for the cancellation of Morissette’s tour Down Under – and two shows in Phillipines – was “scheduling issues” and “the unprecedented logistical challenges of global touring in 2022”.

Additionally, the artist’s management and Live Nation said they “feel it’s best to refund the ticket holders now and have all committed to rescheduling these dates at the earliest possible time”.

In a post to her Facebook, Morissette wrote: “I am crestfallen to announce that the upcoming ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Anniversary tour dates have been cancelled (i am framing it to myself that i am postponing for another time). i love you each so much, and i can’t wait to get there. unfortunately it’s just not possible this november.

“I love you all and I will be back as soon as we can. until then, big hug.”

Morissette’s upcoming concerts in Manila, Philippines – which were scheduled for November 18 and 19 – have also been cancelled. Concert promoter SM Tickets has announced that refunds will be issued for the two shows. The refunding process will begin on Friday (June 25).

Alanis Morissette's 2023 World Tour brings nostalgic night of timeless hits

alanis morissette world tour 2023 australia

Not even heavy rains could dampen the enthusiasm of titas who flocked the MOA Arena to witness Alanis Morissette's much-awaited 2023 World Tour concert.

One of them, a die-hard fan clad in a black Alanis shirt, bought several tickets for her college friends.

I overheard her say, “Hindi man ako nakapunta nung 1996 concert dahil hindi ko pa afford tickets nun, at least now, dream come true."

Then one of her friends thanked the die-hard fan for "hosting" the barkada's mini-reunion.

Alanis’ concert is all about reminiscing the '90s.

The minute she appeared on stage playing the opening tune for “All I Really Want” with her harmonica, the crowd instantly let loose.

The familiar melody of "Hands in my Pocket" had the Filipino audience singing along, and even Parokya Ni Edgar's Chito Miranda and his wife Neri Naig couldn't resist standing up to join the fun.

Despite almost three decades passing since her rise to fame, the now mother-of-three Canadian singer proved she hadn't lost her touch.

Effortlessly hitting high notes and seamlessly incorporating yodel breaks, Alanis had the audience mesmerized with hits like "You Learn," "Mary Jane," and "Perfect."

Throughout the night, she poured her heart into every song, taking everyone on an emotional journey with "Head Over Heels," and unleashing all the angst in "Ironic" and "You Oughta Know."

For the encore, Alanis delighted the crowd by infusing a touch of reggae into "Uninvited," and ending the two-hour show with a fervent version of "Thank You."

Her concert was a pure celebration of music—no greeting or spiels and no costume changes— as she dedicated her energy entirely to the 19 songs in her repertoire.

Alanis Morissette ’s long-awaited Australian tour has been cancelled.

The Canadian singer made the announcement this morning, with promoter Live Nation citing “scheduling issues” and “the unprecedented logistical challenges of global touring in 2022”.

The upcoming run of arena shows in November, which had previously been rescheduled due to COVID, were to commemorate the 25th anniversary of seminal album Jagged Little Pill .

“My friends in Australia & New Zealand, I am crestfallen to announce that the upcoming Jagged Little Pill anniversary tour dates have been cancelled,” Morissette said.

Instead of postponing the tour again, Live Nation said that, in consultation with the singer’s management, they felt it was “best to refund the ticket holders now” and that they were hoping to schedule new dates “at the earliest possible time”.

Last year, controversial Alanis Morissette documentary Jagged premiered via Foxtel, despite backlash from the singer.

In the lead-up to its original release on HBO, Morissette slammed the doco - which takes a deep look into the making of her seminal 1995 album Jagged Little Pill  - saying the piece does not portray an accurate representation of events.

"I agreed to participate in a piece about the celebration of Jagged Little Pill ’s 25th anniversary and was interviewed during a very vulnerable time (while in the midst of my third postpartum depression during lockdown)," said Morissette in a statement.

"I was lulled into a false sense of security and their salacious agenda became apparent immediately upon my seeing the first cut of the film."

The singer continued, "this is when I knew our visions were in fact painfully diverged. This was not the story I agreed to tell. I sit here now experiencing the full impact of having trusted someone who did not warrant being trusted."

Morissette went on to say she no longer endorsed the film. The album in question featured super hits such as You Oughta Know , Ironic , Hand In My Pocket and many more, and even spawned a stage musical.
