By the time March arrives in Las Vegas, the winter hangover will be well and truly over, and you can see a high temperature returning. February sees the start of the crowd returning to Sin City, triggered by what seems like an endless list of conventions and business events. 

Here, at the dawn of a new spring and summer season, the entertainment capital of the world feels like it’s starting to come alive again. The crowds have started arriving in earnest, but not all is lost (if you have a fear of crowds, that is.) 

Ironically, that middle of the month coincides with a very special “green” festival that, for some reason, has taken Vegas by storm. It’s also the start of “pool season”. The skies are bluer, and the tables are turning in more ways than one. That and more await you when you visit Las Vegas in March. It’s a great time to hit Sin City!

Weather in Las Vegas During March

Despite being one of the  warmest states in winter  from the start of the month to the end, the weather can change somewhat dramatically in Vegas in terms of temperatures. Summer is coming and many pools are opening. Therefore, it’s appropriate to pack a swimming costume — you may need it. 

Expect the average temperature to rise above 21°C, with an occasional peak at more than 26°C towards the end of the month. And the relative humidity is quite low making for a more pleasant environment. According to weather data, the desert chill may hit on a rare evening, dipping to 5°C. But you won’t need to worry about that too much unless you’re on an overnight wilderness trip.

What to Pack for Las Vegas in March

Packing for Vegas in March shouldn’t be too challenging. You will not be faced with particularly cold days or nights, so your suitcase will largely reflect what you intend doing. To that end, consider that you might want to spend time at the poolside. Assuming you are sorted when it comes to plans for day-trips, here are a few essentials. 

• Warm jacket  — If you plan to venture into the desert on an overnight trip, or on the off-chance you experience a chilly evening.  At night or in the morning, the desert gets cold.  
• Walking shoes — Las Vegas hotels, resorts and casinos are huge and require lots of walking. You may also want to take a hike in the surrounding country. Be sure not to wear your too-casual shoes in the casinos, though. 
• Swimwear — If the pools are opening up and you’re a keen swimmer, you do not want to be left wanting while everyone splashes about.
• Flip Flops —- As mentioned above, you’ll want to be super casual when you’re lounging about the pool. 
• Evening wear — Las Vegas is all about the nightlife. If you plan on going out, it’s an opportunity to dress up elegantly.
• Event outfits — If you plan on attending some day and weekend events (see below), dress appropriately, whether in your favourite  St Patrick’s Day outfit , silly NASCAR hat, or business-branded shirt. 

12 Things to Do in Las Vegas in March

Las Vegas is, of course, well known for its myriad of shows and concerts. Almost every available venue, such as a hotel or arena, will have a major show or star booked for performances, and there’s no shortage of options there, from Caesars Palace to the MGM Grand to the Wynn Las Vegas. You might luck out and see a major star like Carrie Underwood perform. Or check out a comedy club, Planet Hollywood or see whose playing at the T-Mobile Arena.

The city also hosts a variety of annual events that are by themselves simply awesome to attend.There’s something for sports fans and those looking to get out of the city. Then, there’s one of the most popular global celebrations that has grabbed the imagination of Las Vegas in a big way. 

Get ready to party like… well, like it’s Las Vegas.

1. Pennzoil 400 Las Vegas 2023

NASCAR, one of America’s favourite pastimes, comes to Las Vegas for the 2023 Pennzoil 400. The weekend of hard racing, loud noises, and high-speed action takes place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and is a highlight of the year for many car fans, petrolheads, and racing fans.

The Las Vegas edition of the touring car series ranks among the top five in the country in terms of the TV audience and attendance. The weekend sees three different races on the schedule: 

• NASCAR Cup Series — The premiere stock car series racing division.
• NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race — production pickup trucks provide the drama
• NASCAR Xfinity Series — The anticipated support race to the main event, this race provides a possible glimpse at future stars of the Cup Series. 

Dates: 3 March – 5 March

2. March Madness

March Madness is an entire month of sports watching and betting, focused on the college basketball tournament, the  Men’s NCAA tournament . Basketball fever grips the country. 

It’s an event that nearly three million people travel for — most of them to Las Vegas during the week it arrives. On 23 and 25 March, the city becomes preoccupied with watch parties, betting, and sports mayhem.

Tip: Watching and wagering on the NCAA championships in Las Vegas means getting involved in what is called a sportsbook.It is usually a venue that contains several screens broadcasting a number of sports events at once, supported by a bar or restaurant. If you want to attend March madness at a sportsbook, try to book a space, as most will be bursting at the seams.

3. CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 Las Vegas

It may not be everyone’s first thought when it comes to entertainment, but the CONEXPO-CON is so extensive and impressive that it’s worth looking into. Who cares whether or not you’re in the construction industry?

At the very least, anyone who happens to be into home improvement and building will find something to love here, as the 1800 exhibitors display wares, offer training sessions and squeeze into the nearly three million feet of exhibition space. 

Dates: 14 – 18 March, 2023

4. St Patrick’s Day in Las Vegas 

Believe it or not,  St Patrick’s Day  has become one of Las Vegas’s most prominent early-year celebrations. Everyone (it seems) becomes Irish for a day. At the very least, everyone seems to want to participate in a parade, a pub crawl, or a party. 

The LINQ parade on the Las Vegas Strip sets up its Irish score for three days — why celebrate for only one day? There are bagpipers, restaurants offering green food (all edible, be assured), and drinks. On St Patrick’s Day, a huge ice sculpture is carved in the main promenade area. 

The day’s first stop should be the parade kicking off at Bliss Dance at the Park. It heads to the Celtic Feis on Brooklyn Bridge; anyone can tag along on the walk. The Feis itself then kicks off in earnest, and it is for adult ticket holders only.

Meanwhile, there’s a downtown parade featuring the local chapters of firefighters, who walk to 3rd Street. Later that night, the big High Roller Observation Wheel is decorated in a green light, making for wonderful photographs.

5. New Vista Brew’s Best Craft Beer Festival — Summerlin

Summerlin is a little outside central Las Vegas, about ten miles west. On 18 March, the day after St Patrick’s Day, New Vista brew hosts a large beer festival, which will be the obvious and essential follow-up to your Friday revelry. 

Aside from craft beers, the samples are expanded to include spirits. There is a lot of entertainment, including live music and games. This makes for an ideal day trip and leaves ample time to get breakfast first and return to LV for an evening out. 

Date: 18 March, 2023 (1 pm – 6 pm)

6. Las Vegas Food & Beverage Industry Week

No, this expo is technically not aimed at casual foodies. It’s a trade industry expo for restaurants, food vendors, and hospitality. However, it’s a fascinating exhibition of modern trends and technologies that will intrigue anyone with even a passing interest in nightlife and entertainment.

The entire event is made up of several specialist sub-events. 

7. World Tea Expo

If you like tea, there’s no other place to be. Aside from the tastings of brews from around the country and the world, there are educational talks and live demonstrations to intrigue you. 

Dates: 27 – 29 March

8. Bar & Restaurant Expo

This expo was formerly called the Nightclub & Bar Show, which should give you some idea of the focus of the demonstrations, exhibits, and talks here. Many foods and beverages can be tasted and sampled, and business owners in particular can walk away with tons of new ideas to apply. 

9. SIAL America

SIAL is a food-based trade show that spans all foods and food communities globally. The expo is further broken down into categories of interest: 

• Organic & Wellness
• Grocery products & breads
• Specialty Foods
• Fruits & Vegetables
• Dairy products
• Frozen foods
• Snacks foods
• Delicatessen & Meats

10. Pizza Expo

If you’ve never heard of a pizza expo, be confident that this is the 39th annual edition. It’s a pizza lover’s heaven and is, as far as anyone can tell, the largest pizza show in the world. 

11. International Artisan Bakery Expo

Most casual visitors will want to see the demonstrations, of course. Literally, hundreds and possibly thousands of manufacturers, suppliers, and purveyors of all things related to baking will be showing their wares here. 

The focus is on artisanal baking, so there are many personal touches, tips, recipes, and stories to share. 

12. Take a Classic Vegas Day Trip

The clear blue skies and gentle breeze of Las Vegas weather in March make it the perfect time to take some of its most popular day trips. Why not take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon? Or a full day trip to the Grand Canyon, taking advantage of the low temperature with an early morning start? This could also be the best time to visit nearby engineering marvel the Hoover Dam, my favourite Las Vegas day trip. 

Final Thoughts on Visiting Las Vegas in the Month of March

All of the possible events to attend above are just extras, to be fair. The main attractions in Las Vegas remain its amazing nightlife, casinos, and surrounding day trips into the desert.

Keep in mind that Las Vegas will start seeing price increases as the crowds return. The days are warmer, and so are the tables. The huge events are also back, starting with the NCAA tournament rounds and the NASCAR weekend visit.

It’s pleasant throughout the day in March, but it becomes a bit cool at night. But, because the winter has been mild, I’m wondering if March will be particularly hot.

The skies are usually bright, and the powerful Las Vegas sun may make it feel warmer than the thermometer indicates.

Even if it isn’t summer, bring a swimsuit because the resort pools reopen in March. You can relax in the hot tub even if it isn’t warm enough to lounge by the pool.

March is an excellent month to visit Las Vegas. Typically, the weather is bright and comfortable. Throughout the day, temperatures climb to summer-like levels, although they remain far from the intense summer heat.

In March, hotels on and off the strip might be crowded. There are several trade and industrial shows, as well as conventions.

Adele, Usher, Maroon 5, Foreigner, Miranda Lambert, and Luke Bryan will perform in Las Vegas in March 2023, as will Tim Allen, Daniel Tosh, Tom Segura, and Kevin Hart.

6. Save Money With a Tourist Pass

If you’re planning to visit a lot of attractions, take more than one tour, or enjoy multiple shows while in Las Vegas, a tourist pass could save you 50% or more.

There are three different types of this service available in Sin City: all-inclusive, flex pass, and build-your-own pass.

This allows you to save a few bucks even if you don’t want to get carried away.

If you’re not interested in a lot of different shows or activities, building your own pass is probably your best bet.

However, if you plan to visit at least 4-5 attractions, an all-inclusive pass will most likely provide the best value.

This option includes admission to dozens of tours, shows, and popular locations for a specific amount of time (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 days).

Finally, the flex pass allows you to pay one flat price for a set number of activities (3, 4, 5, or 7).

While this is a great option for expensive attractions, the build-your-own pass would be better for services that are already somewhat affordable.

7. Go to a Cirque du Soleil Show

8. Visit America's First Permanent Punk Rock Museum

Just opened a year ago, the Punk Rock Museum is what some are calling a "Love Letter to Punk".

This 12,000-foot museum celebrates the music that first appeared 45 years ago, bringing with it not just a new sound, but fashion and pop culture.

You'll find such items as Devo's energy dome helmets, Debbie Harry's Vultures shirt, and interactive exhibits that include musical instruments.

It will also share the story of punk, and explain how it's impacted future generations of musicians.

All of this can be found at 1422 Western Avenue, not far from The Strip.

9. Take a Trip to the Grand Canyon

There’s never a bad time to see this incredible natural landmark, but with the weather getting even nicer in March, this could be a great time to experience the Grand Canyon.

This event is entirely free to attend, but you might want to bring some cash just in case you find something you just can’t live without!

Las Vegas is a world of imagination. Just close your eyes and think about anything, and the odds are in your favor that you'll find it in Las Vegas. I mean, in only four miles of real estate, you can see relics from all parts of the world, like ancient Egypt, modern-day Venice, the streets of Paris, and the New York skyline. If that seems too kitschy, don't worry, there are plenty of elaborate resorts with non-stop gaming and over-the-top entertainment waiting to greet you. Where else in the world does a wonderland like this exist? Nowhere. But. Vegas.

The atmosphere of Las Vegas is something that you almost have to experience to understand fully. It's the ringing of chimes as a guest just hit the jackpot, the thumping bass from the club, the smell of unique and eclectic delicacies waiting to be tasted, and it's people-watching like nothing you've seen before. It's a never-ending source of irony and improbability where you can turn a chip and a chair into a million dollars.

For each visitor, Las Vegas is going to present a unique experience. It's like an equation where you + more = more of you: more chances to explore your personality, more opportunities to experiment with new ideas, and more thrills to discover around every corner. The Vegas climate's bark is worse than its bite. Sure, summer highs hover around 100°F, but with no humidity and ever-present air-conditioning, you'll be comfortable as long as you have water on hand. Even the warmer months (June-September) are entirely bearable if you hydrate. Luckily, with 300 days of sunshine a year, the chances of a rain-out are slim. On the other hand, nights can be chilly between late fall and early spring, so bring a sweater or windbreaker for your evening strolls beneath the neon-bathed skies. Las Vegas doesn't have a high or low season by the standard definition, but you'll find it the least crowded between November and January. Hotels are at their fullest July through October. Specific events—New Year's Eve, spring break, major conventions, sporting events—draw big crowds, so plan accordingly.

The Desert Rose Resort, just 2 blocks from the southern part of the Strip, is a great choice for couples on a budget. It boasts a range of contemporary condominium suites with private patios or balconies. As it doesn’t host on-site bars or clubs, it’s ideal for those looking for something quieter. Just seven minutes from the airport by car, head north onto McCarran Airport Connector then left onto E. Tropicana Ave. After 1.6 miles, turn left onto Duke Ellington Way – the resort is on the right.

With pool complexes, a range of signature bars and restaurants, and generously-sized suites, it’s an ideal honeymoon resort. The resort offers tax assistance and features on shuttle service routes to and from the airport (just 7 minutes away, though usually longer via shuttle). If driving from McCarran International, head north onto McCarran Airport Connector and left onto E. Tropicana Ave., then right onto Audrie St. and left towards the resort entrance.

The Wynne Las Vegas is a dazzling luxurious resort, featuring a full casino, dozens of boutiques and matchlessly designed amenities. The hotel doesn’t offer a free shuttle service, but is located directly on the Strip, and is easily reachable (around 12 minutes) from McCarran International via cab or hired car.

The Four Seasons in Mandalay Bay offers glorious views of the surrounding desert mountains from chic, Art-Deco suites. Tips for Visiting Las Vegas in March

• Want to avoid crowds?  Don’t come during Spring Break or March Madness.
• Pack layers  – it will get cool at night, and AC is always pumping indoors. I keep a light jacket in the car year-round.
• Don’t forget  sunscreen , sunglasses, a hat, or any other gear for sun protection if you’re doing  outdoor activities.
• Visiting on a budget?  These are the top  25 free things to do in Las Vegas .
• Buy tickets early  to popular shows and events. They sell out quickly!
• Save money on last-minute tickets  at Tix4Vegas booths at Bally’s Grand Bazaar Shops, Showcase Mall, and Casino Royale if you’re flexible with shows (most likely not the popular ones). Tickets on Demand has permanently closed.
• Read all the fine print  before you go. Some shows have limitations on what you can bring in (for instance, no large bags).
• Stay on the Strip  if you want a quintessential touristy Vegas experience. Here are the  top things to do on the Las Vegas Strip .
• Stay in Downtown Vegas  if you want to hang out with locals in East Fremont. Here are the  top things to do in Downtown Las Vegas  (DTLV)
• Arrive early  at the shows/events. Casinos can be a maze to navigate. In addition, it usually takes longer than you think to get from one spot on the strip to another.
• Save money on multiple attractions with the All-Inclusive or Explorer Pass .

What to Wear in Vegas in March

March is warming up, especially during the day, but it still gets cold at night.

• Bring layers – layers are essential for visiting Las Vegas in March. These are our favorite travel jackets .
• Dressy clothes – pack them if you plan on going clubbing or eating fine dining. You will see a mix of tourists in casinos dressed up and down.
• Shoes –  If you’re going out at night, you’ll probably bring heels or dress shoes, but make sure you bring a pair of comfortable travel shoes as well. The casinos are massive, and you walk a lot to get from place to place.

Is March the Best Time to Visit Las Vegas

If you’re primarily staying on the Strip, you can visit year-round since you won’t be spending much time outdoors.

For outdoor activities, visit between November and March. If you want warmer weather for pools or lakes, you’ll want to wait a couple more months.

Downtown Las Vegas Trip Report March 2023

Kristina and I went downtown and walked through all 12 casinos in the Fremont Street Experience area on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

We started at Plaza. The front entrance is one massive construction project. The picture below is the carousel bar nearing completion.

There was little difference at Plaza from our previous visits. All the table games were $10, except single zero roulette, which was $15. I don’t recall seeing single zero roulette open on Tuesday afternoons in the past. 

Golden Gate lowered its limits from our past visits. Blackjack , craps , and roulette were $10. We had $15 for several of our previous surveys.  

Circa was the biggest surprise. I never saw a $10 blackjack or roulette game there before yesterday. There were multiple open tables for each. Craps was $15 and idle.

We walked through Main Street Station, but there was nothing notable as the tables are closed during the week. Nothing else looked different. It was nearly empty.

California was the same as it has always been. The tables were mostly $15, with some $10 poker pit games. Pai gow poker was $25. Craps was $15. It had no players. 

The Binion’s pit was mostly open. Most games had a $10 minimum bet. Craps was $15 and had no action. I did not see a single player at a $15 table in downtown Las Vegas. All those were empty. About half of the $10 tables had action. 

Golden Nugget was its usual self. There were endless $5 table games that include a huge variety of poker pit games like Let it Ride , Crazy 4 Poker , and High Card Flush . Golden Nugget was packed when every other casino was slow. It seemed these $5 tables were part of the reason. Craps was $10 and had two busy tables. Golden Nugget has the last Fortune Pai Gow Poker table left in downtown Las Vegas. It had a $15 minimum bet.

Nothing had changed at Fremont. The open games were mostly $15, except 6/5 blackjack with a mandatory side bet was $11. Fremont still has the only Texas Hold’em Bonus game in the entire Las Vegas market. It shows a $10 minimum bet. It only seems to be open at peak hours. The new food court was busy. I liked being able to walk out the back of it to Ogden. There is a lot of work happening inside Fremont. Many of the electronic table games were missing due to that.

Downtown Grand did not have a live craps game open. I don’t know if it has $5 craps these days. I have seen it for $10 the last two times and now it was closed in the late afternoon. A $3 hybrid craps game was installed that seems to have taken over for it. Downtown Grand had $5 roulette, Ultimate Texas Hold’em , and 3/2 blackjack open. 

El Cortez had all $10 tables. I think there are a few dozen missing coin games from our last visit. There may be fewer than 100 left on the property. 

We ended the afternoon at The D.  We played some uneventful video poker at Vue Bar before heading over to Plaza. 

Sand Dollar Lounge has become our favorite video poker bar

Sand Dollar Lounge is non-smoking. It also has several 99% and better video poker games . The staff is great. It is becoming one of our favorite spots. 

Sand Dollar has been open for close to a year. At first, it seemed out of place, and I didn’t go in there often. It grew on me. I don’t know if it is my getting older, the slow pandemic years creating less smoke, or getting spoiled at Sand Dollar, but the smoke at video poker bars is becoming too much for me. It is nice to have great games somewhere smoking is not an issue.

Plaza is opening a non-smoking casino floor near its front entrance later this year. It will be the first of its kind in downtown Las Vegas.

Best Times To Visit Las Vegas

The best time to visit Las Vegas is from March to May and from September to November. While you'll find plenty of travel deals throughout the year, the spring and fall shoulder seasons offer the most moderate weather. Sin City welcomes an influx of visitors during the winter months, especially surrounding New Year's Eve, the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day, and the sweltering summers see daytime temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. That is quite honestly a terrible move. Anyway, I am going to be taking you through the biggest and brightest of Las Vegas, from the Bellagio Fountain to the EPIC Las Vegas skyline, with a ton of info, insider tips, and unique places to visit .

This 3-day itinerary is organised with action from day 1! There is a lot to cover, and since Las Vegas is quite expensive, I expect you not to be able to hit every single attraction I’ve laid out. Take the bones, and use what I’ve gathered to give your trip that special X-factor! It should be easy in Vegas.

There is a top selection of things to do in Las Vegas , and definitely not enough time! I’ve added some saucy extras to my list in case your trip sadly ends up being longer than you planned. Oh no 🙂

Fremont Street in Downtown Vegas is especially popular, and one of the oldest Las Vegas points of interest. Accommodation in this part of the city is more affordable and just a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip!

Day 1 is all about the strip. There are some things that you gotta do, and Day 1 of your Las Vegas Itinerary is all about ticking those boxes…

8:00 am – Check the Fabulous Las Vegas Sign

Every top class Vegas trip starts here. Admittedly, it is seriously touristy, but that shouldn’t stop you from clicking a few picks!

Not only is it pretty essential las Vegas viewing, but it is superbly located upon the Strip, and this gives you a great starting point for the day’s activities. I’d recommend taking the time to stop for an awesome breakfast near the sign.

There are a few great places to mange yourself nearby, including The Egg Shop, Della’s Kitchen and BBQ Mexicana if you fancy a spicy start to the day! If you fancy getting an attraction done early, this is your opportunity to tick the Pinball Hall of Fame off your list! It’s a great little attraction that will start you off before you start playing with the big boys.

• Getting there  – You can drive or taxi, but there is also the ‘Las Vegas Sign’ bus stop right outside

10:00 pm – Mandalay Bay Casino and Beach

Our second stop for the day is your first chance to get hands on with a Las Vegas Casino. The Mandalay Bay Casino offers all of your favourite table games, including blackjack, poker, craps, and roulette. You’ll also find 1,200 slot and video poker machines! If you fancy a small flutter, I won’t tell.

If you’re with kids, see the Mandalay Bay Beach, an eleven-acre aquatic playground! Swim, splash, and soak up the sun at this popular Vegas attraction. Relax on the lazy river, ride a tide in the wave pool, or lounge in the lagoon. Check out the Beach Bar & Grill and the Bikini Bar for all your favorite pool-side snacks and drinks! This attraction is open seasonally, so if you travel to Las Vegas during the warmer months make sure to check it out!

New to the Mandalay Bay is the Polar Journey Exhibit. Get a glimpse into the earth’s polar regions and animals that call it home. You’ll be immersed through eight interactive exhibits including touch walls, teaching robot penguins, stimulated ice flow, and more excited features! This Las Vegas itinerary stop is fun for all ages!

• How long should I stay here?  It’s easy to spend the whole day here! 2 hours is a good amount, however.
• Getting there  – It’s a fifteen-minute walk from the Las Vegas Sign. There is lots to see en route, so don’t worry about getting bored!

12:00 pm – The Republica Statue of Liberty and Leo the Lion

Continuing our odyssey upon the Strip, as we slowly meander northward, we’re going to hit the Republica Statue of Liberty, and Leo the Lion. Paris Las Vegas is somewhere around here too…

Anyway, this section of the Las Vegas strip is so busy you just have to walk it. Your mind will be left blown and wondering when Alice in Wonderland became a corporate entity. There is so much going on, and every casino has made an effort to stand out from the crowd.

Take the opportunity now to stop for a bit of lunch! There is a superb selection of great restaurants to dine at, and if you fancy something cheap, you shouldn’t have trouble locating something easy either. Try the New York Pizzeria, Panda Express (a classic Chinese fast food), and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers. Top munch.

• How long should I stay here?  Lunchtime! Around 1.5 hours should be enough to grab something to eat.
• Getting there  – Heading out into desert heat for another 15 minutes. Sorry guys, but I promise you it is worth it! Yes, we’ll get to the Bellagio…

2:00 pm – Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens

The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden is a truly enchanting and magical attraction in Vegas. The exhibits are beautifully and intricately put together by talented horticulturalists and designers who transform a floral playground into the sights and colours of the different seasons. The aroma is gently fragrant with the sweet smell of flowers in bloom.

The attention to detail is astounding and the passionate display of nature lets your imagination wander! Enjoy a leisurely stroll through one of the most picturesque areas in Las Vegas.

This attraction is best enjoyed during the day when you can witness the rays of sunshine streaming in through the glass roof and large windows. However, it is usually less crowded during the later hours of the evening. Pick the time that works best with your Las Vegas itinerary!

• How long should I stay here?  Around 1.5 hours. Again, it’s easy to get lost and trapped inside the Bellagio. Don’t!
• Getting there  – Again, a 20-minute walk up the strip! We’re going to power through…

3:30 pm – Fountains at Bellagio

You might think that choreographed routes in Vegas are limited to showgirls, but even the water can put on a captivating performance! The Fountains at Bellagio provide a dynamic and lively waterworks show!

The fountain projects streams of water that dance with lights and music; the choreography and overall synchronization are highly entertaining! Famous and recognizable musical tunes are chosen to complement this display. Once the sun sets, the lights come on and the show becomes even more delightful!

The fountains are surprisingly large, so you can catch a show from many different places on the Strip. Of course, nothing beats being directly in front of the fountains! Make sure to show up a little early to guarantee a good viewing spot. A lot of hotels facing the Bellagio Hotel will have views of the fountains as well. This free and easily accessible attraction is a must on any Vegas itinerary!

There are shows at regular intervals throughout the day. Monday through Friday the show runs every thirty minutes from 3:00 pm to 8:00, and every fifteen minutes after dark. On Saturdays and Sundays, the start time is earlier but the shows run every thirty minutes during the day and every fifteen-minutes after dark.

• How long should I stay here?  Around five to ten minutes. You can stay for more than one show if you fancy!
• Getting there  – Step outside and grab a great viewing spot!

4:15 pm – High Roller Observation Wheel at The LINQ

This High Roller observation wheel at the LINQ Hotel and Casino is a 550-foot tall, 520-foot diameter giant Ferris wheel! Located on the Las Vegas Strip, it has been operating since 2014 and is currently the world’s tallest Ferris Wheel!

It features glass-enclosed pod cabins with wonderful 360-degree views of the Strip and the Vegas Valley. The wheel takes 30 minutes to complete one rotation and features 28 spacious cabins. This is a must-do in Vegas for first-timers, there’s really no other experience like it!

Of course, since this is Las Vegas, guests have the option of upgrading their high roller experience to a happy hour ticket! This option includes an in-cabin open bar and a bartender to serve you unlimited drinks for the entire half hour! Guests must be 21 and older to ride in the happy hour cabin.

If you don’t want to purchase an unlimited happy-hour ticket but still want to enjoy a drink, you can also purchase drinks at the wheelhouse bar, located at the base of the giant observation wheel. The best time to experience this attraction is at night so you can see all the lights of Vegas shimmering from above!

Following the wheel, you’re gonna have some time to yourself, so grab a shower, dinner, and some downtime, and be back for your Cirque du Soleil show!

9:00 pm – Cirque du Soleil

What makes this show to a whole new level is the incorporation of water. The cast is made up of eighty-five acrobats, synchronized swimmers, and divers who perform in and above a one-and-a-half million-gallon pool! You’ll be enchanted by underwater magic for ninety minutes!

The performance is accompanied by a mix of classical Western and world instrumental music. During the show, a live band plays to the side of the stage behind a glass wall. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company known for its epic productions and unique staging, and this show is no different!

Located in the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, this show has been in permanent residence since October 1998. Performances are usually given twice a day. If you’re spending a weekend in Las Vegas, we recommend booking your tickets in advance.

Insider Tip: Cirque du Soleil is insanely popular amongst visitors. That’s why it’s important to book your tickets well ahead of time. Luckily, there are multiple shows spread throughout the week and you’ve got plenty to choose from!

11:00 pm onwards – Caesars Palace

It’s a little cheeky for me to add this one to the list, but why not hey? You came to Vegas for a reason. A nightlife you can experience nowhere else…

This Las Vegas Strip Staple has appeared in countless movies including “The Hangover” and “Ironman”. It’s one of the top Las Vegas’ landmarks and has a lot more to offer than just gambling.

Enjoy the architecture as you walk around the massive columns and frescoes paying tribute to the casino’s namesake. The ancient Rome aesthetic of this casino is truly stunning, with gilded and ornate detail everywhere you look!

The spiral escalators at the entrance to the mall are truly enchanting, as is the rest of this mall’s  grand and gilded interior! At the end of the Forum Shops, there is a 50,000-gallon saltwater Atlantis aquarium that features more than 300 colorful tropical fish!

You’ll also find one of Sin City’s most famous nightclubs inside Caesars Palace, Omnia nightclub. This lavish club has frequent celebrity hosts and popular DJs that play throughout the year. It is one of Vegas’ most upscale nightclubs; there are several dance floors and the venue’s rooftop offers unparalleled views of the Strip! Put this stop on your Las Vegas itinerary if you want to experience the best of Vegas nightlife!

Insider Tip: Check out the Fall of Atlantis show, located next to the Atlantis aquarium. This free show recounts the myth of Atlantis and entertains audiences with special effects, including animatronic figures, fire, and water! The show plays every hour on the hour, starting at 11:00 am.

Ok, you’ve been to the Strip. You’ve seen a casino. Now it is time to get out into the wilderness. And maybe stop for a cocktail at lunch. Sound ok?

9:30 am – Check out the wilderness of the Red Rock Canyon

You’ve probably had enough of people by now, particularly tourists. Now is your chance to escape most of the crowds, and see some of the extraordinary Nevada scenery.

Since it is so close, it is a massive waste to go! Yes, the casinos are cool, but how about a massive pile of desert rocks? Especially if you’re a stranger to desert landscapes, there is nothing to be lost exploring this awesome example of geology.

The Red Rock Canyon can take up more of a day depending on how much you’re into hiking. You can also hire bikes to explore the area, or even do it by horseback!

• How long should I stay here?  Around 2.5 hours
• Getting there  – It’s a half an hour drive west of central Las Vegas

12:30 pm – Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower

Okay, it’s about lunchtime, so time to head back to the strip for a little lunch and light entertainment.

There are some pretty cool things to do at the Stratosphere Resort and Casino . For one, check out the observation deck that sits at the top of the tallest freestanding tower in the U.S. It offers stunning 360-degree views of the Strip!

Dine at the Top of The World Restaurant, the only rotating fine-dining restaurant in Las Vegas.  Enjoy amazing views of the city as the restaurant revolves 350-degrees every 80-minutes!

Get your scream on at the Stratosphere’s Skypod Thrill Rides. Located on top of the Stratosphere, there are three attractions that guests can ride for an enthralling experience. You’ll dangle over the building, blast 160-feet straight up, and catapult twenty-seven feet over the Tower’s edge! 

For even more of an adrenaline rush, check out Skyjump. At this Vegas attraction, you’ll take an open-air leap off the Stratosphere, from 829-feet above the Strip. Enjoy the heart-pounding excitement as you rush forty mph to the landing pad down below. Make sure to schedule this into your Vegas itinerary for at least three days if you’re into adventurous activities!

• Getting there  – 30 min Drive back from the Red Rock Canyon. I wish there were things to do en route too…

3:00 pm – Try out the Escape Blair Witch escape room

Have you ever fancied scaring yourself completely silly? Testing your wits against a crafty escape room designer? Running away from horrifying actors?

Then you are going to adore heading to the Escape Blair Witch escape room. Right next door is the Saw experience, which is an escape room of the aforementioned theme.

Whilst there is a crazy amount to see on the strip, this will give you an experience that you certainly won’t forget. It’s widely loved, and seems to be great value for money. If you’re thinking about adding this to your Las Vegas itinerary, make sure to book in advance, since slots can get taken quickly, especially in summer months!

• Getting there  – Walk around the block! 5-10 minute stroll.

5:00 pm – Eiffel Tower Experience

Get the best view of the Las Vegas Strip with these high-altitude attractions! The Paris Las Vegas is a half-scale replica of the actual Eiffel Tower in Paris. You’ll ride a glass elevator forty-six stories up to the top, which allows you to get an unobscured view of your surroundings.

The Paris Las Vegas is located in the middle of the Strip, making this a great place to take stunning photos of Vegas main attractions close-up. Guests are allowed to stay at the top as long as they’d like!

This enchanting tower puts on a show of lights every thirty-minutes from sunset to midnight. Inspired by the real Eiffel Tower’s lights in France, it features choreographed twinkling light displays for visitors to enjoy each night!

Insider Tip: This attraction is best enjoyed at night, you’ll see incredible views of the Las Vegas Strip lite up with a shimmering of lights and get the best views of the Bellagio fountains!

7:00 pm – Top your Insta up at the Seven Magic Mountains

Heading out for sunset at the Seven Magic Mountains is an influencer worthy occupation. Or just something fun to do. There is nothing weirder than a bloke who has stacked some multicoloured rocks in a desert, and you get to enjoy this bizarre spectacle!

The art installation cost $3.5 million of state taxpayers’ money to install, and that is most likely one of the reasons why people make such a massive fuss of it. What greater to way to spend your time than to see how your tax dollars are being wasted?!?

Anyway, it is artistic and cool, so drop by for a wicked sunset! This multi-coloured exhibit has a very strange appeal. Afterwards, get a relaxed evenings rest. The 3rd day is again pretty full on!

8:30 am – Walk the Mob Museum

The Mob Museum seeks to advance the understanding of organized crime, and the impact it has had on American society. Explore this Las Vegas hidden gems , learn real-life stories, and hear about actual events from the Mob’s history.

Take a self-guided tour where you’ll see interactive exhibits, informative displays, and videos – all you need is an entry-ticket!

The museum spans three-floors; as of 2018 a fully operational speakeasy and distillery exhibit is now open for visitors in the basement. Learn about the history of American prohibition while sipping on hand-crafted prohibition-era cocktails!

Warning : This museum displays graphic photos of murder victims, therefore this attraction is not recommended for children.

10:45 am – The Fremont Street Experience

Discover old-school Vegas at the Fremont Street Experience. Located in historic Downtown Las Vegas, this is one of the city’s original streets; it dates back to 1905 when Las Vegas was founded! 

Today, Fremont Street offers a vibrant and lively atmosphere. This seven-block district possesses theworld’s largest LED video screen, called Viva Vision. This 1,500-feet long and 90-feet wide screen canopies over the street and shimmers with bright, changing lights!

The Slotzilla zip-line lets you fly over Fremont street like a superhero (or a seated position if you prefer). Get a unique view of one of Vegas’ most popular streets as you glide over the crowd!

You’ll see all sorts of street performers on this energetic street. From rappers and Vegas showgirls, to cartoon characters; Fremont Street really has it all! This is one of the best places to people watch, you’ll see people dressed in all sorts of costumes. Some are hilarious, some amusingly unconventional, and some…not for kids.

Most of the bars, restaurants, and casinos found on Fremont Street are slightly less expensive than those found on The Strip. This is also a great place to pick up your Vegas souvenirs at an affordable price!

Live music shows play regularly in designated areas of the street. Grab a drink at any number of bars found nearby and enjoy some free entertainment! You should be able to get a great lunch here too!

2:00 pm – Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian

This picturesque shopping mall features cobblestone walkways and an illuminated painted ceiling made to reflect the sky. The Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian feature a quarter-mile-long stretch of shops and restaurants with more than 160 signature stores, including many luxury brands.

There are a handful of restaurants, many led by award-winning chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse! You don’t have to be a fan of shopping to enjoy the shops’ Old World Italian design.

For a fun and romantic Vegas activity, take a Venetian gondola ride! Float beneath bridges, under balconies, and beside cafes as your singing gondolier glides through the Grand Canal in an authentic Venetian gondola!

Explore the vibrant Venetian streetscape inside the shopping center, or choose the outdoor gondola ride and experience the open-air right on the Las Vegas Strip! This indoor theme park is located in the Circus Circus Resort and Casino. The theme park sits inside a large pink-tinted glass dome. There are twenty-five rides and attractions at the park, including roller coasters, a miniature golf course, climbing walls, a roller skating rink, and laser tag!

Check out the latest arcade video games located throughout the park, including virtual reality games! Find your favorite classic arcade games in their unlimited classic arcade area, where you can play all day!

Enjoy free clown shows daily at noon, 1pm, 3pm, and 4pm, with additional showtimes on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you’re looking for a break from the casinos and bars, this is the perfect place to bring the family for an afternoon of fun and excitement! You could easily spend hours here, so we’d recommend this stop if your planning an itinerary to spend more than three days in Las Vegas.

Explore the Las Vegas Strip

Las Vegas is known for its lavish resorts, buzzing casinos, and world-class restaurants, but to discover the true essence of Vegas we recommend exploring the areas outside these busy buildings!

The entire Strip is less than five miles, but don’t worry, you don’t have to walk its entirety to experience the uniqueness of this extravagant street. Although, if you choose to, the whole street is pedestrian-friendly. There are footbridges at all main intersections for pedestrians to safely cross!

Both sides of the Strip are lined with hotels, casinos, shops, restaurants, and just about anything you can imagine! You’ll see a wide range of street performers and be able to take pictures of all the iconic Vegas attractions!

The whole Strip runs in a straight line, making it easy to give yourself your own Las Vegas walking tour! Of course, if you’re not keen on walking, there are other options. Joining an open-top bus tour will give you the ultimate strip experience without tiring your feet!

Insider Tip: Police allow people to walk down the Strip and the Fremont Street Experience with alcoholic beverages, as long as they’re in plastic containers (no bottles or cans). Also, there are many dispensaries around the Strip, but smoking in public isn’t legal.

Head out to the Grand Canyon

If you’re in Vegas, you ain’t far from the Grand Canyon! Admittedly, it is still a long way to go (around a 4 hour car journey each way), but the views are definitely worth it! The scenery on the drive is pretty epic too.

Encompassing 278 miles of the Colorado river, the Grand Canyon is an extraordinary sight, and is on pretty much every tourists must-visit list! Even though it can get busy, it is still very much worth seeing. Don’t let the distance put you off!

You can even take a helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon, complete with picnic lunch at the bottom (large-insanely large level budgets only).

• Getting there  – 4 hour drive east of Las Vegas. Sadly.

Las Vegas is alive with tourism all year. Summers do reach higher temperatures, but lots of Las Vegas attractions take place inside air-conditioned buildings or outside next to a pool! No matter the season, there’s always something to do in Vegas!

The summer months (June-August) produce hot temperatures. It’s not uncommon for the weather to stay around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Luckily, the weather drops down at night and becomes much more enjoyable.

Fall (September-November) is a great time to plan a trip to Las Vegas. The weather is mild and enjoyable.

You’ll want a light jacket during the winter months (December – February). Although temperatures never get too cold, the air does get a bit chilly, especially at night.

Spring (March-May) produces warm days and blue skies. If you’re trying to decide when to visit Las Vegas, this is another great time!

During your first day in Las Vegas, you’re going to need to figure out how to get around! Luckily, this city is extremely tourist friendly, and all forms of transportation are easy to use and very convenient.

The Las Vegas Deuce is a bus that runs throughout the city. There are two buses that run specifically through the areas of the Las Vegas Strip and Downtown. Take the ‘Deuce on the Strip’ bus for convenient transportation to many of the properties located on the Strip.

Uber and Lyft are popular ride-sharing services and offer travelers an easy and convenient form of transportation. Most Las Vegas resorts, hotels, and casinos will have designated pick-up and drop-off areas that you will need to find to catch a ride. These areas are usually marked with signs near the hotel’s entrances/exits. Be sure to find these areas before hailing your ride (I know, but it happens)

Las Vegas is a very pedestrian friendly city. The main attraction in Las Vegas is the Strip, which is literally a single street. You can walk up and down the Strip to see the main highlights of Vegas, and it’s extremely easy to navigate!

Whether you’re planning a three day trip to Vegas or a month long sabbatical, you’re going to want to make sure you pack the right gear !

Remember that Vegas gets hot, so if you’re visiting in Summer, you can spare the coats. It is in the middle of a desert after all!

In terms of safety, Vegas is a cash-heavy city, which means pickpockets are active. Keep your valuables close to your body and stay extra vigilant in crowded areas.

It is common for party promoters to frequent the Strip and attempts to sell VIP passes or discounted tickets to shows or clubs. Although some are legit, it is important to note that some are not.

Scammers are very active in Las Vegas and it is important to stay vigilant and trust your instincts. There are a number of secure and trusted ticket locations in the city that sell tickets to Vegas attractions; purchasing from these types of vendors is a much safer option.

Of course, it is Vegas, so if you plan to drink more than you normally would, try and keep your wits about you, and never leave your drink unattended.

Recreational marijuana is legal in Vegas. Be sure to purchase from a dispensary, and say no to anyone on the street that tries to sell to you as it may be laced. It’s only legal to smoke in private residences. If you walk down the street with a lit joint, you can be fined by one of the many cops.

What is the Coolest Things you can do on a Trip to Vegas?

Try visiting Caesar’s Palace and its sensational multi-storey nightclub, hiking in Red Rock Canyon, and enjoying the waterpark at the Mandalay hotel. There are a ton of really cool things to do in Vegas, so just keep your eyes peeled on the strip, and you will stumble onto any number. Heading to downtown Las Vegas is a great option too, for the Mob museum and Fremont Street.

Try and get out to Red Rock Canyon and the Seven Magical Mountains at some point though.

Las Vegas attraction announces layoffs

L AS VEGAS (KLAS) – Three months have passed since Atomic Golf Las Vegas swung open its doors for customers, but now the entertainment venue is announcing layoffs.

Atomic Golf Las Vegas previously announced in Nov. 2023 the intention to hire more than 500 people, during what the company called a “hiring blitz.”

The location located next to The STRAT Hotel & Casino  offered customers  four floors of golf bays with access to food, beverage, and other entertainment options.

Atomic Golf Las Vegas responded to an 8 News Now request regarding layoffs at their only location on Las Vegas Boulevard.

“We can confirm that there have been recent layoffs at Atomic Golf Las Vegas,” the company wrote in a statement. “We appreciate the dedication and contributions of all our employees and extend our gratitude to those who have been impacted.”

8 News Now visited the attraction Friday and spoke to staff at Atomic Golf Las Vegas who confirmed a “substantial” number of staff had been laid off in May.

The golfing venue did have two floors of the four floors of their business full on Friday with multiple group events being catered by staff.

Kelci Balkcom, event sales manager for Atomic Golf Las Vegas, recently highlighted to 8 News Now the multiday event titled  “Heatwave”  which will take place during Memorial Day Weekend.

Atomic Golf Las Vegas did not respond to 8 News Now questions regarding how many staff were laid off and what day it occurred.

Spring surge: Over 3.5 million visit Southern Nevada in April, a jump from same month in 2023

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Tourist visitation to Las Vegas saw a spike in April, according to figures released this week by the city's tourism authority.

Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority officials say just over 3.5 million people visited the city in April, which represented nearly a 4% increase from the same month in 2023.

The report also showed that Las Vegas hotel occupancy saw modest increases for weekend and mid-week dates in April. The overall average daily hotel room rate — a metric closely tracked by resort operators and tourism officials — came in at just over $182 in April, a jump of 7% from the same month last year.

Largely because of some shifting schedule dates, convention attendance (503,500) was up 36% in April when compared to April 2023, according to the LVCVA.

Airport officials also released April statistics Thursday, which showed that just under 4.9 million passengers came through Harry Reid International for the month. That was up just slightly from April 2023, according to the monthly report.

Through April, the airport has handled 18.6 million passengers, putting it on a pace to eclipse last year's record of 57.6 million passengers.

In 2023, just under 41 million people visited Las Vegas.

'The Trilogy Tour' to make stop in Las Vegas this November

Las Vegas (KSNV) — Three Latin music icons are joining forces with a one-of-a-kind concert experience, coming to the valley later this year.

Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, and Pitbull, recently announced that they would be sharing the stage for the first time ever for their upcoming 'The Trilogy Tour.'

The limited, 19-date North American tour will begin on October 14 in Washington D.C., and end on December 10 in Vancouver, Canada.

The trio is slated to make a stop in Las Vegas on Friday, November 24, 2023, at T-Mobile Arena. Other stops include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Seattle.

Each artist will feature a unique headlining set at each show throughout the tour. Fans can expect an unforgettable night of music as the stars deliver a mix of their biggest career-spanning hits with influences of reggaeton, salsa pop, dance, and more.

A Verified Fan system through AXS will be used in anticipation of tickets being in high demand. Concert-goers will have the chance to register now through Sunday, June 4 at 11:59 p.m. ET for the verified presale.

Fans who are selected to receive an access code will be able to participate in the Verified Fan presale starting Wednesday, June 7. A limited number of tickets will then be sold during a general on sale starting Friday, June 9 at 10 a.m. PT, while supplies last.
