Locally owned, St. Pete Sailing Charters offers Day Sails and Sunset Cruises in Tampa Bay. Our Morgan 44 foot Sailboat, Satori, is a beautiful Florida-built classic!  Owners Nick and Kelly spent several years sailing and exploring the Caribbean Islands. Their travels can be seen on the popular YouTube channel, ‘Sailing Satori.’ They have taken a break from sailing the world and have returned to Tampa Bay to raise a family and share their love of sailing. 3 days. If you cancel within 3 days of departure, 100% of your booking price will be charged. If the captain must cancel due to weather, there is no charge to you.

We do this full time and this is our livelihood year round. Many other operators are seasonal, retired, or owners just trying to pay for their personal expenses of owning a boat. Our vessel is documented and registered under our business’s LLC and used solely for business operation. Many have paid Captains who do not have the same expectations of quality that us as owner/operators have. We take your satisfaction personally.

Only during extremely cold weather are boat shoes acceptable. I’ll email the day of if shoes are ok. Otherwise, we require bare feet. We don’t wear shoes in our home and we don’t wear shoes on our yacht. You won’t find a cleaner charter vessel in all of Tampa Bay. (We’re neat freaks!) Lick the bottom of your shoes in front of me and I’ll allow them aboard.

Yes. Soft-sided coolers only. Red wine or other staining beverages are NOT allowed. If your cooler is large and has wheels and handlebars, it’s too big and NOT allowed. Glass bottles are OK. Glass stemware (wine glasses) NOT OK. Drinking is encouraged, but getting sloppy drunk is not.

Yes, but please… no items that are greasy, drippy, or saucy. Remember, this is a sailboat and there is wind. Light weight items (lids, plastic, paper) will want to fly out of your hands. Finger foods rule. Leave the refrigerator at home. We recommend beverages only. For a no-fuss snack onboard, add our “Luxury Picnic Package” at checkout and let us handle it for you.

No. Our vessel is not equipped to handle the needs of a non human aboard. A monkey bit me once during a sail

The half day, 1/4 day, and sunset cruises sail in Tampa Bay, mostly near downtown St. Petersburg  and in the waters between Tampa and the Skyway Bridge. We are usually never farther than a few miles from shore at any time.

If it is raining or the winds are sustained over 25 mph, we will cancel the cruise and try to reschedule if possible. If during our cruise we have to come back early due to weather, we will prorate the charge. Please trust the Captain’s decision when it comes to weather or conditions. Safety of our guests and the vessel are top priority.

No. 6 Maximum as per Coast Guard regulations. Even if we had a 60′ vessel, still regulated to 6 passengers unless vessel is purposely built for commercial use and is issued a C.O.I. (Certificate of Inspection). Yes.. a small child or infant has a soul (most of the time) and counts as a person.

We see dolphins 90% of the time but cannot guarantee it. Barking like a dog or monkey sounds do attract dolphins. Pelican sightings are guaranteed.

We will set sail either two or four hours before sunset and take a relaxing cruise on the calm, protected waters of Tampa Bay. Your Captain will set you up for a memorable sunset picture as the sun sets on the horizon alongside the beautiful downtown St. Petersburg skyline. As we depart the marina, It’s a short motor out of Bayboro Harbor and into Tampa Bay. We will hoist the sails and set off toward the famous Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It’s about a 2-hour sail until we pass under the monstrous 430-foot high bridge, continuing on for another hour before we reach Egmont Key. At any time, a dolphin, manatee, turtle, ray, or shark can make an appearance.

Upon arrival, your captain will drop anchor and prepare the dinghy for the short shuttle ride to the beach. Once on shore, you’ll find this enchanted island paradise is packed with surprises. Tortoises, Ruins, a Lighthouse, and the most beautiful beach you’ll ever see! This excursion will make you feel like you’re sailing to a remote Bahamas island.

After 2 hours of exploring, the captain will pick you up and bring you back to the yacht. We will then begin to make our way back, once again sailing under the Sunshine Skyway bridge.

If you have chosen to return in the evening, you will be greeted with the most amazing view of the setting sun as we approach St. Petersburg. Your captain will set the boat up for the perfect sunset photo before it disappears over the horizon. We will then drop the sails and motor back into the marina, just in time for you and your party to grab a late dinner in one of the many downtown St. Petersburg restaurants.

This is a full day of Sailing and Exploring. The natural beauty of Florida will be on full display and it will surely be a day your family will never forget.

My wife and I took a trip with Captain John this past Saturday and had a wonderful time. The ruins of the gun batteries were so cool to scuba dive around, the fish were out in force, and the water temperature was perfect. Captain John was not only entertaining but also very knowledgeable about the surrounding shores and their histories.

We had a great time and getting to see the tortoises and dolphins were some of the highlights of our trip. We would highly recommend you check them out if you are thinking about snorkeling in this area!

Helene has been downgraded to a tropical depression as its center pushes into southern Kentucky.

The 2 p.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center decreased winds to 35 mph, making Helene a tropical depression.

The system has dumped historic and catastrophic rainfall across portions of the Carolinas and Georgia, where flash flood emergencies remain in effect.

Helene is expected to continue to weaken and become an extratropical system later today.

12:40 p.m. update:

Over 4 million people in the southeastern U.S. are without power Friday afternoon due to Hurricane Helene.

Both South Carolina and Georgia have over 1 million residents without power, with Florida slightly below 1 million.

In Central Florida, the county with the largest number of outages is Marion, with 36,000 as of noon.

11:50 a.m. update:

Gov. Ron DeSantis is planning to hold another news conference Friday to share updates on the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

DeSantis plans to speak around 1:30 p.m. from the Woody’s Waterfront restaurant in St. Petersburg Beach.

Joining DeSantis will be Florida Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie and Major General John D. Haas, Adjutant General of Florida.

11 a.m. update:

Helene continues to race northward across the Southeast, producing historic and catastrophic flooding.

The 11 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center has the center 105 miles north-northeast of Atlanta, quickly moving to the north at 32 miles per hour.

Flash Flood Emergencies are in effect for Metro Atlanta and portions of Upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina.

The National Hurricane Center also estimates storm surge in the Big Bend region around Taylor County exceeded 15 feet above ground level during landfall of Helene Thursday night.

Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Joyce has formed in the open Atlantic.

The tenth named storm is over 1300 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

Joyce is expected to remain a tropical storm in the open Atlantic and eventually weaken and head out to sea early next week.

10:20 a.m. update:

Deputies in Lee County performed a daring rescue mission as Hurricane Helene barreled toward Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Deputies said a man called 911 as floodwaters took over his home.

Videos show deputies making their way through murky water to rescue the man.

9:30 a.m. update:

Gov. Ron DeSantis is giving an update Friday morning on Florida’s response after Hurricane Helene slammed the state.

8:40 a.m. update:

First responders in Florida came across an active house fire while navigating Hurricane Helene floodwaters by boat.

Crews from the South Pasadena Fire Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office found the scene while responding to water rescues.

Crews said they have been responding to as many emergency calls as possible.

7:50 a.m. update:

ABC News is reporting six people have died as a direct result of Hurricane Helene.

Officials have reported one death in Florida, four in Georgia, and one in North Carolina.

First responders are still actively looking for additional victims.

7:25 a.m. update:

Gov. Ron DeSantis is set to give an update Friday morning in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

DeSantis is planning to hold a news conference at 9 a.m. from the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee.

6:35 a.m. update:

Channel 9 meteorologists are monitoring a new area of disturbance in the Caribbean that could develop into a tropical system.

The National Hurricane Center says the low-pressure area has a less than 40% chance of development over the next week.

It’s still too soon to know where the system could go or how strong it could be if it becomes a named storm.

Channel 9 will continue to monitor all tropical activity and provide updates on Eyewitness News.

5:45 a.m. update:

Helene weakened to a strong tropical storm Friday morning.

Helene is moving farther inland over Georgia. The center of the storm is around nine miles from Atlanta.

Coastal areas of Georgia are still seeing life-threatening storm surges, strong winds and heavy rains.

Strong and fast-moving outer rain bands from Helene are still moving through parts of Central Florida.

4:55 a.m. update:

Hurricane Helene is rapidly moving north through Central Georgia.

It’s still unclear the extent of the damage that was left behind after Helene made landfall in Florida overnight.

Helene continues to produce hurricane-force winds and heavy rainfall.

A weather station at the University of Georgia reported 77 mph wind gusts Friday morning.

Helene has made landfall in the Florida Big Bend as a Category 4 major hurricane.

The storm made landfall just east of the mouth of the Aucilla River.

This is 10 miles west-southwest of Perry.

Winds are at 140 mph with a minimum pressure of 938 MB.
