Guide to Using the Princess MedallionClass app

princess cruise profile picture

At the moment, you cannot use the Medallion app to purchase excursions or spa appointments. To do this, you can use Princess’s Cruise Personalizer website .

To use the MedallionClass app for check-in process you will need: — booking number — have your passport handy — download the app in your phone’s app store

CRUISE CHECK-IN WITH MEDALLIONCLASS APP

If you already have an online account with Princess, you may enter your Princess username & password to sign in with the app. Then, if the Winter Heart 2022 cruise doesn’t show up automatically, you can tap the person icon in the top left corner, tap the + icon on the left side under “My Journeys” and link the cruise by entering your booking number. Once it is linked you will see “Your dream vacation starts in…” countdown at the top of the app’s home screen. If you do not already have a Princess account you can Sign Up using the app. Thirdly, you can choose the Quick Access option and access the cruise with your booking number. All three options will be presented when you first open the app on your phone.

MedallionClass for PC / Mac / Windows 7.8.10 - Free Download - Napkforpc.com

Next, you will follow the steps below to check in for the cruise. These steps are found in the OceanReady->Travel Checklist section of your cruise.

Pre Cruise Internet Purchase - Princess Cruises - Cruise Critic Community

OceanReady –> Tap “ Travel Checklist ”  —-> Tap “ Personal Information & Documents “ ——> “ Personal Information “: please complete all sections with an asterisk * ——> “ Passage Contract & COVID-19 Risk Notification of Acceptance “: check both boxes and tap “Accept” ——> “ Travel Documents “: Tap “Add Required Documents for Travel” and then tap “Passport.” You can either take a photo of your passport or manually enter your passport information by typing it in ——> “ Security Photo “: this photo will be referenced by staff when you board. You can upload an existing photo from your gallery or take one with your phone’s camera ——> “ Profile Photo “: this photo is for social purposes–it will display in your app and this photo is what your friends will see when they use the app to find you ——> “ MedallionPay – Add Payment”: enter a payment method to have on file ——> “ Emergency Contact ” fill this in ——> “ Emergency Return Airport ” fill this in ——> “ Travel Information ” don’t worry about this ——> “ Celebrating a Milestone? ” not required but you may fill it in if you are celebrating a special occasion ——> “ Health Status “ ——–> Health Documentation : check Yes that you are fully vaccinated ——–> Health Assessment *this will need to be completed when we are <24 hrs out from sailing ——> “ Choose your Medallion Wearable ” fill this out and Princess will mail your complimentary medallion & lanyard to your home as we near sailing. If this is not completed at least 12 days before sailing, you can still pick up your medallion when boarding. You can also choose to customize your medallion & accessories (for an added cost) or purchase accessories onboard.

Once you have completed all of the above, your arrival status should change from “Blue Lane” to “Green Lane” which means expedited boarding. Under “Travel Checklist” in the “OceanReady Profile” section of the app, you will now have completed the first 3/5 sections: Personal Information & Documents, Choose your Medallion wearable, and MedallionPay. Don’t worry about #4 “Arrival & Departure Groups” as we will manage that. #5 “Health Status” will need to be completed within 24 hrs of embarkation so we will do that later. You should now be checked in! That is all you need to do with the app for now. However, for those who are interested, there’s a lot more you can do with the app. Please see below for a full summary of the app’s uses.

In the larger issue, received a call two days ago from Princess saying we would not be allowed to board unless we got to Green on OceanReady. I called Princess and got a call back from Medallion. The tech confirmed that for one reason or another, many people aren't completing pre-boarding.  He said not to worry about it and bring hard copies and QR codes to the pier and check in as it used to be done. (My app issues didn't get fixed.) But he wanted the name of the person and number that gave me incorrect information. The elephant in the room is that the Medallion app is utter garbage, but the brainchild of the current president of Princess. Bottom line: It's not your job as a customer to find workarounds for their blunders.

This whole app check-in thing is kinda making me crazy!  Has anyone actually ever been denied boarding because they weren't fully checked in?  And what QR codes is one to bring??  Thx for any help...

Princess knows people are having trouble, so as long as other papers are in order, it's OK.  The QR codes are for our vaccines, which ours are hard copies, Covid test results, (for Californians) and Safe Travels Hawaii, also hard copies. What a palaver!

Since writing last, Princess has started availability for a web based Medallion. I hope this will benefit those of you cruising later. To find the web based Medallion, I had to log in and go to Booked Guests. Then a link below the icons for the app.

from what I am told, the QR code is also the same as your digital boarding pass, which on the Princess website says we need for boarding.

Yes, I see a QR code for the blue lane on the Medallion app. Which may not be accessible at the pier. I'm bringing a hard copy of my Passage Contract to show our cruise is paid in full.

because I can't get my security photo to upload, I can't get my QR code on the blue lane.  Hopefully i get it fixed before we leave in May.  I agree...always a hard copy along is a good rule of thumb.

If you are not able to upload a security photo from your smartphone, you can do it from their website:  Log In or Create an Account - My Princess - Princess Cruises

However, after the successful upload of my security photo, the Medallion app lost my booking info and I had to re-enter my booking number for the info to reappear.

Good luck and happy cruising to all!

Like many, I had trouble getting the security photo to work.  Finally just took a picture of my passport and that worked. Except that I still couldn't choose a lane; it always said they were all full.  Meanwhile, my sister, in another state, trying at approximately the same time, had no trouble getting a lane.

But, at port they took another security photo.  Also, as far as I could tell it made absolutely no difference which boarding lane you were in pre-cruise.  We never saw any times or lines or any notice of green, blue, etc. lanes.  We are Platinum, so supposedly had a 'faster' lane, but that seemed to make no difference either.

Also, my sister did not order her Medallion and was given one at check-in.  Took about 2 minutes.

Of course this was on the Discovery inaugural, which had a very messed up boarding process, due to having to shuttle everyone from the check-in area to the actual ship.

I could not get my security or profile picture to load no matter what I did. Eventually I logged on to the online version of the medallion app and it worked first time. (I took the picture on my mobile and emailed it to myself so I coulsd save it on my main computer.)

On 2/2/2022 at 9:51 AM, Alanr204 said: It took numerous tries for me to upload my passport and I still can’t upload our profile pictures, I get a similar error message as you. Seems the Medallion app needs a lot of work. It’s not a good experience at all.

Just add the passport information by keying it in.

Thank you!  By renaming and saving as a "profile picture" and by uploading from the website instead of the app, it finally worked for me (unlike the 5 emails to the "help" team).

I was having this same problem, and I finally found the fix for mine. It seems that my photo file was too large. Once I resized it down below about 500k, it worked fine in the app.

My guess is that the Medallion server is set to (probably a default) of 500k limit for uploaded files, which would mean it just errors for anything larger than that.

mlgb

There seem to be multiple fixes depending on what phone and operating sytem you have. As a few others have said, don't stress too much, you are not alone.

Another thing to be aware of, is that your app may not work on board for ordering food delivered.  One of the issues is with an older phone with less than 4MB of RAM.  The help desk installed a "lighter" version which still didn't really work for me. Super annoying.

Good news for everyone struggling with the Medallion App. You can now update your info on the Princess.com web page. Go to your trip summary and you will see the following option, "Try our web version". I did everything in my browser. Saved my photo to my drive and uploaded it into the web page.

I did struggle to sign on using my login and password but there is an option in the bottom to sign in with name, birthdate and cruise number. That got me in immediately.

Medallion APP.jpg

  • 8 months later...

I tried everything to get my security photo to be accepted: resets, reinstalls, reboots, different lighting, etc. There was never an error message but the photo wouldn't save. Finally, I resized the photo smaller and smaller and smaller until suddenly it worked! It is now 60.4 kB. Anything bigger didn't work. Now I'm going in the Green Lane, whatever that is. YMMV.

I hope they improve the app soon. It is very badly coded.

Security Photo and Profile Pic Sideways

By CruiseMob , December 26, 2023 in Princess Cruises

Cool Cruiser

I uploaded a picture for my security photo and profile pic for the app. Everything looks fine when I select the pic, then I press Save and it turns the picture on it's side. Is this normal?

No, it’s not normal but if you can’t fix it, they will take a new photo upon boarding the ship.  It doesn’t really hold things up.

Yeah! I fixed it! It didn't like the size, so I made the image smaller and then it worked.

Lucky you, I've been trying to upload a photo for over a month, app keeps failing, same with the web site.  😒

Oh, I'm sorry. It's so frustrating! It was even more annoying that it gave me no info on recommend size or format. I wasn't using there in app camera but selecting a pic I had, so information in their tips would have been helpful. I just started playing with the image and re-uploading to test. Finally hit upon it. Maybe you could try a different file type or resize smaller before uploading.

It sure is and already working better than the last one. Except for telling me I have to use a cc for the shoreside  account. Keeps telling me it's required,  I emailed the app company and told them they need to fix it. I'm not checking the box giving the company permission to keep my cc.

I don't blame you one bit!  I *never* did that with the old app...

I'm glad you were able to fix it.  Otherwise, you would be required to lie down every time you wanted to get off/on the ship, so you would be sideways to match the security photo.

All 16 Princess Cruises Ships, From Newest to Oldest

Here’s everything you need to know about the Princess Cruises fleet.

princess cruise profile picture

Courtesy of Princess Cruises

Sailors of all ages love Princess Cruises for its quality, service, value, and serene style of cruising.  What’s more, the 2023 T+L World’s Best Award-winning mega-ship line   — which is also a WBA Hall of Fame Honoree — tends to steer clear of splashy entertainment (for example, you won’t find go-karts, water slides, or ziplines on board most ships) in favor of more refined activities. Discovery at SEA programming is a standout offering: In partnership with Discovery and Animal Planet, guests can partake in nature-centric onboard activities and shore excursions. Most Princess ships boast a majestic atrium modeled after an Italian piazza, and it’s here where you’ll find some of the best drinking, dining, and shopping venues on board.

According to travel advisor and cruise specialist Jennaca Boose of Marvelous Mouse Travels , Princess’ fleet of 15 ships — 16 if you count the upcoming Sun Princess , which will make its long-anticipated debut this year — is family-friendly, and each vessel is “equipped to entertain all ages;” however, some cater towards specific age demographics better than others. For example, she says, travelers sailing with younger children will especially love Royal Princess and Regal Princess , which “have even more to offer” beyond the kids club, such as “outdoor play areas with jungle gyms and a separate teen space with a hot tub.” Meanwhile, says Boose, cruisers craving an intimate onboard experience may consider sailing aboard Coral Princess or Island Princess , which are two of the line’s smaller ships.

Finally, it’s also worth noting that the line offers dozens, if not hundreds, of itineraries across the globe, including Alaska, Mexico, Japan, the Mediterranean, and many more. “Whether you’re looking for a quick getaway or an immersive cultural itinerary,” says Boose, “Princess has a ship for you.” Without further ado, keep scrolling for a breakdown of each ship in the Princess Cruises fleet to help you narrow down which vessels would be best for you.

Sun Princess

Inaugural Year: 2024

Ship Class: Sphere

Ship Capacity: 4,300 guests

The inaugural ship in Princess' new Sphere class, Sun Princess is the line's largest — and flashiest — vessel to date. Set to sail the Mediterranean and Caribbean, this 20-deck mega-ship is sure to make waves following its early 2024 debut. The Park19 family zone will offer nine fun-filled activities, including the Sea Breeze (the first Rollglider at sea), The Lookout (an open-air observation deck), and Coastal Climb (a climbing structure for adventure enthusiasts of all ages). There’s also a two-deck arena, the multi-level Dome entertainment space, and the brand-new Spellbound, a Victorian-themed bar where guests can watch magicians while sipping theatrical cocktails.

Discovery Princess

Inaugural Year: 2022

Ship Class: Royal

Ship Capacity: 3,660 guests

For an elegant onboard experience complete with world-class specialty dining that’ll entice any gourmand, spectacular live entertainment in the lavish Princess Theater, and the largest balconies at sea (spanning over 1,000 square feet) found in one of the ship’s splurge-worthy Sky Suites, look no further than Princess’ final Royal-class ship. Spend sea days soaking up the sun — and the ocean views — by the infinity Wake View Pool.

Enchanted Princess

Inaugural Year: 2021

The elegant Enchanted Princess is a haven for relaxation-seekers with four sparkling pools (including the infinity-edge Wake View Pool), 10 hot tubs, and a serene spa offering Asian-inspired treatments. For the ultimate splurge, reserve one of the sprawling Sky Suites, best known for their expansive balconies offering 270-degree sea views. Other honorable mentions include the Sanctuary, Discovery at SEA, movie screenings under the stars, and the SeaWalk, a 60-foot-long glass-enclosed hallway with floor-to-ceiling ocean vistas.

Sky Princess

Inaugural Year: 2019

The snazzy Sky Princess made its grand debut in 2019; fast-forward five years later, and the ship has retained its allure. The three-story atrium is the beating heart of the ship, dotted with shops, bars, and restaurants galore. Check out Chef’s Table Lumiere, or try your luck at the casino for the ultimate splurge. Finally, for the best ocean views, book one of the Sky Suites.

Majestic Princess

Taylor McIntyre/Travel + Leisure

Inaugural Year: 2017

Ship Capacity: 3,560 guests

This Royal-class ship was initially designed for cruises from Shanghai, which means passengers can expect Chinese-inspired decor along with the fantastic specialty restaurant, Harmony, which features mouthwatering Asian menu items like wok-fried lobster, spring rolls, and more. Also unique to Majestic Princess is the adults-only Hollywood Pool Club, a perfect spot for grown-ups looking to soak in style. Meanwhile, don’t miss the dazzling casino and incredible SeaWalk, where panoramic ocean views await.

Regal Princess

Inaugural Year: 2014

This 2014 mega-ship definitely delivers in terms of onboard attractions. A few fan favorites include movies under the stars (best enjoyed with popcorn and candy in hand, of course), original productions, an outdoor musical fountain show, and Princess Live!, where passengers will find interactive culinary shows along with late-night comedy and game shows that can be viewed in-person or from the comfort of one’s stateroom. Last but not least, don’t forget to snap a selfie on the SeaWalk.

Royal Princess

Inaugural Year: 2013

Prepare to receive the royal treatment (pun intended) aboard the 3,560-passenger Royal Princess . The ship’s dazzling common spaces, including the grand atrium and the SeaWalk, are sure to impress design lovers, while the drinking and dining options, including the extravagant Chef’s Table Lumiere — available only on Royal-class ships — will delight culinary connoisseurs of all ages.

Ruby Princess

Inaugural Year: 2008

Ship Class: Crown

Ship Capacity: 3,080 guests

Entertainment options abound on the 19-deck Ruby Princess , from movies under the stars and basketball to golfing and (hopefully) winning big at the casino. While party-going cruisers can dance ‘til the wee hours of the night at Skywalkers, serenity-seeking travelers may choose to hit the sack early before waking up to enjoy the spa or The Sanctuary.

Emerald Princess

Inaugural Year: 2007

Last refurbished in 2019, Emerald Princess features something for families of all ages, including  reimagined Camp Discovery youth and teen centers and the serene Sanctuary, a kid-free slice of paradise in the middle of the sea. Passengers can also perfect their swing at the putting course, enjoy poolside movie screenings, unwind at one of several swanky bars and lounges, including the Speakeasy Cigar Lounge, hit the spa, or dance the night away at the onboard club. In summary, it’s pretty much impossible to be bored on this ship.

Crown Princess

Inaugural Year: 2006

Despite its 3,000-plus passenger capacity , Crown Princess never feels super crowded thanks to abundant onboard amenities and activities. Highlights include three main dining rooms, a three-story atrium, and, of course, ample activities and programming, which run the gamut from basketball courts and pajama movie nights for kids to karaoke and an onboard nightclub.

Diamond Princess

Inaugural Year: 2004

Ship Class: Grand

Ship Capacity: 2,670 guests

Best known for its Asia itineraries, Diamond Princess is sure to wow cruisers of all ages with its unique onboard features. Wellness-seekers need not miss the Izumi Japanese Bath, where guests can enjoy a traditional Japanese bathing experience coupled with breathtaking ocean views. There’s also the adults-only Sanctuary sun deck, Broadway-caliber entertainment, ample restaurants (including five main dining rooms), a nightclub, and so much more.

Caribbean Princess

Ship Capacity: 3,140 guests

This massive 18-deck ship was last refurbished in 2019 to bring it up to par with the line’s latest vessels. The European-inspired piazza , boasting street performers, eclectic boutiques, restaurants and bars, and a striking spiral staircase, is the beating heart of the ship. Plus, as part of the line’s partnership with Discovery, guests can enjoy nature-filled activities and lectures.

Sapphire Princess

Ship Capacity: 2,670 guests

Those craving a traditional cruising experience need not look further than the 20-year-old Sapphire Princess . With an onboard nightclub, five main dining rooms (plus many other bars and lounges, including a cigar lounge), this 2,670-passenger ship is among the line’s buzziest. After dancing the night away, adults can spend the day relaxing at The Sanctuary, while families will surely appreciate the dedicated spaces for kids, tweens, and teens.

Island Princess

Inaugural Year: 2003

Ship Class: Coral

Ship Capacity: 2,200 guests

Island Princess was purposefully built to sail through the Panama Canal. This 2,200-guest, 20-plus-year-old ship offers a more refined onboard experience compared to the line’s newer, flashier vessels. Sea days are well spent at the spa, in swimming pools, or sipping cocktails in the massive atriums; come nighttime, watch movies under the stars (a Princess staple) or catch live musical performances before hitting the sack — and getting ready to do it all again the following day.

Coral Princess

Ship Capacity: 2,000 guests

Coral Princess is Princess’ smallest ship; however, there is still plenty to see, do, and experience on board. Guests can make themselves right at home in the piazza-style grand atrium, where prime people-watching awaits. For some R&R, grown-ups can head to the tranquil, adults-only Sanctuary while the kids are at play at the children’s centers.

Grand Princess

Inaugural Year: 1998

Ship Capacity: 2,600 guests

Princess’ oldest ship underwent a major renovation back in 2019, adding fan-favorite restaurants like Alfredo's Pizzeria, Salty Dog Grill, and Coffee & Cones. Catch a Broadway-style show, relax at The Sanctuary, or partake in nature-centric activities as part of the line’s Discovery at SEA programming.

Sail Away on a Regal Princess Cruise Ship

princess cruise profile picture

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises launched the Regal Princess in May 2014 in Venice and the new ship spent her first summer in Europe, crossing the Atlantic for the first time in late October. Those who have sailed on the Regal Princess's sister ship, the Royal Princess, will be delighted to know that this ship looks very much the same, with just a few modifications.

The popular SeaWalk and SeaView bar are continued on the Regal Princess, and Princess has added a poolside fountain show on the Lido Deck. The company has partnered with Discovery Communications to add some exciting new entertainment and program options for kids of all ages. Another new partnership is bound to be popular—one with well-known chocolatier Norman Love. These "Chocolate Journeys" include new chocolate desserts, chocolate drinks, and even a wine and chocolate pairing/tasting event.

Cabins and Suites

The Regal Princess has 1,780 guest cabins and suites, over 81 percent of which have a private balcony and only 342 are interior cabins. The cabins are relaxing and well-designed.

All the cabins and suites on the Regal Princess have features that include a private bath with either a shower or a tub and shower, twin or queen-sized beds, and an expansive list of amenities. You will also enjoy daily housekeeping service and nighttime turn-down service with pillow chocolates.

Click on the links below to read more about the five basic types of cabins and suites on the Regal Princess. Note that 36 cabins—29 with balconies and 7 interior—are wheelchair accessible, and 50 of the cabins are adjoining.

Dining and Cuisine

Princess Cruise ships are well-known for their food, and the Regal Princess continues this reputation. The number of venues, along with their diversity and food quality, is bound to send most cruisers back to their diets when they return home.

Past Princess cruisers can find old favorites like the Crown Grill and Sabatini's, along with three traditional dining rooms and the Horizon Court and Bistro.

Many of the smaller casual dining venues are near the Piazza, like Alfredo's pizzeria, Gelato, Ocean Terrace seafood bar, and the popular International Cafe.

Those wishing a special dining experience can visit one of the specialty restaurants on the Regal Princess or try one of the amazing dining experiences like the Chef's Table Lumiere or the Wine Maker's Dinner. The ship has over 18,000 bottles of wine and champagne in its wine cellar, so there's bound to be one of your favorites onboard.

Interior Common Areas

The most spectacular interior common area on the Regal Princess is the 3-deck Piazza and atrium. This area serves as the hub of the ship, and guests can always find some type of entertainment or dining/drinking option in the Piazza.

Guests need to be sure to explore the Regal Princess thoroughly to see some of the 4,000 pieces of art on the 1,083-foot long ship—That's longer than the Eiffel Tower. They can either walk off some of those calories they've enjoyed during the cruise, or visit the Regal Princess fitness center for a workout.

The restful Lotus Spa is found right off the atrium area. It features all of the treatments you would expect from a full-service spa, plus has some fascinating experiences like a Chocolate Indulgence Body Treatment that is part of Princess' new "Chocolate Journeys" or a Thai Coconut Poultice Massage.

Other indoor areas, like the Princess Live! television studio, have interesting programs throughout the day.

Outdoor Decks

The first Regal Princess outdoor deck feature most cruise travelers want to see is the SeaWalk. This 60-foot long passageway has a glass floor over an inch thick that provides spectacular (or scary) views of the sea below.

One new outdoor feature on the Regal Princess not included on her older sister ship the Royal Princess is the small Terrace Pool, which has nice views of the wake from its aft location. The Fountain and Plunge Pools on the Lido Deck are split by a wooden island stage that is used as part of the nightly musical fountain show.

In addition to the indoor fitness center, exercise enthusiasts can enjoy the Sports Deck, with its walking/jogging track, circuit training equipment, and basketball court. One deck up is the miniature golf course.

If you are not into all that activity, the Regal Princess has hundreds of comfortable deck chairs for those who like to sit and read, drink, or nap in the sun or the shade.

Bars and Lounges

Socializing is a big part of any cruise experience for many travelers, and the Regal Princess has several bars and lounges that are perfect for either sharing a drink with new friends while listening to music or sharing a drink with that special person in a romantic corner.

The Wheelhouse Bar next to the Crown Grill and Vines Wine Bar next to Sabatini's are popular for a before or after dinner drink. For those who like to people watch, Bellini's has terrific views of the Piazza from its "floating" location.

Being outdoors is important to many cruise travelers, and the Outrigger Bar, which is aft on deck 16 behind the Horizon Court, offers great views with its comfortable seating.

Regal Princess Itineraries

The Regal Princess spent her inaugural summer in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic from Venice to her wintertime homeport of Ft. Lauderdale. The new Princess ship sails 7-day cruises from Ft. Lauderdale to the eastern Caribbean, with stopovers in Princess Cays, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.

From May through August, the Regal Princess sails a Baltic and northern European itinerary . This marvelous itinerary allows guests to sail round-trip from one of three ports: Copenhagen, Berlin/Warnemunde, or St. Petersburg; and also includes ports of call in: Oslo, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsinki, and Tallinn. Although most people board in Copenhagen, many who wanted to see Berlin spent a few days there before taking the train to Warnemunde. Mostly Russian travelers board in St. Petersburg since others must have a Russian Visa to visit when they are not staying on a cruise ship and taking official tours (either with the ship or a licensed guide).

Wherever the Regal Princess sails, travelers will get good value for their vacation dollar, plus bring home priceless memories of this lovely ship and her fascinating ports of call.

Posted April 21, 2022. The profile picture can be anything you like. Mine happens to be a drawing of bears in white tie. It is of utterly no consequence.
