Dillon Moore Owner
Moving to Colorado in 2011, Dillon started riding dirt bikes on the many trails of the Front Range and adventure riding was a natural transition. Dillon has worked many years in the heavy equipment rental industry, as well as ran his own side business of buying, repairing and selling dirt bikes. Colorado Motorcycle Adventure combines his love of motorcycles and adventure. Dillon is excited to grow and continue CMA’s philosophy of excellent customer service, superior equipment and experience offerings.
Christine Kathryn Director of Operations
Christine Kathryn is someone who doesn’t care for the term “midlife crisis.” She believes in midlife expansion, which is exactly how she’s approaching this season of her life. After enjoying a successful career in HR and corporate training, she settled in to raise three beautiful-hearted kids. With a deep love for nature and a belief in its therapeutic benefits, Christine learned that adventure riding was a thing and dove in head first - backcountry exploration and camping without all the pesky steps of backpacking?! Sign me up! Christine feels fortunate to have worked and volunteered in a wide variety of industries throughout the years before joining the CMA team. Supporting others in the pursuit of their dreams is the thread that runs through all of her work. While she helps others embark on their adventures through CMA, Christine looks forward to fulfilling her own dreams of exploring on two-wheels across the country and beyond with like-minded souls.
Ash Brooks Shop Manager & Tour Guide
After 25 plus years as a corporate technology exec, Ash left it all behind to pursue his passion for motorcycling. He has been riding both on and off road for over 40 years and was a longtime, satisfied customer of CMA. He joined the team to maintain our bike fleet and lead tours for us and enjoys sharing adventurous experiences from the desert to mountainous backcountry and everything in between with other folks.
Kevin Moore Advisor
Kevin is honored to be part of the ownership team of CMA. An avid skier, mountain biker and outdoor enthusiast, he is super excited to learn the new skill set of adventure riding. Kevin has extensive experience in the business world, but no matter what business or industry, the route to success has been achieved through a lot of common sense with a keen focus on the customer experience. He looks forward to new friendships with customers and industry partners as CMA continues to be a leader in the adventure motorcycling rental and tour business. Kevin resides in Boulder, Colorado.
Scott Lee Advisor
From the age of seven years old Scott has been riding motorcycles. It all started with a 1972 Honda Mini-Trail 50 and has grown to a garage full of bikes. CMA grew out of a life-long love of all things motorcycles. From single-track dirt bike riding, to multi-week road trips with his family, Scott is a motorcycle man who loves adventure. Scott started CMA with the idea of offering superior motorcycles, unparalleled customer service, and most importantly, the opportunity for adventure to those who want to see and experience this country in a way that only motorcycles can provide.
Rob Watt Advisor
No stranger to motorcycle tours and what makes a good route, Rob was the route developer for the Backcountry Discovery Routes from 2010-2020. He also was one of the first American’s to receive the BMW International Tour Guide certification along with his good friend Scott Lee. Rob started riding motorcycles like a lot of guys his age on the Honda 50 and 70’s in his neighborhood, when it was still legal to ride anywhere you wanted and be a kid. When his kids were finally the age to ride, he got back into motorcycles and hasn’t looked back since. Rob was the head of marketing for their family business, Colorado’s largest family owned lumber and hardware stores, which they sold in 2000. After selling the company, Rob started a film and HD video business, specializing in high end TV commercial, sales videos and documentaries. This came in handy once he started working with the team at the BDR. Today, Rob is enjoying semi-retirement on his motorcycle and behind his still camera, taking photos for the motorcycle industry and western lifestyle.
Patrick O’Kelly Advisor
Patrick has been an avid rider for over 40 years. He currently rides a BMW R1250 RT and, on nice days, pulls out his vintage 1975 R90S to ride the local twisties near Boulder. After a long career as a CPA, Patrick sold his firm in 2019 and “retired” in December 2022. By “retired” that means he is continuing to offer his services as a financial consultant, working part-time for a former client who is in the wine industry in Sonoma and spending a lot more time riding. Riding includes touring on the RT, cycling and mountain bike riding and, most recently, discovering the thrills of Adventure Riding. Patrick spent several days in 2023 with the CMA crew in Moab and completely fell for the absolute fun and beauty of backroad adventure riding. There’s likely a KTM in his future…. Patrick is honored to be part of the CMA team and is looking forward to new rides, meeting new folks and assisting where he can.
Sam Dantzler Advisor
Sam Dantzler has been riding motorcycles since the late 80’s. Having fallen in love with the sport (thank you Top Gun and Kawasaki), he rarely has fewer than 4 machines in his garage at any one time. Sam is the founder and President and of Garage Composites (https://garagecomposites.com), a business tracking and performance company for the industries of Powersports and Marine specifically. You gotta get lost to get found!
Chris Maughan Advisor
Chris is currently the Boulder County Northwest Metro Market President for Alpine Bank. Upon graduating college in 2003, Chris moved to Telluride, CO and began a 20 year love relationship with the Rocky Mountains. He currently rides a BMW F850 GS and is often found touring the mountain passes of Colorado and beyond. Chris is honored to be part of the CMA advisory board and to assist with financial oversight and relationship building. He loves the simplicity of being on a multi-day motorcycle tour and believes there is no better way to build friendships and create lasting memories. After riding all over the Southwestern US Chris often returns to the San Juan mountains to discover the best tours are the ones done right in our backyard!
Frank DeVincent Advisor
Frank is excited to be on the advisory board to CMA. Having owned over 30 motorcycles, starting with a Minibike, then racing motocross for many years, he now does backcountry rides and road rides on his BMW 1250 GS. Frank believes that riding motorcycles is a great way to see the country and to escape the stress of being a Trial Lawyer.

OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLE & DIRT BIKE TOURS
There is perhaps no better way to see the great outdoors than on a dirt bike. The very agile nature of these incredible machines enable riders to go places that other vehicles simply can’t make because of the terrain.
Most dirt bike tours take place in the Western United States because of the incredible riding conditions, amazing scenery, and ample government land. In order to get the most out of off-road motorcycle tours, there needs to be enough land for riders to connect trails without having to ride on paved highways. This isn’t always easy which is why dual-sport motorcycles have become so popular. Dual-sport motorcycles are basically street-legal dirt bikes that are a little heavier and have items like turn indicators, mirrors, speedometer and a license plate.

This would limit our activities and decrease the overall fun factor.”

How SAFE is Baja California, Mexico
Your safety is our priority, and we want you to embark on your Baja Adventure Motorcycle Tour with complete peace of mind. Baja California, Mexico, is as safe as San Diego and even safer than many U.S. cities. For over 15 years, we've been exploring these beautiful landscapes, and our 2000+ satisfied customers have returned without any safety concerns. Most travel advisories are for regions further east near Mexicali, which are entirely distinct from the serene beauty of Baja California. We're here to ensure your journey is not only amazing but worry-free, just like it has been for countless adventure seekers who have come before you.
BYOB and Self-Guided Options
If you want to explore Baja on your bike - you can! Or if you want to explore Baja on your own time on your bike or by renting from our fleet we can set you up with the route and get all your trip essentials in order. It will make your trip planning that much easier.
If you plan to BYOB make sure you get that Mexican insurance and organize bike transport if you're not riding it round trip. We do not have a transportation source.
If you plan to self-guide by yourself or with a group we do have an option for truck support, just contact us for details. It's a good idea to bring spare parts for your bike as our supplies are for our fleet.
Day 1: San Diego, California
The itinerary for "Baja on UP" is Reversed.

What to Expect:
Midday Arrival: Arrive and settle into your accommodations, taking in the pleasant climate and anticipation of the adventures ahead.
Trip Briefing: Meet our experienced guides, who will be your companions throughout this journey. They'll provide you with essential information to ensure a seamless experience.
Meet & Greet Dinner: This isn't just a dinner; it's the start of lifelong friendships. Get to know your fellow adventurers, who, after this epic ride, may well become your trusted motorcycle travel buddies.
Looking Ahead:
Get a good night's rest because tomorrow you'll rise early to load your luggage into our support vehicle, and then we're off to cross the "frontera" (border) into Baja California, Mexico. Your thrilling adventure is about to kick into high gear!
Day 2: San Diego to Ensenada, Mexico- 250Km
In the words of Officer Antonio, " Welcome to Mexico. " As originally noted in Eric's 2008 blog post , these simple words marked the beginning of a journey filled with open arms, friendly faces, and breathtaking scenery.
While today's route, as the crow flies, is not exceptionally long, we'll add some extra riding due to the border crossing into beautiful Mexico. Our adventure commences, leading us through Tijuana or Tecate, and into the picturesque northern Baja wine country before arriving in Ensenada.
What Awaits You:
- Flavorful Feasts: Brace yourself for the best fresh fish tacos, ceviche, tequila, and ice-cold cervezas you've ever had. The tantalizing flavors are so close you can practically taste them in the ocean breeze as we journey down the stunning Pacific Coast.
Day 3: Ensenada to San Quintin- 230km
As we journey southward, we'll uncover opportunities to veer off the well-ridden path along the Pacific Coast, leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the border towns. Our route will lead us into the enchanting, lesser-explored realm of the Baja Peninsula.
Prepare to be transported into a surreal landscape as we enter the otherworldly Valle de los Cirios, a place reminiscent of a Dr. Seuss book come to life. Here, you'll encounter colossal cacti and volcanic boulder formations that resemble whimsical, fictional characters, igniting your imagination.
Then to San Quintín, a coastal gem nestled between the Pacific Ocean and fertile agricultural valleys. Here, you'll find a perfect blend of natural beauty and local charm. As evening falls, take a stroll to the nearby beach and immerse yourself in the tranquil sounds of the ocean waves. If the skies are clear, prepare to be mesmerized by a stunning sunset over the Pacific, followed by a night sky dotted with countless stars. San Quintín offers a serene and picturesque retreat, making it an ideal stop on our journey.
Day 4: San Quintin to Guerrero Negro - 450km
Fear not, as we bid farewell to San Quintín, the captivating array of Cirio, Cardon, Cholla, Pitaya, Cochal, and Senita Cacti continues to grace our journey. We'll traverse the peninsula on our way to the next destination, a hidden gem that only a fortunate few have the privilege of discovering. Guerrero Negro awaits, a unique town nestled along the Pacific coast, known for its rich natural wonders. Here, you'll find yourself in the heart of one of the world's largest salt flats and a prime location for unforgettable whale-watching experiences.
The absence of modern distractions like bustling city life is more than compensated by the serene landscapes and abundant wildlife. With its vast salt flats, tranquil lagoons, and star-studded night skies, Guerrero Negro provides the perfect haven for a memorable and peaceful retreat.
Day 5 - Guerrero Negro to San Ignacio-340Km
For those of you on our Baja on Down RIDE, we'll start the day with an unforgettable whale-watching tour.
For those of you on our Baja on UP RIDE, we'll jump on the unforgettable afternoon whale--watching tour after our RIDE from San Ignacio.
We'll set out into the tranquil waters and lagoons of Guerrero Negro, where you'll have the rare opportunity to witness majestic gray whales up close in their natural habitat. This awe-inspiring experience is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Our journey continues through the El Vizcaíno Biosphere Reserve , Mexico's largest wildlife refuge. Here, you may have the chance to spot an array of creatures, from rodents and hares to the elusive California Pronghorn and Desert Bighorn Sheep.
This leg of the adventure offers a mix of the finest dirt roads suited for big adventure bikes and some well-paved stretches.
Our final destination is the charming oasis town of San Ignacio, where you can look forward to a delightful evening with delectable cuisine and refreshing drinks.
Day 6: San Ignacio to Loreto-274Km
As we look forward to a day of coastal riding, you'll find yourself winding along pristine white sand beaches, with the cerulean waters of the Sea of Cortez embracing each twist and turn. Today promises a riding experience like no other.
Our journey takes us through the town of Heroica Mulegé, a place rich in history and offering great lunch spots. Just beyond, prepare to be awestruck as you ride along the Bay of Conception , a place of beauty that defies adequate description – the kind of beauty only a true poet could capture in words, and we'll refrain from attempting it here.
Today's destination is Loreto, a town nestled within one of the nation's few National Marine Parks. Tomorrow, you'll have a well-deserved rest day, offering you the freedom to relax on the beach, try your hand at fishing, enjoy a round of golf, or set out for another exhilarating ride. The choice is entirely yours.
Day 7: Loreto to La Paz-374Km
Get ready for more Baja fun as we set out on a day filled with open desert routes and charming, pint-sized villages. The morning ride brings you pristine paved twisties, leading to a significant highlight: the San Javier Mission, a historic gem nestled amidst the rugged terrain.
From there, we venture onward to an exhilarating, long stretch of dirt roads and light sand, heading further south. Rest assured, there's a fully-paved alternative for those who prefer it. A few hours later, you'll find yourself once more beside the glistening blue waters, as we arrive in the lively coastal city of La Paz. Here, you'll have a wealth of picturesque settings and fantastic dining options to choose from as you explore the town.
Day 8: La Paz to San Jose del Cabo-228Km
Our journey takes us south from La Paz, where a brief visit to the mining history museum at El Triunfo offers insights into the region's rich heritage. You'll then find yourself immersed in more exhilarating, twisty roads and breathtaking coastal vistas.
As you make your way down to Los Barriles, another wonderful lunch spot awaits. Here, riders have the option to complete the journey on well-paved roads, or for those seeking an extra dose of adventure, there's the opportunity for some playful riding through not-too-deep sand along the Cabo Pulmo area.
The route leading to San Jose del Cabo is adorned with opulent mansions and beach resorts, teeming with surfers and beach enthusiasts. Finally, we arrive in San Jose del Cabo, another vibrant town that serves as the perfect destination to conclude our exhilarating motorcycle trip.
Day 9: Departures or An Extended Vacation

Motorcycling in Patagonia is adventure in its purest form: forget busy highways with convenient fuel stations and roadside cafes, bustling cities and fast…
What is the riding like on a motorcycle tour of Patagonia?
Riding motorcycles in Patagonia is much more like an expedition rather than a leisurely tour. Whether you’re on a dirt bike or a mid to large capacity adventure motorcycle, expect lots of gravel roads, mountain twisties and graded dirt, especially in the South. ‘Ruta 40’ on the Argentinean side is mostly paved with a short gravel section here and there, but the Carretera Austral and most of the routes on the island of Tierra del Fuego are dirt roads meandering across the land.
When embarking on a motorcycle trip to Patagonia, beware of the notorious gale-force winds in Southern Patagonia: most motorcyclists who have ridden to Ushuaia and back will tell you to expect the seemingly never-ending winds forcing you to ride at an angle bracing against the sheer force of the gusts. Even in the summertime, Patagonia sees chillier temperatures, so layer up before you go and expect cooler weather – after all, you’re now closer to the Antarctic than the equator!
Despite some challenging roads and weather conditions, the riding in Patagonia is out of this world. The Chilean side boasts landscapes worthy of a Lord of the Rings set with the snow-capped peaks of the Andes looming over the bright blue lakes, emerald green foothills and fjord-like bays resembling the Norwegian coastline. On the Argentinean side, the Patagonian pampa stretches out as far as the eye can see, contrasting wildly with the cool shades of blue of the majestic Perito Moreno glacier near El Calafate. Tierra del Fuego, the Land of Fire, is an island of incredible wildlife, stunning mountain passes, and the views of the Drake Passage – the World’s most volatile sea route – separating it from the Antarctic continent.
Our Patagonia motorcycle tours are designed to showcase it all: the remote roads and dirt trails leading past surreal landscapes, the local ways of life, the delicious cuisine, and the natural wonders that are Torres del Paine National Park and the Perito Moreno glacier. You’ll see the Patagonian wilderness up close and personal, stay in charming colonial towns and frontier settlements still retaining the spirit of the gauchos, and visit Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.
When is the best time of year for a motorcycle tour of Patagonia?
Patagonia lies in the Southern Hemisphere, which means the seasons here are reversed (depending on where you’re from, of course!). Motorcycle travellers who forget this little fact pay dearly – Patagonian winters are harsh and the region receives heavy snowfall, so aim to ride here between early December and late February for the best weather conditions. Keep in mind that Patagonia is vast and the distances here are long, so plan at least several weeks to see it all.
5 reasons to ride in Patagonia
1. jaw-dropping scenery.
Riding motorcycles in Patagonia is like traveling some forgotten planet with incredible scenery and awe-inspiring views around every corner. Active volcanoes, Andean passes, glaciers, national parks brimming with wildlife, the vast open spaces of the Southern pampas, the eerie landscapes of Tierra del Fuego and the marble caves of Chile Chico will blow your mind as you ride across this magnificent land of horsemen and mountains.
2. Sense of Adventure
A motorcycle adventure is all about the unbridled freedom to ride, explore, spend evenings under the starry skies listening to the crackle of a bonfire and swapping stories with your riding buddies. And in Patagonia, the freedom is truly unlimited: forget busy roads, traffic and restrictions, leave the stress of a fast-paced life behind and immerse yourself in a culture and land that has no boundaries and no road signs for thousands of miles. Our motorcycle tours in Patagonia are aimed at riders longing to experience the thrill, the scenery and the adventure to the fullest.
3. The Culture
Patagonia is most known for its gaucho culture, the traditional horsemanship and settler towns celebrating the colonial heritage. However, it’s also a land of the indigenous Tehuelche, Mapuche people and the vanished Selk’nam tribes. In fact, Patagonia owes its name to the indigenous hunter-gatherers whom the Spanish colonists named “Patagones” – “Big Feet” – because of their rumoured giant size and muscular physique. Although many of the indigenous peoples have perished, the Mapuche culture is still going strong and you can explore the Patagonian history and traditions as you travel
4. Delicious Cuisine
Patagonia is a wild and windswept country, so you’d expect the local food to be more about sustenance rather than flavour, right? Wrong. Patagonian cuisine is among the most delicious in the world, with specialties like Argentinian steaks or the Chilean lamb asado guaranteed to make your mouth water. Chilean empanadas, Cornish pasty-like pastries filled with minced meat, make for a great roadside snack when you’re riding a motorcycle.
5. Unlimited Adventure Riding
Patagonia is crisscrossed by endless gravel trails and tracks offering unlimited freedom if you’re a keen adventure rider longing to get off the tarmac. While some of the main roads connecting the bigger cities and towns are paved, there is no shortage of off-road riding in the mountains and along the glacial lakes and rivers, especially on the Chilean side.

A traveler's guide to Novosibirsk, the unofficial capital of Siberia
Trans-Siberian heritage
Residents of Novosibirsk love trains and are proud of the fact that their city played a significant role in the history of the grand Trans-Siberian railway, which spans the breadth of Russia. The railway is such a part of Novosibirsk identity that it is even depicted on the city’s emblem, along with the bridge that crosses the Ob river and two Siberian sables standing on their hind legs.
In the city, there are as many as five monuments to trains, and an open-air locomotive museum is located in the vicinity of the train station Seyatel’. The museum has more than 100 steam locomotives, diesel locomotives and carriages, reflecting the history of rail transportation in Russia from pre-revolutionary times to the present day. Wondering around the stationary trains and comparing your height with the diameter of the gigantic iron wheels of the first steam locomotives is all very well, but why not climb inside the carriages and see how the nobility once traveled across Russia in pre-revolutionary times? These tours will however need to be booked in advance. The museum opens from 11:00 until 17:00 every day except Mondays.
Novosibirsk spans both sides of the river Ob. In the early twentieth century, the border of two different timezones passed right through the city which led to a strange situation- morning on the east bank started one hour earlier than on the west bank! The two-kilometer covered metro bridge that crosses the river is considered the longest in the world. Due to the fluctuations in temperature across the year (on average +30 °C to -30 °C), during the summer the metro bridge expands, and in the winter it contracts by half a meter. To counter these effects, the bridge’s supports are equipped with special rollers that allow it to move.
The cultural center of Siberia
The repertoire of the theatre can be viewed on its official website . The theatre season runs from September to July, and comprises mainly classical performances, like the ballet “The Nutcracker” by Tchaikovsky, Borodin’s opera “Prince Igor” and Verdi’s “La Traviata”.
The large Siberian sea and ligers
Weekends are best spent at the Novosibirsk zoo . The zoo is known for breeding big cats, although surrounded by controversy, hosts a successful crossing of a tiger and lion, which of course would not otherwise breed in wildlife. Ligers, or exotic cubs of an African lion and Bengal tigress, feel quite comfortable in the Siberian climate and even produce offspring. The zoo is open to visitors year-round, seven days a week, and even has its own free mobile app, Zoo Nsk .
Every year at the beginning of January, the festival of snow culture takes place bringing together artists from across Russia and around the world to participate in a snow sculpting competition. The tradition started in 2000 inspired by the snow festival in Sapporo, Novosibirsk’s twin-city.
Siberian Silicon Valley
Despite the fact that Akademgorodok was built half a century ago in the middle of the uninhabited Siberian taiga, architecturally it was ahead of its time. No trees were destroyed for its construction, and houses were built right in the middle of the forest. A man walking through the woods would seemingly stumble upon these structures. At that time, no one had built anything similar in the world and ecovillages only became fashionable much later.
For residents of the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok is a different world. When you step out the bus or car, you are immediately on one of the hiking paths through the forest, between the scientific buildings and clubs. On a walk through Akademgorodok, it is possible to unexpectedly encounter art-like objects handmade by residents of the city which have been erected as monuments and some monuments fixed up by city authorities. For example, the monument to the laboratory mice, which knits a strand of DNA on to some needles, can be found in the square alongside the Institute of Cytology and Genetics. In Akademgorodok there are many cafes and restaurants, in which it is possible to rest after a long walk. Grab a coffee and go to eat at Traveler’s Coffee , or eat lunch at the grille and bar People’s or Clover .
Winters in the Akademgorodok are slightly colder than in the city, so wrap up. Spring and summer are usually wetter, so waterproof boots are recommended. In the summer the Ob sea provides respite from the heat, so do not forget your swimsuit to go for a dip.
Memento Mori
Among the exhibits of the museum is one dedicated to world funeral culture — hearses, memorial jewellery from the hair of the deceased, samples from a specific photo-genre of "post mortem", a collection of funeral wear from the Victorian era, deathmasks, statues and monuments. There’s also an impressive collection of coffins. One of them, resembling a fish, was manufactured on a special visit to Novosibirsk by a designer coffin-maker from Africa, Eric Adjetey Anang, who specializes in the production of unusual coffins.
Surprisingly, the crematorium itself does not look at all gloomy in appearance and definitely does not look like infernal scenes from movies, or like crematoriums of other cities that gravitate towards gloomy temple aesthetics. The Novosibirsk crematorium is decorated in “cheerful” orange tones and is surrounded by a park with a children’s playground nearby. A visit to the museum then leaves you with mixed feelings.
Novosibirsk underground
Tourists from all over the world go down into the Moscow metro to take a ride and a few selfies in the most famous underground museum. The Novosibirsk metro is also quite a museum in itself — it has 13 stations, the most beautiful of which is Gagarinskaya, Sibirskaya and Rechnoy Vokzal.
The ultramodern Gagarinskaya station is like a real cosmos underground. Its technologically themed design includes marble walls with metallic elements, dark blue backlighting and portraits of Yuri Gagarin. The Sibirskaya station looks like an underground treasure trove, decorated by Altai masters craftsmen with mosaics of precious Siberian stones. The Rechnoy Vokzal station is framed with ten glowing stained glass windows depicting the largest cities of Siberia, including Novosibirsk itself, Omsk, Barnaul and others. The platform resembles a big ship sailing on the Ob, from which ancient Siberian cities are visible through its windows.
How to get there
The easiest way to get to Novosibirsk is by plane with Aeroflot or Novosibirsk airline S7 with one-way tickets from Moscow costing from 200-250 USD. If you decide to take from the train from Moscow, you’ll have to travel approximately a third of the Trans-Siberian Railway. That’s 3,300 kilometers over almost a three-day journey.
Where to stay
There are many great hotels in Novosibirsk. Amongst the best include a four-star Doubletree hotel by Hilton , which is located near Lenin Square (per room from $200). After renovations and repairs, the congress-hotel Novosibirsk has improved (per room from $100) and is located across from the train station. Less expensive but of a similar standard is the four-star River Park hotel near Rechnoy Vokzal metro station, which costs $80 per night.
