FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - You are invited to visit Town & Country homes on April 22-23 and 29-30 from noon to 5pm each day.

There are homes of all types and wide range of costs are featured in this event, so there’s something for everyone. Builder representatives will be on-site to answer questions or provide information. 2021 Spring Town & Country Tour

• Fort Wayne Community

This year’s Spring Town & Country New Home and Specialty Retail Tour, presented by the Home Builders Association of Fort Wayne (HBA) is just around the corner! This popular, annual event is free, featuring homes at a variety of price points and with various floor plans. The tour is comprised of homes, villas, subdivisions, and in-home vendors scattered throughout Fort Wayne and surrounding areas.

The tour will take place from noon to five on April 24 th  and 25 th  and May 1 st  & 2 nd . To learn more, you can visit the HBA website . If you are unable to attend the tour in person, you can also view the homes online, here .

Our beloved Home Town hosts, Erin and Ben Napier, recently renovated a stately brick Tudor house in Laurel, Mississippi. It’s meant to be a home away from home for the whole family — a place where the kids can run around outside and play, Erin tells Southern Living .

With “huge heart-pine beams, wide plank floors, tongue-and-groove paneling and custom millwork,” the home boasts a British ambiance Erin describes as “cozy.”

“We got the gang back together!” Little Big Town ‘s Karen Fairchild wrote online as the country icons announced their upcoming tour with Sugarland.

Dubbed the Take Me Home tour, tickets for the North American trek are now on sale — and it’s bound to be one of the hottest tours of the year. The Take Me Home shows kick off in October at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, with dates scheduled all over the country including Pittsburgh, Austin, and wrapping up in Music City.

“25 years of music and we can’t wait to celebrate it with you,” Little Big Town wrote online to announce the Take Me Home tour, which the groups promoted following their cover performance of Phil Collins’ 1985 track of the same name during the CMT Awards in April.

The bands haven’t revealed a set list for the tour dates, but there’s no doubt fans will get to hear their new collab “Take Me Home” in person. Here’s what you need to know about scoring Little Big Town and Sugarland tickets (before they sell out).

Little Big Town, Sugarland unite for 'Take Me Home' U.S. tour, tickets on sale soon

M ulti-platinum Grammy Award-winning Little Big Town, comprised of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook is set to embark on a U.S. tour. 

The country music group has teamed up with Sugarland for its Take Me Home Tour, which will stop in Tulsa at the BOK Center on Saturday, November 23. 

On Sunday, the two groups performed their new song "Take Me Home" at the CMT Awards. 

"Last night felt like a real homecoming for us and a full circle moment. When we toured with Sugarland last, we would all be backstage harmonizing different cover songs to try and surprise the audience every night. There's something about this song that feels so nostalgic of that time. It really is like coming home," said Little Big Town. "The Take Me Home tour feels like a celebration of being a band for 25 years and we're so excited to throw this party with our great friends Sugarland. We'll both be playing all our biggest hits and then some. Can't wait to see everyone!"

Little Big Town and Sugarland's rendition of "Take Me Home", originally written and released by Phil Collins in 1985, gives the song a new meaning, and the performance at the CMT Awards served as a 'monumental homecoming for the two country music giants.'

Fans will hear the newly released single live this fall on the Take Me Home U.S. Tour, produced by Live Nation and Sandbox Live, with special guest Sugarland and support from The Castellows. 

The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for fans. Packages vary but include premium tickets, an interactive Little Big Town coffee book, a limited edition and autographed tour poster, and more. 

Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 12, at 10 A.M., and will be available online here.

Cicada map 2024: See where to find Brood XIX and XIII − and where they've already been spotted

For many Americans, the cicadas are here .

Trillions of periodical cicadas are already emerging in a rare, two brood event across multiple states , with more expected to come in the following weeks. Thanks to warm temperatures and good conditions, these 13- or 17-year cicadas are emerging from their underground habitats to eat, mate and die, making a whole lot of noise in the process.

Broods XIX and XIII have not emerged together since 1803, and after this year, won't emerge together again until 2245. While they are largely in different states, they are both emerging in parts of Illinois and Iowa.

So if you've seen one cicada or hundreds of cicadas, here's where you can expect to see more this year.

Are cicadas already out in 2024?

Adult periodical cicadas from Brood XIX have been spotted by users in multiple states across the Southeast and Midwest including in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia and Illinois, according to  Cicada Safari , a cicada tracking app developed by Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Through Cicada Safari, users can confirm their sightings of cicadas with pictures, look at a map of other cicada sightings, join a leaderboard with other users and learn more information about cicadas.

The two cicada broods are projected to emerge in a combined 17 states across the South and Midwest. They emerge once the soil eight inches underground reaches 64 degrees, expected to begin in many states in May and lasting through late June.

The two broods  last emerged together in 1803 , when Thomas Jefferson was president.

What is a brood?

According to the  University of Connecticut , broods are classified as "all periodical cicadas of the same life cycle type that emerge in a given year."

A brood of cicadas is made up of different species of the insect that have separate evolutionary histories. These species may have joined the brood at different times or from different sources. These different species are lumped together under the brood because they are in the same region and emerge on a common schedule.

Why do cicadas make so much noise?

You'll have to thank the male cicadas for all that screeching. Male cicadas synchronize their calls and produce congregational songs, according to  Britannica , which establish territory and attract females. There is also a courting call that they make before mating.

Unluckily for us, the 13-year and 17-year brood cicadas  are the loudest , partially because of the sheer number of them that emerge at once.

Who is Performing at the ACM Awards?

The ACM Awards show is known for its stellar lineup of performers every year, and this year is no exception. In April, the Academy announced the initial slate of performers which includes: Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert , Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson . Reba McEntire will also take the stage to perform a brand new song!

In the week leading up to the show, ACM announced even more performers. Post Malone, who collaborated with Morgan Wallen on his new song "I Had Some Help," will take the ACM stage for the first time ever. Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan will take the stage as a duo as well as New Male Artist of the Year nominee Nate Smith and Avril Lavigne. Husband and wife Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will also perform a duet (they've had some practice on this front). Lastly, Parker McCollum rounds out the list of 2024 ACM performers.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is open for the season, daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maine Days are May 31 to June 2, when anyone with a Maine driver’s license or state ID gets in for free. Ditto for dads/father figures on Father’s Day (June 16). Advance registration is required. With more than 300 acres of gardens and natural spaces, including a waterfall, there will be plenty to see, smell and bask in the scenery.

Viles Arboretum is a botanical garden in Augusta with 6 miles of trails and more than 20 botanical collections. It’s open daily from sunrise to sunset, and admission is free. There are 224 acres with all sorts of flora and fauna to discover. Leashed dogs are welcome, and the visitor center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Viles Arboretum offers medicinal plant walks, and although the May 18 session is full, you can still register for the June 15 and Sept. 14 events, lead by herbalist, homeopath and flower essence practitioner Debra Bluth. Tickets are $25. Advertisement

The Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve has four areas to explore on its property in Northeast Harbor: the Asticou Azelea Garden (dawn to dusk daily), the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden (noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday from July 9 to Sept. 8, reservations required), Thuya Garden (dawn to dusk daily, June 15 to Oct. 14) and Little Long Pond Natural Lands (hiking trails and carriage roads open dawn to dusk daily). On June 26, at the Wildflowers of Little Long Pond event, participants can wander around the garden’s fields and forest, spotting wildflowers along the way while practicing how to identify them.

2nd Annual Tree Hugging 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Deering Oaks Park, Portland. portlandmaine.gov The tree hugging is a family-friendly community gathering to celebrate Portland’s many trees. Park ranger Liz Collado will lead a sensory awakening and forest bathing session. Along with tree hugging, there will be a storytime, and you can touch a forestry truck and meet naturalist Noah Querido and Portland city arborist Mark Reiland. Just down the road, you’ll find Fessenden Park, on the corner of Brighton and Deering Avenues. The tulips have arrived, and it’s worth a visit to see them.

As you make your way down the list, you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised by all of the hidden havens bursting with flowers, plants and impressive yardscaping elements.

Peony Society of Maine 23rd annual Garden Tour 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8 and 15. Both tours start at 1348 Ohio St., Bangor, $5 donation. peonysocietyofmaine.net You’ll visit multiple gardens in Bangor, Winterport, Ripley and St. Albans, and your senses will be filled with countless peonies. Hidden Gardens of Historic Bath 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22. Sagadahoc Preservation Inc., 880 Washington St., Bath, $40. sagadahocpreservation.org The Hidden Gardens of Historic Bath house and garden tour features several homes in North Bath. Every stop on the tour will be a treat for your senses and may motivate you to make some of your own magic when you get back home.

Garden Conservancy Open Garden Days 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29. Beckett Castle Rose Garden, Singles Road, Cape Elizabeth, $10. gardenconservancy.org You’ll see plenty of roses as well as ocean views at Beckett Castle, which sits right on the water, with views of five lighthouses. The castle was built in 1871, and its rose garden features more than 70 varieties of heirloom roses. A 50-foot stone tower doubles as the rose arbor entrance to the castle.

PICK A PLANT SALE

Tate House Museum’s Annual Plant and Herb Sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18. Tate House Museum, 1267 Westbrook St., Portland, 207-774-6177.  tatehouse.org The wide selection includes perennials divided from the museum’s 18th century reproduction garden. Visitors can also make their own “seed bombs” and get a sneak peak at a new installation by artist Ashley Page from 10 a.m. to noon.

Taking Root Plant Sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1, Tom Settlemire Community Garden, Maurice Drive, Brunswick, 207-729-7694.  btlt.org This annual sale is organized by the Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust. Proceeds benefit the Common Good Garden, which provides food and gardening education for the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program. Master gardeners will be on hand to help shoppers choose their best options.

Scarborough Land Trust Native Plant Sale and Spring Festival 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 1, Broadturn Farm, 388 Broadturn Road, Scarborough, 207-289-1199.  scarboroughlandtrust.org Visitors will find native plants, food vendors, local artisans, guided nature walks and activities for kids.
