Foods to Eat in Bali
Alongside browsing through available Bali packages, make sure to also look into the exciting regional cuisine. One of the best experiences about visiting exotic places like Bali is the experience related to trying the local cuisines there. The amazing flavour made from blending local spices used through generations is all the reason to try local dishes in Balinese cafes and restaurants, leaving behind (at least for a while) the conventional food we all are so used to eating!
Here’s what you must try dishesh in Bali:
- Fried/Smoked Duck
- Local Ice cream
- Barbeque Food
- Jimbaran Seafood
- Balinese Kopi
Fried/Smoked Duck:
Most menu cards will have Bebek Goreng (Fried Duck) or BebekBetutu (Smoked Duck) as their specialties. If you spot them, well, we are telling you, you must try them! Fried Duck is the conventional seasoned, boiled or steamed deep fried duck. Smoked Duck, on the other hand, is smoked for over 24 hours after being seasoned with local spices. Both are traditional Balinese dishes served with rice, vegetables and dips.
Local Ice cream:
If you thought Bali was just about beaches and swimming and temples, you thought wrong. Bali is also about food- particularly about ice cream! Get ready to spot several small gelatos or cafes that produce their very own, very Balinese ice cream. Once there, make sure you try their local flavours like the red dragon fruit, lemongrass or lychee! There’ll be no regrets, we assure you. Enjoy your dream vacation in Bali with your spouse by opting for the honeymoon special Bali trip packages on our website.
Barbeque Food:
Do you remember reading novels or watching movies where a group of friends just sit at the beach, around the fire and munch of barbequed snacks? Well, this can now very well be a scene out of your life, for the smell of charcoal-grilled meat is so tempting- something we must not ignore and indulge in! What makes Balinese barbeque food stand out from others is its seamless blend of sweet, savoury and slightly smoky taste with the perfect balance of meat and spices. So, make sure to try the Balinese barbecue food during your Bali tour.
Jimbaran Seafood:
This category of food is available at all the shacks along the Jimbaran beach. Cafes and shacks that specialize in Jimbaran seafood let their customers pick the sea food either from the a la carte menu or offer pre-set meals for more than two people.
Balinese Kopi:
What is even a vacation without some relaxing coffee? The Balinese Kopi, or coffee, is famous and for all the right reasons- it blends coffee grown in fertile volcanic lands. The stalls on main roads, or on beaches offer varieties of coffees- hot and cold. Let us handle the aspect of meals alongside accommodations, sightseeing, flights, etc., while you enjoy your dream vacation by going with Bali travel packages offered by Thomas Cook.
Things to Do in Bali
Bali, often referred to as the "Island of the Gods," is a mesmerizing destination known for its stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and diverse range of activities. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion, Bali has something for everyone. Here's a list of things to do in Bali to make the most of your visit:
- White Water Rafting in Ayung River
- Surfing in Padang Padang and Kuta
- Join a Balinese cooking class
- Sunrise Trek to Mount Batur
- Bathe in the Pura TirtaEmpul Temple
- Museum hopping
- Watch and enjoy a traditional dance
- Explore the Artisans Village
White Water Rafting in Ayung River:
The Ayung River near Ubud is Bali’s longest and largest rapids. Just thinking about rafting in Ayung River is giving us the thrills! To add a big and red cherry on the cake, let us also tell you that the Ayung River is set in a beautiful backdrop of wild, unspoiled jungle, scenic rice fields and towering gorges. What you must expect from White Water Rafting in Ayung River is refreshing waterfalls, swirling foamy water, sudden drops and lots and lots of adrenaline rush! For the best adventure experience, opt for Bali packages that include these activities as standard attributes.
Surfing in Padang Padang and Kuta:
Can we really talk about beaches without talking about surfing? What an injustice it would be! Padang Padang Beach, in Bukit Peninsula (north-west coast) is one of the most famous surf spots of Bali and is visited by surfers from around the world. What’s more, Padang Padang is also host to international surfing events like Rip Curl Cup Padang.
For beginners, however, heading to the Kuta beach will be a safer and more enjoyable surfing experience. This beach has several surfing schools, too.
Join a Balinese cooking class:
Yes, this is as unusual for us as it would seem to you! But, believe it or not, as part of a Bali Tour Package, you can join a home cooking class where you will be taught by locals the secret of authentic Balinese cooking. These cooking classes are coupled with market tours to find fresh vegetables, aromatic spices and other ingredients.
Sunrise Trek to Mount Batur:
The sunrise view from Mount Batur is one of the most exquisite views in the entire region of Bali. An early morning trek up Mount Batur is famous just for the views. Since Mount Batur is one of the active volcanoes in Bali, your visit needs to be accompanied by a certified local guide. Bali tours are incomplete without going for this mesmerising trek, so make sure to go for this experience.
Bathe in the Pura TirtaEmpul Temple:
A national heritage site, the TirtaEmpul Temple in Manukaya Village is a temple dating back to 960 AD. This legendary temple has a sacred water spring which is said to have healing properties. The Pura TirtaEmpul Temple is frequented by tourists from across the world who come to take a bath in the blessed water. Get to enjoy similar delightful experiences by opting for Bali travel packages from our website.
Museum hopping:
Bali is not entirely about beaches. It is also about cultural sights like museums and galleries. The Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) is the place to go to explore the creative arts of Bali- it features Balinese architecture. Its creativity is heightened by its location- it is set amidst tropical gardens. The museum also hosts gamelan orchestras, woodcarvings, dance performances, history and indigenous fabrics. Museum visits are often included as a part of popular Bali packages.
Watch and enjoy a traditional dance:
One of the things to do in Bali is watch performances of Balinese dance forms such as Legong, Topeng, Kecak and Barong. These performances happen in multiple venues, one of which is the Ubud Palace where Balinese girls, dressed in traditional attire, dance to recite Hindu epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata.
Explore the Artisans Village:
It is often said that the best way to explore a region is to explore its culture through its people. We agree with this, completely. And, what better way to explore a place’s culture than through its artists? Bali offers you trips and visits to its artisans’ villages where you can interact with and learn from the artisan’s crafts of great varieties. Celuk village is known for its silversmiths- here, you can not only shop for high-quality silver jewellery, but can also learn how to craft them. Batuan village in Ubud is another artisan village. This one is famous for traditional Balinese paintings. Here, you can get hands-on lessons on traditional Balinese art, wood carving and dancing.
Step out of your geographical boundaries and into this diverse land of relaxation, exploration and fun! Book your trip to Bali with offer through Thomas Cook India now, and give us the chance to make this vacation the vacation of your dreams!

Popularly known as the “Land of Thousand Temples”, it is no wonder that this island is home to some of the most important and well-known religious shrines in the country. Here are some of the most popular temples that you can include in your Bali tour itinerary;
Uluwatu Temple
The Uluwatu temple is one of the best places to visit in Bali for religious tours. Nestled on top of a cliff, roughly 70 metres above sea level, this temple welcomes thousands of devotees and tourists on their Bali tours and travels. Locally known as “Pura Luhur Uluwatu”, the shrine is dedicated to the deity Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa as Rudra. Besides its religious significance and alluring surrounding beauty, one of the main highlights of this temple is the Kecak Dance Performance, which is based on the Ramayana and takes place every day between 6-7 P.M. on an adjacent cliff-top stage. You can easily find Bali tour packages that include a visit to this temple.
Pura Bratan Temple
Pura Bratan, or the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, is one of the most beautiful tourist places you can check out during your Bali tour. Located on the west of Lake Bratan in Bedugul, the Pura Ulun Danu Beratan is affiliated with Hinduism and features three shrines dedicated to Brahma-Vishnu-Shiva. The Pagoda-style temple architecture, a “floating” appearance due to the surrounding lake and the backdrop of the Bedugul mountains make this site one of the most beautiful religious landmarks in Bali. It is one of the most-visited tourist landmarks in the region, commonly found in popular Bali tour packages.
Located approximately 5 kilometres from the centre of Ubud, Goa Gajah is one of the most popular cultural and spiritual places to visit in Bali. Also called the “Elephant Cave”, Goa Gajah is a temple cave that features several intricate carvings and relics belonging to Buddhism and Shaivism. The temple complex is home to several attractions, such as the detailed cave entrance, an ancient pool, intricate stonework and relics, etc., all of which will leave you captivated. It is best to go for Bali tour packages that feature this site as a standard inclusion.
Taman Saraswati Temple
The Pura Taman Saraswati, also known as Ubud Water Palace, is one of the most significant religious landmarks you can visit during your Bali tour. Located at the heart of the Ubud town centre, it is a Balinese Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Saraswati. The Pura Taman Saraswati is known for its exceptional temple architecture. The massive temple complex houses a beautiful lotus pond and water garden, which are two main highlights of the site. Tourists can also check out the Cafe Lotus for some delicious snacks and witness traditional dance performances at this location.
Bali Currency
As this province is a part of Indonesia, the official Bali currency is also the Indonesian Rupiah. It is denoted by the symbol “Rp” and the currency code “IDR”. What is the Best Time to Visit Indonesia from India?
Indonesia’s proximity to India makes for a convenient Southeast Asian getaway. Deciding on the best time to visit Indonesia from India requires factoring in India’s school holidays, Indonesia’s wet and dry seasons across different islands, peak crowds, and ideal weather conditions for your itinerary.
Here is an overview of what to consider when planning the ideal Indonesia trip from India:
Seasons in Indonesia
Wet/Rainy Season : October to April brings the highest rainfall, particularly from December to February. Humidity is high, and temperatures reach the mid-30s Celsius. Downpours are intense but often brief.
Dry Season : May to September sees much less rain. The skies are sunnier, with slightly cooler temps around the low 30s Celsius. July to September have the least precipitation.
Shoulder Seasons : The transitional months of April-May and September-October are excellent times to travel. You’ll avoid major rain disruptions, and there will be fewer tourists than in peak months.
Best Times for Indian Travellers
Summer School Holidays (May – June) : Indonesia’s dry season coincides perfectly with school summer vacations in India, making May and June ideal times to visit. However, temperatures do increase across Indonesia as June approaches.
Winter School Holidays (End Nov—Mid Jan) : December is a popular time for Indian families to travel to Indonesia to escape the cold. Rain showers can occur but don’t last too long. Bali and Java have the least rain during December and January.
Avoid Peak Times : Indonesian & Chinese New Year (Jan/Feb), Easter Week (March/April), and July/August bring huge crowds and higher hotel rates, especially in Bali.
Best Cultural Festivals : Experience unique festivals and events in Indonesia during August (Independence Day) or September (Jakarta’s Anniversary).
Surfing : Indonesia’s peak surf season runs from April/May (before rains start) through October (before monsoon swells).
Top Destinations for Each Season
Bali – Year-round destination. April-October has ideal dry weather. December-March can have rain, but it’s still enjoyable.
Java – October-April brings more rain. It’s best from May to September.
Lombok – Visiting May-September will maximise sunshine and minimal rain.
Komodo Islands – April-September offers a drier experience and excellent diving visibility.
Sumatra — The coolest and driest months are June to August, and orangutan viewing is also best during these months.
Flores – May and September are slightly cooler, drier weather.
Sulawesi – July-September promises plenty of sun mixed with cultural events.
Raja Ampat – September-December brings ideal diving conditions and fewer crowds.
Advice for Planning Your Indonesia Trip
- Aim for the shoulder or dry seasons to maximise sunshine, avoid rain, and avoid travel delays.
- Don’t rule out wet-season travel. But it would be best if you were prepared for occasional downpours. The plus side is smaller crowds and lower prices.
- Choose activities based on peak seasons—e.g., visit the Komodo Islands for diving in April-Sept and catch surfing waves in May-Oct.
- Allow extra time around major Indonesian holidays when domestic tourists flock to popular spots.
- Focus your trip on 1-2 main islands instead of trying to cover too much ground. Indonesia is huge!
- Spend time in a mix of mountain/jungle areas and beach destinations to appreciate the diversity.

Top Things to Do in Indonesia: Unmissable Experiences
Here are the top things to do in Indonesia that should be on your radar.
Explore the Fabled Island of Bali
Every visit to Indonesia is complete with venturing to the legendary island of Bali. Renowned for its artistic traditions, iconic rice paddies, and spiritual essence, Bali casts a spell on all who set foot on its shores. Wander through the sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud, watching the cheeky primates play amidst ancient temples draped in intricate stone carvings. Catch a mesmerising Balinese dance performance that brings ancient Hindu tales to life through ornate costumes and skilled choreography. Indulge in a pampering massage or rejuvenating yoga retreat to soothe your body and mind.
Encounter the Mighty Komodo Dragons
Come face-to-face with the fearsome yet fascinating Komodo dragons, the largest living lizards on Earth, found only in Indonesia’s Komodo National Park. These prehistoric-looking creatures, growing up to 3 metres in length, are an extraordinary sight to behold. Embark on a guided trek through the rugged landscapes of Komodo, Rinca, or Padar islands, watching for these magnificent reptiles basking in the sun or stalking their prey. Be sure to adhere to safety protocols and maintain a respectful distance from these formidable predators.
Dive into Underwater Wonderlands
With its prime location straddling the Pacific and Indian Oceans, Indonesia is a diver’s paradise, offering some of the world’s most spectacular underwater realms. Raja Ampat, an archipelago off the coast of West Papua, is renowned for its staggering marine biodiversity, boasting over 1,500 fish species and 600 types of coral. Explore vibrant reefs teeming with kaleidoscopic marine life, from tiny pygmy seahorses to majestic manta rays gliding gracefully overhead. Other top diving destinations include the Komodo Islands, Bunaken National Park, and the Gili Islands, each offering unique underwater landscapes and encounters with remarkable creatures.
Climb Mythical Volcanoes
Indonesia’s volcanic landscapes are captivating, with towering peaks shrouded in mystical lore and breathtaking vistas. Embark on a challenging hike to the summit of Mount Bromo, an active volcano in East Java, and witness its spectacular caldera at sunrise – a sight that will leave you awestruck. Or ascend the slopes of the revered Mount Agung in Bali, a sacred mountain steeped in Hindu mythology that offers panoramic views of the entire island. For the ultimate adventure, consider trekking up Mount Rinjani on the island of Lombok. This multi-day journey rewards you with stunning crater lakes and vistas over the surrounding volcanic peaks.
Uncover Ancient Temples and Ruins
Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage is etched into its breathtaking temples and ancient ruins, inviting you to step back in time and unravel the mysteries of bygone eras. Marvel at the awe-inspiring Borobudur, a 9th-century Buddhist monument in Central Java with thousands of intricately carved Buddha statues and stupas. Wander through the majestic Hindu temples of Prambanan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing the architectural brilliance of the Mataram Kingdom. Or delve into the lesser-known Muara Takus Compounds in Sumatra, where crumbling temples and rock carvings offer a tantalising glimpse into the region’s ancient Buddhist past.
Immerse in Vibrant Cultural Festivals
Indonesia’s cultural tapestry is woven with various vibrant festivals and ceremonies celebrating its diverse traditions and beliefs. Time your visit to coincide with the spectacular Grebeg Ritual in Yogyakarta, where the Sultan’s palace becomes the focal point of a colourful procession and festivities honouring the Javanese goddesses. Witness the unique Pasola ritual on the island of Sumba, where two groups of warriors on horseback hurl bamboo spears at each other in a centuries-old tradition. Or partake in the captivating Tana Toraja funeral ceremonies in Sulawesi, where elaborate rituals and effigies honour the dead in a celebration of life and ancestral heritage.
Navigate Mystical Rivers and Rainforests
Exploring Indonesia’s lush rainforests and winding rivers is an adventure unto itself. Embark on a multi-day trek through the dense jungles of Sumatra or Kalimantan, looking for elusive wildlife like the endangered Sumatran tiger or the majestic orangutans swinging through the canopy. Cruise along the Mahakam River in East Kalimantan, where traditional Dayak villages and towering granite cliffs create a surreal, otherworldly landscape. Or navigate the black-water tributaries of the Kapuas River in West Kalimantan, drifting past pristine rainforests and experiencing the true essence of Borneo’s wilderness.
Discover Intriguing Indigenous Cultures
Indonesia’s vast archipelago is home to a kaleidoscope of indigenous cultures, each with unique traditions, arts, and ways of life. Spend time with the Toraja people of Sulawesi, renowned for their intricate wood carvings, ancient funeral rites, and distinctive tongkonan houses adorned with vibrant motifs. On the island of Sumba, immerse yourself in the fascinating Marapu culture, where ancient animist beliefs intertwine with daily life, from traditional ikat weaving to iconic stone tombs and ancestral shrines. These cultural encounters offer a rare glimpse into the rich tapestry of Indonesian heritage.
Surf World-Class Waves
With over 90,000 kilometres of coastline, Indonesia is a surfer’s paradise, boasting some of the world’s most sought-after waves and surf breaks. Head to the legendary Bali beaches of Uluwatu, Canggu, and Keramas to ride the perfect barrels and experience the island’s laidback surf culture. Or venture to the remote Mentawai Islands off the coast of Sumatra, where uncrowded waves and consistent swells make it a prime destination for avid surfers seeking untamed surf spots. For beginners, the gentle waves of Lombok’s Kuta and Selong Belanak beaches provide ideal conditions to hone your skills.
Unwind on Idyllic Islands
Indonesia’s myriad idyllic islands offer the perfect escape for tourists looking for their slice of paradise. Bask in the sun on the powder-white beaches of the Gili Islands, a trio of tiny islands off the coast of Lombok, where no motorised vehicles are allowed, creating a serene atmosphere. Explore the turquoise lagoons and lush jungle interiors of the Raja Ampat archipelago, a snorkeler’s and diver’s dream destination. Or embrace the laid-back vibe of the Togian Islands in Central Sulawesi, a remote and unspoiled paradise where time seems to stand still.
With its rich cultural tapestry, diverse natural wonders, and myriad adventures, Indonesia offers unparalleled experiences to suit every traveller’s desires. From encountering majestic wildlife and scaling mythical volcanoes to immersing yourself in ancient traditions and finding serenity on pristine islands, this archipelagic nation is a captivating destination that will forever etch itself into your memories.
Do's and Don'ts for Indian Travellers in Indonesia
Indonesia’s diverse culture and customs can require some adjustments from visitors from India. While locals are generally amiable and welcoming, knowing certain etiquette can help avoid faux pas or unintentionally offending someone. Follow these tips to stay respectful and have the best travel experience while in Indonesia:
- Dress conservatively when visiting religious sites like mosques, temples, or other holy places. Both men and women should cover their legs and shoulders.
- Remove your shoes before entering homes or sacred spaces.
- Eat or pass food with your right hand, as the left is considered unclean.
- Smile and maintain a relaxed, friendly composure. Indonesians value a gentle demeanour.
- Carry small bills for transactions, as vendors may not have change for extensive notes.
- Haggle respectfully at markets and when using taxis. There’s an art to polite bargaining.
- Learn basic Indonesian phrases like “hello,” “thank you,” and “how much?” Locals appreciate guests who try.
- Raise your voice or lose your temper in public. This causes a significant loss of face.
- Point with your finger, beckon, or wave to people. Use your right palm instead.
- Display overt public affection, especially in rural areas. It’s culturally inappropriate.
- Use your left hand to greet people or eat.
- Wear skimpy or too-revealing clothing away from beach towns. Modesty is valued.
- Make rude hand gestures, even when jesting with friends or while driving.
- Pet or touch monkeys at temples or tourist sites. They are wild animals and may bite.
- Hug or pat children on the head. Only touch youngsters if parents initiate.
Following these simple dos and don’ts will demonstrate your respect for Indonesian culture and good intentions as a visitor. Our knowledgeable staff can advise you further on specific customs for the regions you’ll visit. We want you to understand this amazing country on your personalised tour.
Discover Indonesia's rich cultural heritage
Discovering Indonesia is a journey filled with spectacular natural sights and cultural heritage. It’s one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world, with over 300 ethnic groups.
Colourful Festivities
Indonesian festivals are famous for their vibrancy. Whether it’s a marriage ceremony or a harvest festival, there’s always colour and excitement. One such festival is Nyepi, the Hindu New Year celebration in Bali, where people stay home and meditate all day. The Grebeg Ritual in Yogyakarta is also a traditional ritual: locals dress traditionally and perform colourful dances for Javanese goddesses. Lastly, the Pasola festival involves Sumba warriors riding horses and throwing bamboo spears at one another.
In Sulawesi, Tana Toraja’s funeral ceremonies occur after someone has passed away. However, this is not your ordinary mournful gathering; it is a celebration of life with extensive rituals and intricately adorned traditional houses.
Tasty Cuisine
Indonesian cuisine is special because it combines Chinese, Indian, Middle Eastern, and European cooking styles. Beef rendang is Sumatra’s speciality, while Nasi Campur, a mixed rice dish from Bali, satisfies any taste buds.
Street food also provides an incredible experience, with bites like barbecued marinated beef on skewers (satay), vegetable salad with peanut sauce (gado-gado), or meatball soup (bakso). If you like fresh fruits in different flavours, try these exotic treats: durian, sweet mangosteen, or snake fruit.
Ancient Traditions
These indigenous societies have preserved old traditions by passing them down through generations within families in Indonesia. In Sumba, people create such exquisite ikat fabric that UNESCO recognises it as a masterpiece. On the other hand, Sulawesi’s Toraja tribe creates marvellous wood carvings and adorns their traditional homes with symbols of forefathers.
Visit some traditional villages to get firsthand information about Bali’s sculptures, jewellery, and paintings.
Architectural Marvels
Indonesian architecture has been shaped by many influences over time. Borobudur Temple, with its 9th-century architecture and magnificent Javanese art, is the world’s largest Buddhist monument. Meanwhile, Prambanan has magnificent Hindu temples that reflect the ancient Mataram Kingdom.
Rice terraces and water temples, like Bali’s Pura Taman Ayun, depict the great respect Balinese people have for nature; this value has deep roots within them.
Make no mistake: immersing yourself in Indonesia’s cultural tapestry during your trip will be nothing short of amazing. From attending vibrant festivals and trying flavorful cuisine to learning from artisans who’ve perfected their craft over time and admiring architectural marvels, your stay here will be epic.

Q. Which is the best time to travel to Indonesia? A. Ahead of finalising one of the Indonesia packages, you need to first find out the best time to visit Indonesia. Visit between May, June and September which is the dry season when there is sunshine during the day and the skies are clear. It is the best time to go island hopping in the country. Indonesia is not too crowded at this time of the year. You can go on a hike, ride a bicycle. Many prefer the dry season for some aqua adventures like scuba diving and surfing. Diving can be enjoyed best off the coast of Bali, Lombok or Komodo National Park. The April to September window is also a good time for pursuing water activities. To go diving off Maluku and Papua, October to April is a good time. If you are a budget traveller, pick the winter months between October to April when it rains quite frequently, the humidity remains high with the maximum temperature reaching 30 degree Celsius. Though Christmas and New Years are a very busy time in Bali thronged by tourists from all over the world, the time between January and February are the wettest in the archipelago, bringing down the accommodation rates. Q. Are there direct flights from India to Indonesia? A. Once you have picked up one of the Indonesia tour packages, you need to figure out how to reach Indonesia and if there are any direct flights to it from your city. But the good news is there are several direct flights available from India to Indonesia. You have the choice to land at Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport or at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The average time taken to fly from Delhi is about 5 hours on a non-stop flight. There are several places to visit in Indonesia, but before making your itinerary you need to first book your flights. You can get flights, both direct and connecting, to Denpasar or Jakarta from Bangalore, New Delhi, Chennai, Kochi and Mumbai. Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is by far the busiest airport in Indonesia and from the Jakarta city centre it is about 20 kilometre away. Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport is a smaller airport in comparison but your best bet if you are headed to Bali. The airlines flying from Delhi to Jakarta comprise China Southern, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern, All Nippon Airways to name just a few. But the one with the best connectivity and services is Garuda Indonesia which is the country’s flag carrier and has elaborate services from New Delhi to Denpasar Bali. Q. What are the places to visit in Indonesia? A. Ahead of settling for one of the Indonesia holiday packages, you need to first shortlist the places you would like to see in this beautiful coastal country. On your Indonesia trip you need to primarily decide what sort of activities suit you, whether you are an adventurer at heart, a beach bum, a water sports lover or someone who loves arduous treks. You will be spoilt for choice, for there are umpteen things to do in Indonesia. Indonesia’s cultural capital, Ubud is home to the sentinel Buddha stupa looming over the Java skyline. Then there are the rainbow-hued crater lakes, Gili Islands with its white powdery sands, the sky-piercing Gunung Rinjani peaks. Not to mention, the archipelago is known for its breathtaking array of wildlife, some of which are endemic such as the gigantic Komodo Dragon lizards found in the Komodo Island of the Komodo National Park. The wild orangutans swaying from the trees in Bukit Lawang, a boat ride on a river in Borneo, passing through pristine wilderness with bird song in the air, a rewarding dive in the reef-laced waters of Banda Islands, meeting the local Dayak tribals, there is just so much to do in Indonesia that you would find it difficult to compose one single itinerary. Q. What is the currency of Indonesia and where can I get it changed? A. Indonesian Rupiah is the currency of Indonesia with each rupiah being divided into 100 sen. The currency code is IDR but locally Rp is the symbol used to denote the prices. Indonesian banknotes come in denominations of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, 50000 and 100000. And there are 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 rupiah coins. It is wise to choose to be charged in Indonesian currency when withdrawing money from ATMs. You could be offered to be paid in your own currency at the ATM, but you may end up paying a lot more than you intended to. Make payment in local currency to save some bucks and get the best available rates. If you need to urgently change some cash at the airport, just do a small amount, enough to pay your taxi fare and other immediate expenses. This is because airports markup the exchange rates and charge hidden fee. When you pay for meals at small cafes and restaurants or purchasing anything from souvenir shops prefer to pay in the local currency and use cash. And for bigger bills you can use the Wise debit card which gives you the best rate for spending in Indonesia Rupiah. All cities and major tourist spots across Indonesia have ATMs and you can use the Wise debit card to withdraw money in Indonesian Rupiah to avoid paying any hidden fee. Q. What is the time difference between India and Indonesia? A. Indonesia falls in the GMT+7 time zone of the Western Indonesian Time. Jakarta, the Indonesian capital is 1 hour 30 minutes ahead of India. Q. Do I need a visa to travel to Indonesia? A. Indian citizens travelling to Indonesia do not need a visa. But your trip needs to not exceed 30 days to make use of this exemption. For any travels beyond 30 days whether for tourism or business you would have to get yourself a visa. To enter the country you would have to get a visa exemption stamp from the immigration desk at the airport, and this can be availed free of cost. Q. Which is the best time to visit Bali? A. Bali is warm and humid round the year with the temperatures lingering in the high twenties, though it is a little cooler in the mountains and in Ubud which is the central region. While October to April marks the wet season and there would be plenty rain showers you would at least find better deals on hotels and can travel to several places without booking ahead, except Christmas and New Years. But if you are looking for the best time of the year to travel to Bali then it is between May to June and then September when the weather is dry and not too balmy, and it is the best time for exploring. For some hikes up the mountain and diving, May and June are the best months. For surfing in the west coast visit between April and October. But you need to avoid Bali in July and August when the place swells up with tourists and accommodation among other prices skyrocket. Q. What is Ubud in Indonesia famous for? A. Ubud the cultural heart of Bali is one of the reasons why Indonesia is on the tourist map. It not only gives you a glimpse of the traditional Balinese culture but even the streets of Ubud imbue this creative energy, with daily life showcasing a sense of sustainability, culinary inventiveness being visible across its multiple cafes and restaurants, and a culture of relaxation and rejuvenation forever prevalent, Ubud is an incredible holiday destination. Visit Ubud’s monkey forest, browse its art museums and marvel at the carvings in the Pura Taman Saraswati temple, and you will still be left with so much more to do.

Best Things to Do in Indonesia
Places to visit in indonesia, how many days to spend in indonesia, why should you buy packages for indonesia.
Opting for an Indonesia tour package is a prudent choice that effectively addresses the challenges travelers might encounter during their visit to this diverse and vibrant country. Here's why purchasing a Indonesia tour package for Indonesia is important: 1. Navigating Complex Geography : Indonesia is an archipelago with thousands of islands, each offering unique attractions. Planning transportation, accommodations, and activities across different islands can be daunting. A tour package streamlines this complexity, ensuring a seamless transition between destinations without the stress of organizing multiple transfers. 2. Cultural Diversity and Etiquette: Indonesia's rich cultural tapestry demands sensitivity to local customs and etiquettes, which can vary significantly from one region to another. A reputable tour package is crafted by experts who understand these nuances, allowing you to engage with diverse communities respectfully and confidently. 3. Language Barrier Mitigation: Communicating in local languages can be challenging, especially in less touristy areas. Tour packages often provide experienced local guides who bridge the language gap, ensuring clear communication and facilitating deeper connections with local communities. 4. Optimal Time Management: Indonesia's vastness and array of attractions can result in time-consuming planning. A tour package optimizes your itinerary, ensuring that you make the most of your time while minimizing waiting or downtime between activities. 5. Effortless Access to Remote Gems: Some of Indonesia's most enchanting places are tucked away in offbeat corners. Accessing these hidden gems can be complicated, but tour packages often provide exclusive access, granting you the opportunity to explore secluded wonders that independent travelers might miss. 6. Safety and Local Support: Navigating unfamiliar terrain comes with inherent risks. A tour package ensures that you have local support and assistance, enhancing your safety and providing guidance in unfamiliar situations. 7. Cuisine and Dietary Preferences: Indonesia offers a tantalizing array of cuisines, but dietary preferences and allergies can be a concern. Best Time to Visit Indonesia
The best time to visit Indonesia is during the dry season, which varies across different regions of the country. In general, the dry season spans from April to October in many popular tourist destinations like Bali, Java, Lombok, and the Gili Islands. This period offers sunny weather, lower rainfall, and ideal conditions for outdoor activities, including beach vacations, water sports, and exploring the diverse landscapes. However, it's important to note that Indonesia's climate can vary greatly from one island to another, so it's recommended to check the specific weather patterns for your intended destination before planning your trip.

Indonesia Tour Package From Delhi
Out in the Pacific Ocean, Borneo is densely inhabited, but it is still a well-preserved stretch of land in spite of that, with lush greenery, crawling with all sorts of fauna. The island comes under the rule of three different countries, with each owning a specific, agreed-upon section of the land. Indonesia gets the biggest piece of the pie, with 73% of the territory on Borneo coming under its political boundaries, with the rest of the island shared between Malaysia and Brunei. Home to one of the oldest rainforests anywhere in the world, Borneo has a lot of indigenous wildlife to see, such as the Bornean Orang-utan, the Proboscis Monkey, the Borneo Bay Cat, Pygmy Elephants and many other animals. It is one of the best spots in all of Indonesia for nature lovers, with the tribal people living on this island having their own interesting culture, traditions and arts.
The Merapi Volcano, known as Gunung Merapi natively, is a prominent volcano in Indonesia. Located right on the border between the regions of Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces, the volcano is still active, having erupted quite regularly since at least 1548 AD.
The Jakarta Cathedral, also known as the St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral is a part of the Roman Catholic branch of Christianity. It was constructed in 1901 and sports some iconic Christian architecture. Located right in front of the Istiqlal Mosque, the Jakarta Cathedral sports the typical Church architecture. It has three spires decorating the structure. The North Tower is called the Tower of David, while the South Tower is called the Ivory Tower. The Ivory Tower has clocks that even to this day hasn't broken down and stopped functioning.
Places To Visit In Indonesia From Delhi
Ideal duration.
Indonesia is a massive, massive country and the only way to see everything it has to offer is to stay here for months, perhaps even years. However, there are certain highlights that you could visit in a much shorter span, with the help of an Indonesia tour package from Delhi, that will give you a rough idea of what this land is all about.
Best Time to Visit
There’s no summer as such in Indonesia, but the equivalent would be the “dry” season that lasts from the month of May to September. Temperatures are stable and tolerable around this time, sticking around the 28? mark. This is an especially popular time of the year to visit Indonesia.
Similar to the way summers work, Indonesia has a “wet” season rather than a proper monsoon. Once again, the temperature isn’t too different from what it is during the dry season, meaning it's generally comfortable to be outside in this weather. The only real difference between the two seasons is that between October and April, Indonesia experiences bouts of intense but short-lived rains basically every day, whereas in the dry season they’re less frequent and not that intense. It is still a decent time to visit Indonesia.
Indonesia’s geographical location is such that the equator passes through it. As a result, it doesn’t actually have a winter season. It is generally sunny and tropical throughout the year.
How to Reach
Flights are available on a frequent basis to fly from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi to various spots across Indonesia, such as the capital of Jakarta, Denpasar on the island of Bali or even Medan or Yogyakarta. The flight durations range from 9 to 20 hours in total and tend to have a single stop at least, most of them coming either in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, before moving forward to your chosen destination.
There is no railway system connecting any location in India to Indonesia, so railways are not an option.
It is technically possible to travel to Indonesia from Delhi by road, but it is frankly a tall order. The distance to be covered comes up to around 9000 km in total and may take up to 10 days or even more depending on how many hours of the day you choose to drive. You would also be passing through various other countries before making your ways to Indonesia, such as Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia.

Faqs for indonesia, how big is indonesia.
Indonesia spans an area of 1904569 sq km in total. Around 93000 sq km of this area is exclusively occupied by inland seas, which are essentially shallow seas that cover an area that is more central to the landmass itself. They take the form of straits, bays, etc.
What are some must-try food items in Indonesia?
Indonesian cuisine is positively delectable. Some of the most popular dishes are Indonesian Satay, a meat skewer of sorts, an Indonesian version of fried rice, as well as Siomay, which is an Indonesian variant of the momo. Indonesia has its own spin on a pancake as well, with the Sweet Martabak. A dish named Gado Gado is one that all vegetarians who travel to Indonesia should be on the lookout for.
Which are some of Indonesia’s most important festivals?
There are many indigenous tribes in Indonesia, a lot of whom have their own unique celebrations. Rambu Solo is one such celebration among the Toraja people, a ceremony that is intended to help the spirits of the dead pass into the afterlife. The Baliem Valley Festival, Bau Nyale Fishing Festival and our very own Deepavali are also celebrated here.

Make sure you have some of the smaller details ironed out before you set off for Indonesia.
- Being closer to the equator, Indonesia’s sun will be harsher and more direct than Delhi’s, so carry sunscreen.
- When shopping, the vendors may often skip the last three digits of the actual price of an item, i.e., something that costs “30 IDR” is actually priced at 30000 IDR. Be wary of this.
- Renting two-wheelers to move around is a convenient and cheap option to move around town.
Now that you’re all prepared, your trip with an Indonesia tour package from Delhi is good to go.

What people love about 10 Day Indonesia Tours
Bali has been a dream of mine for years and this tour did not disappoint! Got to do a bit of everything while still having some downtime. Our tour guide Ali did an incredible job of guiding us around and making it such a fun and unique experience. I’d recommend this tour over and over again!
The tour guide were all very helpful, good and go out of their way to make our journey fun n amazing. I will book all my trips n recommend to all my friends your companies excellent service. Iam very please to the iteniraries n the hotel we stayed in. Thank u very much to make my holiday more enjoyable ?
Overall the trip was great. Yustus was very nice and attentive to all our needs..and fun too. We managed to visit most of the famous sites and some less known but beautiful spots too. Although some days were abit rusheda and that's not just because of traffic but because there should be more time management. Watersports were quite expensive and we spent too much time there and not having so much time for lunch and swim in the next beach and the club later. We spent too much time at the monkey forest and eventually we had to skip Tanah Lot viewpoint(agreed by all group to be able to have enough time at Canngu). I only agreed as all the others preferred so and the only solution I was given was to be driven up and down from the beach but that meant I would have spent all the time in the bus. Maybe also you should get a bus with a microphone as from the back it was not always easy to hear the guide speaking clearly due to noisesand sometimes chatter between the group!. Kuta accomodation was good. Gili T was OK could have been slightly better. On Nusa Penida it was quite away from anything else, good only for one night. And it was very basic especially the breakfast they didn't have a basic fruit juice..I ended up having just water since I don't drink tea/coffee. Not even a choice for drinks..just beer and sprite. Luckily we managed to organise with Yustus help to go out to a club on New year's eve to eat and enjoy the festivities, if not we would have died of boredom at the hotel. But yes overall it was a nice experience, met some lovely people we had a great time... Thankyou .

Top 5 airlines flying to Indonesia
My experience with Scoot is very good. Will have no issue flying with Scoot again.
Great to have actual hot tastey meal on a flight. Well done
Excellent meal served with real utensils, cardboard served hot meals instead of plastic utensils and plastic covers. Quick service, friendly and accommodating stewards.
All in all the flight was good. Love the fact that for airline food it was piping hot
I commend the flight attendants on our SFO-SIN flight who went above and beyond to provide us with extra snacks and food. This type of service makes the flight experience personal and awesome.
Awesome as always. I wish though the cabin for premium was upgraded.... Same old sane old :(
It was a great flight Food was great Crew was spectacular
In general good, but the machine seems to be long in operation and some functions were restricted as e. g. Adjusting of seats.
It seems paying premium economy does not make difference with economy. No priority boarding, not worthy paying extra$$$ for premium economy.
Every thing was fine. Some ild classical Hindi movies should be add
Service / food has to be much better. Staff were not very attentive to requests. Requested for a second serve of coke and got a weird look back from the host! Was also told they don’t have extra water bottles when I requested for one before sleep! Dinner time food was very minimum and average.
chaos boarding. Crew in business class seemed short staffed and lacking in attention to details initially, but did improve during flight.
The cabin was quite noisy as there were lots of children travelling for the school holidays. Found the selection of movies limited.
Delayed, not enough information. Had to ask for refreshments, crew could have been more proactive
The best so far coz this time it was all male steward on the economy cluster. They were polite, efficient & genuinely courteous. They do not judge you when you ask for more food & peanuts.
Delayed for 45 minutes. Don't know what's the issue. Other than that, food was not to my satisfaction. However it's okay.
My first course flight (Aor-Kul) was cancelled in the morning, and they asked me to board the night flight hence I need to transit overnight for the 2nd flight (Kul-Myy) that supposed to be on the same day. The overnight stay was not provided, (I'm traveling with my spouse, a daughter (5 y.o.) and an infant (2 months old). Hence I booked Sama Sama Hotel at my own expense (fortunately using my enrich miles points). Other than this issue, all services is good.
My experience with the flight was okay. My experience checking in was absolutely terrible. I was told I needed to change my e-ticket number to check in because I missed my flight in PDX. Even when shown the itinerary, they didn't budge and sent me to KLM across the airport. KLM wasn't open until 8pm and my flight was at 7:30pm. Nobody made accommodations in any way to get me to KUL. To add insult to injury, they rescheduled my flight to the very next day, creating a very long layover and did not offer any hotel stay. After this, even worse, I found out later they delayed the first 7:30pm flight to 9:10pm. Meaning, I could have still boarded but they refused to even try to get me on the plane. As a result, I missed a day of work and lost pay for the day. Also, when I went to get my luggage, it wasn't there. It was STILL in Singapore. They had from 5:30pm to 5am to get my luggage onto the plane and they still couldn't get that right. This is the worst experience I've had flying anywhere in the past decade I've been travelling.
Orange juice change to mineral water . Should keep the orange juice.
Entertainment system was too old, crew were unorganised during boarding
The flight delay... but bus from the airport be on time
Bad experience, delay like no tomorrow. Original schedule departure time at 9:30pm, delayed until 12:05am only depart.
Great. Very satisfied with a direct flight from Penang back to HK international. Stewards in the cabin were very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to fly with Air Asia in the future.
Second time flying on AirAsia. They’re fine for a low cost carrier, so I don’t expect high level hospitality. They could have informed us that the flight would be delayed even if by a few minutes, instead of the passengers asking the gate agents why we’re not boarding 8 minutes before takeoff. And given some of the passengers on this particular flight were problematic, the crew did great handling such people.
Meh, it was AirAsia. It's not about a quality.
Great flight. Achieve my objecttive of travelling with less hassle .
They didn't have a single blanket for hire for a long haul overnight flight. This wasn't good enough even for a budget airline
Kayak shares with you the best price! and in my case it was Air Asia flight. Air Asia flight was on time, the boarding was seamless with FACES technology at KLIA2 and the pilot made a great smooth landing upon arrival. Excellent trip!
I left the city late and fortunately the flight was also delayed 50mins
Air Asia’s standard has dropped tremendously post pandemic. The whole organisation feels ‘soul-less’
WiFi didn’t work on both sectors so made killing time harder - planes clean modern and good flight crew - would do again if WiFi works
6hrs fly they dont give you a glass of water from seoul to singapore need to buy drink and food plus they charge for bag on international fly is always Free 1 bag from seoul to singapore is Not a local fly you are traveling true asia same story from singapore to Bali no water drink after payment for bag drink cost more the regular airline Well never use this company again we use regular company like Delta korea japan China and even scoot parent company Singapore Air
We had 2 attempts to land at Singapore Changing during a thunderstorm. Everything was delayed by 1 hour plus.
Boarding was not accordingly after front seat, bmf then back seat. This delayed for at least 40mins or more. The staff at Jakarta can do better. Is chaos at the entry to board the plane. This tarnished Scoot reputation when everyone was talking about it.
The crew was not customer oriented at all, even confrontational . The aircraft needs more attention to detail as far as comfort, and the 1 hour sitting at the gate with no air is inexcusable
We flew on the 787 Dreamliner direct to main gate at KLIA2, quick entry via eGate and on the train 41mins after touchdown. Go well SCOOT
Was on scoot plus. The only good thing about the flight was the spacious seats. Tables and armrests were extremely dirty Food: bad Entertainment: non existent Wifi: unable to connect, then was painfully slow that we couldn’t even send messages Good thing we had a night flight, so we just slept throughout.
Not clear why boarding passes could only be issued at the counter and not through the kiosk. I had already check-in on the web, so waiting to obtain a boarding pass 1.5 hours before the actual flight defeats the purpose of early web check-in.
no charging point. food offering is limited and very much on the budget line. Overall is not satisfying for such a price and duration of flight.
We were delayed, but there was never any update given. Everyone was standing at the gate as boarding was supposed to commence at 13:10 for a 13:55 flight. We didn't actually start getting on the shuttles to the plane, until after 14:00. No updates, no information given at all.
Paid for seats near the window but given seats right at the back, near the toilets. This location was so noisy with the blasts from the aircraft engines blowing beside. Not a nice one 😞.
Flight was delayed 2 hours, which seems regular with this airline. Aircrew were avarage, friendly but robotic. At check in I asked for a spare seat. Got some stupid response about loading capacity (it was 85% full!) Then passengers behind jumped up and moved to vacant exit rows, they obviously didn't pay for. Waited over 20+ minutes to disembark, with ground staff trying to squash all passengers onto 1 bus. Causing even more delays. Unsafe and stupid! But this is a problem at Saigon airport. Overall a very average experience!
In experience we didn't even get water unless it was paid for. Even Bamboo Airlines provided free water. The flight was cold with no blanket being provided. The flight attendants were not responsive in keeping the passengers under control. I complained about fellow passengers playing loud music several times before one of the flight attendants to action. I will not recommend flying with Vietjet unless things improve.
I have few bad reviews about VietJet, but my experience was really good and it worth every penny..
Not even free water. NO legroom. Narrow seats. Not enough room to even hold a book at reading distance in front of you.
No food? No movies? No water?? On an international flight, really???
No water or snacks. Crew did not give us arrival cards. There was no need for more than 1 flight attendant as they did not do anything
I got to the airport and flight was cancelled without notice
Some chair in the flight should be maintained, but I think they may not have time to check every seats, since it is high demand in this period.
Our experience was the worst. Over 2 days flight was changed and delayed 4 times. Not impressed

Also, the weather does not remain the same in all of the islands so you should also keep in mind your travel location when finalising your trip.
The dry season in the western and central regions of Indonesia starts in May and ends in September, on the other hand, the eastern islands hit the peak in March and continue till May.
As for the monsoon, the western/central islands experience it between October and April. The rainy season spans from November to March in the eastern islands.
Month by Month Guide to Visit Indonesia
Most of the region in Indonesia remains wet in January, however, the eastern part experiences a good amount of sunlight.
Things to Do
January is the best month to visit Wamena Indonesia, along with central Molucca Islands, and Raja Ampat, because, in these regions, the rain lasts only a few hours a day and the beaches remain crowd-free.
If you love rain, visiting these regions is the ideal way to make the best out of your trip to Indonesia.
While the weather remains quite the same as January in the whole of Indonesia, Sumatra (a large Indonesian island in the south of the Malay Peninsula) does not receive that much rain in February.
Visit Bali- The first 10 days of February pass with the celebration of the Galungan festival. This is one of the best times to travel to Bali, Indonesia.

Visit Sumatra, West Papua, and Moluccas Island- After the first half of February, the temperature ranges around 26-27 °Celsius in these regions. These places are ideal for spotting orangutans.

Here is a short guide to help you know which is the best season to visit Indonesia.

The months in which Indonesia receives a large amount of tourists are during July and August. This time frame is considered the country’s high season, due to which, the travel costs rise considerably.
Therefore, if you are considering travelling to Indonesia in these two months, it is suggested that you plan everything in advance so as not to be left without accommodation and a boring trip.

Visiting Indonesia in the low season will allow you to:
Get advantage of cheaper accommodation.

How Much Does a World Tour Package Cost for Indians
Embarking on a world tour is a dream for many Indian travellers, offering the promise of diverse cultures, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable adventures. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, the world beckons with opportunities for exploration and discovery. However, financing such an ambitious journey can be daunting. This is where a personal loan from Bajaj Finance steps in, providing a convenient solution to manage travel expenses and turn your dream of a world tour into reality.
Cost of a world tour package for Indians
