Tata Safari.ev found testing in India: What to expect?
Tata Motors 's Safari.eV, a three-row variant of the Harrier.eV, has been spied during its testing phase. Despite heavy camouflage indicating it's still in development, the design language seems to closely resemble its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. The test model displayed features like a front grille, connected LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and headlight housing, identical to the ICE version.
It will run on 19-inch wheels
The alloy wheels of the Safari.ev, while slightly different in design, are expected to maintain the same 19-inch size as its ICE version. The rear end is also likely to remain unchanged, featuring identical connected LED taillights. Despite being an electric vehicle, the exterior design elements of the Safari.ev seem to closely follow those of its ICE counterpart.
A look at the interiors
Tata Safari.ev's interior is also predicted to resemble its ICE version, including a dashboard layout and a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated 'Tata' logo. The electric SUV will feature a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment panel, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and a panoramic sunroof. For safety, it is expected to get up to seven airbags, a 360-degree-view camera with a blind-spot monitor, electronic stability control (ESC), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
What about its powertrain?
Tata has not yet disclosed the battery pack and motor specifications for the Safari.ev. However, it is anticipated to offer a claimed range of roughly 500km. The electric SUV will be built on Tata's new Acti.EV platform, which also supports the recently launched Punch.ev. Given that Tata confirmed an all-wheel-drive option for the Harrier.ev, there is speculation that the Safari.ev may offer the same.

Tata Motors is planning to set foot in India’s seven-seater EV SUV market with the launch of Safari EV (an extended version of the Harrier EV). This EV will be built on Tata’s new Acti.EV platform, is set to revolutionize the electric SUV segment with its expected driving range of around 500 km on a single charge.

The test mule of the Safari EV was spotted recently. Even though the test car was highly camouflaged, it could be made out that it features a design similar to that of its ICE-powered counterpart but without the exhaust pipe.
The Safari EV’s test mule was also spotted earlier. Now, let’s start with the details of this upcoming EV. In terms of design, the overall look remains the same as the ICE Safari. Similar to the regular version, the Safari EV features connected LED DRLs, slightly redesigned 19-inch alloy wheels, and connected LED taillights.
The recent spy shots do not reveal the interior of the SUV, but the inside of the Safari EV is expected to offer a cabin layout similar to that of the standard Safari. The Safari EV will feature a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a similar climate control system.
Also, premium features such as a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated seats, JBL sound system, rear sunshades, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, and a panoramic sunroof will be offered. The Safari EV will offer advanced features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing the SUV to charge other devices or EVs.
Safety remains a top priority, with the Safari EV equipped with seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Other features, such as a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, reverse parking sensors, traction control, hill descent control and many more, will also be available.
No details regarding the powertrain specifications are yet available. However, some reports suggest it could offer a 60 kWh battery pack that will deliver a driving range of up to 500 km. If this happens, it will set a new benchmark in the Indian EV segment. Additionally, the Safari EV could be offered in both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants.
The Tata Safari EV is anticipated to launch in early 2025 with a starting price of around Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will compete with rivals such as the MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, and upcoming offerings such as the Hyundai Creta EV and Maruti eVX.
The Safari EV, along with the upcoming Harrier EV, will join Tata’s existing lineup of EVs, which includes Nexon EV, Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Punch EV. In addition to this, Tata has plans to launch Altroz EV, Sierra EV, and the Curvv EV in the near future. With these new launches, Tata aims to capture a fair share of the Indian EV market by providing buyers with an EV in every segment.

New spy shots of 2024 Tata Safari: ADAS, EV trim, features
The 2024 safari is expected to offer minor updates in the cabin as tata motors recently introduced a range of new features, including adas..
Tata Motors has been busy updating its portfolio and introducing new limited editions, but some of the vehicles like the Safari will soon be receiving a mid-life facelift. Recently, the heavily camouflaged three-row SUV was caught testing in Bengaluru. With the Safari sales figures falling behind its rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and even the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata is working overtime testing the 2024 version, which is expected to be launched next year.
2024 Tata Safari: Exteriors
Going by the latest images of the Safari test mule, the SUV will get a new horizontal designed front grille instead of the arrow shaped motifs which the current version gets. Tata sticks to the split headlight style, but the 2024 avatar will sport vertically shaped design replacing the angular ones. The honeycomb air dam is also replaced with horizontal slats.

From the side profile, the new Safari looks identical though it sports new all-black alloy wheels. The rear comes across pretty much the same as the current model but it’s expected to get new tail light cluster.
2024 Tata Safari: Interiors and features
The 2024 Safari is expected to offer minor updates in the cabin as Tata Motors recently introduced a range of new features. The most important equipment that the current Safari comes with is Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Apart from this the Tata flagship gets front and second row ventilated seats, 6-way powered driver seat with lumbar support, a panoramic roof, 360-degree camera and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP).
2024 Tata Safari: Specifications
There have been reports that Tata Motors might introduce a petrol powertrain, but as of now, there is no confirmation from the automobile manufacturer. The Safari will continue to offer the 168bhp 2-litre diesel with 350Nm of torque. It will be offered in both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic torque converter transmissions.

Pick from popular cities, auto expo 2023: tata harrier, safari evs teased.
The Harrier and Safari EVs will be among the most surprising new displays at the upcoming motor show.

Tata Motors has teased three new EVs that will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023. Although the teaser reveals very little, the silhouette of the models seen in the video suggests that they will be electric versions of the Tiago hatchback , and Harrier and Safari SUVs . Along with this, Tata will also showcase the Curvv and Avinya electric concepts at the motor show.
- No technical details of Harrier and Safari EV are known currently
- Tata Tiago EV could see a new special edition
- Tata to also showcase Punch CNG
Electric Tata Harrier, Safari SUVs at Auto Expo 2023
Likely to debut in concept guise, an electric version of the Harrier and Safari SUVs certainly come across as a surprise. While Tata already has a slew of EVs up its sleeve, the Harrier and Safari EV will be the company’s largest EVs yet, and will therefore require larger batteries than its existing range of EVs.

No technical details are known currently, so it remains to be seen if it’s a direct ICE to electric conversion, or if it's based on Tata’s Gen 2 electric architecture that uses ICE platform but is heavily re-engineered for electrification. Tata Motors has previously confirmed that the Tiago EV was the last direct ICE-to-electric conversion (Gen 1 architecture), so this suggests that the Harrier and Safari EVs could indeed be based on the Gen 2 platform.
In that case, they will be heavily modified from their ICE counterparts to feature a flat floor with the deletion of the transmission tunnel. It will also see modifications to its fuel tank area, will be made lighter and more energy efficient. The teasers also reveal a silhouette that’s pretty identical to the ICE counterparts, although the production-spec models will likely come with more EV-specific design cues. The concepts could also preview the long-awaited facelifts on both SUVs.
Importantly, the Harrier and Safari EVs will be branded under Tata’s newly constituted ‘.EV’ brand . Still, a lot of this is speculation at the moment until the company official takes the wraps off the upcoming electric SUVs at the motor show.
Tata Tiago EV also teased
What’s also interesting is that Tata has once again teased the Tiago EV despite having completely revealed it a few months ago. Tata has even revealed prices for the Tiago EV , and is slated for deliveries commencing this month.
Tata could then showcase a special edition version of the Tiago EV, perhaps an NRG EV edition or even a Dark Edition that will mostly be limited to cosmetic updates. This, too, is quite speculative till Tata officially reveals the electric hatchback at the motor show.
Tata Punch CNG to be showcased
A CNG version of the Punch has long been in the works, and has also been spied testing several times on our roads. Tata will finally take this opportunity at the Auto Expo to officially introduce the Punch CNG. Like Tata’s existing iCNG range, the Punch will use the same 1.2-litre engine, likely producing 73hp and 95Nm. It will also likely be offered on the higher-spec trim which means it will be reasonably well equipped.
Apart from this, Tata will also have the Curvv and the Avinya Concepts on display for the public for the first time. The former is based on Gen 2 of the Nexon EV platform, while the latter is underpinned by a grounds-up EV skateboard architecture.

Tata Safari Electric Testing Begins; To Share Features With Harrier EV
Tata Motors is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio with a range of new models including SUVs and EVs. The carmaker will also give generation change and mid-life updates to its existing models. Meanwhile, the company is gearing up to launch the updated versions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. While their official launch date is yet to be announced, the models are likely to go on sale in coming months. What is more interesting is that the automaker has begun testing the Tata Safari electric SUV that’s recently caught on camera with heavy camouflage.
The spotted test mule of the Tata Safari EV seems to share some of its design elements with the Tata Harrier EV that made its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo. The latter is based on Tata’s Gen 2 (Sigma) architecture that’s essentially the heavily re-engineered version of the OmegaArch platform. Major modifications have been made to its fuel tank area and flat floor, thus making it lighter and more energy efficient than the existing Omega platform.
Tata had revealed that the Harrier EV will come with AWD system along with the vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capacities. It’s expected to feature a battery capacity of around 60kWh and deliver a range of around 400-500km (in real world conditions). The electric SUV concept carries a new blanked-off grille, tweaked front bumper, blackened housing around headlamp clusters, revised central air intake with a blanked-off panel and new angular creases.
Some of its other key highlights were ‘EV’ badges on the fenders and flush door handles, revised taillamp assembly with a new LED light bar running the width of the tailgate. The Tata Safari electric SUV is likely to share all aforementioned features with the Harrier EV.
Tata confirmed that the production-ready electric Harrier will witness a market launch sometime next year. The Safari EV is likely to come with its younger EV sibling.

Tata Motors plans to have a total of 10 electric offerings in the Indian market by 2025. The carmaker already has a slew of products in the electric vehicle range, and this is set to expand in the coming months.
The current EV portfolio of Tata Motors includes the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, and the X-Pres T. This will be followed by the next launch scheduled to take place during the festive season this year, which is the Curvv EV. This coupe-SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX , Honda Elevate EV, and Toyota’s version of the eVX.
The next two cars in line will be the Tata Harrier EV and the Safari EV, out of which the latter was showcased as a concept during the 2023 Auto Expo. Both cars are expected to be launched in the current financial year and will be followed by the Sierra EV and the Avinya in CY25. Notably, as a strategy going ahead, Tata Motors will introduce EV derivatives followed by their ICE counterparts, starting with the Curvv EV.

Tata Motors to expand lineup with 10 EVs by 2025; Curvv, Harrier EVs planned
- Tata Motors has showcased several concepts over the last few years and we expect most of these models to make it to production by the end of next year.
Tata Motors is all set to expand its electric vehicle portfolio with 10 models by 2025. The automaker announced the development in its Integrated Annual Report for FY2023-24. The company has already showcased several concepts over the last few years and we expect most of these models to make it to production by the end of next year.
Some of the electric vehicles confirmed by Tata Motors include the Curvv EV set to arrive later this year. This will be followed up with the Harrier EV and Safari EV , which are likely to arrive by the first half of 2025. The automaker will also introduce the Sierra EV based on the concept showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, while models based on the Avinya are also likely to arrive next year.

Moreover, you can expect Tata Motors to expect its existing EV range with cosmetic, feature and mechanical updates. The Tata Tiago EV is due for an upgrade, while the Tigor, Nexon and Punch EVs are also likely to get updates for the new model year. The Tata X-Pres T, which is available for commercial fleets, should also receive subtle upgrades. Tata Motors is retailing EVs through separate standalone dealerships and one can expect the showrooms to get crowded in the coming months.
That said, the automaker also has offerings lined up with internal combustion engines. Tata will bring the ICE version of the Curvv in 2025, previewed at the 2023 Auto Expo, while expect to see the petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari joining the lineup soon. The company is on an EV offensive but will also pay attention to its ICE-powered portfolio, which continues to bring a major chunk of volumes for the brand.
Not just Tata Motors but its sister brands Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will also unveil its new electric projects in 2025. The first-ever Range Rover EV is scheduled for a global debut later this year followed by the commencement of sales next year, while the first EV under a revitalised Jaguar will also arrive in 2025. The new Jaguar EV is expected to be a four-door GT, which will be followed by an electric SUV and sedan as part of the brand's ‘Reimagine’ strategy.

April 2024: Top Selling Tata Cars
With over seven years of unparalleled legacy, Tata Motors is one of India’s oldest and most iconic automotive manufacturers in India, that has played a pivotal role in the evolution of the Indian automotive industry. And with a brand revamp intelligently incorporated in 2016, the carmaker has also managed to reclaim its status of being one of India’s best-selling car manufacturers. Adapting to constantly changing market trends, Tata has time and again proved its mettle, with April being no exception. Despite the month being a rather dull one in terms of overall dispatches and consumer excitement, Tata Motors managed to grab an aggregate market share of 14.2%, to finish as the third best-selling car brand of the month , with a year-on-year growth of about 1.9%. While the Tata Punch emerged as the ultimate winner, ever-popular products like the Nexon, Tiago and Altroz shined as well. Here are the best-selling Tata cars of the month.
Table of Contents
Tata altroz, tata safari, tata harrier.
Considering that the Tata Punch was launched in 2021, the mammoth success of the compact SUV is a feat that is rarely matched by any other car, especially in such a short period. Redefining several sales milestones, the popularity of the Punch is at its peak with the compact SUV already managing to sell over 3.1 lakh units since its launch. The month of April proved to be another brilliant run for the Punch where it sold a massive 19,158 units , emerging as the best-selling compact SUV of the month in addition to being the best-selling car of the month as well. With an impressive 75% year-on-year growth, the Tata Punch also managed to sell over 15,000 units for the fourth time in a row. And now with the Tata Punch EV in place, the Punch badge as a whole has become a never-ending success story.
What makes the Punch an unmatched success is its impeccable safety and overall affordability coupled with a compact bodyline and spacious interior. Talking of the engines, the Punch comes powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine, with a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT onboard. In its EV avatar, the Punch is equipped with either a 25 kWh or a bigger 35 kWh battery pack. While the 25 kWh battery offers an estimated range of 315 km, the larger 35 kWh battery on the other hand offers a range of 421 km. Another great reason to bring home the Punch is the SUV’s perfect 5-star safety.
An undisputed leader of its segment, the Tata Nexon was and continues to be one of India’s most iconic SUVs. Month after month the Nexon has proved to be Tata’s hero product and rightly so. And with the launch of the Nexon’s latest facelift , the SUV has reached new horizons of popularity. Offering superb reliability, best-in-class safety and impressive practicality, the Tata Nexon reported healthy sales figures, managing to sell 11,168 units , despite a disheartening 26% decline in terms of year-on-year performance. With this, the Tata Nexon finished as the second best-selling Tata car of the month in addition to being the fourth best-selling compact SUV of the month. Boasting a perfect 5-star safety rating, the Nexon is one of the few cars in India offered across petrol, diesel and even electric powertrains.
Equipped with either a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol or a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine, the Nexon Facelift comes mated to either a six-speed manual/AMT. The mileage figure onboard the Nexon facelift is now slightly better than its predecessor at 24.08 km/l for diesel and up to 17.44 km/l for petrol, making the Nexon a practical choice among the competitors. In its updated electric avatar, the Nexon EV comes with either a 30.2 kWh battery pack that now returns a range of 325 km/charge and a larger 40.5 kWh pack that returns a range of 465 km/charge.
The hatchback that fueled Tata’s market revival in 2016, the Tata Tiago has since been one of Tata’s best-selling cars. With a muscular yet elegant design, great features and a 4-star safety rating, the Tiago is one of the safest hatchbacks out there. What makes the Tiago a raging success is the fact that it is the only hatchback that is available with petrol, CNG and even an all-electric powertrain. Selling a total of 6,796 units in April 2024, the Tiago, despite registering a big 20% decline in terms of year-on-year performance, still emerged as the third-best-selling Tata car and the fourth-best-selling hatchback of the month.
Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT, the Tiago can also be had in CNG trims with a sole 5-speed manual. Mileage figures are as high as 19 km/l for petrol and 26.49 km/kg for CNG. The Tiago is also available in an all-electric avatar with two battery pack options returning a range of 250 to 315 km. However, considering the declining year-on-year growth of the hatchback, we feel that another facelift or an upgrade can work wonders for the Tiago, especially considering the launch of the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift , which is one of Tiago’s biggest competitor.
The gold standard of premium hatchbacks , the Tata Altroz created quite a buzz when it was first launched in the market in 2020. Since then, the Altroz has shined as a capable option in the premium hatchback segment that offers a host of top-notch features, a spacious cabin, great comfort, reliable build quality and perfect 5-star safety ratings. Selling a total of 5,148 units in April 2024, the Altroz clocked in a good 11% growth in terms of year-on-year performance becoming the fourth best-selling Tata car of the month in addition to being the sixth best-selling hatchback. What works in favour of the Altroz is its exceptional ride and handling, which is complemented by the options of DCT automatic transmission and turbocharged engines; a combination that is rather exciting for the price. Available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel unit, the Altroz comes mated to a 5-speed manual across all engines along with a 6-speed DCT automatic for the naturally aspirated petrol engine. CNG trims are also up for grabs with the 1.2-litre unit mated to a sole 5-speed manual. Mileage figures go as high as 19.33 km/l for petrol and 23.60 km/l for diesel, making the Altroz a perfect pick.
A name that boasts a legacy of over 24 years, the Tata Safari is a cult in itself. Pitched as a modern-day SUV that caters to the entire family, the Safari stands tall as a comfortable, spacious and exciting product, that was in dire need of an upgrade, which was duly catered to by Tata with the launch of the new Safari Facelift . Transforming the Safari into a much more contemporary and futuristic package, the Safari Facelift has helped the SUV gain traction. Selling 1,716 units in April, the Safari despite reporting a 15% decline in year-on-year performance, still became the seventh best-selling Tata car of the month, with the future looking brighter than ever before.
Sharing its powertrain with the Harrier, the Safari also comes with a 2-litre diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic. The new and updated Safari facelift now brings in an updated infotainment system and Level-2 ADAS on board to spice up the competition. Mileage on offer is up to 16.14 km/l on the manual transmission.
Completing its 1.2 lakh sales milestone, the tough SUV from Tata comes as a great option for those looking to bring home a premium, spacious, safe and reliable SUV that has a lot to offer up its sleeve. And now that the Tata Harrier facelift is well in place, the SUV’s popularity has picked up pace thanks to the facelift’s contemporary cosmetic changes that are well complemented with relevant feature add-ons. With the all-new Harrier working its magic, the SUV managed to sell a decent 1,746 units in April 2024, slowly gaining traction in a bid to rise through the ranks. All that helped the Harrier become the sixth best-selling Tata car of the month, albeit with a 37% decline in terms of year-on-year figures. Powered by a sole 2-litre diesel engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter, the new Tata Harrier brings in an updated infotainment system, 360-degree camera, digital instrument cluster and Level-2 ADAS on board to spice up the competition. Mileage on offer is up to 16.35 km/l on the manual transmission. Overall, the Harrier now comes as a great pick, with ample features to take on competitors.
One of India’s best-selling sedans, the Tata Tigor has held on to its popularity quite well. Being Tata’s only sedan, the Tigor is equipped with nothing but the best, offering sporty looks, premium features, spacious interiors and impeccable 4-star safety. Attracting 2,153 happy customers in April 2024, the Tigor despite registering a saddening fall of 32% in terms of year-on-year growth, still managed to carry on the brand’s success story, becoming the fifth best-selling Tata car of the month. However, considering the Dzire ’s unbeatable popularity, the Tigor is in dire need of an upgrade that can help the sedan become more attractive and appealing.
Powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a five-speed AMT on offer, the Tigor returns a superb mileage figure that goes as high as 19.6 km/l on the automatic transmission, with even CNG trims to choose from. Much like the Nexon and the Tiago, the Tigor is also available in an all-electric avatar that offers a range of 315 km.

Tata Motors to expand lineup with 10 EVs by 2025; Curvv, Harrier EVs planned
