Grammy-award-winning music trendsetter and icon SZA will continue her touring trek with four shows at The O2 this June. She’ll be joined by British pop sensation RAYE.

The 2023 tour follows SZA’s hugely successful sophomore album, SOS, which was released in December and earned the superstar the record for the largest streaming week for an R&B album in the United States. The album also claimed ten non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart - the most among albums by women in seven years. During the first run of the S.O.S. Tour earlier this year, SZA gave unforgettable performances night after night. The platinum recording artist performed  classics like “Love Galore” and “The Weekend” in addition to newer mega-hits such as “Kill Bill,” and “Shirt.” Fans also got to experience special performances from a number of surprise guests including Phoebe Bridgers, Cardi B, Summer Walker, Lizzo and more.

The S.O.S. Tour marked SZA’s first-ever arena tour and earned the superstar endless praise, with Rolling Stone noting that “SZA lives up to all the anticipation” on opening night. The New York Times called her Madison Square Garden headlining debut “vigorous, confident, theatrical and intimate — the sort of show that manages the rare trick of feeling both vibrantly communicative and also protectively insular,” while Billboard proclaimed that the performance “delivered a message that she’s truly made a next-level step in her career.”

Born in St. Louis and raised in Maplewood, NJ, genre-defying, and GRAMMY Award winning recording artist SZA released her major label debut album Ctrl (TDE/RCA) in 2017. Revered for its raw and honest lyrics, it landed at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart, No. 2 on the R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart and No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, according to Nielsen Music. The now RIAA-certified 3xPlatinum album received five Grammy nominations in 2018 and more than half the songs on Ctrl are currently certified multi-Platinum and Gold. Ctrl remains on the Billboard 200 chart since its release in 2017 and holds the record for the longest run for any Black female artist’s debut album. In 2022 alone it sold over 600,000 units and is the 10th best-selling female album this year in the country and 50th best-selling album in 2022 overall.

To close out the trying year of 2020, SZA gifted fans on Christmas Day with the hopeful track “Good Days.” Grammy-nominated for Best R&B Song, the single quickly became SZA’s greatest gaining solo single release, peaking at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and marking her first time in the chart’s top ten as the main artist. December 2021, SZA scored her second lead artist top 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with the official release of “I Hate U,” which debuted at #7. The song also entered at #1 on both Spotify and Apple Music US charts and broke the record for the most streamed R&B song by a female artist on Apple Music in its first week.  Fan favorite “Shirt” has garnered over 60 million streams globally since its release in October.

On December 9, 2022, SZA released her long-awaited sophomore album SOS.  Instantly and universally met with acclaim, SOS debuted and claimed ten non-consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200, the longest run for an album by a woman in seven years. Standout track “Kill Bill” is RIAA-certified 3x Platinum and earned the #1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart and several Apple Music and Spotify charts globally. Currently RIAA-certified 2x Platinum, SOS includes features by Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers and Ol’ Dirty Bastard; with production by Ctrl hitmaking collaborators ThankGod4Cody and Carter Lang, alongside Jeff Bhasker, Rob Bisel, Benny Blanco, Kenny “Babyface'' Edmonds, Emile Haynie, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, Jay Versace, and more.

To this day, SZA continues to set the standard on creativity and songwriting, while shattering records with over 10 billion streams worldwide across all platforms. SZA has won various awards since the release of Ctrl including a 2022 GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat, Billboard Music Awards’ Top R&B Female Artist, BET Awards’ Best New Artist, BET Soul Train Awards’ Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and Best New Artist, MTV Video Music Awards’ Best Visual Effects for the “All The Stars'' with Kendrick Lamar, and NAACP Image Awards’ Outstanding New Artist. In 2019, she won NAACP Image Awards’ Outstanding Duo or Group for “All The Stars” with Kendrick Lamar and Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation for the Black Panther Soundtrack. SZA also received Billboard’s 2019 Women in Music Rule Breaker award. More recently, SZA was crowned the 2023 Woman of the Year at the Billboard’s Women in Music Awards and won iHeart Radio Music Awards for R&B Artist of the Year and R&B Song of the Year for “I Hate U.”

What Songs Should You Expect SZA To Play On Her ‘SOS Tour?’

Flisadam Pointer

SZA is an undeniable force in music. As her sophomore album, SOS , continues to break records on the music charts or serve as the inspiration behind a few tongue-in-cheek TikToks by other famous musicians , fans can’t get enough of the project. Now, with the launch of the album’s supporting tour, concertgoers are beginning to wonder what they should expect as the “ Kill Bill ” singer makes her way to their city.

Yesterday (February 21), after opening the North American wing in Columbus, Ohio, at The Jerome Schottenstein Center, the internet is buzzing about which tracks of the songwriter’s discography made the cut. According to setlist.fm , SZA has a melting pot of her solo music featured during her show. In addition to her new music, fan-favorite tracks from her debut album Ctrl , the Black Panther soundtrack, and her older EPs, as well as songs from artists she’s inspired by.

View the setlist below, but don’t hold the singer to it. As the tour progresses, SZA shared on Twitter that nothing is set in stone, writing, “all imma say is the set list will fluctuate. Everything will have its day.”

SZA at AO Arena Manchester – tickets, support act, stage times, and more

The powerhouse US singer-songwriter is performing in Manchester as part of her SOS tour.

Emily Sergeant

SZA is soon set to touch-down on UK soil, and she’s coming to visit us here in Manchester for the first stop on her major tour.

It’s been a good few years since SZA’s hit the road, but 2023 is the year that sees the powerhouse US singer-songwriter – real name Solána Imani Rowe – head out on tour to celebrate her second studio album, SOS , which was released to critical acclaim last December, and shot to the top of the albums chart in America and reached number two here in the UK.

It came five years after the release of her debut album Ctrl , which went on to sell over five million copies worldwide.

As well as selling millions of records, and claiming her first number one single with ‘Kill Bill’ earlier this year, SZA has also scooped up masses of awards – including a Grammy, two MTV VMAs, and two Billboard Music Awards, as well as an Oscar nomination for ‘All The Stars’ with Kendrick Lamar.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by SZA (@sza)

Not only is SZA one of the most respected artists among her peers, and one of the most loved by critics within the music industry, but she also has a loyal fan base supporting her every step of the way, and tens of thousands of those fans will get to see her sing the hits live as she takes to the stage here in Manchester .

Heading to see SZA at the AO Arena ? Here’s everything you need to know.

When is SZA playing in Manchester?

Manchester is just one of three UK cities that SZA has chosen for the European leg of her S.O.S tour – with the singer also set to perform up in the Scottish capital of Glasgow later this week, before performing two night’s at London’s O2 Arena shortly after.

She will take to the stage here in Manchester on Tuesday 13 June.

With the AO Arena having a maximum gig capacity of 21,000, fans in their thousands are expected to travel to our city from far and wide to see SZA in a rare live UK appearance.

Are there any tickets still available?

Given that SZA isn’t known for heading out on tour very often, especially not here in the UK, tickets to see her in Manchester were in pretty high demand when they first went on sale back in April – but now, it does seem like there are some still available if you’re looking to grab yourself one.

At the time of writing, a quick search on Ticketmaster shows both standing and seating tickets available, however they are a little pricer than when they first went on sale – with seated tickets starting at £98, and floor standing at £181.

As always, if you try to buy tickets second-hand, please make sure you’re using a reputable resale site so you don’t get caught out by scammers.

Who is supporting SZA in Manchester?

If getting to see SZA live wasn’t enough, fans who head to the AO Arena a little earlier are also in for a real treat when it comes to the support act, as one of the UK’s fastest-rising music names is also taking to the stage in Manchester.

sza uk tour setlist 2023

Raye – real name Rachael Keen – is a British singer-songwriter who initially rose to prominence after being featured on a number of commercially-successful singles, including ‘By Your Side’, ‘You Don’t Know Me’, ‘Secrets’, and ‘Bed’ – but in 2022, she decided to step out on her own to properly make a name for herself.

The 25-year-old received further recognition as a solo artist after her single ‘Escapism’ reached the top of the UK Singles Chart, and also became her first song to chart in the US.

She released her debut studio album,  My 21st Century Blues , to critical acclaim back in February.

What’s the potential setlist?

We all know artists tend to switch up their setlists from gig to gig and throw in a few surprises here and there, depending on the energy of the crowd and what they’re feeling that night, but it does seem like SZA has roughly been following a particular order of songs since her 2023 European tour began earlier this month.

Here’s a typical SOS tour setlist.

Stage Times

Although everything is subject to change, and it’s always best to keep your eye on the venue’s official messaging on the day of the event to get the latest stage times, the AO Arena has confirmed that doors will be opening at 6pm for the SZA gig on Tuesday 13 June.

Raye is expected to perform from 7:30pm, before a short interval follows, and SZA then takes to the stage any time before 9pm.

Oh, how the months roll over; we can’t believe it’s the end of May and we’re on to yet another list of amazing Manchester artists for you to get stuck into.

We’re sure you’re already on to most of them, you cultured lot, and even if not, that’s what we’re here for.

If you’ve not found yourself on this monthly series before, the concept is pretty simple: every few weeks we spotlight the most exciting Manchester bands and artists we’ve had on our radar recently.

Revolutionary, we know. But seriously, it’s as important as ever that we big up the names coming out of our region, so let’s not waste any more time, shall we?

1. Pale Waves

This time we’re starting off with the wonderful Pale Waves who we recently had the pleasure of seeing at Slam Dunk North over in Leeds.

It’s always good to see Manc bands drawing big crowds on the festival circuit and they certainly did that. These guys have been making a big name for themselves for a few years now and are even set to headline the Neighbourhood all-dayer in the city centre later this year, so it’s no surprise really.

We’ve been lucky enough to catch them live a few times now but if you’ve never heard their mix of pop-punk, alt-rock and often twinkly 80s-influenced indie before, we’d say start with ‘Television Romance’, work your way to ‘There’s a Honey’ and then ‘Jealousy’. That should give you a good broad-strokes idea.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Hoot Leeds (@thehootleeds)

Next up is another fast-rising homegrown talent in Corella , who finally dropped their debut album, Once Upon a Weekend , at the start of this month and we’ve been rinsing it ever since.

Infectious modern indie typified, we’ve been listening to these lads ever since ‘Barcelona Girl’ and they just keep getting better – as typified by them selling out the O2 Ritz on… oh, would you look at that? It’s tonight.

If you didn’t get a ticket for their landmark hometown show, you can also catch them at NBHD 2024 and as for what tracks you should listen to in preparation, the single from 2017 that we’ve already mentioned is where we started, ‘Drifting’ is in our rotation and simply nothing beats ‘Bloom’. A great running track.

Still riding high on the wave from KOKO 🌊 This tour so far has been the best yet and London was something we’ve only ever dreamt of, but you guys made it possible. More of this in a few days Norwich & Manchester! pic.twitter.com/tmefNMpRJM — Corella (@Corellamusic) May 26, 2024

3. Matthew Halsall

A big genre change now and we’re going modern jazz . Make that spiritual jazz, to be specific, and it’s certainly how we feel when we listen to this bloke: in tune with our spirit.

The Manc trumpeter, composer and producer has a real knack for making music that you want to relax, create and cook to, as well as a whole host of other moods. We often find him playing whilst staring out the window with a brew or with our heads back on the sofa as we close our eyes and simply drift away.

As for your jumping-off points, ‘Calder Shapes’ crops up in our playlists most often but ‘Cherry Blossom’ is a lovely lo-fi option on a chilled Sunday afternoon, and his tune ‘Into Forever’ with his record label’s Gondwana Orchestra is another gentle but transportive favourite of ours. We could go on forever.

4. Rosellas

In at number four, we’ve got Rosellas , who’ve steadily worked their way up through various club sets across the UK and North in particular, even playing City Square over at the Etihad Stadium, and are now starting to gain even more traction.

They can turn their hand to most stuff really, be it the all-important catchy hook, a decent indie bouncer or the equally communal feeling soft, acoustic-driven ballad, but there’s something very 90s/early 2000s and quintessentially Manc about their music.

We’ll admit that we can’t quite place what it is beyond perhaps the guitar riffs themselves, but maybe you’ll have better luck than we have so far. Our trio of picks are ‘Slowdance’, ‘Switch Off’ and ‘Damaged’.

Last but not least, we’ve got a band so new to the Manchester music scene that they’ve only got two songs out for you to get stuck into but we’re going to be watching them closely indeed.

Don’t be fooled by the name, they’re a four-piece with hints of everything from Inhaler to Catfish and the Bottlemen, as well as pretty much every current indie band that’s doing anything good in modern indie rock, hence why we think they’re going to pick up momentum quickly.

The best part is, you can get on the bandwagon early by listening to ‘Subconscious’ and ‘C’est La Vie’. Plus, if there’s one thing we know about bands from around here it’s that they graft and we’re going to guess that you can expect another new tune soon enough.

Digga D removed from Parklife 2024 lineup

Another name has been removed from the Parklife 2024 line-up, with Digga D pulled from his Saturday slot on the main stage after pleading guilty to drug charges earlier this week.

The British rapper and drill star was reprimanded for two charges on Tuesday, 28 May, confessing to the supply and importation of cannabis after being arrested during a livestream back in February.

The 23-year-old originally from Notting Hill was taken into custody after a police raid on a property in Lincoln whilst broadcasting on Instagram Live.

Following the verdict, the festival subsequently struck Digga D from the lineup, with news coming less than 24 hours before house DJ and producer Fisher also dropped out due to personal reasons .

sza uk tour setlist 2023

Quietly confirming the news via an Instagram story, the popular Manchester festival has now suffered the loss of two big names from their expected running order.

According to the BBC, while the prosecution didn’t accept the artist’s attempts at a plea, Judge Simon Hirst adjourned the case until 8 July to decide if there is any need for a trial of issue – a.k.a. a Newton hearing (a short hearing where no jury is required).

As well as pleading guilty to smuggling in the case related to 11 July 2023, he also admitted to supplying cannabis between 26 October 2022 and 21 February this year.

You can watch the moment he was picked up by police below:

His Instagram account has since been suspended and neither the artist nor his representation have issued a statement on the situation at this time.

Parklife’s 13th year kicks off next weekend (8-9 June), boasting other massive acts including Aitch, Disclosure, Sugababes, Doja Cat, Kaytranada, Peggy Gou and many more.

With Digga D being one of the biggest names on the drill scene at present, fans of the genre will no doubt be gutted.

NME  last spoke to Amyl & The Sniffers back in 2021,  where Taylor spoke about how ‘Comfort To Me’ addressed the political environment Australians were facing in the summer of 2019.

“‘Capital’ is about how many people are left on the outskirts of society without any help – especially none from fucking Scott Morrison, the absolute tosser,” Taylor told  NME . “We’re all getting taxed to buggery and getting nothing in return. In bushfire season he gave nobody a helping hand.

“I’m not that well educated about politics, but during bushfire season all of the  Indigenous people had advanced backburning set-ups  and the government just ignored that. Also,  Indigenous incarceration rates  are off the fucking Richter scale.”

In a four-star review of ‘Comfort To Me ‘, NME shared: “When the band rally against being pigeonholed on ‘Don’t Fence Me In’, it feels like they’ve finally escaped this fate – sure, they can still pull a decent pint of pub rock, but ‘Comfort To Me’ serves as proof that there’s far more to them than just that.”

In other news,  Amyl & The Sniffers have been announced for a stacked Primavera Festival lineup  this year alongside  Lana Del Rey ,  Pulp ,  The National ,  FKA Twigs ,  SZA ,  Disclosure  and more.

Sza shares stripped-down cover of eminem's classic hit 'lose yourself' — and earns the rapper's approval.

The "Snooze" singer said she wanted to deliver the tender rendition of Slim Shady's 2002 hip-hop classic "for mental health"

SZA is stepping into new terrirory with a soulful rendition of an Eminem classic.

On May 30, May 30, the SOS singer , 34, shared a stripped-down cover of the Encore rapper’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself” on Instagram.

With stirring vocals over an intimate piano drop, the R&B star crooned the song’s first verse before sliding into its famous chorus, sweetly singing, “You better lose yourself in the music / The moment, you own it, you better never let it go / You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow / This opportunity comes once in a lifetime.”

“U ever just cover Eminem on some tender s--- for feels?” SZA captioned the audio clip, adding of the cover, “(Not on a project Just for mental health🧘🏾‍♀️ ).”

The “Kill Bill” singer’s rendition got immediate praise from fans — and even caught the attention of Eminem, 51, who commented on her post with a wide-eyed emoji.

Eminem released “Lose Yourself” over two decades ago as part of the soundtrack for his semi-autobiographical movie, 8 Mile , in which he made his big-screen debut. The single became the rap artist’s first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper and won two Grammys for best rap song and best male rap solo performance in 2004. It also won an Academy Award in 2003 for best original song.

SZA’s Eminem cover arrives on the heels of the hip-hop star’s May 31 single, “ Houdini ,” which appears on his forthcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce ) . A music video for the track arrived the same day, echoing comic book-style callbacks from “Without Me,” another 2002 hit from the hip-hop star.

Before releasing "Houdini," Eminem shared an Instagram clip featuring magician David Blaine, in which he called the performer on FaceTime to ask for help.

“What I was wondering is like, how far can we go with this magic? Like, can we do like a stunt or something?” the rapper says, to which Blaine replies by downing a glass of wine before chomping on it.

Eminem then says, “Well, for my last trick, I’m gonna make my career disappear,” before abruptly hanging up the phone.

The stunt is the rapper’s latest in his theatrical album campaign, which has so far included a fake obituary for his alter ego, Slim Shady, as a nod to the upcoming project's theme.

The obit, which appeared in the Detroit Free Press earlier this month, stated, “Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world.”

Taylor Swift's 3 new Eras Tour openers have connections to Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, and Imagine Dragons. Here's everything to know about the rising stars.

  • Taylor Swift has recruited three rising stars to perform during The Eras Tour in London.
  • Mette, Griff, and Benson Boone will join Paramore as tour openers at Wembley Stadium.
  • Keep reading for key songs you should know and details about each artist's career.

Insider Today

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour cast is expanding.

Swift, who's currently in the midst of the tour's European leg , has already welcomed an array of artists to share her stage, including Phoebe Bridgers , Sabrina Carpenter, MUNA, Gayle , Gracie Abrams, and more. But on Monday, Swift announced that she'd recruited three more rising stars.

Mette, Griff, and Benson Boone will join Paramore as openers for Swift's set of London shows: Mette will perform on Friday, June 21; Griff on Saturday, June 22; and Boone on Sunday, June 23. (Swift will return to Wembley Stadium for five additional dates in August, but those openers have not yet been announced.)

"Thought this might be a fun time to announce the first group of opening acts I'll be adding to the London shows, going on before Paramore," Swift wrote on her Instagram Story. "I chose artists whose music I love listening to, and I can't wait for them to add an extra jolt of excitement to our shows."

If you've yet to add Mette, Griff, or Boone to your own playlists, keep reading for a primer on their careers so far.

sza uk tour setlist 2023

Key songs: " Bet ," " Van Gogh ," " Mama's Eyes "

The lowdown: Mette Towley, who releases music mononymously as Mette, is a singer, dancer, and actor from Minnesota.

She initially received acclaim after starring in the 2017 music video for "Lemon" by N.E.R.D and Rihanna; the clip opens with Rihanna shaving Mette's head. You may also recognize her from a brief cameo as the discontinued Video Girl doll in the 2023 blockbuster "Barbie."

Mette and Swift most likely met on the set of 2019's "Cats," in which Mette played Cassandra . (Swift portrayed Bombalurina in the unsettling adaptation of the Broadway play.)

More recently, Mette released her debut EP "Mettenarrative" and toured with the UK's disco darling Jessie Ware.

"I really wanted to be an artist growing up, but dance was where I felt most confident in my abilities," she told Vogue last year. "Even when I started making this EP back in 2019, I didn't tell most of the people I knew, my friends and collaborators. It just still felt so far away. Now, I feel like I can truly claim that for myself."

"I have nothing to prove," she added. "Only to share."

In addition to joining The Eras Tour this summer, Mette will also perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago.

sza uk tour setlist 2023

Key songs: " Vertigo ," " Miss Me Too ," " Black Hole "

The lowdown: Griff — born Sarah Faith Griffiths in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, to a Jamaican father and Chinese mother — has described herself as a lifelong Swiftie .

"She's probably one of the No. 1 people that I look up to in terms of being a songwriter and being a top female in the music industry and being so consistent and coming back, time after time after time, with incredible songs," Griff told Nylon . "I even said that to her."

The two musicians met at the 2021 Brit Awards , where Griff received the annual rising star award and performed her popular single "Black Hole." (Swift had previously called herself a " huge fan " and even gave Griff a shout-out while accepting the global icon award .)

Griff kept her music aspirations a secret at school and only began pursuing it in earnest after finishing her A-Level exams. Instead of enrolling in a university, she took a "gap year" that quickly snowballed into a professional career . After releasing a string of well-received singles, she opened on tour for Ed Sheeran, a noted pal of Swift's . She has also collaborated with fellow indie-pop darlings like Sigrid and Maisie Peters .

Benson Boone

sza uk tour setlist 2023

Key songs: " Beautiful Things ," " Slow It Down ," " Cry "

The lowdown: Benson Boone seemed to arrive out of nowhere when his single "Beautiful Things" topped both of Billboard's global charts in February. The surprise viral hit owes much of its success to TikTok, where Boone has 7 million followers .

However, the Washington native had been laying the groundwork for years, already having earned two entries on the Billboard Hot 100 .

Boone started out as a contestant on "American Idol" — where he was praised as a potential winner by none other than Katy Perry — but withdrew from the competition to avoid being pigeonholed in his career. In 2021, he caught the attention of Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds and signed to the rockstar's own label, Night Street Records, in partnership with Warner Records .

Shortly after, Boone made his chart debut with "Ghost Town" (No. 100). He made a second chart appearance in 2022 with his power ballad "In the Stars" (No. 59), which also became his first platinum-certified single in the US.
