How should I layer my Pottery Barn pillows?

Nina has five rules to layer your Pottery Barn pillows like a pro:

1. Start with a Foundation: ‘Begin with larger pillows as a base, such as 20-inch square pillows, to provide structure and support for seating,’ explains the designer.

2. Mix and Match: ‘Play with a combination of colors, patterns, and textures,' she says, adding, 'Aim for a cohesive color palette with complementary or contrasting hues.’

3. Odd Numbers: Ever heard of the rule of three? There’s something to it — odd numbers feel uniquely comforting. According to Nina, arranging pillows in odd numbers (e.g., three or five) makes for ‘a balanced and visually appealing display.’

4. Create Depth: ‘Layer pillows by alternating sizes and shapes,’ the designer advises. ‘Place larger pillows at the back and smaller ones in front to create depth and dimension.’

5. Symmetry and Balance: Nina suggests arranging ‘pillows symmetrically for a polished look,’ or doing the opposite and experimenting with asymmetry for ‘a more relaxed and eclectic feel.’

For an additional fee, some products can be delivered next day depending on availability and destination within the contiguous 48 states. Orders received by 6pm (PT) Monday through Thursday will arrive the next business day. Orders placed on Friday after 6pm (PT) through Sunday will arrive on Tuesday.

There are some restrictions for Next Day delivery as well as for out of stock, personalized items or items shipped directly from the manufacturer.

If you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase, we’re here to help. 

Eligible items can be exchanged for a refund of the merchandise value within 30 days of receiving an order or seven days for Quick Ship upholstery items. An original receipt or gift receipt is required, our stores will not accept returns or exchanges without a receipt or proof of purchase. We will issue a refund in the form of the original payment or with a gift card. Shipping charges may be applied to your refund amount.
