Readout of Secretary Mayorkas’s Travel to El Salvador as the Head of the United States Presidential Delegation

From May 31 – June 1, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas traveled to San Salvador, El Salvador as the Head of the United States Presidential Delegation to the inauguration of President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele. Secretary Mayorkas was joined by United States Ambassador to the Republic of El Salvador William H. Duncan; Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, U.S. Department of Commerce, Marisa Lago; Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, U.S. Department of State, Brian A. Nichols; Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration, U.S. Department of State, Julieta Valls Noyes; and Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for the Western Hemisphere, National Security Council, Daniel P. Erikson.

During the visit, Secretary Mayorkas met with President Bukele to discuss the many cultural, and economic ties our two countries share and reaffirmed the mutual commitment to address our common challenges. The discussions focused on enhancing the rule-of-law to ensure sustainable security for Salvadorans, strengthening enforcement actions against narcotics trafficking, and advancing effective migration management. The Secretary also expressed gratitude for El Salvador’s contributions to the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti. The Secretary and the President committed to working together to foster continued economic growth and development in El Salvador, including increasing the utilization of H-2 temporary work visas for Salvadoran nationals. They also highlighted the continued strong partnership between our countries in reducing irregular migration flows through increased enforcement and strengthened visa regimes.

Secretary Mayorkas congratulated President Bukele on his inauguration and the two leaders committed to ensuring robust bilateral cooperation on a range of issues that will benefit the citizens of the United States and El Salvador.

Mike Lee, Matt Gaetz, Tucker Carlson, Don Jr. travel to El Salvador for Bukele’s 2nd inauguration

A populist party in El Salvador saw right-wing figures converge to celebrate the second inauguration of President Nayib Bukele, including notables among American conservatives.

Saturday in Central America, Bukele was sworn in for another five-year term atop the Nuevas Ideas Party which had won a dominating 54 of 60 parliamentary seats. Celebrating his victory with 83% of the vote, largely attributed to promoting law and order while taking a stand against Marxist indoctrination, world leaders weren’t alone in flocking to the capital of San Salvador.

Pictures posted to social media included a number or prominent Republicans and vocal supporters of former President Donald Trump that included Florida Reps. Matt Gaetz and María Elvira Salazar, Utah Sen. Mike Lee as well as commentator Tucker Carlson and the president’s own son and future daughter-in-law, Donald Trump Jr. and Kimberly Guilfoyle.

“In El Salvador for the inauguration of President Nayib Bukele,” wrote Lee sharing images from the event. “He defeated his principal opponent, Manuel Flores, in February’s presidential election. To the best of my knowledge, Bukele made no attempt to imprison Flores.”

In addition to “Sound of Freedom” producer Eduardo Verástegui, journalist Sara Carter and Conservative Political Action Conference Chair Matt Schlapp, a slew of foreign leaders attended the ceremony including Spain’s King Felipe VI, Presidents Xiomara Castro of Honduras, Daniel Noboa of Ecuador, Santiago Peña of Paraguay, Rodrigo Chaves Robles of Costa Rica and the equally lauded populist from Argentina, President Javier Milei who had been seen embracing both Bukele and Trump.

The presence of so many figures of import was not without danger as the Associated Press reported that a bomb threat meant to coincide with the inauguration had been thwarted after National Police had seized explosive devices in a raid of a “former rebel stronghold.” The threat was attributed to the leftist FMNL Party.

During his inauguration speech, the president had said, “We have finally conquered fear and are a truly free country.”

That message came only a few short months after Bukele’s re-election had updated that their public education system had “removed every use or trace of gender ideology from public schools.”

Verástegui, who has stood firmly in the fight against human trafficking, congratulated Bukele with a message which, when translated, included the message, “I ask God to continue blessing this great nation.”

Meanwhile, Salazar expressed optimism that Bukele’s stance against criminality would lend a hand in bringing an end to gang violence, “Miami and its Central American community have a partner we can work with from Congress to successfully crush the gangs threatening our Hemisphere.”

Of course, amid the celebration of figures from across the political right, a representative from President Joe Biden’s administration had also been dispatched. Ever gaslighting, the White House had sent impeached Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas who posted in part, “The U.S. stands ready to build on our partnership with El Salvador to foster economic growth and cooperate on regional migration and security.”

(CNN Español) -- Antes de que el año futbolístico llegue a su fin, los aficionados al deporte más popular del mundo disfrutarán del desenlace más esperado a nivel de clubes: la final de la Champions League masculina.

La Champions 2023/2024, que será la última edición con el formato acostumbrado de 32 equipos, tiene en la final al Real Madrid (España) y al Borussia Dortmund (Alemania), en un partido que destaca por sus contrastes.

Por un lado, el cuadro merengue llega como el favorito absoluto de la competencia: no ha perdido un solo partido en la actual Champions League (12 victorias y cuatro empates), jugará como el reciente campeón de La Liga española y, para magnificar su posición, está buscando su título 15 en esta competencia para afianzarse aún más como el "rey de Europa".

En tanto, el Borussia se presenta en la final como una de las sorpresas del torneo, pero esto no quiere decir que no merezca su lugar en el partido decisivo. El club alemán quedó en primer lugar de su grupo, considerado por muchos como el más complicado del certamen. Si bien su récord no es perfecto en esta Champions, se puede destacar que en 12 partidos solamente registró dos derrotas y tres empates, según datos de la UEFA .

Pese a la experiencia y palmarés sin igual del Madrid en esta competición, el Borussia Dortmund no es nuevo en esta instancia final. Tiene en su historial un título de Champions tras ganarle 3-1 a la Juventus en la temporada 1996/1997 ; asimismo, en la temporada 2012/2013 jugaron otro final de Champions League, esta vez frente al acérrimo rival Bayern Munich, equipo que salió victorioso.

Ahora, el Dortmund tendrá la oportunidad de cerrar la herida de la final contra el Bayern Munich, ya que la final de el sábado 1 de junio se juega en el Estadio de Wembley, misma sede del partido decisivo de hace 11 años.

En dicha final contra el Munich, Mats Hummels y Marco Reus fueron titulares todo el partido, algo que apunta a repetirse este sábado.
