Hailing from Lahti, Finland, Korpiklaani was born out of the ashes of Shaman, to become one of the most successful folk metal bands of today, blending traditional Sami folk music with thrash and death metal.

Korpiklaani initially started off as a folk act, Shaman Duo, led by Jonne Järvelä, in 1993. The project then expanded into a band in 1996, named Shaman, who incorporated heavy use of Sámic music and Sámi lyrics, featuring traditional elements such as shamanic drumming, yolk and humppa, into their metal tinged music, releasing two albums, 1999’s “Idja” and 2002’s “Shamániac.” In 2003, Järvelä wanted to evolve the band’s style of music, moving towards a style still characterised by traditional Finnish folk, but with a more conventional metal sound, dropping the yoiking vocals for more of a thrash metal style.

From this change, Korpiklaani was formed, creating a sound inspired by other folk metal bands, most notably Finntroll, favouring riotous songs about alcohol and partying. Järvelä added violins, drums, bass and guitar to the band, as well as a percussionist, to help flesh out the sound. Their debut record, “Spirit of the Forest” was released in 2003, on Napalm Records. The album was a success, in its carefully constructed folk metal full of ‘humppa’ melodies that sounds distinctly Finnish.

In 2005, they returned with “Voice of the Wilderness," adding accordions and another guitarist to the lineup. Six further albums followed, released on Napalm Records and then moving to Nuclear Blast in 2008, for “Korven Kuningas.” Moving to Nuclear Blast, their albums have consistently charted well in European countries, breaking the top 40 in the Finnish charts, as well as the top 100 in Switzerland Austria and Germany.

These days, I stumble across a lot of folk metal. It’s something that I am now completely aware that it has been around for about thirty years, I just had no idea it had such a loyal following, almost as though, when the folk metal crowd know that it is the genre that you endorse, you’ve already sold a good tens of thousand units on your primary release! Who knows what the formula is. Anyway, lets talk about this huge band Korpiklanni, from Finland – any guesses on the translation? I thought it was something along the lines of clown but it is actually “Wilderness Clan”, they have been doing their folk metal thing for the last twenty years now, and their following is huge. When they play tonight, punters push and shove to get to the front to experience the theatrics of this Finnish outfit. When they tear through their back catalogue there are moments that I have to pinch myself, as it feels as though I’m on the set of Lord of the Rings, which is super exciting of course, just a little out of the ordinary!

Honestly, after having seen these bands a number of times I'm going to leave out all the amazing shit about them because of the sound. Venues that fuck up sound and the sound guys behind this "work" can go fuck themselves. At 29 and with tinnitus I don't even hold back about the shitty, too loud, can't hear anything but drums and distortion bullshit being put upon us. The bands are legends though... that makes it even more insulting.

Amazing. Loved it. We treated ourselves to some food prior to the show and that was amazing as well. House of Blues is such a great venue. Maybe be small in size, but the whole tiny venue, more intimate feeling is just so sublime. I'm glad I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite bands. Korpiklaani sound badass live. HIGHLY RECOMMEND seeing them whenever you can.

My first time seeing the band live. Brilliant and fun concert, a full on party atmosphere. The support bands were also interesting and entertaining, although with occasional exceptions, I couldn't hear Sarahellise's guitars and backing vocals. I was sitting right next to the sound desk as well.

Awesome as always! The accordion an violin give them a unique feel. Plus, they really know how to rile up a crowd and keep them entertained. When the crowd keeps going back and forth between moshing and line-dancing, you know you are in for a treat.

The best pirate metal I've ever heard! I had barely listened to these guys in the past but I loved their sound. Very unique compared to anything I had ever heard before. They got the croud riled up really good.

So good I enjoyed seeing them more this time cause they played about 2 hours .When I first saw them only about 45 minutes cause they weren't the headliner .Alot of fun .And it was my Birthday too :)

GREAT SHOW!!!! They sounded perfect and were absolutely fun. I'll never miss their concert when they come to town. I am surprised that these guys are playing in arenas. The energy was great.

Amazing show!!! Great venue and energy!!! So happy Korpiklaani was able to come back to Toronto and my fiance and I could go see them! We loved it... Wish they played Rauta but it's okay!!!

LIVE REVIEW: Korpiklaani Rankarumpu North American Tour with Visions Of Atlantis and Illumishade

Finnish folk metal superstars Korpiklaani following an extensive UK tour with Alestorm and Heidevolk in February and March embarked on a North American tour with Visions Of Atlantis and Illumishade. After a proper kickoff in Reading, PA bands came to shine within the bright lights of New York City.

First up came a Swiss rock and metal band Illumishade. The band was founded in 2019 by Eluveitie band members Fabienne Erni and Jonas Wolf makes cinematic and fantasy music, combined with rock and metal. Their set consisted of eight songs, with most coming from their latest release Another Side Of You. As I witnessed Eluveitie performance last year, I must say that Fabienne Erni is an excellent vocalist in any subgenre she wants to be, from folk to metal her voice is amazing.

Austrian band Visions Of Atlantis is led by another bombshell vocalist from France Clémentine Delauney. The band has gone through a multitude of lineup changes with  only one of their founding members left on the band – drummer Thomas Caser. Current members gel together seamlessly and the band’s music and performance is wonderful. Band has engaged in pirate style. All members are dressed in pirate attire during their live performances. Band has released eight studio albums with the last one in 2022 called, you guessed it, Pirates. The new one, you guessed it – Pirates II – Armada set to be released on July 5th. As Symphonic metal band Visions Of Atlantis rely heavily on catchy rhythms and melodic female voice. They played a set of ten songs with most coming from the 2022 release and two from the upcoming album, so this was a real pirate set.

Korpiklaani chose an interesting stage decor for a Finnish band, filled with palm trees and exotic plants. I would have more expected evergreens and ferns. But hey, when they hit the stage it quickly became evident that you are here not just to listen to Finnish folk motives, but to party !!! Though, Korpiklaani is not the only folk metal band that I have witnessed, and from all my experiences I must say that it is a common motive for many folk metal bands to embrace this party like music and atmosphere.

Visually the band’s vocalist Jonne Järvelä looked more like a voodoo magician from New Orleans, with his hat, leather outfit and dreadlocks. His enthusiastic singing and dancing was infectious that many in the attendance became fluent in Finnish and sang along to the songs. The other band members include Kalle “Cane” Savijärvi on guitar, Jarkko Aaltonen on bass,Sami Perttula on accordion, Samuli Mikkonen on drums and Olli Vänskä on violin.

Korpiklaani just released on April 5th  their twelfth studio album Rankarumpu and are touring in its support. All together they played six songs from the latest release and the whole set consisted of over twenty songs.

Korpiklaani announce North American tour w/ Visions of Atlantis & Illumishade; new album arriving in April 2024

Finnish folk metal giants Korpiklaani have announced their upcoming album, Rankarumpu , set for release on April 5, 2024 via Nuclear Blast. The band has also outlined extensive touring plans for 2024, starting with a UK tour alongside Alestorm and Heidevolk in February and March. The album release will be celebrated with shows in Mexico on April 5th and 6th, followed by a North American tour in April and May with Visions Of Atlantis and Illumishade. Korpiklaani’s twelfth studio album promises a blend of familiar folk metal elements with exciting new additions, including the talents of new permanent members Olli Vänskä on violin and Sami Perttula on accordion. Recorded and produced by Janne Saksa, Rankarumpu is anticipated to be the band’s catchiest album to date. 

Jonne Järvelä comments: 

“Whenever I start writing something new, the material always finds its own path without any forcing – that stuff just comes from somewhere deep inside me, completely naturally. Anyway, when I started to come up with the material for Rankarumpu, I set myself a goal. A couple of previous records, especially Kulkija (2018), were a bit slower as a whole, so this time I wanted to benefit from a bit faster tempos – a bit like the old Korpiklaani.”

In addition to their recently announced North American tour dates with Ensiferum, KORPIKLAANI has announced a run of North American Headline shows with Trollfest providing direct support.  These dates begin April 28 th in Charlotte, NC and run through May 5 th in San Diego, CA.  The two bands will then join up with co-headliner Ensiferum May 6 th in Los Angeles, CA.   The tour then crosses the country and wraps up May 29 th in New York, NY.

Aespa Online Concert 2024: Tickets Booking & Price Details

S M Entertainment’s popular girl group Aespa will kickstart their world tour at Jamsil Indoor Stadium. But global fans watch the majestic concert online through Weverse. Before the much anticipated Aespa tour series begins, here’s a rundown of Aespa’s online concert airtime and ticket booking details.

Aespa held its first World Tour in 2023 with 31 concerts in 21 cities in 12 countries worldwide. The concert started at Jamsil Arena on February 25, 2023, and concluded on September 30 at Dôme de Paris in France. The K-pop group earned global recognition through live shows where fans praised the girls’ vocal prowess and charisma on stage.

After almost a year of concluding Synk: Hyper Line, Aespa is ready to begin chapter two of their world tour with Synk: Parallel Line. So far, the K-pop quartet has announced dates of 27 concerts in 14 cities.

Aespa online concert 2024: Where & how to buy tickets?

Aespa’s first 2024 online concert will air on June 30 at 5 p.m. KST, 4 a.m. ET, 1 a.m. PT, and 1.30 p.m. IST. Global fans can watch the concert live with in-person fans through Weverse. Tickets for online concerts are available on the official Weverse Shop.

Once fans buy the tickets, they will go to the official Weverse concert link and validate the ticket before the live stream begins. To validate any live-streaming ticket, K-pop fans must log in with the ID they used to purchase the ticket and follow the instructions on the screen.

How much do Aespa online concert tickets cost?

Aespa June 30th online concert tickets are priced at $45.10. However, depending on a fan’s membership, they can choose the viewing quality. For official Aespa fan membership holders, the fans can select a 4K single view. Others who do not hold a membership can access HD single-viewing passes.

Meanwhile, the Jamsil Indoor Stadium concerts will only begin Aespa’s grand world tour . Following their Seoul concerts, Aespa will travel to Japan’s Fukuoka for two shows on July 6 and 7. Aespa will perform its first non-Asian concert this year in Sydney, New South Wales, on August 31.

Def Leppard, Journey team for stadium tour: 'We may have a surprise or two up our sleeves'

The anthems will be loud and frequent when Journey and Def Leppard take a spin through stadiums this summer.

The rock powerhouses are teaming for a 23-city tour that will kick off July 6, 2024, at Busch Stadium in St. Louis and wrap Sept. 8 at Coors Field in Denver.

While the bands have a stockpile of smashes including “Any Way You Want It,” “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Photograph” and “Pour Some Sugar on Me,” respectively, they’ll also be joined by fellow hitmakers Steve Miller Band , Heart and Cheap Trick in varying markets (see list below).

Registration for presale tickets begins at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT on Dec. 7 at www.defleppardjourney2024.com .

Both Journey and Def Leppard have been road warriors lately. Def Leppard played a sold-out stadium run in summer 2022 with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and continued a worldwide tour with Motley Crue in 2023.

Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott shared that the band's set will celebrate specific parts of the rockers' history. "We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeves," he said in a statement.

Journey recently announced a spate of 2024 dates for their 50 th anniversary Freedom tour, which will play arenas across the U.S. between Feb. 9 and April 29.
