What happens on the day?

On arrival at a venue not far from Bath racecourse, you’ll be warmly greeted by the ground crew who’ll check you in for your 15 minute flight. The team will then give you a safety briefing and a description of the tour, before it’s time to board your helicopter – either a B206 Jet Range or a AS350 Single Squirrel. Alongside three or four other passengers depending on the helicopter model, you’ll take to the skies and soak up spectacular scenery from around 1,500ft. Once back on the ground, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase a framed photo of yourself by the aircraft.

Participant guidelines

• Minimum age:4  (under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult) 
• Any passenger over the weight of 18 stone must contact us before booking
• Toilet facilities are not available at this venue
• Spectators are welcome along
• The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary

Availability

Your voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.  Please book and take your experience before the expiry date.

This experience is available on weekends between May - November -  Dates are released on a monthly basis for passengers to book in. (Exclusion may apply)

We recommend you book at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.

Please allow 45 minutes on site – this time allows for pre-flight safety briefings, questions and your 15 minute flight.

The partners contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.

Q1. Hi Gemma! So to kick things off, how was HeliAdventures founded? HeliAdventures provides helicopter tours from a plethora of locations and is part of a long established Helicopter Company based at Cotswold Airport in Gloucestershire. Further services from this multifaceted company include helicopter charters and professional helicopter training.

HeliAdventures was started out of the passion of two pilots who wanted to be able to share their passion and make available to others the experience of helicopter flights. The cost of helicopters make it prohibitively expensive to many, but by setting up HeliAdventures and selling sightseeing tours by the seat we hoped to open up the opportunity to many others to enjoy.

Q2. How do you think HeliAdventures stands out from other helicopter companies? Not only do we operate all our own events, we always use our own pilots, our own helicopters and operate under our own Air Operators Certificate (AOC), allowing us to provide seamless customer service throughout the booking process and the experience itself. Unlike a majority of UK sightseeing flight operators, we use immaculately presented Airbus Helicopters AS350 aircraft which provides great visibility for all passengers in a much more modern and spacious cabin compared with the Jet Ranger used by most others. Our pilots are very familiar with the specific areas within which our range of helicopter flights and tours are conducted, and they have worked to put together routes that will give you the very best in excitement and spectacle.

Q3. What is your favourite part of running HeliAdventures? Seeing the joy on customers faces after their flight when, in many cases, they have just realised a life long dream.

Q4. Tell us more about your story and HeliAdventures’ success.. HeliAdventures has grown over the years to become one of the largest UK pleasure flight operators to cover multiple locations throughout the South West and Midlands. Keep an eye out …more of the UK to be added soon! As well as this our training division has been able to satisfy the dreams of many people of becoming a pilot whose initial introduction to helicopters was a pleasure flight with HeliAdventures.

We flew 450 sightseeing tour in 2015, which equates to more than 2,000 passengers and of those 2,000 passengers over 90% rate us 4-5 out of 5 and say they would recommend us to others. We are aiming for 100% in 2016!

The one thing that everyone most wants to see and photograph from the air is the Clifton Suspension Bridge. Built by Brunel it signifies Bristol’s industrial heritage and whilst already looking pretty impressive from the ground it is amazing from your privileged position in the chopper as you look down on those fine curves and the Avon gorge below.

In fact architecture fans are spoilt for choice in Bristol with over 50 Grade I and over 4000 Grade II listed buildings around this hill-side city from medieval to ultra-modern all making the list. You might well be able to spot the likes of Cabot Tower perched on the slope at Brandon Hill Park the colourful facades of the Georgian townhouses in Clifton and the elegant Temple Meads station.

Then there’s that undeniable student vibe with Bristol boasting two Universities. If you can pick out the steep Park Street from your chopper you might be able to spot Will’s Memorial at the summit of this road where formal University ceremonies are held.

But what we love about Bristol is that it’s not totally built-up with the likes of Queen Square the lovely Bristol Park with the ruin of St Peter’s church down by the river as well as the Downs Clifton Woods and Leigh Woods too – all adding welcome greenery to the make-up of this vibrant place.
