Jungle Cruise Life Preservers
The Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom had updates recently. One often overlooked area by visitors is the queue, which has tons of hidden details and references. One section, along the wall of the extended queue has five life preservers with nods to the Jungle Cruise history.

Congo Connie

Molopi Marie

Wamba Wanda

These clever life preservers weren’t the only update to the queue, but they help tell the story of our intrepid skippers and their time on the Jungle Cruise.

Disney Cruise Line Exclusive Chamilia Charm Beads
Late last year, Disney Cruise Line began selling a test run of new Chamilia bead designs exclusively for sale on the ships. The initial batch sold out very quickly, and in December we were informed the beads would be available again by late February, or early March.
Unsure about the availability of the Chamilia beads, we made a trip to White Caps, Deck 3 forward on the Disney Fantasy, immediately following dinner the first night of our recent cruise. The entire Chamilia bead display was sitting atop the glass showcase for easy viewing. Sure enough, all four of the exclusive Disney Cruise Line Chamilia beads were available.
Disney Cruise Line Chamilia Bead Pricing as of March 15, 2013
- Life Preserver with DCL Logo $50
- DCL Logo Bead $50
- DCL Mickey Head Anchor $45
- DCL Logo Cruise Ship $45
Remember, if you are Gold or Platinum Castaway Club member you will get an additional 10% off your duty free purchase.
As you can see my wife is well on her way to building a second bracelet.
There was a special offer listed in Tuesday’s Personal Navigator for 10% off the DCL Logo Cruise Ship bead with purchase of a Chamilia bracelet which was selling on the ship for $58.50. According a Cast Member working in White Caps, this promotion is ongoing, not just when it is listed in the Navigator. That being said, if it is not listed in the Navigator it would not hurt to ask, but I would caution that this could change at any time so please do not expect it.
The majority of the non-DCL exclusive, Disney Chamilia beads and charms available onboard can be also be purchased at various Disney Parks & Resorts retail locations, as well as, online directly from Chamilia or at DisneyStore.com .
There is also an older Chamilia Cruise ship bead (pictured above – bottom right) which was once sold on the Magic & Wonder, and is still available from Chamilia for $35 .
All four of the new bead designs remained available through out our 7-Night cruise. So, I’d suggest not over paying for these on eBay if you are sailing in the near future.
UPDATE: New DCL Chamilia Beads Available – August 2014
There are two new Chamilia charms available on the ships. One features Steamboat Willie ($45) over a ship’s wheel and the other is a bead with Mickey heads and anchors ($55). Thanks to joycsk on the disboards and her husband for sharing these photos with us.

20 Replies to “Disney Cruise Line Exclusive Chamilia Charm Beads”
I wanted the DCL logo ship bead and didn’t buy it on our honeymoon because I have Pandora and not Chamilia. I regret not buying it now cause I can’t even find it anywhere not even on ebay 🙁 Do you know of any way to get it other than on the ship? I would love to go on another disney cruise, but we can’t afford it yet…
Unfortunately, no. These are exclusive to the ships. The old non-DCL cruise ship bead was at one time available around the various locations at Walt Disney World.
My husband and Ijust booked on the wonder in oct! I hope they have it!!!! 🙂
Do you happen to know some of the other jewelry designers they carry on the Disney Dream? When I was on the cruise the December I fell in love with a beautiful rose gold ring and completely forgot the designer. I have had trouble finding it online (I don’t think it was Sophia Fiori) and can’t stop thinking about it. Can you help?
Sorry, I do not recall the other designers.
Would your wife be willing to sell her DCL charm? Or if you happen to go anytime soon I’d be more than happy to purchase one from you =)
My charms are not for sale. In fact, I am building a bracelet and plan on getting two more on our next cruise (provided they have the beads available on board).
Kim says: Scott, any suggestions for how to purchase two of these charms? I’ve checked with the Disney Store and with Chamilia and neither of them can help me. I cruised on the Magic in June, but I didn’t buy the charms while on the ship. Now, I am scrambling. Please advise.Thank you.
Kim, These charms are exclusive to the ships. There are a couple options that come to mind short of booking another cruise. Check around to see if anyone you know well enough and trust would be willing to buy them for you. At last resort, I would look on eBay, but keep in mind when they do show up, sellers are asking a hefty price. Personally, I’d avoid overpaying on eBay.
Hi Kim, my name is Vicki and we are from Australia and we are cruising in sept 2014 and if they were available and you still don’t have those charms, I would be happy to buy them for you and post to you once we get back to orlando from our cruise on the 25th sept. let me know if you would still like them.
I am also looking for the Disney cruise ship with logo for my daughter. How would you work out payment? If you send it COD, I would pay any additional charges involved. Do you know how much a charm costs? I have seen 2 prices, $100 and $45. Where in Australia? We visited relatives in Sydney and Melbourne 10 yrs ago.
do you know if these are available on the Disney Wonder? We are sailing the Wonder in October. Thanks, Carol
The are available fleet wide unless they are out of stock.
Vicki id be interested in buying charms from you, im in the uk tho,
do these charms fit on the Pandora bracelets?
Hi nancy yes the beads will fit pandora
Does anyone know if these are still available? I won’t be on a cruise until January at the earliest and am really hoping to get at least one charm 🙂
Not sure if they are still available, but I’d imagine it would be a ‘while supplies last’ sort of thing.

Here are 5 things to know about the new Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point
Disney fans will have a new destination to visit starting this month - Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
The new Bahamian destination will be a port of call for Disney cruise ships beginning in early June. The inaugural cruise is seven nights aboard the Disney Fantasy leaving Port Canaveral June 8. The island is expected to be a blend of vibrant colors, festive sounds and friendly faces.
Here are five things to know about Disney’s new island.
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is not a private island
Disney’s other island, Castaway Cay, is a private island. The only way to visit Castaway Cay is to be a Disney cast member or a Disney guest.
That’s not the case with Disney’s newest Bahamian destination. Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point was developed on an exiting island, Eleuthera. Disney’s agreement with the government of the Bahamas provides all citizens and residents of The Bahamas full access to the property.
The total site is 900 acres, located at the southern tip of Eleuthera. Less than 16% of the acreage has been developed, and 25% of the acreage donated to Bahamian people. Disney will offer its guests excursions to visit other parts of Eleuthera and experience local culture.
Disney officials have been working closely with the island’s residents for many years to properly build the destination.
The name, Lookout Cay, is pronounced KEY, which is the same pronunciation as Castaway Cay.
Although it’s called Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, there is technically no traditional lighthouse. There is, however, a building known as a light station that guides ships to the island.
Want to visit? You'll need to cruise on these ships
Disney Magic, Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream are the ships that will visit Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.
Sailings are three, four, five or 10 nights and leave from either Port Canaveral or Fort Lauderdale. Longer sailings also stop at Disney’s private island Castaway Cay.
Activities abound at Lookout Cay
In true Disney fashion, there are plenty of family-friendly activities, all with a Bahamian touch. There’s a family beach area, an interactive water play area with two slides, plus gaming pavilions including volleyball courts and more.
Expect to see some of your favorite Disney friends enjoying the island dressed in attire created by a Bahamian designer. Mickey and his friends might also be known to bust out in dance parties with local musicians.
There’s special programing for children and teens that exposes them to the island’s culture and also educates them about the area’s animals and plants. It’s done through interactive play, scavenger hunts and collaborations with Nat Geo Kids.
If you’re taking a cruise sans little ones, you’ll want to visit the adults only beach. There’s even a dining area on the island specially designated for adults.
What food will be served?
No surprise, many of the dishes will have a Bahamian flair. There’s island-spiced rotisserie chicken, plant-based island curry, Bahamian-style lime marinated grilled snapper and plenty more.
There are three restaurants on the island: True-True BBQ, True-True BBQ Too and Serenity Bay BBQ, which is an adults only restaurant.
There also will be some specialty cocktails including the Eleuthera Euphoria made with rum, pineapple smoothie mix and DOLE Whip.
Keep your eyes out for various forms of wildlife
You’ll want to look up and down to make sure you don’t miss any of the wildlife the island has to offer.
There are more than 100 different bird species to observe. Cast members started a bird monitoring program to help identify all the flying friends, and they also designated certain spaces as sensitive areas to not disrupt the birds.
When you’re snorkeling near the ocean’s floor, look for giant barrel sponges. These invertebrates are the largest species of water-filtering sponge and are often called “Redwoods of the Reef” because of their size and lifespan.
The giant barrel sponges share the ocean with nearly 75 species of fish. You might see Nassau grouper, parrot fish and blue tangs swimming right offshore.
Land crabs are a part of the Bahamian way of life and you’re likely to see plenty of them scurrying around the island. Everything from ghost crabs, black crabs and black-backed crab may shuffle right past you.

Everything You Need to Know About Traveling on the Disney Dream
I love all five of the Disney Cruise Line ships that I’ve been on, but I seem to spend the most time on the Disney Dream ship. It’s a beautiful ship with so many things for kids and adults to do, and because of the itineraries on the Disney Dream, it’s a pretty easy cruise to take for a quick getaway.
If you plan to cruise on the Disney Dream, here is everything that you need to know, including things to do on the Disney Dream.

The Disney Dream is the third ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet – and the first of the larger Dream class ships (the other being the Disney Fantasy ). It was brought into service in 2011 after a christening by Jennifer Hudson (who was once an entertainer aboard the Disney Wonder ).
It offers 1,250 staterooms and can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers. It definitely feels like a large ship – it takes a while to completely explore it. After seven different sailings on the ship, I feel like there are still areas that I haven’t explored.
Staterooms on the Disney Dream
Our family usually books an oceanview stateroom with verandah. Those offer a king bed as well as a set of bunk beds.
There are a variety of room types on the Disney Dream, including concierge rooms, verandah rooms, oceanview staterooms (with one or two porthole windows but no verandah), and inside rooms (that offer a “magical” porthole). Connecting staterooms are also available for larger groups.
Staterooms have a split bathroom (one room with a sink and toilet and one room with a shower/tub), a refrigerator, a closet, a safe, a hairdryer, and a television. Note that there are some rooms that only have one single bathroom.
Rooms include H2O toiletries that are mounted on the shower wall and generally have lots of space in various compartments for storing things. We always unpack right away and store our suitcases under the bed in our stateroom. That way, you’ll definitely have more room to move around.
Irons are not available in the room, but there are laundry rooms on the ship with iron facilities. If I need to iron anything, I like to do that on the first day so I can just hang things up and not worry about them. Check the map or ask your stateroom attendant where the laundry room is.
The beds on the ship are very comfortable – I find that I sleep so well on a cruise ship because of the light sway and the great room darkening shades.
Some rooms have bunk beds. For those, your stateroom attendant will pull down the bunk every evening and put it away in the morning if you’d like to use it. There are also rooms with trundle beds, which can accommodate up to 5 passengers.
If you are wondering what stateroom on the Disney Dream to book, you should consider how much time you plan to spend in the room, and what you plan to do in the room. When we sail, I love to grab a cup of coffee and sit outside watching the waves.
I also love watching the ship pull into port in the morning. Because of that, I’ve found that the verandah rooms are best for us. But they are definitely more expensive, so you’ll want to make sure you will use it.
If you don’t plan to spend much time in the room, an oceanview stateroom or an inside room may be a better option. It’s more economical, and you can always go on deck if you’d like to see outside. There are plenty of places to sit on the deck where you can see the ship pulling into port.
Room location may also be important to you. I generally don’t care too much, but I don’t like being right below the pool, or too close to the elevators. When traveling with friends and no kids, I like to be above the adult-only sections so they are easy to get to.
Like on the other ships, passengers on the Disney Dream often like to decorate their doors with stateroom door magnets . It’s a great way to identify your door when walking down the halls. If you want to do this, you’ll want to get prepared in advance.
My kids love picking out magnets before we leave on vacation. We typically add these to our day bag so we can decorate as soon as we are able to access our room, without waiting for our luggage.
See our in-depth review of the staterooms on the Disney Dream here .
Restaurants on the Disney Dream
What restaurants are on the Disney Dream? The Disney Dream offers the same unique rotational dining experience that the other Disney Cruise Line ships offer. There are three main restaurants on the Disney Dream – Animator’s Palate, Royal Palace, and Enchanted Garden.
You’ll be assigned a specific rotation when you arrive at the port and will have the same dining staff during your entire cruise.
If you are on a four-day or five-day cruise, you’ll get assigned one or two restaurants twice. I have a child with food allergies, so I find it helpful to have the same servers because they already know us and the food restrictions.
At Animator’s Palate, you’ll see a fun show featuring Finding Nemo’s crush. It’s the most lively of the restaurants and is always my kids’ favorite.
Royal Palace is the more upscale restaurant, featuring delicious French food (try the escargot appetizer). It seems more luxurious but is still pretty casual. My favorite menu on the ship is at Royal Palace.
Enchanted Garden is absolutely beautiful – watch as the ceiling darkens from day to night during your dinner.
In addition to the three main restaurants, there are some quick-serve options. Cabanas is the buffet restaurant that offers breakfast and lunch, in addition to the delicious evening buffet on Pirate Night . There is seating both indoors and outdoors.
In addition, you can forgo your usual dining rotation and go to Cabanas on select nights. If it’s nice outside, I’d definitely recommend grabbing your breakfast and lunch and heading outside to eat.
Cabanas is fully staffed by the regular dining room staff, so if you need any assistance, or have food allergies, you’ll definitely find someone who can help.
There are other quick-service locations that serve pizza, salads, and sandwiches. We sometimes want a quick snack and will grab a slice of pizza – especially if we have the second dinner seating.
For coffee lovers, you’ll want to check out the Cove Cafe, which serves premium coffee. It’s only for adults and can be a nice place to sit and read a book as you sip your coffee.
You can also get Dole Whips (both with and without alcohol) at Frozone Treats on Deck 11. Room service is available to order 24 hours a day, except for disembarkation day.
For itineraries stopping at Castaway Cay , you’ll find two delicious BBQ restaurants on the family beach, as well as an adult-only BBQ restaurant at Serenity Bay. Servers from the ship travel out to the island to serve at these three locations.
For an additional fee, adults can choose to dine at Palo , the upscale Italian restaurant onboard, or Remy, the upscale French restaurant.
In addition, Palo’s often offers brunch on one day of the cruise. The brunch is absolutely delicious – I definitely recommend checking it out. While it has changed from a buffet to a sit down meal, it’s still fantastic.
If you want to eat at Palo, book it in advance so you’ll have your choice of times. The brunch especially is pretty popular and does book up.
Between Palo and Remy, you’ll find the Meridian bar, which offers alcoholic beverages in a bar with gorgeous views. I love grabbing a drink there before my meal at Palo.
If you are cruising with kids, you’ll probably find that they are happy to spend time in the kids’ clubs while you are eating. My kids usually order room service and then head to the kids’ clubs when my husband and I go to Palo.
Adult Areas on the Disney Dream
The kids’ clubs are fantastic on the Disney Cruise Line , so you’ll probably have some opportunity to explore the ship without kids. My kids always love checking out the kids’ clubs, and we even have to convince them to leave.
There are several adult-only areas and activities on the ship. The bars and clubs in the District section are adult-only in the evenings and offer entertainment and game shows.
My favorite adult-only area of the ship is Satellite Falls, which has a small waterfall/pool, as well as many lounge chairs. When my kids are in the kids’ clubs, I always enjoy grabbing a book and reading in the quiet area.
The ship also has a Senses Spa, which is a full-service spa offering lots of different services. For a treat, book a day pass for the Rainforest Room, where you can enjoy heated lounge chairs, two jacuzzis, a steam room, and much more.
Activities on the Disney Dream
There are so many things to do on the Disney Dream. You’ll even find that many guests don’t disembark at some ports because they are having so much fun on the ship. My kids especially love the kids’ clubs.
There are several options, depending on your kids’ ages, including a nursery, Oceaneer Club, Edge, and Vibe. There’s an open house that is held on the first day, so you can walk around and check things out with your kids.
There are also pools, the Aqualab splash area, and the famous AquaDuck – a watercoaster where you can travel in a tube around the ship. At the pool deck, you’ll find the FunnelVision TV, which offers movies and shows throughout the day.
You can also see first-run Disney movies in the theater. We usually skip the movies, however, because there is so much more to do. On longer sailings, my kids love sitting in the water watching a FunnelVision movie.
Families will enjoy the various game shows and activities offered in D Lounge throughout the day. For adults, there are some alcohol-tasting classes that you can sign up for (additional fees apply).
I’ve done a few of these and have always enjoyed them – my favorite is the wine tasting. You can sign up for these once you get on the ship.
There are also a variety of character greetings throughout the day – check the Disney Cruise Line app for a full schedule. In addition, make sure that you check the navigator on the first day ., because there are sometimes character greetings that require tickets.
For those kids who love to dress up, there’s a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique onboard, which shifts to a Pirates League on Pirate Night.
Shows on the Disney Dream
What shows are on the Disney Dream? There are three Broadway-style shows that you can see on the ship. Currently, these are the Golden Mickey’s, Beauty and the Beast, and Disney’s Believe. Read our review of Beauty and the Beast here .
These are very high-quality shows and can be great for kids. They generally run twice per night, and you’ll go to the showing that is opposite your dinner seating time. If you haven’t seen them, I definitely recommend going to each of the shows.
Itineraries on the Disney Dream
What are the Disney Dream itineraries? In the past, the Disney Dream sailed from Port Canaveral on three or four-night Bahamian sailings and was a great option for a Disney Land and Sea vacation because it was easy to combine one of these shorter cruises with a Walt Disney World vacation.
However, with the introduction of the Disney Wish , which has taken over that schedule, the Disney Dream now offers different sailings.
Home ports include Fort Lauderdale, New York, San Juan, Southhampton, and Barcelona. These cruises range in length from three to thirteen nights.
Other Things You’ll Find on the Disney Dream
In addition to everything we’ve also discussed, there are lots of other things you’ll find on the ship. These include a photo studio (where you can purchase the photos that are taken of you on the ship), a rebooking desk (book your next cruise while onboard and you’ll get a discount), a port adventure desk, a port shopping desk, and so much more.
There are also several shops onboard selling sundries and Disney merchandise. It’s important to know that these shops do not open when the ship is in port, only when it is sailing. It’s important to make sure you pack everything you need because it’s tough to buy essentials on board.

Meet the product designers behind the Donald Duck 90 merchandise
From apparel to jewelry and backpacks, Disney is releasing exclusive Donald Duck 90 merchandise in honor of the iconic character’s milestone anniversary. As we gear up for the celebration, meet two product designers who helped bring this product line to life!
- Focus: Bag, backpacks, and travel
- Focus: jewelry, timing and vision
What is your Disney story? Aimee Seth: “I began as an intern at Disney. Afterward, I worked for a few different licensee companies. Like Javier, I got to understand that side of the business. I have now been with back at Disney Consumer Products for 17 years.”
Becky Ormonde: “I've had such a pivotal journey here at Disney. My journey has taken me through different parts of the company, but always in consumer products. I’ve started in soft lines working on apparel, then in central creative and the toy team overseeing branding and packaging, and now I'm back home on soft lines.”
What Donald Duck 90 products did you work on? Aimee Seth: “[My team] worked with Loungefly to develop the Donald Duck 90th anniversary collection. Specifically, [the] accessories collection.”
Becky Ormonde: “My team worked on the Citizen watch collaboration for Donald Duck 90th Anniversary.”
What is the creative process like? Aimee Seth: “We work with our third-party brand commercialization partners. Loungefly typically participates in a lot of our Disney anniversaries. They’ve participated in Mickey's 90th Anniversary. [Donald Duck 90] was another anniversary that they wanted to partake in.”
Becky Ormonde: “The process is similar, and it truly takes a village to develop launches from beginning to end. My team and I work with our internal licensing team - aka brand commercialization team - as they start to work on the strategy for an anniversary. Citizen is one of our core licensees and a corporate alliance partner, and they often participate in many activations for consumer products and The Walt Disney Company. We will meet with Citizen and ask them their strategy and what their consumers are hoping to see from Disney. Once we nail down an approved strategy across all teams, we start to work on the creative to be used and drive against unique storytelling. This can take multiple rounds of revisions and updates. The process can take two to four months or longer from start to final approved product.”
What were the key elements that went into designing these products? Aimee Seth: “We wanted to take Donald Duck's characteristics and showcase them throughout the product line. Donald has this bold swagger about him. He's a showboating duck with a loud swag, and feathery trail, wearing a sailor suit, cap and bow tie. You'll see some of those key attributes of his costume, as well as storytelling elements such as ship anchors and nautical rope details, featured on the product.”
Becky Ormonde: “The team thought it would be great to focus on Donald in his eight-minute short 'Donald’s Better Self' where he is tempted by the anit-conscience (devil) and conscience (angel). At the end of the short, his angel conscience wins out, but we thought it also showed his key traits of being mischievous and short-tempered, which is quintessentially Donald.”
What was your favorite part of working on Donald Duck 90? Aimee Seth: “What was fun about Loungefly’s bags is this special feature which is a lenticular panel on the front. On one view you see a vintage, black-and-white Donald. When you turn it slightly, you see a modern-day, fully colored version of Donald.”
When will these products become available? Becky Ormonde: “The Donald Duck 90 Citizen watch collection will be released August-September in time for this Fall holiday season.”
Aimee Seth: “[Loungefly products are] available for pre-sale right now on their website.”
