England coach / bus tour reviews.

Love love love this tour. Greg was amazing, very knowledgeable., extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble for him. I have been on over 7 Trafalgar tours now, and Greg is one of the best directors I have encountered. Excellent experience.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. There were a couple of small hiccups, nothing is perfect, but our guide and our driver did a fantastic job of making the experience fun and meaningful. The only thing I would flag is that the group size is a bit large - we were 46 - which can sometimes make for slower travel. Otherwise, absolutely wonderful!
We had a great trip. Ouf tour guide Chris couldn’t have been mord pleasing, caring and committed to making our trip as enjoyable as possible. He was an excellent driver , very safe and mindful of our comfort. Also we were blessed with the flexibility of thd tour in very wet conditions.

The English Problem

When you want to explore England, it can be difficult to know where to start. There are many beautiful parts of England and loads of different things to do. Luckily, there are plenty of tour companies that offer coach tours and guided tours of the most popular destinations. Whether it’s for history, culture, or simply pleasure, England has something to offer everyone. There are so many things to do in England, everything from visiting castles to sampling local delicacies to taking in the natural beauty of the countryside. Some tours show you famous filming locations in England, whilst others focus on gardens or country houses. All coach tours are guided by a friendly tour guide who is full of local knowledge. It’s the perfect way to see England whilst learning more about this historical and stunning country.

Discover England

Take a fabulous coach tour and enjoy what this truly unique land has to offer. Explore the many historic cities, picturesque villages and coastal towns, and take in the lush green countryside and colourful rambling moors. You could start your tour in London, England’s capital, and spend a few days finding your way around this amazing and iconic city. Don’t forget to explore the many outstanding museums, and book a guided tour to get the most out of them. One of added bonuses of some London museums is the free admission, but donations are welcome. In the evening enjoy a West End Show, or soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the many bars and restaurants.

The Queen is at Home

Not far away from London is Windsor Castle, residence of The Queen and the largest lived in castle in the world. Similar to Buckingham Palace, you get a chance to see the Changing of the Guard at Windsor Castle as well as the tombs of past royalty including Charles I, Henry VIII and one of his wives, Jane Seymour. Further north, a few hours drive away is the city of York which is entrenched in history and must be explored when visiting England. Vikings, Romans and King Richard III, York has seen it all, and continues to be one of Britain’s most popular tourist destinations. Enjoy high tea at the iconic Betty’s or dare to take a ghost walk and guided tour through the medieval Snickelways of York, an array of narrow passageway and hidden alleyways.

Roman Bath Anyone?

Visit the historic city of Bath, famous for its Georgian architecture and natural hot springs. See the extraordinarily Roman Baths and Pump Room, built by the Romans and still beautifully preserved after 2,000 years. Take a guided tour around this exquisite city and be prepared to be amazed. You can’t visit England without a trip to Salisbury Plain to see Stonehenge. This prehistoric monument was first built around 5,000 years ago and has stood the test of time to provide wonder to generations of people. Discover the history and theories about this famous stone circle in the visitor centre and be enchanted by the mystery of the whole place.

Time for a Cream Tea

Devon & Cornwall are also a must see when visiting England. Renowned for tasty pasties and cream teas, the beauty of this area is truly outstanding. Take a coach trip to Land’s End, the most westerly point of Britain, and view the stunning St Michael’s Mount. Not far is the Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre which has been carved into the granite cliff and is quite a sight to behold. The seaside town of St. Ives is also a beautiful place to explore and maybe pick up a piece of art to remember it by. It can be guaranteed that any place you wish to visit in England will be remembered with great fondness for a very long time. For the more adventurous, Cornwall has some of the best surf beaches in the UK and we can arrange a lesson for you.

The people of England

The English character is reserved, quiet, and bit obsessed with the weather. You find characters with a creative imagination and an intelligent sense of humour. And you’ll get on well if you always say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.

The food (it's better than you thought)

There were jokes about English food. The neighbours laughed at the lack of spices and culinary nuances. But these comments aren’t relevant now. You can now gorge on delicious seafood, indulge in Michelin star restaurants, and eat sumptuous traditional pies.

A global wonder

England’s influence is immense. A fifth of the world’s population lived in their empire, and their language is officially spoken by 51 countries. This makes it fascinating to visit. You find museums of wonders, ornate palaces, and landscapes that surprise you at every turn.

good tour but the long transfer coach to Caen and return dampened things

I was a bit surprised to read some review of Leger, but this is my view of a recent tour to Normandy and WW2 battlefields. The Silver Service was excellent, the coach had a limited capacity, very comfortable and smooth riding. The drivers were safe friendly and skilled through the French side road and towns. Facilities on board were really good. Our tour guide was exceptional, very knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions. We only had 3 full days which was just about enough, but we had been in the area several times so it was nice to leave the driving to someone else-our group of 4 consisted of 2 x 75 and 2 x 80 yr We had all been to several other sites previously but the itinerary did not include some places which we would have liked to visit again. The hotel we used was very good, but the rooms were very tiny indeed. However the food was really good with plenty of selection for breakfast and dinner. Our chief complaint was the length of travel from our pickup point Banbury area, to Dover, and return and the long drive from Calais to Caen. Leger might consider using a ferry to Caen which would be more comfortable even if a bit more expensive. I am seriously considering taking the same tour next year with my son who has expressed a wish to go to Normandy.

Have arrived home from the D day landing tour guide was Ben and drivers Ash and Andy. I agree with another review unsure why so many negative comments as I went with my son and we absolutely loved the weekend. Ben was amazing his knowledge of D day is unbelievable. Drivers were fantastic nothing too much trouble. For the price it was fantastic. The only negative is the length of travel. Pick up was 0305 and we arrived at the hotel 2100hrs. I think I should have looked into that before booking but it did nothing to spoil the weekend but you have to be prepared for a long coach trip. The other coach passengers were all so friendly it was a lovely few days away. I know some people thought only having 30 or 40 mins at a historical spot a bit short but we appreciated the amount of things we saw. To have visited all the sites of D day from Pegasus bridge to Omaha beach in 2 days is amazing. My son and I feel privileged to have stood on those beaches and Ben certainly shares individual stories with the utmost respect. I’ve already booked a trip in sept with Leger. 10 out of 10 from me and my son!

Tulips and Amsterdam holiday In general a good trip although I thought we had a problem initially when the coach arrived, we were waiting at our pick up point when the coach pulled up the drivers didn't open the door for us and we had to wait in pouring rain at 0230 am until reluctantly they let us on board our seats were to the rear and we where the only passengers on board for the first 90 miles and not a word off the drivers .However once the coach filled they became quite jovial and professional. Our problem is the area in which we live ie North Wales is so far it took us 19 hours to reach our destination and even longer on return because the return coach drops off passengers from other tours,In total our journey home covered 592 miles which is far too much for a day. I would recommend an over night stay nearer to the South and pick up the next day, some of our fellow passengers would be home by lunch time and we still had another 12 hours to travel.Apart from that the hotel was good would recommend.

Excellent tour. Mick and Heidi our main tour drivers were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our tour guide Neal Russell was second to none. His knowledge of the tour subject and his passion for delivering the itinerary in an informative and interesting way made the tour experience Excellent a massive success with all the other passengers also. The only small downside was the long waiting time at Stop 24 but still didn't dampen the whole experience.

coach tours of england

I cannot understand some of the reviews on here that are so negative. Some people are misinformed, have got hold of the wrong end of the stick, or have somehow been rubbed up the wrong way. I have been on numerous Leger holidays and they have all been fabulous. You get the odd niggle, often out of Leger's control, some hotels are better than others. But the holidays I've had have been incredibly well organised, great experiences, generally helpful and knowledgeable drivers, great variety and I'm always looking forward to my next one. For a balanced picture I suggest people look at Trustpilot and go on the facebook sites - Leger Holidays Very Important Passengers, and Shearings Leger holidays jolly cheerful fan club. Yes there are a few complaints but if you scroll through the vast majority of people are very happy.

I decided to go on one of their air tours.Phoned last Saturday Was told they would have to contact the hotel for confirmation of availability of a single room.Seemed strange as I would have to pay a single supplement. On Monday someone phoned but as on my way out I said I would phone the next morning.Unable to speak to that person, but I received a message that they were still waiting to hear from the hotel.I sent an email saying that this had to be sorted out by Friday or forget it.The reply was the same as before, waiting for the hotel. Well today is Friday and I have given up waiting.I will do this trip on my own.I won't bother with Legers again.

"They’re literally going from tour to tour to tour" - Michael Hussey rules himself out of India coach job

Updated - 25 May 2024, 10:25 PM

Michael Hussey

Table of Contents

Former Australia batsman Michael Hussey has ruled himself out of contention to become Team India's head coach. The BCCI is currently looking for a new coach as Rahul Dravid's tenure will come to an end after the T20 World Cup next month.

The deadline to apply for the post is May 27 and there is still no clear favourite to become the next India head coach. Recently, the likes of Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer stated that they had received offers from the BCCI to become the head coach but they refused the offers. However, BCCI secretary Jay Shah categorically denied any approach from the board for the former Australian cricketers.

Apart from them, former New Zealand captain and current Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming is also linked with the high-profile job although the franchise's CEO Kasi Viswanathan recently hinted that it is unlikely to happen. The other candidates who are linked with the job are former India opener Gautam Gambhir and former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene .

Michael Hussey says no to India coaching job:

While Michael Hussey is not really in contention to be the next India head coach, he has stated that he would not accept the role even if he gets the opportunity. While Hussey is yet to coach a high-profile team, he is a part of CSK's backroom staff. He is also the head coach of Welsh Fire in The Hundred.

Hussey pointed out India's busy schedule and said that he is not ready to accept such a busy role at this stage of his life. He said that he likes his current schedule where he is involved with a franchise for a few weeks and also plies his trade as a commentator occasionally.

"They play more cricket than probably anyone in the world really, they’re literally going from tour to tour to tour. So that would be a pretty challenging sort of role where you’d have to be there, boots on the ground. You’re probably only getting the IPL off, which is eight to 10 weeks, but then the rest of the year you’re going to be pretty much on the go.

"Certainly as a full-time international coach, it’s not something at this stage of my life that I’m that keen on. Out of playing and even now, it’s not really on my radar, and I’m enjoying the balance of being able to coach as an assistant or head coach, and then doing a bit of media as well.

"I love that balance and still spending some time at home. You’d always like more time at home, but the bucket is pretty full at the moment," Hussey told ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’.

Team India have not appointed an overseas head coach since Duncan Fletcher's tenure ended in 2015. The last three head coaches for the team have been Indians and it won't be surprising if Dravid's replacement is an Indian as well.
