Unclear if "to-be-announced" is today or at some point later for the U.S. dates — check back for more information as it becomes available!

Full release, via brucespringsteen.net :

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will mark their return to the road in early February, 2023 with a string of to-be-announced US arena dates, followed by European stadium shows kicking off on April 28th in Barcelona and a second North American tour leg starting in August.

Said Springsteen: “After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year. And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year — and beyond.”

The planned European stops are Barcelona, Dublin, Paris, Ferrara, Rome, Amsterdam, Landgraaf, Zurich, Düsseldorf, Gothenburg, Oslo, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Vienna, Munich and Monza. Additional cities and shows in the UK and Belgium will be announced at a later date.

These 2023 dates will mark the first live shows for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band since the conclusion of their 14-month, worldwide The River Tour in Australia in February, 2017. The River Tour was named 2016’s top global tour by both Billboard and Pollstar.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band last reconnected to perform on Saturday Night Live in December 2020, where they launched live versions of two songs from their most recent studio album ‘Letter To You’ (Columbia Records), which reached #1 in eleven countries and marked the band’s first time recording live together in decades. Last year, Springsteen unveiled his never-before-released “The Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts” film, collaborated with President Barack Obama on the book ‘Renegades: Born In The USA’ and reprised his record setting show ‘Springsteen On Broadway’ to help reopen New York City theaters last summer.

The E Street Band’s members are: Roy Bittan – piano, synthesizer; Nils Lofgren – guitar, vocals; Patti Scialfa – guitar, vocals; Garry Tallent – bass guitar; Stevie Van Zandt – guitar, vocals; and Max Weinberg – drums; with Soozie Tyrell – violin, guitar, vocals; Jake Clemons – saxophone; and Charlie Giordano – keyboards.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Announce 2023 World Tour

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are launching a long-awaited world tour in February 2023 with a run of U.S. arena shows. Dates and cities for those concerts have yet to be announced. Check out brucespringsteen.net for ticketing information.

“After six years, I’m looking forward to seeing our great and loyal fans next year,” Springsteen said in a statement. “And I’m looking forward to once again sharing the stage with the legendary E Street Band. See you out there, next year — and beyond.”

The musicians will start a European stadium leg April 28, 2023 in Barcelona, and follow it up with a second North American tour in August. In addition to Barcelona, the European tour will hit cities including London, Dublin, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Zurich, Gothenburg, Oslo, Copenhagen, Vienna and Munich. Cities and shows for the UK and Belgium will be announced at a later date.

The tour will mark Springsteen’s first concerts with the E Street Band since February 2017, when they wrapped up their River tour in Australia. During the downtime, Springsteen released 2019’s Western Stars and 2020’s Letter to You , reprised his Springsteen on Broadway show, and co-hosted the Renegades: Born in the USA podcast with President Barack Obama.

This is the longest break the E Street Band have taken from the road since reforming in 1999. The band’s sole recent public performance took place on Dec. 20, 2020, when they played two songs on Saturday Night Live — but bassist Garry Tallent and violinist/guitarist Soozie Tryell sat it out due to Covid restrictions. They’ll be back in the fold for this tour, alongside pianist Roy Bittan, guitarist Nils Lofgren, guitarist Steve Van Zandt, drummer Max Weinberg, saxophonist Jake Clemons, and keyboardist Charlie Giordano.

Springsteen and the E Street Band were originally slated to tour this year, and planning was so far along that an advertisement for a June 2022 show at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany was spotted at a bus stop — but the tour was ultimately delayed a year. While no official reason was given for the postponement, the decision came just as Covid numbers were spiking due to the Omicron variant.

Springsteen has remained busy in the years since he last went on the road with Stevie Van Zandt, Max Weinberg, Patti Sciafla, Roy Bittan, Gary Tallent, Nils Lofgren, and the rest. He launched a Broadway show , which got an accompanying Netflix film and earned him a Lifetime Achievement Tony Award .

Springsteen also released two solo albums: 2019’s Western Stars and 2020’s Letter to You , which both also got accompanying films. He starred in a Jeep commercial that aired during the Super Bowl , too, and was briefly pulled after news emerged of a DWI charge (which was later dismissed ). He also put out a podcast and book with former President Barack Obama. Last year, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s Legendary 1979 No Nukes Concerts was released as an album and film.

Springsteen announced the dates for his 2023 European tour in May, explaining on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio that after nearly five years off the road it was time for him to get the band back together. “It’s kind of mind boggling to be honest with you… IT doesn’t feel that long, but,  you know, we stayed busy over that time, but still it’s, I’m really, I’ve got the Jones to play live very badly at this point,” Springsteen said of getting back at it with the band for the first time since they recorded 2020’s  Letter to You  album. “So, I’m deeply looking forward to getting out there in front of our fans.”

The group is gearing up to hit the road for the first time since the conclusion of their 14-month global River Tour, which kicked off in 2016. According to a release announcing the new dates, since the 2023 European dates were announced in May more than 1.2 million tickets have already been sold. After the end of the European run — scheduled for April-July 2023 — the band will begin a second as-yet-unannounced string of North American shows in August; tour dates in the UK are also slated for next year, with the details to be announced soon.

Bruce Springsteen Postpones 4 Shows in Europe Due to ‘Vocal Issues’

The ‘Born to Run’ singer had returned to the stage in March after missing shows due to peptic ulcer disease

Bruce Springsteen is taking a doctor-ordered break.

The "Born to Run" singer, 74, has postponed four European dates of his E Street Band 2024 World Tour due to “vocal issues.”

A statement shared on Springsteen’s Instagram account read, "Following yesterday’s postponement in Marseille due to vocal issues, further examination and consulting has led doctors to determine that Bruce should not perform for the next ten days."

The note also said the shows for Airport Letnany in Prague, Czech Republic, and San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy, scheduled for May 28 and June 1 and 3, have also been postponed.

"New dates for these shows will be announced shortly," the note added along with instructions for ticket holders to request refunds from their point of purchase.

"Bruce is recuperating comfortably and he and the E Street Band look forward to resuming their hugely successful European stadium tour on June 12 in Madrid at the magnificent Civitas Metropolitan,” the statement concluded.

The comment section lit up with fans expressing their well-wishes for the rock singer, leaving comments like, "Rest up Bruce, we will wait as long as needed," and "Get well soon, Boss!"

Throughout the tour, Springsteen also has stops in Barcelona, Spain; Nijmegen, Netherlands; Hannover, Germany; and Stockholm, Sweden; among others cities.

In 2023, Springsteen postponed several tour dates in September due to peptic ulcer disease . He returned to the stage in March in Phoenix, Ariz.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in November, E Street Band guitarist Steven Van Zandt called the first six months of their tour “maybe our most intense ever.”

"And so we're gonna come back with that same intensity, and it's gonna be great," he teased.

Prior to September 2023, the tour had postponed several tour dates including three in March 2023 "due to illness" and two in August 2023 because Springsteen was " taken ill ."

The setlist for the tour includes a variety of songs from Springsteen’s lengthy career, including "Prove It All Night," "Born to Run" and "Badlands," as well as covers of "Because the Night" by Patti Smith Group and "Nightshift" by the Commodores.

Last month, Springsteen cracked a joke about the string of cancelations on Curb Your Enthusiasm when he joined  Larry David to talk about his activism in Atlanta. During a conversation at a kitchen table, the pair broke into an argument over mixing up each other's water glasses. Later in the episode, David tested positive for COVID — and so does Springsteen.

Because of his illness on the show, the singer fictionally postponed several tour dates, which drew an angry mob of fans outside his home. "They think I'm dying from the COVID I got from you," Springsteen said of them to David.

Bruce Springsteen

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed three upcoming shows in Prague and Milan, “under doctor’s direction,” Springsteen announced Sunday on Instagram .

The move comes after the iconic musician had to reschedule a planned concert in Marseille on Saturday “due to vocal issues.”

Now, “further examination and consulting has led doctors to determine that Bruce should not perform for the next 10 days,” Springsteen wrote on Instagram.

Springsteen, the post said, “is recuperating comfortably,” with the European tour resuming June 12 in Madrid.

Last fall Springsteen and the E Street Band had to postpone all of their 2023 tour dates to the following year due to Springsteen’s peptic ulcer disease, for which he underwent treatment and was recovering from last year.

At the time, Springsteen told fans, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”

Prior to that, Springsteen had postponed and canceled multiple dates due to health issues.

Following the postponement of their concert in Marseilles, on Saturday, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are rescheduling three more shows under “doctor’s direction,” as the singer continues to suffer “vocal issues.” The band’s European stadium tour is scheduled to resume on June 12 in Madrid, Spain.

Popular on Variety

Last September, Springsteen postponed multiple dates on the group’s North American tour due to a peptic ulcer, and although he completed those dates earlier this year, he has struggled with voice problems. During his appearance at the Ivor Awards in London last week, he noted those issues but blamed them on playing an outdoor show in “hellacious weather” in the Northern British city of Sunderland the night before, and made light of them.

Despite his health challenges, Springsteen and the band have been in fine form during the tour, which features a slightly altered setlist from last year’s dates. Springsteen said on SiriusXM back in March, “There will be some things from last year’s tour that will hold over; some of my basic themes of mortality and life and those things, you know, I’m going to keep set… (But) I think I’m gonna move around the other parts of the set a lot more, so there’ll be a much wider song selection going on. So we’re looking at it like it’s a little bit of the old tour, but we’re looking at it like a new tour.”

Days after Bruce Springsteen announced he was postponing his European performances due to “ vocal issues ,” he broke his silence on social media to share a message with fans.

On Sunday, Springsteen, 74, posted a video of himself on Instagram from Marseille, France.

“We will be back,” he wrote in the caption of the post in which he speaks to the camera: “Hey, this is Bruce Springsteen. I’m in Marseille. Unfortunately, I could not sing for you but we will be back to Marseille, to Prague and to Milan to give you the show of your life. That I promise you.”

“In the meantime, I’d like to thank our Irish fans, our British fans, and our fans in Wales for giving us a series of shows that were deeply memorable and we just had great times there,” he continued. “We’ll be back, coming back to Madrid and Barcelona where we plan to rock you into the ground! Alright, be seeing you soon. Bye-bye.”

Springsteen first postponed his May 25 performance with the E Street Band in Marseille, but then had to postpone three more dates on doctor’s orders.

“Further examination and consulting has led doctors to determine that Bruce should not perform for the next 10 days,” the posts said.

The shows that were scheduled on May 28 in Prague, and June 1 and 3 in Milan, will be rescheduled. New dates for the shows will be “announced shortly,” the posts said.

Springsteen’s next performance will be on June 12 in Madrid, his social media accounts said.

In March, Springsteen said his 2023 bout with peptic ulcer disease , which forced him to postpone more than 20 performances last year, was so severe he feared he’d never sing again.

“You’re thinking like, ‘Hey, am I going to sing again?’ This is one of one of the things I love to do the best, the most, and right now I can’t do it,” he said on a call with SiriusXM’s E Street Radio channel. “I found some great doctors and they straightened me out, and I can’t do anything but thank them.”

Bruce Springsteen and E Street postpone four European concerts amid 'vocal issues'

bruce springsteen european tour 2023

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed four European shows as Springsteen deals with “vocal issues.”

Springsteen is “recuperating comfortably,” according to the Boss' social media.

Concerts May 28 at the Letnany Airport in Prague and June 1 and 3 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan have been postponed, according to an announcement on Springsteen's socials on Sunday, a day after he postponed a May 25 performance in Marseille, France.

“Following yesterday's postponement in Marseille due to vocal issues, further examination and consulting has led doctors to determine that Bruce should not perform for the next ten days,” the statement read. “With this in mind, additional postponements are required for Airport Letnany in Prague (originally scheduled for May 28) and San Siro Stadium in Milan (originally scheduled for June 1 and 3).

"New dates for these shows will be announced shortly. Those wishing a refund will be able to obtain it at their original point of purchase. Bruce is recuperating comfortably, and he and the E Street Band look forward to resuming their hugely successful European stadium tour on June 12 in Madrid at the magnificent Civitas Metropolitan.”

Bruce Springsteen setlist 2024: Every song he sang at world tour relaunch in Phoenix

Springsteen postponed multiple shows last year during a bout with peptic ulcer disease. The 24 postponed performances have been rescheduled, and more stadium dates in Europe and two shows in the U.S., have been added.

The strength of Springsteen's voice has been noted by fans since the E Street Band's tour resumed March 19 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. The Asbury Park Press wrote that there “were sweetly sustained notes on 'Letter to You,' core-rocking earthy growls on 'Seeds,' and majestic intonations on 'The Promised Land' “ at the April 12 concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Springsteen and the E Street Band last played May 22 at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, England, in what reports called a chilly and rainy day. The Boss also sang “Thunder Road” when he received an Ivor Novello Award for songwriting on May 23 in London. The BBC said his voice was “hoarse and squeaky” at the ceremony.

“We came out last night, and I was like, 'What is this weather? Driving rain, wind roaring,’ ” Springsteen said at the event. “But standing in front of me, in the rain, I realized: These are my people.”
