DRIVING TO SENECA LAKE

From points north, you will probably take the New York State Thruway (Route 90) to Route 14 south, which will bring you to the northern tip of Seneca Lake and the city of Geneva.

From points south, you will probably take Route 86/The Southern Tier Expressway to Route 14 or Route 414 North to the southern tip of Seneca Lake and the village of Watkins Glen.

FLYING TO SENECA LAKE 

If you want to fly into the region, there are smaller regional airports within an hour driving distance including Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport and Elmira Corning Regional Airport. If you are willing to drive a bit further, Frederick Douglass Rochester International Airport is about an hour and 15 minutes from the north end of Seneca Lake and Syracuse Hancock International Airport is about an hour and 15 minutes from the north end of Seneca Lake.

Conveniently located within nine miles of each other in Bullitt County, KY, these seven stops offer a distinctive sensory experience—complete with guided or self-guided tours and tastings—that visitors can enjoy at their own pace. Start your spirited journey by reserving distillery tours online as they frequently sell out. Click on the distillery names here to make reservations: James B Beam Distilling Co and Four Roses Warehouse & Bottling . The wineries and brewery can be visited at your leisure and do not require reservations.

The Wine, Whiskey & Ale Trail is a self-guided tour experience. Please taste and tour responsibly. Plan a designated driver or use one of the transportation/guide recommendations below.

Here’s how it works: Get the Wine, Whiskey & Ale Trail Passport in one of these three ways: (1) download the digital passport on this page, (2) pick up the brochure at any of the seven stops on the trail, or (3) contact Shepherdsville-Bullitt County Tourism and request a brochure be mailed to you.

If you have a digital passport, it will prompt you to ‘Check In’ when you are on each property. If you have the brochure, have it stamped at each location. After visiting all seven locations, redeem your passport at either the Bullitt County Visitor Center or Forest Edge Winery – both are less than 1.5 miles, east off I-65 Exit 112.  We will be waiting with your complimentary souvenir glass!

Bourbon Trail Location Accommodations

Bourbon Trail

It is roughly 250 miles.

Show your Kentucky Bourbon Trail® or Craft Tour passport and ask about the discounts and special offers at your many stops along the Bourbon Trail.

There are 18 signature distilleries, like James B. Beam Distilling Co., and 17 craft distilleries on the Bourbon Trail.

All of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail distilleries charge a fee for a tour or a tasting.

It is highly recommended to book your tours online and in advance. Most distilleries have online booking options. Specialty tours require reservations. (Angel’s Envy is a reservation only distillery.)

All distilleries require you to be at least 21 to sample their products if they offer tastings, but anyone is welcome to tour the distilleries. You must be 21 participate in the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® Passport Program.

Shepherdsville is the trailhead. These distilleries are located within 80 miles of Louisville, mostly clustered between Louisville and Lexington.

The Bourbon Trail is between I75, KY 9002, I64 and I65.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, 6 hours from Atlanta.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, 5 hours from Chicago.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, is just 2 hours from Cincinnati.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, 4 hours from Columbus.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, 3 hours from Dayton.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, 6 hours from Detroit.

The trailhead, Shepherdsville, is just 2 hours from Nashville.

Shepherdsville is a day drive, is just 2 hours from Indianapolis.

In Lexington there is one (1) of the Bourbon Trail stops  – Town Branch.

In Louisville there are five (5) Bourbon Trail stops – Bulleit – Angels Envy – Old Forester – Jim Beam Urban Stillhouse & Evan Williams.

Louisville is just 2 hours from Lexington.

A visually stunning property in Sonoma, the Donum Estate is part wine space, part experiential gallery featuring The Donum Collection, one of the world's largest accessible private sculpture collections. Trip Summary

Exclusive Amarone wine tour

These three and four day packages offer the ultimate luxurious Veneto experience. Based at the superb 5* Villa Cordevigo, guests will enjoy a flawless service and high-end facilities, as well as experiencing premium tours and tastings at highly-regarded local Valpolicella and Amarone wineries.

Upon arrival in the Veneto region, check into your preferred room grade at the picturesque 5* Villa Cordevigo. The Villa offers a wide range of luxurious facilities, including an outdoor swimming pool, a lounge bar, and a wellness centre, nestled in the Veneto vineyards. Villa Cordevigo also boasts an on-site winery, and a tasting session of five of the estate’s wines, including an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico and a Soave Classico, will be arranged for you on the afternoon of your arrival. The evening will then be free for you to do as you please. We would be delighted to recommend and reserve you local a restaurant for dinner.

On the morning of day two, after breakfast, you will be met at the Villa by a specialist driver/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day on a private basis. You will be taken to the renowned Valpolicella production area, and your guide will regale you with tales and anecdotes of the history of Veneto and its vineyards, introducing you to the particularities of the region.

Valpolicella wines are primarily made with Corvina grapes with small additions of other grape varieties, and range from light to medium bodied red wines with aromas of cherry, raspberry, plum and violet. The area also produces the renowned Amarone della Valpolicella; rich, dense wines with aromas of black cherry, figs, dark chocolate, molasses, wood smoke, orange and clove.

Today, you will visit two premium wineries for full tours of the wine-making facilities, learning about the local wine-making methods, and tasting extensive examples of the estates’ wines. A delicious lunch of local dishes paired with Veneto wines will also be arranged. You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the day.

In the evening, a six course wine pairing dinner will be served in the hotel’s Michelin-starred Oseleta restaurant. Chef Marco Marras focuses on seasonal, traditional flavours whilst combining simplicity and excellence.

After breakfast on day three, your driver/guide will return, this time to take you to the beautiful Lake Garda. Your guide will firstly take you to the historic village of Sirmione. You will be taken on a tour of this charming, picturesque little village before enjoying a 30 minute private boat tour of the peninsula. At midday, lunch paired with wines will be served in a local restaurant. After lunch, you will have the opportunity to further explore the village independently, perhaps do a bit of shopping or enjoy a gelato by the Lake. You will be taken back to your hotel in the late afternoon.

The remainder of the afternoon and evening will be free for you to enjoy the Villa’s luxurious facilities, taking a dip in the swimming pool or relaxing at the spa. As always, we would be delighted to reserve you a table for dinner if required.

Outline Itinerary

Day One of your Amarone Wine Tour

• Upon arrival in the region, check into your preferred room grade at the 5* Villa Cordevigo.
• A tasting session of five of the estate’s wines will be arranged in the afternoon.
• The evening will be free for you to do as you please.

Day Two of your Amarone Wine Tour

• In the morning, you will be met at the Villa by a private driver/guide, who will accompany you throughout the day. Today you will be taken to the Valpolicella production area. Your tour day will comprise of:
• Tours and tastings at two premium producers
• A delightful lunch with drinks
• You will be taken back to the Villa at the end of the tour.
• In the evening, a six course wine pairing dinner will be served in the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant.

Day Three (Optional) of your Amarone Wine Tour

• Today, your driver/guide will return, this time to take you to Lake Garda. Your day will comprise of:
• A tour of the charming village of Sirmione,
• A private boat tour of the peninsula
• Lunch with drinks in a local restaurant,
• Some free time to explore independently.
• You will be taken back to the Villa in the afternoon.
• The remainder of the afternoon and evening will then be free for you to enjoy the hotel’s superb facilities.
• As always, we would be pleased to reserve you a table for dinner if required.

Final Day of your Amarone Wine Tour

• After a leisurely breakfast, check out of the hotel.

FYI....if we could give a 10 we would. This wine tour goes to the best wineries in Sonoita and Elgin. From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. We had a little "hickup" at our original pickup location. We accidentally got on the wrong bus. The issue was resolved at the first winery and Anthony had to leave the rest of our tour group at the BEST pizza place and drive back to the winery where we accidentally ended up. Then he drove the 2 of us back to the pizza place, re-ordered our pizza and the rest of our tour group was also accommodating by not rushing us. We had such fun and the group with us was celebrating a 21 year old birthday..... Thanks Anthony...

My sister used AZ wine hops touring for my Bachelorette party. Andy was our driver and he was amazing and took such good care of us. Not only was he our personal photographer whenever we needed it, but he looked out for us everywhere we went. As 6 girls drinking around town, he made sure we were safe and all stuck together. The bus was awesome and has a really nice sound system that we attached our phones to. My girls and I plan on using Andy and AZ Wine Hops Touring again for my wedding, and again in a few months for a wine tour in Senoita. I highly highly recommend this company for any event!!

We chose AZ Wine Hops Touring because they were highly responsive and had great google reviews. We did the Wine Tour option for a Bachelorette Party and it was the best experience! The Wine Tour included transportation, lunch, beverages/snacks, and the wine tastings! It was honestly a steal for the price and we will definitely be using them again in the future. We had the pleasure of having Anthony as our guide and he did amazing and made all the women in our group feel comfortable. 10/10 experience!
