My first trip with The Travel Yogi (Galapagos Islands, Ecuador, November 2022) was a trip of a lifetime. The setting was magical; the accommodations superb and sustainable; the food fabulous and locally sourced; the other "yogi travelers" in the small group were fun and like-minded; and the itinerary was full of only-in-Galapagos animal and nature adventures and awesome yoga classes often overlooking at least a dozen giant tortoises in the field below the open-air studio. I cannot recommend The Travel Yogi enough--from the unique and exclusive eco-luxury itineraries to the professionalism, responsiveness and attention to detail of its staff--they know what they're doing. Several people on the Galapagos trip were repeat The Travel Yogi customers, with at least four or five trips (so far) in their passports. I understand why they keep booking with The Travel Yogi, and I also plan to enjoy many more The Travel Yogi experiences in the years to come.

I have led a whopping 10 yoga retreats with The Travel Yogi and honestly would never partner with anyone else. Every detail is taken care of and as quickly as possible. Great pre-planning, handling of clients and financial, amazing organization of excursions, and commitment to making students happy and satisfied. Kenya was downright exceptional. Every moment from the glamping 'tents' to returning from safari to cool scented cloths to wipe the dirt off. Everything is planned. I will be heading to Bhutan in February and cannot wait to experience the love and planning for this once in a lifetime journey. Again, I'd never trust anyone else with my more than 15 year career and reputation. Who you partner with matters and I couldn't be more lucky than to have The Travel Yogi part of my team!

The Travel Yogi specializes in experiencing the location you visit, with morning and evening yoga thrown in - rather than yoga being the focus of the trip. The first trip I ever took with The Travel Yogi was to Sri Lanka and I was stunned by the places they chose to show me, by how well curated the itinerary was, and how perfect the pacing. Then disaster struck: a terrorist attack in Colombo. If you think you learn about the measure of a company during a magical vacation, wait to see how much you learn in the middle of an international crisis. The local team was steady, wise, informed and wonderful - despite the fact that everything was 100% uncertain, was happening in their country and directly impacted their own livelihood - and made me feel totally safe. I cannot recommend The Travel Yogi enough. I was already impressed with their sensitivity, their team and their choices, but now, in the face of a terrorist attack I am also impressed with their compassion, their decision making abilities and how accountable they were in a situation that was in no one's control. I trust them completely and plan to take every single one of the trips they offer.

WOW. Four incredible retreats with The Travel Yogi. Mexico, Kenya, Iceland and France. Each has been special and unique. The experiences you have on retreat are so much different than if you had planned a trip to that location on your own. I've done excursions in each location that I would have never thought of on my own! The service and information provided by TTY before hand, during and after each trip leaves nothing to question. I've made lifelong friendships and unforgettable experiences thanks to The Travel Yogi! The only thing left to question is.. where will I go with them next?

I just returned home from an extraordinary 8 day yoga retreat with The Travel Yogi in Bali!!!! This may have been the best vacation I have ever taken and I travel at least 4-5 times / year. This was also my 4th retreat with The Travel Yogi and I have never had less than an amazing experience. The trips are all planned with every detail fine tuned including transportation, amazing meals, knowledgeable guides, exquisite accommodations, phenomenal yoga teachers (Alexa Silvaggio is the all time best!!!!), immersion into local culture and extra adventures that allow you to see the beauty of your destination. I would never be able to plan a trip to these locations that would include all of the elements that The Travel Yogi includes because they make themselves experts on each destination to create the most magical and fulfilling experience. I have made lifetime friends thru these trips and always come back saying "where will I go next with The Travel Yogi". I highly recommend anyone book a trip with The Travel Yogi and then just pack your bags and bring your sense of adventure!!!! (my previous retreats - Mexico, Panama and Bhutan)

As I get ready to go on my 3rd Travel Yogi retreat in 12 months, I thought it was about time to share how much I have loved traveling with them. My first retreat was in May 2015 and I was excited but had no idea what to expect, as it was my first yoga retreat. I knew the incredible teacher that was leading the trip, but other than that I went in without expectation and came out over the moon. The accommodations were beautiful and every detail of the trip was organized and attended to with great care. The food was fresh, healthy and made using local ingredients. Each meal was better than the last. We also had excursions that were so fun. We swam in Ceynotes, snorkeled and swam with sea turtles and spent a day in a Mayan Village cooking and learning about local culture and customs. The yoga was incredible! The brilliant Alexa was able to provide challenging classes that had variations for all levels of practice. She also guided us thru some of the most beautiful meditative and restorative practices. The trip was a total refresh and I came home looking and feeling amazing. After my first experience, it was not a matter of if, it was a matter of when I would be going on another retreat with the Travel Yogi again. I just got back from my most recent retreat about a month ago. I went to Panama to the most incredible remote location. Again, every detail of the trip was attended to. The location of the retreat was at a luxurious resort off the beaten path and in the midst of the most breath taking landscape with rolling mountains and lush green forest surrounding a expansive private beach. Again, the food was so incredible and healthy. There was a surf school that was on site and I was able to tap into the playful fun of a carefree child. Again, the yoga was incredible. I can honestly say this was one of the best trips of my life. In a few short months I will be heading to Asia with the Travel Yogi and I am have no doubt that this trip will be one of a lifetime. The Travel Yogi takes care of all of the annoying details and opens the door for a blissful experience without worrying about things like how, when where and what. All you have to do is show up. I highly recommend traveling with The Travel Yogi, but just beware it is addictive!!!!

Jen & Courtney are amazing! Very professional, have phenomenon attention to detail - they curated an epic trip for our crew in magical & mystical Iceland! I have enjoyed all interaction with these ladies - emails, the pre-departure information, and ofcourse the time we spent in Iceland! It was nice having the little things all taken care off so we could just relax and be present and soak in what Iceland has to offer. I found this adventure with The Travel Yogi in Iceland to be a refreshing for the soul. Iceland is a place unlike any I've ever visited. Yoga with Alice was oh so delicious - and with Tyffi, the best tour guide in the world - we saw majestic glaciers grind their way through cracked lava fields, gushing geysers explode with a powerful force, glittering ice caps pierce the sky as we rested in the mist of geothermal lagoons (which is like swimming in a warm cloud). Thanks Travel Yogi for making this a trip of a lifetime!

Our trip with The Travel Yogi to Iceland was definitely the most fun and best vacation adventure I've ever been privileged to enjoy! Rosie was more wonderful than I could have imagined ahead of time. She had a beautiful presence about herself. Rosie communicated valuable spiritual concepts, provided excellent yoga work and guidance, had great sense of humor and helped make the entire experience really unforgettable. I enjoyed meeting our travel mates: Lucy, Melanie, Sarah, Karen, Pierre, Robert, and Elizabeth - and experiencing Iceland with them. I appreciated the smooth transportation arrangements to and from the airport to Reykjavík. The food tour with Woody was a lot of fun and a great experience. Tyffi was the best! We enjoyed all of the experiences traveling around the countryside of Iceland. The Hotel Leirubakki was a bit "spartan" in it's accommodations - and one room was suitable for one person not two. Otherwise everything about the accommodation with Yoga room, meals served and their quality was just dandy. We would certainly plan to experience future adventures with The Travel Yogi and Rosie Acosta.

Without the doubt the most aware, in the know, and ON IT retreat company out there. Providing amazing experiences all over the planet in a non touristy way... what a gift.

"Because I knew you, my life has been changed for good." Thank you to Jennifer and Courtney at The Travel Yogi for making my retreat to Panama a life altering experience. They do what they say and they say what they do. No Stone was left unturned, all the I's were dotted and the T's crossed. I am extremely fortunate that I learned about The Travel Yogi at a young age and am looking forward to my next retreat with them- Buen Provecho!

Full disclosure: I have just returned from leading a yoga retreat (as the yoga teacher) with The Travel Yogi. In the past, I planned my own retreats, so I know firsthand of the meticulous details that must be addressed in planning a yoga retreat. It was wonderful to partner with The Travel Yogi for my retreat to Panama as all these details were taken care of. Jen and Courtney do a fabulous job with all the organization required for an international yoga retreat. There is an unparalleled level of professionalism and care - they are quick to respond to any and all questions/concerns, and make sure all "t"s are crossed and "i"s are dotted. From the moment our group arrived in Panama we were well cared for. Every driver, tour guide, hotel employee, etc., who worked with us was punctual, professional and a pleasure to get to know. The retreat itself was so well planned out, with a great balance of excursions and rest. The Travel Yogi is the premiere yoga and adventure company, and I'm excited to lead more retreats with them. If you love yoga and want to participate in an adventure abroad where you safely and comfortably experience the beauty of a new country, then you must consider The Travel Yogi. So much gratitude to these hardworking ladies!

The Travel Yogi Iceland 🇮🇸 Yoga 🧘‍♀️ Retreat

I just recently returned from a totally awesome vacation to Iceland. It was my first time visiting Iceland, so I really did not know what to expect. My yoga teacher, Jennifer Prugh was leading a group with The Travel Yogi. We met Gunnsi from Season Tours on our second day of the retreat. Right off the bat, Gunnsi was professional and very knowledgeable about his subject, Iceland. He took us to some places that ordinary tours companies probably would not have gone to, like the fish drying racks and to the bra fence (which was one of my favorites!). Listening to Gunnsi talk about his beloved Iceland was a special treat. I really felt like I had insider information about Icelandic culture, history and it’s beautiful people. Gunnsi is the perfect representation of Iceland, intelligent, adaptable, easygoing and very humorous. We went to some amazing sites, the Blue Lagoon, waterfalls, geysers and we stayed at an Icelandic horse farm with yummy food. Gunnsi was even up for evening card games with the group after long days of touring. Gunnsi from Season Tours is a treasure who should not be buried, but shared, so he can spread some Icelandic joy to all. Thanks for magic!

Good to know I am better above ground than 6ft under 🤣 It was a pleasure to have this Yoga group on a tour and showing you my beautiful country. I know I will see many of you again in Iceland in the near future and I look forward to that. Your friend in Iceland Gunnsi

Gunnar with Season Tours was amazing! Organized, passionate and extremely knowledgeable. We will definitely be using Season Tours when we go back to see North Iceland.

Thank you for your kind words and I look forward to showing you the north in the midnight sun.

I had a fun and memorable trip with Gunnsi of Season Tours. I learned so much history and culture about Iceland from him. He also made me laugh a lot. Further, he took amazing photos of the Northern Lights. I would highly recommend Season Tours with Gunnsi.

Thank you for your kind words and laughing 🤣 Hope to see you again on our tours. All the best Gunnsi

Visiting Iceland has been a dream of mine for many years and my dream came true November 2019. This trip was a Yoga event, however it included a great deal of sightseeing in, around and outside of Reykjavik. The highlight for me was the five full days we spent with the outstanding touring company, Season Tours. Our guide was one of its owners, Gunnar (Gunnsi) Gunnarsson. Our tour with him included many breathtaking locations and activities ... hiking to waterfalls, geysers, a glacier, rivers, Black Sand Beach, a crater, Icelandic horse riding, the Northern Lights and of course the Blue Lagoon! That said, it wasn’t just the sights that impressed me, but also Gunnsi's knowledge of all the areas we visited where he shared history, culture, stories, myths and FUN! It is quite clear that Gunnsi enjoys and loves what he does. He made all of us feel welcomed in his beautiful country of warm, friendly and happy people and this experience with Season Tours will be with me for a very long time. If you plan to visit Iceland, definitely book with Season Tours. You won’t be disappointed! THIS WAS MY WINTER WONDERLAND!

Thank you for your beautiful words. It's easy to be a guide for people who are fun and curious. Until next time. Gunnsi

We had a wonderful trip thanks to Gunnsi at Season Tours. He shared Icelandic stories, adventures, history and more laughing with us all the way. I’d recommend Season Tours absolutely. Thanks Gunnsi

the travel yogi reviews

Thank you for your wonderful review. Hope to see you again in Iceland

We did the 8-day tour around Iceland with Season tours the last week of September 2019. The tour covered the Golden Circle sites, South Coast, East Fjords, Lake Myvatn, a dairy farm, a glacier hike, and much more. The tour also covered several locations with fewer tourists such as Petra's stone museum, the Troll Wall, and a local hot tub in nature with water from nearby geothermal boreholes. Why take a guided tour around Iceland when you can just drive yourself? There's a lot to see in Iceland. You’ll never know what you missed if you take a wrong turn. I wanted to focus on seeing Iceland – not translating Icelandic road signs. Also, the guides know the driving times between sites and when the big tour groups are likely to be there. Our guide’s knowledge of this helped us to avoid the biggest crowds at popular sites. If you do choose to drive yourself, bring a paper map, or download offline maps before your trip. Cell phone service can be poor in some areas. The Season Tours bus was a modern comfortable 7-passenger van with on-board wi-fi. During our tour, we were the only two guests, so it was like a private tour. We had two guides during our tour due to scheduling conflicts. The change of guides did not affect our experience in the least. Helle and Gunnar were wonderful hosts that shared their knowledge of Iceland’s geography and culture. One attraction that most visitors are interested to see are the Northern Lights (aurora borealis). Our guides were acutely aware of this. They monitored for predicted activity, and offered to wake us during the night if aurora activity was likely. One evening Gunnar woke us and we drove to a nearby field away from light pollution for a better view. The Northern Lights can be a spectacular show, but also difficult to capture with a mobile phone camera Our guides had the experience and gear to capture several amazing photos for us, including animated gifs that show the motion of the lights All accommodations were arranged by Season Tours. The hotel staff and restaurants at the accommodations were pre-screened by Season Tours. Accommodations ranged from a small county farm house (Hotel Anna), the modern Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon, and ranch style Hofsstadir Guesthouse. All accommodations included breakfast and dinner at the hotel restaurant was included in the tour (excluding alcoholic drinks). Finally, we tasted many unique local foods on our tour. We tasted Icelandic licorice candy, fish jerky, Minke whale, Reindeer, wolf fish (catfish), lobster, and moss soup. Haddock, cod, and lamb are the most popular menu items. One especially interesting item available at breakfast was a bottle of cod liver oil. Some Icelanders take it in the morning as a nutritional supplement. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Iceland with Season Tours.

THE TRAVEL YOGI

Yoga Adventures

What are yoga adventures.

Yoga adventures with The Travel Yogi are life-changing experiences, focused on adventure and immersion—with dynamic yoga classes as our balancing anchor. While our yoga adventures can and will be many different things, here are two resolute things they always are:

Consciously Crafted

Our yoga adventures are consciously crafted because w e know these countries, we know our partners, and we listen to our travelers. We think through the flow, details, and experience for you, the traveler, as well as the impact we have on the local communities and environment . We build relationships and partnerships with locals. All of this amounts to a more local, more authentic, and more impactful journey for our travelers, for our local partners, and for the world we want our kids to be able to explore.

Culturally Immersive

Our yoga adventures are culturally immersive because 1) we seek new and immersive experiences in order to grow and 2) we travel to experience new cultures (to be taught and shown how they do it there, not how we do it here) . Respect, humility, and curiosity are the foundation upon which we build each adventure and immerse you, our amazing world travelers (or galactic travelers, if you’re into Yoga Nidra). On our yoga adventures, be ready to learn the words, customs, food, and culture of new places.
