New York (Taylor's Version): This NYC Walking Tour Is A Must For Any Swiftie

Swift at Madison Square Garden

Welcome to New York, it's been waiting for you, Swifties. Dubbed one of the best U.S. destinations for music lovers , New York is a must-visit locale for anyone who loves to groove. Home to Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, and plenty of small concert venues, the Big Apple is a haven for music heavyweights like Jay Z, Beyoncé, and, of course, Taylor Swift. No wonder this heady city is included on our ultimate Taylor Swift road trip . Taylor Swift says her move to the Big Apple in 2014 inspired "1989," her first pop album. Since then, the megastar has made NYC into one of her home bases (actually, she owns four homes here), and we've got the perfect New York (Taylor's Version) walking tour to help you follow in her glitter boot footsteps.

Want to have the "Best Day?" Embark on our guided excursion to some of Taylor's favorite haunts — restaurants, bars, and hotels included. From her former Cornelia Street apartment to the leafy High Line to the Housing Works Bookstore, these places are prime spots to visit for Swifties. If some of them seem familiar, it's probably because they are. Many of these destinations have been either incessantly photographed by paparazzi trailing the Eras Tour singer or filmed in one of her music videos. This New York City walking tour is a must for any Swiftie.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Famed home of the fascinating Met Gala, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is purportedly where Taylor Swift met her former lover, Joe Alwyn. The main clue is found in the lyrics, "Flashback when you met me, your buzzed cut and my hair bleached," in the song "Dress." In May 2016, Swift attended the Gala with a much-talked-about bleached blond bob while Joe Alwyn sported a buzz cut. While you won't likely receive an invite to the big fundraising costume event, The MET, as it's referred to locally, is a New York museum you'll want to visit , Swiftie or not.

Inside this New York landmark, you'll find everything from a remarkable 10th-century B.C. Egyptian Temple (the Temple of Dendur) to Van Gogh's captivating "Self-Portrait With a Straw Hat."  It's closed on Wednesdays, so time your visit right. Also, tickets aren't cheap (they cost $30 for an adult), so plan to stay a while to make the most of your trip.  Feel free to nip into Central Park when you've finished exploring the museum. In true Taylor Swift style, its stone bridges and sparkling lake are about as romantic as you can get. Plus, this was the site of Swift's impromptu concert in 2010. Backed by an orchestra, the singer played a grand piano in the middle of the park to promote her new (at the time) album, "Speak Now."

Radio City Music Hall

Radio City Music Hall is one of the most iconic attractions in New York City, and it's located a 40-minute walk southwest of the Met. You could take the M3 bus from East 80th Street to 50th Street to save some steps. This museum is also the site of the infamous moment when Kanye West crashed the stage, interrupting Taylor's acceptance speech for winning "Best Female Video" at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Despite the moment's horror, Taylor went on (at the age of only 19) to perform her winning song, "You Belong With Me," in unconventional venues. According to MTV News , Swift said, "I think it could be really cool if it was unlike anything I've ever done at an awards show," when describing her plans for the performance. She sang the song while busking at the 42nd Street Bryant Park subway station, dancing on the F Train, and screaming "I love New York" atop a yellow cab in front of Radio City Music Hall.

While you probably won't see Taylor Swift perform here, that doesn't mean you won't be entertained. Visit during the holiday season to see the Christmas Spectacular starring the Radio City Rockettes or catch a concert in the spring and summer. If you have time to spare, book a 60-minute guided tour . Tickets cost $33 per adult and include a glimpse at the famous auditorium and a peek into the Roxy Suite, a secret apartment inside the venue.

The Empire State Building

It's hard to find a more iconic view than the one from atop the Empire State Building, which you can reach in 21 minutes by heading southwest from Radio City Music Hall. Ever seen "Sleepless in Seattle?" How about "King Kong" or "Elf?" These are just a few of the noteworthy films that feature this landmark and its stunning vistas. The fourth tallest and most photographed of New York's skyscrapers, this is also one of  the city's most popular tourist attractions . Swifties, hold on to your friendship bracelets because this breezy spot was also the location of Taylor's premier performance of "Shake it Off." She announced the release of her "1989" album right here and posed for photos on the building's VIP, 103rd Floor Observatory. The main, open-air observation deck is located on the 86th floor and costs $44 for an adult to visit. Tack on a visit to the 102nd-floor deck for $79.

On September 27, 2023, the Empire State Building's official X account posted an image of the attraction's top floors lighted in red and white to pay homage to Taylor Swift's romance with American football star Travis Kelce. It also alluded to a now-famous term coined by the @tswifterastour X account , describing the singer's snack at a Chief's game, "Ketchup and seemingly ranch."

The High Line

Walking the High Line is one of the most refreshing and interesting things to do in New York City, and it's easy to reach by heading northwest for about 25 minutes on West 33rd and 30th Streets. An elevated park developed on a former railway track, this NYC landmark runs 1.45 miles from near "the Vessel" in Hudson Yards south to Gansevoort Street in the trendy Meatpacking District. According to her "Cardigan" lyrics, "I knew you, your heartbeat on the High line, Once in twenty lifetimes," Taylor Swift has likely been among the many romantics strolling the garden-lined walkway with their loves.

Known for its  unique city views of the Hudson River, neighboring buildings, and colorful murals, the High Line is an amorous place to visit in New York. Plus, it's free, which makes this a much more budget-friendly way to see New York's best views than a trip up the Empire State Building or to the Top of The Rock (a.k.a. Rockefeller Center). Our favorite thing to do when wandering this open-air museum is grab an ice cream or other sweet treat from a local vendor, ogle the frequently changing art installations, and stop to watch pedestrians while sitting in the "amphitheater" at the 10th Avenue Square & Overlook. If you're lucky, you may even catch a live public performance. It may not be an Era Tour concert venue, but we promise you won't forget your experience here.

Bus Stop Cafe

Swifties have long believed that the Bus Stop Cafe is the "bus stop" referred to in the lyrics of Taylor Swift's "The 1." In case you don't remember them, here's a refresher — "I thought I saw you at the bus stop, I didn't though." While Taylor herself has never confirmed this, you can't go wrong with enjoying a meal, especially brunch, at this adorable restaurant located at the corner of Hudson and Bethune Streets in the West Village. To get here, follow Horatio Street and Hudson Street for about four minutes.

A quick, 10-minute walk from Swift's former Cornelia Street home and close to the former home of her good friend Karlie Kloss, this family-run restaurant has been operating here since 1995. During Prohibition, the building was run as a speakeasy. Today, guests can munch on fried calamari or a house-made oatmeal banana flaxseed sandwich on focaccia bread. They also serve great cocktails like a refreshing pomegranate mimosa and mango chili margarita.

The Waverly Inn and Garden

According to PageSix , Taylor Swift is a frequent diner at The Waverly Inn and Garden , another iconic West Village eatery, which can be reached in five minutes by walking west along Bank Street. One of her most widely photographed dates at this tasty spot involved a certain Kansas City Chiefs tight end. Many photos of the two emerging from this swanky, celeb-infused hot spot were splashed on magazine and web pages across the globe. While opened as a somewhat private dinner club by former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter in 2006,  New York Magazine claims the restaurant has become more of a "reliable neighborhood joint" — if you consider a $54 iron skillet of sea scallops "neighborhoody," that is.

Don't let the price tag throw you off; this restaurant's dishes are moreish, and the ambiance is elegant and cozy, not to mention very romantic. Plus, you might spot an A-lister or two if you're lucky. With such a charming locale (the restaurant is housed in two brownstones), it is easy to see why Taylor and her friends (she's been spotted here with Cara Delevingne, Dakota Johnson, Lorde, and Jack Antonoff) enjoy eating here. If you're hoping to grab a bite at this beloved spot, be sure to book dinner reservations well in advance (we're talking months), as it's a sought-after eatery with very little seating.

If you couldn't get into The Waverly Inn and Garden or balked at the exorbitant price tag, head to one of Taylor's other favorite restaurants, nearby Via Carota . Located seven minutes southwest at 51 Grove Street, this Italian trattoria is a four-minute walk from Taylor's former Cornelia Street pad. Be warned, it's so popular there's often a line around the block. While delicious food is the major pull (reviewers rave about the tonnarelli cacio pepe), it's the restaurant's fame as a celebrity haven and its authentic Italian ambiance that entice people to wait it out until they get a table. Entreés will still run you around $28, but considering this is New York, that's not such a bad price, especially with the high quality of food on offer.

Yelp users suggest heading to the restaurant at 5 p.m. and putting your name on the waitlist, which could take anywhere from half an hour to three hours. Don't worry; you can head to a nearby bar to while away the time. The restaurant will send a text when your table is ready. Try visiting for a weekday lunch if you're not up to lining up for what could be hours and hours. We're guessing Taylor and her friends don't have to wait for their spot.

Cornelia Street

Walk about four minutes southwest on Grove Street until you hit Cornelia Street. Taylor Swift rented a 5,500-square-foot townhouse at number 23 while her Tribeca apartment was renovated in 2016. According to a New York Vulture interview with the home's owner, David Aldea, Swift loved his "crafty" style and asked if he could leave pretty much everything for her to use while she was there — like towels, furniture, dishes, etc.

The unique building is fronted by large, wooden arched doorways, and though you won't see this on your visit, the inside is home to a swimming pool that is situated in the living room. The "roof" Swift sings about in "Cornelia Street" is also hidden from view and likely refers to a private outdoor area off the main bedroom that boasts a fireplace and artificial grass.

Today, the house (well, the outside of it, anyway) is frequented by Swifties taking selfies and singing verses of "Cornelia Street," Swift's song on the album "Lover." Swift sings about renting "a place on Cornelia Street" and that if her lover ever left her, she wouldn't be able to walk the street again. Speaking of streets, this Greenwich Village neighborhood is hard to beat — great restaurants, cute cafés, and eclectic shops abound.

155 Franklin Street

It will take about 25 minutes to walk southwest to another of Taylor's NYC residences. She bought two neighboring penthouse apartments at 155 Franklin Street for almost $20 million in 2014 and had them renovated to create an enormous space featuring 10 bathrooms, 10 bedrooms, and a billiards room, moving into the Cornelia Street house while the work was completed. In 2018, the New York Post reported that Swift purchased another apartment on the same block, this time a second-floor, 3,540-square-foot space for $9.75 million.

Swift also owns the three-story townhouse next door at 153 Franklin Street. She purchased this for $18 million, bringing her property spend on this block up to almost $50 million. According to the same New York Post article, it comes with a "paparazzi-proof garage." While the block itself is pretty unassuming — it's devoid of flashy stores, doorman-clad buildings, and popular restaurants, its location is perfect for someone who doesn't want to be in the limelight every second of the day. It's also super close to plenty of crave-worthy restaurants like Bubby's , which sits around the corner on Hudson Street and has been frequented by Taylor and Lena Dunham. Sarabeth's is another nearby eatery favored by Taylor. She's been spotted there with Karlie Kloss.

Housing Works Bookstore

The next stop on this New York (Taylor's Version) walking tour is a must for any Swiftie. A 22-minute walk east on Franklin Street and north on Broadway, Housing Works Bookstore is both unique and gorgeous. You might recognize this charming shop from the final scene in Taylor Swift's 10-minute, Grammy-winning music video for "All Too Well." It's here, surrounded by bookshelves and intrigued-looking women, that Swift reads her "novel" in the video's conclusion. Not a big reader? This eclectic store is also filled with music and movies, most of which have been donated, and 100% of their profits are gifted to help those affected by and living with HIV/AIDS. There's also a café, making this a perfect spot to enjoy a quiet respite.

According to Homes and Gardens magazine, Swift shot other parts of the popular "All Too Well" video in the Pound Ridge home of her friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. A bit far for a walking tour, this adorable New York State town lies almost 50 miles north of Cornelia Street, near the Connecticut border. You can hop on a train or rent a car to visit.

The Bowery Hotel

Taylor Swift's former long-time love, Joe Alwyn, was part of the creative process on her "Folklore," "Evermore," and "Midnight" albums — he even co-wrote some of the songs. On the credits, Joe used a pseudonym — William Bowery. According to Teen Vogue , many fans believe he chose this last name to honor the site of one of their first dates, the luxe (and super pricey) The Bowery Hotel . But in an interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show in May 2022, Alwyn claimed he picked the name William for his great-grandfather and Bowery to represent the area he spent a lot of time in when he first moved to New York. Regardless of whether the pseudonym was tied to Taylor, it's known that the two enjoyed tasty food and drinks in this swanky locale, which lies a mere five-minute walk northeast of the Housing Works Bookstore.

While rooms cost anywhere from $655 to over $1,200 per night, guests can visit the hotel's fab Italian restaurant, Gemma , for a fraction of the price. Homemade Honeynut Ravioli will run you about $25, and a NY Strip Steak is $52. Reviewers on Yelp love the Torta di Cioccolato for dessert. Not cheap, but again, this is New York! And the elegant, rustic atmosphere is hard to beat.

Lovers of Today Bar

Swifties have taken to  Reddit to discuss their thoughts on the lyrics to "Delicate," and their arguments are quite convincing. According to these mega fans, the "dive bar on the East Side" mentioned in this "Reputation" song is the Lovers of Today Cocktail Bar at 132 1/2 East 7th Street. Open from 5 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily, cocktails cost $16, which is pretty reasonable for this part of the city. And they come with super fun names like Hong Kong Garden, Another Girl Another Planet, Satellite of Love, and Fan Mail.

Small and intimate,  Yelp reviewers recommend this cozy spot for a date night. Looking to save a few bucks? Visit during Happy Hour, which takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Specialty Cocktails cost $9 during this time. While you won't likely rub elbows with Taylor while waiting for an Astral Plane, she and Joe Alwyn have been seen here in the past. To get here from The Bowery Hotel, it will take 13 minutes of walking northeast along East 3rd Street and 1st Avenue.

Coney Island

While not technically in New York, it's easy to reach Brooklyn's Coney Island by train from the city, which is why this has been deemed a summer playground for New Yorkers for years. In her song "Coney Island," Taylor and The National sing about "the fast times, the bright lights, the merry-go." This pretty much sums up Coney Island and its Luna Park amusement park. A song about a doomed relationship and the regrets that follow its breakup, this track captures some of the feels of this super buzzy, always interesting, and sometimes seedy beach town.

Here, you'll find rollercoasters, hang gliders, and the B&B Carousell that dates to 1906. Coney Island also boasts close to 3 miles of beaches, so you should pack a towel if you plan to visit in summer, which is the busiest and most ideal time to schedule a trip to this fun seaside spot. Don't miss a walk along the historic boardwalk, which opened in 1923. It stretches for just under 3 miles, running from W 37th Street to Corbin Place. Plus, you'll find benches like the one referred to in Swift's song lyrics, "And I'm sitting on a bench in Coney Island, Wondering, where did my baby go?"

TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR

*International dates to be announced

About Gracie Abrams

Since making her debut with “Mean It” in October 2019, Gracie Abrams has emerged as one of the most compelling songwriters of her generation.  She is a consummate songwriter who names iconic figures like Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift as her most formative influences.

With the arrival of her debut project  minor  in summer 2020, she received glowing reviews from the likes of Pigeons & Planes, i-D, Vogue and NME. Executive-produced by Blake Slatkin — and also made with leading producers like Joel Little and benny blanco-  minor  features her beloved singles, “21,” and “I miss you, I’m sorry”.

In November 2021, Abrams returned with  This Is What It Feels Like , a 12-track project exploring such complex emotional experiences as self-betrayal, insecurity, and failed attempts at connection.  Abrams took on a greater role in the production process here, working with The National’s Aaron Dessner, Joel Little and Blake Slatkin to dream up each track.

Abrams kicked off 2022 with a headline tour of North America followed by a support slot on Olivia Rodrigo’s tour.  She reconnected with Dessner to release two songs this year – “Block me out” and “Difficult” – and continues to work on her debut album.

About beabadoobee

Racking up more than 4.6 billion global streams and major critical acclaim, beabadoobee has been on a skyrocketing trajectory over the past few years since the release of her first acoustic songs, crafted in her childhood bedroom. Bea’s critically acclaimed debut album Fake It Flowers established her as a one of music’s most buzzed about talents, earned her a late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and drew mainstream and tastemaker praise on both sides of the pond.

Born in the Philippines and raised in London, beabadoobee signed with Dirty Hit Records following the success of her viral single “Coffee” which was sampled later in 2020’s sixth most streamed song in the world that year on “death bed (coffee for your head)”

With her flawless output of confessional bedroom pop songs and a dedicated Gen-Z fanbase, beabadoobee’s sophomore album Beatopia opened up a deeply personal world. The album received global praise and hit #4 on the UK Official Album Chart. Marking her biggest year yet with performances at Coachella, Glastonbury, Gov Ball, Reading & Leeds.

At just 22 years old, Bea has been championed by and has received major critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR, Vogue, Wall Street Journal, Teen Vogue, LA Times, The FADER, i-D, The Face, Dazed, Stereogum, The Guardian, New York Times and more.

About Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Bridgers released her debut album in 2017 as a relatively unknown singer-songwriter. In the five years since, she’s become an internationally lauded musician with four acclaimed bodies of work to her name: her solo debut,  Stranger In The Alps , the  boygenius  EP with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus in 2018,   Better Oblivion Community Center , a surprise collaboration with Conor Oberst in 2019, and her multi-Grammy nominated sophomore album  Punisher  in 2020.

Punisher ’s release cemented her position as one of the most irresistibly clever and tenderly prolific songwriters of our era. The album gave Bridgers her first  Billboard #1  on the Emerging Artist Chart as well as Top Twenty Album Chart placings in the UK, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland and Belgium.  Amidst late night TV performances –  including a smashing debut on  Saturday Night Live   –  sold out tours, festival appearances and work for charity, Bridgers has become a highly sought-after collaborator featured on recent releases from The 1975, Marcus Mumford, Kid Cudi, The Killers, Paul McCartney, Bright Eyes and Taylor Swift.  She was named Billboard’s Trailblazer Of The Year at the 2022 Women In Music Awards.

About GAYLE

GAYLE’s debut EP,  a study of the human experience volume one , captures the 18 year old’s most specific and vividly real emotions: the tension between longing for connection and fearing vulnerability, the risk and thrill of refusing to compromise your own needs. Released in early 2022, the project features her electrifying chart topping smash single “ abcdefu ”: a double-Platinum anthem that propelled the Nashville-based artist to over 2 billion streams globally and such milestones as being named as a Billboard Music Awards finalist, and earn such honors as American Music Award and People’s Choice Award nominations for Best New Artist, and 2 MTV VMA nominations. In the midst of navigating that whirlwind success, GAYLE headed back into the studio to create  a study of the human experience volume two —a powerful new EP that doubles down on its predecessor’s unapologetic truth-telling, with  American Songwriter  writing “GAYLE’s uncensored honesty as a lyrical storyteller is what makes her music so captivating.” Highlighted by the playfully chaotic “ fmk (with blackbear) ” and the blissful “ snow angels ,”  a study of the human experience volume two  is out now. Heralded as a magnetic live performer, GAYLE has spent the past year on a headline tour, playing alongside Tate McRae, AJR, My Chemical Romance, and at festival dates around the world.

About girl in red

The alternative pop artist from Oslo, born Marie Ulven – is continuing her path to world domination, kicking off 2022 with a  Best New Alternative Artist nomination for the iHeart Radio Music Awards.

It’s a well-deserved nod, considering she was the most played female artist on Alt Radio with “Serotonin”. The song reached #2 and spent 30 weeks on the Alt chart, 21 of those weeks in the Top 10. “Serotonin” streams currently surpass 84M for the track, with over 1.85 billion career streams to date.

girl in red spent much of 2022 on her first headline tour since the release of her debut album; she had a robust run across North America with major festival highlights including Coachella and Lollapalooza. She also had monster sets at Oya, Glastonbury and a sold out headline show at NYC’s famed Pier 17. A passionate live performer she will continue to tour, up next is a UK & EU headline run in 2023, including a sold out show at O2 Academy Brixton.

Ulven released her critically acclaimed debut album  if i could make it go quiet  in 2021, to world-wide critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Celebrity supporters included Taylor Swift and Camilla Cabello and more. Press response was astoundingly positive, with many outlets proclaiming it  “Best of 2021”  including but not limited to Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, NPR, Stereogum, NYLON  and more.

In 2021, she also performed on  The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon  and  Late Night With Seth Meyers , as well as TV performances worldwide including but not limited to  Skavlan ,  Late Night Berlin  and  MTV’s EMA s.

HAIM are sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim, hailing from Los Angeles, CA. The band made history as the first all-female rock group to be nominated for GRAMMY® Album of The Year with their third album, ‘Women In Music Pt. III.’ The album received two GRAMMY® nominations, the band’s single “The Steps” was nominated for ‘Best Rock Performance.’  The band again made history winning a Brit Award for Best International Group, the first time an all-female act has won this award since Destiny’s Child in 2002.  ‘Women In Music Pt. III’ was released in June and was met with an overwhelming amount of critical acclaim, rave reviews and included on a variety of year-end Top 10 lists. Named a “Critic’s Pick” by  The New York Times  and “Best New Music” by  Pitchfork , they heralded, “the third album from the trio is far and away their best. Intimate, multidimensional, and wide-ranging, the songwriting shines with personality and a great curiosity for melody and style.” ‘Women In Music Pt. III’ debuted at #1 on the Album Sales Chart, Alternative Chart and Rock Chart following release week in the US. The band also earned the #1 album in the UK, marking their second time at the top of the UK albums chart. Haim released their debut album “Days Are Gone” in 2013 which earned them a GRAMMY® nomination for Best New Artist. Renowned for their engaging high-energy live performances, HAIM have toured the world playing headline shows and festival stages including Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and more.  On their most recent headlining tour in support of Women In Music Part III, HAIM sold out shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden as well as Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and 02 Arena in London

MUNA is magic. After releasing their now viral, life affirming, queer anthem “Silk Chiffon,” featuring the band’s new label head Phoebe Bridgers, the band have taken 2022 by storm. MUNA, the band’s self-titled third album, is a feat of an album — the forceful, deliberate, dimensional output of a band who has nothing to prove to anyone except themselves.

Katie Gavin, Naomi McPherson, and Josette Maskin, began making music together in college and now have become something more like family.

“What ultimately keeps us together,” Maskin said, “is knowing that someone’s going to hear each one of these songs and use it to make a change they need in their life.” And that’s what MUNA does: it carves out a space in the middle of whatever existential muck you’re doing the everyday dog-paddle through and transports you, suddenly — you who’ve come to music looking for an answer you can’t find anywhere else — into a room where everything is possible, where the disco ball’s never stopped throwing sparkles on the walls, where you can sweat and cry and lie down on the floor and make out with whoever, where vulnerability in the presence of those who love you can make you feel momentarily bulletproof and self-consciousness only sharpens the swell of joy.

About OWENN

This Summer, OWENN, the talented multi-hyphenate, brought his enigmatic spirit and smokey sense of soul to the forefront as he formally introduced himself on his debut tour, highlighted by a Main Stage East show at Lollapalooza Paris; OWENN carried the momentum from Europe having just recently opened for Lil Nas X on the two sold out New York, Radio City Music Hall shows – Long Live Montero Tour.

OWENN has attracted attention contributing dance moves on stages worldwide with A-list artists such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani and others. Including, most recently working with Lil Nas X to choreograph his tv performances for MTV VMAs and live show appearances on the iHeart Jingle Ball Tour.  OWENN became a staple of Taylor Swift’s show on her  1989 Tour  and  Reputation Tour .  In 2019, he starred alongside Taylor in her video for “ Lover ,” as well as Normani in her video for “ Motivation ”.

Inspired by Prince, Marvin Gaye, Usher, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, and the Smiths, among others, OWENN’s emotional and spiritual approach to dance translated to writing and recording. OWENN’s debut EP will be released in fall of 2023.

About Paramore

When Paramore revealed they were recording together in January 2022 the response from music fans around the world was immediate and celebratory. In the time since the Grammy-winning, RIAA-certified multi-Platinum band released their last album,  After Laughter  – and Hayley Williams unveiled two lauded solo albums – Paramore have become more popular than ever.  Over the last few years Paramore’s influence and popularity has snowballed, as the age of streaming organically propelled them into a position as one of the world’s biggest, most culturally compelling rock bands. For the band, who formed as teenagers in Tennessee, their 20-year trajectory has seen them grow from youthful outsiders to bone-fide pop culture icons, permeating the musical landscape by inspiring a new generation of musical talent. Their forthcoming sixth album  This Is Why , set for release on Atlantic Records in February 2023, is preceded by the dynamic title track, most immediate worldwide radio hit of the band’s career to date.

Globally renowned for their arena-filling and festival-headlining performance prowess, the opportunity to see Paramore play their first theater shows in years created headline news. Their Fall 2022 and UK arena shows for Spring 2023 sold out in minutes. The band are donating a portion of their ticket sales to organizations working in areas of essential community support, including ARC Southeast, Kansas Abortion Funds, Shelter Safe Canada, Support & Feed and REVERB.

Taylor Swift is such a force that her post-quarantine “Eras Tour” was a sensation the moment tickets went on sale. Despite Swift playing the biggest venues possible for multiple days in each city, the wild demand has helped to make each stop national news, especially as they are documented in real time on social media. Livestreams dominate on TikTok, “I-can’t-believe-you-got-tickets” posts rise to the top on Instagram, and the media cycle analyzes every change in Swift’s setlist, as well her famous friends in attendance.

Summer movie meltdown math: years of box office data reveal discouraging trends, tom van amburg, tv executive and leader of kabc-tv los angeles, dies at 83, popular on variety.

Between the tristate happening midway through the run and social media ubiquity, fans were feverish from the very beginning, letting out their first collective roar when hearing Lady Gaga’s “Applause” play over the PA, because they knew it’s the last song piped in before Swift takes the stage. From there, it was a constant eruption of screams, cries and singalongs that lasted the whole night, adoration at a level few artists could sustain.

The genesis of these shows came from what Swift described at one point during the concert as a year-and-a-half-long process ideating the tour, from conceptual sketches to the finished product. Each chapter was a no-expenses-spared jaunt into Taylor’s mind, from the cozy forest home of “Folklore” to the glittery, fist-pumping anthems of “Red,” to the cool blues and purples that set the tone of the “Midnights” portion.

While the setlist has largely stayed the same for the duration of the tour, Swift smartly bakes in two surprise acoustic songs deep into the set, and at the first NYC show she brought out frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff for a rendition of “Reputation” fan favorite “Getaway Car,” and then took to the piano for a “Midnights” deep cut, “Maroon.”

Yet the night’s biggest surprises were all about buzzy Bronx rapper Ice Spice, whose collaboration with Swift on the remix to “Karma” dropped earlier in the day. Before the surprise acoustic songs, Swift world premiered the video to the remix alongside her dancers, many of whom were featured in it. Swift also expressed her appreciation to the rapper, saying that as she prepared for the tour she was “listening to pretty much exclusively just [Ice Spice’s] music every single day, all day.”

For the night’s last song, as some fans started trudging to the exits to beat traffic, a huge roar came again as the rapper dropped by to perform the remix with Taylor, creating a last-minute viral moment.

As the lights went up, the audience still enchanted by Swift, it’s difficult to think of anything more you could ask from a touring artist in 2023. The marathon run sounded great, was filled with both Swift’s huge, hooky hits and deeper cuts, mixed keen musicianship with joyful choreo, and left the audience headed to their cars to queue their own favorite eras on Spotify. For a perfectionist like Swift, it’s a thrilling culmination of her art, vision and hard work.

Welcome to New York (Taylor’s Version): Your Complete Guide to Taylor Swift’s NYC

Like any great love, it keeps you guessing

Like any real love, it's ever-changing

Like any true love, it drives you crazy

But you know you wouldn't change anything, anything, anything

“Welcome to New York”

Taylor Swift 2014

Famous for her very public breakups that have inspired more than a bevy of hit singles, next year Taylor Swift will be celebrating what could be her longest love affair to date–her relationship with her adopted city, New York. And it’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly a decade since the chart-topping star released “Welcome to New York,” the first track from her fifth studio album “1989.”

“The inspiration that I found in this city is kind of hard to describe and hard to compare to any other force of inspiration I’ve ever experienced in my life,” she said of the single in a 2014 interview with Good Morning America. “I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism and sort of saw it as a place of endless potential and possibilities,” Swift told GMA of her move to Gotham “You can kind of hear that reflected in this music and this song especially.”

Now, nearly ten years after first dropping “Welcome to New York,” Swift’s anthem and love letter to Gotham will be getting a new life with the re-recorded release of her fifth studio album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” on October 27, 2023. And in the decade since she moved to New York, her song lyrics and videos have inspired hoards of her loyal Swifties to check out the locations that were part of their favorite Swift tunes.

Cornelia Street

Before famously dropping a reported $47 million buying up properties on a TriBeCa block in 2018, Swift lived in a West Village rental that inspired the single “Cornelia Street.” Contrary to any images of Swift living in an artist’s garret apartment, life in her Cornelia Street digs was anything but roughing it. She paid $39,500 a month for the 5,500-square-foot townhouse, which has a 30-foot-long indoor pool and private garage. Last May, Architectural Digest reported that her former abode hit the market for a cool $18 million–or $45,000 a month for the commitment-phobic.

The High Line - from “cardigan”

Images and sounds of the High Line–the 1.5-mile-long elevated park, greenway and rail trail created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan provided poetic inspiration for Swift’s single of lost romance. Walking around the High Line, you can buy a “vintage tee” at one of many boutiques, a “brand new phone” at the Apple Store, and hear the sound of “high heels on cobblestones” on the century-old streets under the rail line.

The Bus Stop Cafe - from “the 1”

With a net worth of $740 million, according to Forbes, it’s tough to imagine Taylor Swift taking a bus, much less waiting for one. So when she sings “I saw you at the bus stop” in the song “the 1” from 2020’s Folklore, sleuths have determined with almost certainty that it refers to The Bus Stop Cafe . A quick walk from her former place on Cornelia Street, this out-of-the-way eatery on Bethune Street has become a hit with Swifties who are eager to post their pilgrimages on social media.

Coney Island

Called a “lonely waltz down a Brooklyn boardwalk" by Spin critic Bobby Oliver, “coney island,” from 2020’s indie rock “evermore” is a reflective look at a lost relationship. The song plays in stark contrast to the beach amusement park’s happy brand and “the fast time, the bright lights, the merry-go” that usually embody it. Swift’s Coney Island “gets colder and colder when the sun goes down.”

Lovers of Today - from “Delicate”

Although it hasn’t been confirmed by Swift herself, Swifties were quick to deduce that the “dive bar on the east side” in her song “Delicate” from 2017’s “reputation” referred to East Village speakeasy Lovers of Today , where she is rumored to have been on a few dates. A fan was quick to note on social media “I feel like we need to talk to Taylor about what a dive bar is… $16 cocktails?” But any way you want to label it, this out-of-the-way watering hole that we mentioned in our profile 6 East Village Speakeasies & How to Find Them is well worth the visit.

The Housing Works Bookstore - from “All Too Well: The Short Film”

In 2021 Swift revisited her 2012 country single “All Too Well” as a 14-minute short film. Making her debut as a filmmaker, Swift put dialogue around a 10-minute version of the song and set many of the scenes in Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s home in the upstate New York community of Pound Ridge. The final scene takes place inside the Housing Works Bookstore on Crosby Street in SoHo.

Oheka Castle - from “Blank Space” video

Taylor Swift didn’t have to travel to France for the chateau with its opulent gardens that provided the backdrop for the video to her 2014 hit “Blank Space.” Located an hour’s train ride from the city in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island is Oheka Castle , the second largest private home ever built in the United States. A popular event space, the 127-room Gilded Age estate built in 1919, is rumored to have been the inspiration for the mansion in “The Great Gatsby.” “The video has spawned many a Taylor Swift-themed Sweet Sixteen Party,” said Oheka general manager Tucker Burns. “Guests love taking photos on the grand staircase and in the formal gardens. We just prefer that they don’t follow Taylor Swift’s lead and bring white horses into our ballroom.”

Bobby McGuire

Bobby McGuire

A native New Yorker, Bobby saw his first Broadway show at the age of eight and has been hooked on culture ever since. After a brief flirtation in performing as a member of the Actors Equity Association, Bobby found his calling backstage and eventually worked on a slew of Broadway shows and tours that included a famous blockbuster hit, and a few notorious fiascos. His post-showbiz life led him to work for Ogilvy and Mather, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Edge Media Network, and The Nielsen Company. A contributing theater critic for Queerty and Passport Magazine’s The Broadway Blog, Bobby resides in two blocks from the theater district with two roommates and three dogs named Nero, Murray, and Mrs. Jingles.

NEW YORK CITY

This Manhattan hotel that's on the National Register of Historic Places gets a shoutout on the title track of Taylor Swift's 11th studio album  The Tortured Poets Department, that also name drops literary icons Dylan Thomas and Patti Smith who are among the long list of famed poets, writers, and musicians who once called the hotel home.

Take a self-guided tour of Taylor’s Greenwich Village

Taylor and a certain former beau may never walk Cornelia Street together again, but you totally should! This charming little street is nestled in New York City’s West Village neighborhood. Join the line of Swifties taking selfies at Taylor’s former digs, a gorgeous townhouse with carriage doors located at 23 Cornelia Street ( pictured ), and grab a bite to eat at one of the excellent restaurants lining the street, like inventive Chinese-New American fusion spot Silver Apricot  or the affordable and always fun Tacombi taqueria.

Then, walk up 6th Ave and take a right on E 8th Street to take a peek inside the windows of Electric Lady Studios , where Taylor has recorded music since “Lover.” Continue to MacDougal Street and make another right going a block and a half south until you hit Washington Square Park  ( pictured ), which serves as the unofficial campus square for New York University. In 2022, NYU gave Taylor an honorary doctorate in fine arts, so that’s Dr. Swift to you.

Next, you’ll want to exit the park at its southeast corner and turn left on W 4th Street then make a right onto Lafayette Street. You’ll walk past Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery  ( pictured ) where Taylor has been spotted with pals. If you see a line, it’s likely not a Swift sighting: Lafayette is known for their TikTok-famous suprèmes, a round croissant stuffed with flavorful creamy fillings, made in limited quantities and "dropped" three times a day.

Credit: @bibliochick on Instagram

Continue on Lafayette Street and take a slight right onto East Houston Street then an immediate left onto Crosby Street. You will see the Housing Works Bookstore  ( pictured ) on your right. This is where a red-haired Taylor read her novel in All Too Well: The Short Film . All purchases at this store go to benefit Housing Works, a non-profit organization providing housing and healthcare to people living with HIV/AIDS. An intimate cafe inside provides a perch to take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

If you’re of drinking age and the night is young, continue on to the East Village bar Lovers of Today , which is thought to be the dive bar mentioned in Delicate .

As Taylor sings in Cardigan , “I knew you / Your heartbeat on the High Line / Once in twenty lifetimes.” No once-in-a-lifetime trip is complete without a stroll on the elevated walkway that connects the Meatpacking District to Hudson Yards. Formerly a working rail track, the High Line is now part garden, part open-air modern art museum.

Empire State Building

Like any real love, New York is ever-changing. See the whole city from the top of the Empire State Building where Taylor announced her album, 1989.

Coney Island

This classic amusement park in South Brooklyn inspired a whole song by the same name and is well worth a whole visit. Whether you choose to dip your toes in the Atlantic on the adjacent beach, fly high on rides, or just sit on a boardwalk bench pondering the sunset, this destination is sure not to disappoint.

LONG ISLAND

Oheka castle, credit: @noerosetravel on instagram.

You’ll recognize this impressive French-style chateau immediately from the Blank Space video. Take a tour of the castle and grounds, enjoy afternoon tea in a lush dining room, or treat yourself to an overnight stay at this real-life fairytale abode.

Lavender by the Bay

Credit: @andrewj_brooks on instagram.

While it never made it into a video or hosted Taylor herself (that we know of), it would be impossible to write this blog without mentioning this hidden gem that will make a literal Lavender Haze creep up on you. A working lavender farm, Lavender by the Bay is so photogenic that your selfies are sure to go viral. Soak up the views, pick out a lovely bouquet, and shop for more lavender products to take home.

HUDSON VALLEY

Taylor-inspired road trip.

Located just north of New York City, the Hudson Valley is dotted with the types of picturesque small towns and gorgeous nature that will make you fall in love on the spot.

Exterior view of the Katonah Museum of Art

It’s no surprise that this region served as the setting of Taylor’s Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions  as well as parts of the All Too Well  short film. Rumor has it that All Too Well  was filmed at least in part at the Westchester home of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. While an invitation from the Reynolds’ might not be in the cards for all, you can explore nearby towns like the lovely Katonah with its highly regarded Katonah Museum of Art  ( pictured ).

Credit: @carolineeparr on Instagram

If you visit in late summer or early fall, go apple picking at Fishkill Farms  ( pictured ) in Hopewell Junction like Taylor did with Jake Gyllenhaal back in the day.

Continue your trip north up the Hudson River with a stop at the absolutely adorable town of Rhinebeck and be sure to stop by Samuel’s Sweets Shop , which is owned by fellow Swiftie Paul Rudd (spotted at a recent Eras Tour concert at MetLife Stadium).

While you can’t visit Long Pond Studio, you can explore the neighboring small city of Hudson and the area with our handy 48 Hours in Hudson guide. Don’t miss the world-famous antiquing and beautiful Olana State Historic Site  ( pictured ) while you’re there!

CENTRAL NEW YORK

Back to binghamton, credit: @n0bis on instagram.

Did you know that the short music video for Back to December was filmed in the upstate city of Binghamton, NY? Stand in the same spot as Taylor once did at MacArthur Park and see more of what this city has to offer during your  48 Hours in Binghamton .

HELL'S KITCHEN, Manhattan (WABC) -- Taylor Swift has been breaking records and delighting fans on the U.S. leg of her Eras Tour, a splashy celebration of her career and new releases since the pandemic.

It's become a notoriously tough ticket to get. But even if you couldn't go to Swift's concert, you may still be in your costume era .

On the second floor of the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in New York City, fans can catch glimpses of Swift's "eras" for much cheaper. "Taylor Swift: Storyteller," features dozens of costumes and objects spanning her music videos, tours and awards show performances - from the lace gown she wore when performing "All Too Well" on the Red Tour to the "key to the castle" featured in the video for "Bejeweled."

The goal, museum director Tim Rodgers said, was to explore how Swift uses clothing and props to tell stories - almost as much as she does lyrics. "It's different than stars that use costumes or fashion in order to enhance themselves," Rodgers said. "Taylor Swift is using costumes and props like a vocabulary."

Rodgers said Swift's team came to MAD with the idea because of another exhibit they hosted - "Queer Maximalism X Machine Dazzle" - featuring the work of artist, performer and costume designer Matthew Flower, also known as Machine Dazzle. "It was totally unexpected," Rodgers said.

"Taylor Swift: Storyteller" opened ahead of Swift's three-night stop nearby at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium. Like her concerts, the collection walks visitors through her genre- and decade-spanning career. There's the crystal-encrusted guitar she used when performing her 2010 album "Speak Now," a hooded bodysuit she wore during her Reputation Stadium Tour, the striped T-shirt she wore in a 2020 photoshoot for "folklore."

"She's a visual storyteller. Everything she does ... it feels very intentional," said Teresa Bocalan, a fan visiting the museum. "So it's really cool to see those outfits up close."

The exhibit is accompanied by a playlist of Swift's music videos - including her short film for the 10 minute version of "All Too Well" - which are projected on screens around the room. Lyrics scrawled in Swift's handwriting adorn key walls in the space.

But perhaps the centerpiece of it all is a more recent piece of Swift's lore: the flowing red wedding dress she wore in the 2021 video for "I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor's Version) (From the Vault)," directed by Blake Lively and co-starring Miles Teller. The song, featuring Chris Stapleton, was an addition to the re-released version of her 2012 album "Red." Adorned with tulle roses, the dress was custom made for Swift by Nicole + Felicia Couture.

In the video, the red gown is a showstopper - or, more literally, a wedding stopper.

In the exhibit, it seems to hold the same power.

"We had people come in and look at that red wedding dress over there and literally start to cry," Rodgers said of the exhibit's opening weekend. "It is, for a lot of people, almost like a religious experience to see this clothing that Taylor once wore."

"I'm also super excited to see the 'I Bet You Think About Me' dress over there," said Greta Myers, a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology. "We haven't looked at it yet. I'm saving it."

A lot of fans have bad blood with Ticketmaster , but Swifties can visit the exhibit through September 4.

Take a Walking Tour of Taylor Swift’s New York City

Portrait of Nate Jones

Like many acts of political patronage, Taylor Swift’s recent ascension to the office of New York City Global Welcome Ambassador was met with populist outcry . And it’s true: Taylor’s slice of New York life is about as large as a (second semester) NYU freshman’s. She lives in Tribeca, hangs out in Soho, and occasionally ventures as deep into the East Village as Second Avenue. (In three months, she’ll discover those flashing-light Indian places on First and 6th and decide to have her 19th birthday there.) But while Taylor’s limited geographic range has left her incapable of writing a good song about New York , it also means that it’s fairly easy to get a reasonable facsimile of her Manhattan life in one whole afternoon. Here’s our walking tour of Taylor’s New York City. You can do it an hour!

taylor swift tour of nyc

1. Taylor’s Apartment: Tribeca If we’re being 100 percent accurate to Taylor’s NYC experience, this walking tour would begin and end with the 15-foot walk from this building’s front door to a chauffeured SUV waiting outside. You won’t be able to get inside (unless you’re Steven Soderbergh or Orlando Bloom, both of whom also live here), but there’s no law against milling around on the sidewalk. For maximum verisimilitude, call an Uber, then get a friend with a zoom lens to take pictures of you getting into it.

2. The Smile to Go: 22 Howard Street The banana-quinoa muffins at Swift’s favorite coffee shop were used as a priceless metaphor in at least one review of 1989 . In their non-metaphorical form, they cost $4.

taylor swift tour of nyc

3. Telepan Local: 329 Greenwich Street This summer, Swift was spotted dining with friends and bodyguards at this local tapas joint. If you have a weird thing about eating the same meals as your favorite pop stars, our own Grub Street reported that she ordered “ the red snapper, roasted mushrooms, and the carrots, and shared a bacon pizzette.”

4. Whole Foods: 270 Greenwich Street Just down the street is Swift’s neighborhood Whole Foods, where she has been at least once. If you go, have fun dodging strollers!

taylor swift tour of nyc

5. McNally Jackson: 52 Prince Street You can waltz right into this Soho bookstore and browse the New York section, just like Swift did in April. And, as happened after Swift’s visit, the cashiers will likely refuse to tell strangers  exactly which books you bought. The ultimate privacy!

6. ModelFit: 212 Bowery This is the gym a suspiciously sweat-free Swift is often photographed leaving. For  $40 a session , you, too, can learn how to do the world’s smallest squats .

7. Angelica Kitchen: 300 East 12th Street For the last stop on the walking tour, enjoy a relaxing vegan meal at the East Village’s Angelica Kitchen, one of the few north-of-Houston places Taylor’s been spotted hanging out. When do you think she’ll discover Bushwick?

taylor swift tour of nyc

Bonus subway trip: Madison Square Garden: 4 Pennsylvania Plaza MSG is just a short ride on the 1 train away for Taylor, who has been the world’s biggest Knicks fan ever since Tuesday. (Carmelo Anthony does not share her enthusiasm for the relationship.)

‘fleabag’ stars reunite at taylor swift eras tour as they dash to vip tent to dance.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Fleabag and the Hot Priest, together once more!

Former  Fleabag  co-stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott were spotted in the crowd at a recent London date of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, having a moment that will be very relatable to any concertgoer.

The pair, who played forbidden love interests in Waller-Bridge’s hit TV show, were seen leaving the VIP tent on the stadium floor during the show.

They were presumably dipping out for a tactical bathroom / bar break during the epic three-and-a-half hour performance, but as they headed for the exits, suddenly, the opening notes of a Swift classic rang out:  Style , a single from Swift’s 2014 pop opus,  1989.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott, former Fleabag co-stars, hurriedly returning to the VIP tent at Taylor Swift's concert.

Suddenly, all plans were abandoned, as the pair clutched each other and sprinted back to the VIP tent for a dance – stopping only to quickly exchange a Swift friendship bracelet with a fan.

The former TV co-stars are among a bevy of big celebs who’ve been spotted at Swift’s London shows, which took over Wembley Stadium over the past few days.

Stars Tom Cruise, Liam Hemsworth, Hugh Grant, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis along with Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce were  all spotted dancing  along to  Shake It Off  from the confines of the VIP tent at Wembley Stadium.

In  another clip,  a happy-looking Cruise exchanged friendship bracelets with fans.

And Swift even bought her football star boyfriend on stage for the third night of her Wembley Stadium stop.

In a sweet moment, the Super Bowl champ  carried his girlfriend on stage  before she performed the new song  I Can Do It With a Broken Heart .

Kelce was also spotted in the VIP tent at one of Swift’s Sydney shows during the Eras tour’s visit down under earlier this year. That was a similarly star-studded affair, with Katy Perry, Rita Ora, Baz Luhrmann and Toni Collette among the celebs  crowding into the VIP area  to watch the show.

But they don’t get much more famous than the very VIP guests Swift  took a selfie with backstage  in London: the future King of England himself, Prince William, who took children Prince George and Princess Charlotte for a night out at the concert.

However, a royal insider told  Hello magazine  that there was actually chaos behind the scenes ahead of backstage snap.

“They [the royals] had a nightmare getting in, they were running really late but they had planned to get there earlier so they could have the meet and greet with Taylor beforehand because they knew they wanted to leave early,” the source said.

They also claimed that the Prince of Wales and his two eldest children had attempted to keep a low profile by staying toward the back of their box – but a clip of William enthusiastically dancing to  Shake It Off  managed to go viral anyway.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour set list features a surprise song (or two), so far performed during a mini acoustic set, on each date of the the superstar’s trek, which kicked off in March 2023.

Guitar in hand and making her way to the end of the stage’s catwalk at March 17’s Eras kickoff in Glendale, Ariz., Swift revealed her intentions for the acoustic portion of her long-awaited live show. She’ll perform a surprise song that will not be played again on this tour — probably.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? So that when you heard one on this tour, you would know it’s the only time that I was going to play it in the acoustic set, unless — caveat — unless I mess it up so badly,” she said with a small laugh, “that I have to do it over again in some other city. Send your best wishes towards me that I don’t do that.”

Here Are All the Celebrities Who Have Attended Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour

The Eras Tour is her first real tour in five years, and the first time the prolific songwriter is getting to perform selections from Lover , Folklore , Evermore and Midnights to sold-out stadium crowds.

Eras Tour night one introduced a career-spanning, whopping 44-song setlist with a runtime of more than three hours, with Swift playing anywhere from one to eight tracks from all 10 of her full-length studio albums. The show’s nightly surprise is sure to keep her fans on their tallest tiptoes, waiting to hear what gem will be unveiled at their concert.

Below, check out the list of all the surprise songs she’s brought to The Eras Tour, courtesy of social media livestreams and post-concert clips uploaded by Swifties in attendance. Bookmark this page, as the list will updated regularly as the tour goes on.

"Mirrorball"

Taylor Swift Mirrorball Eras Tour

Performed at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (March 17, 2023)

“I was thinking about the first one I would play for you,” Swift said at the very first Eras Tour concert, to a crowd of fans who were still gloriously spoiler-free about what was in store for the rest of the show. “I was thinking about what song to play first, and I was thinking about how one of the songs that I wrote with you in mind during the pandemic was one of the first songs I wrote for Folklore , and it was me writing about how badly I craved the connection that I feel from the care that you have directed in my way. I’m trying to tell you I love you, and I’m babbling,” she noted. Swift tried again: “I was trying to think of sort of an eloquent way to say that I love you and I need your attention all the time, and I came up with ‘I’m a mirrorball.'” After the wordy intro, Swift begins singing “Mirrorball” at the 2:17 timestamp in the video above.

"Tim McGraw"

Taylor Swift

“I was thinking about tonight and how special this is,” Swift explained on the opening night of The Eras Tour, and then added, “So I thought it might be kind of fun to play the very first song I ever put out.” The crowd gladly sang along to her pretty piano rendition of her debut single, nearly 17 years after it was first released. “Tim McGraw” was the only track from her first album to make the Eras setlist in Arizona.

"This Is Me Trying"

Taylor Swift This Is Me Trying Eras Tour

Performed at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona (March 18, 2023)

“I keep forgetting what key it’s in — one second. It’s lost all concept to me,” Swift joked before launching into the emotional Folklore track as the first of two surprise songs, at the second show of The Eras Tour.

"State of Grace"

Taylor Swift State of Grace Eras Tour

Swift brought the Red album opener down to its roots as a piano ballad in Glendale. Her delicate vocals were echoed by a stadium of thousands joining in, making for a chilling moment of connection between a singer-songwriter and her fans.

Performed at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (March 24, 2023)

“I do get ideas from places. I actually saw an interview that Beabadoobee did — who is our amazing, brilliant opening act tonight — and they were saying, ‘Oh, you’re going on The Eras Tour. What song might you want to hear?’ And she was like, ‘I grew up listening to songs on her first album.’ And she named a specific song. So I figured, you know what, for her first show with us, I’ll play the specific song that she said she would want to hear. So this is a song I wrote for my ninth-grade talent show. It’s called ‘Our Song.’”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by billboard (@billboard)

"Snow on the Beach"

“Lana Del Rey put out a new album. It’s called Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Guys, it’s so good. You probably already know that, but it’s just extraordinary. I just think she’s the best that we have. I think we need to make it a priority as a group to stream, buy, support this album and this artist. She knows I’m obsessed with her, and she was kind enough to make a song with me on Midnights called ‘Snow on the Beach’ because she’s a generous king. She did that for me, and I’ll never forget how nice she’s been to me. It’s so cool when you have favorite artists and they turn out to be so nice to you. I wanted to just do some promo for her, and also, in honor of this brilliant album that she just put out, I wanted to play ‘Snow on the Beach.’”

"Cowboy Like Me" (with Marcus Mumford)

Performed at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas (March 25, 2023)

“Las Vegas, Nevada, you are so lucky, because we do have a special guest with us tonight,” Swift told the sold-out crowd when introducing Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford. “Would you sing ‘Cowboy Like Me’ with me?” The duo paired up for the 2020 Evermore duet.

“Sad Beautiful Tragic”

Performed at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (March 31, 2023)

Swift worked in “Sad Beautiful Tragic” from Red to the setlist during her acoustic portion of the Arlington show. Strumming it on just an acoustic guitar, she introduced the song saying, “I love this one. When I love a song, I don’t care what anyone says.”

“I have a really, really, really wonderful, incredible person in my life who I’ve been making music with,” Swift said, bringing Aaron Dessner out on her stage for a second time this tour and joining him at the piano bench. “…We wrote this song that I really love because it allowed me to get a lot off my chest, and now we’re gonna sing it for you — ’cause who doesn’t love a mad woman?”

Swift picked up the guitar for surprise song No. 2 of the night, complimenting the particularly loud Tampa crowd. She explained that she thought she’d play a song they might know and want to sing along with. “Just thought that would be nice, which is the opposite of mean,” she quipped.

“You make every day on this tour feel like a fairytale,” Swift told her fans before performing the song, originally featured on the soundtrack for the 2010 film Valentine’s Day , on piano. (At the second of three Houston shows, she admitted that The Eras Tour has basically become her “entire personality.”)

Performed at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas (April 23, 2023)

“We’ve come to the acoustic era,” Swift said as she set up for the two surprise songs of the evening at the end of the catwalk. Before launching into the Red track, she told the crowd, “I hope that if you know it, you sing along” — and they did.

"Cold as You"

“No shade to the other songs on the album,” Swift joked, expressing an utmost love for the emotional ballad from her debut album, which she played at the piano for the night three Houston audience. “Cold as You” immediately trended on Twitter while she sang the song live on tour for the first time in a decade.

"The Other Side of the Door"

Performed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia (April 28, 2023)

“This is one of my favorite moments in the show because it kind of keeps me on my toes,” Swift said to a wild crowd in Atlanta.

“When I was rerecording my album Fearless , I looked back and I was listening to this one … I remember when I wrote this one I was so obsessed with this sort of, like, rant I put at the end of the song,” she said, hinting at the deep cut that was to come. “And I never, I don’t think I really got to perform it live. If I ever I ever did, it was not enough times, so I’d really love to play the song. It’s called ‘The Other Side of the Door.'”

"Coney Island"

A pretty long speech came before the first-ever solo (and first-ever at all) live performance of the heart-wrenching Evermore highlight, originally a duet with with Matt Berninger.

“Any time I’m gonna talk about or even reference another artist, I feel inclined to tell you that if they’re not here, they’re not here,” she warned the crowd. “No one else is here. You are stuck with me. It’s only me. But I am gonna talk about another artist. I just feel like, you know, stadiums are huge and it’s important to really communicate, so that’s what I’m doing. I’m gonna talk about another artist who has an album that just came out that is so incredible. The National just had an album come out. This band has influenced me beyond my ability to verbalize how much they’ve influenced me — just lyrically, their ability to set a scene, their ability to tell a story. And obviously, Aaron Dessner is in The National and he has completely changed my life. I was lucky enough to be able to write a song with them for their new album, which is called the First Two Pages of Frankenstein . Check it out, stream it, buy it on vinyl. I love them so much. They’ve been so kind to me. So, I’m not gonna sing the song that we have on this new album — it’s called ‘The Alcott’ — check that out, though. But I am gonna sing ‘Coney Island.'”

“I’ve been planning something for a while. You know how I love to plan things. You know how I love to surprise you… It’s my love language with you,” Swift teased during her first night in Nashville on The Eras Tour. “I plot, I scheme, I plan.”

“Rather than me speaking about it,” she said with a grin, “I thought I would just show you — If you would direct your attention to the back screen.” The screen announced that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) will be released on July 7, and Swift then launched into the album track “Sparks Fly” on acoustic guitar.

"Teardrops on My Guitar"

Before playing the next surprise song at the piano, a selection from her debut, Swift reflected on her early years in Nashville, noting that she’d moved to the city while in eighth grade. “I’d been writing songs since I was 12, but when I think about Nashville I think about writing all the songs that would end up on my first album,” she told the crowd.

"Would've, Could've, Should've"

Performed at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee (May 7, 2023)

Swift welcomed “kind, wonderful genius” Aaron Dessner to the stage on a stormy night in Nashville to join her on the surprise song from the 3AM version of Midnights . “He was warned about the rain, and he did accept the challenge anyway,” she said.

“Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” was “one of our favorites when we made it,” Swift noted.

“I want to play a song that when I wrote it, I was writing about all these relationship things that hadn’t happened yet,” Swift said from her seat at the piano. She described how “it’s crazy” to go back and listen to songs that at the time were rooted in “fantasy” but at her age now are relatable, and then introduced the Speak Now track that was coming next: “This is called ‘Mine,'” Swift said.

Performed at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (May 12, 2023)

“I wanted to start out with this one in Philly because there was sort of a — I don’t know how large the debate was, but I did see the debate,” Swift told the audience, referencing the “Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door” lyrics from “Gold Rush.”

“I saw some people wondering if it was the band the Eagles or the team the Eagles,” the singer added. “And I love the band the Eagles, but guys, like, come on, I’m from Philly.”

"The Best Day"

Tears had to have been aplenty throughout the stadium on Mother’s Day as Swift told the story of “The Best Day” and performed it on piano.

“I secretly recorded a song on Fearless ,” she told the crowd, recalling being 16 or 17 at the time and explaining that it was very tricky to get this project done without her mother knowing. “It was very sneaky and fun,” she said.

“I wrote this song just compiling these sort of core childhood memories I had of not just her as a mother but her as a friend,” Swift said. After playing the sweet song for her mom for the first time, while showing her the video of personal family footage set to the track that she edited together herself, she asked her mom, “Did you like the song?” “It’s such a beautiful song. Where did you find it? It sounds exactly like the things we went through” Mom replied, not even comprehending that her own daughter would write a song about the two of them. “I wrote it and recorded it secretly,” Taylor told her. “It is our memories. That’s about us.” Needless to say, there were plenty of tears that day, too.

Before giving this Midnights track its live debut, Swift got candid with fans about how her life’s going behind the scenes.

“I kind of just feel like telling you … I’ve just never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life, ever,” she gushed. “And I just want to thank you for being a part of that. For the first time in Eras Tour history, Swift performed both surprise songs on guitar. That’s because her piano took on a life of its own after getting damaged by rain during the show the night prior, causing Swift to last-minute switch over to guitar for “Red.”

“Literally, it was like a water park under the stage,” she recalled to fans at the May 21 show. “This has clearly broken my keyboard. It was literally underwater — I don’t know how any of the instruments were working last night.”

“I know you’ve wanted to hear this song,” Swift teased before her first surprise acoustic offering. And she wasn’t exaggerating. The pick was “Getaway Car,” a beloved fan fave, and for the song, frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff joined her on stage. “He’s been one of my best friends — he feels like a family member,” Swift said while welcoming “Jersey’s own” Antonoff. In addition to singing lead on a few lines, Antonoff aided Swift with some forceful acoustic strumming on the Reputation highlight.

Midnights is the most recent album to drop before Taylor’s Eras Tour, so it’s no surprise that it takes up a good portion of the setlist. Even so, the standard Eras Tour setlist doesn’t include one of the album’s absolute best songs — but the evening’s night’s crowd was in for a treat. “This is one of my favorites off Midnights , but I haven’t played it yet,” Swift said, before performing a gorgeous rendition of “Maroon” while seated at an upright piano festooned with a floral design.

Swift prefaced her “Dear John” performance by encouraging fans to show “kindness and gentleness” on the internet ahead of her  Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)  album release on July 7.

“I’m 33 years old. I don’t care about anything that happened to me when I was 19,” she said when introducing the 2010 ballad, about a toxic relationship with an older man, widely assumed to be the singer’s ex-boyfriend  John Mayer .

“I’m not putting this album out so that you can go and should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 billion years ago.”

“Dear John” appears on Swift’s third album,  Speak Now . The track peaked at No. 54 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2010.

She welcomed Gracie Abrams to the stage. The pair shared a hug and vocals on Abrams’ “I Miss You, I’m Sorry,” with Swift on guitar and Abrams on piano.

"Right Where You Left Me"

Performed at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. (July 28, 2023)

Swift teamed up with her frequent collaborator  Aaron Dessner  for the first live performance of “Right Where You Left Me” in Santa Clara, Calif., on July 28. Prior to the performance, Swift warned concert-goers that it was one of her more challenging songs to play live.

“Because it’s one of our favorites, there’s more pressure on it,” Swift  told  the crowd. “Also, this is one of the wordiest songs. I have been rehearsing this for weeks, OK? And I’ve never, ever gotten it 100% right. Not even one time. If this is the time that I get it right, you have no idea what kind of celebration I’m going to be exhibiting after that. And also, this goes for you. If you can get all the words right to this song, you get to pat yourself on the back. You win an imaginary prize. It’s yours. We love this song and I hope that I somewhat do it justice.”

As expected, the songstress goofed up the lyrics before laughing it off and starting again where they left off. “It was too good to be true!” she said. “I knew that I would f— that up! We really can’t let that be it, so now we’ve got to go back.”

When Swift played the opening chords of “Exile” from 2020’s  Folklore  for the second surprise song, the crowd cheered wildly and started searching the stage for her duet partner  Bon Iver . After all, the only other time Swift has performed the song live is alongside Justin Vernon when she  popped up during a Bon Iver concert in London  last year. But the singer/songwriter ended up performing the duet solo instead on Monday night – which made for an incredible communal experience when the crowd filled in for Vernon on the bridge, creating a powerful call-and-response between Swift and her ever-prepared fans.

Taylor Swift Hits Recording Studio in N.Y.C. Between Tour Stops Ahead of 'Speak Now' Re-Release

The singer is currently performing her Eras Tour across the U.S.

Robert O'Neil / SplashNews.com

Taylor Swift has music on her mind.

The "Anti-Hero" singer, 33, was spotted taking a break from her Eras Tour with a trip to a recording studio in New York City this week.

Dressed in a loose-fitting, long black dress that was cinched at the waist with a belt, Swift accessorized the look with black sandals and oversized shades.

The studio visit came on the same day that Swift shared a post on Instagram celebrating her recent tour dates.

Posting a series of photos from her performances in New Jersey, Swift wrote in her caption that the shows "were a dreamscape and totally overwhelming,” adding: “This tour has become my entire personality.”

Swift's recent visit to the recording studio took place after she was spotted arriving at Electric Lady Studios in New York City last week, soon after  announcing  Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) , a deluxe version of her latest album, which dropped on Friday.

Midnights (Til Dawn Edition) includes a remix of fan-favorite track "Karma" featuring rapper  Ice Spice , as well as a new, longer version of "Snow on the Beach" with additional vocals from  Lana Del Rey ,  plus "Hits Different," which was previously released as a Target exclusive track.

For that outing, the singer-songwriter stepped out in a white embellished tank and long flowy skirt, with a matching nude shoulder bag and sandals. She pulled her blonde locks up into a ponytail to show off her classic cat eye and red lip.

Swift was previously seen at the famed recording studio in Greenwich Village a week earlier as well, where she was joined by  The 1975 ’s Matty Healy, whom she has been romantically linked to following her  breakup  with long-term boyfriend  Joe Alwyn .

Swift has a lot going on at the moment. During her Nashville show on May 5, she  announced that  Speak Now (Taylor's Version)  will be released on July 7 .

The new version of her third studio album will feature 22 tracks, including six brand-new songs from the vault.

"I first made  Speak Now , completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness," she wrote on Instagram upon the announcement.

The musician continued, "I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate  Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)  with you on July 7th."

The announcement arrived two months into Swift's run on the Eras Tour, which kicked off  back in March in Arizona  and has continued to keep fans entertained with surprise songs,  surprise guests  and lengthy setlists.

Taylor Swift put out a fire in her NYC apartment: Watch Gracie Abrams' video of the ordeal

It's no secret Taylor Swift's music ignites a fire in her fans, but now she's battling actual flames in her own New York City apartment.

The music megastar's "Us" collaborator Gracie Abrams shocked the internet with a new video on Instagram showing Swift putting out a small fire in her kitchen using a fire extinguisher.

"Writing this entire song from 2am to 6am was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. @taylorswift now we know how to use a fire extinguisher. I love you," Abrams captioned an Instagram post including the video.

In the video, a fire appears to have been accidentally started on the popstar's marble counters apparently at her New York City apartment and Swift asks Abrams "What do I do about this?" while holding a fire extinguisher.

Abrams responds, "OK you're going to fire extinguish it," before Swift says "I think we're going to die" repeatedly.

After wrapping up her conversation, Swift stepped into frame in a pink dress and heels, reaching for her partner’s hand as they walked down a ramp.

“THEY ARE DRESSED NICE WHERE ARE THEY GOING?!” one X user asked.

Another gushed , “going on a date after a 3+ hour show?! and they say love is dead.”

Taylor Swift appears to clap back at Dave Grohl after his Eras Tour remarks

By Caitlin O'Kane

Updated on: June 25, 2024 / 11:50 AM EDT / CBS News

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl took an apparent jab at Taylor Swift during his band's London tour stop this week – and now Swift, who was also in the city for her own tour , is seemingly clapping back.

"I tell you, man, you don't want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift," Grohl told the crowd at London Stadium on Saturday.

Just across the city at Wembley Stadium, Swift was performing the second of three shows on her Eras Tour stop in the English capital.

"So we like to call our tour the 'Errors Tour,'" Grohl joked. "We've had more than a few eras and more than a few f***ing errors as well. Just a couple. That's because we actually play live."

Videos of Grohl's remarks were posted online and some people took him to mean Swift doesn't perform live.

The next night, during her third show in London, Swift appeared to respond to Grohl's comments without naming any names. "Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band, who's gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much," she said. "And so does every one of my fellow performers."

Swift's Era's tour has been wildly successfu l and last year became the  first concert tour to gross more than $1 billion , according to Pollstar.

Many celebrities were spotted during Swift's London shows – including Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear, who was photographed with Salma Hayek and Stella McCartney.

Some critics called Grohl's comments misogynistic, but supporters said he was just expressing frustration with some artists using backing vocals.

One social media user pointed out that Grohl's 17-year-old daughter faced backlash from Swifties earlier this year when she criticized the singer's use of a private jet. "Wow I wonder what prompted Dave Grohl to take a little swipe at Taylor Swift?" the person wrote on social media. "I'm sure it's totally unprovoked & not at all to do with his 17-year-old daughter being relentlessly trolled & sent death threats from Swifties because of this totally innocuous tweet back in January."

The Taylor Swift Economy Has Landed in Europe

Economists are debating what effect the singer’s sweep through Europe will have this summer as swarms of fans increase demand for hotels and services.

Images of Taylor Swift are projected on a giant screen during a performance.

By Eshe Nelson

Reporting from London

It’s not just Taylor Swift fans keeping a close eye on her Eras Tour dates. One of Europe’s most prominent economists is acutely aware that the singer is spending the summer jetting between Europe’s stadiums.

Philip Lane, the chief economist at the European Central Bank, had the pop star on his mind when he spoke at an event on Monday. The interviewer had asked him about the risk that stubborn inflation in the services sector could intensify, especially with Europe heading into a particularly busy summer with the Olympics in Paris and the Euro 2024 soccer championship in Germany.

“Well, that’s very interesting,” he said at the event . “You managed to say all that without saying Taylor Swift.”

Ms. Swift is touring Europe this summer, bringing in her wake hundreds of thousands of Swifties spending on airfare, hotels, restaurants and friendship bracelets . On Friday, she will perform the first of eight shows at London’s Wembley Stadium; about 700,000 people are expected to see the shows in the British capital. And analysts are debating the economic footprint it will leave.

Economists in the United States know that Eras is an economic tour de force. As consumers splurged on concerts, meals, vacations and other recreational experiences they missed out on during pandemic lockdowns, one company estimated that the tour could generate $4.6 billion in North America alone from spending on tickets, merchandise and travel.

Central bankers are justified in scrutinizing the potential inflationary effects of the arrival of a global superstar: In May last year, when Beyoncé kicked off her Renaissance World Tour in Stockholm, an economist attributed a blip in the inflation data to the singer’s concert, as fans traveled from afar to witness the first show.

Europe’s central banks have started to cut interest rates — or are poised to — as inflation has slowed substantially over the past year, putting their 2 percent target rates within sight. But there are lingering concerns that inflationary pressures have not been stamped out because price gains for services, which include hotels and restaurants, are repeatedly higher than expected.

The demand that the Eras Tour creates for hotel rooms and flights across Europe could push up prices that feed into each country’s inflation rate. Central bankers are sensitive to even minute changes in the data as they try to distinguish one-off effects from lasting ones. If central bankers worry that inflation is not slowing as expected, they could hold off cutting rates.

“All those tiny quirks are going to matter a lot,” said Lucas Krishan, a strategist at TD Securities in London. They can “muddle the picture for central banks heading into these decisions.”

Last month, Portugal’s inflation rate accelerated, in part because of a jump in hotel prices in Lisbon “resulting from a major cultural event,” the country’s statistics office said. Ms. Swift performed in Lisbon on May 24 and 25.

The impact that events like Ms. Swift’s tour have on inflation can be mitigated by how well a country’s economists anticipate the effect of her concerts so investors and others are not surprised by the data. Policymakers at the European Central Bank have said that the path back to 2 percent inflation will be “bumpy” and that a relatively strong tourism season is already baked into their forecasts.

But Mr. Krishan said it was possible that Ms. Swift's concerts in August, when the tour swings back through London, could increase services inflation in Britain, especially because one of her tour dates may coincide with the day that the nation’s statistics agency records price data. If hotel prices follow the pattern set when she played in Liverpool this month, services inflation could rise as much as 0.3 percentage points. Higher-than-expected inflation data in August could encourage Bank of England officials to hold off on cutting rates in September, Mr. Krishan said.

Other analysts are skeptical of Ms. Swift’s ability to have a seismic impact that shows up in national statistics.

“Taylor Swift is unlikely to be affecting central bank policy. She’s unlikely to be affecting government policy,” said George Moran, an economist at Nomura. “And I don’t think it’s a sustainable option for growth in a country to rely on having superstar concerts.”

Barclays predicted that Ms. Swift's tour would lead to a bump of nearly 1 billion pounds ($1.3 billion) in the British economy , but those suggestions are hard to substantiate, Mr. Moran said, because no one knows how much people are diverting their spending from other activities. Even then, £1 billion would not be enough to revitalize Britain’s stagnant economy .

Still, Mr. Moran added that for individual cities and certain sectors, the tour could have a meaningful impact. When tickets went on sale last summer, Airbnb searches in host cities increased more than 300 percent on average, the company said. The Greater London authority estimated that Ms. Swift’s eight London shows would generate £300 million for the economy .

“The impact is going to be more local than macro,” Mr. Moran said. “Taylor Swift is obviously a massive phenomenon, and the areas that she’s visiting is causing a big buzz in the hospitality sector.”
