SZA Extends ‘SOS’ North American Arena Tour Through Fall 2023

SZA has extended her North American tour in support of her celebrated new album, SOS . Earlier this year, the singer completed 17 shows for her first-ever arena tour between February and March. Now, she’s plotting her return with 21 additional dates scheduled for this fall.

The R&B star will pick up where she left off on Sept. 20 in Miami and close out the second leg of the tour on Oct. 29 in Phoenix. The new shows include stops in Brooklyn, Toronto, Newark, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and more.

Tickets for all new shows will go on sale this Friday, April 14 at 12 p.m. local time. Full details are available on SZA’s website . 

SZA released SOS on Friday, Dec. 9, five years after the arrival of her celebrated 2017 debut, Ctrl . The 23-track album featured an array of collaborators , including Travis Scott, Don Tolliver, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, as well as a cameo from Phoebe Bridgers on “Ghost In the Machine.”

I saw her last night in San Antonio, TX, it was my daughter first concert, and she did not disappoint. She is amazing live! Well worth the money spent. From the settings to the chorography her team did a fantastic job. The concert kept us on our feet the entire time. I will defiantly go see her again when she returns.

Truly amazing! Her performance was full of heaps of energy and soul. A beautiful mixture of singing, dancing and a quick preview of her of her acrobatic skills! One of the best musicians to see in concert. Would be darn near impossible to not sway and jump when she's on stage. I've waited so long to see her and she did not disappoint. Really hope to see SZA in London more!!!

Amazing show! Sza sounded amazing! She looked like she was having an awesome time while performing and the crowd loved her. The energy in the venue was hella dope! At one point she instructed security to find any cases of water around to pass out to the people on the floor, saying "get the cases from the tour bus." I thought that was super cool of her.

SZA Adds 2023 North American Tour Dates

SZA has announced a stretch of new tour dates through North America in September and October, along with a European run in June. Raye will join SZA in Europe. See all of the newly added dates below.

SZA scored her first No. 1 album with SOS upon its release in December, and had one of the biggest debut streaming weeks of any album in 2022. The singer’s long-awaited second album stayed atop the charts for 10 consecutive weeks. It was first record by a woman to do so in seven years, following Adele’s 25 .

SZA ‘s 2023 just got busier. The “Kill Bill” singer revealed on Tuesday (April 11) that she’s extending of her S.O.S. tour, which will see her traveling across Europe and more cities in North America starting this summer.

SZA announces 2023 tour dates

SZA has announced details of a North American arena tour for 2023. The run of shows follows the release of new album SOS , which dropped on December 9.

The SOS tour will hit 17 different cities, starting in Columbus, Ohio on February 21. SZA will perform at New York's Madison Square Garden half-way through the tour before rapping things up with a hometown show in Los Angeles on March 22. Tickets go on sale starting Friday, December 16 at 12pm local time.

Prior to releasing SOS , SZA performed on Saturday Night Live alongside guest host Keke Palmer. The arrival of the new project marked the end of a five-year gap between albums for the St. Louis-born artist. In the interim period she shared the singles "I Hate U" and "Good Days" as well as collaborating with Doja Cat on the Grammy-winning "Kiss Me More."

On the heels of releasing her long-awaited sophomore album, SOS , SZA has finally announced her first run of live shows in years — and her first-ever North American arena headlining tour set to take place in spring 2023, the singer unveiled on Tuesday.

The upcoming “SOS” North American tour kicking off in February will take the singer to major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, where she’ll headline iconic stadiums such as Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, New York’s Madison Square Garden, and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum for the first time. The 17-date run kicks off Feb. 21 in Columbus, OH, and wraps up a month later, on March 22, in L.A.

Besides it being her arena debut, the tour also marks the “Shirt” singer’s first-ever live performances of her sophomore album, SOS . Gen Z hero Omar Apollo has also been confirmed as the sole opener for the shows, which is sure to make each night’s performance extra special.

SZA’s last headlining tour was in 2018 in support of her acclaimed debut album, CTRL, so it’s certainly been a while since she and fans have been face-to-face.

SZA has announced a North American tour for 2023.

The 17-date tour, in support of her new album ‘SOS’, marks the singer’s first time playing arenas. It kicks off in Columbus, Ohio, on February 21 before making stops in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Vancouver, and more.

The tour will conclude on March 22 at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. Omar Apollo is set to open for SZA on all dates.

SZA released her second album ‘SOS’ on Friday, which she says is her last ever, five years after her debut album ‘CTRL’ . It received a five-star review from  NME,  with writer Rhian Daly praising the album as “a phenomenal record that barely puts a foot wrong and raises the bar even higher than she set it before.”

The artist also revealed recently that the album’s artwork, which sees her sitting on the edge of a white diving board above a body of water, was inspired by a photo of Princess Diana .

The photograph of Princess Diana was taken in 1997, and sees her in a similar pose aboard a yacht during a trip in Portofino, Italy, also surrounded by the sea. Fans spotted similarities between the two images earlier this week, sharing their observations with SZA on social media.

“Originally I was supposed to be on top of a shipping barge, but in the references that I pulled for that, I pulled the Diana reference,” SZA said when asked about the reference during a recent interview with  Hot 97 .

“Because I just loved how she isolated she felt, and that was what I wanted to convey the most.”

Coming in support of her excellent new album  SOS ,  SZA will hit the road February 21st in Columbus, Ohio, zig-zagging through the midwest and up into Canada. In March she’ll head down the east coast and hook through the south, jumping up to the pacific northwest and wrapping March 22nd in Los Angeles, California.

“I love touring,” SZA said in our recent Consequence  cover story . “Touring is healing. That’s it. It definitely reminds you that people love you and not everybody is a reflection of the Internet that’s just trying to troll you. Like even if some of those people are people who troll you, they are fans. No one ever pays for a ticket to treat me like shit. So that’s a blessing.”

SZA just dropped an “S.O.S.,” and it certainly got our attention.

The hugely popular alternative R&B star released her new album “S.O.S.” on Dec. 9, and shortly after, she announced a 17-concert tour with the same name to go with it.

She’s ready to get her new music out to the fans too.

“Time to take this s–t on the road,” SZA shared on Instagram .

Just a few of the huge locales she’s set to hit on the run include Chicago (Feb. 22), Detroit (Feb. 24), Boston (Feb 28), Philadelphia (March 2) and Los Angeles (March 22).

And while she was just in New York for an appearance at NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” she’ll be returning to the Big Apple on March 4 to headline at Madison Square Garden .

On the run, SZA will be joined by special guest singer-songwriter Omar Apollo.

Apollo, 25, is known for his indefinable, lo-fi sound that blends R&B, pop, soul, Latin music, and bedroom pop. For those looking for an introduction to his music, click play on his smash single “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All),” which went viral on TikTok.

Rumors online have suggested the song tells the story of Apollo’s relationship with singer Frank Ocean. Apollo squashed the speculation though tweeting , “Evergreen is about an Aquarius man.”

“S.O.S.” is SZA’s first full-length album since 2017’s “CTRL,” and it appears to have been well worth the wait.

The R&B singer made headlines recently when she chatted with Audacy following her stint as the musical guest on the Dec. 3 episode of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”

In the show, a sketch titled “United Tingz of Aubrey” imagined a world where Drake’s exes, flings and women he met in passing filed a class-action lawsuit against him for using them as inspiration for lyrics.

“In a strange way, I was like, ‘Did they know?'” she said in the interview. “But they didn’t ask me to be in it. …I feel like Drake has a Regina George quality to him… He’s like a cool kid, you know. When you’re the popular kid in school, it’s entertaining. It’s entertaining, but you sometimes are taking losses in the midst of that entertainment.”

SZA’s ‘SOS Tour’ Will Continue With An Extended North American Run And A Visit To Europe With RAYE

SZA’s North American SOS Tour reportedly grossed $10 million but the TDE singer isn’t done yet. While the first part of the tour was attended by luminaries like Adele and Justin Bieber and supported by special guests like Phoebe Bridgers , Cardi B , and Lizzo , SZA just announced a second slate of US and Canada dates scheduled after her return from the European leg of the tour. The additional dates include a makeup show in Philadelphia without opener Omar Apollo, who performed without SZA in March. You can see the new dates below.

SZA will bring her dazzling ‘S.O.S.’ tour to Europe and then back to North America this summer and fall, the singer announced on Wednesday. The show, in support of her recent blockbuster album of the same name, will feature 10 dates across Europe — with highly touted British singer Raye in support — before returning to North America for another 23 shows.

R&B songstress SZA is heading back on the road for the second leg of her “SOS Tour.” The singer-songwriter (and Billboard’s 2023 Woman of the Year ) kicked off her tour in February, and her North American leg originally ended a month later. But due to overwhelming demand, the singer has added new U.S. dates, with a stop in Toronto, Canada as well.

What time is SZA on stage at Glastonbury?

T he world’s greatest music festival, Glastonbury , opened yesterday with thousands of lucky ticket holders heading to the Somerset farm armed with tents and expectation.

As many as 2,000 acts will play over the weekend, with every music taste catered for. From legendary musicians such as PJ Harvey, Coldplay and Red Hot Chili Peppers, to Grammy-winning acts such as SZA and Burna Boy , to the coolest pop stars of the moment Charli XCX and Shygirl and top rappers such as Ghetts and Little Simz, as always, this year’s programme is rammed full of incredible artists.

And with so many brilliant acts to see, both fans at the festival, and those watching from home, fans have to get their timing right. So SZA stans, this is what you need to know...

SZA will be performing on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday between 21:30 and 23:15.

Can I still get tickets?

Afraid not, that ship has well and truly sailed.

Can I watch the show on the BBC?

Yes, music fans will be able to watch recaps of the various performances from home, and in some cases whole sets will be livestreamed. For example, for the first time ever, Dua Lipa and Coldplay’s sets will be livestreamed globally via BBC.com.

The BBC has expanded its Glastonbury coverage this year, and there will be 10 channels on BBC iPlayer dedicated to the festival, including Glastonbury Channel Live (which will stream over 90 hours of live performances), Glastonbury Channel II, Pyramid Stage – Signed and Classic Glastonbury Channel. On top of this, extensive highlights of the festival will be covered on BBC Two and BBC Sounds.

So while we don’t know how much of SZA’s set will be available to watch, fans can be assured that they’ll be able to see at least some of the Missouri singer’s Sunday performance.

What will the setlist be?

We’re not sure yet, but given that SZA will be releasing her third studio album, Lana, later this year, we’re hoping she’ll tease a few of her new songs.

Glastonbury , the world’s most famous music festival, returns this week and will see thousands of fans flocking to Worthy Farm in Somerset.

Co-organiser Emily Eavis and her team are preparing to welcome revellers to the site and play host to some of the biggest artists across pop, rock, indie, R&B, rap, punk and soul.

The gates to Glastonbury Festival 2024 will open at around 8am Wednesday 26 June, with the event running until Sunday 30 June. The majority of the live music performances take place between 29-30 June, with many of them also shown on TV.

A word of warning: there is no entertainment or facilities in the Glastonbury car parks, and guests are expected to remain in their cars until the festival gates open. Car parks will be open from 9pm on Tuesday 25 June, allowing festival-goers to avoid the worst of the traffic and arrive through the night.

Who’s playing Glastonbury this year?

After months of speculation and rumours that several bookings had fallen through, this year’s festival will be headlined by Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA , while country-pop superstar Shania Twain will take on the Legends Slot.

It was rumoured that Madonna was a strong contender to headline, as Eavis has previously expressed her desire to have the pop icon play the Pyramid Stage. However, The Independent understands that negotiations collapsed due to various requirements from the “Hung Up” star’s team, including the estimated cost of putting on a show that would match her 2024 Celebration tour.

Other rumoured artists in the running were Stevie Nicks, Cher and Stevie Wonder.

Other artists on the lineup include Avril Lavigne, Cyndi Lauper, Little Simz, Seventeen, Idles, The Last Dinner Party, Camila Cabello, Burna Boy, London Grammar, PJ Harvey, Janelle Monae, Fat White Family, Sugababes, Fatboy Slim, Michael Kiwanuka, Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club, Jessie Ware and Paloma Faith.

Are there any Glastonbury 2024 tickets left and how much do they cost?

The Glastonbury resale took place in April and, due to typically high demand, sold out in just 22 minutes. The cost of getting into the 2024 festival was £360 per person including the booking fee, up from £340 last year.

Eavis justified the hike last year in a statement that said: “We have tried very hard to minimise the increase in price on the ticket but we’re facing enormous rises in the costs of running this vast show, while still recovering from the huge financial impact of two years without a festival because of Covid.”

Are there any other ways to get into Glastonbury festival?

Besides the general resale, another great way to get into Glastonbury is by volunteering. Registration to volunteer for charities WaterAid and Oxfam has closed, but spaces do occasionally become available if people drop out.

Greenpeace also offers free entry to the festival and three meals a day to volunteers. In return, you are expected to work a minimum of five eight-hour shifts during the festival between 25 June and 1 July. However, applications for 2024 are now also closed.

Festivalgoers heading to Glastonbury 2024 will see Dua Lipa, SZA and Coldplay headlining the famous Pyramid Stage. And while it costs a pretty penny for those attending - £355 for a ticket, to be precise - how much can the acts they're there to see expect to rake in from it?

It's not quite as much as you'd think. Despite Glastonbury being one of the most famous music festivals in the world, it's more about the love of Worthy Farm than the chance to earn a small fortune.

Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis previously revealed their act pay structure, with Michael saying: "I paid £200,000 for Paul McCartney and for Coldplay, and although it sounds a lot, they could have charged me far more."

Emily has also spoken about how the festival's performers are typically paid a fraction of what they’d usually expect from a major music festival. Talking to BBC Radio 6, she explained: "We're not in the same bracket as everyone else when it comes to paying artists massive fees. We're really grateful for the bands that we get because they're basically doing it for the love of it.

"It's probably less than 10 per cent of what they'd get from playing any of the other major British festivals, [so] Glastonbury relies completely on goodwill."

While the offer of "exposure" doesn't pay the bills for us mere mortals, when it's one of the world's biggest stages things are a little different. On George Ezra's podcast , Emily previously explained: "Because of the TV and because of the exposure that they (acts) get, they do go on to do really well afterwards, so they'll sell records afterwards.

"So we're saying 'look, come and do this but even though there's a small fee, we can almost guarantee afterwards you'll make up for it'."

Bestival organiser Rob Da Bank, previously told SomersetLive that Glastonbury has a cap on its budget - so for many, playing there is more about the experience and kudos that comes with it.

He explained: "They cap their budget and even the headliners don't get paid more than £500,000 I think, which is cheap for some of the headliners and they've had a lot of them. So, that's proof of it's huge, huge influence."

And while the exact fee for each headliner is never revealed publicly, Lyle Bignon - a music consultant specialising in live music venues and festivals told Metro : "The likes of Elton John and Guns N' Roses, who have decades of global fame behind them, can likely command higher prices running into the £250,000+ range."

In contrast, headliners at other UK festivals can earn upwards of £1million for their performances, according to reports. In the USA, Billboard said Beyoncé was paid £3.2million for her Coachella performance in 2018.

Relying more on goodwill means Glastonbury is able to make big donations to a range of charitable causes. In December 2023 it said it had made payments of over £3.7m to charities.

Tyler the Creator won't take the stage at Lollapalooza in Chicago this year, the festival says.

In a post shared on June 20, the festival said the rapper will instead be replaced with another act: Megan Thee Stallion.

"Hot girl summer in Chicago," the festival captioned the post. "Unfortunately, Tyler, the Creator will not be able to perform this year. See  @theestallion  headline Lolla on Thursday, August 1st!"

Also slated to perform this summer are Blink-182, SZA and the Killers.

The annual festival's organizers announced the event's full star-studded lineup on March 19. Six days later, organizers shared the event's day-by-day lineup .

The four-day festival takes place Aug. 1-4 in Grant Park and will also feature headlining sets by Hozier, Stray Kids, Melanie Martinez, Future X Metro Boomin and Skrillex. More than 150 other acts will also perform across eight stages during the festival.

Who is performing at Lollapalooza 2024?

The 2024 Lollapalooza headliners are Blink-182, SZA, the Killers, Megan Thee Stallion, Hozier, Future X Metro Boomin, Stray Kids, Melanie Martinez and Skrillex.

Other big names on the roster include "Mean Girls" star Reneé Rapp , Kesha , the Deftones, Tate McRae , Cults and Brandi Cyrus.

The festival's lineup features more than 170 acts from around the world performing across eight stages.

On which days will the festival's headliners perform?

Megan Thee Stallion, and Hozier kick off Lollapalooza as headliners on Thursday, Aug. 1.

SZA and the Stray Kids will headline on Friday, Aug. 2.

The Killers and Future X Metro Boomin headline the festival on Saturday, Aug. 3, with Skrillex also treating fans to a performance on that night.

Blink-182 and Melanie Martinez will headline the festival's final day on Sunday, Aug. 4.
