Since Riverdance first emerged onto the world stage, its fusion of Irish and international dance and music has captured the hearts of millions worldwide. The Grammy award-winning music and the infectious energy of its mesmerising choreography and breathtaking performances has left audiences in awe and established Riverdance as a global cultural sensation. 

To celebrate this incredible 30th year milestone, Riverdance will embark on a special anniversary tour, bringing its magic to audiences around the world.  This spectacular production rejuvenates the much-loved original show with new innovative choreography and costumes and state of the art lighting, projection and motion graphics. And for the first time Riverdance welcomes “The New Generation” of performers, all of whom were not born when show began 30 years ago.

The Story Of Riverdance

Riverdance had a humble beginning as a 7-minute long interval filler at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest. The interlude earned a standing ovation; all it took was this little spark and the show was developed into a fully-fledged production. Initially featuring Irish dancing champions Michael Flatley and Jean Butler as its principal dancers, the show is now a training ground for Ireland's top dancers as well as the rising stars of Flamenco, Russian and Tap Dancing.  A celebration of Ireland's cultural heritage, history and mythology, the production revolves around the intricate footwork of traditional Irish dance set to the haunting melodies and rousing rhythms of the nation's musical identity. The awe-inspiring skill of the dancers and the thunderous, pulsing beat of their hard shoes against the stage floor is simply captivating, whilst the musicians positioned on stage play their own principal role - their music is spirited, joyful and not banished to the confines of the orchestra pit. When the two meet, the ceilidh-like on-stage energy is palpable and infectious. Moving as swiftly as its dancers, Riverdance's choreography ranges from an Irish Jig to Jazz tap to Spanish dancing. It's this embrace of other cultures and styles that makes the show as relevant and exciting as ever.

Review: RIVERDANCE 25TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW at Kennedy Center

The spectacular looks better than ever!

Twenty-seven years ago, the international dance phenomenon known as Riverdance began enchanting audiences. Twenty- five years ago it began touring the world and to this day millions of people have been enthralled by it's mix of music, dance and musicianship. Oddly enough, it's current engagement at Kennedy Center's Opera House is the first time the show has played that particular venue so it was truly an experience seeing the show in this grand hall. Seeing it on St. Patrick's Day also added a whole new level for sure. Oh, some of the audience outfits!! The full-blown leprechaun suit won my vote for most creative.

One of the reasons Riverdance is such a beloved attraction is because Bill Whelan 's music (expertly orchestrated by Whelan and Nick Ingram) truly drives the show. From the opening number "Reel Around the Sun" onward the music helps to tell the story of the dances and just keeps the energy of the show at full throttle throughout.

As this show is called Riverdance the choreography is definitely front and center.

It took eleven choreographers to bring the show to life including Michael Flatley . If that name sounds familiar it might be because after Riverdance Flatley branched out on his own to create his own show called Lord of The Dance .

Of the group numbers "Reel Around the Sun", "Riverdance", and "American Wake" are three of the standout moments. This is truly an ensemble effort. If any of the dancers are slightly off, you'll definitely notice. I was totally impressed by the precision and top shelf energy each member presented.

Riverdance is not just Irish dance. There is a wonderful flamenco section entitled "Firedance" featuring soloist Rocio Dusmet and a section called "Trading Taps" featuring master tappers Tyler Knowlin and Dharmesh Patel . These two features make the show even more universal to any audience member attending.

I mentioned Bill Whelan 's music upfront as one of the things that drives Riverdance . That would not happen without the four-member band made up of Hayley Richardson (Fiddle), Emma Frampton (Saxophone), Tara Howley (Uilleann Pipes / Low Whistle / Tin Whistle / Concertina), and the man who is a show all by himself Mark Alfred (Drums / Percussion / Bodhrán/ Musical Director). These four artists create a solid musical foundation for the dancers and are featured with their own solos as well. "Slow Air and Tunes", and "Slip into Spring - The Harvest" are just two examples of the fine musicianship found within.

As this is the 25th Anniversary edition of Riverdance , the production elements have been spruced up with a new projection presentation designed by Cosmo AV. Here is a case where the projection doesn't overpower the production. It's a fine line to be able to do that. The images consist of lots of landscapes, some very powerful fire images in the flamenco section, and other striking images.

The vocal performances are also really strong. The big choral performance of "Lift the Wings" is simply heavenly.

Lighting designer Andrew Voller uses lots of color and also creates some really wonderful moods for the darker sections using his well-designed touring light plot.

If you have seen Riverdance before, this version will definitely not disappoint you. If you've never seen Riverdance before, the 25th anniversary edition will be bar none the best introduction to this worldwide sensation. Here's to 25 more years!!

Running Time: Two hours and five minutes with one intermission.

When is the Riverdance 2022 tour?

The Riverdance tour began on April 5, 2022, at the Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theatre in New York .

The tour will extend through July 2022 and will make stops across the US in celebration of 25 years of bringing their music and dance to the world.

Fans der härteren Klänge dürfen sich freuen. Denn Iron Maiden geben sich 2025 die Ehre in Bremen. Alle Infos zum Heavy-Metal-Konzert des Jahres gibt es hier.

Bremen – Pünktlich zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum im kommenden Jahr gehen die Rocker von Iron Maiden auf ausgedehnte Tour. Die Band um Frontmann Bruce Dickinson kommt im Rahmen dessen auch für einige Konzerte nach Deutschland. Der Norden geht dabei nicht leer aus – und kann sich auf ein Open-Air-Spektakel in Bremen freuen.

„Run For Your Lives World Tour“: Iron Maiden spielen 2025 Open-Air-Konzert in Bremen

Unter dem Motto „Run For Your Lives World Tour“ treten Iron Maiden 2025 ihre große Konzertreise an. Insgesamt 28 Shows inklusive Festivalauftritten haben die Briten für das kommende Jahr angekündigt. In Deutschland gastiert die kultige Band dabei in Gelsenkirchen, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Berlin – und eben Bremen.

Das Datum kann sich hiermit dick und fett im Kalender angestrichen werden: Am Dienstag, 15. Juli 2025, spielen Iron Maiden ihr Konzert auf der Bremer Bürgerweide, zwischen Bahnhofsrückseite und der ÖVB-Arena gelegen. Die genaue Konzert-Location wurde bereits durch Ticketanbieter Eventim bekanntgegeben, wo der Vorverkauf am Mittwoch, 25. September, um 10:00 Uhr startet.

„Werden unseren Fans ein einmaliges Live-Erlebnis bieten“: Was Iron Maiden fürs Bremen Konzert versprechen

Um den Iron-Maiden-Fans vorab einzuheizen, gibt die schwedische Metal-Band Avatar den Einheizer. Wer sich den Heavy-Metal-Doppelpack nicht entgehen lassen will, sollte direkt zuschlagen – denn die Show auf der Bremer Bürgerweide stellt 2025 das einzige Iron-Maiden-Konzert in Norddeutschland dar.

Wer noch zögert, dem seien die Worte von Leadsänger Bruce Dickinson ans Herzen gelegt. „Das nächste Jahr ist ein ganz besonderes Jahr für Iron Maiden und wir werden unseren Fans ein einmaliges Live-Erlebnis bieten. Das ist eine Tour, die ein Lächeln auf dein Gesicht und ein Jubeln in deine Kehle zaubern wird“, heißt es vom auch auf Solopfaden wandelnden Frontmann von Iron Maiden gegenüber Eventim.

Comeback nach drei Jahren: Iron Maiden spielten erst 2022 auf der Bremer Bürgerweide

Erst in diesem Jahr gastierte Bruce Dickinson im Media Markt in Groß Mackenstedt, um sein neues Soloalbum zu bewerben – Autogramm inklusive . Ein ähnlicher Andrang sollte auch auf die Konzertkarten für die Iron-Maiden-Show auf der Bremer Bürgerweide herrschen. Wer den Briten bereits seit längerem die Treue hält und die Heavy-Metal-Pioniere somit schon öfters live gesehen hat, dürfte dennoch auf seine Kosten kommen. Das verspricht zumindest Dickinson selbst.

Iron Maiden gehen 2025 auf „Run For Your Lives World Tour“ – das ist schon bekannt

Auch wenn bislang erst Daten für 2025 kommuniziert wurden, gehen Iron Maiden im kommenden Jahr und 2026 auf große Welttournee. Im Fokus steht dabei das große Jubiläum der Band, die Ende 1975 vom Bassisten Steve Harris gegründet wurde.

Damit dies gebührend zelebriert wird, verspricht die Band ihren Fans eine ganz besondere Setlist – sowie die „spektakulärste und aufwändigste Show aller Zeiten“, wie es bei Ticketanbieter Eventim heißt.

Insgesamt 28 Konzerte samt Festivalauftritte wurden in einem Rutsch für 2025 bekanntgegeben. Fans aus Deutschland können sich neben dem Konzert in Bremen am 15. Juli auf die Shows in Gelsenkirchen (11. Juli), Frankfurt (25. Juli), Stuttgart (26. Juli) und Berlin (29. Juli) freuen.

„Wenn du uns schon einmal gesehen hast, kannst du dich bereit machen, dieses Erlebnis auf eine ganz neue Ebene zu heben. Wenn du uns noch nie gesehen hast: Worauf zur Hölle wartest du? Dies ist deine Chance, herauszufinden, was du verpasst hast“, verspricht der Leadsänger von Iron Maiden.

Zuletzt war die kultige Heavy-Metal-Formation übrigens im Sommer 2022. Damals spielten Iron Maiden ebenso auf der Bürgerweide und sorgten für ein erstklassiges Konzerterlebnis . Wer mehr dem Sprechgesang zugetan ist, hat nächstes Jahr ebenso auf der Bürgerweide die Chance, Deutschrapper Sido live zu sehen . (han)
