Pasteis de Belem (Portuguese Egg Tarts)

Pasteis de belem - portugal itinerary

Pastel de nata (or what we know as Portuguese egg tarts) is a pastry that can be found in almost every corner of Portugal. We asked 5 different locals and they all directed us to  Pasteis de Belem . Possibly the most famous and loved shop here, the pastel de nata are made with a secret ancient recipe from the Monastery of Jeronimos . There is almost always a queue at the shop, so head there early in the day or late in the evening.

Price: €1.10 per tart Opening Hours:  8AM – 11PM (Oct 1st – June 30), 8AM – 12AM (July 1st – Sept 30) Address:   Rua Belém 84-92, 1300 085 Lisboa, Portugal

Praça do Comércio

Rua Augusta Arch - portugal itinerary_

The Praça do Comércio is the largest and grandest of Lisbon’s squares with 2 major attractions — Rua Augusta Arch and the equestrian statue of King Jose I. Considered the gateway to Lisbon, this is where people and commercial goods disembark.

The area is filled with restaurants, cafes and shops you can explore. We recommend heading up the Rua Augusta Arch for a great view of the riverfront and beyond.

Price (Rua Augusta Arch): €2.50 Opening Hours:  9AM – 9PM (16 May – 31 Aug), 9AM – 8PM (1 Sept – 31 Oct), 9AM – 7PM (1 Nov – 14 Apr), 9AM – 8PM (15 Apr – 15 May). Last admission 15 minutes before closing time. Address: Praça do Comércio, 1100-148 Lisboa, Portugal

Santa Justa

santa justa - portugal itinerary_

Also known as the Carmo Lift, Elevador de Santa Justa stands at 45m. This lift used to be a form of transport, connecting the lower streets of Baixa with higher Largo do Carmo (Carmo Square) but is now a major tourist attraction. Sitting atop the lift is a viewing platform that provides panoramic views of Lisbon.

*Pro-tip: Arrive early   if you want to catch the sunset on the viewing platform as you might have to queue up to an hour.

Day 2: Portimāo

Highlights:  Traditional Portuegese meal – Praia da Rocha – Sleep in Portimāo

Grab traditional Portuguese food for lunch

cataplana in portimao - portugal itinerary

Reward yourselves with a good meal after the long train journey at Restaurante Piedade . Do try the Cataplana  (€29.50, ~S$46.81), a traditional Portuguese seafood dish, originated from the Algarve region.

Opening hours: 10AM – 10PM Address:  Largo do Dique 8, 8500-001 Portimão, Portugal

Praia da Rocha

praia da rocha - portugal itinerary

Not far from Portimāo, Praia da Rocha is a lively resort town in the Algarve coastline. This is a great place to chill out with many restaurants and bars around the area.

Remember to stop by the beach! Surrounded by beautiful rock formations, this turned out to be my favourite beach on the trip.

Fun fact:  “Praia da Rocha” directly translates to “rocky beach”.

Getting there: Take bus 33, 3N (July and August only) and bus 11 (weekdays only). Check out the Portimāo bus timetable for more details.

Day 3: Ferragudo + Lagos

Highlights: Boat and kayak tour – Lagos Old Town – Batata Beach or Pinhāo Beach – Sleep in Portimāo

Boat and kayak tour

Beach along algarve coast - portugal itinerary

One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the Benagil Cave , an impressive sea cave listed as the “Top 10 coolest cave” in the world. However, some of the caves in the area are relatively small and can only be accessed on a kayak.

The first 30 minutes of the tour starts on a boat, visiting various caves and cliff formations in the vicinity. Once we reached the area of Bengali, we got onto our kayaks and made pitstops at beaches within the cave before heading back to Ferragudo on the boat.

Price: €65/pax (~S$103.14) How to get there:  The tour starts in Ferragudo and can be reached by buses from Portimāo

Scrumptious meal at Portarade Restaurante

Portarade Restaurante prawn pasta - portugal itinerary_

Head over to the square of Ferragudo for lunch. There are many restaurants here but we settled at Portarade Restaurante for its affordable sets and generous portions.

Cost: €14.50 (~S$23) for a starter, main, drink and dessert Address:  Ferragudo, Praça Rainha Dona Leonor 17, 8400-234 Lagoa, Portugal

Lagos Old Town

lagos old town - portugal itinerary

A short train ride from Ferragudo  (€2.05, ~S$3) , visit the old town of Lagos that lies within the 16 th century walls. You’ll find shops and restaurants lined along the cobbled lanes of this beautiful old town. The Lagos Cultural Centre is also located in the old town so pop by for a quick history lesson!

How to get there:  From Ferragudo, Lagos is a short train ride away

Praia da Batata Beach

batata beach - portugal itinerary

A short walk from the main tourist area of Lagos, Batata Beach is pretty small, and can get crowded, especially in summer. If you prefer a quieter beach, you can head over to Pinhāo Beach instead.

Address:  Cais da Solaria, Portugal

Praia do Pinhão

pinhao beach - portugal itinerary

Also known as Pinhao Beach , this is only accessible by a stairway down the steep ochre cliffs and much quieter than Batata Beach but with very few facilities in the vicinity.

Address: R. José Formosinho, 8600-315 Lagos, Portugal

Day 4: Cascais

Highlights: Cabo da Roca – Boca do Inferno – Guincho Beach – Sleep in Cascais

Cabo da Roca

cabo da rocha - portugal itinerary_

Cabo da Roca is the most westerly point of Europe, and is home to the Cabo da Roca lighthouse. Here you’ll find a monument declaring the area as the westernmost point of continental Europe. The inscription is a quote from Luis Camoes, a famous Portuguese poet, Luis Camoes, who described the area as “where the land ends, and the sea begins”. Winds here can be pretty strong so bring along a windbreaker if you’re prone to getting the chills.

How to get there: Take bus 403 (€4.05 for one way). It will take about 25 minutes from Cascais.

Boca do Inferno

Boca do Inferno - portugal itinerary

The Boca do Inferno is an interesting cliff formation close to Cascais, also dramatically termed “Hell’s Mouth”. A small cave has been chiselled out due to erosion from the waves, which eventually collapsed, forming the chasm you see today.

Boca do Inferno is a  short walk or bike ride from Cascais town centre but I highly recommend cycling there. The coastal cycling route is one of the only cycling paths and the views are well worth the exercise.

Address:   Av. Rei Humberto II de Itália 642, 2750-642 Cascais, Portugal

Praia de Guincho

guincho beach - portugal itinerary

If time permits, you can continue on the cycling path to Guincho Beach , a ideal location for various water sports. The bike ride from the town to the beach is a 10km round trip, and the entire route is extremely scenic. The route is pretty straightforward, with minimal turns though it can get slightly hilly, but not steep.

cycling path - portugal itinerary

Bicycles are provided by the Cascais council, and can be rented for free. The most convenient location to get them is outside the train station, near McDonalds. These bikes are basic, without gears and chains are not provided so you cannot leave them unsupervised. If you prefer better bikes, there are bike rental shops in the town.

Day 5: Sintra

Highlights:  Pena Palace – Moorish Castle – Quinta da Regalaria – Sleep in Cascais

Take a day trip out of Cascais to explore Sintra, a nearby town that used to be a royal sanctuary. From Cascais, take bus 403 (€4.15, ~S$6.59). The bus journey to Sintra will take approximately one hour.

Pena Palace

pena palace - portugal itinerary_

Palacio Nacional da Pena , aka Pena Palace, is a combination of vividly painted terraces. The palace was built by King Ferdinand II as a summer home for the Portuguese royals in the 19 th century but was abandoned in the revolution in 1910, and later restored in 20 th century. Pena Palace and the cultural landscape of Sintra has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1995, so this is definitely worth a visit.

Price: €14.00 (~S$22.22) (for park, palace terraces and state rooms) €7.50 (~S$11.90) (for park and palace terraces) Opening Hours: (Summer)  Park: 9.30AM – 8PM, Palace: 9.45AM – 7PM (Winter) 10AM – 6PM Last admission 1 hour before closing time. Getting there: Bus 434 from the town of Sintra (€3.90 for one way bus ticket, €6.90 for round trip) Alternatively, it’s a 2km walk (steep uphill) from Sintra.

*Pro-tip:  For convenience, get a full day bus pass for a flat rate of €15

Moorish Castle

moorish castle - portugal itinerary

The Castelo dos Mouros was built in the 9 th century by the North African Moors as a form of defense for the town of Sintra but abandoned after the Christian conquest of Portugal. It was later restored by King Ferdinand II as a feature of the Pena Palace.

The Moorish Castle provides a magnificent panoramic view of Serra De Sintra and the castle retains the charm of an ancient ruin, with dense forest surrounding the crumbling battlements that offer spectacular views over the Sintra region.

Price: €8 (~S$12.69) Opening hours: (Summer) 9.30AM – 8PM, (Winter) 10AM – 6PM Last admission 1 hour before closing time. Getting there:  5 minute walk (downhill) from Pena Palace

Quinta da Regalaria

initiation well - Quinta da Regalaria - portugal itinerary_

Quinta da Regalaria consists of a palace, chapel, a park with lakes, grottoes, wells, fountains and a touch of exquisite sculptures.

One of the most iconic must-sees here is the initiation well. This 27 meters deep well was not intended for water collection but instead used for initiation rites. Though not much is known about the what went on in the well, it is evident that the building process has been carefully planned out.

Price: €6 (~S$9.52) Opening Hours: (Summer) 9.30AM – 8PM, (Winter) 9.30AM – 6PM Getting there: Take bus 435 from the town of Sintra

Day 6: Porto

Highlights: Sao Bento Train Station – Café Santiago – Miradouro da Vitória – Dom Luís I Bridge – Sleep in Porto

Getting to Porto: From Cascais station, get single ride tickets from the station and take the train to Lisboa Cais du Sodre station. From Lisboa, take a bus (or walk) to Lisboa Santa Apolnia station to catch a train to Porto Sao Bento station. To book tickets and check for train timings, you can do this on  CP Comboios de Portugal .

Sao Bento Train Station

sao bento station - portugal itinerary

If you travelled to Porto via rail, you’ll most likely arrive via São Bento Station, one of the most beautiful train stations in Portugal. This is one of the major transportation hubs of Porto lined with 20,000 azulejo tin-glazed ceramic tiles, which took a total of 11 years to be placed, depicting the story of Portugal’s past.

Café Santiago

Francesinha - cafe santiago - portugal itinerary

Founded in 1959, Café Santiago serves, possibly the best Francesinha in Porto. A Francesinha is a sandwich made with meat, sausage, ham, cheese, egg and it comes with a side of fries. The portion can be quite big so it would be ideal to share. For the four of us, we shared a Francesinha Top (€12, ~S$19.04), Bacalhau (€9.75, ~S$15.47) and 2 salads (€2.30 each, ~S$3.65).

This place gets crowded so get there early (right when they open) or go during off-peak hours like 4PM.

Opening Hours: 12PM – 11PM Address:  Rua Passos Manuel 226, 4000-382 Porto PORTO, Portugal

Miradouro da Vitória

view from Miradouro da Vitória - portugal itinerary

A rather quiet lookout that offers a spectacular view of Porto — including the famous Dom Luis Bridge and Porto Cathedral. Although access to tourists is allowed on this private property, we were asked to leave at around 8.30PM by an old man who seemed to be a caretaker of the area as the area get locked up. Look out for the stray cats!

Opening Hours: 9AM – 9PM Address: Rua São Bento da Vitória 11, 4050-543 Porto, Portugal

Dom Luís I Bridge

Dom Luís I Bridge - portugal itinerary

Dom Luís I Bridge is a 45m high, double-decked metal arch bridge that spans the  River Douro  between the cities of  Porto  and  Vila Nova de Gaia .

On the Porto side, the lower deck connects the Cais da Ribeira and the upper  Avenida Vímara Peres . On the other end, the bridge’s lower deck connects to Avenida Diogo Leite  and the upper deck connects to Avenida da República .

Walk along the banks or find a spot to sit with a snack while enjoying the view. There are also many restaurants along the river banks so you can also find one to chill in, a perfect spot to end the day.

Address:  PTE Luiz I, Porto, Portugal

Day 7: Douro Valley

Highlights: Douro Valley day tour

duoro valley - portugal itinerary

Take a day trip out of the city to Douro Valley , one of the oldest wine regions of the world.

Douro Valley is home to Douro River, and primarily known for Port wine, which has been produced here for the past two thousand years. The Douro Valley was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001 in recognition of the beautiful vast landscape of the area.

Start off your trip with a visit to a wine estate and learn about Port wine, which is richer and sweeter than normal wines.

duoro valley boat tour - portugal itinerary

After the “lesson” and tasting at the winery, go on a boat tour on a traditional Portuguese Rabelo around the valley and taste even more wine!

A typical Douro meal will be served for lunch followed by wine tasting in the restaurant’s winery.

duoro valley wine tasting - portugal itinerary

We took a tour with getyourguide , which we loved because our guide and tour mates were really friendly. We had 2 Americans, as well as 2 others from London in our tour group and we enjoyed chatting with them. This tour was a breather for us as we were being ferried around, with everything nicely planned out for us, even picking us up and dropping us off at accommodation instead of having to find our own way to the places.

Price: S$145.44/pax

Day 8: Porto

Highlights:  Livraria Lello Bookstore – Porto Cathedral – Tile painting class – Crystal Palace Garden – Sleep in Porto

Livraria Lello Bookstore

Livraria Lello Bookstore - portugal itinerary

Rumoured to have inspired J.K. Rowling to write the Harry Potter series, see if you can spot the similarities between the bookstore’s staircase and the one described in the book. J.K. Rowling spent much of her time in Livraria Lello when she was teaching English in Porto.

When the Harry Potter series first launched, many people flocked over to see the bookstore that inspired the author. Although the bookstore got crowded, no one was purchasing books. To cope with this, there’s €5 entrance fee that’s refundable if you buy a book.

The bookstore is still a popular spot up till today, and you can expect a queue to form outside even before opening hours.

Note: You will have to get the tickets for admission 1 block down from the bookstore (the building with the ATM in front of it). Bags are not allowed in the shop and you have to deposit them in the lockers available.

Price: €5 (~S$7.93) Opening Hours: 10AM – 7PM (Mon – Fri), 10AM – 7.30PM (Sat & Sun) Address: Rua das Carmelitas, 144, 4050-161 Porto, Portugal

The cathedral features a mixture Romanesque, Gothic, and baroque architecture, which reflects the diverse Porto history. The entrance to the cloister is located in the cathedral, through a door located next to the shop at the main entrance of the cathedral.

Rua Santo Isidro, Tile Painting Class

tile making class with local - portugal itinerary

What better way to understand the history of azulejo tiles in Porto than to go for a tile making workshop and experience it yourself?

We decided to sign up for a tile making class with a local to learn more about the significance of azulejo tiles in Porto. This was the first time any of us are working with ceramic tiles and we were pretty much clueless. Teresa, the teacher, had plenty of experience in tile making, and was very patient with us. With her guidance, we all managed to carve out a design on our tiles.

our completed tiles - portugal itinerary

Price: €25/pax (~S$39.57) Address: Rua Santo Isidro, Porto (Workshop will be held in Teresa’s studio)

Jardins do Palácio de Cristal

Jardins do Palácio de Cristal - portugal itinerary

The ICE entertainment system also made it easier to pass time onboard. I even managed to learn a few basic Portuguese words through uTalk before landing in Lisbon. Check out our full Emirates review .

Mainly public transport!

I see! Is there a detailed breakdown of the public transport that we can use for Portugal? 🙂 Even between the beaches/cities?

Where did you guys put up? There’s no recommendations of accommodation. It would be nice if you could share these details

The overall 10-days expense was for one person?

Delight in Faro on your Portugal trip package Perhaps the most famous attractions in Faro are the Benagil sea caves, with naturally formed arches. The sight is beautiful in both pictures and real-life, and you can get there by a public or private boat, or even by swimming if that’s the kind of adventure mixed with exercise that you crave. For the foodies, the pizzerias and outdoor cafes here will leave you singing their praises. The Rio Formosa National Park, Amoreira Beach Circuit, and the Algarve Wine Tour are just some of the major attractions you can experience in Faro on your package trips to Portugal . High Adventure

"I've travelled with Intrepid in Vietnam, Morocco, Nepal and Egypt and had a brilliant time every time. The experience is better than most tours as you are in a small group that goes a bit more 'off the beaten track', and you don't get taken to endless shopping opportunites (i.e. a cousin's carpet shop). They also have higher ethics than most travel companies, they contribute to local charities and they avoid animal use (donkeys etc) where possible. The tour leaders we have had have all been wonderful, knowledgable and relaxed, with good english."

Testimonials.

@Ms. Margaret Tok

We would like to compliment one of the tour leader from SA tour - Rachel - the tour leader for the Europe Trip. Rachel has been very professional and helpful and knowledgeable and her flexibility to adjust the itinerary has reduce a lot of waiting and travelling time for us. The itinerary was well paced with nature and city scene. There is never a perfect itinerary that suits all of us but I personally feel that a tour leader plays a important part in ensuring we had a enjoyable trip and we are indeed blessed to have Rachel and the group we travelling with to make our trip a very enjoyable one. Personally it was since 10 years plus that I join a group tour. There was some unpleasant experience I had with one of the SA colleague which commented that I was being unfair to him in a email that was sent to my friend. It does started me with a bad note and I start to wonder whether did I make the right choice? However it turns out to be a pleasant trip and the credit goes to Rachel. Nowadays it is difficult to find loyal and staff who work with passion and SA is blessed to have Rachel as their staff. I am in service line and I know it is not easy as there is ups and downs. I am sure SA tours will continue to be popular with good word of mouth from customers through the service from the good tour leaders( including Rachel) Last but not least ,Thank you to SA Tours. Thanks again to Mickey and Carol too for replying to my emails too.

@Mr. Felicia Pei Ting

I would like to thank Miss Winnie Woo for her help in planning a wedding proposal on our Dream Cruise holiday from 11-16 Feb 2018. We were planning to go on Royal Caribbean initially, however decided on Dream Cruise after Winnie’s strong recommendation. She explained to us how Dream Cruise will be more suitable for our lifestyle - such a Penfolds bar, Johnnie Walker bar and also the high restaurant standards. This shows that she is very observant and patient to understand our needs. As she knows that my friend was going to proposed on Valentine's Day, she suggested we book the dinner with Mark Best. And on 11 Feb, she even called to reconfirm the arrangement for us again. Luckily, she did that as the restaurant did not remember when I went to check earlier in the day. I’m very impressed with her! On 14 Feb, the four of us were even more surprised when we walked into our friend’s room with decoration! She went the extra mile to her Dream Cruise to do it for my friend. And the proposal was very impressive and successful! I must say that this makes me want to book more holidays with SA tour as I know the consultant is so considerate and dedicated to take care of us. Once again, a big thank you to Ms Winnie Woo!

Following our recent tour Guangzhou Family Fantasia 24 Dec-1 Jan, I would like to compliment your staff for their excellent professional services. Mr. Louis Lee is a very dedicated and organized tour leader. He did everything to ensure our safety, fast free check-in, luggage and meals that leave us to enjoy with a peace of mind. His cheerful, enthusiastic and thoughtful nature kept us in a happy mood so much that we bonded a strong friendship. Together with Mr. Jin our China tour guide, they shared general knowledge of places, tips on where, what to do and eat. From their sharing, I myself as an avid photographer, discovered a lot of nice interesting sceneries. Mr. Lee is definitely the best tour guide I have met so far and I am looking forward to explore China by joining his tour group again. Also, not forgetting the courteous friendly Mr. Kenneth Tan, who did our booking. Despite near closing time, he took the time to explain and answer our queries well. The trip to China was splendid. Many thanks for creating good memories. Kudos to you guys!

Hi, My parents and I have joined SA Tour's 14D European Treasure Trove (EETT14) from 3-16 Dec 2022. We are very grateful to Cyril for all the assistance that he rendered to my family and me throughout the trip. My parents are elderly (age 67 and 72) and compared to other tour members, needed more time to walk and help with luggage. At Jungfraujoch, I was impressed that Cyril prepared sweets and ginger to help all tour members gain the energy to adjust to the high-altitude effect as well as reminded us regularly to walk slowly and be careful of the slippery surfaces. Cyril's care and concern for the safety and comfort each member has been prevalent throughout the tour. At each hotel, Cyril has done his best to accommodate needs of the families travelling together (swapping rooms where necessary) and helped everyone with our heavy luggage such that any inconveniences were kept to the minimum. My family has been travelling to Europe for several years before Covid so we are familiar with the long distances expected in the itinerary and are cognisant that we will only be staying for a short time in each city. This is my third visit to Italy and my mother's second visit; visiting Sistine Chapel at Vatican City during each trip. Through our description of Sistine Chapel, my father (a devout Christian) was looking forward to visiting it at the Vatican City during this trip to Italy (his first visit). We realised that the visit to Vatican City did not include Sistine Chapel while we were waiting to enter the St Peter's Basilica. My father was distraught and kept saying that he really wanted to visit the Sistine Chapel once in his lifetime and at his age, he may have a chance to return to Italy again. Cyril heard my father saying this and explored with the local tour guide on how we can fulfil my father's wish to visit Sistine Chapel though my mother and I were explaining to my father that we should just continue with the tour itinerary in order not to inconvenience the other tour members. As we are in Rome on 14 and 15 Dec (15 Dec was a free day), it may be possible for my family to return to Vatican City to visit Sistine Chapel on our own on 15 Dec before meeting the tour group at the airport. After discussion with Cyril and the local tour guide, we decided that the best approach would be to skip the next leg of the walking tour in Rome (14 Dec) to Colosseum and go to Sistine Chapel (next to St Peter's Basilica) while we are still in Vatican City. We will catch up with the tour group at Trevi Fountain. As the local guide is with our tour group throughout the walking tour and will take care of the safety of 17 members, Cyril quickly brought the 3 of us to the entrance of Musei Vaticani to get tickets before he ran back in the rain to catch up with the tour group at the Colosseum. We went for a short route to Sistine Chapel and took a taxi to Trevi Fountain to meet the group within 2 hours to continue our walking tour to Spanish Steps. Cyril could have left the 3 of us to locate the entrance of Musei Vaticani on our own (which I offered) and stayed with the 17 members of the tour group and the local guide on the walking tour. Cyril went with us because it was raining the entire day and he was concerned about whether we can locate the entrance in time, particularly with my elderly parents. At the same time, the local guide was with 17 members of the tour group ensuring their safety while Cyril quickly caught up with them; drenched in the process. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to Cyril and the other members of the tour group to fulfil my father's wish. Weighing the options, this approach caused the least inconvenience to the rest of the tour members. It meant a lot to my family that Cyril made the extra effort to fulfil my father's wish to visit Sistine Chapel in his lifetime. My family and I have joined many packaged tours over the past 14 years. We know what a tour leader would typically do in a packaged tour. From this trip after Covid, we also saw that many things changed in Europe. Cyril has struck us as a tour leader who went above and beyond the typical role of the tour leader and went through hardship (carrying heavy luggage up flights of stairs at hotels) to ensure the safety and comfort of tour members. My parents and I would like to express our deepest appreciation for Cyril's assistance during our tour to Europe from 3 to 16 Dec 2022. We seek SA Tours' assistance to convey our appreciation to Cyril and recognise his good performance during the tour. Thank you.

Dear Sir/ Mdm, Hope this email serves you fine and well. I am a customer of yours for the European 14D European Treasure Trove from 3 Dec 2022 to 16 Dec 2022. I will like to take this opportunity to thank my tour manager Mr Cyril Sheng for the great experience that he has given me and my wife for the honeymoon holiday. Firstly, Mr Cyril Sheng has been very accommodating and very detailed in his daily itinerary planning for the whole trip. There were many requests put up during the trip by many passengers on an adhoc basis. Without any hesitation, he has been in the forefront to take care of all our needs and wants within the time limit. He has paid detailed attention to an elderly couple who wanted to pay their respects in the 16th Chapel whilst he ensured that we are safe in the hands of the local guide. He went the extra mile to reach our next destination on foot after bringing the couple which is admirable. Mr Cyril has also showed the care and concern for all his passengers. Since my wife and I are on a special diet of vegetarian and having fish and eggs, he ensured that we are served the right food at all times. This is an admirable character of his. What touched me was he came over to all his passengers including us to ensure the right food is served. When some of the fellow passengers changed their dietary requirements, he went the extra mile to change without any complaints. This is the star quality that we see in him. In addition, when my wife needed to go to the toilet as she was not feeling well, without much hesitation or complaints, he directed the bus captain to detour to show care and concern. He also checked in twice on the same day to see if she was fine and checked in again the next day. This is something that I have not seen in other tour manager in other agencies. In Switzerland, whilst other tour managers in other groups only brought their passengers up, Mr Cyril has gone the extra mile to buy sweets for passengers to have sugar and go up the mountain. This was on his own accord. He ensured all passenger young and old were fine throughout the journey. When an elderly passenger was not well,he rushed to help her and assisted the family. He also spent his own money to get doughnuts for his passengers. I am also amazed that Mr Cyril Sheng went the additional mile to carry all the luggage for his passengers. He smiled and helped all of us. This is really admirable in him. I hope you would take this opportunity to praise him for his hard work and effort. Any complaints against him is something that you can dismiss against. Please do call me if you need any clarification. Thank you. Regards, Mr Prem Ms Kalphna

@Mr. Jason Tan

Hi SA tour team, I am currently on 14D11N EUROPEAN TREASURE TROVE trip with Cyril Sheng from 03 Dec to 16 Dec. The thing about going on a trip and especially on a tour is to be accommodating with each other and not put in tough and unreasonable requests to tour guide. Cyril was the complete opposite of the worst. He puts in his best effort and goes all out to assist each and every member in the tour. He’s nothing short of being an excellent tour guide. I hereby put in my testimonial to him and I will continue to support SA Tours. Warmest Regards, Jason Tan

Dear SA, Happy New Year 2023! Hope this finds you well. I meant to write earlier but was busy traveliing and celebrating the festive season. This a belated thank you to Keith Ng who was Tour Leader on my trip to Hokkaido 1st to 8th December. He looked after us very well. I was particularly impressed with his caring attitude and he conscientiously helped me throughout the tour. Please pass my compliments to Keith for a job well done during our tour. The group was also appreciative of his attention and commitment. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday and I will certainly consider SA Tours in the future.

@Mr. Samuel Lee & Emely

To the Management of SA Tours, I have just returned from the Hokkaido Package 8 days tour from 11 to 19th of May on the Scoot Flight Package.I would like to mention something today that is on every leisure traveller’s dream to have a pleasant and memorable trip just outside my usual business travels. When we landed in Sapporo , we were greeted with a 60 ?year old tour guide ( Tao yu , BEI ZI ) and my first impression was what can this lady do for the 8 days continuous journey that we are going to embark on while most of the time, I would expect a 30 to 40 years plus tour guide are the usual ones with the appropriate energy to carry us all the way throughout the comprehensive journeys . I saw even at the first meeting she was pretty tired , stunned and wear out. I was literally not expecting any potential exciting tours ahead. After the 8 days , I was totally wronged and what I witnessed was that Bei Zi has brought us the tour group to an exhilarating , entertaining , knowledge riched journey and most importantly with great sense of humour that bombarded us till we are totally impressed with her experience and skills of a well rounded tour guide. Her style of organising the tour schedule was kept detailed and meticulously carried out the proposed events with utmost responsibility to ensure everyone is safe and understood the message she tried to deliver. Never had I and my wife came across such dedicated and professional attitude that she carried with her to ensure that the tour group members broke ice on friendship quickly and allow us to find common ground together through her lively humour and simplistic philological understanding about how we should appreciate our life both by leading simple, happy and a meaningful life. It’s really a 5 stars quality. I would like to also comment on the professionalism displayed by Rachel ( SA ) who has to juggle between 2 travel groups while keeping pace with the tight schedule moving from one hotel to another and it is no joke considering we are changing hotels every day. She brought snacks to ensure that we are in good mood and continue to keep us well informed on the day’s schedule. Her bilingualist ability was able to put into good use. She is very kind, gentle and understanding. Last but not least, another commendable person we would like to thank is Hirasawa San, the perfect and meticulously dressed driver who makes our journey seamlessly safe and given strategically challenging driven coach routes that only experience and passionate driver can execute. The coach is too clean that we felt guilty eating some snacks inside the coach. Many thanks to SA tours, and very lucky to have such great people like BEI ZI , Rachel and Hirasawa San, who I hope will continue to upkeep great standards of tour guided packages offered. Once again, thanks to wonderful people like BEI ZI that makes my holiday so worthwhile not just on beautiful sceneries alone but we certainly make great pleasant friends along this nice and memorable journey. I wish everyone best days ahead , till we meet again.

Hi, I was one of the group members for the 9D8N Zhangjiajie from 6 to 14 Apr 2024. Our tour guide was 小黑 (王坤). I would like to pay special compliments to him for his professionalism and dedication. He was able to understand the dynamics of the group and was capable to take good care of the different age groups. He was not over zealous and very protective of us. We felt safe travelling with him. It could be due to his sincerity that there was such good cooperation and understanding amongst the members. I would love to have someone like him as the tour guide if I were to visit China again. His heart is in the right place. I would appreciate it if you could assist to let him and his company know of our deep appreciation for him. Thank you. Best regards Sara Goh

@Mr. Daryl Sim

Dear Sir/Mdm I would like to give the following compliment our tour group leader and foreign tour guide for our SA Tour trip to Zhang Jia Jie. My tour leader Richard was very helpful and approachable throughout the trip. He is always staying behind the whole group to ensure that we do not lose our way, or head towards the wrong direction. He helps to look our for the elderlies in our group. He is always prompt to help us when we approach him for certain enquiries, like if there is any place to get food near our hotel etc. He is attentive to details, on the night when we took a train to Guangzhou, we were at the wrong gate. However, Richard was quick to notice the details and guided us to the correct gate, if not we would have missed our train to Guangzhou. I am very grateful and thankful to have him as my guide. Our foreign tour guide, Xiao Hei (Wang Kun) was very knowledgeable with the places we are visiting. He explains and shares interesting stories about the places we visit. He is always waiting at the bus door to help everyone get down the bus, like he held on to our hand as we alighted from the bus. When 2 members from our tour group had no appetite for food as they are not feeling well, Xiao Hei asked the restaurant to prepare green bean soup for the 2 members, and when the restaurant staff explains that the green bean soup was not inclusive in the set that was ordered, he forked out his own money for the green bean soup. Throughout the trip, he always buys oranges and stuffs using his own money to treat us even though he did not need to do so. When a few of my family members were not feeling well, I approached Xiao Hei to ask him to help me order some Yakult and Isotonic water for my family. When the items arrived, he refused to collect the money from me. It is hard to come by tour guides like him. Please acknowledge receipt of my email and convey my compliment to Xiao Hei and his company. Thank you.

@Mr. Sim Lee Hiang and Han Luan Fong

Dear Sir/madam, My tour guide Richard is a nice and approachable person. Despite of the initial issues caused by his colleague, Esther (who sold us the package), he managed to resolve the problems to the best of his ability. We are thankful to have Xiao Hei (Wang Kun) as our local guide in China. He is a very organised person. He has good knowledge of history and is engaging and entertaining. He speaks clearly and fluently. He also takes good care of us.
