Excellent guide, amazing walking tour

The walking tour around the old town was so interesting, most of it because of our amazing guide, Gawel, who explained everything in a very passionate way.

Excellent tour and guide.beata was a sweet girl who loved her job.! Interesting and not boring at all. I usually avoid guides but this girl made me feel like she was my friend who loved learning me things about her city!excellent job ! She even treated us a drink !highly recommended.

We had an excellent WW2 tour with Gawel who explained things in a very clear and passionate way. He often times went the extra mile to make us understand where certain things used to be even though it was freezing outside. I recommend you tip generously because you will be hard-pressed to find a better walking tour guide.

I took 2 tours with them - Old Town with Beata, and WWII with Gawel, both incredible. Such a difficult topic as the destruction and reconstruction of Warsaw, the War, etc and both guides were very informative, nice, super positive attitude. Can only say it's super worth it to follow that orange umbrella around :)

Our guide, Beata, really managed to brighten up a cold and windy day in Warsaw. Her knowledge, attitude and interest were all amazing. Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to all tourists staying in Warsaw. A real glimpse of a wonderful city - thank you!

Great och friendly guide with a tour with a whole large range of topics used to describe the "polishness" from a Warszawa perspective.

Best things to do and see in Warsaw

Warsaw is considered the most important city in Poland . It is the capital of the country since 1596 (previously it was Krakow) and has a cultural and historical background very difficult to match. In 1939, before the Nazi holocaust, there were 1,300,000 settled Jews in the city, almost 30% of the population of the capital ... After 6 years of indescribable horrors, that same population was reduced to one third and more than 90 % of the city was reduced to rubble. Since then, the reconstruction of the city has been rehabilitating the most emblematic and essential areas, combining the before and after to make history clear. In Warsaw there are a large number of guided tours through the different neighborhoods and areas of the town. In fact, there are tours that focus on making routes through the most emblematic places that allow you to travel the city in 2-3 hours. You can also find more specific routes to visit the Palace of Culture and Science, Plac Zamkowy (in Stare Miasto), the Royal Castle, the little mermaid in Rynek Starego Miasta, the Barbakan, the Nowe Miasto, the Jewish ghetto, the Łazienki Park , the Wilanów Palace, the Saint John Cathedral or the Prague district. The advantage of the local guides is that they can tell you things not so well known in the city as well as recommend more exclusive places. It can help you to know better how are the free walking tours in Warsaw the opinions and ratings of travelers who have already done a tour in this city. In addition, other interesting cities to visit from Poland are Poznan and Wroclaw.

Warsaw Historic Centre

orange walking tour warsaw

A city that suffered tremendous losses over the last 100 years. Come and see how it rose like a phoenix from the ashes: experience the invincible spirit of Warsaw and learn about the heroism of its people.

Today’s Warsaw is a like a patchwork quilt. A few original, grand pre-war buildings; the fully reconstructed and colourful Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; hulking communist architecture and modern skyscrapers. It is different than any other place you’ve seen. The architectural fabric of the city reflects its unique, and often tumultuous, history. Over the centuries, Warsaw has been the setting for many extraordinary events and people: the adoption of the world’s second-oldest democratic constitution in 1791, one of the most decisive battles in history, the music and life of Chopin, and the birth of Marie Skłodowska-Curie, the only person to receive the Nobel Prize in two different scientific fields. The wartime deeds of Hitler and Stalin left an indelible mark on the city.

During our tour we’ll discover both the past and the present. We’ll start at Krakowskie Przedmieście at the monument of Nicolaus Copernicus to see one of the most beautiful and lively streets of the city with its astonishing buildings, wide pedestrian areas, restaurants, shops, and greenery, and we’ll finish in the Old Town – the historical heart of Warsaw.

But Warsaw is not only about the past. The thriving cultural scene, theater, music, fascinating museums, world-class restaurants and shops make visit to this city a stimulating experience.

Come and join our tour to understand Warsaw, Poles and Poland’s role in world history.

On this 2h 30 minutes’ FREE Walkative! TOUR you will see:

  • Copernicus Monument on Krakowskie Przedmieście Street
  • Royal Castle
  • University of Warsaw
  • The presidential palace
  • Sigmund Column
  • Old town Market Square
  • St. John Cathedral
  • …and much more!

After visiting the historic centre we recommend taking Jewish Warsaw , Warsaw at War and Communist Warsaw free tours to understand Warsaw’s complicated history better!

ESPECTACULAR

100% recomendable. Un placer.

The VERY best way to learn about beautiful Warsaw

This was the most interesting and engaging tour of any city I have visited. This was due to a very large extent to our excellent guide Ana. She has a huge amount of knowledge about the city, but she does not simply relate facts – she has the great skill of being a storyteller who can make the city and its history come alive. Add to this just the right amount of humour and a slice of her own personal experience and you have the best, most engaging 2.5 hours you will spend in Warsaw.

2.5 hours? was it really that long? the time just flew by and all too soon were were applauding Ana’s work and sadly saying our goodbyes.

For those concerned about coping with the walking , being 70 it crossed my mind – but don’t be – the pace is leisurely but purposeful and the route pretty much totally flat. We chose the 2.30pm tour only so that we could assess the weather and dress accordingly.

Dziękuję Ana, jesteś gwiazdą

Excellent tour of Warsaw today with Ana. Really informative, amusing and entertaining. Will definitely try to learn more about the history of this beautiful city. Inspiring.

Very interesting view on Warsaw's history

My group joined the Warsaw Historic Centre with Jacek and we enjoyed very much!

He’s clearly passionate about what he does and very knowledgeable. He’s got a unique sense of humour, which made the tour even more enjoyable. We had to slightly adapt the path due to a protest happening but we didn’t miss any of the stories. Super recommended!

"We stopped into this site on a whim as we were passing through the area. We're so glad we did. The signature tour is a perfect way to be acquainted with the Madisons and their home, not to mention their contributions to the founding of our nation. Lucas was a very well informed guide who apparently couldn't be stumped by any question asked. The grounds are lovely. This is a visit well worth making."

"We were very pleased to find out that we could visit the archeology exhibit and activities any given day. Our kids loved looking through the drawers that were full of china, glass, and other objects. Absolutely recommend Montpelier!"

Annie Nardone

"Nice tour and beautiful grounds. Visit the graves of the Madison's or watch the archeologists work. Worth the time."

Best of Warsaw Free Walking Tour

Best of Warsaw Free Walking Tour Poland — #1

Overview of the tour in Warsaw

The BEST OF WARSAW tour is an easy, 2-hour walk across 3 different historical areas - the royal Warsaw, classicist Warsaw and communist Warsaw. From the Old Town we will take you along the elegant Krakowskie Przedmiescie street, the main axis of Warsaw historical city center, lined with 18th century patrician houses and aristocratic residences. On our way we will stop in the grandiose Pilsudski Square where you will see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and if you are lucky also the change of the guards! Then we will head south to the area inhabited in the 19th century by Fryderyk Chopin - you will see his last apartment in Warsaw and the Church of the Holy Cross containing his heart! After that, we will head west, towards the 20th century city center, a scene of heavy fights during WW2. Here you will see the famous Prudential Tower, the first Warsaw skyscraper, which played a very important role in the Warsaw Uprising. The tour will end in front of the Palace of Culture and Science, the tallest and the most soviet Warsaw building, the famous gift from Stalin to the People's Republic of Poland.

This activity includes:

  • Holy Cross Church
  • University of Warsaw
  • Presidential Palace, Warsaw
  • Castle Square, Warsaw
  • Palace of Culture and Science
  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
