Groove Cruise Miami 2023 Lineup

Long-standing destination festival Groove Cruise Miami returns January 19-23, 2023, and features headliners Claptone, Jauz, Markus Schulz, and Nora En Pure. The EDM cruise will have plenty to keep attendees busy as it makes its way to Labadee’s Private Paradise in Haiti and back.

Also included on the 2023 lineup is Blastoyz, Matroda, Gioli & Assia, Habstrakt, Cloonee, Chapter & Verse, Casmalia, Truth X Lies, Nostalgix, and Ranger Trucco, Paraleven, Declan James, Speaker Honey, Genix, Grum, Ciaran McAuley, Chris Schweizer, Kristina Sky, Niko Zografos, and many more.

Cruisers will have multiple opportunities to meet and play with artists via artist activations. Past activations included artist dinners, meet and greets, playing basketball and other sports, making cocktails and food, and bar crawls with artists. 

When the ship docks at Labadee guests can also check out the many activities, including zip lining, a roller coaster, water slides, cafes, jet skis, private island tours, and more. 

The ship Celebrity Summit  has undergone significant renovations and upgrades and is ready to host dance music lovers across the Gulf of Mexico. It features multiple restaurants, bars, pools, hot tubs, a fitness center, spas, and shopping onboard. Food, drink, and music is included in Groove Cruise packages.

Groove Cruise Miami Announces 2023 Lineup

Known as the world’s largest floating dance music festival, Whet Travel ’s flagship event Groove Cruise will make a triumphant return for its 35th sailing from Miami, Florida to a private island in Labadee, Haiti aboard the state-of-the-art and award-winning Celebrity Summit with a undeniable 2023 lineup.

For nearly two decades, Whet Travel has been the leader in independent music cruise experiences with bespoke itineraries and unparalleled curated lineups. From Thursday, January 19 to Monday, January 23, 2023 , dance music lovers from around the world will revel in the immersive experience that Groove Cruise has become known for while enjoying breathtaking views, an extensive list of programming, and some of the top acts in electronic music.

Groove Cruise Miami will offer attendees, affectionately known as “ Captains ”, a chance to revel in 96 hours of nonstop music from more than 50 artists from around the world. Returning Groove Cruise headliners include Swiss-South African deep house connoisseur Nora En Pure and German trance music legend Markus Schulz . Groove Cruise also welcomes the mysterious Claptone to make his debut headlining performance as well as BITE THIS label head Jauz who will be performing a special ‘ Off The Deep End ’ set.

Groove Cruise ’s genre-abolishing lineup serves to offer a little something for everyone. Additional support will come from the likes of BIJOU , Blastoyz , Cloonee , Gioli & Assia , Habstrakt , Kaivon , Matroda , and William Black . All of these acts will be making their Groove Cruise debut and offer something new for dedicated fans. Ship Wrek will also return to Groove Cruise as direct support for the Miami sailing.

Groove Cruise prides itself on inclusive bookings that strive to feature more female acts. The upcoming Miami sailing will feature unrivaled performances from Nora En Pure , Gioli & Assia , Casmalia , Nostalgix , Speaker Honey , and more.

Aboard the newly-renovated Celebrity Summit cruise ship, fans can enjoy an abundance of amenities, luxury dining options, curated theme parties, artist-hosted activities, and more. The fleet underwent nearly $500 million in luxurious upgrades and earned Travel Weekly ’s Magellan Gold Awards for The Spa by Canyon Ranch and Penthouse Suite Design. The transformed Celebrity Summit boasts a state-of-the-art wellness spa, fitness center, onboard shopping, and more. The recent renovations also make the Celebrity Summit one of the first cruise ships powered by environmentally-friendly gas turbines.

Due to recent changes, vaccinated guests will no longer be required to take a COVID-19 test before boarding the cruise. All aboard, baby. Groove Cruise announced the lineup for its January 2024 voyage from Miami to The Bahamas on Wednesday (April 12).

Billboard can exclusively announce that Diplo , Tiësto and John Summit captain the lineup, with a strong crew of artists including Disco Lines, Gabriel & Dresden, Joel Corry, LP Giobbi, So Tuff So Cute, VNSSA rounding out the bill.

The festival at sea departs from Miami on January 24, sailing to The Bahamas for a beach part on Great Stirrup Cay and returning to U.S shores on January 28. The event, produced by Whet Travel, marks the Groove Cruise’s 20th anniversary.

“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years,” Groove Cruise founder Jason Beukema tells Billboard. “When I first had the idea of Groove Cruise as a 25-year-old kid from Michigan with no money, not a single DJ contact, and not knowing anyone in the cruise industry, I never thought that two decades later I would be booking international superstars like Tiësto on a near billion dollar cruise ship.”

“Our first sailing,” he continues, “was a 125 person cruise in 2004, and it’s been incredible to witness lifelong friendships flourish out of that initial cruise and to hear how it changed people’s lives. It’s been humbling to watch the community and experience it evolve into the world class event it is today.”

While Groove Cruise helped innovate the festival cruise model two decades ago, they’ve since become a hugely popular format for live music consumption. In the dance world, HARD has hosted Holy Ship since 2021, while earlier this year Insomniac Events announced the maiden voyage of their EDSea cruise happening in November.

Groove Cruise Miami Returns For 2023 To Labadee Paradise

Groove Cruise Miami returns next year, from January 19th-23rd . Celebrate the new year in style on the Celebrity Summit from Miami to the beautiful private paradise of Labadee . Festival Report Card: Groove Cruise Miami 2023

Groove Cruise has forever held the title of the only music festival cruise that sails from both sides of the coastal U.S.. Along with this title, it takes claim as the world’s premier floating EDM festival.

This year the cruise departed from Miami, taking GCFam veterans and new travelers to Labadee’s Private Paradise in Haiti for a darn good time. Check out EDM Maniac’s experience of the latest Groove Cruise sailing:

Groove Cruise brings a very diverse demographic, with people as young as 21 and as old as 70. It is a more mature and experienced crowd than other standard festivals.

People were very respectful of others and knew their limits. Nonetheless, no one knows how to party like the Groove Cruise family. There was always at least one person awake on the ship during every hour.

Groove Cruisers truly embody everything it means to be a part of the rave community. As soon as guests step onto the boat, their egos leave their bodies. Everyone greeted each other like family and welcomed newcomers with open arms.

There wasn’t one moment where we felt unsafe or uncomfortable, and we even slept in the Whet Oasis without anyone bothering us. Artists hung out alongside festival goers, and one artist also mentioned that it was like a big summer camp to let loose and have fun.

There were also more than five marriage proposals on Groove Cruise, which proves how magical Groove Cruise is to people. The festival also offered 60+ activities, such as Yoga with HANA, granting the opportunity for fans to connect with different artists.

The workers onboard the ship were also very welcoming and kind. We spoke to an employee who explained that she had not seen anything like Groove Cruise and she was going to miss everyone on the ship after we were gone.

Cruise ship festivals already start out by overcoming obstacles because of the overwhelming number of activities that are powered on the ship. It presents a big challenge for the production teams that are trying to build the best infrastructure possible.

Production on a cruise ship music festival will always be different from regular venues on land. There were some lasers, confetti, bubbles, LED robots, and CO2. There were also some sparklers, that were used a couple of times, and inflatables decked out on the main deck.

The main pool stage was shaped like a ship but made it difficult for people to see the artist if they were close to the front. The music went out a handful of times, which can be frustrating to not only the guests but the artists. T he music could have also been louder during the first couple of days.

We also noticed the LED screen go out in the Rooftop Terrace stage a couple of times. Although the equipment was minimal and had its technical difficulties, Groove Cruise overcame those obstacles with ease.

Groove Cruise usually has a lineup that is heavily house, trance, and melodic bass. Though the lineup is small, it packs a mighty punch! This year, the Miami lineup featured artists like Nora En Pure , Jauz , Blastoyz , Kaivon , and Matroda .

What is wonderful about Groove Cruise is that you are more than likely able to see some of your favorite artists play multiple times throughout the sailing, sometimes even four times!

Each artist brought their all into every set and kept crowds dancing 24 hours a day (the music never stops). There are also many instances where we weren’t familiar with an artist, but got to experience the joy of discovering a new artist, like when we attended an Anthony Atalla 6-hour marathon set.

Guests were also treated to a legendary B4B set on the last night with BIJOU , Jauz, Matroda, and Habstrakt , followed by a B2B set with Gene Farris and Anthony Atalla.

A music festival on a cruise ship is always a unique experience. The cruise was not crowded, and the stages had a lot of room to move around and dance.

The bathrooms were nice and clean, with locations on every floor. There were six different stages, such as the Theatre and Rooftop Terrace, which was a vibe, hosting sunrise sets every morning.

Overall the drink lines were okay, some longer than others, depending on which bar and stage you were at. There was a wide selection of foods that were included in your ticket, but also some premium restaurants, spas, sports courts, and pools.

It only took a few minutes to get from your room to the stage if you needed to change or take a disco power nap. Very comfy!

Overall: A-

Overall, Groove Cruise is more than just a music festival and more than just a lineup. It is a transformational experience. You leave the boat feeling like a completely different person.

You could go on the cruise not knowing a single person and leave with a whole new close-knit family of ravers. You also get to travel to a different country while raving! What’s not to love about that?

Groove Cruise Drops Off Epic Lineup for 2025 Sailing

Eric Prydz, James Hype, Meduza, Nicole Moudaber, Seven Lions, Cristoph, Maddix, and more will set sail on Groove Cruise Miami next year.

Groove Cruise continues to be at the forefront of festivals on the high seas, and they aren’t resting on their laurels. The most recent edition that set sail from Miami was one of their biggest and best yet, but Whet Travel wasn’t done quite yet as the preparation for the 2025 sailing had already commenced. That’s right, Groove Cruise Miami already dropped the initial details for what’s to come next year in late 2023, and now they’ve sweetened the deal with the largest lineup that the festival has hosted to date.

Falmouth, Jamaica , will be the destination when Groove Cruise Miami kicks into gear in 2025, and those on board Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas on January 23-27 are in for a true treat. Eric Prydz , Nicole Moudaber , James Hype , Meduza , and Seven Lions sit atop the lineup for the upcoming sailing, making this a star-studded affair from the jump. And if you thought the list couldn’t get better from there, you’d be sorely mistaken.

Immediate standouts on the undercard include Anabel Englund , Dada Life , Yotto , Markus Schulz , Cristoph , Pretty Pink , Layton Giordani , Orjan Nilsen , Joshwa , Jeremy Olander , Daxson , Maddix , Mark Sixma , MitiS , Odd Mob , and Roger Sanchez . Not to mention James Kennedy , who is sure to draw a crowd with his set. Others who have quickly risen through the ranks and received a nod on the lineup include AIMMIA , ALLEYCVT , Deeper Purpose , it’s murph , DEEPFAKE , Gem & Tauri , Ranger Trucco , and Casmalia .

The lineup isn’t done there, though, as even more artists will keep the vibes and beats grooving for 96 straight hours. This includes everyone from Adam Scott and Adina Butar to Dave Neven and Scotty Boy , and yes, Trance Jesus will be making an appearance again!

The music is just one aspect of Groove Cruise Miami, though, as Captains can enjoy plenty of amenities and participate in activities while on board the Allure of the Seas and at their destination in Jamaica. Although the ship won’t be sailing to Haiti this year, the Whet Foundation will continue to raise funds for Second Mile Haiti to provide aid to the nation. More details can be found on Tiltify .
