Kunzum travel cafe for a ‘me time’.

Kunzum Travel Cafe review

 • October 5, 2016

I had been buried under work for about 2 months and badly needed a break – ‘me’ time with a book. And the best place I could think of was Kunzum Travel Cafe . Hidden in the by lanes of Hauz Khas Village, is this dainty and uber cute café. As the name suggests, it is a travel café and a one of its kind in Delhi.

Kunzum Travel Cafe review

As soon as you enter the café, you are engulfed with positive and happy vibes. Cozy and homely décor with trunks used as tables, low seating, pillows and rugs thrown around for casual seating makeup for a very causal layout. The best part about Kunzum Travel Café is that it is a ‘pay what you like’ café. They only serves tea or coffee with chocolate biscuits. Black tea, Kashmiri kahwa, green tea and black coffee are some options to choose from.

Kunzum Travel Cafe

Sitting by the window, sipping hot tea, rain pouring and a travelogue to read and dream about – life seems whimsical at Kunzum…

There are lots of interesting aspects about the café. An interesting one is a pretty scrapbook in which you can doodle and write a personalized note. You can even buy some quirky books by Ajay Jain, an ardent traveler, author and also the owner of the café.

A variety of workshops and events are held at Kunzum Travel Café – film screenings, photography workshops, nature walks, culture walks, book reading events etc. Get in touch with the café to know more about Kunzum Club membership.

Kunzum Travel Cafe review

It is a great place to catch up with an old friend or meet fellow travel enthusiasts, bloggers, photographers, artists and dreamers. Beautiful photographs of hawelis of Rajasthan, wildlife in Corbett, Himalayan sunsets, faces of people etc. adorn the walls. It has free we-fi, so you can get your laptop. Whether you are working on a project, or need to finish a blog draft, Kunzum Cafe is the ideal place to work.

Sip lemon tea, recharge yourself, interact with people and you’ll see new ideas flowing in. Steal some time from your routine and visit the café for a splendid experience.

Kunzum Travel Cafe

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Strictly speaking this is not a restaurant....it's a cozy little space where people can just sit back and relax and make friends with strangers. I have been there multiple times, mostly solo, and found it a great place to read or surf the internet (free... wifi!). There are travel books galore...and lovely photographs hung on the walls. The coffee and cookies are good. I wish there were more munchies available....but of course everything here is free so they can't possibly begin to serve food! There's a little tip-box near the door where visitors can drop what they like...unique concept that's made it all the more popular I guess! More

It's so easy to find a good place where you can meet people; but, it's so difficult to find one where you can interact with them. An example of such rare place is Kunzum Travel Cafe. By it's very name, One can judge that the... place is all about travel the various aspects related to it. But It's so much more than that. A perfect place to relax, introspect, think, fantasize, meet people, interact, plan, build itineraries, study, work, listen, sing or any kind of activity for which you need some space can be done in here and nobody is going to ask you to leave. It's one of those places which makes you think about how innovative can some places be, how sharing and selflessness can amaze people sometimes and still be a good way to earn some money. It's always hard to find a place in Hauz Khas but when you just come across such a cafe in the streets of Hauz Khas Village, it's a big achievement. The Cafe has been furnished really well and it's walls have been decorated with so many amazing travel pictures which can mesmerize any traveler. The books, The lonely planets and other resources are the biggest recipes on their menu and are the primary reason for their popularity among backpackers. The main thing is that you don't have to pay for the time or the resources. You can just spend any amount of time and leave without paying any amount of money. Fresh Coffee is served with some amazing Cookies if asked. They have also kept this box, a chest in which you can contribute as much money as you feel like to appreciate the concept and the gesture. Me and My friends went in there to talk over coffee. We were unable to, at first, because we got absorbed in the environment. We also came to know about various ventures Kunzum organizes. For me and my friend Abhey, It was a nice place as we both like such places where we can just relax and talk and meet some intellectual people. There was some problem with WiFi though. We kept asking for the password and the one they gave us was incorrect. In spite of telling this to them, there was no proper assistance. But then we managed without WiFi. Coffee was good. Environment is excellent. Seating can become a problem for some. Staff is amazing. Crowd is top-notch. In all, It is a nice place to be at. More

I go to know about this place when they conducted a free photography workshop by Mr. Ashok Kocchar. During the workshops, free coffee and cookies were served. Nice ambience for all the like minded sitting together and sharing their experiences. I like the place, and... more importantly the concept of sharing of ideas among the like minded people in a very casual, comfortable and relaxed environment. Keep it up! More

I went to this place after reading some reviews here, came back totally disgusted. they don't serve any good beverage. tipping them is also uncalled for. what service are they giving anyway. i have been to countless enjoy-and-tip places in Bangalore and Mumbai too. At... least in one of those i got good quality coffee. and i just fail to understand how this place is called "travel cafe". it is just a small shop selling photographs with free tea. while i was browsing through some of the images one man suddenly came up and asked me, "where do you want to go?" i was surprised. i am just a customers. i didn't want to strike any conversation. this cafe is so fake. people talking about where they want to go and where they have been. most of them are either DSLR show off types who have just discovered ladakh after watching 3 idiots. this place is really weird. some foreign tourists are being robbed of their money and time. the photographs are also not so good anyway. avoid this place. it will just waste your time. if you really like travel, you will know by instinct where to go to find travel information. going to kunzum will erode that originality of travel within you. kunzum is just another new-age money-minting place where they make people pay for some "exotic India" photographs. Even the India that Kunzum shows is very inadequate. that tells a lot about the shopowner's own character. More

This should not be rated as a cafe or restaurant. Further, marking it as number 1 in entire Delhi is seriously weird . The place is very small...you will hardly get any space to enter even...coffee is nothing exceptional..not even comparable to so many better... ones... I went there after reading all the reviews and was dissapointed. More

As a place to hangout???? yes, well maybe.. As a concept? Great!! The owner has setup a place to hangout, share ideas, chill ..... all that is great, but as an eating out experience... what can you say for a not so good cup of... coffee and 2 cookies thrown in? More

The atmosphere at kunzum is the first thing that will attract you like a magnet to it. The walls are covered with pictures that are taken over many destinations, mostly ladakh,. And if you have been to ladakh then you will surely jump with excitement... here! The staff is extremely friendly and cooperative.. You can lounge around here as long as you want and sip the perfect travellers coffee ( you'll get to know that once u drink it and get reminded of your journey) the cookies served are yummy! There are many travel journals stocked up and lonely planets that you can pick up and read while youre in the cafe,... There is also free wifi! In totality. This spot at hauz khas village is no doubt my favaourite place in delhi. And a must visit for all the travel junkies like me ! More

It is a hidden gem in Hauz Khas Village, traveler should drop by here for peace and some quiet moments. Or the best is, exchange travel info, travel experience with other travelers. This cafe served coffee that does not have a standard price, you can... pay according to your wills. The interior of the cafe really make one feel very calm. Lots of travel books to read. There even offer free wifi if you needs it. This is why the cafe is unique. More

kunzum travel cafe gurgaon

In the very end of Hauz Khas village you will locate a small building with a small board displaying it's name. People generally ask for travel cafe and they are directed here. The concept is simple. It's a get together place for those who are passionate... wether it's travel, arts or music. There is no charge for their services. Grab a small stool or get comfortable on the floor or cushions, order some coffee and cookies(I liked the cookies !!) and simply get INVOLVED. Ppl are expected to share their experience, ask questions and they are ready to help you make your Travel plans. Good place to make friends. The library has lot of travel magazines. There are photographic workshops too if you want to attend. The staff is very helpful. The ambience is very relaxing and you can also purchase arts if you like. I would recommend it to all passionate travelers to visit the cafe at least once. More

I've now visited this place twice in the last few weeks and its definitely not your average coffee shop. They serve just tea or coffee with biscuits. Its then up to one to put some money in the box as you depart. Its just such... a wonderful place to chill out and watch others. It just one place where people just wanting to meet other in a light setting have a chance to go. No pressure, no airs of any sort. Most unexpected in Delhi of all places. The walls are covered in pictures of himalayas, tibetans and so on. Pick up a wonderful and cheeky book for foreigners about everything Indian. More

I was there few weeks back with my friends. It was my first visit to this cafe. They have just tea , coffee and cookies in the menu. We ordered coffee and got cookies with it. Cookies were very tasty. They have the concept of... paying whatever you wish. The place in ideal for people who are more interested in talks rather then food. Music is soft. You could carry your laptop and work from there and nobody will disturb you. It was strangely satisfying to find such place in hauz khas. More

kunzum travel cafe gurgaon

This place is less of a coffee shop, more of a hang out place. Great atmosphere with nice photographs, books and tea/coffee on offer. The WIFI is not free anymore; it is now 25 Rs. per hour.

Delhi city is highly praised for being the cultural capital of India where the city witnesses an interesting blend of diverse culture of 5000 years. Delhi Tours is the prime destination of the Golden triangle India tour.

Laid-back place in the midst of much more expensive cafes in Haus Khas. I enjoyed the novelty of choosing to pay what I wanted to for my tea. Crowd is youthful with locals as well as independent travellers.

One thing that hits you starkly while visiting Kunzum Travel Cafe, is that it is amazingly different from any other place you might have ever been to. No menu, no bills, no tips, ..., and the list continues. The theme is travel, and the place... justifies it well. The place is nestled in the Hauz Khas Village, near the Hauz Khas Lake, and might be a little difficult to find, given its humble facade. The coffee and the cookies are good, but the travel books and stories are way better. One might want to visit this place, before planning a vacation. More

More
