About Kanha National Park

Kanha National Park was formed in 1955. However, the tiger reserve was introduced in 1973. The forest was initially inhabited by a category of scheduled tribes known as Gonds. Hence it was known as Gondhwanas – The land of Gonds. They are so familiar with animal behavior and have dominated the jungle. However, you can still find a few of the tribals residing around the forest.

Best Time To Visit Kanha National Park

The best time to visit Kanha National Park is anytime between November to May. The sightings are way better in summer since the wildlife moves out of their territory in quest of water.

The forest reserve is usually closed during the monsoons. Moreover, it is not recommended for a safari drive during monsoons as the terrains are expected to be slippery. When it comes to sightings, the wildlife prefers staying within the territory at this time of the year.

How to Reach Kanha National Park

Nearest railway station – Jabalpur

The longest highway in India, NH44 passes through Kanha National Park and there are a lot of state highways that connect here.

State transport buses and Madhya Pradesh State Tourist Development Corporation buses run between Jabalpur and Kisli, and from Gondia to Baihar where one has to change buses for Mukki. Private taxis are available at Jabalpur and Nagpur.

Kanha National Park has a subtropical climate with hot, dry summers and cool, rainy monsoons. Summers are very hot with temperatures frequently rising over 40°C. The dry summer landscape sees wildlife congregating near the few waterholes. The monsoon arrives in July and August, bringing heavy rain which cools the region and supports new plant growth. Winters are cold with temperatures dropping to 5°C at night, though daytimes are warmer around 22°C . The clear sunny winter days are good for wildlife viewing. The extreme seasonal variation supports extensive biodiversity, making Kanha an excellent habitat for wildlife.

THE ROYAL TIGER RESORT The Royal Tiger Resort is situated in Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh ( Central India ). Royal Tiger Resort is located only two minutes drive from the MUKKI gate ( one of the two entrances) of the park. The nearest town is Baihar on the West and Malachkhand on the East. The Resort is set amidst 6 acres of dense sal forests and is inspired by the mud cottages of the tribals even though it is well equipped with all modern facilities. Each suite has an adjoining verandah overlooking the forest, where one can enjoy a quiet cup of tea and take in the tranquil jungle mornings. The slanting tiled roof recreated using local stone is best suited for heavy rainfall and to keep the room temperatures low. Large windows provide ample natural light in each room and an unobstructed view of the forest around. Inspired by the mud cottages of the local tribal the resort has a total of 18 air-conditiones luxury suites. The cottages are arranged in clusters of two or four to accommodate guests travelling in larger or smaller groups. Special care has been taken in making bathrooms the stuff of dreams. The Air-conditioned suites offer an atmosphere of comfort and calm and are tastefully decorated. Keeping in mind the erratic power situation we have installed a fully backup generating unit. This ensures 24 hours hot and cold running water as well as operating other essential equipment. Maintained within the property are sacred Mahua trees that have been worshipped by the tribal for generations. To retain the sanctity of these trees, we have built “Chabutras” (platforms) around each tree and guests can spend a few meditative moments here. In the main dining room guests can enjoy delectable cuisine including fresh river fish and villages poultry. We are proud to be offering organic vegetable, wheat and milk, the farm fresh vegetables are grown in the nearby villages. The kitchen is equipped with all modern equipment including Tandoor for mouthwatering bar-be-cues. A “Machan” created on the roof is an ideal setting for guests to enjoy the spectacular view of the surrounding forests while having a drink. Our well stocked library offers you a variety of reference books and reading material. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive letter in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows: 30 days prior to arrival - 10% of the tour cost. 15 days to 29 days prior to arrival - 30% of the tour cost. 07 days to 14 days prior to arrival - 40 % of the tour cost. 02 days to 06 days prior to arrival - 50% of the tour cost. Less than 48 hours or no show - NO REFUND. In case of peak season - weekends or weekdays (Holi, Diwali, X'Mas & New Year) hotel bookings separate cancellation policy is applicable (which would be advised as and when required). In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. Welcome to Kanha Wildlife tour. The tour starts at Jabalpur airport. You will be received by our tour representative and taken on a road trip to Kanha National Park . Day 2 : Kanha National Park (Morning and Evening Safari)

The day starts with early morning jungle safari by Jeep . Your guide will pick you up at your hotel and take you on the trip through the park. Your guide is an experienced wildlife naturalist, who will give you an insightful tour. The park is a home to major population of Royal Bengal Tiger, leopards, sloth bear, Barasingha and Indian wild dog.
