Focus Travel Partnership has appointed Clare Collins, co-owner and Managing Director Corporate Travel at CT Travel Group, to its Board of Directors.

In this new role, Collins will “leverage her deep industry expertise and work closely with the existing Focus Board to guide the strategic direction of Focus Travel Partnership”.

Schumacher said: “ Clare will be an invaluable asset as we continue to achieve our business goals and navigate the exciting opportunities ahead for the whole Partnership.

“Clare’s appointment reflects our commitment to advocating for the next generation of leaders and our ongoing objectives of driving growth, innovation, and service excellence.”

I've used Focus a couple of times from NY-Philly due to necessity. The positives: buses run often and usually on time, Chargers on bus generally work, relatively cheap at $20 round trip, can book easily online at goto bus site, and convenient drop off locations for me (essentially both Chinatowns) The negatives are the buses are dirty, the people on the bus are rude and loud, and drives are at times are dangerous (I usually sit in the front and watch the driver). Bring your headphones because the people on the bus are loud and unruly. Generally avoid but if you have no other alternative at this cost, go with focus.

focus travel services

What's not to love? For $35, you can get a round trip pass from NY (pickup in Chinatown or midtown) to DC (Chinatown). You can order your tickets online by searching "gotobus" but let me tell you... you'll save $2 if you buy your ticket in person. Tickets are "open" here if you buy them in person. That means you look at the time you want to ride the bus and you arrive 30 minutes earlier than your desired departure time. When your bus is here, there will be someone inside announcing it (i.e. 2:30 to DC). When you're lined up to board, the driver/manager will collect your ticket. If you purchased your ticket online, you HAVE to give that printout of purchase to the people manning the ticket windows. There, you'll get a handwritten piece of paper with your time on it; that's your "ticket". I would probably avoid any afternoon-early evening departures because getting out of the city can be quite torturous! Imagine taking 2 hours just to get out of the city...on a Friday (they'll pick up at Chinatown and drive local to midtown for the second pickup). Pro tips: 1) bring a usb+portable charger- sometimes, the bus's USB port won't work 2) sit near the front and not the back- the bathroom smell from the back will creep forward 3) board in Chinatown because you get first dibs on seats! 4) buy tickets in person and you'll save $

When I ride any sort of bus, I should not have to worry if I am in safe hands or not. Normally bus rides via Focus Travel Agency are without incident but two days ago, I experienced a bus ride that has shaken my confidence in riding with this company until further notice. Upon arriving in NYC from Philly, I was not given enough time to retrieve my luggage by the Driver, Luis (not sure of spelling). He was belligerent with me when I could nor easily locate my luggage in the bus' outer luggage compartment. I apologized to him repeatedly when he nearly hit me on the back of the head when he grabbed the luggage compartment door and slammed it shut. I did make a complaint to the company's front desk staff and they were clearly very disturbed by my description of the incident. They told me they would speak with Luis and would contact me with any updates, and as such I must commend the office staff for the attention to my complaint. However, I do not feel safe riding with Focus Travel Agency so long as Luis remains employed here, let alone allowed to operate a bus anywhere. I hope Focus' management will discipline him appropriately as I do not want to cease doing business with a bus company that has treated me well for so long.

You get what you pay for with Focus travel. They have one of the cheapest tickets for NY to PHL so don't expect much. I haven't had any bad customer service experiences with Focus yet. Gets me from point A to point B efficiently and I go to Philadelphia every week. The schedule says the buses come every hour but sometimes they come late because of traffic and estimated time arrivals may differ due to that as well as the stopping to pump gas and the occasional riders that need to get off at Cherry Hill Mall or Exit 4. I must say that, you must BEWARE if you do decide to ride with Focus. The customers are EXTREMELY RUDE, especially the ones that think that because you're speaking English to them, they're entitled to ignore you. Multiple times I had to wait for the bus driver to explain to these passengers that they have to give up a seat if a bus is full. One older Asian lady spit on me because I waited for her to move her stuff. She didn't think I knew Chinese and was messaging on her phone how she needed to look busy so that I would find another seat. Then she proceeded to elbow me the entire ride. When we arrived in Philadelphia, she tried to push me into the aisle with her bag and then again down the stairs getting off the bus. There was one time the bus broke down but the bus driver tried his best to keep the crowd down as it was late in the night and people had places to be. I think they dealt with the situation fairly quickly because a bus arrived about an hour later ( we were halfway to Philadelphia).

Photo of Stan F.

Ehhh...girl behind counter was rude as hell. But $10 for tickets to philly for a bus that arrived only 15 minutes late...can't complain too much. Seats were a bit more cramped than the eastern bus line but still bearable for a 3 hour ride (if you're 5'7 and under). Not really sure what else to write about. PS: don't forget to get your tickets stamped at the window if you ordered online.

Best bus in town! And I've used 3 different Chinatown bus services (they are not all created equal), as well as bolt and megabus traveling between Philadelphia and NYC. I even rode the now defunct Fungwah bus back in the day.... Don't get all the Chinatown bus companies confused, they are independently operated and distinctly different. I found this out after HG bus refused to let me on the purple bus from hell because I had a Focus ticket apparently (yeah I thought all asian bus companies looked alike back then). Focus travel via Gotobus.com is by far the best one. The office in NYC is on 120 E Broadway, go in here to get a ticket. If you are using the Gotobus.com app to purchase online, also check in at the ticket window to get a ticket!!! I didn't do this, they were understanding but do yourself a favor don't make the same mistake as me. You'll pay a little more than the other Chinatown bus companies $12 each way, nyc-Philly, but generally less than mega and bolt. TIP: If you book online round trip, you get a $4 discount. What you get: - 5 stars. Safe bus ride - 5 stars. bilingual ticketing agent on the bus, they are very reasonable and nice - 4 stars. pretty nice fellow bus riders - 5 stars. door to door service between Chinatowns - 4 stars. clean updated bus - 5 stars. USB chargers at each seat that work - 5 stars. bus is on time - 3 stars. smelliness really depends on customers, ranges from great to slightly funky What you won't get - 3 stars. Orderliness with boarding the bus. Passengers crowd the bus before it's fully deboarded and cut in line. Not as bad as the other Chinatown bus though, but not as organized as bolt and mega. Arrive early to get a good seat. Overall, 5 stars for value and safety. For the price and availability (I book last minute a lot, and prices stay the same) you can't beat it. I love this bus!

Photo of April D.

Pay more for a better quality service!!!! I rode with this agency for two trips. Both equally as bad. I travelled From NY to DC and back. I am riding the bus as we speak. I'll try to keep it short. 1. It SMELLED!!! First and foremost, the buses were not swept or cleaned after each arrival. So we wouldn't know how long certain foods or trash have been left on the floor. The buses, literally, smelled like S!#%. It's as if they had toilet problems but decided not to clean or do a maintenance check. Ever. 2. The buses were old and decrepit. The buses really were falling apart. You can hear the frame shake & hear the metal parts rumble. Every time we hit a bump in the road, the frame would shake. The first bus I rode, the AC didn't blow cold air and died mid travel. The second bus, I had the driver ask for someone to help her nail a piece of the bus frame together because it was scrapping against the street. 3. It's not worth what you pay for. I understand if it's an hour or two travel. Maybe you can put up with the flaws but if you're travelling for 5 hours. It's not worth the headache. 4. In general, Cheap tickets attract a certain clientele. In one bus ride had a drunk girl pass out in the front, had a guy who cussed out the bus driver coz he was driving "too slow", and some creepy guy look at me and touch himself forcing me to move. I did report him. Although, REMEMBER, it's the luck of the draw. Not all experiences will be like mine. 5. If you're getting dropped off at Baltimore, MD. Be prepared to get dropped off at the back of some random building. In the dark. In an isolated area. There is no station or center. I did not have direct Customers service experience with them, so I can't directly comment. Although, judging by the quality of service they are providing, I wouldn't be too confident. My final advice: purchase at your own risk.

Photo of Anthony Z.

Up at 4:45am writing this review. Why? Because I'm trapped in a window seat by a 500 pound woman sitting next to me. Taking up half my seat. Her weight crushing against mine, ruining any chance I have of getting the slightest amount of sleep. Not only is my sleep ruined, but I've had to switch positions multiple times throughout the night to accommodate my seat partner's many "interesting" sleep positions. It ranges from forcing me to sit on the edge of my seat to leaning against the window to prevent being crushed by this large woman. Now, I understand this isn't the bus company's fault. However, what irritates me is that there are three OPEN seats in the front row taken by the bus's manager. Yes, all FOUR front row seats are taken by one person, the bus manager. He is gracefully sleeping, with his legs stretched out across the aisle, taking up all four seats in one row. When I wake him up and sit down, the conversation proceeds as follows: *bus manager wakes up* Bus Manager: Yo bro, what you think you doing? Me: Sorry, there seems to be a rather large woman sitting next to me. Bus Manager: So what? Get back in your seat. Me: I'm unable to sleep because of her. She's taking up half my seat, and constantly waking me up when she accidentally touches me. Bus Manager: Yeah and? You think you better than everyone else? No one else is sitting in the front row. Me: No but you see... Bus Manager: I don't care. Get back in your seat. No, I don't think I'm better than everyone else, but you certainly do, princess, sleeping gracefully with your body stretched across four seats. And I'm not the only one to get into an argument with him. He has threatened to kick other customers off the bus for minor things. Worst customer service for any bus company I've ever travelled with. Foot rest broken, USB ports are only on every other row rather than every row unlike most bus companies (assuming they want to cut costs in half installing them), no working Wi-Fi, no TV.

Photo of Ying C.

Reliable. Excellent for the price you paid. If you want more amenities and services, go somewhere else and pay more. This is no the bus company that you want. My experience was good from ny Chinatown to philadelphia. For those who complained, please keep in mind what you paid and what is the cost of doing business in NYC. Bus is not clean and you will not have high class bus mates. But if you want to go from one place to another at a cheaper price, this is the bus to go with.

Photo of Amber M.

It's the Chinatown bus. For $20, you can't expect luxury or comfort. The staff is incredibly unfriendly, buses dirty, and passengers crazy. All to be expected when you pay such a low fare...which is why I don't feel at all bad about giving out this one star (which would of course be 0 if there were such a rating).

We're pausing our live coverage for now.

You can scroll below to catch up on the latest developments, and we'll be back with our regular coverage tomorrow.

Six people have been killed in a Russian attack on a small town in the southern Zaporizhzhia region, a Ukrainian official has said.

A further eight people have been injured, regional governor Ivan Fedorov said.

Infrastructure, a shop and residential buildings in Vilniansk have also been damaged, he added.

The strike comes after five people were killed in the Kursk region of Russian due to a Ukrainian drone attack.

Two young children were also injured in the strike on the village of Gorodishche, around 73 miles (118km) from the Ukrainian border, Kursk governor Alexey Smirnov said.

Two other people were injured and were in a "serious condition" in hospital, he added.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met one of the men released from Russian captivity earlier today.

The Ukrainian president met Nariman Dzhelyal who was successfully returned home after three years in captivity.

"We will bring security to all our people and peace to Ukraine. I thank everyone who is helping. I thank Nariman for this meeting and for his strength," Mr Zelenskyy said.

Mr Dzhelyal was detained in Crimea in 2021 while serving as the first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People.

During his imprisonment, he sent several letters, Mr Zelenskyy said.

He added that in one of them he wrote: "We are fighting not only for the integrity of our territories but also for the unity of our society, our beautiful, strong nation."

US officials told Reuters news agency late last night that the Biden administration would provide Ukraine with $150m (£118.6m) worth of weapons and ammunition, including HAWK air defence interceptors and 155 millimetre artillery munitions.

The weapons aid package is expected be unveiled on Monday, the officials said.

Ukraine has urgently requested air defence support as Russia has pounded its energy facilities in recent weeks via aerial attacks.

The US began shipping HAWK interceptor missiles to Ukraine in 2022 as an upgrade to the shoulder-launched Stinger air defence missile systems - a smaller, shorter-range system.

The support package will include other munitions and equipment to support Ukraine's defence needs, the officials added.

The US has provided Ukraine with more than $50bn (£39.5bn) in military aid since 2022.

We reported earlier on the 10 Ukrainian civilians who were released from Russian captivity earlier today after years of imprisonment (see 8.49am post).

Watch them reunite with their loved ones in Kyiv's international airport in newly released footage.

A report by the Ukrainian military's centre for strategic communications has found that the country's forces have damaged or destroyed more than 30 Russian military aircraft in the first six months of 2024.

Most of the strikes against the aircraft have taken place in occupied Ukraine except for a handful of strikes over the Sea of Azov and within Russia, the centre said, as reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

The centre did not specify what portion of these Ukrainian strikes were air defence interceptions of Russian aircraft in flight and what percentage were strikes against Russian aircraft at airfields.

The ISW said they were unable to verify the report.

But it said the downing of Russian aircraft, especially critical aircraft like the A-50 and Il-22, has temporarily constrained Russian aviation activities over occupied Ukraine, but added Ukrainian forces "have yet to be able to significantly attempt to contest the air domain".

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed that Russian strikes have resulted in Ukraine losing around 80% of its thermal power and one third of its hydroelectric power.

Discussing the attack in Dnipro, Mr Zelenskyy said it was a reminder to Ukraine's allies that the country needed more air defence systems.

He said: "This is why we constantly remind all of our partners: only a sufficient amount of high quality of air defence systems, only a sufficient amount of determination from the world at large can stop Russian terror."

Kyiv has also struck back at Russia with its own attacks, which also often target energy infrastructure.

Belarus has deployed additional air defence forces to its border with Ukraine to protect "critical infrastructure facilities" due to increased Ukrainian drone activity, a Belarusian military commander has said.

Belarus, an ally of Russia, said earlier this week it had shot down a quadcopter that had illegally crossed the border from Ukraine "to collect information about the Belarusian border infrastructure".

The situation in the airspace over the border remains tense, Andrei Severinchik, commander of the Belarusian Air Defence Forces, said.

"We are ready to decisively use all available forces and means to protect our territory and the population of the Republic of Belarus from possible provocations in the airspace," he said.

Belarus' defence ministry said earlier today it had information showing Ukraine had been moving more troops, weapons and military equipment to the northern Zhytomyr region, which borders Belarus.

There was no immediate response from Ukraine.

Russian elites and oligarchs have reportedly moved from criticising the country's war effort in Ukraine to supporting it, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has reported.

Mikhail Zygar, the founder of the Russian opposition television channel TV Rain, reported that many elites who were opposed to the war in 2022 started to support the war in 2023 because they "believe Russia is prevailing".

Mr Zygar said these people made this assessment due to Russia's slow but steady battlefield gains, a persisting Ukrainian munitions disadvantage, and perceived "waning" Western security assistance to Ukraine.

One anonymous Russian oligarch who previously criticised the war reportedly told Mr Zygar that Russia must win the war otherwise "they won't allow us to live... and Russia would collapse".

The ISW said it cannot independently verify Mr Zygar's reporting but it is consistent with the institute's assessment that this section of Russian society came to heel behind Vladimir Putin in support of the war after his government intensified crackdowns against elites in the wake of the 2022 invasion.

As Russia announces it has captured a second village in 24 hours (see 12.26pm post), let's take a look at where Russia has advanced along the frontline with Ukraine.

As well as pockets of advances on the border north of Kharkiv, Russia appears to have captured areas along the length of the front, from the Donetsk region right up to the western edge of Luhansk.
