Once on I-595 East from either direction, follow signs to the Port Everglades exit.

Onsite parking garages and parking costs .

Parking at the Fort Lauderdale cruise port is on a first-come, first-served basis and is the best option if your budget allows. Parking fees start at $15 per day.

The Port has two parking garages with nearly 4,000 spaces and several lots:

  • Palm Parking Garage is the largest covered parking lot with 1,966 spaces and serves terminals 19, 21, 25, 26, and 29.
  • Heron Parking Garage is another covered lot with over 1,800 parking spots and serves terminals 2 and 4.
  • The surface lots are not covered (AKA: exposed to the Florida heat!). Lots 18 and 19 offer 600 and 400 spaces if you want to park outdoors. Truthfully, though, if you park at Port Everglades, they’ll likely direct you to the open lot that day closest to the embarking cruise ships. That’s what they did when we sailed with Celebrity Cruises .

✧ Parking Offsite Near Port Everglades

If you want reassurance that you will have parking, choose privately run lots such as Park By The Ports , located in Dania Beach, where the Fort Lauderdale airport is; it’s right next to the cruise port. A shuttle will take you to your cruise terminal, and you can reserve a spot in advance. Other options are Park N’ Go , and Parkway Parking , which offer the best prices.

✧ Airport Shuttle Option

If you’re flying into an airport to board your cruise, you can take a third-party shuttle from either Fort Lauderdale (FLL) Airport or Miami Airport (MIA), which includes the shuttle price, driver’s gratuity, and Port Fees. There is no free shuttle service.

✧ Uber/Lyft

Taxis and rideshares are available to get to Port Everglades. Expect to pay between $15-$20 from FLL and between $80 and $120 to the port in Fort Lauderdale from MIA.

✦ Getting to Port Everglades via Public Transportation

Though it’s not very direct, it’s possible to get to the port by bus if you’re up for a bit of a trek. Local bus service stops at the Northport section of Port Everglades on SE 17th S. Look for scheduled bus routes 1 or 40 for more details.

If you’re traveling to Fort Lauderdale from Miami or Orlando, the Brightline train is a good option. You take the train to Fort Lauderdale, then can hop in a taxi, Lyft, or Uber to get to the cruise port, which is only 4 miles away.

Brightline tickets are as low as $10 each way for adults, depending on the route and day of the week.

✦ Getting to Port Everglades with Cruise Line Transfers

Cruise lines often provide port transfers between airports and hotels, and hotels and cruise ports. Be sure to inquire with your cruise line to see if this is an option. Some cruise lines include it, while others offer it at an additional cost.

Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale FL Terminal Information

Last updated on January 22nd, 2024 at 02:24 pm

Known as the "Cruise Capital of the World," Fort Lauderdale boasts multiple cruise terminals that provide easy access to the beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and cultural attractions of the city. Enjoy a seamless embarkation process before setting sail to your desired destination.

Port Everglades is located at 1850 Eller Drive, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33316 . Easy to access via car, taxi, bus, rail, and ship, the port is also conveniently located next to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), making it very convenient to fly in to Fort Lauderdale and get right on a cruise. It is a large and busy cruise port, but there are lots of signs to help you on your way.

Port Everglades cruise terminal has three entrances:

– 17th Street Causeway, located at Eisenhower Boulevard – State Road 84, located just off of US 1 (Spangler Blvd) – I-595 East (Eller Drive)

There is a security checkpoint at each entrance where you will need to show your ID and cruise tickets. Check the large digital signs as you enter the port to see which terminal at which your ship is docked.

There are 8 cruise terminals located within Port Everglades:

  • Terminal 2 is primarily used by Carnival Corp. ships equipped with Ocean Medallion technology
  • Terminal 4 is being redesigned for Disney Cruises which is set to open in Fall 2023
  • Terminal 25 is primarily used by Celebrity’s most innovative ships (i.e. Beyond, Edge and Apex).
  • The other terminals are interchangeable between cruise lines.

Because Port Everglades is such a busy port, it is important to arrive after 11:30am, and no later than 2 hours prior to your ship’s departure time, but it’s advised to follow the boarding time given to you in your cruise documents.

Transportation to Port Everglades

Port Everglades Embarkation Tips:

– If coming from FLL, allow 45 mins – 1 hour to get your luggage, find transportation, traffic to the port and clearing the security checkpoint inside the port entrance

– There are large digital signs at each entrance which will show you at which terminal your ship is docked. Follow the brightly-colored signs to more easily navigate to your terminal and parking garages.

– Check-in typically begins around 11am, but most cruise lines will give you a check-in time. While most people like to get aboard the ship as early as possible, this makes for very, very long lines, especially when boarding a large ship.

– It is recommended that luggage is dropped off at the terminal prior to parking

– Passengers with Special Needs – before you go and stand in the long line with everyone else, ask a uniformed staff person if there is a line for those who are unable to stand for long periods of time or walk long distances. There is usually an expedited line,  and staff with wheelchairs if assistance is needed getting from the terminal to the ship.  On a previous cruise from Fort Lauderdale (2019), we were travelling with a wheelchair, and as soon as we stepped into the cruise terminal, a porter came right over to push the chair, and instead of waiting in a line, an employee came to us with an iPad and checked us in, before the porter wheeled us onto the ship. From shuttle to ship, the whole process took about 10 minutes.

– Make sure you have all your cruise documents handy, and make sure you are following the most up-to-date health protocols as laid out by your cruise line.

FORT LAUDERDALE CRUISE TERMINAL

With annual passenger counts of nearly 4 million, Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) can count itself amongst the busiest cruise ports in the world. There are nine modern cruise terminals from which passengers can depart so it is important to know which terminal your cruise ship will be using or you might try to drop your luggage off at the wrong one!

Each air-conditioned terminal provides guests with free Wifi, snack and beverage machines, restrooms, and a seating area. But you won’t be in them too long; you’ll be headed for fun on your ship!

If you are using a GPS or map program (we use  Here WeGo ), input one of the following addresses to find your terminal:

PASSENGER & LUGGAGE DROP OFF

EMBARKATION:   Luggage drop-off at parking lots is provided on a limited basis (indicated on the parking lot signage). For faster service, you can drop off your luggage and companions at the terminal first. The port recommends arriving at the port after 11:30 am to avoid traffic. If you are being dropped off, please note that anyone 18 years old and older must be able to produce government-issued photo ID at the security checkpoint before entering the port.

DISEMBARKATION:   When returning you can either retrieve your vehicle and return to the terminal to pick up your companions and luggage in the loading area, or take your luggage and companions to your parking lot to retrieve your vehicle.

If you are being picked up from your cruise there are free cell phone waiting lots available on weekends for the person picking you up to wait. One lot is located at 1850 Eller Drive, just past the security checkpoint at the 1-595 entrance to the port. The other lot is located just north of Cruise Terminal 18 (1901 SE 32nd Street).

There is porter service available to help you with your bags to private cars, taxis, or to baggage trucks that take bags directly to the airport.

The area next to the cruise terminal is for loading and unloading only so you should be prepared to unload/load quickly to allow others to do the same.

TAXIS : As to be expected there is a high demand for taxis during peak disembarkation hours and they may not be readily available. Please account for this wait time in your plans for departure day, especially when booking a flight home.

MONEY MATTERS

The currency of the United States is the US Dollar (USD) which is divided into 100 cents. It is printed on paper bills in the following denominations: $1, $2 (uncommon), $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100. It also includes the following coins: 1¢ (penny), 5¢ (nickel), 10¢ (dime), and 25¢ (quarter). There are 50¢ pieces and dollar coins but they aren’t common.

Although it’s not mandatory, tipping is customary in the United States and some service industries will expect a tip for a job well done. Visitors from outside the country may also be surprised at how much is tipped as it can be quite a bit more than in, for example, European countries.

RESTAURANTS:   It is customary to offer your waiter or waitress a tip between 15-20% depending on the level of service they provided. Usually, you will find the service is very attentive (refilling your drinking, checking on your party etc.) but if the service isn’t great you can leave a smaller tip or even no tip. Typically service that doesn’t warrant a tip does warrant speaking with a manager to voice your dissatisfaction. If you are dining with a large group (usually 8 or more) the restaurant may add an 18% service charge to your bill automatically so check for this before you add your tip. This is usually indicated at the bottom of a menu if the restaurant does this, or it will be indicated on your bill.

BARS : A tip of 10-15% is appropriate at a bar. In some places, you’ll find a “tip jar” on the bar and others you can give the tip to your server directly.

TAXIS:   A tip of 10-15% of your fare is customary, especially if your driver helps you with your luggage.

Paying with a credit or debit card is very common and in most restaurants, bars, and even taxis,  you’ll be able to add a tip to the total on the machine when you settle the bill if you don’t have cash. This is so common that many credit card machines now even have buttons with 15% / 18% / 20% on them so it will calculate the tip for you if you choose that option. You are always given the option to select the amount you’d like to tip, or you can opt not to put the tip on your card and give a cash tip instead.

BANKS & ATMS

Finding an ATM (Automated Teller Machine) will not be too difficult in Fort Lauderdale.  We’ve pinned several ATMs that are near the terminals to the map below.

Generally, in the US, you will find ATMs at banks (some may have drive-thru ATMs), in grocery stores, gas stations, and in pharmacies (of which two common ones are   CVS   and   Walgreens ).

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) Cruise Parking (Where to Park): Prices, Profiles, & Map

Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale has plenty of parking options, all located convenient to the cruise port itself. But that doesn’t mean you’ll pay the same price everywhere. In fact, you could save considerably just by picking the right cruise parking option. (Planning to stay the night in Fort Lauderdale fore your cruise? You can save money by booking one of these hotels with cruise parking .)

Port Everglades cruise parking

That said, the price charged by the port (now $20 per day) is reasonable when compared to other departure ports and it’s right at the ships. If you’re wanting a nice mix of value and convenience, then parking at the port is hard to beat.

Even so, there are less expensive spots to park during your cruise. We’ve rounded up your best options — including information about each — below. And for your convenience we’ve also created this easy table to help you compare all of your options.

Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking Options

Port Everglades Official Parking The official parking provided by the port is by far the most convenient. There are two main garages. The Northport parking garage (now called the Heron garage) has 1,800 spaces and serves cruise terminals 2 and 4. The Midport garage (now called the Palm garage) serves terminals 19, 21, 25, 26, and 29 with 2,000 spots. In addition there are surface lots available at the port with another 1,000 parking spots for other terminals and overflow parking. This includes a lot for Royal Caribbean’s Terminal 18.

Parking fares are $20 per day for a regular car; $25 for oversized vehicles. Keep in mind those rates are likely to give you garage parking, which makes the cost an even better value. As well, you can’t beat the location right next to the cruise terminals.

One note — if you have a Florida toll exemption permit, a specially modified vehicle (ramps or special controls) for the disabled, or a disabled veteran license plate (any state), then you can have your parking fees waved.

  • Cost: $20.00 per day
  • Distance: At terminal
  • Website: https://www.porteverglades.net/cruise/parking/
  • Phone: 954-523-3404

Park by the Ports The cheapest option we found for parking in Fort Lauderdale for a cruise, this lot is located south of the airport and cruise port. While it is a little farther from the port than other lots, it is also among the cheapest. We found rates starting at just $9.99 per day plus taxes/fees.

The free shuttle (for the first four passengers in a car, $8 after that) to the port takes only about 10 minutes to ride to the ship. Note that there is no RV parking available at this location.

  • Cost: $9.99 per day (plus taxes)
  • Distance: 4 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.parkbytheports.com/
  • Phone: 954-727-5566

Park ‘N Go Park ‘N Go offers parking just a few blocks from the port, but for much cheaper than you’ll pay at official port parking. If booked online ahead of time, Park ‘N Go offers a discounted rate. In our search, we found rates of $12.00 per day, plus taxes and fees. That’s just over half the cost of parking at the cruise port.

If you decide to use this service, we highly recommend booking online before hand. While the Internet rate we found was around $12.00 plus tax, the drive-up rate was more expensive. Park ‘N Go also offers a free shuttle ride to the port.

  • Cost: $12.00 per day (plus taxes) when booked online ($15 drive up)
  • Distance: 0.75 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.bookparkngo.com/
  • Phone: 888-764-7275

Tropical Airport Parking Instead of a traditional parking lot, Tropical Airport Parking works with local hotels to use some of their parking lot space for passengers. So hotels get to fill up some of their empty parking and cruise passengers get discounted rates.

Our search found parking at several different area hotels — Hilton Garden Inn, Fairfield Inn, Homewood Suites, and SpringHill Suites. All are relatively close to the port (10-15 minutes). Rates vary, but we found them starting around $7.45 per day. With taxes/fees, you can expect the price for a 7-day cruise to run about $60.

A shuttle runs to the port at specified times for $20 per person each way.

  • Cost: $7.45-$11.99 per day (plus taxes)
  • Distance: Varies ($20 pp shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.tropicalairportparking.com/
  • Phone: 954-278-1990

Self Park FLL Located on the south side of the Fort Lauderdale airport, this parking lot is a bit farther than the rest of the lots we’ve covered. However, it is still plenty close and offers both covered and uncovered parking for both airport and cruise passengers.

During our search, we found rates of $8.95 per day for self-parking, which is uncovered. Including taxes and fees, that came to about $81 for a week-long cruise. Want to park in a covered spot? In that case it is $16.95 per day. That adds up to $144 for a week cruise after taxes and fees.

Note: This lot does have shuttle service to the cruise port. So once you park, you will need to arrange an Uber/Lyft to the port and back.

  • Cost: $8.95 per day (plus taxes) outdoor, $16.95 for indoor
  • Distance: 3 miles
  • Website: https://www.selfparkfll.com/
  • Phone: 844-727-5355

Individual Hotels If you are staying in the Fort Lauderdale area, contact your hotel to see if they will allow you to park your car for the length of your cruise.

Many hotels cater to cruisers and have special daily parking rates. In some cases, parking can be as little as $5 per day . Here is a list of hotels in the area with cruise parking .

Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking Cost

The price for Fort Lauderdale cruise parking will vary widely depending on where you want to park. Port Everglades itself has the most expensive option at $20 per day, but it is right at the cruise terminal, offering convenience. Park by the Ports charges just $9.99 per day during our search (plus taxes/fees), but requires a shuttle to get to the ship.

Keep in mind that lots will also have taxes and fees (prices are already included in the port’s official lots) that brings prices closer together. In total, expect to spend from around $65-$120 for a one-week cruise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Am I Being Charged for 8 Days of Parking for a 7-Day Cruise? You’ll notice that lots charge by the day. For some, they count each day that you park there as a full day. So if you arrive a noon on Sunday for a 7-day cruise, that first Sunday is a full day. When to get back to port the next Sunday, you’ll also be charged for that day too, even though you will usually leave by 8-10 a.m. It can be frustrating, but that’s the way it is.

Is Free Parking Available Anywhere? South Florida is densely populated, which means parking space is at a premium. The only place that will have free parking are some hotels that offer park and cruise deals to entice guests. Everywhere else will charge you to park.

If you are disabled, then you might qualify for free parking at Port Everglades. Those with toll exemptions permits, specially modified vehicles or disabled veteran plates can get free parking .

What’s the Cheapest Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking? The cheapest lot we’ve found is hotel parking with Tropical Airport Parking. They offer rates around $7.50 per day for a cruise. That’s hard to beat and is significantly less than the cost of parking at the Port Everglades cruise terminals. Just note that the shuttle is $20 per person, each way.

Are Reservations Required? Reservations for parking depend on the lot. If parking at the port itself, then reservations are not required (nor are they accepted). You simply show up and park. For independent parking lots, it’s a good idea to book ahead of time. Not only does this give you a guaranteed spot, but it often provides a discount off the drive-up rate as well.

Hi there We are arriving on the Marella Discovery cruise ship at the beginning of June and wondered how easy it is the walk from the terminal into downtown Fort Lauderdale especially around the canals and waterways

It’s not easy. You’ll want to get an Uber/Lyft or taxi into town.

Has anyone taken a 12 passenger van to the port and used the parking garage? or has anyone used the surface parking near the garage?

I have done Park ‘N Go a few times, but have not done the Port Everglades Official Parking. So I wonder if your statement that “The official parking provided by the port is by far the most convenient” is true. Park ‘N Go (and maybe other off-site facilities) offer a valet service where you pull-in, unload your luggage (or sometimes they unload it for you), and you get transported to the front steps of the port terminal. I suspect there may be a lot more walking involved at the official parking, and if you didn’t drop off your luggage beforehand, you’ll be hauling it from your car to the terminal. That doesn’t seem as “convenient” as the off-site parking options. The only thing inconvenient is the shuttle ride, which pales in comparison to dragging your luggage through the parking lot.

We think parking literally across the street from the ship is most convenient. Plus, you don’t have to wait on shuttles coming or going. Get off the ship, walk to your car, and you’re off.

That said, we typically opt for independent lots when we cruise due to the cost savings. But in our mind parking at the port is much more convenient.

You list the price of Park by the Ports as $6 per day, but when I went to make the reservation, the price was $8.99 per day for a regular size car. That’s a 50% discrepancy. A huge difference! Please update your information.

Thanks for letting us know. Keep in mind that rates can and do change based on season, economic conditions, etc.

We parked in the cruise ship lot on Monday 7/22 and due to medical problems we had to leave cruise on Wed 7/24. How do we retrieve our vehicle from parking lot before return of cruise ship on Sat 7/27??? Val

Sorry to hear that. You should call the port directly and explain the situation. You can reach the port at 954-523-3404

What is the closest to the port everglade to park and go .

I am looking for some info please. I am a crew member who will be sailing on the Zuiderdam from Dec 6 and am wanting long term parking at the port Everglades port (Month to month) as I will be docking there every 10/11days and will need access to my car. How do I get monthly rates ? Thanks in advance

Brent, we’d suggest calling the parking lots directly. They will likely let you park at a discount for the long stay.

Park By the Ports is charging 9.99 per day for a regular sized car.

Read your recomendation for cruise parking at ft lauderdale for park n go, your article states that park n go charge $8 per day, Just been on their website and they are charging $15 per day, or $13.5 per day if booked online.

Thanks for letting us know. We looked into it. You’ll find cheaper rates for booking farther in advance. Rates are higher if booking closer to the cruise date.

Port Everglades terminal 29 for Royal Caribbean cruise

This was probably the most unorganized terminal that I've ever seen. First off we were greeted at the door with someone saying it was for the wrong ship. Was that supposed to be a joke? Getting through the line wasn't too bad, except instead of a monitor behind the agents telling you that line was empty, they had people with paddles that they help up. We were checked in but not given boarding numbers. The worst part was that there were not nearly enough seats for those who were done checking in. Then we stood there for about 20 minutes in the crowd. When they were finally ready to board us, instead of a PA system, or the number boarding coming up on the TV screens, a lady was trying to yell who was to board over the din of the crowd standing there. We figured out that priority boarders would go first. But then she tells the Gold level people to go, but tells the ones who've been standing there for a while to wait till the ones sitting went. This takes her yelling over the crowd again to get them to understand, and then they can't find their way out through the crowd. We just went at that point, it was getting ridiculous. Then in disembarking we had number 3 and went to get our luggage. My suitcase had the handle torn off, it's a wonder that all my luggage tags didn't disappear too. I don't know if every terminal is as bad as this one, but we've decided not to sail out of Port Everglades again.

We toured 2 ships while at Port Everglades and it was easy in / easy off for the Princess ship. The Holland America was a different story - the staff sent our group 150 or so to another side of the building to wait for 20 minutes only to come back and tell us we were not at the correct location. Very poorly organized from Holland America.

We took few cruises from Port Everglades. It’s very convenient ,clean place. It is easy place to pick up and drop off passengers from or to the cruises.

This was my 3rd Cruise experience from Port Everglade and it was fine. Port is typical working port, nothing fancy,Security checkpoint at gate onto port, flashed passports and we waved thru.We were on Pier 29 which seems to be set apart from other piers. Baggage drop off there was painless walk into a large shed type building, security checkpoint, check in and into a departure lounge awaiting boarding of ship. other then going on a Cruise there is nothing of any interest to see or do at port. it a 5 min drive from airport (20 dollars in taxi).

Sailed on a Friday from Pier 29. Arrived around 1 pm, had to wait about 45 mins to board ship. OK facility.

This is a very busy port on Saturday and Sundays with many cruise ships disembarking and embarking passengers. Plan plenty of time as traffic does get backed up during the busiest of times. We felt the law enforcement did a great job of keeping things moving and keeping people safe. The staff in the terminals were friendly and helpful.

Port Everglades Parking Ship-side: The most convenient and expensive option

Here is a map of the cruise terminals and parking garages/lots at Port Everglades. For the latest updates, please study the online Google Map above!

Port Everglades Terminals and Parking Map (Midport = Palm, Northport = Heron)

Officially the parking garages open at 10:30 am for entry. In reality, you can arrive earlier but on busy days the attendants may direct you to wait elsewhere.  And if you arrive too early then you have to deal with vehicles slowly departing the current cruise meaning you may not get a spot near the elevators (yet)!

  • You drive up to the cruise terminal, drop your family and/or luggage at the porters, then
  • Drive around to park your vehicle in a nearby undercover or open parking lot, and
  • Walk back to meet your family.

No hassles, no crowds, and no waiting on shuttle buses especially after your cruise when the family is tired and a bit grumpy!

TIP – Please know there are many signs and attendants ready to direct you when you arrive at the cruise terminal. DO NOT BE WORRIED about a thing! Just get yourself to the correct terminal and the attendants will show you where to drop your luggage, where to park, how to pay, etc .

This convenience is not cheap ($20 per day – you must include your departure and arrival days). Credit cards only. Attendants are available in case you need assistance.

3 NIGHT CRUISE – $80 4 NIGHT CRUISE – $100 5 NIGHT CRUISE – $120 6 NIGHT CRUISE – $140 7 NIGHT CRUISE – $160 8 NIGHT CRUISE – $180

Specific Terminal Notes:

Port Everglades has installed new, colorful, driver-friendly wayfinding signs in the parking garages, parking lots, and throughout the Port’s roadways.

The signs feature Florida wildlife and fauna with illustrations of a bright orange heron (bird) in the port’s Northport section, a green palm (plant)  in Midport, and a blue snook (fish) directing customers to Southport.

When you arrive at any of the three port entry checkpoints, an electronic information board displays your ship name and cruise terminal. Then you follow the signs to your terminal and parking garage or lot.

Cruise Parking at Port Everglades - Port Entrance

We suggest:

  • Use the 17th Street (Eisenhower Blvd) Entrance for Terminals 2 and 4
  • Use the Eller Drive Security Entrance for Terminals 18, 19, 21, 25, 29

Terminal 2 – Carnival

Secure, Covered Parking in the 1,818-space Heron Parking Garage. An air-conditioned, elevated passenger bridge with moving sidewalks connects Terminal 2 and the Heron Garage and can be accessed from the 5th floor of the Heron Garage or the elevators on the outside of Cruise Terminal 2.

In the image below, see how you drive into Terminal 2 to drop off your luggage and passengers (ground level). Then you drive out and keep left up the ramp and into the Heron parking garage. Try to park on level 5 so you can easily get to the passenger bridge!

Port Everglades Parking Off-site Near the Port – Shuttle bus services at a lower cost

There are only two viable commercial off-site Port Everglades parking options – Park by the Ports and Park N Go as shown below.  There are also a couple of booking agents – online companies that offer parking via discounted contracts with local hotels and parking partners.

Park Port Everglades Offsite Map

If you drive up on the day of your cruise looking for discounted parking, off-site parking will save you money. You will use a shuttle bus to and from the cruise terminals – it is not as convenient as ship-side parking – but cheaper!

If you stayed at a hotel you will most likely park your vehicle at the hotel for the duration of your cruise. Generally speaking, the hotel security is not as good as the fenced & gated off-site parking facilities. So you have to consider more than just cost when comparing your parking options.

Booking Agents

When you search online for cruise parking at Port Everglades, you will see ads for several booking agents. These online agents don’t own parking lots (or transport vans in most cases). Instead, they have agreements with local hotels, parking facilities, and transport companies to sell parking spaces/transfers online – often at a discount to the consumer.

They change partners and rates quite often and it is hard to keep up with their parking options! Please visit their respective websites for the latest choices.

Typical hotels contracted close to the Port – Embassy Suites, Renaissance, Rodeway Inn, etc. There are many others but those are typically further away such as in Dania Beach near I-95.

How does it work? Typically (with exceptions – check your booking confirmation) – You will receive directions and phone numbers to call before arrival at the Parking Lots and after your cruise (wait in the shuttle area). These are on-demand services so be prepared to wait for drivers and/or representatives of the ground operators (Quick & Safe for example).

How safe is it to book parking with agents instead of booking directly with a parking facility? Agents come and go and change names and partners all the time. So it is impossible to generalize but you should be OK with established agents. Just know that you are not dealing directly with a parking facility/operator. Should something go wrong, you cannot address the problem in person at a parking facility. You must deal with an online agent who may be thousands of miles away from Fort Lauderdale! Here are two agents:

  • Rightway Parking – A nationwide agency with parking partners at many airports and cruise ports. At Port Everglades, they partner with hotels and shuttle companies (e.g. Quick & Safe, All Stars Transportation) – not with the two top parking operators. Daily rates vary considerably. See the locations on the Google MAP above.
  • Tropical Airport Parking – Partner with several hotels near Port Everglades, not with the two top parking operators. Daily rates vary considerably. You will probably use hotel shuttles and some of these cost EXTRA – please check carefully before booking.

Quick & Safe Parking

Cost Comparison

2024 rates. Always check the websites for the latest pricing because they change often. Book online for the best rates :

Ship-side parking  for 8 days, 7-night cruise –  $160

  • Park N Go . Cheaper to pay online instead of the gate = $93 for 8 days.
  • Park by the Ports . Best to book online = $94 for 8 days.

Generally speaking, the following rules apply when parking off-site:

  • Lots are secured behind a fence with security lights.
  • Port shuttles are generally free for up to 4 passengers. Extra charges apply to larger families.
  • Do not arrive before 9:30 am. The staff will be busy helping returning cruisers until then.
  • The first shuttle typically departs around 10:30 am to the ships. The last shuttle typically departs at 2:45 pm.
  • Unless valet parking is required, YOU drop YOUR passengers and luggage, then park the vehicle and walk back to the check-in point.
  • Shuttles run continuously every 15-45 minutes (depending on bookings and time of day).

Location considerations for off-site parking:

  • Park ‘N Go   – Close to the Eller Dr security checkpoint. Very easy to in and out once you figure out the directions! From I-595 east – Take the Port Everglades exit (the overpass). Make a 90-degree left at the McIntosh Rd intersection and drive 0.5 miles to the driveway on the RIGHT. (Just past the four-way traffic-light intersection). Very secure and certainly the most popular of the offsite parking operators.

Park 'N Go Entrance

  • Park by the Ports – Parking is in a back section part of the Casino parking lot in Dania Beach. The cheapest offsite option but much further away than Park N Go – about 5 miles, at least 15 minutes. While the Casino parking lot has surveillance, the vehicles are not parked behind gates. This operator offers a shuttle tracker online – a nice feature! No RV parking.

Park by the Ports Entrance

Port Everglades Parking At Hotels Near The Port

– Please look for an upcoming article about cheap hotel parking options –

We think you will find excellent parking deals at the hotels! You can expect daily parking rates starting around $6 including a return Port shuttle for at least 2 persons.

Many hotels near Port Everglades offer Park & Cruise packages with free (not really!) or discounted parking for the duration of your cruise. Park & Cruise Packages cannot be used with other discounts and there are limitations such as holiday blackouts.

TIP – Do not worry about parking until much later in the booking process. First, book the perfect hotel for your family, then start to think about your parking options.

For example, if you have young kids who like pools then pick a hotel with a fun pool design. If you want to watch the cruise ships come and go then pick another. Or do you want to overlook the ocean and beach, or just hope to stay as cheap as possible anywhere within 30 minutes or so from the port?

So how do you know if you are getting a good hotel deal?

A] ask the following questions:.

– Is breakfast included? – Are airport transfers included? You may not need this service. – Is the Park & Cruise Package available for your stay and cruise dates? – Cruise terminal shuttle transfers should be included but usually only for 2 persons (adult or child). How much will it cost for others in your family? On average expect to pay between $5 and $10 extra per person EACH WAY! – If you do not book the package, how much is parking per day for the duration of your cruise? – How long is the shuttle drive to the cruise terminal and how often do the shuttles run? Many hotels offer only one free shuttle to the cruise terminal per day – around 10:30 am – and a few return shuttles from the ships at specified times.

B] Use hotel booking sites to find the best rates for your hotel for your travel dates.

This will give you a good idea of the discounted room rate. Then you have to add the parking costs and shuttle costs to compare packages and deals.

Driving Directions to Port Canaveral – All The Details

If you live on Florida’s Space Coast, driving to Port Canaveral is simple. It’s in your backyard. Geographically, Port Canaveral is located right in the middle of Florida, on the east coast. Port Canaveral is an easy drive from any direction.

Maybe you’re driving to Port Canaveral from Atlanta, Georgia or Raleigh, NC. Or from Tampa or Orlando. When you finally drive into Brevard County, that’s where highway signage gets a little tricky.

Let me try to help you drive to Port Canaveral and the surrounding Cape Canaveral area.

Cruising from Port Canaveral, especially for new cruisers, can be confusing because most cruise booking sites advertise “Cruises from Orlando”. In fact, Orlando is 60 miles due west of the port. If you fly to Orlando for your cruise and rent a car, you need driving directions to the port.

View of ships from Port Canaveral Exploration Tower

Driving Directions to Port Canaveral

In This Post...

Several roads lead to Port Canaveral. They are State Road 528, known as the Beachline Expressway, S.R. 520 and S.R. 50, all running east and west. The state roads also connect with Highway 1, the Florida Turnpike, Interstate 95, and Interstate 4.

From the North or South on Interstate 95

Watch for Exit #205, Beachline Expressway (S.R 528 East) and drive east for approximately 12 miles toward Port Canaveral. Follow signs to either Cruise Terminals A (the North Terminal) or if your ship is docked at one of the B Terminals, continue a little further east on 528. Both Terminal exits will be from the right-hand lane. The new Carnival Terminal 3 is located within Terminal B complex and at very end of the Terminal.

Driving to Port Canaveral from Tampa

Take I-4 East and exit at the Beach Line Expressway (S.R. 528 East). Continue east toward Port Canaveral. Follow signs to either A Terminals (the North Terminal) or if you ship is at B Terminals (including the new Carnival Terminal) continue a little further on 528.

Port Canaveral from Orlando International Airport – MCO

Allow about an hour east-bound drive to Port Canaveral. From the airport, be sure to take the North Exit and stay to the right. Follow the signs for S.R. 528 East – the Beachline Expressway. S.R. 528 runs straight towards Port Canaveral.

Melbourne International Airport – MLB

This is a wonderful local airport. It’s located about 25 miles south of Port Canaveral. Turn left when you exit the airport onto NASA Boulevard and keep going to U.S. Highway 1. At Highway 1, turn left and go north.

About 25 minutes later, after driving through Rockledge and past the intersection of S.R. 520 in Cocoa, watch for signs for State Road 528, the Beachline. Veer right onto 528 and continue east for approximately 10 miles. You’ll go over bridges for the Indian River, Merritt Island and the Banana River.

In the distance on your left, you’ll start to see cruise ship funnels slowly come into view.

Sanford International Airport – SFB

This airport is about 1 hour northwest of Port Canaveral. When you leave the airport, head south to Toll Road 417, the Central Florida Greenway. Continue south for about 23 miles until you reach S.R. 528, the BeachLine and take the eastbound exit. It’s easy to miss this one-lane turnoff. Continue on the Beach Line for 37 miles until you reach Port Canaveral.

Parking for Royal Caribbean at Port Canaveral

What to Do When You Arrive at Port Canaveral

The port authority suggests that you directly drive to your cruise ship Terminal and drop off passengers and luggage. Porters are available to help you with your baggage and attached missing bag tags if you forgot yours at home. Drivers will be directed to the adjacent parking structure.

Port Canaveral parking facilities are easy to use and are patrolled 24 hours a day.

Leaving Port Canaveral

Cruisers have two choices on departure day. You can make your way to your vehicle and then circle back to pick up your travel companions and luggage right in front of the Terminal entrance.

Or, you can simply stroll with your luggage to your vehicle, load up and leave. If you opt for early walk-off, this is the speediest way to start your drive home.

Parking at Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral does not offer pre-paid parking. You’ll pay to park at your cruise ship designated parking area. All parking lots are secure and patrolled 24-hours/day. Parking is close to the terminal and only a short walk on even pavement to the entrance.

There is also parking for RVs at each terminal. You can drop off passengers and luggage in front of the terminal and then go park your car. And the same for pick-up after your cruise.

Parking Cost at the Port

Parking is $17.00 per day for all vehicles, including day of arrival until departure. A seven-night cruise will cost you nearly $140 to park at the port.

Note that rates are subject to change. You may only pay with American Express, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards. Cash is not accepted.

Disabled Parking Spaces

Disabled parking spaces are available at your adjacent cruise terminal facility. According to the Port Canaveral website , your parking fee will be waived if the vehicle transporting a person with disabilities includes:

  • Ramps, lifts or hand and foot controls for the disabled person
  • Displays a Florida Toll Exemption Permit
  • Displays a Florida Disabled Veteran license plate issued under s. 320.084; s. 320.0842; or s. 320.0845, Florida Statutes

Off-Site Parking for Port Canaveral

Off-site (not at the port) parking is available for Port Canaveral. At this time, there are several off-site parking lots that are close to the port, provide round-trip shuttle service and cost quite a bit less than if you park at Port Canaveral.

Please be sure to investigate these off-site facilities before making your decision. We’re only mentioning these places for your convenience in helping to choose on-site at the port or an off-site lot.

Hi Liz, I like that idea that you’re thinking to stay over here on the Space Coast rather than the Orlando Airport. There’s Courtyard by Marriott Cocoa Beach that gets good reviews. And they’re on the beach so that’s a plus, and only a 10-minute ride to the port. There are a couple of newer places to stay just a little further north on A1A – Homewood Suites and Residence Inn. I’m not endorsing any hotels. I think that the closer to the port, the better. And since I’m not familiar with the non-namebrand hotels, I’m sticking with brands I know. If you stay in Cocoa Beach, do take a walk onto the pier. It’s not fancy but provides a great view. Have fun! Sherry

Thank you for your articles. Always helpful! Do you have any suggestions as to Port Canaveral hotels? We have stayed at the Orlando Airport Hyatt, but was hoping to do something different and closer to port next time.

Port Everglades Terminal 29 On Site Parking

Cool Cruiser

I have searched several times & having trouble finding the answer to my question.  We have a cruise set to depart from Terminal 29.  It seems this is an auxiliary terminal not regularly used.  Most of the advice on this board recommends off site parking for this terminal. I have 2 questions:

1) If I want to park onsite, am I able to drop off my party & luggage at T29?

2) Then if I go park am I allowed to walk to the terminal or am I forced to use the parking shuttle?  I recognize it might be a long walk; I'm fine w that.  But I would prefer to walk vs be packed in a shuttle.

I checked Port Everglades' official website ( https://www.porteverglades.net/cruise/parking/ ). A caution about walking - Port Everglades is a also a cargo port and not conducive to walking.  Google a map of the port.  The satellite version will give you an idea of where/if there are sidewalks.

In my humble opinion,  I recommend Park n' Go FLL for parking.  I tried parking at Port Everglades once and it's a long walk from any of the parking structures to any of the terminals.   Park n' Go costs less (especially if you pay online with your booking) and the service is outstanding!

I would add to the the Park n Go recommendation that dropping folks at the terminal is a non issue because PNG uses small shuttles that will transport everyone in your party and their luggage....dropping everyone at the correct terminal.

That's what I read as well.  I do realize it is a working port (I spend a fair amount of timing working in them).  I was just curious if anyone had any experience with walking it.

Thanks for the feedback.  As mentioned above, I need to park onsite.

Please be careful generalizing from one experience. Parking garage for terminal one (mostly Royal Caribbean) is super convenient.  That garage sits atop the terminal’s passenger drop off zone, so it is just an elevator ride to reach the terminal door.  I realize T1 convenience does not help Team Stag, it will apply to others.

Though we often chose off site parking to save money in the past, we plan to use T1 parking to avoid shuttle next month.

While I'm don't think that terminal 1 is Royal Caribbean (pre-covid it was used by the fast ship to the Bahamas), I concur that the parking garages and surface lots are very close to the cruise line piers with the exception of terminal 29.  Terminal 2 (Princess) is actually connected via an air conditioned ramp with moving walkways to the updated Heron parking garage and Terminal 4 is right next door.  https://www.porteverglades.net/articles/post/port-everglades-new-heron-garage-touts-solar-power-moving-walkway/ and https://www.porteverglades.net/cruise/parking/

I've most often (pre-covid) seen Royal Caribbean sailing out of terminal 19 that has an adjacent surface parking lot and is a short walk to the Palm Parking garage.  I'm mot sure if they are now sailing out of terminal 25 (newest terminal) that is across the street from the Palm Parking garage.

When I have sailed from Terminal 29, I dropped my traveling companion and our luggage off at the terminal and then went to the Mid-Port Parking Garage to park my car.  A shuttle, that was not crowded, was waiting for me to take me to the Terminal.

The picture (from www.porteverglades.net) in post #2 is the former Mid-Port Parking Garage now renamed the Palm Parking Garage.

The North Port parking garage is now the Heron Garage  This is from the port's website:

Heron Garage

This article about the Heron garage is very interesting :  http://www.latecruisenews.com/2021/10/15/port-everglades-new-heron-garage-touts-solar-power-moving-walkway/

Some of the highlights:

Guests going to Terminal 2, Princess Cruises’ prototype Ocean Medallion terminal, will travel along an air-conditioned elevated bridge with moving walkways and a large atrium with a scenic overview of the port where they can stop off and take a selfie.

Guests arriving to Terminal 4 will park in the garage and walk directly into the facility.

The Port has also commissioned a 70-foot-tall 3D-optical illusion mural of a Florida Great White Heron that will be painted at the corner of the garage facing the roadway.

Thanks

Transportation to Cruise Terminal: Best Ways to Get to Your Ship preview image

Planning your cruise terminal transportation for an upcoming vacation? Travelers have a variety of options from cruise shuttle services, public transportation, hotel buses, to ride-sharing apps and more. Read on to find the one that best suits your pre-cruise needs.

On This Page:

Cruise port shuttle (airport to cruise ship), hotel shuttles, taxis vs ride sharing, group transportation & private car service.

Safety tips and travel advisories.

Among your choices for transportation, cruise shuttle services stand out for their convenience and reliability. Many lines offer a dedicated airport shuttle to cruise port service that you can book on their website or cruise app.

Often, you can simply add cruise shuttles to your package and the cruise line takes care of the rest. Some lines may also have partnerships with local transportation providers, allowing you to book cruise ship shuttles directly.

Booking these cruise shuttles often requires a simple addition to your cruise package, and it's wise to check the options available through your cruise line's website or customer service. Many lines provide useful tools like cruise apps and websites, and some lines have partnerships with local transportation providers and will let you book cruise ship shuttles directly.

If you’re staying at a hotel near cruise port locations, you may have access to “cruise bus” services that will take you directly to your ship. Using the hotel’s shuttle to cruise ship service not only makes embarkation day easier but also lets you see more of the city you're leaving from. When booking your hotel, ask about their shuttle service to cruise terminal locations, including any associated fees or scheduling requirements. Opting for a hotel shuttle can streamline your port transportation needs, letting you focus on the excitement of your upcoming sailing.

Smartphone screen with a selection of ride-sharing apps, including Lyft and Uber, convenient for transportation to cruise terminals.

Deciding between taking a taxi and booking a car service to cruise terminal locations can be tough. Consider important factors such as cost, availability, and personal preference to make the right choice. In a large port city, taxi rides may be your best bet because of their set prices and easy access. However, ride-sharing apps can be more convenient for cruise transportation, allowing you to select your car, arrival time, and pick-up spot.

The size of your group is also an important consideration for your cruise port transportation. For solo travelers or couples, taking a Lyft or Uber from the airport to cruise port is suitable, especially in cities where ride-sharing is prevalent. But travel groups with over 6 people will find taxis more convenient, as they remove the wait for the right-sized ride.

Group travel can make cruise transfers more difficult, but it can also open doors for fun shared experiences. Charter buses, large passenger vans, and even group rates for shuttle services can offer efficient and cost-effective transportation for your party. When planning a group cruise, booking early is crucial to secure the best options and rates, ensuring that your group arrives together and is ready to begin your cruise adventure.

Booking a private limousine or car service can add a touch of luxury to your trip, well make it more convenient for group travelers. Private services offer unique advantages as well, such as access to exclusive entrances at certain air and sea ports.

Drive Yourself: Cars, Bikes & Motorcycles

Motorcyclist and cars on a bustling city street at sunset, representing self-drive options for cruise terminal transportation.

If you're driving to the cruise terminal, it's important to know about hotel and cruise parking options and how much they cost. Most cruise ports offer dedicated parking areas, with prices varying by proximity to the terminal and length of stay. For secure and worry-free vehicle parking, choose official cruise port parking that has clear prices and security. Tips for saving on these fees include researching off-site parking options with shuttle service to the terminal, which can offer significant discounts.

Many Cruise terminals also support eco-friendly travel by offering special parking for bikes and motorcycles. If you're driving an electric vehicle, check out our list of ports with EV charging stations.

Interior view of a city bus with bright yellow grab bars, providing public transportation to the cruise terminal.

If you’re an adventurous traveler, taking public transportation to cruise ship ports is an efficient way to soak in the city’s people and rhythm. A train, tram or bus to cruise terminal locations also provides a direct, wallet-friendly route in many big cities. In your port city, airport transit may also be available, allowing seamless travel from the airport to your cruise ship.

However, you may prefer other choices from our list for cruise port transfers if you’re traveling with heavy luggage or in a large group.

In European cities, where public transport is known for its efficiency, using buses, trains, or trams can make getting from the airport or your hotel to the cruise terminal smooth and easy.

Planning is key: research your route in advance and always allow time for the unexpected. Download local public transportation apps to find routes, the latest schedules, and ticket costs for the smoothest ride.

Stay informed about safety tips and travel advisories while planning your cruise terminal transfer. Check for travel warnings or advisories for your port and destination, especially if you’re navigating unfamiliar cities. Get familiar with local emergency numbers and your country’s embassy or consulate location if you’re traveling internationally.

While traveling, be sure to keep your belongings secure and in sight, especially in crowded areas. If you use a transportation provider, opt for a reputable company. Be wary of unsolicited offers from taxi or private drivers who may not follow best practices.

Port Everglades Welcomes New Lines, New Ships and a New Terminal

BROWARD COUNTY, FL  - Port Everglades is kicking off the 2023-2024 cruise season by welcoming new cruise lines and ships, and establishing itself as a new homeport for Disney Cruise Line.

“We could very well top our 4 million passenger record, although our ‘official’ projected number is conservatively estimated at some 3.7 million embarking and disembarking guests,” said Port Everglades CEO and Port Director Jonathan Daniels. “As a trend, we are seeing more luxury ships such as Viking and Ritz-Carlton, and shorter itineraries from Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Disney.”

So far this season, which started in October, Port Everglades has welcomed first calls from Viking’s expedition ships Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris , Viking Mars , as well as Phoenix Reisen’s Artania .

Disney Cruise Line is bringing its magic to Port Everglades. Beginning November 20, 2023, the Disney Dream will homeport year-round in a specially designed cruise terminal dedicated for Disney Cruise Line guests. The partnership with Disney includes a 15-year agreement with one ship to be homeported in Port Everglades year-round and joined by a second, seasonal ship, to be announced, in 2025. The agreement supports an estimated 1,111 direct local jobs generating $31.6 million in wages and $12.3 million in state and local taxes over the 15-year term, according to a study by nationally recognized maritime research company Martin Associates. Adding Port Everglades as a second homeport gives Disney a dedicated terminal in a market with direct highway access and one of the nation's fastest growing airports, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Ascent debuts at Port Everglades with two 3- and 4-night preview sailings in November 2023 before being named at Port Everglades on December 1, 2023, and embarking on her inaugural Caribbean season with alternating 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. Celebrity Ascent is the fourth ship in Celebrity’s Edge Series class, and one of seven Celebrity ships to sail from Port Everglades this season.

Silver Nova , the latest luxury ship in the voyage collection for Silversea Cruises, will be named at Port Everglades on January 4, 2024. This will be the first ship to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its main fuel at Port Everglades.

Royal Caribbean International’s Oasis-class Symphony of the Seas will shift to Port Everglades after returning from Europe in November 2023 and will sail alternating 6- and 8-night cruises to the Caribbean.

Luxury cruise line Azamara joins the Port Everglades fleet for the first time with the arrival of the Azamara Onward on November 30, 2023. Azamara Onward will finish the 2024 season at Port Everglades with an inaugural 155-night World Voyage departing January 5, 2024, visiting over 40 countries with 22 overnight stays and 27 late nights in port.

Port Everglades is also looking forward to having a busier than usual summer 2024 with five cruise ships including Celebrity Beyond (7-days), Celebrity Reflection (3- and 4-days) , Disney Magic (3-, 4- and 5-days), Enchanted Princess (7-days), and Freedom of the Seas (7 days).

Further on the horizon for 2024, Princess Cruises will homeport the brand-new evolutionary Sun Princess at Port Everglades beginning in October 2024. Sun Princess , the first in the line’s new Sphere class, will be Princess Cruises’ first LNG-fueled ship and its largest, accommodating more than 4,000 guests.

The newly rebranded luxury line Crystal recently announced that it will move from Miami and begin homeporting from Port Everglades in November 2024, with the completely refurbished Crystal Serenity .

Looking further into the future and expanding its commitment to initiating environmental initiatives, Port Everglades has completed a study to add shore power to the port's eight cruise terminals, which will allow cruise ships to use electricity while idling in port instead of burning fuel. The study was performed by Moffatt & Nichol, a global infrastructure advisory firm working in cooperation with Florida Power & Light (FPL), Carnival Corporation, Disney Cruise Line and the Royal Caribbean Group. The recommended plan is capable of delivering up to 16 megawatts of electricity simultaneously to each of the eight terminals in accordance with IEC/IEEE 80005 standards. The projected cost for the project, including the estimates for FPL supply and distribution system upgrades, is approximately $20 million per cruise terminal, for a total cost of $160 million. The project is expected to be financed through federal and state grant funds, contributions from FPL, the participating cruise lines, and Broward County. Implementation will occur in phases. The earliest construction could occur is mid-2024 with all phases completed by the end of 2027.

Airports near the cruise port of Seattle

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is located 14 miles from the Bell Street Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 (a 30-minute drive, traffic-depending) and 17.4 miles from the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91 (a 35-minute drive).

SEA is the largest airport in the Seattle metro area and is served by Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines.

Seattle Paine Field International Airport (PAE) in Everett is 24 miles from the Bell Street Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 (40 minutes, depending on traffic) and 25 miles from the Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91 (42 minutes).

The airport has only two gates, and Alaska Airlines is the only operator. Most of the cities served are clustered in the west. You'll find flights to and from destinations such as Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Honolulu.

If you're flying with a plus one, you might be able to save on airfare with a companion pass. Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card holders receive a companion fare certificate on their card's anniversary, entitling them to a companion ticket on Alaska Airlines for just $99, plus taxes and fees from $23 (as long as they spend a minimum of $6,000 annually on the card).

For those flying into SEA, the Southwest Companion Pass entitles a companion to accompany you on unlimited Southwest Airlines for just the price of taxes and fees. The Southwest Companion Pass is earned through flying on the airline, eligible spending on a Southwest cobranded credit card or a combination of both.

Delta also offers a companion ticket as a perk for holders of select credit cards .

If you're carrying a credit card with lounge access, Seattle-Tacoma is the better bet with 10 lounges. Seattle Paine Field has none.

SEA's options include three Alaska Airlines lounges (which are also open to American Airlines Admirals Club members) and a United Club, Delta Sky Club and British Airways Terrace Lounge. In addition to the airline lounges, the American Express Centurion Lounge welcomes holders of select credit cards, including The Platinum Card® from American Express and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card .

How to get to the Port of Seattle

cruise terminal 29

There are several ways to get from the airports to the Bell Street Terminal at Pier 66 or Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91, including:

Cruise line transfers

Most cruise lines offer transportation to and from SEA or local hotels for an added cost. Sometimes, the service is reserved for cruisers who purchase flights through the cruise line. For example, Carnival Cruise Line advertises shuttles starting at $37.99 per person from SEA to the cruise port for passengers arriving by noon on embarkation day.

At this time, no cruise lines offer transfers to/from PAE.

Hotel shuttle services

If you're looking for hotels near the Seattle cruise port with a shuttle to the cruise terminals, you'll find several downtown. Most charge $10-$20 per person for the service.

If you're on a mission to earn more Marriott Bonvoy points, the SpringHill Suites Seattle Downtown/South Lake Union offers a package including an upgraded suite, complimentary breakfast and transportation for two to the cruise terminals. If you're loyal to the Hilton Honors program, the Embassy Suites by Hilton Seattle Tacoma International Airport contracts shuttle service to the cruise ports for $27 per person each way or $50 round-trip.

Independent airport shuttle services

Companies like Premier Airport Shuttle offer shared or private transportation from SEA to the cruise terminals. Shared shuttle service starts at about $33 per person in each direction, while private transfers for up to 20 passengers start at about $320.

Taxis and ride-hailing services

Ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft can be summoned from either airport. This is another opportunity to maximize your credit card benefits since the Chase Sapphire Reserve® offers 10 points for every dollar spent on Lyft rides (through March 31, 2025) and the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card includes perks like unlimited 10% cash back with Uber (through Nov. 14, 2024).

Uber and Lyft prices are highly dynamic, but you can expect to pay $70 for each direction to and from SEA, or $100 to and from PAE.

Taxis aren't readily available at PAE, but you'll find them on the third floor of the SEA parking garage adjacent to the ride-hail pickup area. Flat-rate taxis charge $40 to carry passengers from the airport to the hotel district. Flat rates aren't in effect to the cruise terminals. Metered rates in Seattle are $2.60 for the meter drop plus $2.70 a mile. (The 17-mile trip from SEA to Pier 91 should run $48.50 in a metered cab, but extra passengers, alternative routing and other considerations can raise the rates.)

Private car or van service

Private cars or vans can be scheduled to or from either airport. Options include Blacklane , with prices starting at about $108 in each direction from SEA to the cruise ports (including pick up in a luxury vehicle and a meet and greet at baggage claim). The same service to or from PAE starts at about $130 in each direction.

Public transportation

Unfortunately, public transit doesn't reach the cruise terminals, but Light Rail provides transportation from SEA to West Lake Station in downtown Seattle. From there, it's usually an 8- to 15-minute Lyft or Uber ride to the cruise terminals. One-way tickets are $2.25-$3.25 per person and trains depart every 15 minutes.

To reach the light rail station at SEA, head to the fourth floor and cross the sky bridge into the parking garage. Next, follow the signs and painted pathway to the train. Shuttle service is available for passengers with disabilities from 5 a.m. until midnight. Call 206-787-4069 or 206-787-5906 to request service.

On-site parking

The Bell Street Cruise Terminal parking garage is right across from the cruise terminal. Enter from Wall Street and follow the signs to the parking area. Parking costs $23 per day, with a $1 per day discount if you prepay online.

The Bell Street parking garage offers more than 1,500 covered parking spots, including 25 accessible parking stalls, and can accommodate vehicles with a maximum clearance of 6 feet, 6 inches. Vehicles exceeding this height should park at Pier 91, and taxi vouchers will be provided to get you back and forth to Pier 66.

The Smith Cove Cruise Terminal Lot D parking lot at Pier 91 has 1,100 secure parking spots, including accessible stalls available on a first-come, first-served basis. General parking is $29 a day, with a $1-per-day discount if you prepay online.

In addition to serving passengers departing from Pier 91, Lot D is the parking lot for RV and oversized vehicles at both piers. Fees are $60 a day for vehicles less than 40 feet, and $65 per day for vehicles larger than 40 feet. RV parking isn't guaranteed unless reserved and prepaid online. If your cruise departs from the Bell Street Cruise Terminal, the cashier will issue taxi vouchers for your return.

Park-and-cruise packages

Depending on the length of your cruise, select Seattle hotels allow you to leave your car while you're at sea (although most charge a fee). Fans of the Accor Live Limitless loyalty program should consider the cruise package at the Hotel Andra Seattle. The package includes 50% off valet parking, complimentary parking during the cruise and a one-way shuttle service for two from the hotel to the cruise pier.

Hotels near the Seattle cruise port

cruise terminal 29

Seattle has an outstanding lineup of points hotels. The best redemption deals are usually found near Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. It's roughly a half-hour from the cruise terminals without traffic, but the trade-off might be worth it for some travelers.

Visitors planning to explore Seattle before or after a cruise should base themselves downtown for easy access to the waterfront, restaurants, shops, museums and attractions like Seattle Center and the Space Needle. As a bonus, many of the best Seattle hotels are a 5- to 15-minute drive from the cruise terminals.

Hilton hotels near Port of Seattle

Hilton Honors members are spoiled for choices in Seattle. The Hampton Inn Seattle-Airport is a great option for travelers looking for a quick place to catch some shut-eye the night before the cruise (34,000 to 50,000 Hilton Honors points per night). Amenities include a free hot breakfast and complimentary shuttle service to or from the airport.

For Hilton hotels closer to the cruise terminals, Hilton Seattle (50,000 to 70,000 Hilton Honors points per night) is only 1.4 miles from Pier 66. If you've got time to explore the city, the property is a mile from the 5th Avenue Theater, Pike Place Market and light rail.

For luxury travelers, Hotel 1000 LXR Hotels and Resorts (70,000-90,000 Hilton Honors points per night) is a gorgeous hotel with views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Even the bathrooms are a showstopper with glass walls (and privacy shades). Hotel 1000 is roughly a half-mile from Pike Place Market and the Seattle Aquarium and a short walk to dozens of restaurants. The hotel is 1.2 miles from Pier 66.

Marriott hotels near Port of Seattle

Keep your Marriott Bonvoy loyalty number handy because Marriott hotel brands are located throughout Seattle. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck at the Aloft Seattle Seatac Airport (22,000-40,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night), especially if you don't want to rent a car. Amenities include complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport and shuttle service to the cruise terminal for $20 per person. (Make arrangements at the front desk at check-in.)

If you plan to play tourist in the Emerald City, the Courtyard Seattle/Downtown Pioneer Square (30,000-54,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night) is in a historic building within walking distance of the Pike Place Market, stadium, art galleries and the waterfront. The hotel is 1.6 miles from Pier 66.

It's hard to beat the location of the Seattle Marriott Waterfront (50,000-84,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night). The hotel is right across from Pier 66, and passengers can walk to the terminal via crosswalk or sky bridge. This is a great option for families since you're steps away from top waterfront attractions like the Seattle Aquarium and the Seattle Great Wheel.

Hyatt hotels near Port of Seattle

Seattle is an excellent place to cash in those World of Hyatt points . The brand doesn't have any properties at the airport, but you'll find several excellent Hyatts downtown .

Hyatt Place Seattle Downtown (12,000-18,000 World of Hyatt points per night) is located near Climate Pledge Arena, the Seattle Center and the Space Needle. Complimentary breakfast is available in the morning. The hotel contracts shuttle service to the cruise terminals from a third party for $10 per person. Reservations need to be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Thompson Seattle (17,000-23,000 World of Hyatt points per night) is a stylish boutique in the heart of downtown. Famous for a rooftop bar with dazzling views of the city and Puget Sound, the Thompson is a short walk from Pike Place Market, the Seattle Art Museum, and dozens of shops and restaurants. The hotel is less than a mile from Pier 66.

Non-points hotels near Port of Seattle

Seattle is home to several hotels that aren't associated with traditional loyalty programs. The Four Seasons Hotel Seattle sits above the waterfront with an infinity pool with views of Puget Sound. The Four Seasons is a mile from Pier 66. Don't forget to book your room with a rewards card to maximize your stay.

Another solid option is the more affordably priced Ace Hotel Seattle, in the trendy Belltown neighborhood. Guests can choose accommodations with private or shared baths according to their needs and budget. The Ace Hotel is less than a half-mile from Pier 66.

Restaurants near the cruise port of Seattle

cruise terminal 29

Seattle is famous for seafood served at upscale restaurants, sushi counters and casual poke joints. Dungeness crab, salmon and oysters on the half-shell are staples all over the city, especially near the waterfront.

Head to Pike Place Market for a culinary tour of the city. In addition to vendors selling flowers and handmade crafts, you'll find bakeries, breweries, sit-down restaurants and quick eats like hot dogs or chowder. While you're there, don't miss the chance to watch fish being thrown to delighted customers at Pike Place Fish Market.

If you see a long line outside Pike Place Market, that's probably tourists waiting to place an order at the original Starbucks. If you are a huge fan of the chain, the wait might be worthwhile, but the coffee here is the same as in any Starbucks location. If you'd rather skip the line, head to Storyville Coffee on the top floor of the corner market building for an excellent cup of locally roasted coffee with stunning views of Puget Sound.

Things to do in Seattle before or after your cruise

cruise terminal 29

You can spend a lifetime visiting Seattle without running out of new experiences. Outdoor recreation, museums and kid-friendly attractions are available in equal abundance. If you've built in time to explore the Emerald City before or after your cruise, here are a few of the best things to do in Seattle.

Spend the day at Seattle Center

Seattle Center is home to iconic attractions like the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Museum of Pop Culture, and the Pacific Science Center. The grounds are especially rewarding for families, who will find the International Fountain splash park and the Artists at Play playground with a 30-foot tall climbing tower, labyrinth, musical instruments and an accessible carousel powered by humans.

Marvel at the Hiram M. Chittenden Ballard Locks

The locks are a wonder of engineering connecting Lake Union to Puget Sound. Every day, spectators gather along the sides to watch everything from kayaks to enormous commercial ships pass through the locks. Other points of interest here include a fish ladder, a colorful botanical garden and a visitor center.

Embrace Seattle coffee culture

The Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the Capital Hill neighborhood is like Disneyland for coffee lovers. Book a tour, schedule a class with a barista or sip on signature drinks you won't find anywhere else. The aromas alone make the visit worthwhile.

Explore the waterfront

Even if you do nothing more than gape at views of Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains, Seattle's waterfront is worth exploring. This is also the home of the Seattle Great Wheel, Seattle Aquarium and a host of unique souvenir shops. Afterward, make your way to Pike Place Market for a bite to eat.

Eat lunch in Seattle's Chinatown-International District

In Seattle's Chinatown-International District, seductive aromas waft from every doorframe. Dumplings, noodles and baked goods beckon from dozens of restaurants. Do yourself a favor and place small orders in multiple eateries, so you can sample as much as you can.

Shopping near the Port of Seattle

Whether you want to shop for souvenirs or add a few items to your cruise packing list , Seattle's got you covered.

For cruise essentials like toiletries and snacks, head to Target on 2nd Avenue near Pike Place Market. If you hold the Target Circle™ Mastercard , you'll get a discount on most purchases. If you forgot to pack your bathing suit or other clothing and can't find what you need at Target, Westlake Center on Pine Street has options galore from stores like Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off 5th.

You'll find unique souvenirs — including locally made foods, handmade jewelry and art — at Pike Place Market. If you're shopping with kids, head to the Old Curiosity Shop on the waterfront for everything from postcards and tee shirts to unique gifts like taxidermy bugs and totem poles. The store is filled with oddities like mummies, narwhal tusks and shrunken heads.

The information for the Target Circle has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.
