Buick Turbo Regal

** The listings in RED are events happening EVERY WEEK , same bat time, same bat channel! Be there or be square! C’mon, all the cool kids are doin’ it!

** Items in ORANGE are NATIONAL events! (not in MI events)

** items in PURPLE have been CANCELLED or are RESCHEDULED events !

We try to list only free shows to attend, but since we gather information from a wide variety of sources, there may be some car shows that have entrance fees / donations to participate (usually meaning to show your car, spectating is generally always free)

We try to the best of our ability to keep this information correct, but as with any car show or cruise, you should confirm on your own that the event is actually taking place on the day and in the location stated! We accept no responsibility for any errors in these listings. [we’ve been reusing this same list for a few years and some shows may NOT be being held at these locations any longer!]

Photos of these automobile events, from both past and present shows, can be seen from the “PICS HERE” links that are under the listed events! [ photos from current events are normally posted the DAY AFTER the show, or 2 days AFTER in some cases ]

** IF you discover a show listed below that is NO LONGER occurring, please send us a message !

OUR NEW AUTO EVENT RATING SYSTEM: 🏁 🏁 🏁 🏁 🏁

With so many car cruises & car shows here in Michigan, it’s hard to keep track if an event is actually worth attending or not (for us, it’s nothing against the specific venues mentioned, you might like them), especially if it’s been awhile since we’ve been to a specific spot. So this is (mainly for our own benefit) but you can use our system to possibly judge an event as well. Your mileage may vary. [usually based on average number of vehicles participating, driving distance to gathering, overall atmosphere, etc.]

🏁 🏁 🏁 🏁 🏁 = awesome all the time, don’t miss. 🏁 🏁 🏁 🏁 = pretty good, worth going multiple times. 🏁 🏁 🏁 = good, worth going a few times. 🏁 🏁 = if you live near it, probably good to check out a few times. 🏁 = if you live near it, probably ok to stop in at least once.

(no flags means we either haven’t been there yet, or we need to go again to make a determination) .

The Detroit Woodward Dream Cruise is the mothership of all car events. It's a celebration of Woodward Ave and car enthusiasm in the heart of the Motor City. I mean seriously, this incredible car cruise draws thousands of classic cars, muscle cars, trucks (and lots of crazy stuff ) to thunder down Woodward Avenue between Pontiac and Ferndale.

Chris and I can't wait to go this August !

AND...more than 1.5 million car enthusiasts from all over the world are revved up to see some spectacular (and crazy) vehicles!

See the World's Biggest Cruise!

When is the 2023 Woodward Dream Cruise?

August 19, 2023!

BUT ... several communities have fun events and classic car shows on August 18, 2023. See the event schedule below!

Woodward Dream Cruise Frequently Asked Questions

What day is the Woodward Dream Cruise 2023? August 19, 2023

Is the Woodward Dream Cruise free? Yes, the Dream Cruise is free to attend!

How long does the Woodward Dream Cruise last? The cruise is just one day!

  • Anyone not driving a classic/muscle car are asked to stay out of the two right lanes nearest to the curb.

What time is the Woodward Dream Cruise?  9 am to 9 pm.  BUT many people with show cars in the static car shows begin to leave parked shows (as they want to cruise) around 3:30 pm so I recommend hitting up the shows in the morning.

Are Their Bathrooms?   In the more populated areas, especially in Royal Oak, there are porta johns along Woodward Avenue.

Is it Safe To Attend?   As with any large city, don't leave your items unattended. Make sure your bags/purses are zipped and closed. There is a very large police presence at the show and we felt comfortable.  We recommend going as it is a great family event!

Is This Your First Time at the Woodward Dream Cruise?

If it’s your first time to the show , we recommend finding a spot somewhere between Royal Oak and Birmingham as this stretch gets the most traffic and excitement.

We recommend arriving early so you can find parking off Woodward Avenue before the side streets and lots are full.

We recommend bringing:

  • Ear plugs if you are noise sensitive (especially for young children)
  • Folding chairs with umbrellas
  • Water/non-alcoholic drinks
  • TP (in case the porta johns are out)

History of the Woodward Dream Cruise

Woodward Dream Cruise was dreamed up as a small fundraiser to raise money for a soccer field in Ferndale, Michigan. Then, in August 1995, a group of people wished to relive the fun of the 50's and 60's, when music and Motor City steel roared down Woodward Avenue.  Blowing away expectations, the event drew 250,000 people!

Now, the Woodward Dream Cruise is the World’s Largest One-Day Automotive Event!

The Cruise brings about 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars to the area each summer.

People travel from all over the world to attend and be in the show.  It's an incredible experience!

My friend Marcy highly recommends eating at Sylvan Table which we will try this year. It is a farm-to-table restaurant. The restaurant is in a few hundred year old barn they moved from the east coast and built a farm around it. Cool, huh!

  • Other restaurant ideas that come highly recommended from locals include the Latin restaurant Freya and The Apparatus Room.

Are There Bathrooms at the Woodward Dream Cruise?

There are lots of porta johns along Woodward Ave in the more populated areas. Memorial Park in Royal Oak has a large bank of porta johns for the classic car show.

Are There Food Trucks or Places to Eat at Woodward Dream Cruise?

Motown Bistro and food trucks lining Woodward Ave in Detroit

Absolutely! There are food trucks and vendors lining Woodward avenue in the more populated areas, especially Royal Oak and Ferndale. There are also lots of great restaurants along Woodward Avenue.

We enjoy eating at Brown Iron Brewhouse in Royal Oak .

  • Chris was eyeing the Brown Iron Burger with Wagyu Beef, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and a yummy caramelized onion spread but got the Slow Smoke BBQ Pork sandwich with yummy pickles!
  • I got the Cali salmon BLT with avocado crema...be sure to order extra crema, it's yummy!

The 27th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise Revving Up For The Largest Celebration Of Detroit Cars August 19, 2023

August 19, 2023.

Two Old Classic Cars Driving sis by side

(Update: July 17, 2023) — The 27th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise is North America’s largest automotive parade of classic cars.

The woodward cruise is the largest single car cruise in the country attracting over 1.5 million visitors, and over 40 thousand cars.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is a fascinating event with a rich history.

It all started when Pamela S. McCullough, Mayor, and Nelson House, a plumber from Ferndale, came up with the idea for the cruise in 1994 to help raise money for a children’s soccer field in his community.

They envisioned a small gathering of car enthusiasts, but the event quickly grew beyond his wildest dreams.

The inaugural woodward cruise took place in August 1995, and it was an instant hit. The original expectation was for 30,000 to 40,000 spectators, but the actual turnout was a whopping 250,000.

The Woodward Dream Cruise 2022

Starting in Pontiac and ending in Ferndale, The Woodward Dream Cruise 2023 will parade over forty thousand vintage Detroit muscle cars up and down Woodward Avenue, attracting over 1.5 million visitors.

Since then, the Woodward Cruise has grown exponentially. Today, it attracts over 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars each year, making it the world’s largest one-day automotive event.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is a celebration of Detroit’s automotive history and a testament to the enduring appeal of classic cars.

The event spans a 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue and includes nine communities from Ferndale to Pontiac. It’s not just about the cars, though. The Woodward Dream Cruise is a community event, with live music, street vendors, and family-friendly activities adding to the festive atmosphere.

Started in 1995, the 16-mile car parade cruises directly up and down Woodward Avenue, passing through the cities of Pontiac, Birmingham, Royal Oak, Bloomfield Township, Huntington Woods, Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Pleasant Ridge, and Berkley.

The Woodward Dream Cruise is a testament to the power of community and the enduring appeal of classic cars. It’s a celebration of Detroit’s rich automotive history and a chance for car enthusiasts from around the world to come together and share their passion.

Cruise in Shoes

The Woodward Dream Cruise is not just about classic cars; it also includes a unique event known as “Cruise in Shoes.” This event is a 5K run/walk that takes place on the morning of the Dream Cruise. It’s a chance for participants to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Cruise in a different way, on foot rather than from behind the wheel.

“Cruise in Shoes” kicks off at 7:30 AM, and the course takes participants down a stretch of Woodward Avenue, allowing them to experience the excitement of the Dream Cruise before the classic cars take over. It’s a family-friendly event, with participants of all ages and fitness levels welcome.

The event is professionally timed, and medals are awarded to the top finishers in each age group. But it’s not just about competition; it’s also about community. “Cruise in Shoes” is a chance to get out and enjoy the Dream Cruise atmosphere while also getting some exercise.

Whether you’re a serious runner looking for a unique race or a casual walker who wants to enjoy the Dream Cruise in a new way, “Cruise in Shoes” is a fun and exciting part of the Woodward Dream Cruise experience.

To participate in Cruise In Shoes, please pre-register online at www.CruiseinShoes.com/registration or sign-up on the day of the event at Royal Oak Shrine High School.

About Rotary

The Rotary Club of Coopersville was chartered on March 10, 1947. For more than 60 years, members of the club have provided service to the community in many ways. The very first project in 1947 was the lighting of the football field. Since then the Club has provided ball fields and parks, encouraged and funded youth activities, supported community groups, given scholarships, worked in classrooms and generally provided benefit to our community through the avenue of “Service above Self”. The club is very grateful to continue our giving by holding the annual Car Show and Summerfest. The proceeds from this event will continue to benefit the NEO Forum and several other local non profits in and around our community. (NEO Forum is the Northeast Ottawa County program to prevent drug and alcohol use and prevent violence by school age children. This program is a cooperative effort with the Coopersville Public Schools, the City of Coopersville and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.) In the last several years of this event – with many thanks to our sponsors, we have been able to give back over $100,000.

For more information call 616.916.2760 or email.

Proceeds from the Coopersville Car Show goes to the Neo Forum  and several other area non profit organizations.

Friday we arrived in St. Ignace about 11:00am and the weather was nice and sunny. We had to sign in to see where our spot was going to be to set up our canopy and tables. We got lucky and were right by the edge of the road where the cars were cruising. It was a bit breezy and we had a hard time keep the canopy from blowing away. This car show was not a good place for us to sell our products but, was just a flea market. Not what we expected. We did talk to many people that were camaro people and also some mustang people as well as they stop by to see what we had to sell. We made some contacts and we also passed out about 500 flyers for our car show in the cars that were parked for show. Many thanks to the help of one of our members Linda and Ron Kamper! that came to help us out. We did enjoy looking at everything and bought some things for us to install some more lighting. About 5pm we closed up for the day and we walked down the to the edge of town to see what the town had to offer. We grab a bite to eat and as we were starting to walked back and people were sitting on the edge of the road waiting for the parade to start at 7pm. We sat in front of our vendor spot and watched the parade which lasted about an hour and that ended the day for us. Saturday we found a spot to park our Camaro’s and cleaned them up for people to look at and also to be judged. We could’nt park by our vendor spot because we did’nt get there at 6am like everyone else did and there was already many cars there. Some of the cars left that were parked by our vendor spot on the main street and we moved our cars in those spots. There was about 650 cars that were parked down the street from the I75 all the way around the hook as the up pers call it. The juding was at 4pm and we knew we were not going to win but, just being there was enough for us. We seen a friend that was selling neon clocks and signs and license plate holders etc.. We that ended our day for Saturday and next year we will not be selling anything but, will be coming just to bring our Camaro’s. Until next year! Cheers!!!

Friday we arrived in St. Ignace about 3:00pm and the weather was nice and sunny. It was suppose to rain but it went south. We checked into our hotel that we were staying at. We then cruise downtown St. Ignace like everyone else was. We found B.C. Pizza and stop to get some pizza. The pizza was pretty good. As the day went on we sat by the road at our hotel and watched people doing burn-outs. Then they stopped because the car parade was going to start. It lasted for about 45mins and after that was all done they went back at it all night long doing burn-outs again. The weather was still warm and it cooled down a bit. The next day we the weather was going to be nice again and started to head down to where everyone was parking their cars and we found a great sport by everything. The person playing the music was putting us to sleep because he was playing music like Debbie Boone etc. You know what I mean. Later he started to play better music and as he was making announcements he was so monotone it was awful! We spoke to many people and we made some contacts and sold a few of our products. We also passed out about 800 flyers for our car show in the cars that were parked for show. We walked the whole street in the heat that day. We were asking the locals where was a good place to eat in town and everyone said that the mexican place Jose Cantina was very good. So we thought let’s try it. Well, we have been to many mexican restaurants before and this one was so awful! from the salsa and the food. Way too expensive for what we got. We ended walk-out with a $50 bill for me and my wife. The whole place is run by Asian people and not mexican people. No fenced to the Asian people but, we had a feeling that it was not going to be good. We then we back to our hotel and watched the fireworks. Until next year! Cheers!!!

‘Why You Hit Me Like This?’: Michigan State Trooper Drove Unmarked Vehicle Over Curb Striking and Killing Black Man, Charged with Murder

A white Michigan state trooper was charged with second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter this week for striking and killing a Black man with his SUV while pursuing him for a probation violation last month.

Michigan State Police Sgt. Brian Keely is facing up to life in prison for killing Samuel Sterling, a 25-year-old father of two who was known locally as a rap artist. The incident took place on April 17 while Keely was working with a federal U.S. Marshals Service task force along with several other officers from different agencies.

Sterling, who was pumping air into his tires at a gas station when he was confronted by police, took off running on foot, prompting Keely to pursue him in his unmarked SUV along with several other officers on foot and in their patrol cars.

Michigan State Trooper Drove Unmarked Vehicle Over Curb to Hit and Killed Black Man, Charged with Murder

A security video from a local Burger King shows Sterling was running on a sidewalk when Keely drove his vehicle over the curb and struck him, pinning him between the SUV and the wall of the fast food restaurant. He was pronounced dead hours later at a local hospital.

“I’ve got no gun,” said Sterling , who was crying out in pain, according to body camera footage released a month after the incident. “Why you hit me like this?”

Sterling was asked to put his hands behind his back before the officers realized he was in severe anguish. His hands were cuffed in front of his body instead.

Several officers held Sterling down while one officer placed a knee in his back for about 10 seconds. The officers told Sterling, who was unarmed, to not to reach for anything.

EMT arrived on the scene within 5 minutes. “Did the car bump into the building or did he actually get pinned between the vehicle and the building?” one asked.

“Both,” the officer responded.

When an EMT asked Sterling for his first name, he replied with his last name.

“I can’t even think,” Sterling said in agony. “Bro, please help me. Please help me.”

Realizing that their suspect if fully incapacitated, the officers change their tone.

“They’re coming. Just relax,” one officer said. “Just catch your breath.”

“Just breathe. Don’t move, man,” another officer said. “…We don’t want you moving your back.”

The initial footage from Burger King was released last month by attorneys representing Sterling’s family, who include Ben Crump, a nationally renowned attorney who has represented the families of many Black men killed by police in high-profile incidents over the years.

Michigan State Police released 15 minutes of footage weeks later, consisting of bodycam and dashcam videos from the officers present—none of which give a clear view of the incident or come from Keely or his patrol car.

Police say in a media release that Keely was not wearing a body camera “due to his assignment on a federal task force,” but the U.S. Marshals Service has implemented policies requiring all officers working on task forces to use body cameras while serving warrants and arresting fugitives.

H owever, the federal policy, which began in 2020, has been implemented slowly in regional phases over the last several years and does not go into effect in Michigan until the second quarter of 2025, according to the U.S. Marshals Service website.

However, Michigan State Police have also implemented policies requiring officers to wear body cameras as well as patrol cars to be outfitted with dash cameras, and those policies went into effect on March 14, 2024, a month before the incident.

Nevertheless, the existing footage provided enough evidence for the Michigan Attorney General to file charges against Keely, 50, a 25-year police officer.

“Detective Sergeant Keely’s actions that day were legally, grossly negligent and created a very high risk of death or great bodily harm, which could have otherwise been prevented,” according to a statement issued by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel on Tuesday when she announced the charges to the media.

More than two weeks before the charges were announced, two former longtime police chiefs and police training consultants reviewed the footage from Burger King at the request of a local television news station and determined the officer violated the law.

“No matter what the trooper said he was doing and why his vehicle jumped up over the curb onto the sidewalk and struck the suspect, it’s still going to be a criminal matter. It’s an involuntary homicide at the very least,” Roy G. Taylor told Wood-TV last month.

“Sterling was not posing a threat of serious bodily harm or death to anyone at the time of the incident, so there was not an immediate need for his apprehension and the use of a vehicle to chase down a fleeing suspect on foot was not a reasonable action,” added Melvin L. Tucker.

The second-degree murder charge is punishable by up to life in prison if convicted, but sentencing will be up to the judge, who has wide discretion as to what he would serve, according to Michigan law.

Sterling’s warrants stemmed from previous arrests for being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, according to local media sources who reviewed his records. He violated probation by possessing marijuana and leaving the state without permission from his probation officer.

Sterling’s mother, Andrica Cage, said she cried with happiness when learning of the charges, but it still does not ease the pain of losing her son.

“It’s never going to be relief to me,” she told Michigan Live. “With my son gone, I haven’t been right since. That’s a pain I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemies.”
