blink-182 is reaching deep into their catalog on 'One More Time… tour'

Blink-182’s North American leg of its One More Time… tour is officially in full swing after kicking things off last week in Orlando, Florida.

Listen to blink-182 Radio and more on the free Audacy app

After Orlando, the pop-punk trio then made their way to Miami the following night before heading to Texas to continue their trek this week. From there, band members Mark Hoppus , Tom DeLonge , and Travis Barker will travel to the western half of the states before touring the eastern half in late July. The North American leg of the tour will conclude in Toronto, but the fun doesn’t stop there because the band is still scheduled to perform at a number of other music festivals, including Lollapalooza , this year.

blink-182 's One More Time… tour is in celebration of the band's ninth studio album of the same name, which was released in October of 2023.

Looking closely at the first two night's sets, fans are certainly in for a treat. Attendees of Thursday’s show in Orlando not only got to hear the new single "Can't Go Back," the band also played their 2003 song “Obvious,” which marked the first time blink-182 performed the track with DeLonge since 2013, after DeLonge left the group in 2014, and Alkaline Trio ’s Matt Skiba filled in during his absence. Tom rejoined blink-182 in 2022 and has remained with the band ever since.

While concertgoers in Miami on Friday didn’t get the chance to hear “Obvious,” they did receive a treat that Orlando attendees didn’t. blink-182 played another 2003 release, “Easy Target,” which the band also hadn’t performed with DeLonge since the year he left the group.

Another difference between the Orlando and Miami shows occurred during the 11th song in the setlist. In Orlando, blink-182 played “M+M’s” and in Miami, the trio played “Carousel.” blink-182 also chose to break into some covers... playing a bit of TLC ’s “No Scrubs” during their performance of “Dammit” in Orlando, but in Miami, the band included a snippet of Taylor Swift ’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” during “Dammit.”

These variations suggest that each date of the One More Time… tour will be unique, but both shows featured heavy hitters, including “I Miss You” and “All the Small Things,” so it’s safe to say that fans in every stop along the tour can expect to sing their hearts out to those two favorites.

Fans can also expect to see new visual aspects on this tour, such as a 360-degree stage , but the stage isn’t the only new component. blink-182 premiered an unreleased song, titled “Can’t Go Back” in Orlando and brought it to Miami as well.

Despite the trials, tribulations, and tragedies that have plagued blink-182 since its inception more than 30 years ago, the band is astoundingly operating at full force, making a ticket to one of these upcoming North American shows one of the hottest of the summer. Grab yours now!

Blink-182 is an American pop punk rock band from San Diego, California in 1992. The group has consisted of Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, Travis Barker and Scott Raynor. The group has sold over 35 million albums worldwide.

Rising from the ashes of former band ‘Before Today’, brothers Mike and Vic Fuentes formed Pierce The Veil and have reached heights they never would have thought possible.

Blink-182 Can’t Stop Touring: Band Details Summer 2024 Shows

By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Blink-182 will keep the big reunion party going into next year, announcing another massive North American tour for summer 2024.

The run will kick off June 20 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, with dates scheduled through Aug. 15 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Blink-182 will primarily play arenas during the run, though there will be a few special stadium gigs in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Toronto, and the band’s hometown of San Diego. Pierce the Veil will provide support throughout the tour, while Alexisonfire will join the bill just for the final gig in Toronto.

Tickets for all shows will go on sale Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. local time. Full info is available on Blink-182’s website .

Along with the reunion tour, Blink-182 released a new album, One More Time , last Friday, Oct. 20. The LP marks the first from Hoppus, DeLonge, and Barker since 2011’s Neighborhoods . After DeLonge left the group in 2015, he was replaced by Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba, who appeared on two albums, 2016’s California and 2019’s Nine .

In a recent interview with Zane Lowe , Hoppus and DeLonge opened up about their acrimonious 2015 splits with both admitting they weren’t sure they’d ever play together again. That changed after Hoppus was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 — a traumatic but clarifying event not unlike the 2008 plane crash that nearly killed Barker.

Why Is Everybody Talking About the Hawk Tuah Girl?

After a near-fatal crash, xavi is seizing this moment, tana mongeau opens up about alleged underage hookup with youtuber cody ko, shifty shellshock, frontman of crazy town, dead at 49, editor’s picks, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Blink-182 have kicked off their 2024 North American tour last night (June 20) and debuted a new song along with their classic deep cuts.

  • READ MORE:  Blink-182 – ‘One More Time’ review: a surprisingly touching reunion

The band – comprised of the original line-up Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker – took over the Kia Center in Orlando Flordia last night to kick off their 2024 ‘One More Time’ tour.

Comprised of 26 tracks, the night’s setlist included deep cuts such as ‘Obvious’ and  ‘M+M’s’ which were played with Delonge for the first time since 2013. They also performed ‘When Your Heart Stops Beating’ and ‘There Is’ which are tracks from their side-projects +44 and Box Car Racer respectively. The performance of those two songs marked the first time the band has played songs from either side project during a Blink-182 set.

They also took the time to debut a brand-new song titled ‘Can’t Go Back’. To wrap up the show, Delonge and co performed ‘What’s My Age Again?’, ‘First Date’, ‘All the Small Things’, ‘Dammit’, and their recent chart-topper, ‘One More Time’ back to back.

Recommended

Blink-182’s Kia Center setlist was:

‘Feeling This’ ‘The Rock Show’ ‘Man Overboard’ ‘Aliens Exist’ ‘DANCE WITH ME’ ‘Obvious’ (First live performance since 2018; first time with Tom since 2013) ‘Bored to Death’ ‘EDGING’ ‘Up All Night’ ‘MORE THAN YOU KNOW’ ‘M+M’s’ (First live performance since 2016; first time with Tom since 2013) ‘Stay Together for the Kids’ ‘Not Now’ (Extended drum solo with Travis suspended above the stage) ‘Can’t Go Back’ (World premiere; unreleased song) ‘I Miss You’ ‘Down’ ‘When Your Heart Stops Beating’ (+44 cover) ‘There Is’ (Box Car Racer cover)  ‘FUCK FACE’ ‘ANTHEM PART 3’ ‘Always’ ‘What’s My Age Again?’ ‘First Date’ ‘All the Small Things’ ‘Dammit’ ‘ONE MORE TIME’

Blink’s “One More Time Tour” marks the second tour they embarked on following the reformation with all of the original band members. It is in support of their ninth studio album ‘ One More Time ‘.

In a three-star review of the LP , NME shared: “Towards the end of the album, DeLonge asks a question many listeners will have in their minds as they hit play – “2023, who the fuck are we?” They aren’t all that far away from who they’ve always been – three friends wanting to make some noise and have a riot of a time doing it. Although they’re not exactly revolutionising pop punk, this was likely never the goal. Chances are, the fans just want the old Blink back anyway, and in 2023, they’re just as fun as ever.”

Earlier this year, the band revealed that they introduced brand new production elements, including a 360-stage set-up .

Blink-182

Before the festival even takes place for the very first time later this month, Las Vegas’ When We Were Young announced the date and lineup of its sophomore edition on Tuesday (Oct. 11), including headliners Blink-182 and Green Day .

Other bands on the roster for the nostalgic pop-punk fest include 30 Seconds to Mars, Good Charlotte, The Offspring, All Time Low, Something Corporate, Yellowcard, Sum 41, Simple Plan, Pierce the Veil, Thrice, Plain White Tees, The Veronicas, The Ataris, Bowling for Soup and Newfound Glory.

Blink-182 Reuniting Classic Lineup With Tom DeLonge For 2023 World Tour, New Single

Trending on billboard.

The inaugural When We Were Young festival , headlined by My Chemical Romance and Paramore, was announced in January and ended up going from one date to three dates thanks to the high demand. The fest premieres Oct. 22, followed by identical lineups on Oct. 23 and Oct. 29, also at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds.

Blink-182’s inclusion as a 2023 headliner is particularly exciting for fans considering the band just announced they’re officially reuniting with guitarist/singer Tom DeLonge for the first time since 2015. The rockers, who are dropping their new single “EDGING” this Friday, will also headline Lollapalooza’s 2023 iterations in Chile, Argentina and Brazil alongside Billie Eilish, Drake, Lil Nas X and more in the midst of their already-announced world tour.

Check out the announcement of When We Were Young 2023 below.

blink-182’s Concert Setlists: What to Expect at Their Live Shows

  • Copied to Clipboard

blink tour vegas

blink-182 are hosting the Rock Show of 2024 with their upcoming One More Time Tour across North America this summer. The reunited core lineup of Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker kicked off their comeback with two surprise sets at Coachella in April 2023, which led to their highest grossing North American tour ever , a headlining stint at Las Vegas’ When We Were Young festival and their chart-topping ninth album, One More Time…

After spending much of 2023 on the road during World Tour 2023/2024, the band is hitting North America again for the 2024 One More Time Tour starting in June. They will resume World Tour 2023/2024 and go international again after the One More Time Tour concludes in August.

Below, take a look at a typical blink-182 tour setlist and find out everything you need to know about the trio’s concerts.

blink-182 Concert Setlist Info

The current blink-182 setlist spares no expense when it comes to the band’s nostalgia-rich catalog, but the Mark, Tom and Travis Show has always come with its fair share of surprises, gags and stage banter. During their ongoing One More Time Tour, blink-182 have consistently featured their biggest hits, including “What’s My Age Again?” and “All the Small Things,” while incorporating new material from their latest album, One More Time… , which arrived in October 2023.

In February, blink-182 launched the Australian leg of their World Tour 2023/2024 and introduced several additions to the setlist from their new album, including a full performance of “ANTHEM PART 3,” “TURPENTINE” and the Travis Barker-led “F–K FACE.” The band have also experimented with a mash-up of their 1999 hit “Dammit” throughout the tour, playing teases to TLC’s “No Scrubs,” Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” and Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” Other deep-cut performances included “Wendy Clear” and “Don’t Leave Me” from 2001’s five-time platinum-selling album Enema of the State .

Is this the Summer of Rock? How tours from Creed, Def Leppard, others are igniting fans

They claimed the Summer of Love in 1967 .

2024 is primed to be the Summer of Rock.

Not because rock songs are topping music charts or surging on streamers. They're not. It's because titans of the genre have decided to unleash themselves on the road, giving fans a gluttony of opportunity to revel, whether they prefer hard rock, metal, alternative or punk.

Just look at who is on tour. There are the guitar slingers in Def Leppard, Green Day and Journey; the resurgent Nickelback ; reunions of Jane’s Addiction and Blink-182 ; a 25-year anniversary for Slipknot; adrenalized hits from Avril Lavigne and Alanis Morissette ; and, perhaps most surprisingly, the monster return of Creed, who will embark on the biggest tour of their career July 17. Even those sultans of stadium shows, the Rolling Stones , continue their age-defying lap around the country through July.

As Neil Young once sang , “Rock ‘n’ roll can never die.”

This summer, it’s about to thrive.

When it comes to rock fandom, there's 'a fresh new energy,' says Creed frontman

Many of the rockers on tour this summer are pulling in fans from two buckets: those who listened during their heyday (people who remember when you went to MTV to watch music videos) and those who are discovering the greats for the first time (young music fans expanding their musical horizons).

“There is this fresh new energy,” Creed frontman Scott Stapp says. “My 17-year-old is tapping into Nirvana and Soundgarden and old Metallica, and she’s hearing it for the first time. We’ve carried that theme in how we’ve designed this tour, as though there was never time off. This is the 2024 version of what we did in 2002.”

Creed is leading one of the most anticipated tours of the summer. Their Summer of ’99 trek is sold out, according to Live Nation, and will bring openers 3 Doors Down and Finger Eleven, with a rotation of Daughtry , Switchfoot, Tonic and Big Wreck joining certain dates.

It’s the first time in more than a decade that Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips have toured, a scenario that Stapp likens to “that friend you have that you don’t talk to every day, but you pick up where you left off. It feels right."

Though many ticketholders likely lived during the Summer of '99 referenced in their tour name, a slice of them are newer fans driven by the use of Creed's songs in viral TikTok videos, the Texas Rangers' use of "Higher" in its pregame soundtrack during its World Series-winning run, and even by Grammy-winning R&B/hip-hop artist SZA giving permission to think Creed is cool, saying "I will be a Creed fan forever" in her 2023 “ SZA: Variety’s Hitmaker of the Year”  interview. Even Live Nation’s statistics show the key demographic of ticket buyers to the band’s tour at 25-34.

Even though Stapp, through a vibrant solo career , and Tremonti, with the successful rock outfit Alter Bridge , have stayed visible, the revival of the band’s popularity has been revelatory.

“It’s not common,” Stapp concedes, “unless you can remind me of someone with this resurgence after this amount of time.”

These rock 'n' rollers are 'clearly the real deal'

Though there are fewer stadium tours in 2024, concert promoter Live Nation reports to USA TODAY that sales for shows in arenas, amphitheaters, theaters and clubs are up double digits year-over-year, with more than 100 million tickets sold so far.

“We have a more diverse set of artists on the road than ever before,” said Omar Al-Joulani, president of touring for Live Nation Concerts. “While many rock bands will be touring, there will also be a wide range of artists across various genres."

Indeed, if there is a through line to this season’s rock-heavy itinerary, it’s that while nostalgia inevitably seeps in, most of the bands filling amphitheaters and stadiums have never been too far from public consciousness, whether with new music or enduring affection for their hits.

More: The Sphere in Las Vegas really is a 'quantum leap' for live music: Inside the first shows

On June 13, perennial stadium-fillers Def Leppard released the stomper “Just Like 73” with guitar ace Tom Morello adding his signature wizardry. Though the band, which dropped “Diamond Star Halos” with the crunchy single “Kick” in 2022, has no shortage of smashes to tear through onstage, the thought of merely trotting out classics is unappealing.

“It would be really lame to be out there as a nostalgia act or doing it for the money,” says Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen , who noted that “Just Like 73” will be on the new set list alongside evergreen fist-pumpers "Pour Some Sugar On Me," "Photograph" and "Armageddon It." “We got into music because we wanted to be in a band, and for us, (playing live) is very easy because you still really want to do it.”

Def Leppard will share this summer’s stadium stretch , which kicks off July 6, with Journey. The Steve Miller Band occupies a regular opening slot, and Cheap Trick and Heart will dot other dates with their melodic guitar rock.

Journey is never far from a spotlight, with “Faithfully” still landing on prom night playlists and, of course, the self-generating popularity of “Don’t Stop Believin’,” which will live on as long as new generations discover “The Sopranos.”

Though the band released the album “Freedom” in 2022, they plan to hit rewind/repeat on the vintage tape deck this tour.

Thanks to the “great chemistry” shared between not just the members of both chart-topping, guitar-forward bands but also their audiences, Journey guitarist and co-founder Neal Schon expects sold-out sing-a-longs across the nation this summer.

“ Def Leppard had a lot of radio success at the same time we did, so history kind of puts us together,” Schon says. “We first met them many years back when they first broke, but you immediately admire people in your same rock arena who are clearly the real deal.”

Is rock ‘n’ roll dead? Yes. No. Maybe? But enjoy it this summer

Most of the artists sweating for your entertainment this summer are close to, if not in, AARP territory – Lavigne is a relative youngster at 39 – and the debate continues about the current state of rock ‘n’ roll and who might maintain longevity to fill amphitheaters and stadiums in 20 years.

Mammoth WVH with Wolfgang Van Halen is the type of rock outfit carrying an old-fashioned torch as they open stadiums with Metallica, play club shows in between and will join Creed for a fall arena run.

Greta Van Fleet spans the globe this summer at a combination of festivals, theaters and arenas, and Dorothy, fronted by singer Dorothy Martin (who duets with Stapp on his single “If These Walls Could Talk” ) is the kind of power-lunged belter who makes you nearly blow a speaker.

Collen believes rock is more of an idea – “People love the idea of a rock star,” he says – and artists he considers rock icons, such as Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison , have no one in their shadows.

“You’re got getting new versions of that,” Collen says. “I think the image part of rock is dead.”

More: R.E.M. performs together for first time in nearly 20 years

Stapp, meanwhile, points to country music and the cross-pollination of rock and country as a meaningful migration.

“In a weird way, the country music scene is reinvigorating rock,” he says.

The future of rock might be hazy, but for now, there are plenty of guitar amps ready to be turned to 11.

So for those who still want to rock, we salute you.

After 40 years, the punk band NOFX is walking away with a farewell tour that is nothing short of a victory lap.

When they were teenagers, the group developed an extreme do-it-yourself ethos. They had no interest in working for anyone else.

As “the Grateful Dead of punk rock,” they played more than 3,000 shows, and sold more than seven million albums, without ever having a radio hit or much mainstream attention.

And now they are ready to say goodbye — and unlike other bands they promise there will be no reunion tours.

Can You Retire if You Never Had a Job? NOFX Will Try.

The punk rock pioneers chose freedom — and chaos — over major labels. Pulling the plug while things are still working is one final act of rebellion.

By James H. Martin

Photographs by Max Slobodda

“It’s like going to your own wake.”

Mike Burkett, known exclusively in the punk rock world as Fat Mike, was talking about the farewell tour for his band, NOFX, during which the group is traveling to 40 cities, with 40 songs per concert, celebrating their 40 years as a band.

The tour started a year ago in Barcelona and will end where it all began for them, in Los Angeles, with three shows from Oct. 4-6. Fat Mike, 57, along with Eric Melvin, Aaron Abeyta and Erik Sandin are, collectively, experiencing the feels.

“This is it,” Fat Mike, the band’s singer, songwriter and bassist, said of the prospect of touring again after this. “We aren’t Kiss, or Black Sabbath, or Mötley Crüe. This is the end.”

“It’s kind of sad, saying goodbye,” said Mr. Abeyta, 58, the group’s guitarist and trumpet player, who goes by the nickname El Hefe. “We’re family. We’re basically brothers. We’ve lived on the road together, on a bus, sometimes in the same bed.”

“It’s weird, it’s uncertain, it’s scary,” said Mr. Sandin, 57, the group’s drummer who was nicknamed Smelly for the drug-fueled flatulence of his earlier days. (He’s been sober and clean for years.) “I feel like I’m losing a leg.”

Mr. Melvin, 57, the band’s guitarist, known simply as Melvin, acknowledged there was some tension over walking away while the band was still successful. “But I’m just trying to enjoy it, trying to feel it,” he said. “We’ve all gone through it in our own way, but we’ve gone through it together. We’ve got some scars, scar tissue, some sensitivities that can’t be touched anymore, but I can focus on the good stuff.”

NOFX may not be a household name, but to those in the punk world, it’s been the gold standard that’s endured the ebbs and flows of hardcore music. The band’s reputation has rested not only on its songs — packed with crunchy riffs, breakneck drumming and melodic vocals with classic SoCal harmonies — but also on how its musicians have handled their careers. As teenagers, the members of the group decided they did not want to work for anyone, and 40 years later they are retiring as punk rock royalty — and one of the most prominent examples in pop culture of a D.I.Y. ethic taken to extremes.

Formed in 1983, well before more popular punk bands like Blink-182, Green Day and the Offspring, NOFX has never had a radio hit and refused to join the parade of alternative bands on MTV in the 1990s. The group has been defiant and prolific, producing 15 full-length albums — one gold record, “Punk in Drublic,” among them — 17 EPs and countless seven-inch records.

Despite minimal media coverage, the band says it has sold more than seven million records, exclusively releasing them on independent labels, chief among them: Fat Wreck Chords, an imprint co-owned and controlled by Fat Mike.

“We’ve always done things ourselves,” Fat Mike said.

A man with a blonde mohawk and a black muscle shirt shaves in front of a mirror.

While most bands look to attract fans, NOFX spent four decades perfecting the art of something more akin to anarchist self-centered sabotage. Like a show in London in 2000 when Fat Mike, Melvin and El Hefe decided to take ecstasy before going onstage. “Melvin is trying to play the accordion and he can’t,” Fat Mike said, laughing. “It was our biggest show and we took the punk way out. We were all dying laughing.”

“Who cares?” he added. “Why NOFX are so good is because we’re having a better time than our fans.”

In the band’s formative years, NOFX’s defining quality was how bad the group was — bad musicians and bad singers, with Fat Mike’s distinctive, whiny-sounding lead vocals and Melvin’s guttural, monotone screams. They were kids with trauma — abandonment, molestation, addiction — who found a community that accepted them. In “Hepatitis Bathtub,” the band’s unflinching autobiography, you learn about Fat Mike drinking out of a beer bong made from a sex toy, Smelly buying his first drum set with drug money and El Hefe being interrogated by the secret service for a counterfeit cash scheme.

The early days were defined by blistering, puerile songs, many of which did not have choruses — a style that remains their trademark. A show promoter, concerned by how poorly they sounded, once paid the band $13 not to play.

But after Fat Mike heard Bad Religion’s seminal punk album, “Suffer,” which was released in 1988, he and the other members of the group decided to “stop sucking.”

While Smelly is not sure Fat Mike’s vocals ever achieved the goal — “Mike’s voice started out horrible. It got mediocre. Now it’s back to horrible.” — the band slowly got more proficient, starting with the release of “Ribbed,” in 1991. That year, the music industry was turned on its head by the release of Nirvana’s “Nevermind,” an “extinction-level” event in pop music, according to Fat Mike. Mainstream music took an edgy turn and, within a few years, bands calling themselves punk, including NOFX, found themselves courted by major labels. But Fat Mike — just Fat Mike — wanted to stay the D.I.Y. course.

“I started to doubt,” El Hefe said. “I was looking at these other bands that used to open for us, sleep on our bus when we were at hotels — Green Day, Offspring — and we’re watching them all blow up and make millions. We all thought about it, me, Smelly and Melvin. Are we making the right decision?”

Fat Mike’s main argument — “You are getting into bed with a corporation. You are not an artist. You are an employee.” — eventually won over the others. “I convinced the guys. It took me four months,” he said.

“We were doing fine,” he continued. “We bought houses. I asked the guys, ‘Are you happy with what you’re doing?’”

The others agreed they were, so Fat Mike said, “If we just keep doing what we’re doing, we’ll have one of the most awesome careers ever and we’ll be happy the whole time.”

That’s mostly what happened. NOFX traveled the country and eventually the world, playing more than 3,000 shows across 33 countries and more than 600 cities.

“Over the years I’ve been asked if we made a bad decision,” Melvin said. “Sure, we could have made more money but also burned out quickly or gotten a lot of popularity which would have caused a backlash.” He said he knows people who signed to major labels. “They make a salary, but they’re told what to do, when they need to write, when they need to produce a new album, when they need to tour — that wasn’t for us.”

Controversies aside — most of which involved drugs, onstage banter taken too far and the unpredictability of both the band and its fans — the members of NOFX managed to do something most people can only dream of: They avoided having a day job for 40 years.

What’s the secret to such an unusual path to success?

“To have fun,” Smelly said. “To have no expectations, enjoy the moment. I see a lot of bands make the mistake of wanting to be huge — and they start missing the moment.”

“People don’t understand money or success,” Fat Mike said. “Success is happiness. And if you’re happy, you know what there isn’t? More happiness.”

Along the way, there have been failed business ventures like Melvin’s cafe, “Spun Melvin,” and El Hefe’s nightclub, “Hefe’s Nightclub,” and, for Melvin, feeling the pressure to drink and do drugs because that’s what people expected of him. “That became a job.”

Now the final tour. The band is drawing large, often sold-out crowds of 5,000 to 15,000 fans per show. “We declined to work with Live Nation or AEG except for a couple of cities,” Fat Mike said. “And we only play parking lots, campgrounds and parks. Our last three shows are going to be on a pier. We’ve always done things ourselves.”

Fat Mike was talking from his home in Las Vegas, where he partly owns and operates the Punk Rock Museum . It is one of the many business ventures he gets visibly excited to hype up — a portfolio that has reportedly made him millions but often leads to a palpable amount of frenetic energy emanating from him.

“That’s why I need to get tied up and beat,” he said of his S&M fetish and love of wearing women’s clothes, both of which have been incorporated into the band over years. “It’s the only time my mind stops working.”

He leads a busy life and felt it was time to say goodbye to NOFX — “We’re not a well-known band as far as popular music, but we’re loved. After 40 years, I’m so tired of it.” — even if the rest of the band needed convincing once again.

“None of them wanted to quit,” Fat Mike said of his bandmates.

“At first, we did resent him,” El Hefe said. “We didn’t agree with ending this. We were still making money, we still have an audience, people are still showing up at our shows. Their kids are growing up and coming to the shows. We’re like the Grateful Dead of punk rock.”

“Smelly was so pissed,” Fat Mike added. “I just took away his livelihood. I gave him no choice. And everyone was like, what are we going to do for money?”

For Smelly, that could mean touring as a drum tech or building out his surfboard side hustle. Melvin has been working on a solo musical career and became a life coach. El Hefe recently got into acting. In addition to an eight-episode stint on “Mayans,” he’s shooting a film with Vince Vaughn and Al Pacino.

Fat Mike said he set up this last tour so “my boys” are financially secure, though when asked about this point, Melvin shut it down: “I don’t want to talk finances.”

Like any long-term relationship, NOFX’s scar tissue has been built up by what’s been left unsaid.

“I don’t want him to feel like he has to keep taking care of us,” Melvin said. “I’m afraid he’s thought that for a long time, which is kind of funny because I feel we’ve taken care of each other.” After a sizable pause, he added, “Quite a lot.”

“The four of us have a bit of an avoidance of conflict,” Melvin continued. “Maybe there were things we should have said to each other like, ‘I love you’ more, or ‘something seems to be going on with you, buddy, and I just want you to know that I’m here for you.’”

The band still has one another, at least until Los Angeles. When discussing the final show, Fat Mike got choked up. “Because it’s the last time anyone is going to see NOFX. I don’t know how I’m going to get through it,” he said. “Probably with a drug that makes me the least emotional.”
