City Tour vs. City Tour Lux

If you have heard of the baby jogger brand, then you probably about the city select and city select lux strollers. but, did you know that they make smaller strollers that are much more travel friendly well...they do, and they are amazing.

Both the City Tour and the City Tour Lux are designed to be the ultimate travel stroller, while still having features and maneuverability that keep your adventuring smooth sailing. The Tour Lux is not on the market yet, but will be in the Spring of 2018. So, if you will be in the market for a travel-friendly stroller within this next year, you have both options! Let's do a bit of a comparison, shall we?

Type, Weight, and Size

The City Tour is a fixed seat stroller, and the Tour Lux is a modular stroller. Modular means that the seat can be removed and turned forwards, or backwards. Now about weight; Tour Lux weighs in at 19 lbs while the Tour only weighs 14.2 lbs.

In addition to weighing less, the Tour is overall a more compact stroller when folded and unfolded. Are you looking for the lightest and most compact, or a little bigger with a few more features? Think about it as we go on!

Age and Weight Limits

You can start using City Tour at 6 months, up to 45 lbs. The Tour Lux is suitable for 3 months up to 45 lbs, and is also compatible with car seat adapters. That means you can use your car seat in your frame for children younger than 3 months old. For some, the simplicity of the stroller is ruined by adapters and seat changes, and for others those things are more appealing. What would you prefer?

Comfort Features

The Tour Lux has all of the features that the classic Tour has, as well as a few upgrades that make the ride even sweeter. What are the differences? With the Tour Lux you get a larger canopy, adjustable foot rest, larger seat, and more padding in the seat.

Both seats have a full recline, but getting the seats reclined is different on both strollers. To recline the seat on the Tour you simply pinch together a clasp and pull the seat down to recline. Reclining the Tour Lux is done by pushing in a button. So, this might not be considered a comfort feature for the baby, but a good storage basket is definitely a comfort feature for mom and dad!

Both of these strollers have a functional storage basket underneath the seat. The Tour Lux basket is slightly larger, but both are a good enough size to put items in that you don't want falling out of, or off, the stroller as you are on the go. Anything to help you feel less like a pack mule, right?!

Safety and Accessories

Of course every stroller needs to have a brake, especially when you are traveling. You don't want to ruin a vacation with a getaway stroller! You will find a standard foot brake on the Tour and a hand brake on the Tour Lux.  Both strollers come standard with a backpack-style travel bag.

The fact that the strollers fit into a backpack, and you can use your arms for something else, is amazing! It took me one airport visit to realize the beauty of a stroller that can easily disappear and not be just another thing your hands need to keep track of.

The Tour Lux has additional compatible accessories as well; a cup holder for mom and dad, belly bar, detachable bassinet, and car seat adapters as I mentioned earlier. Compatible car seats for this stroller are Baby Jogger, Britax, Cybex, Graco, and Maxi-Cosi.

If you are going to be traveling by air with an infant, and are planning on purchasing a ticket to secure their car seat into on the plane, this is a game changer. Baby can travel with much less disturbance, and hopefully just sleep whenever they need to!

A quick fold might just be the deal-sealing feature for me. Both Tour models fold quickly and easily! Two easy steps for the Tour and three easy steps for the Tour Lux. The Tour Lux will stand when folded and has a shoulder strap, but remember that both of them pop perfectly into their travel backpacks too!

Are you convinced yet?! Let me tell you that my first thought about travel strollers was "unnecessary" especially if you have a nice stroller that accommodates all your needs. Then, I took my stroller through the airport. HOLY TOLEDO. I wanted to pull my hair out so many times because you are expected to just whip that thing open and shut and have it plane ready in the blink of any eye multiple times in your journey. No, thank you!!

I am definitely saving up my spare change to get one of these sweet babies for the next big flight experience I have! Want to test it out in person? Come visit us at our new store!! Nobody needs extra hassle on vacation, so let's get your stroller situation spiffed right up!

Hi Araceli, you’ll have to look on Facebook marketplace or Mercado to find that adapter since they don’t make them anymore.

Where could I find car seat adapter for the tour lux? I can’t seem to find any for Graco or chicco.

Baby Jogger City Tour Lux Review

Baby Jogger is a great brand that make quality, innovating, easy to use, parent-friendly prams. And I have to say I got a little bit excited about the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux . It’s the newer – more “Lux” – version of the City Tour.

Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is one of the most, if not the most, compact pram that offers a parent and forward facing seat that is also newborn ready.

The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is a light and compact pram that still offers a lot of big pram features:

  • Newborn ready seat
  • Parent or forward facing seat
  • It folds with the seat attached facing in either direction
  • And the fold is quick, easy and very compact
  • Good sized hood
  • Big basket for a little pram
  • One handed recline
  • Handbrake with push button release
  • 20.5kg weight limit

Baby Jogger City Tour VS City Tour Lux

20180409 141115

Firstly the upgrades with the City Tour Lux are reflected in its price point. The Lux is priced around $600 whereas the City Tour RRP is under $500.

The main difference between the City Tour and the City Tour Lux is the Lux has the option of a parent facing seat. And has a newborn ready seat whereas the City Tour is from 6 months onward. I think these are the main features and reason you’d choose the Lux version over the original City Tour.

Otherwise the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is a little bit bigger; it has a roomier seat, bigger basket, taller handlebar, and bigger hood. The Lux also has the features of an adjustable footrest and a standing fold, which the City Tour does not. Also the Lux has a hand brake, rather than the footbrake on the City Tour. And the Lux has a button recline rather than the City Tour’s strap recline.

The City Tour weighs a teeny tiny 6.5kgs, and the City Tour Lux weighs a fairly compact 8.8kgs.

Taking The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux Out And About

baby jogger city tour lux

The City Tour Lux handled pretty well on the usual grass, playground mulch, gravel etc. that you’ll come across on a trip to the playground. However it’s definitely not an all-terrain pram – not that I was expecting it to be! It was pretty bumpy and caught on the edges of the footpath and playground. So you need to do a bit of a “curb pop” to get it over some of the bumps.

So it’s much better suited for sealed footpaths. It glides and maneuvers absolutely beautifully over smooth surfaces. With it’s tight turning circle and narrow size it’s perfect for travel, negotiating through cities and shopping centres. Not so much the great outdoors.

Focused on Light and Compact

The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is SUPER COMPACT when folded. Check it out in it’s carry back pack in the boot of my Kia Rio (small car). There’s still heaps of space left over for gear and groceries.

Another thing I think is really cool about the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is that the carrycot/bassinet (sold separately) actually fold with the frame. So with most other prams the bassinet makes the fold really bulky, or have to be removed entirely to fold the pram. Whereas the City Tour Lux have a bassinet that basically folds in half just like the seat. So clever!

The seat is also not particularly big. Which is fine given it’s a super compact pram, but just be aware the height might be the limiting factor, rather than the weight limit of 20.5kgs. A friend’s four year old sat in the seat and was a few centimeters too tall for the hood. So this pram really goes up to approximately two or three years old.

The seat is also quite low to the ground which could be difficult for parents who have trouble with bending down to buckle in or pick up their new baby. The handle isn’t adjustable, which could a problem for very tall or very petite parents.

Baby Jogger City Tour Lux Is A Sweet Little City Pram

baby jogger city tour lux

Overall though I think the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is a great little pram. I think it’s going to be perfect for parents who need a very compact pram – either because they have a small amount of boot space, or storage space at home. Especially if having the parent facing seat option is an absolute necessity for you. (It is for me!) This pram delivers both being a very functional small pram, with the reversible seat, that is suitable from birth. So this little pocket rocket ticks some pretty big boxes!

Hi there, thanks for this review I actually got this pram thanks to your review and others a couple months ago. My son is 1 month old and I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but when he is laying flat the canopy keeps falling back and it never stays all the way up. Did you have this issue too? Perhaps I have to click the canopy into something that I’ve missed? I also had a massive scare last week when one of the wheels fell off, I’m like the pram overall but I’m now scared to use it because of the wheel. Also they sold me the glider board with it but it’s really not compatible and not comfortable for my 3yo. 🙁

I’m sorry to hear about your wheel coming off! That would be really scary. Firstly with that I would get in touch either with the store you bought it from or Baby Jogger directly if you’re at all worried about the safety of the pram. I’ve worked in the nursery industry for a few years now and have found the Baby Jogger team have really great follow up customer service and easy to deal with on warranty claims. So they or the retailer should either troubleshoot issues, repair or replace anything on your pram that’s faulty or unsafe.

With the hood – I did find on bumpy terrain it would get jiggled down. Even in the photos in the review you can see it’s not like crispy *popped* open like some prams. And if you watch video at the top of the page from about 4:40 minutes onward – on the smooth footpath the hood stays put, but after a couple of minutes pushing on playground mulch , grass and gravel, it does get jiggled down a bit. Though that might also be worth mentioning to the retailer/supplier if that’s something that can be fixed or secured in some way. I’m not really sure.

I still have such a sweet spot for this little pram, but it does have some limitations.

Please let me know how you go with it, I’d love to know if there is a solution or an answer for the hood being a bit unstable and if you need any more help with it.

Thank you and take care,

Baby Jogger City Tour Lux Review

Quick Summary: The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is a real dark horse. It pleasantly surprised us in terms of useful features and really delivered in terms of quality too.

Whats good?

  • Really small fold
  • Great wheel material
  • Lovely fabrics
  • Folds with carrycot in place as well as seat unit

Whats not so good?

  • No bumper bar
  • No included raincover or accessories

Table of contents

Things we love, things to look out for, our verdict.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

Where to start? We knew this stroller was going to be neat when we clocked the economically sized box it came in. The origami-style fold can happen in whatever configuration you have the pushchair in (forward-facing seat, parent-facing seat or even with the carrycot on!). It folds so neatly into such a small package and the folding carrycot was just mesmerising. When popped open, both seat and carrycot are full sized and very luxurious and well padded. The seat also has a great one-handed recline system.

The hood on the seat unit is a fabulous size and it really gives a good shaded and private space for baby.

Everyday strollers can really take some wear and tear and we believe this stroller is built to withstand anything you throw at it. The hardy but comfortable fabrics and the quality wheel materials will definitely stand the test of time.

Having a hand-operated brake was a great benefit for stop-start busy trips and saved us from looking down at our feet searching for pedals every two seconds.

On a few occasions we needed to fold the pushchair to get on the bus when it was in carrycot mode and we could do so in just a few seconds, all with one hand and whilst holding baby! If you are travelling with the stroller for any length of time, it comes complete with its own travel bag, which we found very useful.

In all honesty, there aren't many features at all which have been compromised to allow for a tiny fold and functional everyday use with this stroller.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

We are pretty struck by the ease of use and how practical this stroller has been. There are just a few niggles which we have noticed, but these are minor issues which some people might happily let pass.

When you first set the stroller up, you will see that there are adapter holes on each side of the seat. We expected a bumper bar to be in the box to slot in here but there wasn't, which left the whole pushchair looking a tad incomplete. If you want a bumper bar then the City Tour Lux bumper bar is sold as an additional accessory for £34.

The other niggle we have is a little pet hate here at Pushchair Expert - there is no raincover included with the stroller. If you want to stay dry (and the likelihood of being caught in a shower is pretty high in the UK) then you need to purchase this as an added extra of £16.99. If you choose to buy the carrycot, you'll also need an additional raincover for that. It would be brilliant if these accessories were included!

The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is a real dark horse. It pleasantly surprised us in terms of useful features and really delivered in terms of quality too. The folding carrycot is very luxurious and comfortable for a newborn and the reversible seat unit is spacious for older babies and toddlers too. It is just a shame that the essential accessories such as raincovers and bumpers bars aren't included in the package.

My Review On The Baby Jogger City Tour LUX Stroller

This post is sponsored by Baby Jogger. However, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

I can not believe that summer break is almost over! I had so many different summer activities I wanted to do, but not enough time! Today I’m teaming up with Baby Jogger to review the new City Tour LUX stroller and share 5 family-friendly summer activities I want to do before the summer is over.

Houston lifestyle blogger Uptown with Elly Brown shares her review on the Baby Jogger® City Tour™ LUX stroller and why it's great for families on the go!

First, let’s talk about the Baby Jogger City Tour LUX stroller, Y’all know I am a HUGE fan of Baby Jogger . Hands down my favorite stroller brand, you get a high-quality stroller with incredible features, and you don’t have to pay over a thousand dollars for it.

The Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is the stroller to have when out and about and traveling with your little one. It’s lightweight and ultra-compact (it accepts an infant car seat or their new foldable pram to accommodate children from birth). It has the option for reversible seating or forward facing. AND you can also attach a glider board to make it a double stroller.

Houston lifestyle blogger Uptown with Elly Brown shares her review on the Baby Jogger City Tour LUX stroller and why it's great for families on the go!

The City Tour LUX comes with a carry bag for easy transportation to keep the stroller clean when traveling too!

Lastly, my favorite part of the City Tour LUX is its compact fold. The stroller has an ultra-compact, one-handed fold and features an auto-lock and carry strap when folded.

If you’re a parent always on the go, this is a great stroller to have and I highly recommend looking into getting one.

Houston lifestyle blogger Uptown with Elly Brown shares her review on the Baby Jogger City Tour LUX stroller and why it's great for families on the go!

As I mentioned, summer is almost gone, and there are still some family-friendly activities I wanted to do. Here is my small list below:

  • Go to an ice cream shop and try all the flavors. Yup, ALL of them. Even the pistachio flavor that looks disgusting.
  • Visit a splash pad. I know Houston has so many excellent splash pad locations. Now to pick a place and go is the real question.
  • Go berry picking. Beleive it or not, I have never gone berry picking, and I have no idea on where to go. So if you’re a local, PLEASE let me know of a location. I need some good recommendations.
  • Make lemonade from scratch. NOTHING beats fresh lemonade in the summer heat.
  • Go to the beach, technically Galveston isn’t a beach, but it’s close enough. The boys are old enough that I want to teach them how to build sand castles!

Did you check off all the family activities you wanted to do this summer? What were some of the activities? Share below!

Baby Jogger Stroller Review: City Tour LUX

Let’s talk about my new favorite daily stroller, the Baby Jogger City Tour LUX – does anyone else swear by it too? This stroller has been awesome to use during my pregnancy, especially in these later months when everything hurts and lifting ANYTHING heavy is not fun (and that, unfortunately, includes Greenlea).

Like an umbrella stroller, it’s lightweight (19 pounds), but the seat can face forwards or backwards, and the basket underneath is capable of lots of storage — which is awesome when you don’t want to carry anything.  It’s actually easy to fold and unfold (Zack can do it one-handed; I’m not as coordinated), and is ultra-compact to fit in the trunk of my car (in addition to groceries, bags, etc.).

Greenlea just turned four and loves it – and when the new baby comes we can buy a foldable pram or car seat adapter and glider board for her to make it a double stroller. This one is going to get a lot of use.

I’ve now flown a few times using this stroller. Zack is usually with us, but once it was just Greenlea and I (at 33 weeks pregnant). Thank GOD it’s lightweight and (truly) easy to fold. You can separate the seat and the frame, but you don’t have to…which makes it so easy to check it at the gate of the plane and open it back up after landing. It folds right up to fit through the baggage screening, too, so it doesn’t take extra time during security. It was a lifesaver when our flight was delayed — I could pack all of the bags on it (under it, etc.) and rest my feet on it when they started to swell up. If you fly a lot, this stroller is perfect for your family.

Baby Jogger City Tour Lux Stroller Review

baby jogger city tour vs lux

The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux is an updated version of the City Tour model which is a lightweight compact travel stroller.

The Lux stroller is still lightweight and compact but has a reversible seat, and travel system capability and can be used from birth, unlike City Tour which has to be used from 6 months.

The reversible seat has a very deep one-hand lever recline (my favorite type of recline) that goes to almost a flat position suitable from 3 months and up to 45 lbs. The adjustable leg rest goes up and down providing more room to stretch.

The large canopy features three panels plus a large sunvisor that can be tucked away when not needed. The hand brake is super flip-flop-friendly! LOL. The large and easy-to-access basket can fit your large diaper bag.

But the main and the most impressive feature of Lux is its compact one-hand fold. You can hold a child in one hand and fold it with the other. The auto lock activates by itself without the need to press the stroller together (like on many other models).

There is also a standing fold and a carry handle for easy transporting. I would say this is as compact as reversible-seat strollers get. It might even fit in an overhead storage compartment on the plane, of course depending on the airline.

Perfect for traveling parents! The Lux is 19 lbs which is about average weight for a reversible seat model.

Another thing that I like is the ability to transform into a travel system with the addition of a car seat or a pram with a bassinet (sold separately). It works with the most popular car seat brands. There is also a stroller board option for an older child.

So, far I’ve seen great reviews from parents who absolutely love this new model. The only complaint I’ve seen is the lack of included accessories. Not a big deal in my opinion. So far, I’ve been impressed with all the features. I think it will be a very popular model this year .

The City Tour Lux retails for around $299 and comes in four colors. The only included accessory is a travel bag. I heard some parents complaining about the high price, but I feel like it’s a fair price for a stroller that will last you for years.

It has a large UPF 50+ thee-panel canopy plus a two-panel pop-out sunvisor that provides plenty of shade. This is a great canopy size for a lightweight model. There is also a large mesh viewing window with a magnetic closure.

The cool thing about the closure is that it uses magnets to stay open so you don’t need to roll it anywhere. Just open it and it will stick to the canopy.

The rubber handlebar is not adjustable and is located 38″ from the ground. I think it’s a good height for shorter parents, but might be too low if you are much taller. BTW, the average handlebar height is about 40″.

I have mixed feelings about the rubber cover. On one hand, it’s easy to clean and very durable. On the other hand, it’s not that soft when used for extended periods.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

The seat is 10″ wide with a 19″ seat back and a measurement of 22″ from the bottom of the seat to the top of the canopy. The seat is a little narrow compared to the average of 13″. Could be a problem for a larger child.

The canopy height also could’ve been a little taller. For comparison, the Yoyo+ Plus model (the most popular travel stroller) has it at 26″. The seat is very well padded and is reversible so your child can face you or the world.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

It has a one-hand lever recline that reclines only the back of the seat providing your child with plenty of room to stretch. This recline goes to almost a flat position and is suitable from 3 months and up to 45 lbs.

Great space for naps and quick diaper changes. If you want to use it from birth, you can replace the seat with a bassinet or an infant car seat (sold separately).

baby jogger city tour vs lux

It’s always nice to see an adjustable legrest on lightweight strollers. Definitely a big plus.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

It has an adjustable padded 5-point harness with a center release button.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

It doesn’t have the largest basket, but it’s pretty decent. Should fit your large diaper bag. You can access it from the back or the front if the seat is reversed. Again, for the lightweight model, it’s not bad. There is also a small zipper pocket in the back for small essentials.

For even more storage, I recommend getting a universal stroller organizer instead. That way you can take not only your coffee cup, but also a LOT of stuff including keys, phone, water, wallet, snacks, diapers, toys, and more.

The amount of stuff I can fit into this organizer is unbelievable. And, the best part is that I can use it on ANY of my strollers.

The hand brake on the side of the frame is super easy to engage and is super flip-flop-friendly! LOL. No more shoe scratches.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

It rolls on four small 5″ wheels. The front wheels are swivel but can be locked straight. This buggy is designed for flat surfaces but could tackle some terrain.

The all-wheel suspention helps to absorb some of the bumps making the ride smoother. Keep in mind, this is NOT a jogging stroller despite having “Baby Jogger” as part of its name. “Baby Jogger” is just the name of the company. You can NOT jog with this stroller.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

FOLD/UNFOLD

Love the fold! You can fold this stroller with just one hand, but it requires multiple steps. I like that this is a TRUE one-hand fold, meaning you can actually hold a child in one hand and fold it with the other.

No need to press the stroller together to activate the auto lock. It activates by itself once you lift up the folded stroller. I found the fold to be intuitive and parent-friendly, meaning it’s not going to be a fight to fold and unfold the stroller. LOL.

The seat can be facing in either direction. There is also a standing fold that gets very handy when traveling. The folded dimension is 24″L x 21″W x 11″H which is very compact for a reversible seat stroller. For comparison, YoYo+ Plus is 7″L x 17″W x 20″H.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

You can carry it by the hand strap or by using an attached shoulder strap . Since it weighs almost 20 lbs, I would probably use my hand because it’s a little heavy for my shoulder.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

You can replace the seat with the bassinet to convert it into a pram. The bassinet folds in half and can be folded with the stroller.

GLIDER BOARD

Great for an older child.

TRAVEL SYSTEM

You can turn it into a travel system by getting adapters. Works with the most popular brands. Here is my list of the top safest car seats .

baby jogger city tour vs lux

INCLUDED! The bag comes in quite handy when traveling. It has a carry handle and shoulder straps so you can wear it like a backpack. It’s not very well made but it’s free. LOL. This is the only accessory included.

baby jogger city tour vs lux

-Small wheels.  As with most lightweight models the wheels are small and can’t really handle much of the terrain.

-Lack of included accessories. I would like to see a cup holder and a bumper bar included but those could be purchased separately.

-Narrow seat. The seat is only 10″ wide which is a little narrow compared to the average of 13″.

Which is better? City Tour Lux or City Mini GT ? I was going to get City Mini GT but this Jogger City Tour Lux looks good , too.

Does the stroller fold with the infant car seat adapters attached?

How do you attach the glider board? It’s not listed as compatible on the Baby Jogger website and I’ve had trouble trying to attach mine. Any tips? Thanks!

Is the the tour lux in ash color rain proof?

Is there an adaptor that works with the city tour lux and the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35?

Meet the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux

The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux was released in 2018 as a higher-end version of the original Baby Jogger City Tour stroller. It features a full-suspension chassis for a smoother ride; its smaller wheels make it more maneuverable in tight spaces. We put the Baby Jogger City Tour Lux through its paces to see how it stacks up against the competition.

The City Tour and City Tour Lux are similar stroller models from the same manufacturer. Both strollers have many features in common, including a reversible seat that allows the child to face forward or backward. There are also some key differences between the two models. The City Tour is designed for use on smooth surfaces such as sidewalks and pavement, while the City Tour Lux is built for rougher terrain such as dirt roads and grass.

The City Tour is lighter and more compact, making it easier to maneuver in tight spaces. The City Tour Lux, on the other hand, is tougher and more durable, able to withstand more wear and tear.

What’s to Be Desired with the City Tour Lux?

How’s the seat.

The City Tour Lux has a plush cushioned seat and a multi-position recline that can be nearly flat. It is absolutely to be desired that parents can easily lower or raise the seat by pulling a lever with one hand.

This stroller’s seat can hold little passengers from 3 months up to 45 lbs.

The seat may be adjusted so that the child can face either their parents or the outside world. A 5-point restraint with cushioning is also present.

What parents say

“The options for recline are excellent, and the seat is cozy.” – B. June 6, 2021 5 stars

“The seat’s ability to recline almost completely flat was a godsend!” – S. May 23, 2021

“The seat can face either forwards or backwards. I find it really convenient.” – M. May 23, 2021, 1 star

Is it heavy?

It weighs just a little bit more than 19 lbs., which is quite amazing and manageable.

“It has a 19 lb. weight range. This, while not ultralight, is nonetheless significantly more lightweight than a double stroller or many full-size strollers.” – G. February 19, 2020, 4 stars

Is there ample storage?

The City Tour Lux’s weight restriction for storage is 15.4 lbs., so it can hold everything you need during your stroll. You can also store your valuables or smaller stuff in the zippered pouch located at the back of the basket.

“For a small stroller, the basket is enormous! At the grocery store, I never need a cart, and everyone is amazed at how much it can hold.” – B. February 17, 2020, 5 stars

“For a stroller this size, the Lux also has a great storage basket. Our diaper bag and jackets fit easily inside of it.” – G. February 19, 2020, 4 stars

Is it compact and easy to store?

This stroller is very small and doesn’t take a lot of space in any vehicle trunk, a feature which many parents must consider before buying a stroller. When folded, this stroller is very small and doesn’t take up much room. The Baby Jogger City Tour Lux’s folded measurements are 24” x 21” x 11”.

“We searched for a travel stroller that was lightweight, portable, and simple to fold and store in a car trunk. It can be used as soon for newborns and is lightweight, modular, with choices for forward-facing and parent-facing use.” –B. November 10, 2019, 5 stars

“Because it takes up so little room in a trunk, it is manageable and light.” – M. June 9, 2019, 5 stars

“This time, since I just needed a single stroller, I wanted something that was simpler to use, fold, and carry. All of those criteria are met by this stroller. It’s a cute, reasonably priced product of high quality.” – N. January 18, 2019, 5 stars

The Not-So-Favorite Features

With a flip-out sun visor, this stroller boasts a fantastic, enormous 3-panel canopy. The canopy provides excellent sun protection in addition to being large, providing the baby plenty of area to grow. It offers wind and UV protection for the infant. Compared to the original City Tour stroller’s canopy, it is larger. Unfortunately, many parents are not a fan of it; they have reported some issues like it is difficult to fold or it doesn’t stay in place while using the stroller.

“I’ve had the mesh canopy for a year, but I can never figure out how to unfold it without it kind of going back up halfway.” – W. March 17, 2020, 4 stars

“It annoys me that the shade is clearly flimsy.” – J. June 17, 2022, 4 stars

“When the seat is all the way back, the canopy drops. When the baby is sleeping, there is no way to shield him from the sun.” – S. April 10, 2022, 1 star

Parent Tip!

The canopy’s lack of stability has been a source of complaints from several consumers. To lock it in place, you must pull the cover downward until you hear a click. It might need to be pulled a little firmly.

The folding mechanism

Folding the Tour Lux only requires one hand and just takes a few seconds. It employs one of the simplest stroller folds – it’s all because of the innovative folding mechanism. On the other hand, many parents still complain about the way it folds and unfolds; it requires time and practice.

“The unfolding is awful and not user-friendly.” – A. June 10, 2019, 2 stars

baby jogger city tour vs lux

The handbrake

The City Tour Lux’s handbrake is situated on the right side of the handlebar, an uncommon position for stroller handbrakes.

Some parents find it difficult to use, especially when it gets stuck. It needs to be pushed in before raising the lever to stop the stroller from moving.

“While you are using it, the handbrake might become caught and occasionally even break.”  –M. November 10, 2019, 2 stars

“I have to use two hands to lock the hand brake and sometimes two hands to unlock it since it gets caught in both places.” – S. May 12, 2018, 3 stars

Accessorize Your Baby Jogger City Tour Lux

There aren’t many accessories available for Baby Jogger’s new City Tour Lux. The carry bag is the only accessory that comes with this stroller. Some items like the carrycot, cup holder, bumper bar set, and glider board are available on Amazon. Third-party parent consoles and other attachments can also be bought from online marketplaces.

What parents say

“Everything about it is great, except I wish there was a belly bar.” – T. July 17, 2022, 5 stars

“The only drawbacks are that there is no parent tray or cup holder, and that folding and unfolding could be made a little easier, but these are not deal-breakers. I discovered an all-purpose cup and phone holder, which I will probably get to attach.” – S. June 25, 2021, 5 stars

“A child’s tray is only one of the few additions that may have made this stroller even better. For this stroller, I believe only the Baby Jogger belly bar with a child’s side pocket, as well as a parent cup holder and/or parent console, are suitable.” – M. June 15, 2018, 5 stars

Is the City Tour Lux Highly Recommended?

Though it says on Baby Jogger website that this particular model is discontinued by the company, you can still get this stroller from Amazon and other online stores.

There are five different seating positions on this stroller, so it may serve as your sole stroller from infancy through toddlerhood (with additional attachments). There is also a decent storage basket. The City Tour Lux is very light and portable for such a small, convertible, and multi-purpose stroller.

For parents with small homes or vehicles, this stroller can be folded up quite small. However, folding and unfolding the City Tour Lux is quite challenging, as many parents have mentioned in our survey.

Prices for the City Tour Lux start at $149.00 on Amazon. If you are on a tight budget, you may consider buying this stroller because of its overall functionality and expandability (e.g. by adding a glider board). However, if you are looking for something that is durable and more user-friendly, this might not be the stroller for you as many parents in our survey are not so happy with the way it performed in these aspects.

If you are a fan of Baby Jogger strollers, you may want to compare the City Tour Lux to their other models first and see which suits your family’s lifestyle and needs best.

Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Is a Streamlined Travel Stroller for Parents on the Go

We’ve been testing one for months, and here’s our honest review.

We independently evaluate all recommended products and services. If you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation. Learn more .

Baby Jogger City Tour 2

Verywell Family / Laura Denby

Maneuvers easily on different surfaces

Lightweight and compact folded

Reclines fully for naps

Minimal under-seat storage

No shoulder strap

Too large for most overhead bins

Though lacking some of the special features of a larger, everyday stroller, the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is a comfortable, compact, and easy-to-use stroller that makes traveling with a baby considerably easier.

Who It’s For

Maneuverability, portability, how we tested, the competition.

  • Final Verdict

If you’ve ever traveled with an infant or toddler, you know how important it is to pack strategically. Strollers are often the biggest challenge when it comes to packing for a baby. They’re essential, but they can be bulky and cumbersome to carry. They take up a ton of space in the trunk of a car and are often too large to carry on an airplane. If you travel often or have limited storage space at home, having a dedicated travel stroller can make life much easier. That’s why we decided to test travel strollers , including the Baby Jogger City Tour 2, in the lab and out in the real world.

The City Tour 2 is a dedicated travel stroller that folds up tightly, allowing for easier travel while still providing a smooth, comfortable ride for the child. This compact, 14.5-pound stroller fits into a convenient package that’s ideal for parents who don’t have the space—in the car or in the house—to store and transport a large stroller.

Our expert product testers put this stroller to use over the course of three months. First, we tested it alongside other leading travel strollers in the Verywell Testing Lab , where we evaluated everything from weight and size to maneuverability and durability. Next, we took it home and used it with an 11-month-old baby for everyday tasks like going to the grocery store, taking long walks, and quick trips to the beach. Our testers considered how it performed compared to standard strollers, and evaluated any special features that made it stand out. Most of all, we aimed to assess how convenient it is for parents, and how comfortable it is for babies.

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 folds easily into a compact package, so it’s ideal for families who travel often—by car, train, or airplane. It makes car travel easier by freeing up space in the trunk, and it’s easy to lift and carry with one hand. Like the name implies, this stroller can easily navigate crowded city streets or fold up when riding public transportation, so it’s an ideal option for families on the go. It’s great for smaller homes or apartments that can’t spare the extra space to store a bulky stroller. Keep in mind that it has minimal storage, so it won’t be able to hold groceries, a large backpack, or even some diaper bags. Overall, this is a great option for anyone looking for a smaller, more streamlined stroller that can be packed up and stowed away when not in use.

A stroller that babies can easily nap in is essential for travel, so the ability to recline is a crucial design feature. This stroller reclines with the push of one button, so a baby can sit up or lay back comfortably. The large sun canopy is UV 50+ with a mesh peekaboo window for shade and increased air flow on sunny days. The straps are adjustable, and the padded clasp is secure and easy to latch and unlatch. We love that it has adjustable calf support, so it can adapt to your baby’s growing legs. However, this streamlined stroller has minimal storage underneath the seat. In fact, our testers weren’t able to store a backpack or diaper bag in there, which can make traveling with bags more cumbersome. Also keep in mind that the handle doesn’t have adjustable heights. Overall, it scored a 4.5 out of 5 stars for design.

This stroller maneuvers exceptionally well across different surfaces, including grass, gravel, and carpet. In fact, our testers gave it a near-perfect 4.8 score for maneuverability. It’s easy to push and feels lightweight when doing so. Our testers barely notice the difference when transitioning from gravel to carpet or hardwood, so it provides a smooth ride with barely any bumps felt in the handle bar. The wheels turn quite well with a tight radius. The foot break is easy to latch and unlatch, providing extra convenience and safety.

During our lab test the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 received a 4.5 rating for overall portability. It folds up easily and doesn’t feel bulky. It almost feels like a briefcase when carrying it folded up by the handle. Although the stroller itself doesn’t have a shoulder strap, the included carry-bag does, so you can pack it up and have your hands free for other luggage and your child.

In order to fold the stroller, you lock the wheels then slide the thumb button and press the handle button using your remaining fingers. Then you push the handle bar into the canopy to collapse it into itself, and lock it into place using the lever. Folding the stroller is intuitive and takes just a few tries to get the hang of it. Our testers appreciated that it could be done with one hand (though at first it took two hands to lock it into place). Our at-home testers were able to fold it and unfold it while holding a baby in the other hand. Once folded, it’s easy to pick up and maneuver with one hand. The wheels detach for added portability, which means it can squeeze into even tighter spaces if needed.

To test this stroller, we considered a number of different attributes like weight, design, durability, portability, maneuverability, and how easy it is to fold. We tested it alongside competitors in our lab, and used it at-home over the course of three months to gain real-world insight. We first recorded things like weight and measurement, then ran the stroller through a number of tests to determine its overall functionality and performance.

First, we practiced opening and closing the stroller multiple times to determine how easy it is to fold. We considered any straps, buttons, or locks, and noted how intuitive or confusing it was to figure out. We paid particular attention to how easy it was to open and fold with one hand, considering the fact that most users will be holding a baby in the other hand. To test portability, we carried the stroller around using the included straps, and assessed whether or not they were comfortable, well-placed, and sturdy. To test maneuverability, we wheeled the stroller back and forth over carpet, gravel, hardwood flooring, and grass, then recorded its performance. To test durability, our testers folded up the stroller and dropped it from waist height, then we pushed it off a table. We recorded any signs of damage and took note of any changes in performance.

After the initial testing phase, we continued to use this stroller in everyday applications over the course of three months. Our home tester used this as her primary stroller on car trips and train trips, on long walks along the road, and on the beach. She put it to use traveling alone with an 11-month-old baby, and gained real-world insight into its efficacy as a functional travel stroller.

Verywell / Laura Denby

This is one of Baby Jogger’s most affordable strollers, and it retails for $250 at the time of this publication. Travel strollers are typically less expensive than standard strollers, but this is still one of the more cost-effective strollers we tested. Considering how easy it is to maneuver, how comfortable it is to use, and how easy it is to store, this is a fantastic value for the price.

Nuna TRVL Stroller

Our testers found the Nuna TRVL to be easier to fold up with one hand than the Baby Jogger City Tour 2. We loved how easy the buttons are to push. Like the Baby Jogger, we found it to be incredibly easy to maneuver on grass, gravel, and carpet. It’s slightly more compact than the Baby Jogger and can fit into a standard overhead bin in an airplane. Although it’s more compact, the TRVL is slightly heavier (15.4 pounds compared to the City Tour 2’s 14.5), which could be because it boasts more storage. The Nuna has a storage bin that’s large enough to accommodate a backpack or diaper bag. However, it’s considerably more expensive and retails for about $450 .

The City Tour 2 is a convenient and portable stroller that makes traveling with a baby much easier. It maneuvers expertly across different types of terrain and is easy to fold up and tote around, so we think it’s an incredible value for the price. It lacks some of the bells and whistles that larger strollers have—like extra storage, an extendable handle, and cup holder—but that doesn’t take away from its overall functionality as a streamlined travel stroller.

Baby Jogger City Tour LUX

baby jogger city tour vs lux

As featured in our list of the best travel systems!

At a glance:

The city tour pushchair folds small for big adventures. Suitable for children from 6 months to around 3 years, this nippy pushchair is designed for daily adventures, weekend road trips and even far-away flights. It features five riding modes, forward and rear-facing options, a one-handed folded, an auto lock and integrated carry strap for easy transport.

Would you recommend this to other mums?

Ritienne: I would recommend it because of its nice design, good build and because it's easy to use. It very easy to clean as well and the material seems to be good quality. It is easy to fold even with one hand. The toddler looks comfortable in it although for slightly older and taller kids the seat depth might be a bit short.

Sarah:  I would recommend this product because of how easily it folded and how easy it was to unfold too. I didn’t look at any instructions and it was so simple to work out how to do it. It was very light and therefore easy to steer one handed when needed. The seat was comfortable for my daughter and well padded. It also folded very small and I had a lot more room in the boot of my car than I normally would!

Amanda:  The Baby Jogger was lightweight and easy to use, which made it enjoyable to take out. The buggy folded up in half which meant that is was easy to put into both our small and larger car with plenty of space for other items when out for the day. The size of the buggy meant that getting in and out of shop door was easy as the buggy as a whole was not bulky.

How did this product make your life easier?

Paulina:  The pushchair is very easy to push and feels fairly lightweight. The pushchair folds easily together and fits well even in small boots. The seat is adjustable from sitting to lying. The baby sits upright and can hold onto the handlebar in front of him. The delivery contains a cupholder attachable to the baby's handlebar, which is a nice idea, but not necessarily practical. The hood covers low standing sun and makes a walk in the evening possible.

Katja:  The baby jogger city tour LUX is easy to fold and easy to steer. It has everything, car seat and carrycot. You need only one pushchair instead of buying another one for your toddler. The pushchair is light and robust. However, the wheels are small and not suitable for lawn and forest ground. It has a lot of features, which makes life easier. When the pushchair is folded, it is easy to carry. I do not get the cup holder. If it is for the child, it is badly designed. It is sideways and the child cannot get the bottle out.

Nicole:  The baby jogger city tour lux is such a great pram. As a mum, I want a pram that I can quickly put up and down, in and out of the car with ease. This pram does all of that and more. It makes a mums life easier as it’s so light to lift. You can put the strap on your shoulder while still negotiating a one-year-old to the car.

Would you choose this product to win?

Penny:  I would choose this product over others because it really is an all rounder! It looks great and works for a busy family life. I do think this product should be considered to win as the design is brilliant. The fact it goes into a backpack is absolutely fantastic! It works for anyone who has young babies to toddlers. I rate it ten out of ten!

Penny:  I would choose this product over others on the market because the price of the pram is really reasonable. It gives you a trendy pram that can be used from birth. It is easy to fold and store away in the house and car. It is cheaper than other prams where you do not get all of the fantastic features it brings. I think this product should win because it is affordable and meets all of a mothers and child's needs.

Lucy:  Although I found this pushchair quite heavy in weight, there are so many things that make it great. The design, the easy folding and putting back up again, the look of it as well as durability and sturdiness are brilliant. After using it for our holiday I didn't want to go back to our normal pushchair at home. Things just seem much easier with this pushchair which makes it a winner in my eyes!

What changes would you make to this product?

Véronique:  I would like it to be available in more colours. I would also like a centre bar between the back wheels to lever it over pavement curbs and a different handbrake. The hood does offer extra shade but it would be nice if the little one could see out via the sides to see the surrounding as my little one likes the peekaboo window at the top but is trying to push the hood back to see to the sides.

Penny:  I honestly do not think there is anything I would change about this pram. It is a great all rounder and meets all the requirements you would need for a young baby to a toddler. It caters for all! I really do think this is a winner. The accessories that come with it are great and do not think there is anything I would change about those either!

Emily: I would make the product to be more personalised. I would add more storage (a shopping bag, extra clips that are personalised to the buggy and smaller storage places for a phone etc). I would like a cup holder for my son's bottle. It would be great if the colours could be personalised. If you could change the colour of the handlebars and the colour of the hood and seat. The product is quite plain which in ways makes it look stylish and sleek but mums do like to have a buggy that feels personal to them.

Baby Jogger City Tour LUX 2020 Stroller Review

The modern market of products for infants is offering a gazillion of models of strollers dedicated to different ages of the youngest children. When I look at some of these products created by the leading brands, I become somewhat jealous of the parents who can afford buying a separate stroller with a bassinet for their babies and then, in five months, they start planning the next purchase of a stroller with a seat. Furthermore, they shop for an additional lightweight stroller for travelling by plane and another one for spending time in the country. There are so many attractive products, and, like any mom, I wish I could have an opportunity of trying all of them.

baby jogger city lux tour review

Still, it doesn’t matter how much you can pay for a stroller, as, in fact, a more sensible approach might be purchasing a multifunctional product which can be used in different circumstances and with children of different ages. If you are interested exactly in such a model of a baby carriage, you can check one of the latest versions of Baby Jogger City Tour, or, speaking precisely, the LUX model of 2020. Pay your attention to LUX in the name of the stroller as it is not just a slightly upgraded version of City Tour. There are actually many differences between these two variations of carriages offered by the same brand.

Baby Jogger City Tour LUX 2020 weight and dimensions

Before I tell you in details about the basic elements and additional accessories available for Baby Jogger City Tour LUX 2018, I would like to stop on its weight and dimensions. As for me, these features are paramount in any type of stroller. There are many parents who are ready to manage with a heavy weight of carriage unless it is highly functional and, if it is also not a great problem for you, you can skip this section and check the elements of the stroller in the first place.

baby jogger city tour lux main seat

I personally believe the weight and dimensions of a stroller can make a real difference as there were many situations in which I needed to handle a child and a stroller with our belonging on my own. For many mothers and fathers who are presumably stronger this is actually an everyday routine which means a heavy weight of a stroller can make you nervous even at a mere thought of a perspective of a walk with your child. That is why I see no point in making one’s life overcomplicated.

If you compare the weight of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX to the original City Tour stroller, you will see, the model released in 2018 is heavier than its predecessor. Yet, you should realise the weight of about 19.4 lbs is necessary for the frame of the stroller to be strong enough to carry a bassinet with a baby. Of course, because of this weight, you can’t call Baby Jogger City Tour LUX a lightweight stroller, albeit it’s definitely lighter than many other models of 3-in-one strollers .

When Baby Jogger City Tour LUX , it is featured with the following dimensions: 37 x 21 x 39 inches, but, believe me, you will be totally astounded by its compact size when it is folded!

The thing is, the designers of the latest version of City Tour have created their own system for folding a stroller which is now a patented technology. Due to this fact, a full-size conversable stroller get the dimensions of 24 x 21 x 11 inches just in several seconds. As a result, the form of this stroller’s fold is more like a fold of a small lightweight stroller rather than a folded 3-in-one baby carriage.

baby jogger city tour lux weight

In order to make the transport of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX even more convenient, the designers have added more extra features. They are a shoulder strap, an automatic lock and a handle . These features allow you to forget about any possible difficulties of going out alone with your child so you can simply enjoy the use of the stroller.

There is also one more nice bonus coming with Baby Jogger City Tour LUX! If you check its price on Amazon , you will see a special bag for transporting the folded stroller is included into the value of the travelling system. Trust me, such a bag is a nice addition to the stroller as you will be able to keep both the fold and your clothes clean.

The basic elements of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX

The knowledge of the fact Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is an upgraded version of Baby Jogger City Tour increases the demands of the parents who are interested in this model of strollers. The following sections of the review will show you whether Baby Jogger City Tour LUX will satisfy your conditions.

Seating options

Certainly, one of the most important parts of any type of a baby carriage is its seat. This is exactly the place where your child will be during a walk, so, there is no need to tell you how crucial the comfort of this stroller’s part is.

baby jogger city tour lux seat

As I’ve already mentioned, Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is a 3-in-one stroller which means it will provide your child with three seating options. If you are acquainted with the previous model of Baby Jogger City Tour, you should realise the prices of these products can’t be equal since the predecessor of City Tour LUX 2018 was a typical stroller with only one seat without a possibility of attaching a bassinet or an infant car seat. Thus, you should check exactly the price of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX 2020 on Amazon .

Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is a multifunctional stroller which will be suitable for both babies and toddlers. This model of a carriage allows you to attach a special carrycot providing a full laying position for the youngest children. Of course, if you check the assortment of prams available on the market today, you’ll see there is a great variety of strollers offering parents an opportunity to use them with a bassinet. Yet, there are two features of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX which make this one absolutely unique.

baby jogger city lux tour carrycot

The first feature is its weight which has already been discussed. The fact is, Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is lighter than 20 lbs which makes it especially light comparing to the weight of other 3-in-one prams.

Another feature is the bassinet of the stroller itself. The thing is, you will be able to fold it right with the frame of the stroller! There is absolutely no need for detaching this part before you fold it which makes Baby Jogger City Tour LUX incredibly comfortable for transportation. The only issue you should take into consideration is the fact the bassinet is sold separately. Still, you can easily find one on Amazon which is frequently offered with a discount.

Infant car seat

I’m sure you are a sensible parent who always use an infant car seat while travelling with your baby by car. Obviously, this part of the equipment for small kids is as important as a carrycot.

As you might know, the previous model of Baby Jogger City Tour has no option for attaching an infant car seat to the frame which means its owners have to travel with both a regular seat of the stroller and an infant car seat. This is not necessarily the most convenient way of going out, so the solution offered by the upgraded version of the stroller is undoubtedly far more better than the previous one.

baby jogger city tour lux car seat

Now, you can easily set an infant car seat to the frame of the pram and enjoy this convenient travel system . You do not need to take additional seat with you if you are sure you can make do just with a car seat this time.

If you are a parent of a toddler and you do not need a carrycot anymore, you will definitely like the idea it is not sold as a part of a package with the stroller itself. I find this solution just perfect as parents of children of different ages can benefit from Baby Jogger City Tour LUX.

So, in case your kid enjoy sitting, the latest version of City Tour will provide the child with a quite deep and spacious seat. This one can be reversed in a simple way, so as your child will be able to face not only you, but the world as well.

baby jogger city lux tour seat

I myself always pay attention to the level of reclining provided by strollers’ seat as it is really essential for kids. When they need a nap, they wish to stay in almost a complete laying position, whereas during the time of activity, the majority of them prefer sitting in an upright position. The seat of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX reclines pretty well offering comfortable positions for children. At the same time, you will be satisfied with an extremely simple way in which the seat of the stroller can be reclined just with one hand. In addition to it, the stroller has a special leg rest which can be adjusted according to the preferences of your kid.

I also should mention the restraining parts covered with comfy padding which will protect your child. Due to the special structure of the seat, it is suitable not only for toddlers, but also for the infants starting from three months of age! The maximum weight the seat can carry is 45 lbs.

Extra room for an older child

If your family is quite extended and you also have a bit older child who is still needs to have a rest on frequent occasion, you can be sure Baby Jogger City Tour LUX 2020 is a good option for you. The designers of the pram have also created Glider Board which can be easily attached to the frame of your stroller.

baby jogger city tour lux glider board

Such a board is ideal not only for older toddlers but also for pre-schoolers. Glider Board is also available on Amazon , so, if you might need one, you can estimate how much the entire travel system will cost.

Unlike many other all-in-one strollers, Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is featured with quite small wheels . As you might know, small wheels tend to wobble while driving over especially uneven terrains. Of course, this makes the model more suitable for the parents residing in cities, yet, the size of the wheels doesn’t influence their durability in a negative way. The tires of the stroller are made of polyurethane which makes them really strong and, at the same time, there is no need to pump them.

baby jogger city tour lux wheels

Manoeuvring this stroller is especially convenient owning to the pivoting front wheels which can also be locked once you need to pull it over less smooth surfaces. In addition to it, all of the wheels are featured with shock-absorbing suspension and this is even more important for the child travelling by this stroller.

Note the brake of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is located on the right side of the stroller’s handlebar as it is a handbrake. Still, it is not a typical handbrake of jogging strollers.

Although the stroller’s handlebar might mean nothing for your child, it is an important element of the pram for you. The parents whose height differs from the average values should pay particular attention to the convenience of handlebar.

baby jogger city tour lux handlebar

On the one hand, B aby Jogger City Tour LUX hasn’t got an adjustable handlebar which means you won’t be able to change its length. However, if you are not particularly tall or small, you will hardly feel any discomfort while pulling the stroller. On the other hand, there are special rubber rings on the grip of the handlebar making it really durable especially in comparison to typical foam handlebar paddings. Certainly, rubber rings also give you extra comfort of pulling the pram.

If you have seen or used the previous version of City Tour, you absolutely shouldn’t think its canopy is the same as the one used in Baby Jogger City Tour LUX . The latest version of the stroller has a far more larger canopy offering your child not only a greater shade and better protection against wind, but also more space. This means you will be able to use the stroller for a longer period of time as it will still be suitable for a bigger child .

All in all, there are three large panels in the canopy as well as an extra sun visor which can be easily flipped out. Additionally, the material of the canopy has UV filters.

baby jogger city tour lux canopy

Of course, I always recommend parent to check whether a canopy of a pram has a window. While your child will have more fresh air with such a window, you will be able to check the sleeping kid easily even if you unfold an entire canopy. When it comes to Baby Jogger City Tour LUX , I particularly like the magnets used for closing the window which make the process silent, so the child won’t be disturbed.

Storage space

Finally, storage space is also crucial for any stroller. Even if you are not planning to go around shops all the time, it is still good to be able to carry at least the belongings of your kid in the stroller.

Obviously, the smaller a pram is, the less storage place it has. It is especially true for the stroller with compact folds. Yet, Baby Jogger City Tour LUX has a sufficient storage basket with a weight limit of 15.4 lbs. The basket is quite spacious, so you will be able to carry some large things in it as well.

baby jogger city tour lux basket

Moreover, you will find an extra zippered pocket in the rear part of the storage basket. It is a comfortable place for carrying small items.

The most valuable things such as your keys, wallet and phone can be kept in the storage pocket located on the back part of the seat’s backrest.

Color versions of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX

If you are tired of greyish colors massively used by the manufacturers of modern strollers, you will be pleased to see such color versions of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX as Iris and Rosewood. As you can guess, Rosewood is a shade of a pink color, whereas Iris is a very nice blue color.

Those, who actually like the tints of the grey color, will find the Granite or Slate models of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX especially attractive.

Accessories for Baby Jogger City Tour LUX available on the market

I suppose, the LUX version of City Tour is really well-equipped, albeit, you might be interested in purchasing some extra elements. All of them can be bought on Amazon where you might also get a discount on particular occasions.

As I have already mentioned, Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is compatible with a carrycot which makes this stroller suitable not only for toddlers, but also for new-born babies. This carrycot is a genuinely unique product for small children as it can be folded while being attached to the frame of the stroller. Yet, your baby won’t feel any discomfort as Baby Jogger City Tour LUX Foldable Carrycot is still extremely convenient even for long walks.

I have also described Glider Board which will be useful for the parents of several children. This one can be securely attached to the frame of the stroller, so as your pre-schooler or older toddler will be able to enjoy your walks more.

Finally, you can get Cup Holder & Bumper Bar Set on Amazon which is a small, yet, nice addition to Baby Jogger City Tour LUX. The cup holder can be extended allowing to use it as a handy storage space for snacks. Your child might also wish to put there a toy.

Baby Jogger City Tour LUX – my conclusions

Needless to say, the new version of the City Tour strollers has multiple advantages, although there are still several issues which should be considered before purchasing this pram.

baby jogger city tour lux bassinet

What do I like about Baby Jogger City Tour LUX most of all?

  • Its multifunctional system. I personally prefer buying things which can be sued in multiple ways as it usually helps to save place at home and in the car as well as to save the budget and even to protect the planet against extra amounts of rubbish. For that reason, I really enjoy the idea Baby Jogger City Tour LUX can be used with a bassinet and is compatible with an infant car seat, whereas its regular seat is suitable for children starting from the age of only three months. Even though the carrycot is sold separately, I find it a good idea as well, as it allows parents of toddlers to buy the stroller without purchasing a bassinet which is completely useless in their case;
  • The quality of the main seat which can be easily reversed and reclined, just as you need it;
  • Its unique abilities for folding. I know, I’m repeating it one more time – the fold of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX is the most compact one I’ve ever seen in 3-in-one strollers and its carrycot can also be folded even when it is attached to the frame of the stroller;
  • A large storage basket which is quite unusual for such compact strollers;
  • A generous canopy with a window which can be opened and closed with no noise;
  • An opportunity to attach a board for an older sibling;
  • Beautiful color versions including not only standard grey models, but also blue and pink ones.

Despite all these positive sides of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX , considering the following issues:

  • the stroller has rather small wheels which means you will have problems while using it on rather uneven surfaces;
  • the handlebar can’t be adjusted to the height of the person using it;
  • you might not be able to keep it in the airplane overhead compartment.

Taking into consideration all these facts about Baby Jogger City Tour LUX , I will definitely recommend it to the parents of the new-born babies who wish to purchase a reliable multifunctional stroller which can be used not only with a regular seat, but also with an infant car seat as well as with a carrycot. Undeniably, you will enjoy the compact fold not only of the frame of the stroller, but also of its bassinet and will be able to use the pram without any difficulties due to its relatively light weight. You will especially benefit from the purchase of Baby Jogger City Tour LUX if you are a city-dweller.

Finally, if you are also thinking about a possibility of getting the previous version of City Tour, I suppose, the major factor determining the choice is the age and physical condition of your child. If your kid doesn’t use an infant car seat anymore and can spent several hours in a sitting position, the purchase of original City Tour can be also useful for you, however, the parents of infants will find Baby Jogger City Tour LUX more useful (see the current price and the discounts available) .

Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Folded

You may know Baby Jogger as the innovative brand that offer 3-wheeler, all-terrain jogging pushchairs to help parents keep active with their babies. As well as offering a great range of 3-wheelers, Baby Jogger have an ever-growing range of 4-wheel pushchairs for everyday use.

The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is the updated version of the Baby Jogger City Tour , adding an option to attach a carrycot, making it truly a lightweight pushchair to be used from birth. Without the carrycot (sold separately, £120) it remains an easy-to-use and even easier to store buggy, that can be opened and collapsed quickly and gives your child a comfortable ride about town. However, don’t be misled by the name, this is not a pushchair suitable for jogging with. If you want to get active, consider the Cybex Avi jogging stroller , £475.95 or the Bumbleride Speed jogging buggy , £499, instead.

Awarded Silver in the Best Lightweight Stroller category of the MadeForMums Awards 2022, it packs a lot of great features into its small package.

Helen is mum to 2 boys aged 7 months and 3-and-a-half years. She tested the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 mainly with the baby in her hometown in Surrey, including on public transport.

What are your first impressions of the Baby Jogger City Tour 2?

The pushchair came in one pleasingly small box, neatly folded with just the wheels to add before use. Instructions are provided in picture form, to help you work out all the different positions as well as how to open and close it. They weren’t the simplest to follow, but there are plenty of online guides available if you’re struggling.

Baby Jogger City Tour 2

How easy is it to build?

Very. The wheels come separately but they just need to be clicked in to place.

How does the City Tour 2 compare to the City Tour?

The big change with this model, compared to the previous Baby Jogger City Tour, is that this time you can attach a carrycot, (sold separately, £120 ) to make it suitable from birth. The other change is that the carry bag provided is not a backpack this time, but a light bag that you would carry over your shoulder or in your hand.

How easy is the City Tour 2 to push and steer?

Very – it’s an absolute dream to push! The 2 front wheels swivel, making it incredibly easy to steer and my 3-and-a-half-year-old also enjoyed pushing his brother around in the park.

One of the real benefits for me, was being able to push the baby in the pushchair with one hand while holding his big brother’s hand, which was particularly useful in busy streets and the shopping centre. The joy of the one hand push was also praised by many parent reviews on the Baby Jogger website, too.

With the baby, going up and down kerbs, even the larger kind, was no problem because the pushchair is so light, and you don’t need to push down very hard at the back to make the wheels lift.

Even with my older son in the pushchair, it felt light to push – although naturally the extra weight meant a bit more of a workout for me when it came to larger kerbs.

The wheels are not made for rough terrain and, while small areas and grass weren’t a problem for us, due to the lightness of the buggy, I’m not sure they would last too long if you tried to do many trips off the beaten track.

How lightweight is it to carry around?

I tended to use it going out from home or the car, so I didn’t need to carry it far. However, it is easy to transport as it has a handle, or you can put it in the carry bag provided for longer journeys. At just 6.5kg – similar to the LeClerc Magic Fold Plus Stroller , £359, at 6.6kg, or the Didofy Aster , £275, at 6.2kg – it’s light to pick up and simple to lift inside the boot.

Does the Baby Jogger City Tour 2’s seat lie-flat?

Like most pushchairs in this category, it doesn’t lie completely flat, so isn’t suitable for babies under 6 months (unless used with the carrycot), but I was pleasantly surprised at how close to flat it got. My baby son certainly liked it, and we both enjoyed one of his best naps, with him falling asleep almost instantly after I lowered it and not waking for nearly 2 hours! The large hood also helped to keep him in cosy darkness.

Baby Awake and Asleep in Baby Jogger City Tour 2

How easy is the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 to fold?

The one-handed folding mechanism is one of the main selling-points of this pushchair – in fact, it’s what the majority of the parent reviews online cite as the main reason they opt for the Baby Jogger City Tour 2.

The first part is easy and has a simple to use lever in the push bar, which you can move with your thumb while pushing forward to make the pushchair fold.

You then grab the carry handle to pull the whole thing together and then attach the clasp to keep it shut. It took me some practice to do this and, while I managed to fold it down using one hand, despite several attempts, I found it impossible to attach the final clasp single handed.

I found unfolding it even trickier, as you have to remember to open up the front wheels before you start pulling it into place. Several times I tried to use my leg to nudge it open instead, which just meant bruising my shin. However, once I got the hang of it, I found it a quick and painless process.

How compact is the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 when folded?

This was one of the highlights of the product for me. It folds very small (L:25xW:49.5xH:59cm) which means it fits easily inside even small car boots, with room to spare. This truly is a compact fold, similar to the Micralite ProFold Graphite at L:24xW:44xH:51.5cm, and the Joolz Aer at L:21.5xW:45xH:53.5cm.

I was even able to store the pushchair in the front seat of my car (a Seat Leon) which was brilliant when I went away for a few days with both boys, as it freed up the boot space for our luggage and their many bags of toys!

Storing it flat is great, but I would have liked to be able to stand it upright at home, especially as that is how it is shown in some of the marketing photos. I found if I didn’t prop it up at a certain angle next to a wall, it would simply slide down and clatter to the floor, so I ended up storing it flat, which took up more space.

Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Folded on Front Seat

How well does it work on public transport?

I used the pushchair on the bus with the baby inside with no problems. Even when the driver didn’t park very close to the kerb, getting it on and off was a breeze compared with the larger travel system I am used to, because it is so easy to lift up onto the step.

Its size and ease of movement meant I was also able to manoeuvre it down the aisle and back into position to ensure there was space for a wheelchair user on one of our journeys. My baby son slept through both journeys in the lie-flat position too, so clearly found it very comfortable.

What’s the chassis like on the Baby Jogger City Tour 2?

The chassis is black matt with shiny circles on areas that fold, with the brand name printed on them adding extra design and interest.

It felt very sturdy despite being lightweight. I did find the material had a few scratches after just a few days of use, but these were relatively minor and didn’t spoil the look of the pushchair too severely.

How do you rate the buggy handle?

The main thing to note is that you cannot adjust the height, which may be a deal-breaker for some potential buyers.

I found it very comfortable, but at 5ft 4ins I’m at the lower end of average height so those with longer legs may not be so impressed. My husband, at 5ft 8ins, said it was a little low for his liking.

However, it is padded and comfortable to hold and push and only needs the lightest touch to move.

What do you think of the seat unit on the Baby Jogger City Tour 2?

The City Tour 2 is front-facing only, so my 7-month-old had the chance to look out on the world earlier than my older son did with our travel system. He really seemed to enjoy it, looking around with interest at everything around him.

The seat itself was great for a 7-month-old, but an older child may prefer it to sit a bit more upright than it was possible to do with this seat. My 3-and-a-half-year-old doesn’t particularly enjoy sitting in pushchairs anymore but did try it out and liked the novelty of being pushed, particularly over bumpy pavements.

I found the 5-point harness simple to use it, although I imagine it could be a bit fiddly to connect with a wrigglier passenger or in a rush.

I appreciated the adjustable calf support, not always a feature of lightweight pushchairs, which really helped make both children look and feel more comfortable. My older son, who is above average height, liked the support, although his legs did still dangle over the edge. It is very easy to adjust with a simple lever underneath to push the seat up or down.

Is it easy to adjust the seat on the buggy?

I didn’t particularly like the mechanism for lowering and raising the Baby Jogger City Tour 2’s seat to and from the lie-flat position, as I found the toggle system stiff to move and difficult to operate without looking at it, which meant kneeling behind the pushchair to see it properly.

While I was able to lower it with my baby sitting inside, it was far more difficult to raise it again once he’d woken up and was keen to see the world again.

Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Upright

Is the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 easy to clean?

My baby is fully embracing finger foods at the moment, and sticky fingers left a bit of a mess on a couple of occasions, but the smooth material was easy to clean with a damp cloth. You can also remove the seat cover to machine wash on cold or on a delicate cycle, and the wheels and plastic or metal parts are easy enough to wash with warm water and mild soap if you need to.

What’s the hood like?

The hood is a decent size and comes down fairly far over the seat. We were lucky to enjoy a few sunny days when I was testing the pushchair, but it didn’t quite shield my younger son from the glare of the sun as he sat quite low in the chair, being just a young baby. My older boy was more covered by the hood, which provides UV50+ coverage on hot days.

I particularly loved the mesh peephole at the top, which meant I could see my baby’s little head moving around, taking in his surroundings. Crucially, it also meant I could see when he started to loll forward to go to sleep, avoiding having to keep walking round to check. This was a real selling point of the pushchair for me and sped up our journeys.

What are the wheels like on the Baby Jogger City Tour 2?

The wheels are small and made of rubber composite, with suspension only in the front two, which makes them unsuitable for really rough terrain but brilliant for going about town and trips to the shops.

There are quite a lot of uneven pavements near me, but the City Tour 2 handled them beautifully and neither my baby nor my older son seemed to mind a slightly bumpy ride.

You can set the front wheels to straight if required, but I found the swivel feature so convenient for manoeuvring round obstacles and narrow pavements I kept it on this setting for each journey.

How good are the brakes?

The brake is positioned on the back-right wheel and operated with your foot. I found it worked excellently, holding the pushchair firmly in place. Even on the bus I didn’t need to worry about it sliding about when the driver braked firmly or turned a sharp corner.

My only gripe is that you have to release it using the upper side of your shoe to push the brake upwards, rather than pushing it down at the back with the sole, as on other models, which I don’t think will do my suede boots much good in the long term!

Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Basket and Brake

How do you rate the basket on the Baby Jogger City Tour 2?

The basket isn’t massive, but it makes good use of the space available, making up for its lack of height with its length. I was able to store useful items like my phone, purse, water bottles and snacks, as well as fit in a few bits of non-bulky shopping. It has a weight allowance of 6.8kg, which is pretty decent.

I do have a tendency to overfill, so I did find that a couple of things spilled out, but if you’re sensible, you should be able to store what you need with no issues. The big win is that you can access the basket from the back, front and side of the pushchair, making it easy to see what you need without having to root around.

What’s in the box?

Additional accessories.

  • Carrycot and attachments
  • Parent console
  • Glider Board

What would you have liked to have known about the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 before purchasing?

I would definitely have liked to know that the pushchair is front-facing only and there is no raincover provided, as well as the fact the handle is not height-adjustable.

Who would the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 be most useful for?

I think this would work best as a second pushchair for trips away, especially to towns and cities, and for local journeys, including on public transport.

Is the Baby Jogger City Tour 2 worth the money?

Although at the expensive end of the lightweight buggy price range, I’d say yes; the convenience of the compact size and the sheer joy of its manoeuvrability make it worth the spend.

How does it compare to similar pushchairs?

Where can i buy the baby jogger city tour 2.

Available at Kiddies Kingdom and Pramworld .

MadeForMums verdict:

A fabulous pushchair, perfect for trips into town and short trips away. It really fulfils its brief of being lightweight, compact, nippy and simple to use, and it’s probably the most manoeuvrable pushchair I’ve ever used. I would recommend it to parents looking for a second buggy, especially for packing in the car for holidays when space is at a premium.

CONFIGURATIONS

One of the major differentiators of  the City Select LUX  vs. the competition is that it not only converts from a single to a double stroller, it boasts  the most configurations  EVER  in a convertible stroller . With 20 different possibilities, you can take one sleeping baby shopping or let twin toddlers entertain (or ignore!) each other, depending on their mood.

Just look at all the possibilities:

Your  City Select LUX  comes with a single seat, but we love that this stroller can also work with most infant car seats using their optional compatible  car seat adapters , as well as their  deluxe pram  cot  with a soft, quilted interior and UV 50+ sun protection, and  second seat kit  options.

The seats fold flat quickly and easily to stow the stroller in your trunk. We especially love that the stroller folds keeping the seat interiors safely hidden in the middle, so they’re clean and ready to roll for the next ride.

The seats themselves come in six upscale fabric colors including Slate, Ash and Granite for those that love gray, as well as Taupe, Indigo and, our favorite, Port. The seat material is soft with a high-end feel and offers a mesh viewer (versus the common plastic) which provides great visibility and airflow for your little passengers.

For bigger riders, baby jogger offers a brand new  bench seat  (only compatible with the LUX) which can hold a child up to 65lbs. This bench seat and included footrest attach easily to the  LUX’s frame , and are positioned in a way so that your big kid can get in and out by themselves. Kids just love this seat!

There’s also a fun  glider board  accessory that attaches to the rear axle of the stroller and simply flips up when not in use (you can even fold the stroller while it’s still attached!). With the glider board, you can feasibly transport three children with the LUX!

FRAME/STOWABILITY

The  City Select LUX  offers simple, compact fold ‘n’ go stowing and, when folded, is an impressive 30% smaller than the brand’s original City Select. As you lift the handles, the stroller folds neatly and locks automatically, ready to go wherever you’re headed.

Want the nitty-gritty numbers? We’ve got you covered:

Single-Configuration Stroller Weight: 28 lbs

Double-Configuration Stroller Weight: 34 lbs

Single-Configuration Stroller Length: 43.5”

Double-Configuration Stroller Length: 53”

Folded Dimensions: 30”L x 26”W x 12.5”H

Handle Height: 38.5” – 42.5” (this is super cool for tall parents!)

Rear Wheels: 12”

Front Wheels: 8”

Seat Width: 12”

Seat Height (to Canopy): 24”

Length: 43.4”

So now you know the basics, how does it feel to actually push the  City Select LUX ? Surprisingly light and comfortable, thanks to a couple smart features:

  • Taller parents rejoice: the handlebar telescopes, making it easy to adjust your hand-height for more comfortable pushing.
  • A simple, hand-operated decelerating and parking brake make it easy to get your LUX to stay put without fidgeting around with your feet for a lock.
  • All Wheel suspension tires, with the ability to lock the swiveling front tires, mean you can safely push your LUX pretty much anywhere.
We give a gold star to the LUX’s deep basket, which extends beyond the feet of your single-seat rider and keeps their snack cups and loveys from becoming roadkill!

FAVORITE ACCESSORIES

Like many strollers, the brand offers optional accessories like a  belly bar  and  child tray . But they also offer some fun add-ons that aren’t so standard. Here are some of our favorites:

baby jogger city tour vs lux

Shopping Tote : this is genius! Using built in connectors, the shopping tote snaps securely in either the front or back of your single-rider and holds an impressive 10lbs of groceries (or toys!) so you can run errands with ease.

Cup Holder : while a cup holder may not seem like a super unique accessory, the  City Select LUX cup holder  is made of an attractive leatherette and features an expandable design to hold a variety of sized bottles and cups (even a Venti Starbucks!) and can handle up to 2lbs of weight.

Parent Console : we love the covered storage, additional cup holder and (maybe most of all) the mesh front pocket for your phone or music.

THE BIG QUESTION: HOW MUCH IS THIS BAD BOY GOING TO SET YOU BACK?

The  City Select LUX  retails at $629-$649 before any accessories. While this is a significant price tag, we’d most definitely put the LUX in the same category as other upscale strollers which command up to and over $1000 when all’s said and done.

With strollers being one of the most used baby gear items, we definitely recommend making the investment on a quality one you’ll love for years, and with the many configurations offered by the  City Select LUX , it’s a great choice that can grow with your family.

GT pros: all terrain, one step fold, adjustable handlebar, easier to brake. GT cons: bigger & heavier, seat is not as upright so LO is usually sitting awkwardly hanging on the belly bar, smaller basket. Tour Lux pros: smaller & lighter, flat seat and more upright, bigger basket, travel bag, I mean really this stroller is meant for travel.
