Because of their large size, they offer a robust range jobs, resources, and benefits to travelers. In fact, you’ll start receiving benefits on your first day of work, and they provide you with flexible housing options.

So, let’s explore the pros and cons of this company to help you decide if they can help you reach your travel social work goals.

While some assignments don’t pay quite as much as other agencies, you should still be able to earn a competitive wage. Additionally, you’ll get help with credentialing and housing.

Along with the relatively large number of openings, there are also opportunities in a large range of states. As of this writing, 18 different states had openings, from California and Colorado to Oklahoma and Maryland.

One of nicest perks of travel social work with Club Staffing, Med Travelers, and AMN Healthcare is that you get access to benefits on your first day of work. They provide a wide array of benefits, including:

First, you can find housing yourself and receive a tax-free housing stipend. You’ll also get weekly compensation for meals and other incidentals in addition to your hourly pay rate.

The second option is to let the company do it for you. A specialist from their housing department can find furnished housing that fits your needs. Better yet, they’ll secure the housing agreement and pay the monthly rent.

Like the first option, you still receive weekly compensation for meals and incidentals in addition to your hourly pay.

If you want, you can also bring your pets and family along with you to assignments. Just bear in mind that there is a non-refundable pet fee.

The only potential downside we found to working with Club Staffing, AMN Healthcare, and Med Travelers is that the pay for contracts didn’t look quite as competitive as some other agencies.

While we’ve seen other companies off upwards of $2,500 to over $3,000 per week, these agency’s high-end contracts tended to cap around $2,200 per week.

However, we should note that most other agencies typically only feature a few contracts, if any, above $2,200 per week. Additionally, the majority of contracts listed by this company appear to pay at least $1,600 per week as of this writing, which seems to be on par with other staffing companies.

While there are some lower-paying contracts offering only $1,200 per week, other agencies also have some of these lower-paying assignments. In fact, some agencies have contracts offering even less money than this.

Finally, remember to keep in mind that compensation isn’t everything. You should also consider benefits, as well as professional development opportunities. After all, if you can get the right experience, you may be a candidate for those $3,000 per week assignments later on.

While reviews for AMN, Med Travelers, and Club Staffing specifically for social work are sparse, the few we saw were positive.

For example, one travel Medical Social Worker on Indeed wrote:

“Club Staffing is a great staffing company that takes care of their travelers. The recruiters are helpful, considerate and committed to the success of the traveler. The parent company AMN Medical staffing is also committed to the success of their travelers, they have a commitment to the travelers and a staff of capable employees who are available to assist the traveler with any work-related issues that may come up while traveling.” -August 16, 2019

Another review from a Social Worker on Indeed was still positive, but did mention minor organizational mishaps:

I was lucky because I was able to secure an assignment with Stanford Healthcare which has been one of the best opportunities. I worked with a great team, supportive management all while meeting amazing people which I will never forget. I am so grateful for this experience that club staffing provided me. I had a great recruiter who was always pleasant. Now, there were some issues which were more organizational such as not receiving my timecard on a weekly bases and overtime pay but besides this, it was overall a positive experience. -September 3, 2014

However, it’s worth noting that this review is quite old, and may not still be reflective of the travel social work company. For example, time cards have largely been replaced by digital tracking methods.

Overall, Club Staffing, AMN Healthcare, & Med Travelers can make a great choice when selecting a travel social work agency.
