While scrolling through social media , we get a lot of inspiration from celebrities’ lives and residences. Whether for inspiration or out of curiosity, we all enjoy peeking inside their homes. Stars and other high-net-worth people’s mansions, private residences, and apartments are given a glimpse of architectural inspiration because of the extraordinary design. From the luxury interior to the closets; landscape design to the swimming pool , the beautiful designs of these residences inspired us. This article features Zoë Kravitz House i.e., Pound Ridge and Williamsburg residences. Zoë Kravitz is the daughter of a celebrity couple. His father, Lenny Kravit, opened Kravitz Design Inc. in 2003, a design firm.

A Wood-Clad New York State Retreat | Zoë Kravitz House

The New York State Retreat is a $1.24 million-dollar house. It was originally an 18th-century cider mill. Later, it was restored and renovated into a two-bedroom house. It also includes two acres of private land packed with trees. Zoë Kravitz purchased this home in Pound Ridge , New York from model and actor Maggie Q. The house sits above the beautiful landscape , surrounded by a stunning environment. The back of the property includes a large garden. There is an alfresco dining area. The whole building looks like a rustic beast in a forest packed with trees, but the rustic look blends nicely with nature. On top of that, it is a mystical house with a history.

The interior design of this house is based on a barn-style interior with a rural vibe and comfortable living spaces. The house is designed with open-plan habitual spaces such as living, dining, and kitchen, and it is the heart of the residence. Properly planned public, semi-public and private spaces add more value to the design The double-height living areas are outfitted with a small fireplace and comfortable furniture. The colour scheme of the living room is dark. Additionally, the light and shade balanced the entire room. The flooring in the living room is designed using dark wood.

The kitchen interior was built with an elegant quality design with a modern twist. The kitchen area was flooded with sufficient day lighting for the user. The wood-clad kitchen mixes contemporary with rustic character. A long peninsula provides a large prep surface without spoiling the function. Beyond the kitchen, the peninsula is the principal dining area. Each space like the kitchen, dining and living is united by open planning.

The master bedroom features a large bed and a private lounge area. The private sitting room is created with a lovely view of the garden in mind. The master suite, furnished with a rustic material palette and the proper accessories, catches our attention.

The top-floor bedroom, which serves as a secondary bedroom, has a sloping ceiling and sash windows in the walls. The interior of the bedroom contains a pendant fixture hanging on the ceiling. Kravitz seems to prefer charmingly unusual living spaces—according to Dirt. One side of the wall is utilized as a storage area, with short ladder-like access that makes everything easily accessible. The room also includes a private sitting area.

The bathroom is nestled against a large window in a bathing area with a copper bathtub. Furthermore, the window provides views of the rugged environment outside. In the bathroom interior, rustic symbols and natural materials are combined. The ensuite bathroom is spacious, with a wet-room shower and a solo soak tub.

Williamsburg house living room

Zoë Kravitz Williamsburg’s house living room was posted on Instagram by her famous interior designer, Ryan Korban , who commented, “Proud of that living room.” The gorgeous minimalist living room in the background contains simple furniture with a plush couch, a few side tables and a tan abstract rug. furthermore, design has the characteristics of feature essentials, emptiness, infinite space, limited colours, and simplicity . Zoë Kravitz’s personal choice of the interior is a simple design with the right accessories in the interior.

What more could one want to enjoy the golden hour in their own home? These minimalist-designed bedrooms are an example of this. The cosy interior space and the usage of neutral palettes in this bedroom design . In conclusion, Zoë Kravitz’s room is a minimalism lover’s heaven.

The selection of the material pallet is minimal and with cosy furniture . The elements, like the Moroccan rug and cream-coloured light furniture, added more aesthetics to the interior. The interior plants add visual balance to the interior. The neutral-coloured comfy lounge chair is designed with no visible legs. Low-profile furniture is added to preserve the beautiful view outside the room. A few pieces of minimal artwork and home décor were carefully added to the space. 

For a building to be in harmony with its surroundings, the architect should take inspiration from both the urban and natural environments. Ultimately, Zoë Kravitz house are just out of this world for their form, scale, materiality and overall composition for an appropriate design that fits into the place.

Zoe Kravitz Paid $1.45 Million for a Charming Pound Ridge Home

Zoe kravitz bought the serene westchester escape in an off-market deal over the summer..

Zoe Kravitz has added a charming home to her real estate portfolio. The actress scooped up an idyllic two-bedroom, three-bathroom abode in the Pound Ridge enclave of New York’s Westchester County , for which she paid $1.45 million.

Kravitz, who finalized her divorce from Karl Glusman over the summer, purchased the 2,592-square-foot retreat in an off-market deal at the beginning of June, as first reported by Dirt . The home was sold by actress Maggie Q , who had owned the sprawling two-acre estate since 2013.

A stone pathway leads to the front door of the barn-inspired house. The home features wood beams, columns and hardwood floors throughout; the sleek open kitchen is surely the most modern space, with stainless steel appliances, marble countertops, wood cabinetry and bar seating. It’s adjacent to an open dining and living area with a fireplace, and also leads to an al fresco nook with a picnic table-style dining space.

The primary loft-like bedroom appears to span a full floor; the airy space contains a fireplace, separate living area, dressing room and a tiled bathroom with a copper-colored freestanding soaking tub. The other bedrooms are much smaller, encompassing cozy nooks in the house.

The expansive property is filled with plenty of tall trees for peak privacy, as well as various seating and lounging spaces amidst the greenery. There’s also a small bridge over a little stream.

Kravitz is primarily based out of Brooklyn, where she purchased a sprawling 3,000-square-foot Williamsburg apartment in a converted warehouse for $3.2 million in 2015. Perhaps she’s decided she wants a getaway from the city, though, and plans on using her new Pound Ridge estate as an escape from the hectic area…or maybe she’s just ready to take a break from the local group of Williamsburg moms that apparently have a full text chain in order to attempt to spot the actress and Channing Tatum out and about in the neighborhood.

Zoe Kravitz Buys Charming Westchester County Retreat for $1.45M

‘Big Little Lies” star Zoë Kravitz has found a truly enticing getaway home. The actress quietly purchased a Westchester County retreat from the actress Maggie Q for $1.45 million in an off-market deal, Dirt reports.

Maggie Q had owned the home in Pound Ridge, NY , since 2013, when she picked it up for $1,230,850.

It’s easy to see the star appeal of this residence.

A former cider mill, built in the 1800s, the rustic two-bedroom structure offers 2,592 square feet of living space.

Known as Aaron Wood’s Mill, the property is set over a scenic stream. A restoration incorporated richly aged barn wood, hand-hewn beams, wide-plank floors, and a vaulted ceiling.

The soaring great room features a stone fireplace and dark wood flooring, as well as multiple windows from which to admire the natural landscape.

The adjacent modern kitchen contains up-to-date touches such as a long center island, wood-clad ceiling, and open shelves. The modern updates are nevertheless a harmonious fit with the antique vibe of the home.

Upstairs, the charming master bedroom connects to a serene bathroom with a soaking tub. A mezzanine overlooks the main living space.

The woodsy grounds on over 2 acres include towering trees, a lawn, a wrought-iron bridge, and waterfall.

Kravitz, 32, who co-starred in “Rough Night,” apparently won’t have to travel far to spend time in her vacation property. Her  new getaway is only a two-hour drive from her $3.2 million Brooklyn loft in Williamsburg .

Kravitz certainly needs a place where she can enjoy some down time from her busy career. The Los Angeles native has taken on the role of Catwoman in the upcoming DC Universe movie “The Batman.” She is also about to try her hand at directing with the film “Pussy Island,” with Channing Tatum .

Zoë Kravitz is starring in the new television series Big Little Lies, but we're here to tell the truth: The actress's bedroom is a minimalist's dream. Zoe Kravitz shared a selfie on Instagram for a special reason, but we couldn’t help but notice her gorgeous living room in the background as she did.

The Big Little Lies star was glowing in the snap and wore some of her twists pulled up into a rainbow-colored hair tie and off of her face, putting her flawless skin on display. She also gave fans a glimpse of her gorgeous minimalist living room in the background, revealing a plush couch, tan abstract rug, and small side tables.

Zoe posted the snap to celebrate Pride Day, which fell on June 28. “Proud AF. HAPPY PRIDEEEEEEEEEEEE,” she captioned the photos.

“Proud of that living room,” interior designer Ryan Korban wrote in her comments. “hahahhaahhahahah you should be,” Zoe replied. 

Zoe’s selfie came just a few days after she revealed on Instagram that MGM picked up her upcoming flick Pussy Island, which will mark her directorial debut. Zoe and E.T. Feigenbaum wrote the film, which will star Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum, according to Deadline .

Zoe was thrilled to announce her film  Pussy Island  had been picked up by MGM

The actress told the media outlet the role she wrote for the lead actress was one she would have loved to play if she wasn’t directing the film. “I am honored to be partnering with an iconic studio such as MGM for this project,” she said. “Their commitment to the art of storytelling is something that I truly admire and respect. Naomi Ackie is an extraordinary talent and we can’t wait to see her bring this role to life.”

Zoë Kravitz Lives Life on Her Own Terms

The actor, musician, writer and (now) director has stopped reading the comments and tuning into herself..

I didn’t anticipate Zoë Kravitz being so open about her family early on in our conversation—especially considering that she is in her own lane and this is 100 percent her moment. But I quickly realize that this is a woman who possesses acute self-awareness. It’s nearly impossible to think of a scenario in which the daughter of iconic rock star Lenny Kravitz and actor and eternal beauty Lisa Bonet wouldn’t keep it real—particularly when it comes to owning who she is.

When she was in her early 20s, she was self-conscious about her last name and what came with it. “People would always assume that if I got a job, it was because of that,” says Kravitz, who is now 33, shortly after we meet at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. “That was hard. But I was incredibly privileged. I got an agent easily. I’m not going to pretend that it didn’t help me get into the room. But I had to remember that I worked hard and as a child I was putting on performances in my grandparents’ house. And it had nothing to do with who my family was; it was because I loved it.” Over time, she says, embracing her unique path has been about wanting to prove to not only the world but also herself that she “deserve[s] to take up space in the industry.” “I’m proud of where I come from. Now it’s nice to be in a place where I feel like when people ask me about my parents, I’m not like, ‘Let’s not talk about that.’ I’m like, ‘They’re awesome. I’m grateful to be their child. And I’m also my own human being.’”

This vantage point is very Kravitz: genuine, unapologetic and not here for anyone’s idea of who she should be—even if she’s still trying to figure out who that is. “There’s a lot of beauty in surrendering to the fact that you have no idea what’s going on,” she says with a smile. While this may be true, there aren’t many of us who make uncertainty look so cool. When she arrives for our interview, Kravitz is dressed in a grey The Row T-shirt, black jeans, an oversized black blazer from designer boutique Egg in London, England, and Soda platform wedge sandals. Her thin braids hang over her shoulders, and she is makeup-free except for a hint of glittery bronze eyeshadow. In her hand is a black Saint Laurent Hobo bag. She’s been a face of Saint Laurent since 2017. “It’s badass stuff,” she says of the brand’s pieces. “I’ve always felt very in touch with my masculine side, and that’s something that the brand has always embraced. So, to me, that’s really cool and sexy.”

“ I’m proud of where I come from. Now it’s nice to be in a place where I feel like when people ask me about my parents, I’m not like, ‘Let’s not talk about that.’ I’m like, ‘They’re awesome. I’m grateful to be their child. And I’m also my own human being.’ ”

It’s been a little under seven years since Kravitz and I last sat down for an interview, but the actor is just as I remember. She talks particularly fast when she gets excited. “Is that Larry David?” she blurts out while eyeing a fellow diner. “That looks like Larry David, but it’s not Larry David. Do you see what I’m talking about? I would die if that were him. I’m obsessed.” She’s just as sweet, stylish, mellow and motivated—only now there’s more grit behind those pretty brown eyes. In 2019, in a custom Alexander Wang gown, she wed actor Karl Glusman at her father’s Parisian townhouse. Eighteen months later, she filed for divorce. Although a chapter of her romantic life was closing, her career was heating up.

She’d emerged as an actor with supporting roles in blockbusters like 2011’s X-Men: First Class , 2014’s Divergent and 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road after taking acting classes at the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Purchase College in New York. But she later earned acclaim for her role in HBO’s Big Little Lies , in which she starred alongside Oscar winners Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern. Her turn as record-store owner Rob in Hulu’s 2020 series High Fidelity continued to stretch her range, as she was not only the show’s lead but also one of its executive producers and writers. The series was cancelled after one season, which led Kravitz to call out Hulu for the lack of diversity in its programming. “It’s cool. At least Hulu has a ton of other shows starring women of colour we can watch. Oh wait,” she wrote in an Instagram comment. “They didn’t realize what that show was and what it could do,” says Kravitz now between sips of Aperol spritz. “The amount of letters, DMs, people on the street and women that look like us…like, that love for the show, it meant something to people. It was a big mistake [to cancel it].”

Despite that setback, Kravitz’s career hasn’t slowed down. Most recently, she stars as Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman) opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman , directed by Matt Reeves. When her agent called her about the role in late 2019, Kravitz remembers, she said to herself, “Okay, don’t get excited.” “One thing I’ve had to learn from an early age is that when you get attached, it’s hard, and most of the time you don’t get the part,” she adds. “So my instinct is always to say [to myself], ‘It’s not mine.’” Kravitz’s nerves at her audition added to her cynicism. “[Matt] gave me a motorcycle helmet and was like, ‘Walk in, take it off and start the scene.’ I was like, ‘This is how I don’t get the part.’ I don’t get the part because the helmet gets stuck on my head and I don’t look cool. I’ll get my lines, but I will fuck up this helmet moment.”

She didn’t. When Kravitz got the role, Reeves simply said, “You’re her.” When she arrived for her audition, he says, “Zoë had her game face on. But you can only prepare so much, and then you just have to go—and she had it.” During filming, he says, “there was never a moment where she was guarded or insecure. She has good instincts. She’s incredibly smart, very funny, honest and unpretentious, and she had great ideas about character evolution. She is a great creative partner.”

Stepping into those iconic Catwoman boots, previously worn by Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway, was “crazy,” says Kravitz. “The fandom is wild. When the announcement came out, I got more phone calls than I’d gotten on any birthday.” Also crazy was the shape she had to be in for the role: After eight-hour days on-set, she’d work out at home for three hours. “Obviously, you want to look good in a catsuit, but I also wanted it to be realistic that I’m able to do anything in this film,” she says. “So I had to be strong. I got stronger than I’d ever been. It felt good to see what I was capable of. I felt confident—and I could kick some ass.”

Shortly after production for The Batman started, filming halted due to the pandemic, stranding her in London for three months. Kravitz’s home in Brooklyn was under renovation, so when she finally returned to the U.S. in June 2020, she headed straight to upstate New York with her husband and dog. She says the isolation afforded her some time for self-reflection. “My life changed after that,” says Kravitz, whose divorce from Glusman was finalized in August 2021. “Having that time was a gift.” I ask if there were things that she may have ignored in her relationship that came to light during that quiet time in seclusion upstate. “I don’t really want to go into that,” she says. “Karl’s an incredible human being. It really is less about him and more about me learning how to ask myself questions about who I am and still learning who I am and that being okay. That’s the journey I’m on right now.”

So far, her 30s have been what Kravitz calls “the sweet spot.” She’s relieved that her 20s are over. “I never want to go back; I was a mess,” she admits. “I wasn’t making choices based on what felt good to me. Now I’m in an era of ‘What do I actually want?’ [I’m in a place] where I’m taking a minute to say ‘Maybe I should do this differently’ and seeing what that feels like.” Her pause from Instagram in late 2021 felt like a necessary shift after trolls came for her on the platform, saying she’d shown too much flesh at the 2021 Met Gala, to which she’d worn a metal mesh Saint Laurent gown. “Being uncomfortable with the human body is colonization/brainwashing. It’s just a body. We all got [one],” Kravitz replied to one commenter. “The fact that people don’t think what they say affects a celebrity because [they’re] not a person to them is crazy,” she tells me.

“I’m a human being. I want to fucking defend myself.” Nearly a week after the event, she erased all her Instagram posts and then posted only once for the remainder of the year. “The fact that I was like, ‘Should I not have worn that?’…. No, I do what I want to do, and I make what I want to make, and if I start being afraid of what other people are going to say or think, I’m no longer doing my job as an artist. I’m not experiencing the world and putting that into art. I’m walking on eggshells. Fuck that. So, I needed to take a minute.”

Kravitz is determined to follow her own timetable. It’s inspiring, especially considering all the reminders women get about their biological clock. “We all go from being the baby, where you’re like, ‘I have so much time,’ and then all of a sudden your gynecologist is like, ‘Want to freeze your eggs?’ And I’m like, ‘I hadn’t even thought about that.’ But I don’t feel pressured to have kids by a certain time—if I ever have kids. This idea of, like, you’re 30, you’re a grown-up, so now you’re supposed to have kids and stop having fun because that’s for children…. I bought into that for a second. It was like, ‘I don’t go out anymore; I just make roast chickens.’ But I still want to go on adventures, have fun nights and see the sun rise. [Learning] that there’s no finish line that I have to get to by a certain time has been an interesting journey. I hope I’m always playful and mischievous, even when I’m 70 years old. The point of being alive is to experience life and play with it. There’s still so much fun to be had.”

Kravitz’s desire to live whimsically was behind her move to New York from Miami when she was 15. “I went to a private school that had a lot of rich white kids who were just partying on their boats, and I was getting stoned and listening to the Beatles,” she says of her time in Florida, where she lived with her dad after spending most of her childhood with her mom in California. “I felt isolated. I just wanted to be around artists. So I said to my dad: ‘I have to get out of here. I’m not happy.’” In New York, Kravitz says, “I found my people, whom I’m still good friends with. We would hang out in Central Park and smoke weed and they would play acoustic guitar. It was an art community.” They’re the people she keeps close, the ones she calls on when things get rough.

“I have incredible friends, and I have great relationships with my parents, so I always have a place to go with my emotions,” she says, before listing Donald Glover, Ramy Youssef and Alicia Keys as some of her closest confidants. “Something we talk about is understanding the pure value of who we are as women,” says Keys of her chats with Kravitz. “We remind each other that we are special, powerful and important. Her trajectory is incomparable, and it’s effortless in this beautiful way. She’s the complete embodiment of creative freedom. Whatever she does is natural, honest, pure. She’s the definition of a true artist.”

Kravitz admits that she has to stop and assess her emotions from time to time. “[There are] moments when I’m like, ‘Okay, I’ve been smoking and drinking maybe a little more than I should—let’s look at what’s going on.’ And then I’m like, ‘I should call a therapist.’ And sometimes you need to dance it out. I think all of these [strategies] are okay for a short amount of time.” Writing also helps Kravitz process her feelings. Currently, she’s writing and recording her upcoming solo album with friend Jack Antonoff, mostly at Electric Lady Studios in New York. “It feels vulnerable, and it’s a little scary, but making music makes me happy,” she says of the tracks, which explore love and loss as well as other themes she’s still discovering.

Her MGM-acquired film Pussy Island , which she spent five years writing with pal E. T. Feigenbaum, is also bringing her all kinds of satisfaction. A thriller about a cocktail waitress who sets her sights on a mysterious tech mogul, the film was originally inspired by “the lack of conversation around the way women are treated in the entertainment industry,” explains Kravitz. “I started writing it pre Me Too, pre-Harvey [Weinstein]. Then the world started to have the conversation, so [the script] changed a lot. It became more about a power struggle and what that power struggle means. I rewrote it a million times. Now we’re like, ‘Holy shit—we’re doing this!’” The film, which is being shot this summer, will mark Kravitz’s directorial debut. “I have moments of being nervous,” she says. “But I know the story so well, and I’m trying to focus less on ‘Am I going to do a good job?’ and more on ‘What is my intention?’” Steven Soderbergh, who directed Kravitz in the new thriller Kimi , out now on HBO Max, says he has “every belief that she’s going to deliver something really distinctive” with Pussy Island . “She has a highly developed sense of equilibrium and is very inquisitive. It’s a pretty compelling combination.”

Channing Tatum plays the billionaire lead in the film. Kravitz had never met Tatum before casting him, but she remembers thinking he would be “brave enough” to take on the material. “Looking at his work and hearing him speak about Magic Mike and the live show, I was like, ‘I think he’s a feminist.’ And I don’t think we’ve ever seen him play someone dark. I’m excited to see him do that.”

When I mention the ear-to-ear smile we’ve seen on Kravitz in paparazzi pictures where she’s holding hands with Tatum, she says, “I’m happy.” She leaves it at that when it comes to their rumoured relationship. When I ask Soderbergh, who directed Tatum in Magic Mike, to predict how the actor and Kravitz will vibe on-set, he says, “I’m assuming they’re going to have fun, but if you’re in any sort of a couple and you go into an endeavour like this, all bets are off.”

Does Kravitz still feel optimistic about love? “I feel optimistic about life, and I think that goes hand in hand with it,” she says. “[With] all my relationships—friendships, romantic relationships, family—it’s [about] learning how to show up honestly. Sometimes we can’t show up, and that’s okay as long as we know how to communicate that we love those people.”

Kravitz spots a couple dressed all in black across the restaurant. Their looks are punctuated by large black top hats, à la Slash, the Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist. We watch them for a moment as they settle in at their table, gloriously standing out against the refined restaurant’s floral art deco decor. “See, they’re not reading the comments,” says Kravitz. “They are doing whatever they want. I really want to live like that.”

Zoë Kravitz Remembers Everything

The role of Catwoman in the decades-long Batman franchise has been taken on by a laundry list of professionals: Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Eartha Kitt among them. But when actress, musician, and model Zoë Kravitz transformed into the alter ego of Selina Kyle for Matt Reeves’s 2022 film The Batman , she brought her own flavor to it. The actress—who has also had starring roles on High Fidelity and Big Little Lies —added a sense of modernity to the character, which shined alongside costars Robert Pattinson, who played Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Paul Dano, who played the Riddler. Below, Kravitz details her Catwoman research process (which involved studying the way big cats move) and her very first kiss inside a fuzzy room at her dad, Lenny Kravitz’s house.

How did this project come into your life?

I was approached to play Selina. My agent called me and said that they were casting this role and I was on a list of actors they were looking at to play her. I flew to L.A. to meet Matt Reeves, the director, who pitched me the film before I had read anything. Immediately, I fell in love with Matt—I felt his deep love and enthusiasm for this world. We had a wonderful conversation about the character, and I told him my thoughts on how I would approach her. I did a screen test with Rob [Pattinson] where he was wearing George Clooney’s batsuit on the top and sweatpants on the bottom. [ Laughs ]

Did you study dance to play Catwoman?

I’m actually a really bad dancer. I’m not being cute: I’m truly an awkward dancer. I did watch a lot of videos of large cats and thought it was really interesting that they move their hips but not their face or their eyes. They're very hard to read because of that.

What was your worst style moment?

In my early 20s, I was very into vests, and I would wear them with leggings and boots. I was very confused. Recently, I saw some old photos and I said, “Who let me do this?” I looked like Peter Pan’s psychotic cousin.

What was your best birthday?

I think I was turning 10, and we were in the Bahamas with my dad’s part of the family and my mother couldn’t make it. When we arrived at the birthday party, there was a big box in the middle of the room. I opened the box, and my mom came out!

How long was she in the box?

That’s a good question. I don’t know. [ Laughs ]

I thought you were going to say it was a puppy in the box.

No. My dad got me a puppy once. It wasn't in a box and it also wasn't the puppy I wanted, which sounds like a bratty thing to say, but he got me one of those hairless dogs—the Chinese crested [hairless kind] because he was afraid about shedding. I actually grew to love it. His name was Ramone. I was like “He's kind of funny looking, like Johnny Ramone from The Ramones.”

Where was your first kiss?

My first kiss was in my father’s house in Miami. My dad had a very psychedelic house—it looked like Austin Powers’s house. There was this cubby-sized room that was furry. And this kid, I don’t remember his name, but we kissed. And I remember, whenever I would go back in that little cubby room, I would replay [the kiss] in my head over and over again.

What’s your go-to karaoke song?

Natalie Imbruglia, “Torn.” It’s belty and emotional, and reminds me of my childhood.

You have $20 in your pocket. What do you spend it on?

I would probably spend it on pizza and a bottle of wine—but, like, you know, enough for me and some friends.

Have you done a dance on TikTok?

No. I’m an adult woman! And I’m not cool enough to do that.

Lenny Kravitz on Finding Love and What He's Learned From Daughter Zoë

Lenny Kravitz recently sat down with 'CBS Mornings' co-host Gayle King to discuss his life ahead of the release of his new album.

Lenny Kravitz  says he is proud of many things about his daughter,  Zoë Kravitz , but even prouder at how she has helped him to grow. 

Ahead of the release of his new album, Blue Electric Light , the 59-year-old rock star sat down with CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King and opened up about how he is in recovery from being a perpetual people pleaser, which Zoë put the kibosh on. Kravitz explained that his daughter -- whom he shares with ex-wife Lisa Bonet -- has taught him about the power of "no," a concept that he otherwise felt deeply uncomfortable with. 

"That's something that I've been exercising and growing in. Where no is necessary -- at times. And this is something that I actually learned from my daughter," Kravitz -- who was recently announced as a 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee -- said.

He added, "She's so good at creating her boundaries. And boundaries are healthy, you know? But that generation, they don't have time to play."

King and Kravitz's conversation began as they were discussing the music artist's forthcoming record, in which he shares his struggles as someone who is always taking care of others first. In the song "Human," he sings, "When all of my days are done of pleasin' everyone I'll finally have begun."

For the "American Woman" crooner, it goes back to deep-seated issues that center around feelings of insecurity. Despite decades of success in the music industry and successful pivots into acting -- including a role in The Hunger Games films -- he says he still feels like a desperate teen just hoping someone will give him the chance to show his worth.

"I think I was raised -- not purposely, but to be a people pleaser. Where I put a lot of people's feelings before mine. Because I want to see folks happy. And that can be detrimental if you go overboard with that," Kravitz shared. "For some reason, I'm still that 16-year-old kid trying to get the record deal."

He added, "I haven't shed all of that."

As for his love life -- which he previously labeled "cursed" -- Kravitz has been linked to many a famous face since his 1993 divorce from Bonet, whom he married in 1987. After their split, he briefly dated pop singer Kylie Minogue in 1991 before moving on with Vanessa Paradis in 1992. During their five-year relationship, the couple recorded a duet together titled "Silver and Gold."

He was also engaged to supermodel Adriana Lima in the early aughts as well as  Nicole Kidman , however, both relationships ended before the couples could make it down the aisle. 

The "Love Love Love" singer told King that while he's always said that he feels ready to be in his next partnership, he feels more at peace with who he is as he approaches his 60th birthday than ever before. 

"Right now, I'm just open," he said of his love life, adding that he is always looking -- which might be the problem. "When you desire something, you're looking for it, right? But I find that when you don't look is when you find it."

He added, "I can say that I've never felt how I feel now."

Until Cupid's arrow hits him again, he is finding joy in other aspects of his life, including his music career and his growing family .

In late October, ET confirmed that Zoë had gotten engaged to  Channing Tatum  -- whom she met while working on her film, Blink Twice , which she directs and Channing, 44, stars in. Since then, Kravitz has spoken about the love he has for his daughter and his future son-in-law. 

"Hey man, that's life," he told ET at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival in January. "When your family is happy, when your child is happy, that's it -- I've done well. Blessed." 

Blue Electric Light  releases on May 24.

High Fidelity ’s Zoë Kravitz on What She’s Learning About Love, Gratitude, and Breakfast Burritos

As the television landscape grows ever vaster, actors otherwise sidelined have gotten a chance to strut their stuff at center stage, on their very own series. This spring perhaps no one got a juicier opportunity to do just that than Zoë Kravitz. Long a supporting presence in material as varied as the Divergent film series and HBO’s Big Little Lies, Kravitz gets to explore the full bloom of her talent in Hulu’s winsome, wistful High Fidelity, a gem of a romantic comedy that’s the second filmed version of Nick Hornby ’s popular novel.

The book was set in London, while the 2000 movie (a Gen X wonder that happens to feature Kravitz’s mom, Lisa Bonet ) moved the action to Chicago. The series finds lovely purchase in and around Crown Heights, Brooklyn, a neighborhood in flux given vibrant, compassionate tribute on the show. Guiding that tour of the hippest borough’s young bohemia is a centered, spirited Kravitz. She plays Rob—a wayward record-store owner examining her fascinatingly discursive love life—with an intelligent warmth, nicely mellowing the writing’s archness and reference-heavy banter.

It’s not all just a summery Brooklyn hang, though. There’s also plenty of sadness and anger for Kravitz to dig into, which she does with aplomb—it’s a beguiling performance, both in the internal reality of the series and in the meta way it reframes Kravitz’s whole career profile. High Fidelity is a testament to project and star perfectly aligning. The series grooves on such a confident and appealing wavelength that it almost makes us forget that a pandemic ravaged the real Brooklyn just a month after the show debuted. That’s thanks in large part to Kravitz, who’s long been an intriguing screen presence but here proves the very best of company.

For our TV issue, V.F. caught up with Kravitz, who’s sheltering in London with her husband, actor Karl Glusman.

Vanity Fair: What’s a new skill you picked up or want to try during quarantine?

Zoë Kravitz: Cutting my own hair.

What’s been your go-to recipe?

I’ve been making some bomb breakfast burritos with black beans and eggs and avocado.

What music has been playing a lot in the house?

A lot of Buena Vista Social Club, George Harrison, Stevie Wonder, and Questlove and D-Nice DJ sets on IG Live have been making me so happy.

Sweats or pajamas?

Kondi sweat suits.

Where will you go first when you can go out again safely?

First I will go hug all of my family and friends. Then I will go to Emilio’s Ballato and eat a scary amount of pasta.

What’s one thing that you would like to borrow from your onscreen character?

Rob’s leather jacket.

Because it’s badass and because I have basically stolen everything else from Rob’s wardrobe already.

What would your character do while quarantined?

Reorganize her records.

How is your show moving forward during these unprecedented times?

The cast and producers have been keeping in touch, just checking in on each other and making sure everyone is safe and healthy. Me and Nick Hornby have been having virtual coffees.

What’s something we’ve all taken for granted that you’ll never take for granted again?

Going outside, hugging people I love, grocery shopping, toilet paper.

What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned during the pandemic?

I am lucky. So lucky.

Don’t try to control anything.

Be thankful for every moment and everyone in your life who you love.

Ice cream always helps.

Lenny Kravitz celebrated his birthday with a slew of A-listers, including his daughter Zoë Kravitz and his ex-wife Lisa Bonet, in Paris on Friday.

Kicking off the weekend ahead of turning 60 on May 26, the singer-songwriter was seen arriving at the Hôtel de Crillon in the City of Love alongside a mystery woman on his arm.

He was seen helping the brunette bombshell, who wore a glamorous black gown to complement his look, as they walked in together.

He recently said that he was 'open' when Gayle King asked him about his relationship status and expressed her desire to date him  during an episode of CBS Mornings, which aired on Thursday. 

The rock musician was also celebrating the release of his twelfth studio album Blue Electric Light on Friday with his joint birthday and record release party.

The Rustin star also sported a thin leather belt and a small silver earring for the festivities.

Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, 52, also attended the bash wearing an off-white blazer with a patterned button-down and brown leather dress shoes.

The rock musician was also celebrating his album release with his joint birthday and record release party

He dropped his twelfth studio album Blue Electric Light on Friday, two days ahead of his 60th birthday

An insider revealed that the star-studded bash began with a delicious dinner followed by an afterparty with DJ Ruckus playing music. 

The source told  People  that Kravitz enjoyed a 'joyous evening surrounded by his closest family and friends' and heard partygoers giving speeches honoring his late mother Roxie Roker. 

Other guests in attendance included Naomi Campbell, Pauletta Washington and her son John David, Chris Rock and Marisa Tomei. 

The source also told the outlet that Kravitz flew in his fourth grade teacher Mrs. Goldberg from New York City to help him celebrate his big 6-0.

Zooey Deschanel and Jonathan Scott revealed earlier this month that they had purchased a Los Angeles “dream home.”

And true to the brand, they plan on completely renovating before they actually move in.

The “Property Brothers” star and “New Girl” actress purchased a five-bedroom, eight-bathroom property in July 2020 for $9.5 million, records show.

Now, after a series of delays, they expect to finally move in next month.

In the Jan. 7 issue of his Reveal magazine , Scott, 43, writes a personal essay detailing the process of finding the house and knowing immediately it was the perfect place for them.

“As we pulled up the drive, it just seemed . . . magical,” Scott recalls. “It sat on a little over an acre, and with its lush lawn and massive California sycamores, it looked like a park. Which is why when we first brought the kids to the property, they dubbed it the Park House.”

Deschanel has two children with her ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. She and Scott are not married, but say this home will be their “forever home” together.

“This dream home would become the largest residential renovation I had ever done in my career,” Scott wrote. But then the pandemic hit, and a host of other delays ensued due to supply-chain issues and shuttered permit offices.

But after renovating more than 500 homes for other families, Scott was unfazed.

“We have each other, and we have time — the rest of our lives together in this house. Our house. Our dream home, where we’ll see the kids grow up laughing and adventuring in the yard, where we’ll play host to friends and family,” he writes.

“I want the reveal to be perfect,” he writes. “I’m sure we’ll change a few things once we move in, swap some furniture. But overall I want it as close to her vision as possible because I know, like her, it will be beautiful, eclectic, and wonderfully unique.”

Spanning more than 6,300 square feet, the East Coast Colonial-style property is situated on an acre lot and was designed and built by renowned Old Hollywood architect Gerard Colcord in 1938.

Surrounded by sycamore trees, which Scott and Deschanel, 42, said they loved, the residence is located in the upscale Brentwood neighborhood.

Amenities include a tennis court, a full guest house, a gazebo and an expansive pool.

Scott and Deschanel had initially planned to update the bathrooms and be in the home by Christmas 2020. But they quickly discovered the house had water damage and a long list of other repairs and projects.

“Literally everyone on the planet who was building or renovating anything over the last two years is experiencing delays,” Jonathan said.

“I knew what our roles would be ever since Zooey appeared on ‘Celebrity IOU,’ when I discovered she absolutely loathes demolition. I clearly would be the construction lead and Zooey would be my liaison designer,” he writes. “As a couple undertaking a massive renovation project, if the most you’re disagreeing on is sink placement and recessed lighting, you’re probably doing well.”

Made up of two separate parcels, the home boasts a sprawling front lawn, a classic red brick porch and jade-green shutters.

Interior features include a formal dining room with wainscoting and sets of original French doors, a living room and sunroom combo with wood-burning fireplace, and a study.

The kitchen comes with stainless-steel appliances and upstairs is the primary suite which has its own fireplace and views of the gardens.

“What I found out very early on is that Zooey loves Los Angeles. Like, love-loves it,” said Scott, a native Canadian who owns a place in Las Vegas, in the essay. “She’s a native Angeleno, her parents still live in her childhood home, the whole deal.”

“I recall thinking, ‘Okay, okay…give me the sales pitch,’ skeptically, not thinking of myself as an ‘L.A. guy.’ But the more she showed me her Los Angeles — the parks she went to growing up, the neighborhoods where she made memories with her closest friends — the more I found myself in love with an Angeleno, and with L.A., too.”

Scott and Deschanel began dating back in September 2019 after they met during a taping of a “ Carpool Karaoke” episode .

“Eight months into our relationship, I already knew Zooey was the yin to my yang, the PB to my J. We were on parallel paths toward the happiness we’d been seeking our whole lives,” Scott explained.

Lenny Kravitz (born Leonard Albert Kravitz on May 26, 1964) is a musician and actor.

Known for his sexy swagger, the star was born into showbusiness as the son of The Jeffersons actress Roxie Roker and Sy Kravitz, an NBC television news producer. He began his professional music career in 1989, when he signed to Virgin Records and released his debut album that year, Let Love Rule. He had a huge hit with his third album, Are You Gonna Go My Way, released in 1994. He won the first of four Grammys for Best Male Vocal Rock Performance.

In addition to his music career, Lenny has appeared in a number of movies, including playing the character Cinna in the blockbuster trilogy ‘The Hunger Games’. His personal life is also notable. He was wed to actress Lisa Bonet from 1987 to 1993 and the pair share daughter Zoe Kravitz.

• The actress revealed that her dad, Lenny Kravitz, arranged the meeting, which just happened to coincide with Spears's iconic album cover shoot for Oops!... I Did It Again .

While talking about her role as Catwoman in the forthcoming production of The Batman , Zoë Kravitz also reminisced about the time she met Britney Spears when she was just 12 years old.

Kravitz recalled the momentous occasion to Variety . "She was the biggest star in the world when I was a kid, and I got to meet her," she said. "There's no one bigger than Britney Spears in a lot of ways. That was long ago, but 'NSync is still a big deal to me. Britney Spears is still a big deal to me."

She also revealed that her dad, Lenny Kravitz, was the mastermind behind the meetup.

"My dad surprised me. He was gone a lot on tour and all of that. So he was really sweet about when he would come into town to try and do something fun and surprise me, take me to Disneyland or whatever," she said. "Looking back it's like, I really just probably wanted to spend time with him and that's all I wanted. But [photographer] Mark Seliger, who's a dear family friend, was shooting Britney's ['Oops, I Did It Again' album] cover that day. I remember my dad taking me somewhere, not telling me where we were going, and then getting out of the car and going into this dark studio, and then looking and seeing this weird little set in the distance. As I got closer I was like, 'Oh my God, it's Britney. It's Britney Spears. She's right there.' And then got to take this picture. And then also at the time, didn't even realize that it was her album cover shoot and that it would, of course, become this iconic cover shoot. And yeah, it was very cool. It was very, very cool."

EXCLUSIVE: Lenny Kravitz Talks 'Hunger Games,' Zoe and His Return to Music

We’re usually not into guys who rock gold eyeshadow, but when Lenny Kravitz wears it in The Hunger Games : Catching Fire (in theaters today), we love it. For his recurring role as Katniss’s stylist Cinna, Kravitz found a kindred spirit in his character’s edgy on-screen style and the movie’s megawatt star Jennifer Lawrence.

The rocker-turned-actor talked to ESSENCE about their relationship (she’s like a sister to his daughter Zoe), the future of Cinna (spoiler alert!) and why he’s ready to sing again.   ESSENCE: In The Hunger Games: Catching Fire , why is Cinna the last person Katniss sees right before she’s released to fight the other Tributes? LENNY KRAVITZ: He’s the one putting together Katniss’s outfits and her gear. He’s walking her there to make sure she’s together and ready to go. And you saw what happens next.

ESSENCE: Yes! I haven’t read the books but does Cinna live? KRAVITZ: He’s pretty much out.

ESSENCE: If you could be a Tribute, what would be your skill? KRAVITZ: I’m a survivor. So I would find my way out of the problem. I’m pretty good at seeing through problems and getting out of the other end.

ESSENCE: About Cinna’s fashion, you’ve said in past interviews, that Cinna’s look is a good bridge between what you wear in your personal life and with the character. What did you love about his clothes? KRAVITZ: We’re both stylish people. Cinna’s a bit hipper in this one. I don’t dress like Cinna. But there are similarities and pieces that I would wear. I took one of the leather jackets from the set that I still wear.

ESSENCE: I loved his gold shadow. KRAVITZ : That’s definitely Cinna.

ESSENCE: In the movie, there’s a moment when Katniss spins around and her bridal gown turns into a mockingjay dress. What’s the trick? KRAVITZ: I know the secrets, but I cannot tell you. That’s that how I make my designs. [laughs]

ESSENCE: You and Jennifer Lawrence (who plays Katniss) have a really great relationship. How did you two become so close? KRAVITZ: We met years ago through my daughter [Zoe]. My daughter and Jennifer made X-Men: First Class together. I live in Paris, so while they were filming in London, they would visit, hang out and spend the weekends at the house. Jennifer felt like family from day one. She’s humble; she comes from a great family and she’s raised well. Jennifer has a great sense of humor. I’m so happy for what’s happening with her.

ESSENCE: Is your daughter Zoe a fan of The Hunger Game films? KRAVITZ: Oh yeah. She’s obviously like a sister to Jennifer. It’s just funny I ended up being in the film with her.

ESSENCE: When you weren’t on set, did you work on a new album? KRAVITZ: Yes, I started writing and putting it together. After I’d done The Butler and Hunger Games , I was hungry for the music again. I’m in the Bahamas finishing the album. It’s a really exceptional record. I think it’s my best work, ever. I’m really excited to put it out and go on a world tour next year.

ESSENCE: What’s the music like? KRAVITZ: It’s very stripped down. It’s primarily guitar, bass, drums and vocals. There are some horns here and there. It’s a very powerful, up record.

ESSENCE: Back to the film. Although President Snow is very evil, in the movie he says something very inspiring: “fear won’t last as long as there’s hope.” What are your thoughts about that message? KRAVITZ: Hope is a lot, isn’t it? I mean look at your life, anybody’s life, where we are? Hope is that magical element… that light at the end of the tunnel, the end of a dream. I’ve lived my life, definitely always having hope and faith. Those are magical elements.

The actress is serving all-black looks so far.

And just like that, The Batman arriving in theaters is already right around the corner, and with every new film comes the highly-anticipated press tour — and all eyes are on Zoë Kravitz, who is taking on the role of Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman, alongside Robert Pattinson in the Matt Reeves-directed movie. We’re not only excited to see our favorite stars make their worldwide trip to promote their new work, but we’re most looking forward to seeing what Kravitz rocking on the red carpet.

With the official press tour kicking off on Monday, Feb. 22, the actress has already made her trek to Europe and it seems that we’re getting all-black, yet super chic, looks. So far, she’s been captured in long dresses and The Matrix- inspired coats (mostly from Saint Laurent, as the French fashion house’s longtime brand ambassador). Perhaps, we’ll soon get to see the star in at least one designer catsuit in the coming days? We know Anthony Vaccarello is an expert at designing one.

Monday, Feb. 21: The Batman Press Screening in Paris

The Batman crew makes its first stop in Paris, with Kravitz opting for a minimal look. Seen alongside Pattinson and Brazilian soccer player Neymar, the actress wears a black dress from The Row’s Pre-Fall 2022 collection, which comes with a capelet that was wrapped around her upper body.

Tuesday, Feb. 22: The Batman Press Screening in Paris

The morning after the press screening, Kravitz posted her next outfit on Instagram . While taking in the view of Paris, she was seen in a black leather trench coat from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. Styled by Andrew Mukamal , she also wore a netted top underneath, along with a matching pair of mesh tights, leather pumps, and black sunglasses.

Wednesday, Feb. 23: The Batman Press Screening in London

The day after, Kravitz made her way to London, where she was spotted on the red carpet donning a black halter maxi gown from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, adorned with scallop cutouts at the chest. She completed her look with pointed black pumps and simple jewelry.

Tuesday, March 1: The Batman World Premiere in New York City

Kravitz is on a winning streak when it comes to black dresses on the red carpet. On Tuesday, March 1, the actress wore a strapless Catwoman-inspired gown to the film’s world premiere in New York City. The custom velvet dress, designed by Oscar de la Renta creative director duo Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, is adorned with a cat-shaped lace-up corset at the bodice.

Wednesday, March 2: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Kravitz continued her all-black aesthetic during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon wearing a black mock-neck crop top and matching tailored pants with heels.

For a separate segment on the show, Kravitz wore a black turtleneck top and a red skirt from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello.
