These Are Our 10 Most Popular Home Tours of 2022

From cozy California cottages to grand French manors, here are the homes that reigned supreme this year.

suzanne tucker montecito home living room

When it comes to selecting the beautiful homes that are featured in our magazine or on our website, our editors don’t pay too much attention to where they’re located or fixate on a particular style aesthetic. We can find beauty in a bohemian bungalow, a Georgian manse or an island retreat, as long as the home is well-appointed, has plenty of personality and a unique story to tell. And it turns out, many of our readers feel the same way. We pulled our most popular home tours of 2022, and there’s a delightful mix of cozy California cottages, colorful coastal retreats, grand French manors and more. Here are our most popular home tours of 2022.

A Montecito Cottage Designed by Suzanne Tucker

A Michigan Lake Cabin Designed by Amy Meier

amy meier michigan lake house tour great room

This low-maintenance lakefront cabin acts as a young family’s vacation home—and the rustic interiors were designed to be liveable, durable, and full of character. The cozy design and massive glass windows overlooking the lake make this home a fan fave for good reason.

A Historic Block Island Home Designed by Miles Redd and Gil Schafer

miles redd gil schafer block island house tour living room

This beautiful Block Island home is our third most popular house tour of 2022. The sunlight-dappled home is full of romantic coastal charm, thanks to seashell pink accents, gorgeous ocean views, and a "party barn" that serves as a place to entertain guests.

A French Manor House Apartment Designed by David Jimenez

david jimenez french manor house tour exterior

A centuries-old manor in the French countryside is pretty much the definition of romance, at least in our dictionary. An hour north of Paris, this manor apartment designed by David Jimenez is surrounded by ancient oaks, fragrant pines, and open fields. Inside, convivial French touches and an incredible art collection make this home truly special.

A Charming Colorado Guest House Designed by Heidi Callier

heidi caillier colorado guest house kitchen breakfast nook

Heidi Callier reimagined an old workshop on the property of a Colorado home into a well-appointed retreat for guests . This intimate cottage is inspired by British design and is filled with collected items, layered textiles, and cheerful colors for an extra dose of charm.

Noel Pittman's Elegant Los Angeles Home

noel pittman los angeles living room

Noel Pittman's home , a 1920's architectural beauty, is located in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Pittman took inspiration from Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean design, which is evident in the home's terra cotta tile, antique Spanish lebrillos, and original ironwork staircase. Layers of custom upholstery, antiques, art, and textiles make the home feel extra personal and inviting.

Summer Thornton's Enchanting Chicago Townhome

summer thornton chicago townhouse library veranda

This stunning living room from Summer Thornton's Chicago townhome earned the coveted spot on our May-June 2022 cover for good reason. The room's warm apricot paint color was inspired by a sunlit building Thornton had seen in Venice during her travels, while hand-marbled paper crowns the ceiling. We love how whimsical the room feels, thanks to mixed patterns, layers of texture and color, and an extra-fun tasseled couch.

John Saladino's Timeless Montecito Home

john saladino montecito home garden

John Saladino's California home , which was the cover star of our March-April 2017 issue, is a love letter to beautiful architecture, decorating, gardens, and furniture design. Many of his idyllic rooms look like still-life paintings and feature incredible antiques, sculptures, and global textiles. When designing this pool and outdoor space, Saladino said he was inspired by ancient Greek and Roman nymphaea—natural grottoes said to be homes of nymphs. Magical, indeed!

A Hudson Valley Home by Louise Copeland

louise copeland hudson valley kitchen and breakfast room

This nearly 200-year-old home in the Hudson Valley is the ultimate retreat for a young family. Though the layout of the house has been brought into the 21st century, there's still plenty of vintage charm to go around. 19th-century antiques, natural light, and lush gardens make this a bucolic escape that still manages to feel quite livable and contemporary.

A Historic London Apartment Designed by Philip Vergeylen

philip vergeylen london apartment home tour library

This London apartment designed by Philip Vergeylen is the epitome of modern glamor and daring decoration. Bold patterns, rich colors, globally sourced antiques, and an impressive art collection make this a truly one-of-a-kind space with tons of visual interest.

Carriage House by Shannon Roberts (Savannah, GA)

blue kitchen

In 2020, life handed Knoxville, TN, interior designer Shannon Roberts some particularly sour lemons: a cancer diagnosis just as Covid-19 began swirling the globe. He turned it into lemonade—and fast. “Two weeks before the world shut down, my husband and I purchased a second home in Savannah, Georgia,” says Roberts. “The carriage house (all 800 square feet it) was fair game for a renovation.”

Colorful Bedroom by Angie Lane (Tecumseh, MI)

detail of bedroom interior

The bedroom in Angie Lane 's circa-1860 Italianate farmhouse in Tecumseh, Michigan, needed addressing. "It was a mattress on a platform frame and not much else," confesses the designer, who finally committed to sprucing it up to shoot for the cover of her book, Midwest Modern Manifesto . "I ran with the idea of the room as an abstract version of a landscape painting," she explains.

TOUR THE HOME

Colonial Revival by Isabel Ladd (Lexington, KY)

living room interior

"Explosive, vivid, saturated.” This is how Lexington, Kentucky–based interior designer Isabel Ladd describes her home, a 1936 colonial that she renovated in "…colors and patterns that bring me immense joy. It reflects how I dress and live: very passionately and in full color."

Historic Townhouse by the Novogratzes (NYC)

living room the novogratz

For decades a bubble gum–pink stucco townhouse, the exterior of Cortney and Robert Novogratz's new family home in New York City is now gold. This, of course, is what the Novogratzes, a married design and branding powerhouse, do: “We aren’t afraid to take a falling-down building and brighten it up. It can totally transform the energy of the neighborhood,” Cortney says.

Whimsical Studio by Rudy Saunders (NYC)

blue victorian style studio

As an interior designer at Dorothy Draper & Company Inc. , Rudy Saunders has had plenty of experience working in exquisite homes. But he had his work cut out for him at the pre-war studio apartment on the Upper East Side where he lives: The space is tiny—only about 375 square feet—and it’s a rental, meaning major renovations were out of the question.

Cottage Bungalow by Shavonda Gardner (Sacramento, CA)

shavonda gardner, home tour, sacramento, ca kitchen “living” finishes on the unlacquered copper pots, sink, and soapstone counters mean a patina will be acquired quickly cabinetry mastercraft range ilve table rh lights mitzi wallpaper meadow, kelly ventura floor and backsplash tiles fireclay tile skylight velux hood insert zephyr

While it might have been the moody living room that graced House Beautiful's cover, readers were obsessed with pretty much ALL of Shavonda Gardner's inviting California cottage. One standout room was her English country-inspired kitchen, whose mix of colors is, shall we say, chef's kiss.

Modern Home by Jess Cooney (Berkshires, MA)

jess cooney

Sited in Egremont, Massachusetts, the house that Jess Cooney 's clients had bought featured a new, all-white kitchen, along with sky-high windows overlooking dreamy mountain views. Then a tree fell through the roof during a storm (thankfully, the house was empty), and the area sustained significant water damage. “The accident made the decision for them,” says Cooney. “We gutted the kitchen, painting the cabinetry bright blue so it really popped in the open living space.”

English Manor by Kim Armstrong (Texas)

interior

Designer Kim Armstrong’s clients, newly retired, were ready to move to the countryside. Their family was expanding as their children were creating families of their own. A new house with an open-concept floor plan had high ceilings that made window treatments a puzzle. But “the most challenging” part of the project, says Armstrong, “was to create intimate space” in the large open floor plan.

1930s Cabin by Emily Janak and Northworks (Jackson, WY)

kitchen island

Tearing into the walls of their new 1950s ranch house, designer Emily Janak and her husband, architect Adam Janak of Northworks , discovered an architecture lover's version of buried treasure: an original 1936 log cabin that had been covered up with drywall in the ’60s. “It was like finding gold,” says Janak. Because the pine timber had been sealed up for decades, it was in pristine condition.

Pop House by Atelier ND (Amsterdam)

colorful mid century inspired living room

Carice van Houten, best known for her role as Melisandre on HBO’s Game of Thrones , and her boyfriend, actor Guy Pearce, had just bought a 1918 brownstone in a suburb of the Dutch capital. The walls were all white, but Van Houten describes herself as “a walking color explosion, a female Peter Pan, a bit like Pippi Longstocking… My trademark is my eclecticism.” A kaleidoscopic upgrade was needed.

HB's 2022 Whole Home (Atlanta)

whole home exterior

Breathing new life into an old house takes a village. HB partnered with Ladisic Fine Homes , architectural firm Pak Heydt & Associates , as well as even interior designers to transform this tudor-style house in Atlanta. Designers include: Ariene Bethea, Ashley Gilbreath, Brynn Olson, DuVäl Reynolds, Jonathan Savage, Keia McSwain, Leanne Ford, Lisa Adams, Mark Williams, Niki Papadopoulos, Whittney Parkinson, and Zoë Feldman.

Marble Kitchen by Laura McCroskey (Kansas City)

laura mcroskey kitchen

When it came to designing the 328-square-foot kitchen of her newly built home, Laura McCroskey’s client, Becky Hillyard, had one request: “No marble!” The lifestyle influencer, founder of the blog Cella Jane, had asked her 642,000 Instagram followers for advice on which surface material to use—and nearly everyone cautioned against marble, since it’s so easy to stain.

Industrial Loft by Alison Victoria (Atlanta)

interior

Alison Victoria had never considered herself an apartment kind of girl. But when she laid eyes on the Stacks lofts, a converted 1880s textile mill in Atlanta, the HGTV star immediately knew she had to buy a unit there—even if only to flip it.

Cottonland Castle by Chip and Jo Gaines (Waco, TX)

jo and chip gaines during renovation

The 1913 stone manor house, originally modeled after a small German castle along the Rhine River, has a history and foundation dating back to 1890—not to mention a permanent place in local Waco, Texas, lore. “It sits in the center of a neighborhood downtown, so if you live nearby, you’ve driven past it hundreds of times,” Chip Gaines explains.

Forever Farmhouse by Carolyn Miller

dining room interior

"It was what I call a Frank Lloyd Wrong ," says designer Carolyn Miller of the 1930s Pacific Palisades farmhouse that had fallen victim to a series of bad renovations in the 30 years since its owners moved in. The clients needed help, Miller recalls: "They wanted to bring the house into its best possible state. And they trusted me to do it."

Our kitchen is the hub of our home. We find ourselves gathered in this space sometimes with our coffee cups and other times doing homework on the kitchen island. With Fall making its way into Alabama, it was time to decorate this space with farmhouse decor that will make staying home comfy and cozy.

The 10 Best Architectural Digest Celebrity House Tours on YouTube

youtube house tours 2022

Architectural Digest's YouTube channel, and its "Open Door" series in particular, is one of life's greatest gifts. It filled the void that MTV cribs left in its wake when the series ended in 2010... and we're huge fans.

Because it's not every day we real estate addicts get to see behind the closed doors of luxurious, extravagant, and quirky celebrity homes. From a converted windmill in the Hamptons and a duplex penthouse apartment at the Plaza Hotel in NYC to the mansions of the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles , each home on this list will leave you both in awe and filled with inspiration.

These are the top 10 best Architectural Digest celebrity house tours...

1. robert downey jr..

First up we have Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey's converted windmill abode. This is not your run-of-the-mill (see what we did there?) Hamptons summer home, it was designed by renowned New York City firm Fox-Nahem Associates who transformed the late-19th century windmill into a charming and very private East Hampton masterpiece with stunning grounds. The highlight? Susan's office in the very top of the windmill is the ideal WFH situation and we couldn't be more jealous.

In this very humorous home tour we get to see everything from Robert's art projects and clutter closets to their table-side nap zone and numerous cats. If you're in the mood for a chuckle, look no further.

2. Dakota Johnson

If you love all things mid-century modern, this is the celebrity home tour for you.

Architectural Digest kindly bring us inside the beautiful home of movie star Dakota Johnson. Formerly the home of director Ryan Murphy, Dakota purchased the super private Hollywood Hills home for $3.55 million in 2016. Features of envy include beautiful crushed mohair vintage sofas, her cozy office with book wall, gorgeous green kitchen, and backyard oasis complete with citrus trees, a heated swimming pool, and an elevated bamboo-sheltered hot tub area.

There isn't an inch of this lush but humble abode that we don't love.

3. Wiz Khalifa

This episode of "Open Door" is currently the most viewed of all time with 43 million views. It brings us inside Wiz Khalifa's $4.6 million mansion and recording studio in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.

The rapper's super cool pad features a heated infinity pool with incredible views, a games room with a dab AND booze bar, an underground recording studio, weed-themed photo wall, and a fleet of killer cars. Proof that this man is living the dream.

4. Cara and Poppy Delevigne

You may never find more personality in a home thanks to the Delevigne sisters' jungle-inspired home in Los Angeles.

Nicolò Bini of Line Architecture told Architectural Digest of the home, “I wanted to create a true L.A. moment for them, with nods to California midcentury modern, Laurel Canyon bohemia, Beverly Hills swank, surfing culture, and a little Mexico. Then we tied all that in with Cara and Poppy’s Englishness to give the house another layer of Delevingne charm.” The interior of this home is one-of-a-kind, no doubt about it.

Over in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles , you'll find producer and DJ Zedd's $16 million mansion.

Highlights of this Architectural Digest "Open Door" episode include the incredible canyon and hill views, indoor trees, an art gallery, and a Skittle machine. Spanning a whopping 9,500 square feet, this mansion even has its own detached studio and gym and will soon have a separate "guest-house-bowling-alley-complex". Casual...

You can understand why this is the second most viewed video on Architectural Digest's YouTube with a staggering 43 million views.

6. Kendall Jenner

Next up we have supermodel and Kardashian clan member Kendall Jenner whose serene Los Angeles home was designed by Kathleen and Tommy Clements and Waldo Fernandez. The interior of the home blends super tasteful elements and earthy shades with fun, unexpected pops of color and a calm, peaceful atmosphere.

Keep an eye out for Kendall's incredible art collection including a signature James Turrell ovoid wall sculpture as well as her incredible fireplace, beautiful bar, art studio, dream-worthy chef's kitchen, gold bathtub, glam room, and so much more.

7. J Balvin

Travel with us to Colombia for this next "Open Door" episode where we get to explore superstar J Balvin's tranquil home. Inspired by Japan aesthetics and minimalism, the house features floor-to-ceiling windows that bring nature indoors. The open plan kitchen and living room open up to the great outdoors, with a wonderful indoor / outdoor flow. The pool area is beyond dream-worthy and is surrounded by lush and tropical greenery and bonsai trees.

The minimalism and neutral color palette changes greatly when you enter J Balvin's walk-in closet where  over 850 pairs of sneaker line the walls in explosions of color. The man loves his shoes...

8. Hilary Duff

Next we'll enjoy a tour of Hilary Duff's vibrant, colorful, and cheerful family home in Los Angeles . A self-confessed home renovation addict, Hilary has renovated this house twice in the last eight years. The latest one has resulted in a quirky and somewhat eccentric aesthetic with a focus on family, livability, and large spaces to spend time in with beautiful art and tasteful features throughout.

The highlight of this home tour has got to be the chicken coop out in the back yard.

9. Tommy Hilfiger

Journey back to New York with us now for what may be the most luxurious and opulent home on this list. Legendary fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee reportedly purchased this duplex penthouse apartment at the Plaza Hotel for $25.5 million in 2008 (they've since sold it for $31 million, although originally listed it for $80 million).

This Plaza apartment overlooks Central Park, with incredible views of the city as far as the eye can see. This particular unit steeped in history having once hosted the likes of The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and many more iconic figures. You won't find another apartment like this in New York City.

10. Aaron Paul

Come check out Aaron Paul's custom wood and stone Idaho home. Despite the house being enormous, it has a very cozy, almost cabin-like vibe to it, tucked away in the snowy mountains and surrounded by trees and lakes. Just watching this home tour will make you feel warm 'n' fuzzy inside.

With the help of interior designer Jake Arnold and Pearson Design Group, the Pauls purchased and used the wood from three 120-year-old barns to build the house from scratch. Drool over the cathedral ceilings, vast living spaces, stone bathrooms, spacious bedrooms, and an incredible floor-to-ceiling fireplace.

Plus, a bonus one, but a must-watch nonetheless.

11. Naomi Campbell

Last but not least, we just haaad to include icon Naomi Campbell's Kenya compound and airy villa. On the coast of the Indian Ocean, in the tranquil seaside town of Malindi, lies this tranquil and "very calming place".

From the indoor/outdoor flow and two pools, to the restaurant-like outdoor dining area and on-site spa - we've never seen anything quite like this one... take a look for yourself.

Cozy Fall Home Tour / Beautiful Decorating Ideas 2022

Can you believe it is almost October and it’s officially fall? Let me show you some beautiful decorating ideas for the fall.

Today, I’m sharing my fall home tour as part of the  Bloggers’ Best Fall Home Tours  hosted by my lovely friend Kelly, from  the Tattered Pew.

Kelly has organized 30 wonderfully talented home décor bloggers to share their homes with you. Their homes are filled with so much fall decorating ideas and inspiration.

Bloggers' Best Fall Home Tours (1)

If you are coming over from my friend Kristin, White Arrows Home , welcome! She has such a beautiful home in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

For those of you that are new, I am Tammy. Together with my husband and little fur baby Piper (2-year old French Bulldog), we live in historical Southern Maryland.

youtube house tours 2022

You will often see Piper in my photos as she is never far from me.

I am so glad that you stop by to see my cozy fall home tour. I hope you find some decorating inspiration here.

Our modern new built farmhouse has an open concept. Therefore, there is no foyer area. You walk straight into the dining room area with my home office to the right.

With an open concept, the key is to have the design flow from room to room. That design includes colors that flow and coordinate together.

This year, I am using a lot of earthy tones in my fall decorations. You will see lots of textures, wood elements and even dried flowers from my garden.

Here are some beautiful decorating ideas for the fall.

Dining room.

The dining room is the first room you see when entering our home.

Instead of a runner or tablecloth, I used a wool throw on the table. Often I will use a throw as a tablecloth or table square depending on the size of it. I believe in working with what you have in the home first.

youtube house tours 2022

After creating my center piece, I bunched up the throw around it. I love the warm tones in this throw and the texture it adds to the wooden table.

youtube house tours 2022

You often see that I love to incorporate plants into my home decorations. It makes no difference if you use real or faux. I use both in my home.

Greenery helps to create that cozy feeling in the room. Try adding a pumpkin or fall pick into your plant for more visual interest.

youtube house tours 2022

I made a moss topiary for my sideboard. You can read about it here . It is so easy to make and a lot more reasonable then to purchase one new.

This creamy white pumpkin use to be orange. I decided to paint it to fit into my fall decorations. You can find my full tutorial at Beautiful Pumpkin Makeover With Dixie Belle Paints .

living room

The kitchen, kitchen dining area and family room all flow into a large space. It is perfect for us with a large family. We have grown children and a growing family with 4 grandchildren. There is lots of space for the grands to play.

youtube house tours 2022

I found this wonderful rug that come in various sizes. It is so plush and soft. The grand littles love to lay and watch television on it. This rug is amazing and cleans up so well.

All of the items found in my home can be found on my “SHOP MY HOME”.

youtube house tours 2022

The wreath over my fireplace is actually two wreathes. I found an over sized grapevine wreath in my basement. I hung the grapevine wreath and added the 24″ wreath centered over top of it. Now it fits the space!

youtube house tours 2022

Lots of textures on the fireplace to soften the stark white hearth and mantel.

youtube house tours 2022

I design with comfort in mind. Pillows and throws will be tossed on the floor. Grandchildren and dogs will lay on them too. The items for my home must be children and pet friendly.

The pumpkins are actually pillows. The grand littles can take them out of the basket. They love to lay on them.

This wreath is recycled from a few years ago. I store all of my wreathes in plastic wreath boxes. It keeps them protected and looking good for years to come.

kitchen dining area

The kitchen dining area, I kept very simple this year. A tall terra cotta vase was added with some hydrangeas dried from my garden. If you are interested in learning how to dry hydrangeas, I have a tutorial on how to dry hydrangeas .

Cozy Fall Home Tour Beautiful Decorating Ideas 2022 (13)

Over the coffee bar, I added a few fall touches. I made this wood bead fall wreath .

On the opposite site of the table area, I have my favorite bench. I bought this bench from a friend. She made the bench from an old bed. It’s a favorite spot for my grandchildren to sit. I love to sit and read here too.

Aliya, I have neighbors that come over with their children. I hear them tell the children don’t touch anything of Ms. Tammy. I immediately jump in and tell the Mamas to relax this house is to be lived in. There is nothing that they can hurt that cannot be replaced. I want people to cozy up and feel welcome. I may move a vase or two before littles come over into my office out of harms way. I think now they all know, to come and enjoy.

Julie, thank you so much sweet friend.

Nice to meet you Tammy! I would love to live in a historical town. Is it like a Hallmark movie? Your style is beautiful and perfectly decorated for fall. Love your bed bench. We made one out of a full size bed and I think it’s my favorite DIY to date. I need a cushion though. We double up the quilt but it’s definitely not soft enough. Enjoyed hopping with you this week. Happy Fall!

Not quite a Hallmark movie, but the sweet town of Leonardtown has wonderful events and great restaurants. Not like the bigger historical towns.

Tammy your home looks so lovely and cozy for fall! I love the plaid blanket on the dining table. And also a fan of your dining chandelier and pumpkin pillows – so much that I have the same.😂 So wonderful to be on the tour with you. Happy Fall!

Love it that we have same tastes in things. Thank you about my chandelier, I did not want anything fancy and felt it went well with the home.

Tammy, Everything looks beautiful and cosy for Fall. I LOVE love love the plaid on the table, the pumpkin pillows in the basket. I can just imagine how lovely this is for you, and your family and friends that get to see it in person! Have a wonderful weekend, you are in my thoughts.

Thank you, Elizabeth for stopping over to the blog. Wasn’t that plaid throw a great fine? I found it a local store and snagged it up.

Tammy, your fall home is lovely! The colors and textures are beautiful! I love how you used the wool throw on your table, the double wreath on your mantle, along with your pretty dried hydrangeas. It is all so cozy and welcoming! Happy Fall, my friend!

Thank you so much, Lynne for your sweet comment.

Merry And Bright 2022 Christmas Home Tour

youtube house tours 2022

Happy Thanksgiving, Friends! I hope your day is filled with the people you love, turkey, and more things to be thankful for than you can count. As I’m getting ready for the 2023 Christmas Tour on Monday, Nov 27th, I thought you might like to see last year’s home tour. There are lots of ideas and inspiration to use for your Christmas home. Remember to stop back on Monday! Here is a little hint of what to expect this year…

youtube house tours 2022

Enjoy last year’s tour!

Welcome to the 2022 StoneGable, Merry And Bright Christmas Home Tour! I’m so glad you are here!

I’m part of the Blogger’s Best Home Tours hosted by Kelly at The Tattered Pew . Kelly has worked tirelessly to put together this Christmas tour of 35+ bloggers’ Holiday homes going on all week long! Today you can visit 7 homes!

If you are coming from Cecilia’s at My Thrift Store Addiction … WELCOME! I’m sure you loved her Christmas home and the way she incorporated beautiful and thrifty items into her decor!

I’m so excited for you to look around our Christmas home and I hope when you leave you will have lots of ideas to use in your home this Holiday season!

A ffiliate links included. See our  Discloser Policy . As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

Come on in the front door!

I think a wreath is a happy and hospitable way to welcome anyone who comes to our front door!

Most of the Christmas decor are things I already have. I like to challenge myself to use them in new and interesting ways.

But the wreath… it’s new! Cedar is a very popular green this year, and I am certainly on the cedar bandwagon! I opted not to use a bow on this wreath because it is gathered up at the top with twine. It’s a pretty and casual modern look.

youtube house tours 2022

This wreath is huge! So it can easily be seen from the road!

Come on into the foyer!

youtube house tours 2022

The heart of our foyer is this long white console table. And I packed it full of Christmas decor this year.

I’m not much of a collector but one thing I just can’t pass up are little trees! The console table holds some of my favorites plus a couple new additions.

You will see lots of little trees scattered throughout our Christmas home.

What do you collect?

One of the questions I get asked every year is how to decorate with what we collect. So this year I wrote a helpful post, DECORATING WITH CHRISTMAS COLLECTIONS . And it has been one of my popular posts so far this year.

In the post, you can see the big difference in how I decorated last year compared to this year.

youtube house tours 2022

Did you notice the white and silver reindeer art? I love reindeer. They are adorable! But this reindeer is so majestic I decided to prop him up in the foyer to greet you!

youtube house tours 2022

This year I took pictures with lots of lit candles! I took the photos over a three-day period and the last day was so dark and rainy. So I lit some of the candles and enjoyed the ambiance as I took pictures.

On the bottom shelf of the console, you will get a little clue about a color that plays a big part in our Christmas Home this year!

youtube house tours 2022

If you love a Christmas home that looks cohesive and has a designer flair then the most important thing you can do is choose a Christmas color palette!

I’ve wanted to use red in my Christmas home for several years but I seemed to default to greens and neutrals which I love.

I decided early that this was the year to add red! A color palette helped me to keep on track. This year’s colors were inspired by last year’s CHRISTMAS MASTER BEDROOM .

I wanted to use the same colors plus a touch of red.

Here is my Christmas color palette this year…

youtube house tours 2022

A color palette makes decorating so much easier. You can see a very helpful post, HOW TO CHOOSE A PERFECT CHRISTMAS COLOR PALETTE here .

I think knowing our color palette and the style and feel we want our Christmas homes to radiate gives us a huge head start and makes decorating so much easier and enjoyable.

Let’s walk down our long foyer and head toward the living room.

youtube house tours 2022

Let’s take a quick pause by the stairs.

youtube house tours 2022

The stairs look a whole lot different than they did last Christmas! This past summer we painted them and added a runner.

They were originally golden oak. Lots and lots of golden oak! Two stories worth of stairs!

The trouble with painting golden oak is the strong and noticeable grain in the wood. My husband and son worked together and found a quite easy fix for making the wood look much smoother! And they used a sprayer to paint the spindles. It was a big project but so worth it!

I’ll share how we transformed our stairs after the first of the year.

Garland on the stairs would be overkill so I opted for greens, ribbons, and vintage-looking Christmas balls.

I also used my favorite battery-operated candles on every other stair. They look so pretty in the evening!

THE LIVING ROOM

youtube house tours 2022

THE WHITE BUFFET

The white buffet is the first thing you notice in the living room. And the little upholstered stools too.

I found them earlier this fall and could not resist! I put one on either side of the buffet. I’m a big fan of symmetry! You can see these well-made stools HERE . They come in several colors.

On top of each stool, I added buffalo check pillows and little frosted wreaths (see them HERE ). The wreaths also hang in every window in our home.

I added a bit of red to this end of the living room with the red plaid gifts. I like this wrapping paper because the pattern looks light and airy for a plaid.

youtube house tours 2022

On top of the present is my favorite Christmas bow. Here is a post about CHRISTMAS RIBBONS AND BOWS with a little video about how to make these fluffy bows.

On the buffet are a few more Christmas trees from my collection.

youtube house tours 2022

Some of my trees, like the little one above, are decades old.

In the center of the buffet, I put together an easy arrangement in a hammered brass bowl.

youtube house tours 2022

Arrangements and vignettes are the backbone of my Holiday decor. They are easy to make and can be styled in so many ways!

HOW TO CREATE A HOLIDAY VIGNETTE STEP-BY-STEP will give you lots of ideas for making pretty Christmas arrangements too. And a peek at our Christmas sunroom.

The mantel this year has an asymmetrical garland.

youtube house tours 2022

The lit garland was hung using four 3M hooks. Lots of bits and pieces of greens were added to this garland to make it look lush.

I repeated the crisp brown and white ribbon that is also on the tree and on the newel post of the stairs.

I cut the ribbon about 5 feet long to keep making the loops manageable. And then I cut the ends of the ribbon into a classic French V’s.

On a last-minute whim, I added red wooden beads to the garland too!

youtube house tours 2022

I hung tree stockings at the short garland end of the mantel along with a few vintage Christmas ornaments.

Can you tell which stockings is mine?

youtube house tours 2022

I kept the brown and white pillow on the spindle chair from the fall. I love these pretty little pillows and they worked with my Christmas color palette.

youtube house tours 2022

THE COFFEE TABLE

In the middle-ish of the living room is the upholstered coffee table. This year I used a pretty glass mirror as a tray and added some of the smaller trees I collect that light up.

youtube house tours 2022

And I added a bit of seeded eucalyptus.

youtube house tours 2022

Seeded eucalyptus is much airier and lighter than greens. It lets the reflective beauty and light of the mirror show through.

youtube house tours 2022

THE CURLACUE CHEST

The Curlacue chest holds a white porcelain Holy Family.

youtube house tours 2022

Behind the little Nativity, I propped a light silhouette picture of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the star.

youtube house tours 2022

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

This year, like last year, I used our heavily flocked Christmas tree.

youtube house tours 2022

I decorated it with mostly white, brown, bronze, and neutral ornaments and ribbons. And I used just a little bit of red too!

youtube house tours 2022

I like a tree that is full of things to look at! Ornaments, ribbons, ornaments, berries, and big stems of something pretty!

This is the first year I used a tree collar. It was white so I spray painted it an antique bronze to work with my colors. I’m now a fan! What do you think? Do you like a tree collar or skirt?

youtube house tours 2022

I started to wrap some of our gifts to coordinate with our Christmas tree!

youtube house tours 2022

Our six little grandchildren (6 and under) could not stop touching the tree! They especially LOVED jingling the jingle bells. And that made it snow all over the floor and they loved that too! And so did I!

youtube house tours 2022

I saw the wonder and magic of a Christmas tree through their eyes! Christmas is just so special with grandkids!

Now let’s head to the dining area…

THE DINING AREA

The dining area is on the backside of the Christmas tree! So when we are eating we can see the entire tree from the other side!

youtube house tours 2022

I got a new rug for this area. It came yesterday. I took advantage of the early Black Friday sales. I always get indoor/outdoor type rugs in our dining room. They are so much easier to clean up. You can see the new rug HERE .

This Christmas season I kept the decor rather simple.

youtube house tours 2022

But simple can be so pretty! I put greens down the center of our table and looped the same brown and white ribbon through them.

youtube house tours 2022

And then I added this beautiful Capiz leaf garland (see it HERE on sale now).

youtube house tours 2022

A shallow-footed bowl in the center of the table holds seven, ruby red pomegranates.

youtube house tours 2022

Well, friends, I have so much more to share with you like our Christmas kitchen…

youtube house tours 2022

And our sunroom…

youtube house tours 2022

And a couple bedrooms and more!

So stop back next Monday to see part 2 of our 2022 Merry And Bright Christmas Home Tour.

But now, please visit my very dear friend Julie at My Wee Abode . She is a California girl who is creative and one of the nicest people I know! When you stop by tell her I said Hi!

I hope you have enjoyed my tour and have found lots of ideas you can use in your Christmas home.

Just beautiful as always! I really love the brown and white ribbon throughout your displays. But I must say, my favorite were the arrangements on your stair posts. Love the sheer and striped ribbon together! So pretty! They deserve a diy post just by themselves. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas and good health. Thank you for all your hard work and sharing it with us!!

Hi Diana, thank you! Right now I have a horrid cold from the grandbabies, so I need a bit of good health! Merry Christmas!

I love your wreath at the front dorr. Did you create it by yourself?

And of course I love your whole decor in the house, too. : – )

Beautiful, as usual. How fortunate that Hobbes allows you to decorate the mantle- my Annie would bring it down faster than I could put it up.

Thanks, Emily! Merry Christmas.

I just love, love following your blog and all the creative ideas, how to and recipes you share. Your Christmas home tour is gorgeous and I have garnered many ideas. Would you please share how you attached the beautiful greens together, or did you use a teardrop swag on your newel post. My stair banister certainly would be an overkill but the greens would be perfect. I certainly could use any tips you would share. Thank you and Merry Christmas!

I used a small cedar garland and folded it in half. I tied it to the bow and then tied the garland to the newel post. I hope this helps. So glad you enjoyed the tour. Merry Christmas, Beverly!

Amazing!!! I love the white and silver deer art on your foyer table. Is that something that is still available?

Hi Cassie, Merry Christmas! The deer art is from a local shop.

Yvonne, everything beautifully elegant as always. In love with the white and silver reindeer art and would love the link to purchase. Have a great holiday season. Helen

Hi Helen, that reindeer is very popular! I found it at a local shop and I don’t have a source. Sorry.

I love your blog and forward to reading each week. Where did you get the baskets on the bottom of your console table and on the Carolina Room near the tree??? Also love the brown color lumbar like Fall pillow, where did you find that one?? So appreciate the links in the Christmas ? articles.

I found it locally, Sorry Sabrina. The lumbar pillows were from Amazon and are not in stock. Things right now are flying off the shelves. So sorry.

Yvonne, your home looks beautiful for the holiday season.

Hi Yvonne! I love your pops of red and your tree is stunning–pinned! You’ve created such a welcoming, festive entry. Wishing you a joyous Christmas season. Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

Cecilia, So sweet! Merry Christmas

I just love your elegant Christmas decor ! Where did you get that beautiful round wicker tray under your coffe table I have the same kind of ottoman and was looking for something exactly like that and also what size is it .

I found the basket tray at Wayfair. However, I don’t see it there anymore. Look on Wayfair, they have others you might like, Debbie.

Yvonne, your Christmas decor this year is spot on! It is so perfect, you have inspired me to use red next year.Bless you for sharing your beautiful decor with your followers. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

How sweet, Susan! I was surprised at how much I love red in our home.

Really beautiful! Love the color scheme and the nativity vignette is perfection!

Your home is so lovely. Such gorgeous details. So fun hopping with you this week. I adore your mantle decor.

Thank you, Renae.

Your home looks so cozy and inviting for the holidays, Yvonne. I love every detail. Christmas perfection! Happy to be hopping with you this week. Pinned!

Thanks, Jen! Merry Christmas.

Yvonne! Your home is definitely Merry and Bright! You have been blessed with the gift of decorating and curating a beautiful home and it blesses so many besides just your family! Thank you for sharing your home with us and the special touches and memories. I could just hear your grandkids laughing touching the tree and bells! Merry Christmas my friend and thanks for joining the tour!

Oh, Kelly! How sweet! I’m so thrilled to be part of your tour! Beautiful homes, beautiful women.

It’s all beautiful! I especially love the deer picture in your foyer. Like you, I’m not a collector but I do collect trees and deer for my Christmas vignettes. I use those little battery operated mini lights too. They are set to come on a 4:00 and off at 10:00. They lend that magical touch. My colour palette is mostly white with touches of gold and very small additions of red. Looking forward to the rest of your home tour.

Sounds so beautiful!

Beautiful as always!!!

Thank you, Andrea! I loved sharing our home with you!

Loved your tour! It’s always gorgeous!! Thanks so much for all the ideas!

Can you tell me where you found the framed quote “The Lord bless you and keep you”.

Here you go Kay: https://rstyle.me/+asiVZJz4zFnvERel1fh6dg

SOOOOO clean, light, bright and merry – Love everything Yvonne!! Would you mind sharing the source for the beautiful white footed bowl which is holding the pomegranates? LOVE it! Christmas blessings!

Yvonne, your home looks Christmas Beautiful! I love everything about it. I can’t wait to see your post in January about your stair redo. Merry Christmas!

Absolutely gorgeous!!!!

Wow! Your home looks gorgeous for the holiday season. Everything is so elegant and pretty! Love that tree! Pinned.

Thanks, AnnMarie

Your home looks beautiful for the holiday season!

Thanks Kim! Merry Christmas.

Okay… next year, for sure, I want to come at Christmas time! Tanglewood looks amazing, as always. I have to agree, the last minute decision to use the red beads on the mantel was a GREAT idea! And I thought I had a lot of ornaments on my tree! I have to go get my bins out of storage to fill all the ‘holes’ in my tree now! 😉 Can’t wait to see the kitchen and the sunroom… and the bedrooms, as well! LOVE those prints at the end of the counter! Love you, and always love working with you!

Yes, come at Christmastime next year! Lancaster has so much to do!

Merry and bright indeed Yvonne! The red is a big hit this year and I think you found the perfect balance. Everything is lovely and inviting as always. I love the mirror that you used as a tray on the ottoman. I want to try something like that on our round ottoman. Thank you for the inspiration! Happy Christmas!

Thank you Michelle! Merry Christmas!

Very beautiful and unique this yezr.. Some great deas gleamed. Thank you. I did try the link “Making A Bow” for wreath making but got a 404 error..page no longer exists. Hope you can fix that. Thank you

Sorry about that Susan, here you go: https://www.stonegableblog.com/christmas-ribbon-and-bows/

Stunning simplicity. Cozy yet elegant. Perfection! Thanks for sharing ?. I’m in love with the sunroom rug. Did you have it in your other home – do you have a source for it?

Hi! I love that added some color in your rooms. It really refresh’s the decor. Thanks for the tour. I’ll be back to view more?

I think so too! I’m just thinking about what color I can use for winter.

I loved the tour! Where did you find the three Santa-reindeer prints hanging on the wall at the end of your counter?

Hi Cheryl, they are a digital image that I had printed. See them here: https://rstyle.me/+KF99q9LEvHaISec3m95k6w

Beautiful tour, Yvonne! Love how your tree sits between the living and dining area so you can enjoy it all around.

Thanks, Lora. The tree can be seen from almost all of our downstairs rooms.

I love your touch of red throughout and the way you looped the ribbon in your garland! All beautiful!

I noticed you don’t show that beautiful mango bookshelf from this past spring or summer. I am in love with that. Would you be willing to share where you purchased it? I live about an hour away from your area and would love to drive down to the store and shop.

Hi Linda, I loved that bookshelf too. But it was really too big for the foyer so I gave it to a sweet young family. I found it at The Treasure Place in Intercourse. Hope this helps.

Wow Yvonne! Your home looks so beautiful! I adore that mirror! It’s incredible! Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas, Stacy!

Yvonne, Your home looks lovely this Christmas season!! The plaid pillows and touches of red are just the right touch of elegance and added interest. Lovely!!! Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see the bedrooms! How do you keep your cat from creating mayhem with your Christmas tree? I heard cats are famous /infamous for climbing into trees. Nancee

Our cat, for some strange reason, has never touched the tree. Fingers crossed that he won’t this year.

I can’t tell you how much you inspire me with your home tours, Yvonne. Every detail is so beautiful from the little trees displayed throughout your gorgeous house to the bowl of pomegranates on the table. I am amazed by your talent when it comes to holiday ribbons. Both your Christmas tree and mantel are just stunning. Happy holidays!

You are just the sweetest, Kim! I feel the same way when I come to visit your home too! Merry Christmas!

You always so do Christmas so beautifully! I love all the pretty touches (especially that reindeer), Merry Christmas to you and your family. xx

Your holiday home is absolutely stunning, Yvonne! I love how elegant, yet cozy and inviting your home is! Your creativity and talent is such an inspiration. I am so happy to be touring with you. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

I’ve always looked forward to your Christmas tours every year, and this one is just as stunning as ever, Yvonne! I LOVE your small touches of red this year. And I’m pinning that mantel garland for sure. It’s gorgeous. Have a very Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas, Kate!

Hi Yvonne, I just was curious how you fit the tree in a “ collar “. Would that work with a real tree? It looks like a big planter. Looks lovely! Marianne

Hi Marianne, what a great question. The tree color comes in four parts. They click together with a magnet. You would have to know the measurements of your tree stand and then make sure it fits a collar. This is the first year we used a tree collar and won’t go back! Merry Christmas, Marianne.

Lovely house. So warm and inviting. May I ask where you bought the buffet? Thanks.

Hi Carol, I found it at Wayfair. Sorry, they don’t carry it any longer.

Yvonne, your home is beautifully decorated for the holiday season! Where did you get the silhouette in the frame behind the holy family. I love the idea! Merry Christmas!!

Hi Leslie, I found it here: https://rstyle.me/+jK-zgkNyH3UaY7J3wHhdYg

Your home is so lively, warm and inviting. I love all the white! Hoping you feel better soon so your holiday season is magical. Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Cindy!

Hello, I don’t leave replies often, but I had to reply this time. Your home is absolutely beautiful in all its Christmas decor! You did an amazingly festive job! Love it! Your tree is exquisite, and I like the idea that you used it again this year. All rooms shown are beautiful, and I am looking forward to viewing part two. Merry Christmas!

Thanks so much, Sandi. Merry Christmas.

Yvonne, I have been admiring your beautiful flocked tree for years. We decided to invest in fake tree this year and I’m wondering where you got yours. Would you mind passing on that to me?

Hi Cindy, We love our tree. It’s on the slim side and fits nicely in our living room. Here is is: https://rstyle.me/+8G6EEAomLrRLD18-5Scouw

Wow! There’s so much to love! I am definitely taking some ideas with me: The simple White Mary, Joseph and Jesus figurines with the picture of Bethlehem in the background, and just the perfect votives on each side to give it importance; the white bowl in the kitchen with pomegranates; your kitchen curtains, the understated beauty of your decorating. It’s all so beautiful! Thank you for the tour. I loved it very much.

Sweet Mary, thank you so much! Merry Christmas.

Stunning home tour, I love your style, everything about your decor speaks to my love of classic design.xx

Thank you so much, Janette! Merry Christmas.

Thank you for sharing your Beautiful home! You are so blessed with talent, I’m always in awe.

Merry Christmas. Rose.

Love the white reindeer print sitting on the chest in the foyer. Where did you get it? Do you know if it is still available? Everything is beautiful!

Thank you! I found the Reindeer locally. Sorry, I don’t have a source.
