We first start with the city tour in the morning then we decided to book the following day for the everglades. The experience on the hard top convertible bus is unique, my kids went crazy for this bus and we had a blast.Safe driver and very fun guide.
We booked a 2 tours sunset/night tour, it was awesome. The driver/guide drop us shortly to take fews pictures and show us the best spots to go out by night. Beautiful colors to take picture of Miami by the bridge, I recommend it
Ideal to start your Miami vacation. The bus is super nice and we are in the open air, that's the difference. Global tour of Miami and these different neighborhoods. The guide is excellent, dynamic, with a real knowledge of life in Miami. We also stop during the visit, to better discover the neighborhoods. We do not see the time spent. It's great..!!!
My husband and I had a very good time for our vacations in Miami. Andre is an excellent guide and you can really tell he loves what he does. Highly recommend this tour bus.
We had a great time touring Miami on the panoramic bus tour. Seating is comfortable and they don’t cram people in like other bus tours. Towards the end the sun started beating a little hard but the driver closed the glass roof and was perfect with air conditioning.
Had a great tour and would highly recommend. Great to be in an open bus and able to see everything. Had stops in Wynwood to see the walls and in Little Havana. Excellent guide. Nice to be part of a small tour and not be with the masses. A definite must do!!
We had a very good time, the reviews are accurate and the guide is excellent, the cabriolet bus is really great, we stopped at Wynwood where we could visit the Wall, the children were also delighted, an activity to recommend on Miami!
Great experience. Tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. One of the best Miami tours I experience. Learned a lot about the city. I would definitely recommend
Best way to plan the res of your trip. You get to see the hotspots and decide whether you want to return later to spend more time. Great experience especially at night. Miami is lit up!
Friendly driver and open air tour made for a fun evening looking at lights of Miami. Downtown art deco building with lit signs was the highlight. Unimpeded views to look upwards makes all the difference.

Getting around Miami with Metrobus
Designed to connect with Metrorail and Metromover , Miami-Dade County's Metrobus public bus system can take you to all major shopping , entertainment and cultural centers in Greater Miami & Miami Beach. Metrobus routes serve areas of the city the rail doesn't, including Miami Beach , Key Biscayne , Homestead or even as far as Fort Lauderdale or the Florida Keys.
Metrobus operates more than 95 routes with close to 1,000 buses covering 29 million miles per year, 365 days a year. Bus rides start at $2.25 per single trip. The easiest way to pay for a bus ride is with an EASY Ticket , which can purchased at select stations , or a rechargeable EASY Card , which can be purchased via the GO Miami-Dade Transit app for a contactless experience. Another benefit of opting for contactless payment is the daily fare cap of $5.65 no matter how many times you ride. Some bus routes operate 24 hours a day, but check individual route schedules for hours of operation and specific schedules just in case.
If you're staying in Miami Beach and are heading to Miami International Airport , Miami Beach Airport Express provides an inexpensive express connection to the airport from Miami Beach. When vacationing in Miami Beach, you'll also want to familiarize yourself with Route 120 . This bus is the circulator route preferred by South Beach visitors and residents because it runs from Aventura Mall to the Downtown Miami Bus Terminal, where you'll have easy access to the Main Library , HistoryMiami Museum , Government Center Metrorail station , Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus and the Omni Bus Terminal.
Plan Your Public Transportation on your Phone
You can now track Miami public transportation's Metrorail and Metromover in real time, access bus schedules and get connecting route information. You can even find the closest bus stops and stations directly from your phone. No need to have flimsy paper schedules. Just plan your trip directly from your iPhone or Android mobile device. You'll even get up-to-date fare costs and maps. Just download the GO Miami-Dade app , or send a text message with the bus ID number to GOMDT (46638) .

Getting Around Miami: Guide to Public Transportation
TripSavvy / Bailey Mariner
Public transportation in Miami is growing by the year, and with a few different options throughout the Magic City, you’ll be sure to find the one that’s right for getting from Point A to Point B on your trip, no matter how long or short it is. Although the city is still lacking quite a bit compared to other big U.S. cities, it is still possible to get from one place to another and back without having to rent a car or attempt your journey on foot.
How to Ride the Metrorail
Miami’s 25-mile, dual-track takes to you Miami International Airport and runs from Medley in northwest Miami-Dade to Pinecrest with connections to Broward and Palm Beach counties. The Metrorail operates seven days a week from 5 a.m. to midnight, daily, and has a place for you to store your bikes at stations and onboard the trains. WiFi is available on most trains.
- Fare Rates: A single ride costs $2.25 and daily parking fees at stations are $4.50. Unlimited ride passes from one-day, seven-day, and one-month passes are available for $5.65, $29.25, and $112.50 respectively. There are also discounts for Medicare recipients, people with disabilities, and students (K-12).
- How to Pay: Purchase an EASY card or EASY ticket in order to ride Miami’s Metrorail at a station. The fare gates do not accept cash. You can also use the EASY Pay Miami app.
- Routes and Hours: The Metrorail has two lines (Orange and Green) that make stops along South Dixie Highway, in the city center, at the airport, and in Medley including Dadeland South, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Downtown, Civic Center, and Brownsville. The lines make the same stops until Earlington Heights. From there the Orange Line goes to the airport while the Green Line goes to Palmetto station in Medley.
- Accessibility: All Metrorail stations are ADA-compliant with elevators. If a passenger with disabilities is at a train station with a broken elevator, a Custom Protection Officer will help provide back-up transportation.
How to Ride the Metrobus
Miami Metrobus serves various areas throughout the city including Miami Beach, Key Biscayne, West Miami-Dade, Broward County, Homestead, Florida City, and the Middle Keys. Buses, like the Metrorail, are equipped with bike racks and there is free WiFi available.
- Fare Rates: Metrobus fares are the same as the Metrorail. A single ride costs $2.25 unless you're on an express bus traveling between counties, which costs $2.65. Transfers between regular buses are free if done within three hours of the first use. Shuttle buses are $0.25, transfers from a bus to express bus are $0.95, and transfers between rail and bus are $0.60. There are discounts available for Medicare recipients, people with disabilities, and students (K-12).
- How to Pay: You can use an EASY Card, EASY Ticket, the EASY Pay app, contactless payment methods, or cash to ride the Metrobus. Just be sure to have exact change if paying in cash.
- Routes and Hours: There are around 100 different bus routes servicing Miami and surrounding counties. Hours change depending on the route but most buses run at least from 5 a.m. to midnight. To know specific route hours and to plan your journey visit the Miami-Dade Country Metrobus website .
- Accessibility: Most Metrobuses are accessible with wheelchair lifts or ramps available. People using wheelchairs have priority boarding and exit. If a bus is unable to accommodate a passenger, and the next bus is more than 30 minutes away, alternate transportation will be arranged.
Riding the Metromover
This free (yes, free) mass transit automated people mover is operated by Miami-Dade Transit and serves the downtown area including Brickell, Park West, and the Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods. It operates seven days a week at no cost from 5 a.m. to midnight and will get you to and from major destinations like American Airlines Arena, Bayside Marketplace, Miami-Dade College, and the Miami-Dade County School Board.
Trolley Service
The City of Miami has a free trolley with routes throughout Little Havana, Coconut Grove, Wynwood, Coral Way, Brickell, Allapattah and more. For information about the schedule, planned detours, or maps visit the Miami Government's page on the Trolley's website .
Miami is not really known as a bike-friendly city; it’s actually listed as one of the most dangerous city to bike in the U.S. If you do want to ride, though, do it as a way to see the scenery. Some great places to bike in Miami include South Pointe Park and Pier, Amelia Earhart Park and Everglades National Park. Always wear a helmet and take extra precautions if you plan to bike at night or somewhere like Rickenbacker Causeway or any other bridges or causeways.
Car Rentals
You can pick up a car at Miami International Airport and drop it off there again before your departure. There are other car rental locations spread out around town. If you don’t need a car for the duration of your trip, but just a few days, you can reserve one in the Miami Beach area or near the downtown/Midtown neighborhoods. Parking in Miami is a breeze, but if you’ll be staying at a hotel, make sure to check their valet and parking fees ahead of time. There is also an app called Getaround , which allows you to rent a local’s car for the day or just a few hours at a reasonable price. With this particular app, you can reserve a car nearby (often in walking distance) within minutes. The car unlocks and locks again with the app, which requires you to inspect for any bumps or scratches and take a photo of the gas level at pickup (and dropoff). As long as you leave the car with the same amount of gas it had at pickup, you should be fine; otherwise, you might be charged to refill the tank.
Tips for Getting Around Miami
- Miami parking can get quite expensive. Taking public transit is a great way to avoid those high parking fees.
- Renting a car is always a good idea in Miami, but if you plan to drink, park it and take public transportation or rideshare.
- Make sure to carry a debit or credit card. Cash is not accepted at the fare gates for the Metrorail.
- If you're driving, don't get gas near the airport. The cost is often upwards of $4.99 a gallon.

Tours depart daily at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. The company also offers private tours and sunset tours.

How to get around on Miami public transportation
Explore Miami’s public transit options like a pro with our guide to getting around the city via bus, rail and bike.
Navigating Miami can be tough, especially if you’re trying to make it to all of Miami’s best neighborhoods, from South Beach to Brickell . Some areas are pedestrian-friendly but don’t expect to commute on foot for longer than 10 or 15 minutes at a time—especially during the boiling summer months.
Renting a car in Miami can be a good idea for extended stays, but if you’re planning to hit up a few of the best Wynwood bars or Miami’s famous clubs , you’ll probably want to seek an alternative. That’s where Maimi’s public transportation comes in. Buses, trolleys, trains and bikes are all on the menu, albeit on a smaller scale than in some other big cities. There are even a few good free public transit options. Keep reading to get briefed everything you need to know about Miami public transportation.

Guide to Miami public transportation
1. Metromover
The Metromover is one of three train lines in Miami-Dade (Metromover, Metrorail and Tri-Rail). The Metromover is the smallest of the three with 21 stops, but the most efficient and convenient. With cars arriving every 90 seconds during rush hours and every three minutes during off-peak hours, the elevated, electric monorail runs three very short loops around Downtown: Omni Loop, Inner Loop and Brickell Loop (daily 5am–midnight). The Metromover is free and can help you bypass Downtown and Brickell's absolutely horrific traffic, boasting direct stops at the Brickell City Centre and Bayfront Park .
2. Miami Trolley
The Miami trolley is a great free way to get around certain areas of the city. On the mainland , these orange and green vehicles operate in Downtown, Brickell, Coconut Grove, Edgewater, Little Havana, Miami Beach, Wynwood and more. Trolley service starts at 6:30am on weekdays and Saturdays and runs through 11pm on most routes. Service runs from 8am to 8pm on Sundays. You can track the trolley live online . When you see one, you can try to flag it down (they won’t stop if they’re full) or—the easier option—find a marked stop. Once aboard, feel free to ask the driver the best place to get off for your destination.
3. Citi Bike
Citi Bike is Miami's solar-powered bike-sharing system. The blue branded bikes and their docking stations are instantly recognizable and readily available throughout the county. Though there’s a membership option, visitors will most likely opt to rent the bikes by the half-hour ($5.75), hour ($7.95) or day ($24). Unlock a bike from any station , ride wherever you want (bikes are not allowed aboard the Metrorail or Metromover systems) and return your bike to any station. You can also park your bike and check out another during the same rental period. Just note that the rental period starts at the time of your original transaction.
4. Metrobus
Though it’s the most comprehensive transportation system we have, Miamians have a love/hate relationship with our city buses. The Metrobus vehicles are clean and air-conditioned but they travel along congested routes and can run on unreliable schedules. The frequency of service varies by route, time and day of the week: as often as every 10 or 15 minutes or as far apart as every 45 minutes. A one-way bus fare starts at $2.25 using an EASY Card, EASY Ticket, the GO Miami-Dade Transit app, contactless payment or cash. Free WiFi is also available.
5. Metrorail
Think of the Metrorail as the Metromover’s bigger, yet more complicated cousin. The 25-mile elevated train system runs from Palmetto (north) to Dadeland (south), with stops around every mile. But the Metrorail isn’t as easy as the free, hop-on-hop-off Metromover. A single trip costs $2.25 (purchased via contactless payment, EASY Card, EASY ticket or the GO Miami-Dade Transit app). Visitors may find Metrorail useful for trips to Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Vizcaya or coming from or going to Miami International Airport. There are also connections to Broward and Palm Beach counties at three locations and free Wi-Fi on board.
6. Tri-Rail
Running in a pretty straight north/south line from Miami to West Palm Beach, Miami’s largest rail system is good for those looking to travel a far distance or see another county. The Tri-Rail does connect with certain Metrorail stops and—unlike the Metrorail—cash is an option when purchasing your ticket. Buy your passes at ticket vending machines located at every station or via the Tri-Rail app . Fares depend on how far you’re going but remain reasonable—they hover around $2.50 to $8.75 for a one-way ticket.
7. Brightline
The Brightline is a privately-owned inter-city rail that connects Downtown Miami to Orlando in around 3.5 hours. Along the way, you can stop in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, with around 30 minutes between each stop. Ideal for out-of-town excursions and day trips, the Brightline is modern and comfy, with bars and restaurants located in stations in addition to onboard dining and drinking options. That kind of convenience doesn’t come as cheap, with one-way tickets starting at around $20 per passenger to Fort Lauderdale.
8. Ride-share apps
An Uber or Lyft is generally cheaper and quicker than a taxi and can be tracked on your smartphone more reliably. Plus, you can customize your ride with economy and premium vehicles. Lyft gives riders the ability to opt for a shared car to cut costs. Though Uber has done away with carpooling for now, they have added Green (eco-friendly) and Comfort (more legroom) options, plus the ability to transport packages and pets.
9. Freebee
Not many folks know about the Freebee —which makes it a great option, especially in crowded areas like Miami Beach. As the name implies, the ride is free, though tipping is still strongly encouraged. Order one of Freebee’s electric vehicles just like you would an Uber or Lyft. They currently operate in Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, Doral, Downtown, Key Biscayne, Miami Beach and many other neighborhoods ( download the app to view all service areas near you).
10. Taxi
Taxis aren’t very popular with locals. They can be expensive and unreliable. Meters start at approximately $3—but can vary from cab to cab, and not always in your favor. Tipping is expected as well. Taxis can be a good choice when leaving the airport, as Ubers and Lyfts can be tough to track and find at the busy terminals (tack on a $2.00 airport origination fee to your base fare). But, other than that, we highly recommend using a ride-share app for quick, trustworthy results.

Best time to visit Miami
Apr 12, 2024 • 5 min read
No matter what time of year you visit Miami, there's always plenty to see and do © Alexander Spatari / Getty Images
With its white-sand beaches and green palms aplenty, Miami is an aesthetically pleasing tropical paradise – but it can be more or less so depending on when you visit.
The year-round South Florida heat can be pleasant at times, especially for snowbirds (northerners traveling south for some winter sunshine), but you might prefer to travel outside of the hottest months. Fan of the outdoors? You'll want to know when to go to avoid the rain and mosquitoes that could put a damper on outdoor excursions. Though extroverts could thrive amidst the high-season crowds, you may choose to visit when it's not so packed with partygoers. And no matter what type of vacation you want, it can help to know the cheapest time to visit so your money can stretch further.
Whether you're into sports or the arts, dining or dancing, there's always something to do in the Magic City. So when exactly is the best time to visit Miami?
Visiting for the weekend? We have the itinerary for you
December through February is the best time for Miami's great outdoors
Whether you're visiting to get some sun on South Beach – SoBe for those in the know – or you really want to explore the vastness of the Everglades , the winter months (Miami's high season) are the perfect time for both. Sure, the Atlantic might be a tad chillier in these months when you first dip your toes in the water, but you'll quickly adjust. With temperatures in the mid- to high 70s, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much sun you can soak up in February. Even in January, Miami's coldest month, you can still get away with mostly packing shorts and tees for your visit. Just make sure to pack a jacket or hoodie as the evenings can occasionally get chilly (plus locals love to crank up the air-con in most indoor venues).
Birding attracts many visitors during this season as well. You'll see plenty of folks flocking to the Everglades with binoculars in hand to catch glimpses of wood storks, spoonbills and even bald eagles. But you can also see plenty of feathered friends in some of Miami's other public spaces. Hiking, biking, fishing and boating are equally popular all over the city thanks to the lack of bugs and humidity at this time of year. Oleta River State Park is one such hot spot for getting outside on the east side of town.

March through May is made for Miami's best celebrations
Miami is often inundated with spring breakers come March and April (on some days it can be near impossible to get on or off Miami Beach), and the city's service industry is ready for them. But it isn't just party-loving teens and twentysomethings who take over the Magic City during these months. DJs and music lovers from around the world gather here every March for Winter Music Conference and Miami Music Week . The result is dance parties and pop-up events at the city's best lounges, clubs and music venues, along with workshops and other educational programming for the next generation of DJs. It also coincides with the massive Ultra Music Festival – a multiday outdoor gathering for EDM lovers that takes place in downtown Miami each year.
Once April rolls around, the parties continue thanks to Miami Beach Pride – a two-week celebration for the local LGBTIQ+ community. While many other cities host their Pride in June, that also happens to be the start of hurricane season in Miami (when the wet season commences), so Miamians get their festivities going ahead of time. From art shows and movie nights to Pride pageants, drag shows, family picnics, parades and more, the city pulls out all the stops, rainbow flags a-flying.
April is also when the month-long O, Miami Poetry Festival occurs. Dedicated to spreading a love and appreciation for poetry throughout the city, the festival features everything from poetry workshops and book release parties to all kinds of innovative art installations and experiences that put poetry front and center. And if that's not enough, the Miami Film Festival also happens in April, showcasing independent films from around the world for South Florida's movie lovers.
June through November is best for budget and flexible travelers
Is Miami uncomfortably hot in the summer? In a word, absolutely. But if you're looking to travel on a budget and are fine wearing as little clothing as possible (while also acknowledging you might occasionally get drenched due to near-daily afternoon downpours), this is the time to do it. Miami's hottest months are July and August, so if you're sensitive to hot sand and bright sun, this might not be your favorite time to hit the beach. That said, Miami's beaches are generally crowded in summer just the same.
If you do visit at this time of year, take advantage of Miami's many indoor attractions. Families will love checking out the Miami Children's Museum , which has multiple floors of hands-on fun with plenty of accessible features including sensory activities. If you're staying further west, places like the shopping and entertainment complex CityPlace Doral offer plenty to do, including Marina Kids (an indoor playground) and Kinds Entertainment (featuring bowling, foosball, food and more). Other indoor options include going to see a Miami Heat basketball game or checking out one-of-a-kind immersive art experiences like SuperBlue or the Artech House .
Keep in mind that hurricane season in Miami officially begins in June and goes on through the end of November. However, while the threat is there, peak storm activity happens between August and October. This means a higher probability of flight cancellations, so make sure you're able to stay flexible with your travel plans. The good news is hotel rates tend to be a bit lower around this time, especially on weekdays with kids returning to school. Early fall offers a slight respite from the summer heat and fewer crowds at some of the city's more popular attractions as well, so book tickets to check out places like the Pérez Art Museum , Frost Museum of Science and Jungle Island .
