IRCTC Change Journey Date:  Confused about how to change journey date on IRCTC? Read through this article to know IRCTC Change Journey Date: How to Reschedule Your E-Ticket.

You may not be aware of it, but you can change the date on your train ticket via the IRCTC. However, you can only use this service once. You can alter the date of your travel with the Indian Railways.

On confirmed/RAC/waitlisted tickets, Indian Railways lets travellers to change the departure date, although this service is only available once. Consider the following example: You have a reservation for December 15 but decide to leave on December 24. Many of us choose cancellation instead of changing the date of our confirmed/RAC/waitlisted tickets, incurring penalties and making it challenging to book a new ticket.

You must make plans ahead of time and buy your train tickets two to three months before the departure date if you need to take a train. It means that getting a confirmed rail ticket for an impromptu excursion is more challenging. Passengers whose travel plans have been abruptly changed owing to unforeseeable circumstances may change the date of their journey as an alternative to cancelling their tickets. Indian Railways also gives its passengers the option to change their boarding station, upgrade to a better class of travel, travel further than originally planned, transfer their tickets to family members, and do many other things. While some of these benefits are only available to those who purchase offline tickets, others apply to both offline and online purchases.

Up to 24 hours prior to the intended departure time, customers can modify their boarding station on train tickets that were purchased online. Passengers will no longer be able to board the train at the original station once it has been changed. If you are caught travelling, you will be fined. 7. It will ask for confirmation; click OK to confirm.

8. A message indicating that your embarkation point has been successfully changed will appear.

You will also get confirmation at the email address and mobile number you registered.

At least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, passengers may also change the boarding station by getting in touch with the station management at the original boarding station or any computerised reservation centre. Please be aware that unused portions will not be refunded.

Is it possible for me to stay on my trip after it has ended?

Yes, Indian Railways allows its customers to travel further than they originally intended. If you want to have your ticket checked, you can do it before or after you get there. They will help you with this, but the cost of a lengthy trip is your own.

How can I change to a higher class on my ticket?

You are allowed to upgrade your ticket while you’re on the road if there are accommodations available. Either before you set out on your journey or when you come across a Travelling Ticket Examiner along the way, you can upgrade your ticket.

Call the railway’s customer care line if you have any queries and would like to upgrade your ticket to a higher class, and they will guide you through the process.

Understanding IRCTC and e-Tickets

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, or  IRCTC , is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that handles the catering, tourism, and online ticketing operations. It’s an integral part of India’s vast railway network, facilitating millions of bookings every day.

One of the key services offered by IRCTC is the  e-ticketing system . This system allows passengers to book their train tickets online, from the comfort of their homes. It’s a far cry from the traditional method of standing in long queues at the railway station. With e-tickets, all you need is an internet connection and a device to book your tickets.

E-tickets come with a unique PNR (Passenger Name Record) number that holds all the details of the journey. This includes the passenger’s name, train number, journey date, boarding point, destination, and the fare paid. The best part? You don’t have to carry a physical ticket. The e-ticket on your phone or any digital device is enough.

Now, we’ll discuss why you might need to prepone your journey and how the IRCTC e-ticketing system can accommodate this change. Stay tuned!

Why You Might Need to Prepone Your Journey

It is not possible to prepond or postpone an e-ticket. Only option is to cancel and rebook.

Ticket counter employees are not ready to change the journey date of online confirmed ticket. They are reluctantly asking us to cancel the ticket online and then come for booking! So online portal should avail the facility to change of date !

Indian Railways Allows You to Transfer Your Train Ticket to Family Members; Here's How to do it

train journey date change

The announcement comes in a bid to provide a comfortable and convenient travel experience to passengers. (Representational Image)

The change in date of travel on the tickets can be done by paying the prescribed fees.

Getting a confirmed train ticket in India is not an easy job. You have to plan for the journey months in advance and book tickets to get reserved seats on the train. However, some unforeseen circumstances can bring a change in plan, and you might have to cancel the ticket. But we all know that getting another confirmed ticket is not a guarantee, so what do we do in such a situation? For times like these, there are options offered by Indian Railways that could help you manage your train ticket.

Very few people know that the railway allows passengers to reschedule their journey according to needs to avoid the cancellation of tickets. There is also an option to change boarding station. All you need to do is write to the station master of the original boarding station in case of offline tickets.

In tickets booked online, passengers can log in to their IRCTC account and update their preference at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure.

Reschedule Your Journey

The date of the journey on a reserved ticket can be changed once if the seat is confirmed or RAC or Waiting. However, this facility is only available for offline tickets, and tickets booked online come with no flexibility in date. To reschedule the journey, the passenger needs to submit his ticket to the reservation office at least 48 hours before the train leaves.

The change in date of travel on the tickets can be done by paying the prescribed fees. Tickets can be preponed or postponed in the higher or same category for the same destination.

Confirmed Ticket Transfer

Passengers can transfer their confirmed tickets to family members — father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, son or daughter. You have to submit your request at least 24 hours before the journey begins. However, this facility is not available for tickets booked under special rules and concession.

Extend/ Upgrade your journey

Passengers can also extend their journey on the same ticket by approaching the ticket checking staff on the train. The extended journey fare will be calculated without the benefits of telescopic rates.

Passengers can also upgrade to a higher class by paying the difference in the fare. This upgrade can also be done during the train journey by approaching the ticket check staff. However, the upgrade is subject to the availability of seats.

Rush-hour commuters at Penn Station faced a shutdown of close to an hour, followed by extensive delays, after Amtrak investigated a report of a problem with overhead wires.

New Jersey Transit service was disrupted once again on Monday evening, with travel suspended in and out of Pennsylvania Station for nearly an hour because of a report of a problem with Amtrak overhead wires in one of the Hudson River tunnels.

Service was suspended at 6:37 p.m. and resumed shortly before 7:30 p.m., but trains were still subject to delays of up to 60 minutes, a New Jersey Transit spokesman said.

It was at least the fifth disruption for New Jersey commuters in the last two months, and the third in less than a week. Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains share the portion of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor between New York City and Trenton, N.J., so issues with Amtrak tracks or wires immediately affect New Jersey Transit service.

Trains were held in place for about 25 minutes, or in some cases pulled back to Penn Station, according to a New Jersey Transit customer service representative.

An Amtrak spokesman said service had been suspended as a precautionary measure after a report of trouble with the overhead wires that provide the electricity that powers trains moving in and out of Penn Station. The inspection turned up no problems, he said, so service resumed after about half an hour.

During the shutdown, trains were diverted to Hoboken, N.J., and New Jersey Transit rail tickets were accepted for rides by private bus companies and PATH trains in Newark, Hoboken, N.J., and Midtown Manhattan.

Inside Penn Station, about a hundred travelers set their backpacks and bags on the ground and looked up at the screens.

“We’re sorry for the inconvenience,” a robotic voice called out over the speakers.

Amanda Marvin and her three children had just arrived in New York from Kansas City and after a day in Manhattan were heading to their Airbnb in Newark.

But the family was temporarily stranded at Penn Station. “I have no idea what plan B is,” Ms. Marvin said. Still, she was in good spirits, giving New York City “two thumbs up.”

But for some commuters who rely on the service every day, the latest delays were hugely frustrating. “On days like this when everything shuts down, things become exceedingly exhausting,” said Kurt Switala, who works in finance in Manhattan and lives in Montclair, N.J. He said Amtrak had to fix the system. “There’s a long need to do long-postponed repairs.”

Rishi Alok, who commutes into the city from Middlesex County, said the delays occurred frequently, usually a couple of times a week. Each delay adds about an hour and a half to his commute. But the delays happen so frequently that Mr. Alok said he didn’t get angry anymore. “You get used to it,” he said.

The disruption on Monday evening came on the heels of other major rush-hour delays at Penn Station in the past month.

On Thursday, one of the hottest days of this year, an afternoon power failure left thousands of commuters stuck at Penn Station and on trains that had no air-conditioning. On Friday morning, a disabled train caused delays of as much as an hour in and out of Penn Station.

Last Tuesday morning, New Jersey Transit service into and out of Penn Station was suspended for about an hour and all Amtrak trains passing through the station were delayed because of overhead wire issues and a disabled commuter train on the tracks, train officials said.

That disruption ruined the morning commute for thousands of New Jersey residents as the delays rippled out along the various rail lines in the state.

Service was also disrupted in May when an overhead wire used for traffic signals fell and struck a cable in Kearny, N.J., that provides electrical power to trains on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains were halted in both directions between Penn Station and Newark, and delays stretched to more than four hours.

Roger Harris, president of Amtrak, addressed the problem of unrelenting disruptions and delays in a letter to customers last week in which he apologized and said a “unique combination of events” had caused the major interruptions along the Northeast corridor.

“Regardless of the causes that led to these delays, you deserve better service and we are committed to providing it,” he stated. “We are reviewing each incident with the goal of improving your future travel, while continuing to advance unprecedented investments that are modernizing and strengthening the Northeast corridor.”

I took a plane and a train on the 330-mile London to Edinburgh route. The race was closer than you might expect.

  • The 332 miles between London and Edinburgh takes a similar amount of time by plane or train.
  • I took both modes of transport and timed how long it took from the center of each city.
  • The train was only slightly longer, but cheaper, more comfortable — and more convenient.

Insider Today

The 332 miles between London and Edinburgh show a particularly narrow difference when traveling via train or plane .

While the flight takes about an hour compared to a nearly five-hour train ride, there's also time spent traveling to the airport and waiting to board.

I grew up near London, and because my dad is from Edinburgh, we visited the Scottish capital every summer. We flew once or twice, but it was typically easier to take the train.

Last month, I visited Edinburgh for a press event and took the opportunity to time my journeys. I traveled north on an LNER Azuma train and returned the next day on a British Airways Airbus A320 .

The contest was indeed close, and even though the train took longer, it was cheaper and more enjoyable.

I started my stopwatch at Trafalgar Square in the heart of London.

train journey date change

A plaque here reads: "On the site now occupied by the statue of King Charles I was erected the original Queen Eleanor's cross, a replica of which stands in front of Charing Cross station. Mileages from London are measured from the site of the original cross."

Similarly, the center of Edinburgh is traditionally measured from a now-demolished post office near the train station.

train journey date change

Already, this highlights the main benefit of traveling by train — especially in a city like Edinburgh where the main attractions are in a compact area.

It was only a short walk to the nearest Tube station, and I was on a train within 8 minutes.

train journey date change

I arrived at King's Cross Station about 20 minutes before my train departed, which gave me plenty of time.

train journey date change

There was an unusually big crowd of people for a Wednesday afternoon because some other trains had been delayed. Luckily, mine was on time.

train journey date change

It was only a short wait before our platform number was announced and passengers flooded toward the ticket barriers. We departed on time, 37 minutes after I left Trafalgar Square.

train journey date change

In Edinburgh, I took a 35-minute tram journey from the center to the airport. The security line was pretty speedy.

train journey date change

I arrived at the airport an hour and 50 minutes before my flight's departure time.

With time to sit around, I had lunch in a Wetherspoons pub. Given my experiment, I found all the train memorabilia ironic — but this also signals the strong history of British railways.

train journey date change

I'd been at the airport for an hour by the time the gate opened — then another 25 minutes before I boarded.

train journey date change

Unfortunately, my flight was delayed by 45 minutes. I adjusted for that on my timer, but we still wouldn't have taken off until two-and-a-half hours after I left Waverley station.

train journey date change

All the plane timings in this piece exclude the delay.

London to Edinburgh is clearly a popular route for BA, as before the safety demonstration, the pilot said: "I know many of you are probably frequent fliers."

For those regularly making this journey, there's the benefit of loyalty points which you wouldn't get on a budget airline or a train.

By the time we took off, my train had almost reached York, its third stop on the East Coast Main Line, and roughly halfway to Edinburgh.

But the flight itself would take just over an hour, traveling at roughly 300 mph versus the train's top speed of 125 mph..

train journey date change

The only true high-speed rail in Britain goes between London and the Channel Tunnel. A second line on the West Coast, known as HS2, is planned to be Europe's fastest — but construction has been delayed and cut down.

On the other hand, the train is far better for the environment given that it carries more people. I traveled on a Class 801/2 which has 611 seats compared to the plane's 180.

train journey date change

Soon after takeoff, the flight attendants offered passengers a free bottle of water and either peanuts or cookies.

train journey date change

The LNER has a café car on board, but wasn't serving any hot food on my journey. You can also order via a QR code on the seatback.

However, I found the legroom and seat width to be less than ideal, even at 5-foot-9.

train journey date change

I flew on a British Airways Airbus A320 for $195. It's definitely better than flying budget.

On the train, I was comfortable with plenty of room — plus an extending tray table for my laptop.

train journey date change

The free Wi-Fi wasn't great, but I wrote a Business Insider article. I spent the rest of the journey reading or taking in the views.

train journey date change

After three and a half hours total, the plane landed at a sunny Heathrow Airport, but it took another 20 minutes to leave, with time to deplane and a long jet bridge walk.

train journey date change

The timings were aided by the fact that I only had hand luggage.

I took the Elizabeth Line and the Tube back to Trafalgar Square, arriving 4 hours and 52 minutes later.

train journey date change

No budget airline uses Heathrow, so it would take even longer to reach the center if you flew with easyJet or Ryanair.

By train, I reached the center of Edinburgh after 5 hours and 21 minutes.

train journey date change

If you have checked bags or were traveling with a budget airline, the plane would take just as long, if not longer.

I found the train to be more comfortable and convenient. Plus, if you book in advance, it would likely be cheaper than a budget airline.

The LNER starts at £49 ($62). While a Ryanair flight starts at £17 ($21), the price of a checked bag — plus the train into London from Stansted Airport — would bring that up to £65 ($82).

So, if you're visiting the UK and want to visit both cities, the train would be cheaper since luggage is free.

Plus, there's the added benefit of seeing so much of the countryside, and some great seaside views too.

Disney Genie+ is going away at Walt Disney World , sort of.

Starting July 24, Genie+ will be called Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Individual Lightning Lanes will be called Lightning Lane Single Passes, but that’s not the biggest change.

Beginning that same day, guests will be able to reserve rides and shows ahead of time instead of having to wait for park days, as part of changes first teased in May 2023 .

“Lightning Lane passes will blend features from our current services and the previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the choice to plan ahead and removing the hassle of planning during their vacation,”  the Florida resort announced Tuesday .

Here’s what guests should know.

How does Disney Lightning Lane work?

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass will include the same rides currently covered by Genie+ as well as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure , which opens on June 28. A la carte Lightning Lane Single Passes will be available for the most popular attractions at each park, like Individual Lightning Lanes .

However, starting July 24, guests will no longer have to wait for their park day to reserve experiences.

  • Guests staying at Disney World’s resort hotels can make selections up to seven days in advance, all at once, for up to 14 days of their stay. Other guests can make selections up to three days in advance.
  • Guests can make up to three advance Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections for each day of their trip. Once they arrive at the park and complete their first experience, they can book additional experiences pending availability. Lightning Lane Single Passes remain limited to two per day, like Individual Lightning Lanes are currently.
  • Guests will also be able to see prices and select attraction times before purchasing passes “so you know what you’re getting.” Currently, guests have to purchase Genie+ before they can see availability. Disney World’s app and website will be updated for easier planning and purchasing.

How much is the Lightning Lane at Disney World?

Disney Lightning Lane pricing varies by date and park.

There will be no price increase related to these changes.

Halfway to the holidays: Disney announces the return of Jollywood Nights

Why is Genie+ changing?

Disney World said: “Guests have told us they would prefer to have the option to do more of their planning before their theme park day. So, this summer we will make changes to our Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry, including new ways to plan ahead.”

Will Disney Genie still be available?

The free Disney Genie planning tool will still be available for all guests to help plan their trips. The paid Genie+ service is the one changing.

Is Disneyland’s Genie+ changing?

Disneyland will also adopt the new names for Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes, but they will still operate the way they do currently.

Again! NJ Transit resumes service to NY Penn with heavy delays

By jennifer millman • published june 21, 2024 • updated on june 21, 2024 at 9:31 pm.

And now this.

NJ Transit and Amtrak riders found themselves stranded again Friday, with rail service suspended in and out of New York's Penn Station during the morning rush -- and another few hours after that.

24/7 New York news stream: Watch NBC 4 free wherever you are

Again, NJ Transit cited Amtrak overhead wire issues as the problem.

Amtrak attributed the mess to a disabled commuter train in Penn Station and said it didn't anticipate service being fully restored until noon Friday.

Service Disruption: As of 8:24 am ET, Due to a disabled commuter train in New York (NYP), All rail services will be delayed/modified between PHL & NYP. Resumption of service is estimated at 12:00 pm. It comes less than a day after a power issue caused a lengthy disruption of both NJ Transit and Amtrak heading into the evening rush hour.

Amtrak had previously said that service suspension, which lasted hours Thursday afternoon, was caused by a "malfunctioning circuit breaker" that caused a loss of power on the tracks between Newark Penn Station and Newark Union Station. Amtrak and NJ Transit later said  a brush fire in Secaucus  had also caused issues for trains.

Earlier in the week,  Amtrak warned  the high temperatures the region is facing could require trains to operate at lower speeds and result in afternoon delays of up to 60 minutes.

Election latest: Starmer denies Labour are giving up battle against Farage

Sir Keir Starmer has denied reports Labour have given up on their candidate in Clacton because of jealousy about his success on social media. Meanwhile, the prime minister has refused to say if he told and aide the 4 July date of the general election before he placed a bet on it.

Rishi Sunak took questions from workers at a pottery plant in Derbyshire a short while ago - but they didn't exactly heap on the praise.

One worker told the PM that things had got "infinitely worse" since 2010 when the Tories took office, including soaring use of food banks which he labelled "not acceptable".

The PM replied: "I don't want anyone to have to use a food bank.

"But I'm also very grateful to all those people who volunteer for them, who support them, so that they are there for those who need."

He acknowledged there are "lots of frustrations that you, and others, will have about some things in the past".

But he argued the election is "about the future", and pitched the Conservatives as the party of financial security.

He was pushed on the matter of taxing "the millionaires and the billionaires" more, but replied: "Actually the proportion of tax paid by the richest people in income tax is higher today than it was in 2010 ... so that is already happening.

"And I want to keep cutting taxes for everyone who's working hard."

Earlier this week, Sir Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak took part in an election event hosted by The Sun, which saw both take questions from the newspaper's readers.

One moment that has since caused a stir on social media was when the Labour leader appeared to single out people from Bangladesh when discussing illegal migrants not being deported quickly enough.

He has today sought to clarify that he values the "massive contribution" Bangladeshis have made to the UK - and the "longstanding and strong relationship" they have with the Labour Party.

Sir Keir said his first overseas trip as a Labour MP was to Bangladesh, and that many of his constituents are from the country.

"The reference in the debate the other day was an example of a country considered safe as far as asylum is concerned, and one of the countries that's actually got a returns agreement with us," he added.

"That is actually a good thing," said the Labour leader, adding: "I certainly wasn't intending to cause any concern or offence."

Reports in recent days have suggested Labour may have all but given up fighting for the seat of Clacton ahead of the election next week.

According to The Guardian, the party isn't doing much to help their candidate Jovan Owusu-Nepaul because officials are upset at how much traction he's been getting on social media - with some posts apparently getting more engagement than those by Sir Keir Starmer.

Mr Owusu-Nepaul has reportedly been deployed to the West Midlands for the campaign there instead, with his party seemingly abandoning the Essex seaside town.

Clacton has been in the spotlight during the campaign since Reform's Nigel Farage entered the race there.

Labour leader Sir Keir has insisted there's still a fight to be had.

"We are fighting everywhere, including in Clacton," he said.

"We want to take the fight to the Tories and Reform wherever they are.

"We are not backing down in Clacton, we are not backing down anywhere across the country."

The other candidates besides Mr Owusu-Nepaul and Mr Farage are:

  • Matthew Bensilum, Lib Dems;
  • Craig Jamieson, Climate Party;
  • Tony Mack, independent;
  • Natasha Osben, Greens;
  • Tasos Papanastasiou, Heritage Party;
  • Andrew Pemberton, UKIP;
  • Giles Watling, Conservatives.

Rishi Sunak has refused to say if he told one of his closest parliamentary aides the date of the election before he placed a bet on it.

Just to remind you, Craig Williams, who has now been suspended as the Conservative candidate in Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr, admitted he "committed a serious error of judgment" but "not an offence" and declared he would continue to fight to win his seat.

Speaking to broadcasters, the PM insisted he was "furious" when he first learned about the allegations, and added "if anyone is breaking the rules, they should face the full consequences of the law, whether that's the Gambling Commission or the police."

Pushed repeatedly on whether he told Mr Williams - his parliamentary private secretary - the date in advance, Mr Sunak refused to say.

"It's absolutely not right when there are ongoing independent investigations, that those aren't compromised in any way, shape or form, they are rightly confidential," he said.

On behalf of all broadcasters, Sky's Sam Coates pointed out to Mr Sunak he cannot prejudice an investigation, only a jury.

But Mr Sunak still refused to say if he told Mr Williams the date of the election before it became public.

"Whilst there are ongoing independent investigations, including, as you said, by the police, it's important that those matters are allowed to proceed properly."

The other candidates for Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr are:

  • Jeremy Brignell-Thorp, Green Party;
  • Oliver Lewis, Reform UK;
  • Glyn Preston, Liberal Democrats;
  • Elwyn Vaughan, Plaid Cymru;
  • Steve Witherden, Labour.

It's the morning after the night that saw Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer clash for the final time before the general election.

Here's everything you need to know - and some of what's still to come.

  • Reform UK  has won the backing of Sir John Hall, a former Tory donor and Newcastle United owner;
  • He was introduced at a campaign event by Nigel Farage , as the party looks for more support with just a week to go until polling day.
  • The Metropolitan Police have issued an update on their investigation into bets being placed on the date of the election;
  • There are now seven officers under investigation ;
  • Meanwhile, a Gambling Commission source has told Sky News the force could take over all cases currently being looked into - including those involving parliamentary candidates and party officials.
  • Junior doctors are on strike today and have expressed disappointment at the approaches of both the Tory government and Labour;
  • The co-chair of the BMA's junior doctors committee told Sky News the prime minister had failed to offer a "credible commitment" on pay ;
  • He also warned Keir Starmer strikes would continue if his possible new government didn't "negotiate in good faith".
  • Elsewhere, our political reporter Faye Brown has revealed more large donations from the chancellor to his local party;
  • Jeremy Hunt is under huge threat from the Lib Dems in his constituency of Godalming and Ash and has donated another £32,000 of his own money, latest figures reveal.

You won't want to miss tonight's Politics Hub With Sophy Ridge at 7pm, which features the latest of our in-depth interviews with party leaders.

This time it's the man who could be Britain's next prime minister: Labour's Sir Keir Starmer.

Stick with us through the afternoon for the latest news and analysis from the campaign trail.

A donor who has given more than £500,000 to the Conservative Party since 2007 has defected to Reform UK.

Sir John Hall, the former Newcastle United owner, is at Nigel Farage's rally in County Durham that is under way now.

He was integral to funding the Conservative 2017 snap election campaign, called by then PM Theresa May.

Speaking at the rally, Mr Farage said he is "delighted" that Sir John has joined them and given a donation to the party.

The businessman did not join Mr Farage on stage, but waved from the back of the hall as the crowd stood up and cheered.

As the election campaign enters the final week, Rishi Sunak has acknowledged that voters have left the Conservative Party in recent years - but appealed for public support.

Speaking during a visit to a pottery factory in Derbyshire, the prime minister said: "I understand why many of you might be hesitant about supporting us again at this election.

"I'm not blind to the frustrations that you feel about me, about our party."

He blamed many of the struggles on COVID and the war in Ukraine, but did concede the Tories "haven't got everything right", saying: "We've made mistakes, and we haven't made as much progress in all areas as we would have liked."

But he went on: "This is not a by-election. This is a choice about the future of our country and a choice that is going to have profound consequences for you, your family finances and the direction of our nation.

"Before you make that choice, you should just think very hard about what a Labour government would actually mean for you."

The PM said "you can't be sure" because Sir Keir Starmer "changes his mind on almost every major position he has taken".

As the general election campaign enters its final week, the party leaders are out on the campaign trail making their pitches to voters.

Rishi Sunak has just given a stump speech at a pottery factory in Derbyshire as he tries to claw back a few of the voters who have abandoned his party, and is now holding a Q&A.

Watch in the stream below:

Meanwhile, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is giving a speech in County Durham as he continues his attempt to destroy the Conservative Party and win seats in parliament.

You can watch that one here:

The Metropolitan Police has just given an update on the investigation into bets around the general election.

Seven police officers have so far been identified as having placed bets on the timing of the election, the force said.

One of Rishi Sunak's close protection officers was arrested 10 days ago on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The officer has been bailed and is subject to restricted duties.

A further six officers have been identified as having placed bets on the timing of the election, and are under investigation by the Gambling Commission.

The Met also clarified exactly how the investigation will work.

Bets that are suspected to fall under the cheating section of the Gambling Act will be investigated by the Gambling Commission, and are "likely to make up the majority of cases".

The gambling watchdog is empowered to bring criminal prosecutions where crimes are suspected to have been committed.

Bets that are suspect to be in breach of the Gambling Act, but with "special features" that could mean other offences could apply, such as misconduct in public office, will be "assessed by the Met's Specialist Crime Command to determine what further investigation is required".

"The number of these cases is likely to be much smaller than those in the first category," the force said.

In a statement, Andrew Rhodes, chief executive of the Gambling Commission, said they are "focused on an investigation into confidential information being used to gain an unfair advantage when betting on the date of the general election".

He added they cannot provide the names of anyone potentially under suspicion "to protect the integrity of the investigation and to ensure a fair and just outcome".
