Green tick travel insurance: disastrous experience.

My recent encounter with Green Tick Travel Insurance has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Despite purchasing top cover, including 24-hour medical assistance, the company has not only failed to pay our claim over two months after the event but has also shown a complete lack of assistance during our time of need. This review aims to shed light on the abysmal service provided by Green Tick Travel Insurance, cautioning potential customers to think twice before entrusting their travel safety to this company. Unfulfilled Promises: One of the main reasons we chose Green Tick Travel Insurance was their promise of comprehensive coverage and round-the-clock medical assistance. However, when I found myself in a dire situation, their response was far from what we expected. I required timely medical assistance, needing to access urgent services, including a medical evacuation. We had requested preauthorisation and, it became evident that their claims of providing assistance were nothing more than empty words. Could not get a timely response and therefore had to pay significant costs upfront for potentially lifesaving treatments. We were fortunate to have access to a credit card and funds via family back in Australia to cover up front costs. Lack of Payment:To add insult to injury, Green Tick Travel Insurance has not yet paid out our claim, despite the fact that we held what we believed to be top cover. Their lack of transparency and failure to pay out our claim in a timely manner is not only disheartening but also raises serious questions about their integrity as an insurance provider. It is clear that their commitment to their customers’ well-being is nothing more than a façade. We have since been asked to fill out form after form and answer not applicable questions. Unhelpful Customer Service:When we finally managed to reach their customer service department, we were met with unhelpful and dismissive attitudes. Instead of addressing our concerns and providing the assistance we desperately needed, they seem more interested in deflecting blame and avoiding responsibility and have since stopped replaying to emails and despite numerous requests have not returned out calls. This complete disregard for customer satisfaction is utterly unacceptable and reflects a lack of professionalism on their part. Conclusion:My experience with Green Tick Travel Insurance has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their failure to fulfill their promises, refusal to pay our claim, and unhelpful customer service have left me with a bitter taste in my mouth. I strongly advise potential customers to steer clear of this company and explore other options for their travel insurance needs. Green Tick Travel Insurance has proven itself to be unreliable, unworthy of our hard-earned money and untrustworthy to take care of travel insurance needs.

Please Note - If you are cruising around Australia you need to select Pacific. With Regions, variances can apply for Bali, Indonesia, Japan and Middle East. You are not required to enter stop-over countries if your stop-over is less than 48 hours.

If you don’t know where you’re traveling to within the next 12 months, choose Worldwide to ensure you’re covered no matter where you go. If you’re travelling to multiple countries choose the region that you are visiting that is furthest away (excluding stopovers less than 48 hours). In most cases you will be covered for the closer regions as well. For example, if you choose Europe, you will also be covered in the Middle East, Asia and Pacific.

Worldwide means anywhere in the world

Americas means USA, Canada, South America, Latin America, Hawaii and the Caribbean

Europe means all European countries, including UK

Middle East refers to the area from Syria to Yemen; Egypt to Iran

Asia generally means Asia and the Indian subcontinent. For some insurers this excludes Japan*

Pacific means the South West Pacific, Australia and Indonesia/Bali*. Select Pacific for domestic cruises in New Zealand waters

New Zealand means domestic travel within New Zealand only

*Note: Variances apply for Bali, Indonesia, Japan and Middle East. Check that your destination is covered once directed to your chosen insurer’s site.

We used this company recently and had to use their services ( never had to in the past) the process took so long, there was never any understanding to any of what we had informed them and wanted a receipt for every item missing. This is not usually possible as some items were gifts, one item we had purchased from duty free on the flight over and the receipt was in the bag. Absolute waste of time and money, be warned they're not in it to help at all but for themselves. NEVER again.

I had to postpone my travel back to Australia due to getting sick in the US. Once I got in touch with Tick and telling them about my changed travel plans, they were kind enough to extend my cover by a week and told me to get a medical certificate that proves my condition. After getting back to Australia, I lodged a claim to recover some of the extra hotel/flights costs that I had to pay for myself, whilst being sick overseas. To my surprise, I almost got a full refund minus the excess obviously ($200). The claiming process took a bit long as it's all paper based and sort of manual via emails, but overall, I am very happy with Tick and I will arrange a cover with them next time again.

Shocking service

Shocking service. Paid for the policy on the 6th April. No documents sent. Multiple emails....two phone calls totalling over one and a half hours and still no policy. Told that I would have it within 24hrs. Still waiting. Called up to cancel. The attitude of the person on the phone should be looked at. Do not use this company! Do not waste your time or money. Now I have been told that the company will manually refund me within 7 days, but it will take up to five days after that. Asked for email confirmation, and told that a request has been sent. I have been waiting a week since the last request was sent. Do not use. Do not use. Do not use.

Terrible, avoid at all costs!

I took out my travel insurance for a trip from Perth to Brisbane in early January 2024. Following cancellation of my return flight from Brisbane to Perth by the airline, I contacted Tick insurance for approval to purchase a replacement ticket which was granted. On returning home, I lodged a claim and Tick have been terrible with late responses and finding excuses to not provide an outcome to my claim for the last four weeks. It is now in the fourth week and still no final decision from Tick regarding the claim and promises to return calls and provide feedback are not met at all. If there was a zero rating, I'd have given that!

Beware, claim process and condtions =worthless

Never Again, Policy effectively Worthless. Bought policy and have used them some 7 times but never made a claim. Unfortunately, my trip was cancelled due to lack of numbers and consequently made a claim for my airfares and hotel accomodation. My travel provider gave me my deposit back and Singapore airlines refunded all taxes and admin .charges. I made a claim on the policy and provided all the necessary documentation. Told it would take 2/5 days. Then the fun started and I spelt a rat, no response, so I stared to chase things up ,but was fed information was going to assessor, then later management . I kept querying and no immediate answer. After feeling frustrated I sent off another polite and accomodating email asking ( 14 March 24) for a time line or asking if my documentation was sufficient or lacking. This afternoon , 15 March 2024, I received an email with an attachment dated "26th February 2024' rejecting my claim under certain provisions of the PDS. Simply you need to be either dead, accident, family death....... before any payment. It does provide for cancellation even though the Web sign up provides the appearance of cover. The lack of professionalism and business practice with regards to timing , what was the hold up, I made many enquires but you left me like a cat sitting on a hot tin roof. Never again with Tick Travel Insurance and as we all know with car and household insurance the fighting one has to do is endless to make a claim. After many months/years many unfortunates never have a satisfactory resolution. I have learnt my lesson but I hope my experience will educate others of Tick Travel Insurance.

Warning ⚠️ this company will accept your…

Warning ⚠️ this company will accept your money and then not accept liability. 5 weeks so far for our claim to be rejected 3 times. It cost us thousands of dollars to get back to Australia from Bali after I collapsed from double pneumonia and now we are in financial trouble. They process the claim overseas (apparently) and now say I don't qualify!!! Or don't have enough documentation to prove my claim...or..get this.. purchased it overseas ...can't find our policy etc, etc.

Waste of money

Avoid this insurance - genuine claim made for cancelled flight, claim denied for car hire expenses that were necessary to get home. Read the PDS - you will find it doesn't cover most unplanned events. Waste of time, waste of money, Will never purchase again.

Date of experience : 07 July 2023

Very poor and slow communication. They denied my claim on a technicality which was valid strictly reading the PDS. but it meant that the insurance was effectively worthless. Our flights were delayed >12 hours and we needed to get home for work. After calling the Tick helpline and them confirming I should be able to “make a claim” (note the weasel words), I rebooked onto more expensive flights to get us home on time. Claim denied. Avoid Tick.

Terrible! Don’t go there.

Terrible. Bought insurance. Can’t get into my account to review documents. They won’t respond to my emails. Sent a complaint in- no response. Don’t go there people!

Why bother having insurance?

Tick refused to cover cancelled transport tickets on the basis that I was stuck in Norway but our government had declared it a No Travel zone! Errr..hello?! I was travelling when the pandemic struck, that's what travel insurance is supposed to be for. Their letter said (and yes, the poor grammar is repeated in their very confusing policy wording too, which makes no mention of pandemics...): "Your original trip was through a country or area included on the list of countries not recommended by the Australian Government through the smart traveller website on 18 March, your claim falls under the general exclusion applicable to all sections of the policy. Therefore, we unfortunately cannot cover your prepaid expenses."

Beware of the Tick scam!!!!

I found this travel policy which I purchased with Tick to be a total waste of money. My luggage was recently lost by the airline whilst travelling. I had originally purchased the most premium of Tick's insurance policies, however when I contacted their claims department, the only items that they told me that they are prepared to reimburse me for is for essential clothes and toiletries. The stipulation was that all non-English receipts need to be officially translated. The thing is that I can buy some basic clothing for less than $100 Euros but will spend 3 times as much in getting all invoices translated. So basically it will cost me more money to lodge a claim. I will also not be reimbursed for the laptop which I kept in my suitcase. I am therefore cutting my losses and will cut short my trip and return early as it's simply going to be too expensive to both holiday and replace my lost items. By the way, Tick will not cover the cost associated with my change of ticket request. Despite having top cover and being insured for delayed baggage, personal belongings, and cutting my trip short, Tick have simply broken all the rules and not interested in looking at looking at my claim. I will not use Tick again and I don't recommend them. Please avoid at all costs. The Tick brand has no value and seems to be a complete scam

Avoid at all cost! REVIEWS ARE FAKE!!!

Avoid at all cost, online claim form did not work. Manual application through emails back and fourth for 1-2 months over 100 emails. No response, they try not to pay you out or help you. Multiple claims officer working on your claim, confusing and purposely mixing it up. About 5 people replying to your email with no clue, trying to confuse you so you can back out. Asking for extra extra documents when you're already back in your country. While it was happening i've asked them to send me a list of documentations i need to fill out or have to process this claim. I've submitted everything on the list and they're still avoiding me!!! I am still fighting my case, will not rest until my claim has been processed. DODGY!!! Dad was in hospital, they hung up on me didn't return my calls, didn't help or even show their concern. Please avoid!! It's all fake reviews. This is a real review, please stick to the 3 big names !!! I made a mistake and i regret it so much.

Two family members died but insurer still refused to reimburse additional expenses

We bought the most comprehensive (and expensive) single trip top cover travel insurance from Europ Assistance Australia (trading as Tick Travel Insurance) for our June/July 2023 trip to Budapest, Hungary and the Azores, Portugal. When one family member suddenly died in June we cancelled our non-refundable Brussels Airlines flight to the Azores and made a claim for curtailment (cutting short your trip) and additional emergency expenses. However, the insurer refused to reimburse $1254.99 in lost airfares. A second family member suddenly died in July, forcing us to cancel and postpone our non-refundable Finnair return flight to Brisbane, Queensland. We once again claimed for curtailment (cutting short your trip) and additional emergency expenses. However, the insurer once again declined to reimburse our $3149 in unused flights. As it stands we lost $4403.99 due to unexpected deaths in our family. However, neither Europ Assistance Australia nor its head office in Paris, France reimbursed us. This happened despite their product disclosure statement (PDS) promising to pay accommodation, meal, phone and travel expenses above what we originally budgeted for if a relative dies in Australia at the time of trip interruption. In this case we should have been reimbursed $4897.81 in extra Lufthansa flight expenses between Budapest and Lisbon as well as $1920 in additional Finnair airfare rebooking fees. Europ Assistance still owes us $6817.81. We raised the matter to internal dispute resolution but the insurer refused to settle. We then escalated the complaint to the Australia head of insurance, and entire executive committee, but they all declined our claim. We finally brought the matter to the Europ Assistance head office in Paris, France but neither the Asia CEO nor entire media relations team ever responded. Throughout the whole claims process we were repeatedly provided with the wrong claim forms, incorrect/misleading information and even ignored. This was definitely not what we expected after paying top-dollar for the best possible travel insurance money can buy with all of the bells and whistles included. The level of service Europ Assistance delivered was extremely disappointing in our tragic circumstances. We are shocked to learn the Australia head of insurance still has his job. We are also surprised that the Paris head office never launched a formal investigation into the handling of our claim numbers M058682.15 and M059027.49 and M061360.39 and M058989.58. We would like a written apology from Europ Assistance and to receive the $6817.81 it still owes us according to the insurer's own PDS.

  1. Tick vs World2Cover Travel Insurance : r/australia

Tick vs World2Cover Travel Insurance. no politics. Trying to find the cheapest travel insurance for my family and I (4 adults no dependants). We will be in Singapore for a few days then Bali for 2 weeks. I only really care for Medical expenses, though cover for Delays/Cancellations/Baggage would be a good bonus if it's still cheap!
