All prices are in US dollars.

*Bushpig, Civet Cat, and Genet Cat are all hunted at night over bait and/or with a spotlight. Civet Cat and Genet Cat also require a special hunting permit. For these reasons, hunters wishing to pursue any of those species must give us advance notice so we can prepare appropriately and obtain the necessary hunting permits.

Our primary hunting areas have some fantastic bird hunting opportunities and you’re welcome to add a day or two of wing shooting onto a plains game and/or buffalo hunt. In particular, our main camp has healthy populations of pigeon, dove, and guinea fowl year round. Other species are migratory.

Depending on the exact time of year and exact bird species we’re hunting, this can range from sitting on the edge of a field pass shooting doves and pigeons as they come and go (in flocks of dozens and hundreds) to some sort of beaten hunt for other birds using people and/or dogs. There’s good bird hunting all year round, but there are definitely seasonal peaks. The months of May, June, July, and August tend to have really good hunting for a variety of bird species. Want to relive your once in a lifetime hunt and/or share the experience with friends/family when you return home? If so, then you’ll definitely want to book the services of our videographer. He’ll go out hunting with you each day, film the events of your trip, and then build a video of the entirety of your hunt. He’ll do all the editing in camp and will provide a USB flash drive with the completed video on your departure day for you to take home with you.

Videos are normally 40-60 minutes long and tell the story of your full experience: the hunt itself, camp life, especially interesting encounters with wildlife, etc. You’re also welcome to make special requests of him while you’re there. Cape Buffalo are the most sought after member of the Big Five and this is a real deal Cape Buffalo hunt for wild buffalo on foot and in thick bushveld conditions.

We have a 100% success rate over the past four years and our lifetime success rate on Cape Buffalo hunting safaris is over 90%. We only hunt hard bossed bulls, not immature bulls who have not had an opportunity to breed.

• No hidden costs: our South Africa hunting packages include everything except for your air fare, taxidermy, and shipment of your trophies.
• We are not a high turnover outfit. Instead, we focus on providing quality hunts with the best possible experience for each guest. For that reason, we only book one hunt at a time. Instead of sharing the area with people that you don’t know, you’ll have the whole place to yourself. • We’ll pick you up at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Unlike a hunt in Namibia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, or the Eastern Cape of South Africa, no follow on airline flights or plane charters are necessary if you book a hunting safari with us.
• If you want to bring your own rifle, we’ll get a temporary import permit for you and help you with all the paperwork involved at no extra charge. So, there is no need to go through the hassle of importing your rifle on your own or pay an additional $200-300 to another company for their help with this.
• We book a limited number of hunts each year, abide by strict quotas, and carefully manage our hunting areas. This ensures that our hunters have high success rates and take the best quality trophies possible (over 90% of our trophies make the Safari Club International or Rowland Ward record book).
• Our Professional Hunters (PHs) are friendly, knowledgeable, and have many years worth of experience guiding North American, European, and Asian hunters on plains game and dangerous game hunting safaris.

Our South Africa hunting prices are valid for hunts booked in 2024 and 2025. Though every effort will be made to follow up and recover wounded animals, all animals wounded and not recovered will be charged the full trophy fee.

For hunters that do not wish to bring their own rifles, we have scoped rifles chambered in .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield, .338 Winchester Magnum, .375 H&H and .375 Ruger available for our clients. We provide use of the rifle and ammunition suitable for hunting plains game or Cape Buffalo as appropriate at no extra charge.

Custom South African hunting safari prices

Custom hunting safaris are when you decide to hunt specific animals that are not in any of our African plains game- or African dangerous game hunting packages. This means you decide which animals you would like to hunt at you pace. If you decide to do a custom South African hunting safari with a hunting buddy or a companion in the form of a spouse or girlfriend, the following tariffs will apply:

1 X 1 hunting safari prices

1. If you want to hunt with your own dedicated Professional Hunter (PH) your daily rate will be $ 425 per day all-inclusive. 2. Your non-hunting companion that accompanies you pay an additional daily rate of $ 200 per day all-inclusive. Upside of a 1 X 1 custom hunting safari – You have the full attention of your PH for the duration of the hunt. Downside of a 1 X 1 custom hunt – It is more expensive than a 2 X 1 custom hunting safari

2 X 1 hunting safari prices

1. If you wish to share the daily rate with another full hunting companion your daily rate per hunter will be $ 350 per day all-inclusive. Two hunters share the services of one PH. 2. Non-hunting companions will be $ 170 per day all-inclusive. Upside of a 2 X 1 custom hunting safari – Shared daily rates makes it cheaper per person. Downside of a 2 X 1 custom hunt – If your hunting partner wounds animals you lose personal hunting time.

Our primary objectives at Cruiser Safaris are to offer excellent mature South Africa animal hunting as well as first class accommodations and services, all at reasonable safari hunting prices. With those goals in mind we aim year after year to keep our hunting prices as low as possible and still tailor each hunt to suit our hunting client’s desires and hunting abilities.

Our NO HIDDEN FEES policy makes Cruiser Safaris hunting prices some of the lowest in all of South Africa.

Cruiser Safaris offers seven South Africa safari hunting packages including hunts for Nyala, Sable and bow hunters plus a Free State Add-On package. Each Package Hunt offers a different amount of hunting days and trophy hunting species at discounted Trophy Fee prices.

We know you will find our Daily Rates prices to be among the most reasonable in the industry and, as a bonus to our safari hunting clients we do not charge daily rates for your day of arrival or day of departure like a lot of other South Africa hunting outfitters do.

Cruiser Safaris realizes that your flight to South Africa is a long one, and by the time you reach our camp you are probably exhausted and would like to relax for a while by our pool or simply take in the atmosphere and settle in. Your day of departure can also be hectic with packing and the drive back to Johannesburg. You can begin your hunting safari relaxed and depart refreshed.

We know some of you will see some of the game animals on the drive to our camp and want to begin hunting immediately on arrival. For those who wish to hunt the day of their arrival or departure we will only charge one half of our daily rate price.

Cruiser Safaris South Africa plains game hunting Trophy Fees are applicable only to animals actually bagged or wounded and lost. Our Trophy Fees pricing page lists the hunting cost of all available game species including animals of opportunity that are not booked in advance but may be hunted if encountered during your hunting safari.

Our daily rates and trophy fees for the 2024 & 2025 hunting seasons in South Africa. All prices are quoted in United States Dollar. Prices include all applicable local taxes and permit fees.

Daily rates

* Pre- and post-safari nights: If your flight arrives after 1pm, or if you need to spend a night after the safari before departing for home. These nights will be spent at the five star Castello di Monte Guest House, or at a similar property on occasions when they are fully booked. The $200 includes a pickup or drop-off at the airport by one of our staff as well as all meals and drinks (within reason) enjoyed at the guest house.

SOUTH AFRICAN BUFFALO HUNT

7 days buffalo hunting. This will be on one of our exclusive 65 sq. mile private reserves in the Free State province of South Africa, or in the Mpumalanga Province, near Kruger National Park, depending on availability.   These buffalo will be hunted on large areas in a fair chase manner.  Bulls will be over 40”, and we have been consistently averaging 40-43”.

Mozambique hunts

10 day Buffalo Safari $ 15 500

We offer a 10 day Buffalo safari in southern Mozambique from our Nyari camp,  meaning Buffalo camp. This area is a communal area adjacent to the world-famous Kruger National Park.

There are large amounts of buffalo in the area that come through from Kruger during the wet season into the hunting area, where there is standing water. On 90% of our hunts you will be on fresh Buffalo tracks daily.

Hunt will start in South Africa at Johannesburg International where we will drive you to the Pafuri gate in Kruger National Park.

On entering Mozambique we will get your Visa. The camp is situated through the Limpopo river on the banks of the Nuanetsi.

This is a true wilderness camp where there is no electricity or Wi-Fi. Very comfortable tented camps exist with battery operated / solar lights and a generator to keep the beers cold. This is a true wild African hunting experience.

7 day Hippo and Croc Hunt $17 000

We have some fantastic river systems to hunt on our areas in Mozambique. From Southern Mozambique to central and northern areas, and have crocodiles available on the world-famous Cahora Bassa Dam. Hippo also have finally got CITES export permits.

This exciting hunt will show you how sly the great crocodile is to hunt.  Hunting will take place on foot or by boat on the larger of the systems.  Very unique Safari style and exciting hunt to experience shooting some monster crocs of up to 15- 16 feet

14 day Leopard Hunt -  $34 000

With leopards becoming more and more difficult to hunt due to anti-hunting pressure and permit restrictions, now is the time to book that leopard hunt!

We have permits to hunt leopards in northern Mozambique as well as in central Mozambique, bordering Gorongosa National Park.  Price includes 14 days of hunting as well as Leopard’s tag fee. Includes rifle import, hunting permits and visa etc. The only extra costs will be bait animals or pre baiting

INCLUDES –

• 1 rifle import permit, 1 hunters licence for 1 concession. 
• Includes road transfer, pick up and drop off. 

EXCLUDES - 

• Niassa concession community conservation fee $100 per person per day, if hunting in the Niassa reserve.

The best months for a safari in South Africa are from May to September. This period, which is the dry season, offers abundant wildlife sightings as animals congregate around water sources and become easier to locate.

A Cape Buffalo costs $ 9 100.

If two hunters will be sharing a Professional hunter the cost will be $ 13 350 including 7 days.

Founded in 1974, Greater Kuduland Safaris is a family-run hunting operation in South Africa that has become world-renowned for delivering quality big game and plains game hunting safaris. The owner, Howard Knott, has over forty years of professional hunting experience and leads most of the safaris on his fifty-five thousand-acre private game reserve situated near Tshipise in the Great Limpopo Valley, a region known to be one of the finest hunting grounds on the continent.

Greater Kuduland Safaris offers rifle and bow hunting safaris to hunters at all experience levels. Over thirty different game species are available to hunt on the Reserve, including the infamous Cape Buffalo. We limit the number of hunters to only forty per season, which runs between April and August each year. This, together with Howard’s commitment to conservation and ethical hunting practices, herds can reach their full maturity and produce quality trophies each year.

Greater Kuduland Safaris caters to small hunting groups and single hunters with families to ensure an exclusive and secluded hunting experience.

Due to the limited hunting period and many repeat clientele, we advise our clients to book their hunting safari well in advance.

Howard is an avid conservationist and funds the conservation initiatives on the Reserve through hunting. Some of these include protecting endangered species such as the black and white rhino, elephant, roan antelope, and African pangolin, amongst hundreds of other species.

We will assist with all the logistics of your safari including; customs documentation, license permits, airport transfers, and arrangement of taxidermy and exportation of trophies.

Definition of cull animal.

This is a non-trophy hunt. Animals which are not of trophy quality or have no trophy potential. Also when there is an excess of a specific species and the number need to be reduced. These are male and female animals.

Definition of Trophy Animal

These are male animals which represent the Species. The trophy quality is mainly determined by conditions, i.e. Droughts, high Rainfall. These animals do not specifically make the Rowland Ward Book for trophies but none the less represents the specific species.

All the above mentioned rates include:

• Accommodation , meals, refreshments and laundry.
• Field preparation of trophies and hunting licenses.
• All land transportation, vehicles and fuel (hunting vehicles).

All the above rates DO NOT include:

• Taxidermy fees.

For most hunting here hunters need to be fit and able to walk 3 - 6 miles per day, some of terrain is flat but also in rough rocky terrain.

SHOOTING : Hunters must be able to shoot well from sitting off bipods out to 250 yds. Most shots are from the sitting position.

On our Cull / non trophy packages: Due to factors beyond our control like drought effects, ONLY sometimes species need to be changed to suit our management program, then you will still get similar numbers and value in game to hunt - eg. if we have too few Ostrich to cull then a similar value species which we have way too many of, will be hunted instead of Ostrich as an example - your understanding is appreciated.

Hunters must ensure they are on the same flight into and out of Port Elizabeth ( PE ) because our packages are priced for PE pick up and return in one trip, in one truck, round trip and which is included in all of our packages. 2 Vehicles for PE transfer if group is more than 4 people.

We do not do Port Elizabeth ( PE ) transfers in the dark due to game on the road eg. Kudu and some narrow roads, so please ensure arrival in PE is between 12 noon and 2 pm for our pick up. Hunters on Kudu hunts must preferably be in PE at 8 am for RHS pick up. We get you back to PE at about 11 am on your last day.

We have a 99 % success rate on our hunters getting their package game.

Other game, trophy or non trophy, which are not in our packages may be hunted per price list. This is subject to availability at the time of your hunt.

Any animal shot and not exported out of South Africa then 15 % VAT tax will be charged onto such animals Trophy or non trophy fees.

I went on a 2-week safari in South Africa's famous Kruger National Park for just $50 a day

• I went on an epic two-week safari in South Africa's famous Kruger National Park for about $50 a day.
• I camped beneath the stars and saw elephants right from my tent.
• Driving our own car, camping, and preparing our own food saved us money. 

The idea of a South African safari often conjures up images of five-star lodges and luxury game drives — but a holiday in the bush doesn't have to be out of reach for travelers on a tighter budget.

According to a data analysis from Go2Africa , the average traveler heads on South African safaris with a medium-high budget, meaning they spend $5,500 to $6,000 on a trip, an increase from last year.

But, on a recent trip, I found that I was able to have an incredible two-week safari trip in Kruger National Park for about $50 a day.

Here's how I did it and how travelers can save money when planning their safari.

I saved by buying an annual pass

The biggest savings at Kruger National Park can come from buying a Wild Card, an annual pass that gives you a year of access to 80+ parks in southern Africa, including Kruger.

The Wild Card is discounted for South Africans but it cost me 3,780 rands, or about $200, as a foreigner.

Without a Wild Card, I would've had to pay over 486 rands a day to visit Kruger, meaning this pass pays for itself in just over a week.

Overall, my pass came to about 270 rands a day for the two-week trip.

We also stayed in one of Kruger's many rest camps

One of the most immersive ways to experience Kruger is by camping in the South African bush. We saw elephants near our camp and woke up to the sounds of warthogs and hyenas in the distance.

We live in South Africa , so it was easy enough to bring our own camping gear, though travelers can rent a tent, sleeping bags, chairs, and cooking basics from nearby rental companies for a few thousand rands for two weeks.

Kruger National Park has a range of rest camps for different budgets and preferences, whether you prefer to use your own tent or stay in a bungalow with your own kitchen and bathroom.

Prices also vary depending on the season, so it's wise to avoid really busy months, like September and December. I found that around mid-January to mid-March, two people can camp at Punda Maria, one of Kruger's cheapest camping options, for just 285 rands a night. During high season, prices go up by about 100 rands per night.

My husband and I visited during a less busy season. We camped at Maroela Satellite Camp and Crocodile Bridge Rest Camp for 331 to 349 rands a night.

Cooking our own food saved us money …

We chose to prepare our own meals and braai (a type of South African barbecue) beneath the stars.

Fortunately, most campsites have plug points, braai stands, shared bathrooms, shared kitchens, and shops selling everything you need to braai.

The park also has restaurants and coffee shops scattered throughout it, which is helpful for anyone who wants to purchase food and drinks without leaving the property.

But there's nothing quite like braaiing beneath the stars, watching for the occasional hyena along the fence line.

… and so did doing a self-driving safari

If you don't have your own car, you can rent a sedan for just over 4,000 rands for two weeks. Fortunately, though, there are enough tarred roads in Kruger that you don't need a special 4x4 to enjoy the park.

We ended up self-driving our own car in Kruger National Park, which allowed us to choose our own adventure and be our own guide.

Rest camps have sighting boards on which visitors pin their major animal sightings from that day and the previous day. This makes it easy to follow trends and choose where to search first. There's also an app where visitors post their sightings.

On our last self-drive safari in Kruger, we saw cheetahs and all the Big Five (leopard, elephant, rhino, lion, and African buffalo).

Overall, our trip was affordable and dreamy

We saved money throughout our trip and managed to go on a two-week safari in Kruger National Park for just under $50 a day per person.

This price includes two Wild Cards, petrol for our vehicle, and our camping fees and expenses — and our trip was well worth it.
