New Found Glory announces acoustic tour

Make The Most Of It Acoustic Tour kicks off in Jan

New Found Glory will embark on the Make The Most Of It Acoustic Tour in 2023. The tour kicks off in January in St. Louis, and makes stops across the country at unique, primarily seated venues before concluding in March in Miami Beach, FL. Leanna Firestone will support all dates.

VIP pre-sale tickets are on sale now with the general on sale set for Friday, November 18th at noon ET/9 am PT via Ticketmaster .

Last week, the pop punk band announced their new acoustic album, Make The Most Of It , out January 20th via Revelation Records. The album features seven new tracks written in the wake of guitarist Chad Gilbert’s cancer diagnosis – including new single and music video “Dream Born Again,” which is available now – alongside seven live acoustic versions of fan favorites that were recorded in Nashville in 2022 during the band’s NFG Unplugged Total Request Livestream & Concert.

The live session tones down the caustic energy of a New Found Glory show but strips the band down to their bare essentials: Pundik’s unmistakable vocal and wholly resonant songwriting. When the band lead the audience through a sing-along on their very first single, “Hit Or Miss,” it’s hard not to get choked up at how important New Found Glory still is to fans 25 years in.

Last week, New Found Glory announced their new acoustic album, Make The Most Of It, out January 20 via Revelation Records. The album features seven brand new tracks written in the wake of guitarist Chad Gilbert's cancer diagnosis - including new single and music video "Dream Born Again," which is out now - alongside seven live acoustic versions of fan favorites. Make The Most Of It is a rumination on what it means to grieve, to live, to approach every day with appreciation and a sense of fulfillment.

In December 2021, fresh off the celebratory Pop Punk's Still Not Dead Tour in support of their 10th album, Forever + Ever x Infinity, Gilbert was found unresponsive in bed at home, rushed to a local hospital, and diagnosed with an 8-inch cancerous tumor, a rare pheochromocytoma. Hospital stays, surgery, and a long road to recovery followed - but, in typical New Found Glory fashion, so did the songs.

"I didn't want this to be the 'cancer record' originally," Gilbert admits. "But when we went on tour and people started hearing the story and connecting to it, I gave up on trying to control the narrative. Not all bands are dealt these cards, but we were. Let's take these songs and help the disease get awareness and raise money for a cause that's working on education and research for my rare cancer."

A percentage of proceeds from Make The Most Of It will go to The Pheo Para Alliance, the longest standing internationally recognized leader in advocacy for, and awareness of, pheochromocytoma.

"Even though the songs are sadder, they're still hopeful," Gilbert says. "You hear so much online about mental health and fear and anxiety. I feel proud that we can release an album with joy and honesty in a way that will hopefully make people less fearful of life. A lot of times we punish ourselves for things that might never happen. I'm going through something that did happen, but doing it with hope and joy and a greater appreciation."

As New Found Glory can attest, life moves quickly. Just three years after forming in Coral Springs, Florida, in 1997, the group were fast-tracked from local upstarts to mainstream stars on the back of ebullient pop melodies and hardcore-tinged breakdowns, setting off a blast of pop-punk dynamite that still lights the torch for modern acts more than two decades later.

They became the voice of an underground movement, spurring iconic gold and platinum records (2000's New Found Glory, 2002's Sticks & Stones, and 2004's Catalyst), countless MTV appearances, an entire subgenre (easycore) and sold-out tours the world over

The band's forthcoming acoustic album, Make The Most Of It (Revelation Records), tackles the last year head-on with their most emotional and cathartic collection of songs to date.

In many ways, it's remarkable it took New Found Glory 25 years to release an acoustic album. Masters of stop-gap invention - from the ever-popular From The Screen To Your Stereo movie theme cover EPs to their hardcore alter egos International Superheroes Of Hardcore - the band have balanced the impulses of new and nostalgic better than nearly every one of their peers.

That continues on Make The Most Of It, which also features live versions of seven New Found Glory classics recorded in Nashville in 2022 during the band's NFG Unplugged Total Request Livestream & Concert.

The live session tones down the caustic energy of a New Found Glory show but strips the band down to their bare essentials: Pundik's unmistakable vocal and wholly resonant songwriting. When the band lead the audience through a sing-along on their very first single, "Hit Or Miss," it's hard not to get choked up at how important New Found Glory still is to fans 25 years in.

New Found Glory is Jordan Pundik (lead vocals), Chad Gilbert (guitar), Ian Grushka (bass guitar) and Cyrus Bolooki (drums).

New Found Glory's Jordan Pundik Talks New Acoustic Album and Tour, Reveals Guitarist Chad Gilbert's Cancer Diagnosis Motivated Him to 'Take Care of Myself' (Exclusive)

By Stephen Andrew - January 24, 2023 05:03 pm EST

When the pop-punk and emo scene exploded in the early 2000s, there were a handful of bands who had been there, toe-to-toe with fans in their community, that have earned the right to be considered purveyors, or godparents, of the scene. New Found Glory is one of those bands. Formed in the late '90s, the band released their first album, Nothing Gold Can Stay , in 1999, and they have since gone on to release nine more full-length studio albums. That's not even mentioning their collection of cover songs albums, live recordings, EPs, compilation projects, and a holiday album that dropped in 2021.

Now, New Found Glory has released their first fully acoustic album, Make the Most of It , which features seven original songs and a handful of live versions of the band's most popular tracks. What makes the project stand out from the band's past entries is that its release follows founding guitarist Chad Gilbert's two-year battle with a rare form of cancer : Pheochromocytoma. The musician was hospitalized in both 2021 and 2022 due to the illness, which required multiple surgeries. What emerged from the uncertain and frightening period of life is a collection of deeply personal songs that bring profound catharsis for those of us aging millennials who are forced to face mortality in ways songs about rock shows didn't address 20 years who.

In support of the new album, New Found Glory frontman Jordan Pundik sat down for a conversation with PopCulture.com and offered some insight into the new project, their upcoming tour, and his personal mindset while singing songs that were so intimate to Gilbert. When asked if the band had already wanted to do an acoustic album or if it was something that evolved out of the songwriting during their bandmate's health journey, Pundik replied, "Well, I would probably say it's a little bit of both. For many years, I mean, we've always done acoustic stuff here and there at some shows and YouTube videos and things, but never full-on acoustic record."

"From fans, we've been getting messages every time we put out an acoustic song, like an original redone," he continued, "every time we put it on YouTube or something, we'll get hundreds and hundreds of comments. 'Acoustic record, acoustic record. We want an acoustic record.' It was our fans that actually planted the seed in our ear, in our brains. And so through that and then doing these live streams during COVID acoustic and doing the songs for YouTube and things and hearing the comments from fans, it just happened with that naturally."

Pundik went on to share, "Of course when all this stuff was happening with Chad and his diagnosis and everything, it was just more fuel to really put something out that could be special and meaningful. Not only for us, but for our fans too. I mean, I'm sure there's so many people that have gone through a similar situation or, even if it has nothing to do with cancer at all, anything. Anything could be applicable to what the songs are about, except there's obviously a couple that are very blatant cancer journey songs. But people can definitely relate to it. And we're already getting messages from the songs we put out about how people are relating and how they love it. So, it's really cool."

Understandably, Pundik admits that walking alongside Gilbert as he faced unpredictable health issues , has changed the singer's own outlook. "Since this has been going on with one of my closest friends, any little weird thing that I feel in my body I'm like, 'Oh man, should I go check this out?' It's on my mind more," he confessed. "I'm not thinking about me. It's not about me. It's about the people around me and making sure that I take care of myself and making sure if I feel something weird, I go take care of it, that kind of thing. I don't know."

The new original songs on Make the Most of It are so evocative that just reading what someone writes about them isn't going to do them any sense of justice. They must be heard. We do highly recommend "Watch the Lillies Grow," which is written to Gilbert's young daughter who was born in July 2021. The song is from the very literal perspective of a father faced with the possibility that he may never get to see his child grow up from here on Earth, but comforts her that he would "still smile in heaven" as he lovingly kept watch over her.

"At first I was like, 'OK, this is a little too close," Pundik said of singing the words that Gilbert wrote. "I mean, we've always written songs together since the beginning of time and it's always taking things that we've gone through as a whole. Ian going through his s— in his life, me going through my stuff. And we've always written together, but when this song lyrically was presented to me, I was like, 'Man, is this a little too personal for me to be singing it?'"

He eventually found motivation in his friendship with Gilbert, saying, "And as I got in there, I said to myself, I'm like, 'You know what? This is an important song for him and I think this could be an important song for a lot of people.' I went there with that mindset and I thought about my own children and what I would be going through in that situation. And I think that's what really helped me get the emotion out and actually make a great song."

Not one to spend too much time singing the sorrow, Pundik took a moment and praised his bandmate for being such a "positive person," noting that it's rubbed off on every member of the group. "He always has a positive outlook on things and I think that positivity spreads, you know? And so with him being positive... We talk through everything." The singer then joked, "I mean, I think other bands would be annoyed at us because we like to talk and dissect everything with everything. So, we talk to other bands about stuff and there's always younger bands that are on tour with us and we get to hanging out and having conversations and stuff. And they're usually a lot younger and they ask a simple question and it always turns into a four-hour discussion. And you just see them just zoning out."

Pundik also revealed how Gilbert becoming a father , and not just his cancer diagnosis, had an impact on New Found Glory, specifically when it comes to touring. "Even before the diagnosis, I mean, we were already at the point in our career where we're like, 'You know what? We don't need to be on tour for two, three months back to back. Why do we do this still to ourselves? We can do the same thing and just spread it out.' So, now we do two weeks. Because everybody has kids.

"Chad had his first kid," he continued, going on to share, "And before, back in the day when we were having kids earlier on, he didn't have anybody, any kids. And he was still like, 'We gotta tour, tour, tour, tour, tour.' And I'm like, 'Dude, you got to understand. This is hard.' And he never understood. And then as soon as he had his first kid, he's like, 'You know what, guys? I was wrong. I don't know how you guys do it.'"

Pundik pointed to the new tour New Found Glory is setting off on this month as an example of how they've altered their original touring structure. "So, now it's like we tour, well, for example, this acoustic tour, it's basically what would be a month-long tour. But instead, it's two weeks. Then I come home for about a month and then I do another two weeks."

"That has seemed to have really been helpful," he added, "not only for our families and our personal lives and missing out on less stuff, but also mentally too. I think it's very helpful that we're like, 'Okay. All right. We're just going to be gone for two weeks. Then we can go home and reset and then be ready to go for the next two weeks.'"

Finally, Pundik rightfully noted that he feels New Found Glory has a "precedence with our fans" and that they are sincere and "approachable" guys. "We're just normal people. 'Band guys' annoy the f— out of us. So, we never wanted to be like that. It's great people know us and the band does well and we're successful in that, but I've always tried to just keep a," he trailed off before concluding, "I think all of us, collectively, just always realized we wouldn't be where we are if it wasn't for the people coming to see us."

Tattooed New Found Glory frontman Jordan Pudnik sings into a microphone.

Some things never change.

As of 2022, Hot Topic is still hawking Blink 182 merch at malls all over the country, and in 2023, punk rock veterans New Found Glory will hit the road for their nationwide “Make The Most Of It Tour.”

Well, let us clarify. Some things change.

Rather than bust out their distinctive brand of high-octane, early-aughts, pop-punk, New Found Glory will mix things up and play acoustic sets at all shows to promote their upcoming “Make The Most Of It” album, which includes performances at Red Bank’s Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre on March 17 and New York City’s Town Hall on March 18.

However, don’t think of this run of gigs as your typical stripped-down acoustic tour.

“Usually acoustic makes a tour seem less, but for us, this is more,” the band shared on Instagram . “The kind of show we are putting together, the set and songs we will be playing, and most of these venues are theaters that we’ve never played before.”

And that might be a good thing for fans of the quartet’s quieter work.

New Found Glory has confirmed that they will play many songs that often are requested from the back of regular venues but “don’t fit in with the rowdy sets.”

It really sounds like they’re entering an era of, ahem, New Found Glory.

Sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves.

Now, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of the “Make The Most Of It Tour.”

New Found Glory 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar featuring all upcoming concert dates, venues and links to the lowest prices on tickets available at the time of publication can be found below.

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure, and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

New Found Glory’s new album

The “Make The Most Of It” album, comprised of 14 songs, will see the group ease out of their comfort zone.

Seven of the 14 tracks will be re-imaginings of classic New Found Glory hits, and the other seven will be completely new cuts.

While no new music has yet to drop, Jordan Pudnik, Ian Grushka, Chad Gilbert and Cyrus Bolooki did tease the release of lead single “Get Me Home” on Instagram .

Keep your eyes peeled, fans. New New Found Glory tunes are on their way.

Punk bands on tour in 2023

Punk isn’t going anywhere.

Many genre mainstays that defined the sound of the late ’90s and early ’00s will bring their dizzying, delirious energy to venues all over the U.S. next year.

Here are just five of our favorite acts that will surely give you a jolt.

• Blink 182

• Paramore

• Turnstile

• Black Flag

• Flogging Molly

Plus, punk festivals have become de rigueur in a post-When We Were Young world.

This summer, the Adjacent Music Festival featuring Blink 182, Paramore, Bleachers and more will swoop into Atlantic City on May 27-28.

Then, come fall, When We Were Young with headliners Green Day, Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Offspring with others are set to return to Las Vegas on Oct. 21.

New Found Glory kicked off their “Make The Most of It Tour” in the Gateway City with a sold-out performance at Delmar Hall on Saturday night.

Imagine having the most energetic, jump up-and-down, power pop punk band in history unplugging in front of you. We all knew it was coming. We heard this last album and now, here it was, right there in front of us. An extremely talented lead singer, and three acoustic guitars with no drums when the lights came up. New Found Glory had taken the stage and their new tour had begun.

Everybody knows that this could not possibly work, unless you are New Found Glory. What they gave the audience tonight was a chance to be part of the music. They played with the same energy, heart, and skills that they have presented in the past but this time, they had a mission. They wanted the audience to sing along, hear every single lyric, and connect on a different level than ever before. And sing the audience did, from the opening verse of “Get Me Home” to the last lines of “Dream Born Again”, the fans were with the band song after song.

We were fortunate to be sitting next to diehard fans, Sara and Chris. They felt the same energy that they have at previous concerts when the band was fully electric and pounding out the sounds. They were pleased with this new approach. Apparently, so were the other members of the sold-out audience who clamored for more songs that they could sing, clap, and sway along with.

The most personal aspect of this performance was related to the cancer diagnosis of guitarist Chad Gilbert. He suffers from a very rare form of cancer that attacks the lungs; Pheochromocytoma. Remarkably, he was able to participate fully in this concert, sometimes seated and sometimes walking with other members of the band. It is amazing and gratifying how this band has circled around their guitarist and his family to produce an album that touches on the pain, loneliness, boundless fear, growing love and appreciation that comes from such an experience.

Several of the songs from their just released album, Make The Most Of It , were written specifically to describe and share this experience with the audience who they connect with so deeply. Some songs that come to mind from the album that brings us on this journey with the band, include “Watch The Lilies Grow”, (dedicated to Gilbert’s daughter, Lily), “Mouth To Mouth”, (his wife resuscitating him when she first found him unresponsive), and “Kiss The Floor”. It is important to note that a percentage of proceeds from the album go to the Pheo Para Alliance for research and development on this rare cancer. Also during each show of this tour a Taylor Mini Mahogany acoustic guitar with custom NFG pick guard will be raffled off to an audience member to raise money.

There was a lot of joking between the band members and engagement with the fans as the concert progressed. And at the beginning of the encores Leanna Firestone, who opened the show, was invited back to the stage. She played keyboards and backed up on “Sonny” and “I Don’t Wanna Know”. The audience was obviously pleased with the full effect of the change by a band that was brave enough to switch things up after a storied 27-year career, cheering until the last notes faded and the lights came up. Bravo to you, New Found Glory, carry on!

Aforementioned Leanna Firestone opened the concert bravely sitting in front of an enthusiastic crowd on the first night of a brand-new tour with just her acoustic guitar and her voice to carry her forward. She is a well-known TikTok star with over 700,000 followers. Her music is a blend of pop and narrative lyricism related to her past experiences. She was humorous in her approach and the audience fully accepted her honesty and candor. The audience knew and sang along with her on “Least Favorite Only Child” one of her early hits.

Leanna has a beautiful singing voice and writes lyrics with truth and honesty. Her music has a coffee house vibe. There is a mellow, sweet, and thoughtful essence in her songs. She wasn’t afraid to face a broken heart or share that with us, knowing that we have all been there at one time or another. She also sang her newest EP Public Displays of Affection in its entirety . The beauty in Leanna’s songs is that what she shares in her lyrics is what we feel when she sings her songs, it’s all out front in her songwriting in the manner of a Joni Mitchell or Jewel. Her future as an on-stage performer seems to be assured because of her ability to give herself fully and artistically. Leanna is a talented acoustic guitarist with meaningful lyrics and a gorgeous voice.

New Found Glory kicks off acoustic tour in St. Louis

new found glory acoustic tour

The first show of punk legend New Found Glory ’s “Make the Most of It” Acoustic Tour kicked off at Delmar Hall in St. Louis, Missouri on January 28th. The show sold out fast, with a crowd ranging in ages from pre-teens to teenagers to people in their late thirties and early forties. St. Louis has been on the receiving end of many a live music event over the years, but I’m not sure we’ve ever seen an acoustic tour sell out as fast as this one did. In an age where rock bands like to throw all sorts of special events – guitar pulls, meet-and-greets, Q&A’s – most of them are more ways to make money than they are ways to preserve the integrity of the music, which is often lost in the process. The “Make the Most of It” tour was not one of those events.

The name says it all: rather than masking itself with gimmicks and extra bells and whistles, on this tour New Found Glory is letting the music speak for itself.

Leanna Firestone, a fairly new acoustic singer/songwriter, took the stage before New Found Glory as their support act. She seemed so excited to be on stage and, with just her and her acoustic guitar, played through some of her most popular hits, including “You Just Didn’t Like Me That Much,” “Google Translate,” and “Love of My Life.” With her simple and sultry vocals, she had the crowd’s attention the entire time she was on stage and had the majority of those in attendance singing right along with her. It really set the tone for New Found Glory’s performance.

New Found Glory, who have been around for over 20 years, are known for playing upbeat, pop-punk shows that are fun to dance along with. However, this acoustic tour was a surprising departure from the norm, and it worked out well for both the audience and the band. Once the show got rolling, they had everyone in the audience singing along to tracks from the bands early days all the way up to their newest album Make the Most of It . They played new hits like “Mouth to Mouth” and “Understatement”, which were both very well received by the crowd, while also playing some of the classic older songs like “My Friends Over You,” and “All Downhill From Here” which are more nostalgic for fans who have been listening to them since they started in the early 2000’s but still sound great today. The band seemed very happy. They had smiles on their faces and seemed genuinely thrilled to be on stage. Even though they’re not known for being a strictly acoustic band, they sounded wonderful.

I’d go ahead and say that the first stop on the “Make the Most of It” Acoustic Tour was a roaring success. The crowd at Delmar Hall was electric, Leanna Firestone sounded beautiful, and New Found Glory put on an energetic show that had the crowd buzzing like it was 2003. With plenty of more dates available, grab your tickets now for the “Make the Most of It” Acoustic Tour.

They became the voice of an underground movement, spurring iconic gold and platinum records (2000’s New Found Glory, 2002’s Sticks & Stones, and 2004’s Catalyst), countless MTV appearances, an entire subgenre (easycore) and sold-out tours the world over.

But, as the band have also learned, everything can get upended in the blink of an eye. In December 2021, fresh off the celebratory Pop Punk’s Still Not Dead Tour in support of their 10th album, Forever + Ever x Infinity, guitarist Chad Gilbert was found unresponsive in bed at home, rushed to a local hospital, and diagnosed with an 8-inch cancerous tumor, a rare pheochromocytoma. Hospital stays, surgery, and a long road to recovery followed – but, in typical New Found Glory fashion, so did the songs. The band’s forthcoming acoustic album, MAKE THE MOST OF IT (Revelation Records), tackles the last year head-on with their most emotional and cathartic collection of songs to date. Written in the wake of Gilbert’s cancer diagnosis and mixed by Mark Trombino (blink-182, Jimmy Eat World), MAKE THE MOST OF IT is a rumination on what it means to grieve, to live, to approach every day with appreciation and a sense of fulfillment. There’s gratitude for the CPR Gilbert’s wife performed on him (“Mouth To Mouth”), for the doctors who got him back on the road in time to celebrate the landmark 20th anniversary of Sticks & Stones (“Get Me Home”), and for life in general – the opportunity to wake up every day in this beautiful, messy, heartbreaking world (“Kiss The Floor”).
