The former Rob Zombie guitarist was enlisted as the replacement for Mick Mars, following his departure from the band last year.

Mars, who co-founded the band in 1981, announced that he would be retiring from touring in October, following numerous health reasons. Suffering from degenerative disease Ankylosing Spondylitis for many years, the seventy-one-year-old is still regarded as a member of Mötley Crüe, but simply no longer performing with the band.

Following the announcement, John 5 made an official statement , confirming that he was “honoured to carry on Mick’s legacy” and would be joining the band for their upcoming worldwide tour.

The stint of live performances will kick off this Friday (10 February) in New Jersey, find a full list of dates on the band’s website .

Last week (31 January), the guitarist also took to social media to showcase the gear he will be taking with him for the live shows.

For the most part, the rig consisted of various Floyd Rose-equipped Telecasters – often seen in his weekly Mötley Crüe covers – and a range of Boss pedals and Marshall cabinets.

Poison’s Bret Michaels also added: “There are not enough words to thank the three generations of fans for making this such an exciting, record breaking, historical tour with the fastest sell outs in history at these stadiums.”

Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock ‘n’ roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blew the door to the boys’ club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.” With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs’ LA punk masterpiece ‘GI.’ Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny’s Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue touring the globe with headlining shows alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, and Foo Fighters. After two COVID-19 postponements, the group will return to the road in summer 2022 for The Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison. ‘Bad Reputation,’ a documentary about Jett’s life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and is now available for streaming.

“We are so excited to be back out on the road! We missed doing what we love most and can’t wait to see the fans out there again!” said Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

Emerging rock band Classless Act, signed to Better Noise Music, is set to open the tour. With the release of their single “Give It To Me” in 2021, the band has already received critical praise from the likes of rock media including SPIN, Loudwire, and more. Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee was an early follower of the band and is excited to have them join him and his bandmates on the road, saying, “I remember when we went out with Ozzy in 1984 and how it was an insane game changer!! We literally blew up after having that opportunity to play live in front of 20,000 people every f***ing night! Since then, we’ve always felt it was important to help new bands; whether it was Guns N Roses, Skid Row or so many others.  This summer we’re gonna help out Classless Act.”

motley crue tour band lineup

Here Is The First Official Photo Of MÖTLEY CRÜE's New Lineup

John 5 has taken to social media to share the first official photo of MÖTLEY CRÜE 's new lineup, taken by legendary rock photographer Ross Halfin . Check out his post below.

MÖTLEY CRÜE held its first rehearsal with the former ROB ZOMBIE and MARILYN MANSON guitarist on January 23 in preparation for the band's upcoming shows with DEF LEPPARD . A short time later, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx took to his Twitter to write: "Well that was fucking epic.

"@john5guitarist walks into rehearsal and we just rip the set from top to bottom seamlessly. That took 90 minute's and then the next few hours we just laughed and told dumb rockstar war stories.

"@MotleyCrue DAY 1".

He followed that up with an Instagram Story post thanking the band's crew and gushing that "today sounded insane."

John 5 joined CRÜE as the replacement for founding guitarist Mick Mars , who announced last October he would no longer tour with the legendary rock act because of his long struggles with degenerative disease ankylosing spondylitis. Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of arthritis that causes inflammation in the spine joints and ligaments and can lead to stiffness over time, according to the National Institute Of Arthritis And Musculoskeletal And Skin Diseases.

In October, Sixx praised John 5 , saying he "checks all the boxes" as Mars 's replacement following the latter's decision to retire from touring. Sixx commented on John 5 's addition to CRÜE while answering fan questions on Twitter . Asked why the band chose John 5 , who is one of the credited co-writers on the three original songs on CRÜE 's "The Dirt" soundtrack, Sixx said: "He checks all the boxes. He's a insane player. Has respect for our music, is funny as fuck and has history with us and we've written some pretty big hits together."

Sixx also addressed Mars 's announcement that he was retiring from touring, saying: "He's been a soldier along with us for 4 decades. We will continue to carrying our legacy to Generations of fans and honor Mick s request for us to keep touring as Motley Crue ."

In addition to co-writing the three songs on "The Dirt" , John 5 collaborated with Sixx and Desmond Child on Meat Loaf 's "The Monster Is Loose" . In 2021, Sixx and John 5 launched the L.A. RATS supergroup in which they were joined by Rob Zombie and drummer Tommy Clufetos .

The 71-year-old Mars — whose real name is Robert Alan Deal — served as MÖTLEY CRÜE 's lead guitarist since the band's inception in 1981.

In his statement, Mick said that he had decided to step back from live shows due to his "ongoing painful struggle" with ankylosing spondylitis and while he will continue to be a member of the band, he cannot "handle the rigors" of touring life.

Speculation about John 5 replacing Mars gained strength after the longtime ROB ZOMBIE guitarist failed to appear with the shock rocker at last year's Aftershock festival in Sacramento. Rob was instead joined on stage by returning guitarist Mike Riggs for the first time since 2006.

MÖTLEY CRÜE 's "The Stadium Tour" with DEF LEPPARD , POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally scheduled to take place in the summer of 2020 but ended up being pushed back to 2021, and then to 2022, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After selling more than 1.3 million tickets in 2022, MÖTLEY CRÜE and DEF LEPPARD and are going global in 2023 with their co-headline "The World Tour" along with special guest Alice Cooper . After the launch of European and Latin American dates, the U.S. dates will take place in August.

Produced by Live Nation , the U.S. leg of the world tour kicks off on August 5 in Syracuse, New York. The bands will bring their electrifying stage shows across America throughout the month of August including being the first-ever show at the H.A. Chapman Stadium in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In November, MÖTLEY CRÜE and DEF LEPPARD announced two U.S. shows for February 2023. The two bands will play at the 7,000-capacity Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena in Atlantic City, New Jersey on February 10 and February 11.

The Atlantic City shows will mark MÖTLEY CRÜE 's first U.S. live appearances since Mick 's retirement announcement.

The 35th anniversary of their GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS hit album is coming up on May 15.

After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover." With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs' LA punk masterpiece ‘GI.’ Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny’s Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 'Bad Reputation,' a documentary about Jett's life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and is now available for streaming.

Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee was an early follower of the band and is excited to have them join him and his bandmates on the road, saying,  "I remember when we went out with Ozzy in 1984 and how it was an insane game changer!! We literally blew up after having that opportunity to play live in front of 20,000 people every f***ing night! Since then, we’ve always felt it was important to help new bands; whether it was Guns N Roses, Skid Row or so many others. This summer we’re gonna help out Classless Act."

Motley Crue + Def Leppard Will Tour the World Together in 2023

International fans of  Motley Crue and Def Leppard will get their chance to see the two bands together when the rock groups' joint 2022 North American "The Stadium Tour" becomes "The World Tour" for 2023.

The Stadium Tour kicked off in June  after being postponed twice  due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The trek featured supporting acts in  Poison ,  Joan Jett and the Blackhearts  and Classless Act .

Now, the world stage is calling the Crue and the Leppard.

Motley Crue said in a statement, "We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can't wait to take the show around the globe with The World Tour in 2023. Crueheads in Latin America and Europe: Get ready! We're coming for you next and can't wait to finally see all of you out there again next year!"

Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott added, "After finally getting back on the road and having a monumental summer tour in the U.S. and Canada this year, we’re beyond thrilled to be bringing this massive stadium tour to major cities all over the world. … We're looking to forward to seeing you out there, somewhere soon!"

According to Billboard , The Stadium Tour  sold 1.3 million tickets this summer, earning a whopping $173.5 million. Read a young millennial's experience going to the concert .

Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee revealed at the first gig in June that he'd broken his ribs and would perform as much as he could, a fill-in subbing in for him. However, he played his first full set  later that month. Weeks later, the drummer exposed himself in a nude photo that was subsequently removed from social media. Lee later  poked fun at the situation .

MÖTLEY CRÜE Reveal First Official Photo Of New Live Lineup Ahead Of World Tour 2023

Mötley Crüe - who recently announced that guitarist Mick Mars will no longer tour with the band, and is replaced for live activity by John 5 - have shared the first official image of the new lineup ahead of the band's upcoming world tour. The image below was shot by famed photographer, Ross Halfin.

motley crue tour band lineup

Mötley Crüe issued the following statement in regards to the announcement that Mick Mars is stepping down from performing live: "While change is never easy, we accept Mick's decision to retire from the band due to the challenges with his health. We have watched Mick manage his Ankylosing Spondylitis for decades and he has always managed it with utmost courage and grace. To say "enough is enough" is the ultimate act of courage. Mick's sound helped define Mötley Crüe from the minute he plugged in his guitar at our very first rehearsal together. The rest, as they say, is history. We'll continue to honor his musical legacy. We will carry out Mick's wish and continue to tour the world as planned in 2023. No doubt will it take an absolutely outstanding musician to fill Mick's shoes so we are grateful that our good friend, John 5 has agreed to come on board and join us moving forward. We'll see all you Crüeheads out on the road!" - Vince, Tommy & Nikki

John 5 - "I'm honored to carry on Mick's legacy and am looking forward to playing these songs.”

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard are going global in 2023 with their co-headlining "The World Tour". Produced by Live Nation, the world tour kicks off with two intimate shows in Atlantic City on February 10 and 11. The trek is currently schedule to wrap up on August 18 in El Paso, Texas.

Bryan Adams, Joan Jett jolt the pulse of rock 'n' roll at US tour opener

motley crue tour band lineup

BALTIMORE – A cheeky video opened Bryan Adams' show that proclaimed him the savior of rock 'n' roll. Out of the darkness, the man himself appeared in a shard of red light to rumble through "Kick Ass," a rowdy rocker true to its title.

The song is from Adams’ 2022 album, "So Happy It Hurts," and confirmed that 40-plus years into his career, the Canadian hitmaker, while maybe not the savior of rock 'n' roll, deserves much applause for keeping its pulse racing.

On Tuesday, Adams landed at Baltimore's CFG Bank Arena for the launch of the So Happy It Hurts tour, which will hit U.S. arenas through August with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts serving as exceptional openers.

Adams, 63, and his taut four-piece band including longtime guitarist Keith Scott, began their world voyage in January 2022 with a spate of dates in Asia and Europe. The muscularity that comes with consistent performing was evident in a 100-minute, 23-song set stocked with well-worn chestnuts and a few nods to newer fare.

Bryan Adams reminded fans about 'the great Tina Turner'

Clad in a casual uniform of dark pants and sneakers, Adams roamed the open stage while playing guitar, frequently hopping down to a platform that sported microphone stands at each end to hit every segment of the arena.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Whether rolling through the joyfully swinging "Can't Stop This Thing We Started" or leading the crowd that filled the lower bowl and floor of the venue through fist-pumper "Somebody," Adams proved that songs he tailored for arenas decades ago still resound with a melodic punch.

While guitar crunchers "It's Only Love" – recorded, he reminded, with "the great Tina Turner" – and "The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me is You" rattled appropriately, Adams is also regarded as a bit of a ballad king, and he didn’t disappoint those enamored with his softer contributions.

"Please Forgive Me" and "Here I Am" drew modest cheers, but the indelible piano opening from Gary Breit on "Heaven" prompted an immediate singalong of the first verse. Though Adams happily obliged the crowd their karaoke moment, his own voice soared with its trademark warm gruffness.

What is Bryan Adams' biggest ballad?

Surprisingly, for all of the high-octane offerings - "18 Til I Die" and the fun-but-ridiculously-ubiquitous "Summer of '69" among them – a highlight of the concert was pegged to another slow burner, His 1991 multiplatinum megahit about unyielding devotion, "(Everything I Do) I Do it For You," bears the stain of extreme popularity at proms and weddings, and because the masses love it, it can’t possibly be good, right? Yes, it’s treacly. It’s also sweet, meaningful and on this night, performed with impressive range.

Adams' catalog is unquestionably durable. Who would argue the air guitar joys of the no-frills "Cuts Like a Knife" or "Run to You?"

But even recent offerings, including "I've Been Looking for You" from his current album and the rockabilly shaker "You Belong to Me" from 2015's "Get Up" album, showcased his undiminished ability to fortify the spirit of rock 'n' roll.

Joan Jett & The Blackhearts debut new songs

Also keeping the beat steady was Jett and her Blackhearts, who spent last summer opening for Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Poison on The Stadium Tour.

The seemingly ageless Jett , 64, and her quartet of power rockers, established an assertive vibe with a new song, "Shooting Into Space" from the just-released "Mindsets" EP.

Though it was quickly followed by the Runaways favorite, "Cherry Bomb," Jett's statement that she still isn’t finished creating potent four-on-the-floor rockers was duly noted. Throughout the near-hourlong performance, she and the band slammed out three other new tracks, including the ultra-catchy, guitar-centric single, "If You’re Blue" and, to wrap the set, the saloon singalong "Whiskey Goes Good."

But fans yearning to hear her crushed-gravel voice on longtime classics were sated as well.

A diminutive figure in all-black, including her signature shag hair, Jett slashed at her guitar during "Do You Wanna Touch Me (Oh Yeah)," loped through the rolling groove of "Fake Friends" and handled a serrated solo on her sizzling cover of Sly and the Family Stone’s original diversity anthem, "Everyday People."

Among the Blackhearts is longtime manager/producer/right hand man Kenny Laguna, who, in addition to playing keyboards and percussion, also acted as narrator as he shared anecdotes in his deep New York accent about the origins of "Fake Friends" (music industry hypocrites) and "Fresh Start" (from Jett's 2018 "Bad Reputation" documentary).

Naturally, "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" required no backstory and fans leapt to their feet to shout along with the jukebox staple.

But Jett wasn't going to end on an obvious note. Instead, she and the Blackhearts amped up the volume to storm through "Crimson & Clover" and "I Hate Myself for Loving You," both songs validating that Jett still possesses plenty of bite.
