For many people, Journey is more than just a rock band.

In fact, Journey might be considered the ultimate rock band of its time with classic, unforgettable hit songs like Lovin’, Touchin’, Squeezin’, Open Arms, Wheel in the Sky, and the universally acclaimed and staggeringly popular power ballad Don’t Stop Believin’.

What started out as a group for backing other artists in the early 1970s became a rock n’ roll sensation that, to this day, still gets their audience’s pulses racing with every high-power performance. The band continues to be be popular and tour to this day, and now features a revamped lineup, with Arnel Pineda responsible for the epic lead vocals of original vocalist, Steve Perry.

Suffice it to say, after millions of records sold, thousands of concerts held, and more than a dozen singles in the Top 40 Billboard Charts in the United States, Journey remains strong in every rock enthusiast’s heart. Of course, that means Journey is ripe for a tribute!

# 1 – e5c4p3.

Our choice for the absolute BEST Journey tribute band of all time was close, but this incredible “Steve Perry” clone cements the deal: E5C4P3 (pronounced, “Escape”!) is among the first Journey tribute bands ever to exist.

Formed in 1993 , the band went on a whirlwind tour that’s never truly stopped, traveling the world to revive the same energy and spirit that Journey has brought to its fans.

Band founder Jason Kelty , a Steve Perry impersonator who formed E5C4P3 before “tribute bands” were a thing, provides the spot-on, letter-perfect lead vocals. His amazing singing voice contributes to a nostalgic concert experience for Journey fans from start to finish.

Bassist and vocalist Paul Soos provides the counterpoint lead vocals of Journey songs originally voiced by Gregg Rolie. Paul too learned music early on, fronted bands of his own and joined forces with the incredible Jason Kelty to form the very difficult-to-type E5C4P3. The combination of Paul’s and Jason’s voices gives this Journey tribute a real one-two vocal punch.

George McGrew , the band’s guitarist and vocalist, is an experienced and talented musician, having learned to play musical instruments from a very young age, and keyboardist Erney Chaney has been playing the piano since he was a child. In the 80s, he co-founded a popular Christian rock band called “Twenty Twenty”. In 2009 he performed keyboards for Strat5, who was awarded at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio as Fortune Magazine’s “Best Band in Corporate America”.

Drummer Billy Jones has over three decades of drums experience and has performed across the country, Canada, and overseas.

Together, the band continues to define the meaning of the perfect tribute in every packed venue, thanks to their renditions of fan favorites like Open Arms, Separate Ways, and Faithfully . Some of their recent shows include Cleveland and Pittsburgh, and they regularly perform around Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

# 2 – Voyage

VOYAGE is a respected Journey tribute band filled with veteran musicians and brings the most unified, complete Journey experience

The lead vocalist, Hugo Valenti , is best known for his uncanny resemblance to Steve Perry, both in visuals and in sound. It’s the next best thing to the signature sound of renowned vocalist Steve Perry. Seeing him onstage feels like being transported back to the 80s and watching the original lineup perform – a true concert experience for anyone who loves Journey.

Prior to his position as lead vocalist for VOYAGE, singer Hugo was initially the frontman for the band Valentine, which debuted in 1990 on Warner Brothers records.

Other members of the band include Robby Hoffman, Lance Millard, Greg Smith, and Dana Spellman – some of the biggest names in their respective fields. Renowned drummer Charlie Zeleny and keyboardist Al Spinelli also had a brief stint with VOYAGE.

Hoffman previously played lead guitar for In The Pink, a hard rock band based in Boston. Millard leads SIR ELTON, an Elton John tribute band, and he also toured with Fiona and Angel, two 80s rock bands.

Meanwhile, Smith currently provides vocals and plays bass for Ted Nugent . He also has experience doing backup vocals for award-winning artists like Billy Joel and Alice Cooper. Lastly, although Spellman didn’t have any prior rock experience to this, he did teach at Berklee College of Music and has greatly helped VOYAGE perform hundreds of shows across the US.

Together, these world-class New York musicians can sell thousands of tickets and jampack arenas, fairs, and public venues.

Some of their most recent shows include Montclair and Huntington in New Jersey, as well as Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. They’re already scheduled to perform at Atlantic City, Reading, and New York City later this year, so be sure to check those out if you’re interested.

# 3 – Absolute Journey Tribute

Absolute Journey Tribute, also known as AJT, is a Journey tribute band from San Francisco that does its best to stay faithful to the original band.

Each show is an energy-filled, unforgettable performance. AJT makes sure to interact with its audience as possible, even taking the time to do costume changes in between sets to maintain the fun and excitement.

Riccardo Curzi , the lead vocalist, can bring the spirit of Journey alive as he is an absolute dead ringer for the band’s most iconic lead singer, Steve Perry. His incredible high-energy performance will certainly leave a mark on the audience,  being one of the few who can pull off Steve Perry’s vocal range and stage movements during concerts – the same energy that brought the band critical acclaim.

The other band members, Marko Stojanovic, Dan Benezra, Andrew Scola, and Jaden Spanier are just as remarkable, matching up to the original band with fantastic accuracy.

One of the coolest things these guys did is to close for a STYX concert in Quebec back in 2017.

# 4 – DSB

Compared to other tributes on this list, DSB, short for “Don’t Stop Believin” is a relatively recent tribute band, only playing for the first time in 2009. Since then, it has garnered a lot of popularity. Prior to the COVID pandemic, DSB boasted an astonishing tour schedule with approximately 120 shows all over America per year.

With the band’s high-energy performances and accurate renditions of the best Journey songs, it certainly lives up to its self-given title of “World’s Greatest Tribute to Journey.”

Lead vocalist Juan del Castillo has been a professional musician since seemingly since birth. His parents discovered his talent early on and started his voice training at three years old. Juan began his formal career performing in theaters at the tender age of nine.

Roger Cain , (brother of Jonathan Cain of JOURNEY) the lead guitarist, also started music at a young age, learning to strum the guitar as soon as he could reach the cords.

Other band members have included the talented Scotty Kormos on drums, Tony Love on bass, and Henry O’Neill on keyboards.

DSB attributes their success to their faithful renditions of Journey’s performances. They spend hours perfecting their personal take of the sound of Journey and strive to give the fans an accurate mirror of every rhythm and note of the band that they love.

Next on our list of the best Journey tribute bands is Resurrection. Nicknamed The Golden Standard, after which all journey tribute bands are measured, Resurrection is one of the most popular tribute bands working today.

Formed relatively recently in 2014 when the band’s keyboardist and founding members Vic White and Ryan Christopher first played tribute songs to a live audience, the band has grown in popularity and now tours all across the United States.

The band is dedicated to bringing the Journey experience to the modern-day when Journey’s music ruled the radio and concert stadiums. Best known for its all-inclusive offering of more than 30 rosé wines, along with spirits and craft beer, this year Seaglass will feature an expanded menu of food from some of the area’s favorite dining spots. They include Burlock Coast, Even Keel, Coconuts, Carlos & Pepe’s, Timpano, Wine + Garden, Hatch, Boardgasm and Sicilian Oven, among others.

While the event will include the customary DJ, the creators of Seaglass understand that the go-to good-times soundtrack these days is music that’s nearly 50 years old from the likes of classic-rock icons such as Journey and Styx.

There may be no better translator of those songs than South Florida tribute band Majesty of Rock and its extraordinary lead singer John D’Agostino, who will headline Friday’s opening night at Seaglass. Saturday’s musical act will be alt-pop band The Collektives (featuring Tatiana Blades), followed on Sunday by country singer Gabriel Key.

Fort Lauderdale-based Majesty of Rock has been playing the hits of Journey and Styx on the tribute band circuit for a decade, performing everywhere from private country-club soirees to local park festivals on both coasts of South Florida (their next local concert is at Weston Regional Park on Feb. 10). Business is good, but that’s not why they do it. 

“This is the stuff we grew up with. It makes us happy when we can play it and we see the response of the crowd,” says bandleader and bassist Rob Doyle, 60, a Tamarac resident and telecommunications engineer by day. “It’s good music. If it’s good music, it’s always good music. It’s never gonna lose that.” 

Majesty of Rock is not a tribute band concerned with trying to look like Journey and Styx, but puts in hours of rehearsal time to “sound as close as we can to what people remember, to what people hear on the record,” Doyle says. 

At his peak, Journey frontman Steve Perry had one of the most distinctive and powerful voices in the history of rock music. While singers in many Journey tribute bands struggle to hit and hold the higher notes in songs such as “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Open Arms,” D’Agostino makes it all seem effortless. His rendition of Journey’s ballad “Faithfully,” with minimal accompaniment from the band, is a cell-waving showstopper.

It all works for Hollywood resident Becky Coleman, who first saw Majesty of Rock a few years ago at a festival in Dania Beach.

“They were so great. They respect the music and just let the songs speak for themselves. That’s all I want, you know what I mean?” says Coleman, 45. “Of course, the singer is amazing. He looks like a rock star.”

D’Agostino is a New York native who grew up in Coconut Creek and performed in various South Florida cover bands since he was a teenager. He had a unique ability to handle the soaring vocals of some of the most popular bands in pop and rock, from early Bee Gees to Journey, Styx, Boston, Kansas and Rush.

Doyle was a veteran of several cover bands in South Florida and his native Canada when he discovered D’Agostino performing in a bar in Coral Springs and pitched the idea of a Journey cover band.

“When you close your eyes, most people say they hear Steve Perry. They still say that to this day, which is a testament to John, his natural ability and the work he’s done with his voice,” Doyle says.

D’Agostino, 65, who lives in Delray Beach and works a day job in home remodeling, acknowledges being obsessed with Perry since he first heard Journey’s 1978 single “Lights” on the radio.  He’s had no vocal training, unless you count the hours of his youth spent listening to favorites David Gates (Bread), Dan Fogelberg and Art Garfunkel, then Perry, Dennis DeYoung (Styx) and Steve Walsh (Kansas).

“I wasn’t normal. Everyone called me a freak of nature,” he says, laughing. “I grew up with speakers on either side of my head, playing these songs, trying to sound exactly like them, getting in perfect timing with them.”

His ability to work in the higher vocal range came naturally, D’Agostino says.

“When I was younger, I sounded more like a girl. So I used to do a lot of female vocals back then. I used to do Heart, Pat Benatar,” he says, laughing. “Boston was so easy for me. Rush was easy, until I got about 25, because (singer Geddy Lee) was really high.”

Performing the music of Journey in Majesty of Rock — other members of the band include guitarist Daryl Tomas, keyboardist Barry Gruber and drummer Dennis Pelchat — is “the highest honor” he can give to Perry, D’Agostino says, and he’s happy to share the music with others who love it. 

“If you listen to any one of our shows, almost every song, everyone is singing,” he says.

    Xpedition's band members have earned the reputation of being one of the top tribute acts touring the United States.

    XPEDITION by definition: A journey or voyage undertaken by a group of people with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration.

   This voyage began as a cohesive Journey Tribute,

 ( formerly known as SFO-A Tribute To Journey ) with top notch musicians hailing from, Nashville, Florida, and Minnesota, with years of touring experience.

They performed some of the largest stages in the USA, and their fans wanted more!  The band's exploration took their fans to new heights by performing the additional music of, Foreigner, Kansas, and Styx.

Q&a with never stop believin’ | journey tribute band | broward, florida.

NEVER STOP BELIEVIN’ has been rocking stages all over the U.S. and beyond since its inception in 2008. We bring both the look and sound of Journey in their prime years to each and every show, complete with five-part vocals – the premiere tribute to Journey.

To assist you in booking Florida Based Journey Tribute Band  for your upcoming event, we recently had a Q&A session with them!

Q. What are the most common events that you perform at?  A. – We perform at stadiums, such as Roger Dean Stadium (Miami, FL), Digital Domain Stadium  (Port St. Lucie, FL), Joker Merchant Stadium (Lakeland, FL), Norfolk Memorial Stadium (Norfolk, VA),  Spectrum Field (Clearwater, FL) and, of course, Marlins Park and Dolphins Stadium (Miami, FL).  – We also perform at resorts like Pirate’s Cove in Stuart, Florida, The Club at Admiral’s Cove Resort and  Marina in Stuart, Florida and we recently added Laketown Wharf in Panama City Beach to that list.  – As do many professional tribute acts, we also perform in theaters and performing arts centers, such as  The Ritz Theater in Tampa, Florida, The Calumet Theater in Michigan’s upper peninsula, the Manatee  Performing Arts Center in Bradenton, the Martin Theater in Panama City Beach, Florida, and we’ll be adding  the beautiful Reilly Arts Center in Ocala Florida to that list this August.  – In addition, we love to perform at festivals, such as Newport Richey’s Kia Fest and Marco Island’s Seafood Fest.  One of our absolute favorites has been Weekends on Webster in North Tonawanda, New York, which we’ve  played for six years running.  – We play an endless array of Performance Halls in communities such as the Villages in Wildwood, Florida,  Valencia Shores in Lake Worth, Florida, the Village at Deaton Creek in Hoschton, Georgia and many more.  – Likewise, we perform at casinos. Some of our favorites include the Riverwind Casino Showplace Theater,  known as one of the best places to see live music in Oklahoma, and the Casino Miami Jai Alai.  – We have been known to perform at private parties on occasion. What happens there stays there! – Finally, we have to mention the world famous Daytona Beach Bandshell, where we’ve had the honor of being  featured every year since our inception in 2010. Q. How long have you been in the entertainment industry? A. The members of this band have collectively been successfully navigating the entertainment industry for 177 years:

Q. Is there audience interaction in your act? A.  There’s always audience interaction at our shows. Our lead singer, Billy D. Lindley, and guitarist, Clint Ettorre, perform with wireless gear so they can easily step down from the stage and interact with audience members and dancers, who often like to help out with the vocals. On the larger stages, our bassist, Kam Falk, performs with wireless gear as well.

Q. What is one of the highlights of your show? A. The highlight of our show has become Clint’s performance of the National Anthem as Neal Schon of Journey. He always performs a stirring rendition that moves the audience – especially our veterans and their families.

Q. What’s your most favourite gig to date and why? A.  Without question, one of our greatest moments took place when we did a show in Trinidad to benefit three patients who needed surgery and became recipients through the efforts of a wonderful family, the Mohammeds, who live in Port of Spain, Trinidad. After the performance, for which we were given the proverbial red carpet treatment, our friends the Mohammed family took us out to enjoy some of the amazing indigenous food and even invited us to spend some time with them in their beautiful mountain residence. 

Q. Whereabouts have you played in the country/world? A, Santo Domingo, Trinidad, Honduras, Georgia, New York, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia Beach, our home base, Florida, and many more national and international locations.

Q. Describe your act in 5 words. A.  One show, two amazing tributes. 

Q. What type of occasion/event have you the most experience performing at? A. Festivals. 

Q. Do you have any overtime charges if the event runs late? A.   Is the event held indoors or outdoors? If the event is being held outdoors, is there an alternative in case of rain, or is the stage  protected? What is the size of the stage, and does the venue meet the power requirements for the band’s sound system and lights?  Does the client want continuous music or do they prefer an intermission? What will the travel arrangements and overnight  accommodations entail? Will the band be performing self-contained or working with a sound and lighting company? 

Q. Is you act child-friendly? A. Yes.

Q. Do you have any video links on your Profile for a booker to view your act? A. Yes, there are three videos – one is for our show, TITANS OF ROCK, which features both Bon Jovi and Journey Tributes, and the  other two feature our mainstay, NEVER STOP BELIEVIN’, which is our Journey tribute. However, we should mention that each tribute,  LIVIN’ ON A PRAYER (Bon Jovi) and NEVER STOP BELIEVIN’ (Journey), can also perform as a self-contained, two-hour show.

Q. Can you tailor your act to the booker’s requirements? A. Yes we have a long history of doing so.

Q. On average, how much do you cost to hire? A.  Our price ranges widely depending upon several details, such as whether we are asked to provide sound and lights and the extent of the travel involved. We might perform at one event for $3,500.00 and another for $10,000.00. In any case, we always give it our best effort to work with both agencies and clients as partners and to keep all options affordable. We can, and often do, perform self-contained with our own sound and lights.

Q. Do you have any online reviews a booker can read? A.  Yes, some reviews may be found at our official site.

Q. What is the average duration of your act? A.  Normally, we play two one-hour sets with a short intermission. However, that can be customized for each event to be 45 minute sets,   continuous, or whatever the client may desire. Sometimes events require the band to break on cure and allow speakers to make  announcements,   give out awards, take collections at fundraisers, introduce VIP’s, present videos, hold raffles, etc. We always work  with clients in order to   accommodate the needs for each event.

Q. Are there any cancellation fees? A.  We’ve never charged a cancellation fee. However, each booking we make involves a deposit, usually 50%, but not always. If a  client cancels with no reasonable notice, they will forfeit their deposit. But, I repeat, it hasn’t ever happened.

Q. What sets your act apart from your competition? A.  In a word, it’s quality. We have searched far and wide for a singer who can perform as both Jon Bon Jovi and Steve Perry, and  we found a very gifted vocalist in Billy D. Lindley. The band was already tight when he came along, so it was a marriage made in heaven – literally.

Q. Do you have an idea age-range? A.  Typically, our act is friendly to audiences of all ages. Bon Jovi appeals to most everyone who grew up in the 80’s, but Journey,  in particular, has had one resurgence after another by allowing their classic song, Don’t Stop Believin’, to be featured at sporting  events that cater to all ages, and on T.V. shows such as Glee, making the group familiar and appealing to all ages.

Q. What was your worst gig and why? A.  Our worst gig happened in Clearwater, Florida at what used to be known as Bright House Field, and is now known as Spectrum Field.  We can name names because the reason it was bad had nothing to do with the venue or us. We had schlepped all of our gear to the stage  and set it up early in the afternoon for a sound check and everything was ready to go. The sound company was terrific. Then, a mass of  clouds began to move in and it poured rain for the rest of the evening. The concert was cancelled, and even the game was rained out after it had already begun .

Q. How long before the event do you typically arrive at the venue? A.  Most often, we arrive at a venue up to eight hours before a show (sometimes less when not necessary). That allows us time to get checked  into a hotel, when applicable, set up our gear, sound check and troubleshoot any problems or other issues that must be addressed without  having to scramble. If all goes well, we’ll have a short break before the show.

Q. Do you have an interval? A.  We like major ninths and elevenths… don’t really understand this question.

Q. Are you insured for Public Liability? A.  We looked into maintaining a policy, but found it was more economical to insure ourselves only at those events where it is required.  Otherwise, we would often be providing redundant liability insurance for those venues which already have policies that cover our situation.

Q. Do you sell any merchandise? A.  Although we haven’t sold merchandise on gigs, some of the band members have produced CD’s and have distributed them at iTunes. 

Q. If you were to cancel on the day due to an emergency, do you provide a back-up? A.  We have an abundance of contacts in the industry and, in our history of nearly a decade, we’ve managed to meet every obligation for which  we’ve been committed.

Q. Are there any other services you offer, such as MC’ing? A.  Yes, we have three band members, each of whom assists with introductions, announcements and MC’ing. Those members are Gary Bivona,   our musical director, Billy D. Lindley, our lead singer, and Clint Ettorre, our guitarist.

Q. Do you require a meal? A.  We don’t require a that meals be provided; however, in most cases, food and non-alcoholic drink have been generously offered.

Q. How far in advance would you advise that the booker book you? A.  We have gigs booked well into 2018 at this point, so it’s always a good idea to book as far in advance as possible. There are windows of  availability, of course, but many of our events are held on weekends, so they tend to get booked first. Weekday availability much easier for  us to accommodate .

Q. Would there be any fees that the booker is not accounting for? A.  Any necessary travel fees are taken into account when the band sets the price for the gig, so there are no hidden charges.

Q. What kind of outfit will you wear? A.  The band dresses in costumes similar to the outfits worn by the original artists, unless otherwise instructed by the agent or client.

Q. Do you use flashing lights in your act? A.  Yes, we typically have a light show, although we can customize it for the client when we are booked to run it ourselves.

Q. Do you require help to set up your equipment/set-up? A.  No – most often, we’re able to set up our own equipment. The only time we need some help is when the stage isn’t accessible to our vehicles.  Then we need some help carting the gear to the stage, but we can do the rest from there.

Q. Do you have a back-up plan if there is a malfunction with the equipment? A.  Yes, we generally own two of everything.

Q. Would you say you have a good rapport with your audience? A.  We have a fantastic rapport with our audiences and, in fact, as mentioned earlier, we’ve become close friends with many of the people  who follow our shows.

Q. Does your pricing change during popular seasons? A.  Our pricing is affected somewhat by season, but it has much more to do with the specifics of each gig, such as providing sound/lights,  covering travel and accommodations expenses, etc.

E5C4P3 was formed in June of 1993. From that year through 1999 E5C4P3 traveled nationwide and paid tribute to one of rock history's most beloved bands performing for tens of thousands of fans. E5C4P3 is still known today as the original and best Journey tribute band to ever exist. In 1999 E5C4P3 went on hiatus and the world was suddenly filled with multiple Journey tributes trying to fill the void that E5C4P3 left behind. In 2008, E5C4P3 was reformed to recreate the magic of a Journey concert like no one else can. The band covers the music with a note-for-note accuracy that is second to none and performs each show with the high-energy excitement of a real Journey concert as well as visually recreating the essence of early 80's Journey! Focusing on the 'Steve Perry era', E5C4P3 covers all the hits from 'Lights' and 'Wheel In The Sky' to 'Separate Ways' and 'Be Good To Yourself' including occasional surprises for all the die-hard Journey fans.
