Here comes your answer right now- Carnival, the "Fun Ships" line, the best party cruising line, like ever!

Carnival has worked hard to overcome the party-get-drunk image. The Carnival alcohol policy enforces strictly the minimum age for drinking 21 years old. Carnival lines also require any passengers under 21 years old to be accompanied by an adult, who is responsible for them and has booked into the same cabin. This adult must also be at least 25. Today Carnival "Fun Ships" attract more and more families with kids as well - because they offer low prices and many tons of fun activities.

Most Carnival vessels are indistinguishable from one other and provide the opportunity to eat and drink oneself into a stupor. Count on the brass and pink marble, twinkly signage and neon tubing, piles of a crowd that please drinks in restaurants named such as Chic, Grand Buffet, and Taste of Nations. Carnival ships boast signature water slides, kid-friendly activities, and most spacious staterooms (including many connecting cabins!).

Top Party Cruise Ships

So, from the world's largest and most famous party cruise lines, Carnival is the number one - no doubt about it! NCL and Royal Caribbean are ranked second equally - but I guess you can doubt this equilibrium. Balance is the most elusive concept.

  • Royal Caribbean ships have multilevel disco nightclubs with celebrity DJ shows.
  • Carnival ships have D's trained by DJ IRIE. Punchliner Comedy Club offers talent show every night.
  • NCL Norwegian ships offer some of the best parties at sea (featuring the White Hot Party).
  • Cunard ships have the largest and most luxurious dancing halls and balls at sea.
  • Disney ships will surprise you with their adults' nighttime offers. They don't have casinos but compensate with bars and clubs.
  • Costa ships' most popular party is the toga party.

How to choose a Party Cruise ship?

If you are among the partying kind of guys and looking for lots of young people and activities well into the night, stick with major lines and larger ships. Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line, and NCL Norwegian Cruise Lines all have some of the world's biggest cruise ships holding more than 5,000 guests. These vessels offer a variety of bars, night clubs, and recreational facilities. They tend to attract younger and more active clientele. The 3- and 4-night voyages also provide more of a party cruise deals, especially on ships departing from Florida cruise ports.

Everybody has his/her own idea about the ideal travel vacation. Some are looking for short breaks to a relaxing place - just for getting away from the big city. Others are considering as the best vacation choice party cruise ships for their so many onboard activities. Special reasons? Top priorities are meetings with other young people, pool parties at day, deck parties in the evenings, dance parties into the wee hours - of each night!

Top 3 best party cruise ships

The following are a very special "party cruise ships" with a most specific party fun atmosphere, so you should consider:

  • Carnival Elation is not the largest ship on the seas, but she has a reputation for being one of the most fun. This based in New Orleans cruise ship makes 4-night Mexico voyages to Yucatan Peninsula, with much sea time for enjoying the fun on board. If you choose to sail on the Carnival Elation ship, be sure to find more than a dozen lounges and bars, everything from a sports bar to piano bars, full disco and a comedy club, a basketball court and a karaoke lounge.
  • NCL Norwegian Epic (the line's largest ship) has twenty bars and lounges (including the Ice Bar, only of its kind at sea), and the beach club (adults-only). Other special fun facilities on this ship are the climbing wall, an 8,000 ft2 (743 m2) fitness center, the comedy club "Second City". NCL Epic sails on 7-night weekly Caribbean voyages from Miami.
  • Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas ( world's largest passenger ships EVER ) offer something (or should I say everything?) for everyone. These mega-liners invite party cruise enthusiasts with dozens of lounges, bars, restaurants (including the well-known Rita’s Cantina with its margaritas). Other amenities include the "Prohibition Era" themed parties on each sailing. Among "best party" facilities are the skating rink, the 3D-movie theater, and the two-level dance club.

In addition to the numerous party cruises with tons of onboard activities, major lines also provide different shore excursions that are specially designed to add more flavor to the cruising party experiences after you depart the ship. Beach barbecue parties and glass-bottom boat cruise party tours are among these. A few lines also schedule spring break party cruises for students.

12 best Christmas cruises for 2024 and 2025

Kristy Tolley

It's the most wonderful time of the year ... to go on a cruise.

Trade the glow of a Christmas tree in your living room with the warmth of the sand and the sun on a holiday cruise. Skip the mulled wine on your stovetop for some of the world's best at a European Christmas market.

Christmas cruises can level up your holiday celebrations — and are an ideal opportunity to escape the conventional holiday celebrations in place of an adventure.

On a holiday cruise, you can leave the cooking, cleaning and decorating to the pros and simply enjoy time with your family. Christmas and New Year's cruises can also be good options for people trying to avoid the crush of relatives or who don't have family but still want to spend the holiday surrounded by other people and festive cheer.

Winter cruises feature holiday-themed activities for all ages, special feasts that capture the magic of the holiday season and port calls at destinations that let you enjoy the holiday spirit without shivering from frigid temperatures.

It's never too early to plan your holiday getaway, especially as these cruises are among the quickest to sell out. Here are the best Christmas and New Year's cruises still available in 2024 and holiday sailings in 2025 to book now, as well as some useful tips about holiday cruise travel.

Holiday cruise tips

cruise party december

Before you book, keep in mind a few key facts about Christmas cruises.

Rates will be high

Expect cruise fares to be among the highest of the year during the holiday weeks as demand increases.

The best prices will be for early bookings; you likely won't find any last-minute discounts. If you do, they might be on windowless inside cabins or guarantee cabins , where the cruise line picks your room location.

Sailings will sell out

Holiday sailings sell out earlier than other itineraries, as people plan their holiday vacations months in advance. Suites and special cabins (family, spa and solo rooms and so forth) book up the fastest.

Consider booking your holiday cruise as early as possible, as the December sailings often fill up a year in advance .

Consider your own decorations

The crew will decorate public areas on board, but passengers often go all-out decorating their doors and cabins for the holidays.

Magnetic doors on cabins are blank canvases for the imagination. You'll find stateroom doors on Christmas cruises covered in wrapping paper, adorned with garlands or dotted with holiday-themed images.

It's best to double-check with your cruise line before attaching anything to your door or in your cabin, as rules and regulations differ per line. If you're not creative, check if your cruise line offers cabin decoration packages for preorder prior to your sailing.

Specialty dining is not advised on the actual holiday

Most of the specialty dining restaurants on major cruise lines have set menus that do not change for the holidays.

Your best bet for traditional holiday dinner options (think roast turkey, smoked ham, mashed potatoes and gravy) will come from the main, included dining options on board. It can't hurt to ask if any extra-fee restaurants are doing a Christmas or New Year's menu if you're looking for a more intimate holiday meal.

Expect holiday hours in port

Most cruise ships will plan for Christmas to be a sea day, but if you're in port on Dec. 25 (or on Boxing Day, as many islands celebrate the day after), expect shops, restaurants and attractions to have modified hours or be closed.

Onboard services won't stop, so if all your top lunch spots in port are closed, you're always guaranteed a hot meal on the ship.

Consider a holiday bonus for the crew

Cruise ship crew members go beyond the standard service on all lines for the holidays, whether it's a kind note wishing you well, a Champagne toast for New Year's or a fanciful towel creation.

They can't be at home celebrating with their families because they're working hard to make your holiday special. While gratuities are often included in your fare or added automatically to your final bill, consider tipping extra on a Christmas cruise. The hardworking staff will appreciate your extra generosity during the holiday season.

Best Christmas cruises for 2024

If you're on the hunt for the ideal holiday getaway, consider these Christmas cruises for this year's holiday vacation. (Note: These sailings had availability at the time of writing, but prices may change or ships sell out at any time.)

The Ultimate Guide To Cruise Ship Theme Parties

Steps to Planning for Cruise Ship Theme Parties

To make the most of cruise ship theme parties, it’s important to plan ahead and be prepared. Here are some steps to help you get ready for the festivities.

Understanding Theme Party Schedule

Check the cruise ship’s daily newsletter or online portal to find out the schedule of theme parties during your voyage. Note down the dates, times, and themes of each party. This will help you plan your outfits and activities accordingly.

Planning Your Outfits

Once you know the themes of the parties, start brainstorming ideas for your outfits. Research online for inspiration and get creative with your costume choices. Make sure to pack all the necessary items, including accessories and props, to fully immerse yourself in the theme.

Participating in Activities

Take part in the activities and games organized during the theme parties. Whether it’s a dance-off, trivia quiz, or a talent show, these activities are designed to engage passengers and add to the overall fun and entertainment. Don’t be shy and join in the excitement – you might even win a prize or make new friends along the way.

How to Choose A Suitable Outfit for A Theme Party

Choosing the right outfit for a cruise ship theme party is crucial to fully enjoy and participate in the festivities. Here are some tips to help you select the perfect attire for any theme party.

Adhering to Theme and Dress Code

Make sure your outfit aligns with the theme of the party. For example, if it’s a Hawaiian Luau party, opt for a floral shirt or a grass skirt. Also, check if there are any specific dress code requirements for the party. Some parties may have formal or semi-formal dress codes, while others may require more casual or costume-like attire.

Comfortable and Appropriate Clothing

While it’s important to dress according to the theme, always prioritize comfort and appropriateness. Consider the weather, the type of activities involved, and the comfort level of your outfit. You don’t want to be in an uncomfortable costume all night or risk being underdressed in inappropriate clothing.

Accessorizing for a Theme Party

Accessories can take your theme party outfit to the next level. Choose accessories that complement your costume and enhance the overall look. Wigs, hats, jewelry, and props can add that extra touch of authenticity and fun to your ensemble. However, make sure your accessories are safe and won’t obstruct movement or cause any inconvenience during the party.

Customizing Your Cruise Experience with Theme Parties

Cruise lines often offer passengers the chance to participate in theme party planning and provide valuable input for future parties. Here are some ways you can get involved and contribute to the customization of your cruise experience.

Participating in Theme Party Planning

Some cruise lines invite passengers to join focus groups or provide feedback on potential theme party ideas. Take advantage of these opportunities and share your thoughts and suggestions. Your input can help shape the future of theme parties and ensure that they align with the preferences and expectations of passengers.

Contributing Ideas for Future Parties

If you have unique and creative ideas for theme parties, don’t hesitate to share them with the cruise line. Write to them, participate in online forums, or submit suggestions through onboard feedback forms. Cruise lines are often open to new ideas and appreciate input from passengers. Your ideas could inspire exciting and innovative theme parties that enhance the overall cruise experience for everyone.

Sharing Experiences and Suggestions

After participating in a theme party, share your experiences and suggestions with the cruise line or fellow passengers. Write reviews, share photos on social media, or participate in online forums dedicated to cruise experiences. By sharing your thoughts and recommendations, you can help others make informed decisions and create a community of cruisers who can exchange ideas and tips for future theme parties.

Troubleshooting Common Theme Party Issues

While cruise ship theme parties are generally enjoyable, issues can arise that may require troubleshooting. Here are some common problems and their solutions:

Dealing with Unplanned Situations

In the event of a sudden change in schedule or cancellation of a theme party, stay calm and flexible. Cruise lines may have valid reasons for making changes, such as weather conditions or technical difficulties. Look for alternative activities or parties that are still taking place and embrace the opportunity to try something different. Remember, the cruise line’s priority is to ensure the safety and satisfaction of passengers.

Addressing Dress Code Difficulties

If you encounter difficulties with the dress code for a theme party, seek assistance from the cruise ship’s staff. They can provide guidance on appropriate attire or offer alternatives if you don’t have the necessary clothing. It’s important to respect the dress code to maintain the integrity of the theme party and create a cohesive and enjoyable atmosphere for all attendees.

Solving Socialization Concerns at Parties

If you’re feeling apprehensive about socializing at theme parties, remember that most passengers are in the same boat. Start by observing what others are doing, join group activities or games, or strike up conversations with people who seem friendly or approachable. Chances are, many fellow cruisers are also looking to make connections and have a good time. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and enjoy the party to the fullest.

In conclusion, cruise ship theme parties are a fantastic way to enhance your cruise experience and create lasting memories. 12 Themed Cruises You Should Have On Your Radar In 2024

T aking a cruise is an experience unlike anything else. Days at sea on a ship full of entertainment and relaxation make for a fantastic vacation. But what if you want even more from your cruise? A theme might be what's missing. In addition to all the usual cruise experiences, themed cruises allow fans of a particular artist, lifestyle, hobby (or even animal), to celebrate their passion on the high seas with activities, events, surprises, and sometimes special guests.

There are dozens of themed cruises on offer each year, usually hosted by major cruise lines like Norwegian , Carnival, and Royal Caribbean. But don't let their numbers fool you. According to  Business Insider , themed cruises are rapidly climbing in popularity, and some trips are selling out in record time. That means it's important to find your dream-themed cruise and reserve your tickets as early as possible.

Fortunately, even if they're sold out, most themed cruises will let you join a waiting list, so there's still hope! Here are 12 themed cruises that will set sail in 2024 and are well worth boarding, either now or the next time they hit the high seas.

The Emo's Not Dead Cruise

If you truly know it's not a phase, the Emo's Not Dead Cruise is perfect for you. Gather with fellow emo fans for four days (and nights) of concerts, activities, and even a private party at Great Stirrup Kay in the Bahamas. Over a dozen bands will perform, including Yellowcard, Senses Fail, and Armor for Sleep. Alongside themed activities like a masquerade ball, cruisegoers can also enjoy surprisingly cheerful activities like a bellyflop competition in the ship's pool.

The first Emo's Not Dead cruise was in 2022. Cruisegoer and emo fan TheReelChris shared highlights on  YouTube , calling it "EPIC." Fans in the comments section agree, with Schecterplayer92 adding, "This was one of the best experiences of my life." With a killer lineup and entertaining activities scheduled, it seems like Emo's Not Dead 2024 will also be a rad experience. The cruise will be hosted on the Norwegian Pearl, leaving from Miami on February 26 and returning on March 1, 2024. But what would an emo-related cruise be without a little sadness? Unfortunately, the cruise is already sold out. If you're interested, you can  sign up for the waiting list  and hope.

Meow Meow Cruise

Some of us know that no matter how great a vacation might be, cats would make it even better. Meow Meow Cruise has solved that problem. While guests unfortunately aren't allowed to bring their own furry friends aboard Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady, the four-day cruise will give them their feline fix in plenty of other ways.

Activities include cat-themed trivia and a scavenger hunt. But the best part may be communing with fellow cat people (many of whom stroll around the ship wearing cat ears). You'll also be able to mingle with real cats -- one of 2024's ports of call is Key West, where you'll find the Ernest Hemingway Home & Museum and its community of about 60 friendly polydactyl kitties, many of them descended from one of the author's own pets.

It's hard to find reviews for Meow Meow Cruise, but the fact that this themed cruise has been going on annually since 2015 speaks for itself. The 2024 Meow Meow Cruise sets sail from Miami on February 21, with a return date of February 25. Tickets are still available, but to be sure you don't miss out, consider booking right now.

In My Cruise Era

Sure, cruises are great — and cruising is a multi-billion dollar industry — but is anything more popular than Taylor Swift? For those who can't imagine anyone saying "no" to that question, there's no better cruise than In My Cruise Era. While not officially affiliated with Taylor Swift, this themed cruise is a passionate fan homage. Swifties will be able to dress up in their favorite Taylor-inspired looks, exchange friendship bracelets, perform their idol's songs during karaoke sessions, and more. We're also guessing there will be of lots impromptu song breaks throughout the ship from Taylor's extensive catalog.

Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas will host this cruise, which sets sail from Miami on October 21, 2024 -- which, as People Magazine points out, is one day after the Eras Tour will be in the city. Fans lucky enough to attend the concert can continue their Taylor euphoria for four more days on the high seas. Since this is a new themed cruise, there aren't any reviews, but based on the positive fan vibes from Eras Tour concerts and movie viewings, among other events, we're guessing it's going to be a great time for Swifties. Swifties must agree, since the cruise is already sold out. Cancellations do happen, though, so hopeful fans can join the waiting list.  Contact the cruise's organizers to sign up.

Disney's Halloween On The High Seas

Go on just about any cruise-related blog or website and you'll see that Disney Cruise Line's Halloween-themed cruise, officially called Halloween on the High Seas, is a popular favorite. As you probably expect from Disney, this themed cruise is perfect for a family vacation , so it's not too scary. The cruise is hosted on multiple Disney Cruise Line ships, and each one is decorated with the care and attention to detail you'll find in most Disney-related enterprises. The Pumpkin Tree is the highlight of the decor, with pumpkins that eventually appear on its branches and transform into lit and unlit jack o'lanterns.

Halloween on the High Seas also features Halloween activities (including a trick-or-treating night) and exclusive Halloween-themed desserts. Disney cruises in general are known for their opportunities to meet the studio's beloved characters, and during the Halloween on the High Seas cruises, some of those characters are in costume. Notably, Disney Cruise Line's official site tells us, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Clarabelle Cow will be dressed as the Sanderson Sisters -- who wouldn't want to see that?

This magical mixture of whimsy, fun, and exclusive opportunities is the perfect way to cast a spell on Disney fans of all ages. Luckily, Halloween on the High Seas is held during a number of different times in September and October, so you and your family should be able to find a place on board!

The Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruise

Sure, Hallmark Channel Christmas movies might be a little on the cheesy side, but let's be honest: lots of us dream of being in one in real life. You can get a little of the real-life Hallmark movie experience by visiting some of the movies' filming locations , but now there's a way to have an even more immersive experience: The Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruise.

Passengers will get to meet Hallmark Channel movie stars, attend panels and photo ops, and get to see a new Hallmark Christmas movie before its world premiere. Maybe best of all, passengers can take part in lots of Hallmark Christmas movie-inspired activities, including tree lighting and cookie decorating -- all while wearing their favorite ugly Christmas sweaters.

2024 is the first year of the Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruise. It was originally intended to be just one cruise, but a second one was added after the first one sold out. As of now, two Hallmark Channel Christmas Cruises are scheduled for 2024. Both go from Miami to the Bahamas and back and last four days in November. ... And both are sold out. But Christmas is a time of miracles, so if a Hallmark Channel Christmas experience on the high seas sounds like your dream come true, sign up for the waiting list as soon as you can!

Hurtigruten Northern Lights Cruises

Themed cruises are often about fandoms and hobbies. But Norway-based cruise line Hurtigruten offers a themed cruise that's about something even bigger: the Northern Lights . There are several Northern Lights-themed cruises out there, including some luxurious options by Cunard. Unfortunately, the Northern Lights aren't always visible, but Hurtigruten stands out by offering a Northern Lights Promise for cruises scheduled between September 26 and March 31 and lasting longer than 11 days. If the Northern Lights aren't visible during your cruise, they'll give you another one. So if you're serious about seeing the Aurora Borealis, this is the company to choose.

The Northern Lights are the focus of Hurtigruten's eponymous cruises, but there are also other things to do on board, including scientific lectures and photography lessons. There are excursions, too -- notably a dog sledding option. Passengers who've taken one of Hurtigruten's cruises unanimously praise the stunning fjords and landscapes you can admire from the ship and during excursions, not to mention their experiences of seeing the Northern Lights. Some warn that the ships aren't as luxurious or modern as many other cruise ships, primarily because Hurtigruten's ships are also functional vessels intended to transport and deliver mail to various points on the Norwegian coast. Still,  Cruise Critic reviewers like cmolaison praise the friendly crew, the surprising level of comfort, and the "stunning vistas" you'll see, saying he and his family "highly recommend" taking a Hurtigruten cruise.

Cruise & Crop Crafting Cruises

If the perfect vacation for you is a combination of R&R and crafting, you're in luck! There are several crafting-themed cruises. One of the most popular is organized by Cruise & Crop, with ships around the world hosting different crafting- and arts-themed trips. This makes them the most accessible themed cruises on our list, with different price ranges, departure points, itineraries, and ports of call. One thing all crafting cruises have in common, though, is groups of like-minded people exploring their creativity amid the other joys of cruising.

For instance, one of Crop & Cruise's 2024 offerings is a Mexican Riviera cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, featuring scrapbooking and other papercraft classes taught by artist Barb Warne. The ship departs from Los Angeles on April 19, returning April 26. Many Cruise & Crop cruises sell out quickly, so if this idea has sparked both your wanderlust and your creativity, be sure to check their list of 2024 cruises and reserve as soon as you can.

Star Trek: The Cruise

For seven days and nights every year, thousands of Star Trek fans gather to be a part of a fandom extravaganza at sea. Star Trek: The Cruise is an experience that features celebrities aboard (2024's guests include LeVar Burton and Wil Wheaton, among many others), costume and cosplay events, and lots of fun activities.

But what makes Star Trek: The Cruise truly unique is that audience participation is very much encouraged. Passengers and celebrity guests are all considered the crew of one great, big, intergalactic vessel. Passengers get to interact with the guest stars in events like karaoke battles, and stars share parts of their earthly lives with Q&A sessions and even glimpses at other projects they may be involved in.

The first Star Trek: The Cruise was held in 2017 and since then it's been a fan favorite. Star Wars and cruising aficionado Aaron Bossig writes on  Trek Movie.com that many fans go on the cruise every year, and proudly wear t-shirts from the previous ones. He calls Star Trek: The Cruise "an extra special convention experience." 2024's edition will be held on the Mariner of the Seas, departing from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on February 22 and returning on February 29.

Literature Festival At Sea

Once a year, aboard the legendary Queen Mary 2, passengers can mingle with writers, poets, journalists, and critics in a full-blown literary festival in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Literature Festival at Sea invites writers in all genres to host round table discussions, participate in Q&As revolving around their work and areas of expertise, host workshops, and converse with passengers.

Whether passengers want to participate as much as possible or just attend a few events, the Festival seems to be an excellent addition to a typical Queen Mary 2 voyage. On TripAdvisor , passenger Artemis C writes of her experience at a previous Literature Festival at Sea that "the whole week was a joy".

2024's lineup features crime novelists, journalists, historians, and more, for what's sure to be a fascinating week of discussion and discovery. If you'd like to combine an elegant transatlantic cruise and a literary experience, 2024's Literature Festival at Sea will take place from November 13-20, departing from Southampton, U.K., and arriving in New York. Cunard has also launched an Australian Literature Festival at Sea, scheduled from December 11-16, 2024, on the Queen Elizabeth, which departs from and returns to Sydney.

Chefs Making Waves

Many cruise lines are proud of their food offerings. Some cruises feature dishes created by world-famous chefs, and others even host food and wine festivals. But no culinary cruise event seems quite as, well, fun, as Chefs Making Waves. This culinary-themed cruise will set sail for the first time in 2024. Onboard will be a number of beloved celebrity chefs, including Anne Burrell and the Cake Boss himself, Buddy Valastro. Cooking demos and, of course, food tastings of all kinds (including sit-down meals, desserts, and street food) are on the menu. Best of all, Chefs Making Waves is an all-inclusive cruise, so everyone can eat and drink without having to pay extra!

There will be all of the usual cruise-related fun, from swimming to excursions, to help you work up an appetite. There will also be unique games, with some of the chefs participating in events like bingo and a celebrity chef sing-off. If this sounds like an awesome cruise, you're not the only one who feels that way. Chefs Making Waves will take place from March 25-29, departing from Miami with excursions in Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau, Bahamas ... and it's already sold out. But you can still  sign up for the waiting list . With a little luck, you'll be able to enjoy this delicious, themed cruise experience.

Soul Train Cruise

Imagine a festival with a lineup featuring some of the best soul and R&B acts of all time. Now imagine it's on a relaxing cruise ship. This dream is actually reality -- it's called the Soul Train Cruise. The popular themed cruise will be celebrating its 11th year in 2024 and the lineup is on fire. Dozens of groups and artists will perform, including The Temptations, Boyz II Men, and En Vogue. Passengers can also learn how to dance like people did back in the old school days of Soul Train's TV show, with lessons from some of the show's actual dancers. There will also be wine tastings, Q&A's, comedy shows, and a lot more.

With all of this on offer, it's no surprise that the Soul Train Cruise is sold out. But sign up on the waiting list and keep your calendar free from January 27-February 3, and you may get lucky. If you do, the cruise leaves from Fort Lauderdale, with ports of call in Tortola (British Virgin Islands) and St. Maarten.

The Gothic Cruise

The Gothic Cruise is an annual event held on an ordinary cruise ship. Goths mingle with "norms" but have their own private events on board, mostly DJ sets and concerts. There's also a masquerade ball, with Goths decked out in their finest Victorian-style garb ... as long as it meets ship safety requirements, that is. The cruise's website specifies that simulated weapons aren't allowed and notes that hoop skirts are fine for the ball but not in the ship's dining areas, "due to the close proximity of the tables". And yet, the Goth community thrives on these cruises -- and even gains norm fans along the way.

In a Porthole Magazine article about the Gothic Cruise, longtime attendee Spike Pittman says that many mainstream passengers are wary of the Goths at first, "But by the end they're begging to get into our private events." Some even book their future cruises to coincide with the Gothic Cruise, even if they don't plan on attending every event.

The Gothic Cruise has been held since 1989. Cruising doesn't seem very Goth, but in the end, the article points out, it comes down to what all themed cruises offer: a sense of community (in this case, one that often stays up all night and sleeps during the day). If this moves your little black heart, the 2024 Gothic Cruise will be held on the Norwegian Escape (but book through the Gothic Cruise's website for private event access), departing from Orlando on March 2, and returning March 9.

Billionaire heir Anant Ambani and his fiancée Radhika Merchant are cruising toward their nuptials!

After the couples’ pre-wedding event at the luxurious Ambani Estate in Gujarat, India in March, they are next scheduled to embark on a lavish cruise throughout Europe, according to The Sunday Times .

The cruise ship set sail on Wednesday, May 29 from Palermo, Italy with 800 guests and 600 staff onboard, the Times and The Sun reported. It will be making several stops along several high-profile European cities like Rome, Cannes, France and Portofino, Italy, per the Times .

The cruises’ theme is reportedly “La vita è un viaggio” (life is a voyage), the outlet reported. This theme can be found throughout the Indian, Italian and French cuisines served on board and the planned events, which include a masquerade party and a Roman toga party.

A source told the Times that the guests joining Ambani and Merchant, both 29, “aren’t intimate friends.” The source also described the event as a “command performance,” though they added that “no one would turn down an invitation.”

One musician who reportedly accepted an invitation to take part in the pre-wedding celebration is Katy Perry . The Sun reported that the “Electric” singer, 39, was en route to perform at the couple’s masquerade ball in Cannes on Friday.

The source noted that the cruise will dock in the city in Southern France and then the guests will head to an estate worth “£40 million” ($50.9 million) for the “big bash.”

“The party itself will only last five hours but Katy will headline it, with a DJ also being flown in as part of the top-tier entertainment,” the source told the outlet. “Afterwards, guests will watch a huge fireworks display from a small armada of ships waiting in the Bay of Cannes.”

“When they say there’s been no expense spared, they really mean it,” the source added.

The musician will likely see a huge payout from the event as well. Rihanna , who sang several of her hits at the couple’s first pre-wedding event, was paid £5 million or ($6.3 million) for her performance, according to Forbes .

Radhika Merchant, the bride-to-be, is reportedly wearing a custom-made Grace Ling Couture piece. The concept of a Galactic Princess inspires this stunning outfit. The outfit is crafted using Aerospace Aluminium Technology, adding a futuristic touch to traditional elegance. To maintain the exclusivity and privacy of the event, a strict no-phone policy will be enforced on the cruise. This measure will ensure that the celebrations remain intimate and free from media intrusion.

Ambani Wedding: Here’s the complete pre-wedding itinerary for the guests

The festivities will begin on May 29 with a welcome lunch on the cruise. It will be followed by an evening gala-themed ‘Starry Night,’ where guests are expected to dress in their finest Western formals. On May 30, the theme shifts to ‘Roman Holiday’ with a day trip to Rome. Guests will don chic tourist attire, followed by a Greco-Roman toga party that evening.

May 31 will celebrate ‘V Turns One Under the Sun.’ This event will mark the first birthday of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta’s daughter, Veda. The day will also feature a glamorous masquerade ball in Cannes. Not just limited to Bollywood, the guest list also features notable figures from sports and business. Cricket icon MS Dhoni has been seen en route to the event. Much like the first pre-wedding celebrations at Jamnagar, this one also hints at the diverse and illustrious crowd that will be in attendance.

Additionally, an extravagant menu awaits the guests, featuring a variety of cuisines, including Parsi, Thai, Mexican, and Japanese dishes. The diverse culinary offerings are designed to cater to the sophisticated palates of the guests.

The pre-wedding celebrations are just a prelude to the grand wedding set for July 2024. The Ambani family, known for their extravagant celebrations, has once again raised the bar with this meticulously planned event. The luxurious cruise, the themed parties, and the illustrious guest list all contribute to what promises to be an unforgettable celebration. The celebration of love, life, and friendship amidst the picturesque backdrop of Europe will undoubtedly be an event to remember.

“I’m very glad to be back in my heels,” Victoria Beckham said in a preview interview while introducing her favorite cruise collection to date.

The British designer broke her foot at the gym a few months ago but is now preparing to strut and dance into the Christmas party season with razor sharp tailoring, fluid slipdresses, Grecian draping and seductive lace.

For her cruise lineup, Beckham was thinking about the season and the questions her customers are asking themselves — the same questions she finds herself pondering too.

“For me, during that time of the year, I want to wear a tuxedo if I’m going to a holiday party,” said Beckham, explaining that she designs for herself and the women who shop at her brand.

She turned the classic white dress shirt into a bib with a collar that unveiled a slither of skin modeled by Libby Bennett, striking a resemblance to the androgynous models used in Helmut Newton ’s work.

Beckham added features of gentleman’s loungewear to the tailoring, the lapel in a silk fabric and loose ties around the waist as a nod to a robe.

“Prior to the beginning of my brand, I really had a strong point of view [on color],” Beckham said.

Those same hues on the clothes are being translated onto the handbags, including an evening clutch, a crossbody and large tote. The handbag arm of the business has been recently relaunched with a whole new team and a rigorous strategy.

“The bags have done phenomenally well, especially the bag with the B frame that are also on the belts,” Beckham said.

The collection also touched on elements of lingerie with open cut backs, bare shoulders and sheer black lace that made for a classic Christmas party dress.

Earlier this month, the designer’s brand made its Met Gala debut as “Bridgerton” actor Phoebe Dynevor wore one of her delicate designs inspired by Beckham’s 50th wedding dress.

“It’s about balance — it’s about the dress being elegant, but also very sexy at the same time,” she explained, detailing that the dress was made in a week and that, up until now, having one of her designs represented at the Met Gala was more of a dream than a reality.

The Ambanis are continuing their glitzy prewedding celebrations with another set of festivities. Anant Ambani, the son of India's richest person, Mukesh Ambani, and his fiancée, Radhika Merchant, threw a weekendlong affair in March to commemorate their upcoming wedding. They are now said to be embarking on a luxury cruise next week, which is scheduled to set sail from Italy to the south of France with about 800 guests and 600 staff, according to the Deccan Chronicle . Bollywood stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt are expected to join them on the cruise, the report said.

The couple held lavish star-studded parties in March as part of the festivities, with Rihanna performing. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan , the Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates, and Ivanka Trump also came out for the events.
