The Mexican War Streets House & Garden Tour is the oldest and finest house tour in the city of Pittsburgh. During the 47 th annual event, held from 11:00 am-5:00 pm on Sunday, September 11 th , visitors will be treated to a leisurely, self-guided tour of homes and gardens throughout our historic neighborhood on Pittsburgh’s Northside.

Homes on tour represent beautiful restorations and some that offer a glimpse behind the effort that goes into a work-in-progress. Every home is unique and expresses each homeowner’s personal taste and style. The House Tour will also showcase a midway of vendors and mobile eateries.

Purchase tickets here . Advance tickets are $18 per person, or $15 per person if you buy blocks of 10 or more tickets. Tickets are $20 per person on Tour Day at the ticket booth on Monterey Street at W North Avenue. See you there!

Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas House Tour

Allegheny West will be hosting this year’s Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas House Tour on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 . The tour features six restored Victorian homes plus the historic Calvary United Methodist Church , famous for its beautiful Louis Tiffany stained glass windows, all decorated to celebrate a Nineteenth Century Christmas.

These personally guided tours afford a rare opportunity to glimpse a by-gone era and experience the warmth of the season in a truly old-fashioned style. Most homes in Allegheny West are over 100 years old and Victorian in architectural style. Lavishly decorated for the holidays, they recall the late 19th Century birth of the traditional American Christmas: elaborately decorated mantels, towering Christmas trees and pine, holly and mistletoe on stairs and chandeliers.Tour guides will explain Victorian holiday traditions and provide the history of Allegheny West and its famous Nineteenth Century residents.

At the end of your tour, you can visit one of the world’s largest toy train museums – a private collection of hundreds of colorful train sets from the early 20th century, with many of them rolling through enchanting miniature villages. There is an additional charge for the train museum.

In addition to viewing Victorian homes, tour goers are given the chance to see the Louis Comfort Tiffany windows featured at Calvary United Methodist Church. The windows were installed in 1895 and are among the largest Tiffany windows in the world.
