You can be sure to have an amazing experience with Wilderness Travel

I have traveled with several well known active travel companies over the years and Wilderness Travel is at the top of my list of favorites. Great itineraries, great guides, great everything! They go that extra mile to make these ‘trips of a lifetime’ an amazing experience.

Love this company!

Love this company! It's one of the few businesses left where you can actually talk to a real live person! Just returned from their Croatia Istria trip. It was a wonderful balance of cultural sights, hikes, and culinary offerings. Our leaders - Nena and Zuzana - were top-notch, ever calm, informative, and accommodating. They were very tuned into the group; able to make adjustments along the way, such as amending hikes to take advantage of more shade during a heat wave. Accommodations were first rate, particularly the Alhambra. Loved all the opportunities to experience regional specialties such as fresh truffles, fish, olive oil, and wine in picturesque settings. My only suggestion for anyone wanting to take this trip - make sure to take some extra days in Slovenia! Hats off to Wilderness Travel for yet another well-curated itinerary and live guidance throughout!

Norway is Amazing!

My experience was great because everything was pretty much perfect. We stayed in fantastic hotels, each with its own uniqueness and features. We had many fantastic meals paired with fantastic wine. Our hikes were amazing and gave us a feel for the landscape and culture of the area. They also always included fantastic views!! Our guides were outstanding, as usual, for Wilderness Travel. They were professional at all times and knew how to connect with each member of the trip. They were also willing to share a bit about themselves which adds to the experience. Norway is an amazing country and we were given a taste of what makes it so. The scenery, the people, the food, and the culture will stay with me for a long, long time.

Turkey for a 50th birthday!

I went to Turkey this summer for a 50th birthday celebration with friends, and it far exceeded my expectations! Being a bucket list destination, I was expecting a high level of quality, and Wilderness Travel delivered. From the excellent guiding, the luxury of our gulet boat, the food of course, and the moment of truth...the hot air balloon experience in Cappadocia! Wilderness uses the best services in all areas, and I felt safe, cared for, and very much part of the process of daily activities. I highly recommend a Private Journey through WT, especially if you aren't a "group traveler" and want more control over your itinerary.

Safari of a lifetime!

A group of us went on a Tanzania safari this month, beginning in Arusha, then to Tarangire National Park, and the north Serengeti National Park… 10 days, and what an incredible trip. I watched YouTube safari videos for the last year, anticipating what it would be like. I saw things like “bring a water bottle with a filter in it”, “bring bars and snacks for the early game drives”, “bring a beanie and gloves”, etc. Oh no. NO NO NO. This trip was not like the YouTube videos. The lodges / camps we stayed in are all privately-owned, and exquisite. Coffee and cookies brought to our tent patios at 6am while it’s still dark, and we were getting ready for the morning game drive. Complete lovely FULL breakfast in the main dining area (family style) prior to departing for the morning. Beautiful full lunch either back at camp, or under a tree while still out on the game drive… unlimited PURIFIED water at camps, in our tents, as well as in all Toyota Land Cruisers… unlimited drinks in coolers while on game drives. Guides who were the most amazing, knowledgeable gentlemen, who you could not throw out a question they could not answer, whether it was about an animal, a custom, politics, history, etc. Each return from a game drive is met with all the staff, and cold wash cloths, and champagne/cocktails/drinks by the fire pit… sometimes with animals right there in the camp. The staff members at the lodges were INCREDIBLE! So hospitable, polite, friendly, and SO hard-working young men, they were a real treat to be around. They tried so hard to even remember our names, which was so nice. The food at each lodge, AMAZING! 10 days of 3 different lodges/camps, with breakfasts, lunches, dinners, that were all completely different, and completely fabulous! These were multi-course meals, fresh fruit, and some wonderful dessert! The chefs are amazing. Then being escorted back to our tents each evening (mandatory when it’s dark), our beds were turned down, and ready for a lovely night (maybe hearing animals), to do it again the next day! They completely blew the YouTube videos out of the water. Pampered safari living was truly a dream come true. A trip of a lifetime. Thank you Wilderness Travel!

Wilderness Travel: Great! But Always Room for Improvement

We've taken five trips with Wilderness Travel (WT). That in itself is a review and recommendation. WT is great! But there's always room for improvement. Consider adding/planning more customized trips for those who want more flexibility than what is offered on fixed itineraries; eg. Raja Ampat offers nothing but snorkeling for 12 days. Must be other things to see and do. Trip leaders can make or break a trip. Keys to successful leadership are a passion for the place and subject matter with an equal measure of love for sharing it with the people/group on the trip. Some have it; others aren't as good at connecting with the people. Keep looking for great leaders and winnow out the ones that don't have their hearts in it.

Reply from Wilderness Travel

Thank you so much for your review, Spencer! At Wilderness Travel we try to set a very high bar for ourselves, and feedback like yours helps us continue to push that bar higher. Your suggestion to add more customizable trips is a great one. We are constantly expanding our Private Journey collection where the trip, activities, and accommodations can be customized to meet the interests of the private group. When logistics allow, we are also adding more and more hiking trips where we are able to offer two daily options (longer and shorter hikes). We could not agree more about the importance of our Trip Leaders to our adventures! When people ask what sets our trips apart, we always start by speaking about our Trip Leaders, who are an incredible group of individuals. We have very high standards for the leaders we hire, and as you mentioned—we look not only for leaders with deep subject matter expertise, but also those who are also truly passionate about sharing their country and knowledge with our travelers. Thank you again for taking the time to give us such thoughtful feedback and helping us continue to strive for excellence! We appreciate it and hope to welcome you on trip #6 soon!

Patagonia, Iguazu, Buenos Airles

We recently enjoyed a 3 week trip to Argentina & Chile. Two weeks was arranged through Wilderness Travel. Our focal point was Patagonia and the hotels, transfers and guides were very good. Patagonia was spectacular and Wilderness guided some good decisions, such as staying at Estancia Christina for 2 nights instead of one. The hotels were uniformly high quality. One part of the Patagonia hiking that could be improved is having a variety of hiking options. Our first day hike was more ambitious than some members of our foursome was expecting. We also did a two day trip to Iguazu Falls. We had the most outstanding guide of the entire trip. This is someone who loves sharing what he is most passionate about, and is a true naturalist. We had multiple trips to Buenos Aires since it's the transporation hub and no matter where your ultimate destination is you are always going back through Buenos Aires. The city is so spread out it's hard to get a sense of it if you are only there for one or two days.

Tanzania: The Great Migration Safari with Wilderness Travel was amazing!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Tanzania: The Great Migration Safari with Wilderness Travel, and it was nothing short of extraordinary! From start to finish, this trip was a seamless blend of adventure, luxury, and breathtaking natural beauty. The safari itself was a dream come true. Witnessing the Great Migration in action was like stepping into a nature documentary but with the added thrill of being right there in the midst of it. The sheer scale of the migration, with thousands of wildebeest and zebras stretching as far as the eye can see, was awe-inspiring. Wilderness Travel's attention to detail was impeccable. Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife, offering insights and stories that enriched the experience tremendously. Their expertise made every game drive informative and exciting. The accommodations were luxurious and comfortable, providing a perfect balance of comfort and immersion in the wild. Each tented camp was thoughtfully situated to maximize our viewing opportunities from our rooms, and the service was exceptional--every meal was absolutely incredible! Additionally, the itinerary was expertly crafted to ensure we witnessed the most spectacular sights while also giving us ample time to soak in the beauty of Tanzania. Every day brought everything from incredible game drives to serene sunsets over the plains. I cannot recommend this safari enough for anyone looking to experience one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles. Wilderness Travel has truly set the bar high, and this trip will be etched in my memory forever. If you have the chance to go, don't hesitate--it's a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that is worth every penny!

All of the off ship tours were extra & this was an expensive trip to begin with. Have been on other trips where only exceptional tours are extra. The ship itself & all the people on it were wonderful.

Thank you, Elaine, for your feedback. We are so glad that you enjoyed your experience on our recent Special Event: Total Solar Eclipse Cruise. Please note that almost all of our Wilderness Travel small ship adventures include shore activities at no additional cost. However, for this particular departure, we were subject to the procedures of the cruise company itself, which did not include extra excursions in their costs. We completely understand your points above and do appreciate your reply. Overall, we felt that this particular boat was the best choice for our plans in the region, and we're so glad that you enjoyed the ship and those onboard. We hope to welcome you to another Wilderness Travel trip in the near future!

Trip exceeded all expectation!

The Indochine Tour not only met our expectations but far exceeded them. Our guide, Matthew, was extremely knowledgeable and you could tell he loved what he was doing, and the local guides shared stories of their respective countries and provided us with experiences only availed to smaller groups (there were 7 of us). This was our second trip with Wilderness Travel and will certainly not be the last. Love Wilderness Travel! And the accommodations were first rate!!

Best way to see Africa imaginable

We have traveled extensively and at all levels in Africa, and despite having done high end tent camping safaris previously the one we experienced with WT is the one we'll remember. You really couldn't imagine anything more beautifully organized, well thought through, and staffed by the most knowledgeable and genuinely warm guides we have ever had the pleasure to meet. Five stars isn't enough. WT is in a class by itself.

Date of experience : May 01, 2019

That is wonderful to hear, Mark. Thank you so much for your feedback. We are thrilled we could show you Africa through our eyes :)

I want to express my sincere…

I want to express my sincere disappointment and displeasure with our Wilderness Travel, trip "Magical Madagascar". Let me start by saying that my wife and I have travel extensively. We have been to Africa, South America, Indonesia, French Polynesia, and many other locations. Never have we encountered anything like Madagascar. Madagascar is a country completely devoid of infrastructure. The roads we travelled in the north and south were horrifying. We were subjected to gut wrenching, bone jarring, reverberating rides, on roads that had potholes that could swallow entire vehicles. These rides ruined this vacation for not only for me and my wife , but also for everyone in our travel group. (Yes, we discussed this among ourselves, repeatedly) These are not conditions that develop quickly, but occur because of decades of neglect. The omission of such conditions prior to our purchase of your trip is unforgivable. In the north, the ride to Ankarana took 4.5 hours (2.5 hours in itinerary). The ride to Berenty took 4 hours, and the ride to Andasibe took 5 hours (3 hours in itinerary). Because of the durations of these drives, every activity held on these days had to be modified and shortened. This deprived us of significant wildlife viewing time and opportunity. It also created a group of physically and mentally exhausted travelers who never had a minute to rest or relax upon arrival at any location. Additionally, the trip was further complicated by the presence of and elderly couple who were not physically capable of participating in this type of travel. The older gentleman was 84, he was never asked by Wilderness Travel to present medical proof of his fitness to participate. He was unable to walk more than a kilometer without being physically exhausted. He fell three times during the trip and had to be evacuated from one of the hikes by vehicle. This created a problem for the trip leader who had to accompany the couple on every activity and occupy one of the groups guides for every hike. This action caused our entire group to be short changed on every wildlife hike. There were no options for longer hikes or photo oriented hikes, and nearly every hike was shorter than advertised. Seven of the ten of us got some level of gastrointestinal upset. Four were unable to leave their rooms. The sanitary conditions are not safe. Another unforeseen problem with the trip had to do with the Madagascar Airary. We arranged for you to exchange $200 each in advance of our arrival. We attempted to spend it at the airport gift shops in Antananarivo, but found that no shop would accept this Malagasy money. We then tried to exchange it back to US currency in both Madagascar and South Africa, and were informed that no one wants or will exchange their currency. We were stuck with $200 dollars worth of Airary. Again, Wilderness Travel gave us no insight or advice that the monetary system in Madagascar would be so unstable. As you can see from my letter, our trip was anything but "Magical". I hope that moving forward you will stop promoting this adventure to unsuspecting victims. A travel company of your stature should be ashamed of misrepresenting a country that is slipping back into the stone ages as Magical. Shame on you! Shame one me, for being fooled by your lovely brochure.

A Small Group tour that focuses on regions outside the usual cities.

A small group tour where you get to know everyone and learn a lot about the country from the guide. The tours focus on the countryside or more extreme adventures and mostly ignore the usual big-name cities. The guides work hard to make the trip enjoyable for everyone, even when plans change due to weather or other local conditions.

Date of experience : March 23, 2019

Thanks, Keith! We have always aimed for more intimate, "off the beaten path" adventures so we are delighted to hear that.

Hiking in Cornwall: A typically wonderful WT trip.

This Cornwall trip was my third WT trip in the UK and all of them have been first rate. The guides are gems, full of good cheer, incredible local knowledge, and uncommon generosity. Richard Bell designed this trip and has it planned to the finest detail. The schedule is wonderfully mixed, with cultural sessions blended in with the hiking. My wife especially appreciated the fact that we stayed 3-4 nights in each hotel. The coastal scenery is stunning. Our other WT trips were equally well-planned, beautiful and comfortable. We are signed up for two more next year!

Date of experience : September 23, 2019

We are so happy you enjoyed your time traveling with Richard! It is such a treat to see Cornwall through his eyes and we are delighted we were able to share that with the two of you.

We traveled to the Galapagos for a…

We traveled to the Galapagos for a 15-day cruise among the islands aboard the three-masted schooner "Mary Anne" . Everything about the trip was amazing. Wilderness Travel coordinated and arranged all details, which were flawless. They were also helpful in arranging additional stay for us prior to the group arrangements. They were always available to answer questions. Truly excellent!

Date of experience : July 02, 2019

We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your time in the Galapagos! They really are spectacular islands and we've found they are best experienced when you can relax and not worry about the logistics.

Amazing Morocco

Amazing Morocco It was an amazing trip where we were able to see varied geography and cultures from the Medina of Fex to the Sahara Desert to the High Atlas Mountains to the large city of Marrakech and to a seaside town of Essouria. Two highlights for us were riding camels and staying in a tented camp in the Sahara and four-wheel backroading in the High Atlas Mountains. We were also able to see how Berber Nomads lived. The entire trip was so fun and interesting and we had a truly amazing guide, Mohammed. This was definitely a 5-star trip!

Date of experience : May 24, 2019

Mohammed really is a gem, isn't he? We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your time exploring this spectacular country. We hope to have you back for another 5-star adventure in the near future!

We have gone on 3 very diverse trips…

We have gone on 3 very diverse trips with Wilderness travel - a safari, hiking in Patagonia and a cruise to Antarctica via Polar Latitudes. Each was a great experience from the pick up at the airport to the drop off at the very end. All the leaders were experienced, personable, and knowledgeable in their fields. We were treated with courtesy and kindness. Travel was punctual, and we always knew what to expect. The trip planning was easy and the personnel responsive to our emails, texts and phone calls. We won’t think twice about traveling again with Wilderness Travel!

For us quality of experience is only second to safety.

We are committed to providing world-class trekking experiences for our guests that go way above and beyond the mass-produced tours so common today.

The Mt. Rainier Inn trip with Wildland was perfect. The Inn was comfortable; the guide was an expert in his field; the pacing was just right to accommodate all those on the trip; the scenery was ideal. If you can go please do.

Why Join a Guided Hiking or backpacking Tour?

10,000+ people join our guided hiking tours and backpacking trips annually, and there are many reasons so many people make this choice.

Reserve A Trip

Trained Guides

Hiking with an experienced, trained guide helps to maximize the safety and enjoyment of your trekking adventure. This is especially true if your trip is in an unfamiliar area, which guided trips often are.

Everything Included

A specific hiking or backpacking trip may be on your "life list" and you don't want to purchase all the gear and equipment to do a single trip. In this situation going with a guide service where everything is included provides a tremendous benefit.

Knowledge & Learning

Some guests are most interested in learning as much as they can about the area(s) they're hiking through. Guides can bring places to life by sharing stories, knowledge, observations, context and personal passion.

Convenience

We handle all the trip planning and on-the-ground logistics. This service takes the burden of planning almost entirely off your plate. Additionally you can travel light and have everything waiting for you.

Learn from Experts

Some guests are new to the outdoors, backpacking, hiking, and/or camping and prefer to go with experts to learn best practices from professionals. Guided trips are an excellent way to get started.

A Perfect Combination

For most guests it's a combination of some or all of these reasons that they join guided hiking tours and backpacking trips. Whatever your reason is, we're ready to help you create the experience of a lifetime.

Choosing the Right Hiking Trip

Choosing the right trip is a key ingredient for enjoying your hiking vacation. We offer backpacking trips, horse/llama/porter supported hikes, inn-based hiking tours, basecamp hiking tours and day hike tours. For guests looking to challenge themselves and travel deep into the backcountry, a backpacking trip is the best choice. Some people want to explore the backcountry but without heavy backpacks, and for those folks we recommend horse/llama/porter supported trips. Inn-based and basecamp tours are multi-day hiking vacations that showcase the best hikes and highlights of an area and are either inn-based or camping-based, and are great for families, couples, and solo travelers. And, finally, day hikes with an award winning hiking tour company like Wildland are an exceptional way to maximize a short amount of time at one of America’s amazing national parks.

wilderness travel login

When and Where to Hike

For desert hiking destinations like Joshua Tree and Death Valley, the best seasons are spring, fall and winter. In mountain destinations like Yellowstone, Iceland, the Pacific Northwest, the Alps and others, the best seasons to hike are late spring, summer and early fall. Some destinations are great year round, regardless of whether they are in the desert or mountains; examples are Grand Canyon, Sedona, the Smoky Mountains, Yosemite, Yellowstone (ski and snowshoe tours), Peru, and Ecuador. Winter is, generally, the most underrated season for hiking and backpacking tours in many areas, as it’s a spectacular time of year to hike but largely skipped over by many people.

When choosing your next destination, it’s important to consider more than just the time of year. You can call us 7 days a week at 800-715-HIKE (4453) to speak with our Adventure Consultant Team.

Why Wilderness Travel?

The wt difference.

Since our founding in 1978, we’ve remained true to our original objective: to provide artfully executed and delightfully authentic travel experiences for the most discerning of travelers.

We understand that when you choose Wilderness Travel, you are entrusting us with not only your money and time, but also your travel dreams. We take this responsibility extremely seriously.

Travel with the Experts

1 the best trip leaders in the industry.

WT Trip Leaders are simply the best in the business. They may be authors, archaeologists, photographers, or mountaineers, yet all share an extraordinary knowledge of their destinations, and a passion for sharing it with you. Our Leader pages have the bios of these extraordinary travel companions and show the upcoming trips they will be guiding so you can follow them around the world!

2 Over 45 Years of Experience and Local Connections

Our local hosts, vendors, and friends are more than just partners—after more than four decades working closely with them, they are an integral part of our WT family. Finding these local experts and nurturing these intimate relationships in all corners of the world is our greatest strength and its value cannot be overstated.

Our goal on each trip is to make you feel like you have a best friend in the country you’re visiting, someone who knows just what to share and where to take you. Whether it’s joining a Maasai elder for tea in Tanzania or being warmly welcomed by the owners of a private estancia in Patagonia, our local teams give you an “insider’s” access to every destination.

3 The #1 Adventure Travel Company in the World

We’re honored to have been recognized with every major honor in the industry, including awards from Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast, AFAR, National Geographic, Outside, USA Today , and more.

AWARD-WINNING JOURNEYS

4 Sustainable and Meaningful Travel

We are committed to environmentally conscious, locally focused travel, and believe wholeheartedly that our journeys can help preserve the cultures and ecosystems we visit.

We offset all carbon emissions from our land-based trips, are a founding member of the Adventure Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF), and actively support dozens of grassroots organizations across every continent.

5 Artfully Crafted Itinerary Design

It’s not just where we travel, but how we travel that makes our trips unique. The magic of the “how” comes from a meticulously planned and impeccably executed itinerary design, perfectly paced and with the ideal balance of activities.

Our distinctive journeys reveal the culture, cuisine, and history of a destination—and uncover hidden treasures you wouldn’t find on your own. Special access to archaeological sites, sampling a tasting menu with a rising young chef, meeting master craftsmen in a remote village—these experiences make your journey unforgettable.

6 Authentic Accommodations and Local Flavors

Many companies use big, centrally located chain hotels that are easier to book but crowded with tourists. Instead, we put in the extra effort to find boutique, locally owned accommodations and restaurants to immerse you in the spirit of each destination.

Find yourself being welcomed like family in charming chalets in the Alps or dining with a Bhutanese family in their 500-year-old farmhouse. Many of our African safari camps are exclusive for just our groups, and on our mountain treks, you’ll enjoy our celebrated WT camping style, waking each day to a jaw-dropping mountain view and a hot cup of coffee brought to your tent.

7 Personalized Service

From your first phone call, we’ll show you why our rate of repeat travelers is so high. Our Area Specialists will be your single point of contact as you plan and prepare for your journey (no sales call centers here!). They handle all your trip details and are available to answer any questions you may have before you depart.

On arrival, our world-class Trip Leaders and local support staff welcome you and handle all logistics seamlessly. When you’re on a WT adventure, every single detail is taken care of. All you have to do is pack your bags–we’ll take care of the rest so you can relax and savor the moment.

8 Endless Range of Activities, Tailored to Your Interests

With more than 200 Small Group Adventures and Private Journeys in over 80 countries across every continent, we offer a trip for every adventurous spirit—from safaris to expedition cruises to hiking and cultural odysseys.

We offer a range of activity levels, experience types, and on our Private Journeys, you can customize to fit your vision. Browse our website by destination, activity, trip type, or date, then give us a call—we offer the dream trip you’ve been searching for.

9 Small Group Sizes

With an average group size of just 10 travelers on our Small Group Adventures (one of the smallest in the industry), we give you more meaningful experiences with local cultures and more authentic encounters with wildlife. If you already have a small group of your own, enjoy any of our adventures as your own Private Journey!

10 Don’t Take Our Word for It – Hear from Past Travelers

Repeat and referred travelers are the core of our business model and a great source of information about our trips. You can always ask us for references from past travelers who have been on any trip. They are happy to talk to you by phone or email so you can hear their experience directly from them!

Client Testimonials

“Absolutely everything about this trip was perfect: itinerary, food, lodgings, Trip Leaders. A perfect example of why WT will always be our first choice when planning adventures.”

Albuquerque, NM

“WT has once again delivered an amazing trip for all aboard. Great leaders, great guests, and a great experience. This is a complex itinerary and yet there was not a glitch the whole trip,”

Fernandina Beach, FL

“I cannot say enough good things about this trip. Everything was expertly organized, every day was different, I felt extremely well looked after!”

Calgary, Alberta

“The daily choices of spectacular hiking, fabulous gourmet food and wine, comfortable and charming hotels, and our delightful Trip Leaders made it an over-the-top nine days!”

Margaret T.

Holtville, CA

“This was, by far, the best tour I’ve ever taken. My husband and I generally don’t like tour groups or companies, but knew this was the only way to do the Inca Trail. What an incredible surprise for us. This tour was so expertly organized—we felt like royalty. All of your people took great care of us and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The cooks at the campsites were amazing! (My husband is a vegetarian and I was worried—but they served him gourmet vegetarian meals.) I was amazed at what great care they take to make sure the food is safe and that we were sanitized before touching anything. Every single detail was thought through so that I never had to worry about a thing. This was a perfect vacation!”

Miami Beach, FL

“Everyone was so thorough and helpful. It was like being whisked around on a magic carpet. Doors opened, every wish fulfilled, amazing service!”

Montgomery, AL

“Wonderfully planned and executed. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every minute of this fantastic trip—I didn’t want it to end!”

Santa Fe, NM

“Everything was absolutely perfect. Your staff could not possibly have been better.”

Temple Terrace, FL

“This is my third trip through Wilderness Travel. The high quality of service, care, friendliness, trip guides, places to stay, etc. has been consistent on all the trips and each trip has surpassed my expectations!”

Jennifer R.

Fort Lauderdale, FL

“This was without a doubt one of the best trips I’ve taken in my entire life. The professionalism and thoughtfulness that was demonstrated time and time again by the crew and the staff was superlative. An outstanding experience for me and my kids!”

Stamford, CT

“A truly memorable bucket list trip! The entire group of seven of us agreed that it was the best vacation we had ever taken. We were as active as we wanted to be, and we always felt safe.”

Fairport, NY

“You could not have designed a better itinerary. Every day, every lodge, every meal, every experience was (unbelievably) better than the day before. Thank you for making this a phenomenal travel experience that I’ll remember for a lifetime.”

Belle Isle, FL

“The trip design was brilliant. Each day we thought we had captured “the prize” but the next day was even better. How did you do this?”

Washington, DC

“Impeccable itinerary and outstanding implementation. Every day delivered a new ‘oh my’ because of the variety of the scenery and experiences. Thanks, Wilderness Travel!”

Meyersdale, PA

“This was a truly exceptional trip where we felt that we were able to fully experience the Patagonian wilderness but from the relative comfort of some wonderful small hotels and estancias.”

Croton-on-Hudson, NY

“We can depend on Wilderness Travel to offer exceptional trips and great attention to detail, and the quality of the Trip Leaders is unsurpassed.”

“I think this was one of the best hiking trips I have ever taken. I loved the guides, staff, itinerary, food, and the MOUNTAINS! The scenery and weather were spectacular. This was my first trip with Wilderness Travel and I think every aspect of it was well designed and planned out, in every detail.”

Woodstock, VT

“Met my hopes and then some. It was an “experience” ––more than a vacation. We learned a tremendous amount about the culture, Inca history and, of course, the country is beautiful and people are so very nice!”

New York, NY

“The trip was magical and met or exceeded every expectation that we had as experienced travelers. It was one of those experiences that leave you incapable of selecting the best day or best experience. Every day was unique and full of wonder and amazement.”

Medford, OR

“This is the best Galapagos itinerary of any tour company with so many islands visited and such a comprehensive wildlife experience. There aren’t enough superlatives to express the depth of this fantastic experience.”

San Francisco, CA

“WOW! the trip of a lifetime. It was so well planned. WT thought of every little detail to make it a memorable and stress free trip. Little things like the day room at departure made a big difference. One couldn’t ask for a better guide and leader. He is so organized, calm, warm, fun and knowledgeable. He also went the extra mile at the end of the trip when one of my traveling partners had some trouble at the airport. I cannot possibly say enough positive things about him and the rest of the staff on the trip. WT pulled off what could have been a very challenging and stressful trip and made it the most amazing experience ever.”

Christina Q.

Red Lodge, MT

“This was a dream trip in all respects, one that exceeded every expectation I had. Can’t wait to travel with WT again!”

San Carlos, CA

“From the first interaction with the WT office to the last interaction with Paul on the trip, our expectations described by Wilderness Travel were fulfilled and in most cases exceeded. Kudos to all.”

“Thank you, Wilderness Travel, for putting together this wonderful experience. Our trip leaders made every minute count. We appreciated all the planning it took to juggle the tides, the winds, and the calendar to make sure we immersed in as many habitats as possible.”

“This was just about the most perfectly planned, executed, and delivered tour I have ever been on. The pace, scenic hikes, lunch picnics, dinner barbecues, cafes, and hotels were all so well planned and the food all along the way was over the top delicious. It was just awesome!”

“The trip far exceeded my expectations. I especially enjoyed the wonderful variety of activities on both land and water. Best of all was our terrific guide who went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable experience for all. Wilderness Travel comes through again!”

Honolulu, HI

“Wilderness Travel is tops when it comes to adventure travel. Food, lodging, and attention to detail are always exceptional!”

Boulder, CO

“This was the trip of a lifetime—over the top wonderful! Every day the trip became more interesting and amazing. I still wake up dreaming I am in my kayak! I have never had so much fun in my entire life.”

Brandon, SD

“The camping locations were far beyond expectations, and sunrises and sunsets beyond imagination. The balance between kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, and WW II history was perfect.”

Sorrento, BC

“Where do we start to retell our odyssey? This adventure explored the fascinating history of the area, was surrounded by picture-perfect scenery, and had extraordinary cuisine, unequaled service, and breathtaking nature and geology.”

Gus and Christine H.

“This trip exceeded my expectations and fulfilled a desire to see the Galapagos that I have had since childhood. I am still feeling the ‘glow’ of the experience.”

Princeton, WV

“This was a trip of a lifetime for my husband and me. We were celebrating our 10th anniversary and wanted something special and memorable. This trip surpassed all our dreams. We have both traveled for much of our lives, but never experienced something like this. I can’t say enough how much we loved it. Everything was superb—the guides, the camping sites, the organization, the porters, the FOOD (better than any restaurant)! Thank you.”
