U2 could be set to play Croke Park next summer, The Irish Daily Star has learned.
Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton could be set to play the Dublin stadium – almost six years after they played the GAA headquarters in 2017 as part of their Joshua Tree 30th Anniversary tour.
The Dubliners played multiple homecoming concerts at Croke Park , the first was back in 1987, and has since then played a series of dates at Croke Park in 2009 as part of their global 360 tour.

A source to the fan website U2songs.com said: “It looks like over the last few days the band have booked a stadium in Dublin for next summer. They also look like they have booked several dates for the Sofi stadium, which opens later this year, in Inglewood, California.”
A rep for the band has been contacted for comment.
It comes just weeks after it was revealed U2 could be set to take up a Las Vegas residency and be the first band in the world to play at the MSG Sphere at the Venetian in Sin City when the E2.2 billion arena opens next year.
And according to multiple sources to Billboard, U2 could also be in talks about a new tour in North America.
Fan websites heavily reported that the band had asked previous crews they had worked with in the past to keep their schedules open for June 2023, suggesting that plans for a new tour was forming.
The band’s performances will be the first dates of a multi-show residency by U2 at the high-tech arena, which is being built by Madison Square Garden Entertainment chairman James Dolan near the Venetian off the Las Vegas Strip.
Officials with MSGE describe the MSG Sphere at The Venetian as the next generation of live entertainment, offering fans a multi-sensory experience of sound and light inside the largest spherical structure ever created.
For concerts, the MSG Sphere at The Venetian can hold 20,000 standing spectators or 17,500 seated guests, with 23 VIP suites.
The Sphere will include 160,000 square feet of video viewing space (Sphere officials describe the technology as “interior immersive display”), state-of-the-art spatial audio and an exterior exosphere that changes the building’s look via fully programmable LED technology. It will connect to the Venetian Resort via an approximately 1,000-foot-long pedestrian bridge.
U2’s possible concerts at the venue will be part of a residency that will be spread out over several months and be performed on non-consecutive days.
The speculation comes just months ahead of Bono releasing his first memoir, Surrender, to mark his 62nd birthday.
The memoir's title, "Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story," refers to the book's 40 chapters, each of which will be named after a U2 song.
"When I started to write this book I was hoping to draw in detail what I'd previously only sketched in songs," Bono said at the time he announced the book.
"The people, places, and possibilities in my life. Surrender is a word freighted with meaning for me. Growing up in Ireland in the seventies with my fists up (musically speaking), it was not a natural concept.
"A word I only circled until I gathered my thoughts for the book. I am still grappling with this most humbling of commands. In the band, in my marriage, in my faith, in my life as an activist. Surrender is the story of one pilgrim’s lack of progress…with a fair amount of fun along the way."
The Dublin frontman also recently disclosed he has a half-brother he has not talked about before, who was born after his father had an affair while living at home in Dublin with Bono, his brother Norman and their mother.
Bono described the discovery, and told how he finally resolved his difficult relationship with his late father, a postal worker Brendan “Bob” Hewson, in a candid radio interview in the runup to the publication of the new book on BBC’s Desert Island Discs.
He said at the time: “I do have another who I love and adore,” he tells Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs. Bono, whose real name is Paul, refers to finding a sibling “that I didn’t know I didn’t have … or maybe I did”.
Learning of the existence of a half-brother, and of a clandestine romance, has helped Bono make sense of his father’s behaviour at the time of the sudden death of his mother, Iris, when Bono was 14. His father died in 2001.
“My father was going through a lot. His head was elsewhere because his heart was elsewhere,” Bono, 62, recalls. “I could tell my father had a deep friendship with this gorgeous woman who was part of the family and then they had a child which was all kept a secret. Nobody knew.”

Take a walk through U2’s Dublin
Dublin is known for its live gigs, and many musicians who’ve made their start here go on to play on the world stage.
But claiming the top spot for ‘local act made good’ is U2, with their huge global success. Retrace their roots and see the band’s old haunts around the city. On our trail you can stroll through U2’s Dublin and visit the places that inspired the four lads to greatness.
What better place to start than the Dublin group’s spiritual home? Bono and the boys have been selling out the country’s largest stadium since The Unforgettable Fire tour way back in 1985. Some decades on, the sporting arena has undergone a major expansion and update. You can take your experience of the city to new heights with the Skyline Tour and its breathtaking panoramas of Dublin. For traditional Irish sports fans, the stadium tour and GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) Museum provide extra excitement.
North Earl Street / Talbot Street
Stroll this busy strip leading from The Spire to Connolly Station to find several points of interest for U2 enthusiasts. The Bonavox hearing aid store at number 9 North Earl Street inspired Paul Hewson to adopt the name ‘Bono’, and the former Moran’s Hotel (now O’Shea’s) on adjoining Talbot Street was a venue of choice for the band in the 70s. Talbot Street was also on Bono’s mind when he wrote the powerful Raised by Wolves , a song about the bomb that went off here in 1974 during the Troubles.
North Wall Quay
On the River Liffey near Dublin Port, head for North Wall Quay and the 3Arena . U2 played here in 2018 on their Experience + Innocence tour. But back in the 80s when this was known as The Point Depot, highlights from a trio of shows were captured in a live album and the venue featured in the film Rattle and Hum . The music theme continues in the nearby Gibson Hotel, namesake of the famed brand of electric guitars, and there are great views of the city skyline from its Hemi bar and restaurant.
The Gibson Hotel
Hanover quay.
Cross the Samuel Beckett Bridge to the Southside and venture to a place on every U2 fan’s pilgrimage. Hanover Quay Studios was a mainstay of the band for over 20 years, instantly recognisable as the low rise building decorated with graffiti in praise of their legendary career. A short walk away at 22 Windmill Lane, parts of The Joshua Tree were recorded and mixed in 1986. Though that original building is gone, Windmill Lane Recording Studios lives on in Ringsend (around the corner from Hanover Quay), and you can stop by for a tour.
There’s a lot of regeneration underway in the area as shiny new buildings spring up, but in the meantime there’s plenty of architecture to catch the eye including the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and the Marker Hotel . The latter’s Rooftop Bar and Terrace provides stunning views of the Aviva Stadium and Boland’s Quay.
Baggot Street / St Stephen’s Green
Walk to Stephen’s Green via Baggot Street and pause at the site of the Baggot Inn along the way. It’s been given a facelift in recent years and is now a Mexican restaurant, but in a previous incarnation this was an important place in the U2 story. It was here in 1978 that the fledgling group booked a breakthrough residency that set them on the road to a glittering career.
Carry on to The Little Museum of Dublin where there’s an excellent permanent exhibition to honour the band. U2: Made in Dublin features memorabilia like the original McGonagle’s sign that graced an early venue, and a Trabant car painted by Dublin artist Maser from their Achtung Baby days. Across the road in leafy St Stephen’s Green, Bono and the Edge grazed lambs after being awarded the Freedom of Dublin in 2000 (freemen of the city having the right to pasture sheep there). In good weather you too can stop by with a picnic for some grazing of your own.
Fitzwilliam Square
Just a short walk from Grafton Street , nestled between Merrion Square and St Stephen’s Green this square marks the spot of U2’s video for The Sweetest Thing. Beautiful Georgian townhouses line either side of the square and this backdrop is instantly recognisable as the place where Bono and his wife Ali take a carriage along Fitzwilliam Place and Upper Fitzwilliam Street. The rest of the guys in the band appear too, along with a host of special guests from Boyzone to the Chippendales.
No tour of U2's Dublin would be complete without a visit to The Clarence on Wellington Quay, which is owned by Bono and the Edge. This four star boutique hotel was built in 1852 and became the night spot of choice for the lads in the 90s. In 2000, the BBC TV programme Top of The Pops filmed U2 performing their hit Beautiful Day on the hotel roof, and crowds of people gathered at vantage points along the Liffey to catch a free glimpse of the boys playing. In the same neighbourhood as The Clarence you'll find Dublin's cultural quarter Temple Bar, with its range of bohemian shops, trendy cafés and buzzing bars. From here, pop through Merchant’s Arch to find the iconic Ha'penny Bridge for the obligatory selfie as you cross the Liffey.
Further afield
There are many Northside pockets of Dublin that have U2 connections. Bono grew up on Cedarwood Road in Glasnevin, and he dedicates a song to his home on the album Songs of Innocence. While you’re here Glasnevin Cemetery is a must visit, and a pint at The Gravediggers pub wouldn’t go amiss. Songs of Innocence also recalls Bono’s happy summer days as a boy on Dollymount Strand, the glorious stretch of sand along North Dublin Bay that’s been a playground for Dubliners for generations.
Not far from Dollymount is Mount Temple Comprehensive school, where the four members of U2 first came together after Larry Mullen pinned a note on the school notice board seeking potential bandmates.
On the Southside, a stroll on Sandymount Strand provides a reminder of how frequently a young U2 were photographed here, with the distinctive striped Poolbeg Chimneys in the background. The landmark is also in their Pride (In the Name of Love) video, filmed in 1984.
Further down the coast, the picture postcard village of Dalkey is a popular stomping ground for Bono, who lives in neighbouring Killiney. The seemingly infinite view of the Irish Sea from Vico Road provided the inspiration for the album No Line on the Horizon.

Now that you’ve tracked down the places that made U2 famous, discover the ‘next big thing’ at a gig near you. Pick from a variety of festivals and events for your next night out.

In an Instagram story, Swift revealed the band had sent the flowers alongside a note that read: “Welcome back to our hometown… leave some of it standing?!!!!” The card was signed by her “fan club” — Bono , the Edge , Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.
Swift shared the gesture on her story, writing: “Already feeling that Irish hospitality!! @U2 thanks for always being the classiest & the coolest.”

Tonight (July 28) marks the first of three consecutive shows Swift will play in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.
The ‘Eras’ tour touched down in London last week, bringing with it a star-studded audience . Attendees included Hugh Grant, Prince William, Salma Hayak, Cate Blanchett, Tom Cruise, Liam Hemsworth and many more.

However, the tour hasn’t come without controversy. Earlier this week Dave Grohl , who was also performing in London with Foo Fighters , appeared to call Swift out for not performing live .
While on stage at London Stadium on Saturday (June 22), Grohl pointed out that Swift was having her own concert down the road at Wembley. After a chorus of boos from fans, Grohl told the audience: “I tell you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift. So we like to call our tour the ‘Errors Tour.’”
He added: “We’ve had more than a few eras, and more than a few fucking errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right fucking place.”

Swift seemed to indirectly respond to the quip the following night, thanking her band by saying: “Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much. And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”
Swift was also the target of a publicity stunt by climate activism group Just Stop Oil , who appeared to break into London Stansted Airport’s private airfield before allegedly spraying her private jet with orange paint. The move was part of a bid to raise awareness of climate change. Two individuals have since been arrested.

So far, the ‘Eras’ tour has proven to be an economy-boosting phenomenon for each city that’s hosted the colossal three-hour show. The London gigs alone are expected to have contributed over £300 million to the local economy, with The Greater London Authority (GLA) estimating that fans will spend an average of £471 per show, due to many travelling from further afield to see Swift.
After leaving Dublin, Swift is set to make a two-night stop in Zurich, Switzerland, before touring Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria. She’s then set to return to London to close the European leg of the ‘Eras’ tour, before heading to Canada, where she’ll be supported by Gracie Abrams.
NME were at the first UK show of the ‘Eras’ tour, which took place at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on June 7, giving the show a glowing five-star review .
Hannah Mylrea wrote: “Each era is a distinct chapter. The aforementioned visuals (which are aided by distinct colour palettes) are accompanied by wardrobes of (rapidly changed, often brilliantly bespangled) costumes for Swift and her dancers, and – of course – the differing musical worlds.
“In the live setting the synth-led sound of ‘Reputation’ is rocked up, Swift’s guitarists (she’s joined on-stage by a slick six-piece band, and four backing vocalists) shredding exuberantly. In fact, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ has never sounded better.”
She continued: “At the centre of it all is Swift herself, guiding the audience through the hit-stacked show era to era. The ringleader of the entire Eras Tour shepherds us through with razor precision, an utter pro who’s energy doesn’t waiver throughout.
“And even among the meticulously rehearsed and choreographed performance which runs like clockwork, she finds pockets of humour and moments to connect with the crowd.”

U2's Dublin infographic
Over 50 million albums sold, an all-time record of 22 Grammys, and some of the biggest tours of all time: just a few of U2’s many accomplishments. They’ve travelled the globe, they’ve performed in packed stadiums all around the world – but their heart belongs in Dublin. It’s where U2 was formed, and their connection runs so deep with the city that they cite Dublin as the inspiration behind their hugely successful album, Songs of Innocence (nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album). Like our infographic? Download it here!
Bike or walk through U2's Dublin
Windmill Lane Recording Studios, Dublin
Of course, to really get in touch with U2’s story, we have to go back… way back, to a classroom in Mount Temple Comprehensive in the Dublin neighbourhood of Clontarf 39 years ago. Yes, it all started in school with a “band members wanted” poster, tacked up on the school notice board by a 14-year-old Larry Mullen. Of the six who answered the call, three of them were future U2 members: Paul Hewson (Bono), David Evans (The Edge) and Adam Clayton. The four gathered for a jam session at Mullen’s childhood home on Rosemount Avenue (the kitchen, to be exact) and the rest, as they say, is rock and roll history.
Live music at the bar
From humble beginnings to global stardom, U2 never forgot their ties to Dublin – and vice versa. In fact, both Bono and The Edge were awarded the honorary title of "Freeman of the City of Dublin" in 2000. One of the perks of the title is the rare privilege to pasture sheep in one of Dublin’s most famous landmarks, St Stephen’s Green . Within 24 hours of being given the title, the band turned up to "the Green" with two lambs whom they christened "My Little Lamb" and "Michael Jackson". Rock ‘n’ roll indeed.
St Stephen's Green in Dublin © Shutterstock
From first gig to Freeman of the City: Long before being given honorary titles there, St Stephen’s Green was where U2 played their very first gig. Today a plaque in their honour is located on the very spot where the band made music history. There are LOTS of sights like this all over the city – and there are some you just can’t miss on your rock journey.
Oscar Wilde statue, Merrion Square, Dublin
Make sure to check out the Merrion Square statue, where Bono inscribed an Oscar Wilde quote on the stone pillars by the statue: “Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he will tell you the truth.” Or how about the Bonavox hearing aid shop, just off O’Connell Street, where Paul Hewson was christened with the nickname Bono (no, really).
Ha'penny bridge, Dublin
The Ha'penny bridge is just a pretty bridge on the Liffey, right? Well, yes, but it’s also something more. Back in the early 1980s, it was on this legendary Dublin landmark that U2 struck a pose for some early, and now iconic images. If it’s memorabilia you’re after, then look no further than The Hard Rock Café where you’ll find a Trabant car from U2's Zoo TV era, the shades Bono wore in the video for Beautiful Day and handwritten lyrics for their song Please. Not forgetting, of course, the incredible U2 exhibition in the Little Museum of Dublin : it's small, but it's wonderful.
So there you have it: you can follow U2 all over the world, but there's only one city they call home. How's that for rock and roll?

Taylor Swift Gets Flowers From Her ‘Irish Fan Club’ U2 as the Eras Tour Touches Down in Ireland
- By Larisha Paul

Taylor Swift made it through three Eras tour shows in London without once playing “London Boy,” the deep cut from her 2019 album Lover . The sentiment of the record hasn’t aged all that well, but looking ahead at her three-show run beginning in Ireland tonight, “You know I love a Dublin boy” has a better ring to it, anyway. Ahead of Swift’s string of performances at Aviva Stadium, the musician received a welcome gift from U2 , her self-proclaimed “Irish Fan Club.”
The band sent Swift a bouquet of flowers with a note reading: “Welcome back to our hometown… leave some of it standing?!!!!” The card was signed by Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr. Sharing the correspondence on her Instagram Story, Swift wrote: “Already feeling that Irish hospitality!! @U2 thanks for always being the classiest & the coolest.”

Taylor Swift’s ‘Irish fan club,’ U2, sends her a kind note ahead of her Dublin concerts
Taylor Swift got a warm welcome from Irish rockers U2 when her record-breaking "Eras Tour" arrived in their hometown of Dublin.
The "Karma" singer shared a pic of flowers and a sweet note the band sent to her June 28 in her Instagram story.
"Dear Taylor, Welcome back to our hometown ... leave some of it standing?!!!!" joked the band's members, Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr., who signed the card, "Your Irish fan club."
Swift wrote above the image, "Already feeling that Irish hospitality!! @U2, thanks for always being the classiest & the coolest," and added an Irish flag emoji.
The singer performs in the first of three Dublin concerts June 28 at Aviva Stadium.
Swift's pic of U2’s flowers and message comes almost exactly six years after she shared a photo of red roses U2 sent to her when she performed in Dublin during her 2018 “Reputation Stadium Tour.”
"Walked into my dressing room to find roses from @U2 and I WAS NOT READY FOR IT. I LOVE U2. I LOVE IRELAND. LETS DO THIS CROKE PARK!!!" she wrote at the time.
Swift kicked off the European leg of her “Eras Tour” in May with a handful of concerts in Paris before eventually moving on to the United Kingdom, where she recently wrapped three consecutive concerts at London's Wembley Stadium .
Prince William brought his kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte to the June 21 Wembley show, where he celebrated his 42nd birthday.
Other celebrities in the star-studded crowds included Hugh Grant, Cate Blanchett, Paul McCartney and Jon Bon Jovi.
Swift is scheduled to return to Wembley for additional concerts in August.

Taylor Swift thanks U2 for ‘Irish hospitality’ ahead of Dublin ‘Eras’ tour shows
U2 gave Taylor Swift her flowers ahead of her three 'Eras' tour shows in Dublin, Ireland.

Taylor Swift 's “Irish fan club” (aka U2 members Bono , The Edge , Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.) sent her a gift ahead of her three-night stay on the “Eras” tour in Dublin, Ireland.
On her Instagram story, Swift shared a picture of a bouquet sent by the band. In case the story has expired, it is seen below courtesy of @tswifterastour on X.
“Dear Taylor, Welcome back to our hometown… leave some of it standing?!!!!” their letter began. “Your Irish fan club, Bono, Edge, Adam, and Larry.”
This was a heartwarming gesture from the band. In 2022, Swift was featured on The Graham Norton Show along with Bono. Additionally, U2 presented the Best Pop Vocal Album award at the Grammys this year which Swift won for her album Midnights.
Dublin is the latest stop on Taylor Swift's European leg of the “Eras” tour. She is coming off of three shows at Wembley Stadium in London, England. After three nights in Dublin, she will go to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Who are U2?
U2 is an Irish rock band with hit anthems such as “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “Pride (In the Name of Love).” Their debut album, Boy, came out in 1980. Since then, they have released 14 studio albums.
They gained widespread acclaim for their 1987 album, The Joshua Tree. The album featured hit songs such as “With or Without You” and “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.” After following that up with Rattle and Hum, they reinvented themselves in the nineties.
Achtung Baby ushered in a new era for U2 in 1991. This new experimentation led to Zooropa and Pop in 1993 and 1997, respectively. Since 2000, they have released six albums.
Most recently, they released Songs of Surrender. The album was a collection of 40 re-recorded songs from their back catalog to tie in with Bono's memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story.
Additionally, the band just wrapped their first-ever concert residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas. U2 celebrated Achtung Baby with a 40-show stay at the new venue. They were the first band to play there. Phish and Dead and Company have followed with the Eagles set to take over in the fall.
Taylor Swift's “Eras” tour
Taylor Swift is entrenched in her most ambitious tour to date. The “Eras” tour is a three-hour show with 40+ songs played each night from her various albums. It takes fans on a journey through her discography.
The tour commenced on March 17, 2023, with a show in Glendale, Arizona. Swift spent most of 2023 touring North America before closing out the year with shows in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.
2024's “Eras” tour kicked off in February with 11 shows across Japan and Australia. After a brief six-night stay in Singapore, Swift took a two-month hiatus. She resumed the “Eras” tour on May 9 with a show in Nanterre, France.
The European leg of the tour will conclude with six shows at Wembley Stadium in London, England, from August 15-20. Swift will then return to North America to play nine shows in the United States and nine in Canada.

U2 (formed in 1976) is a highly-successful Irish rock band, formed of Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen, Jr. and Adam Clayton, hailing from Dublin, Ireland.
Formed in 1976 after Larry Mullen, Jr. posted an advertisement on the bulletin board at Dublin’s Mount Temple Comprehensive, the band soon began practicing regularly and exploring their musical interests. Initially performing under the moniker The Hype before switching to the name of an American spy plane, the band’s popularity grew in Ireland through a string of independent releases.
The band signed to Isalnd Records and released their debut full-length “Boy” in 1980, followed the year after with the LP “October”. Thanks to American radio play and notoriously impressive live shows, U2 soon made name for themselves a procured a swelling fan base. U2’s subsequent release “War” in 1983 highlighted and cemented the band’s political conscious approach, documenting the unrest in Northern Ireland. The album which debuted at No. 1 on the British chart, spawned the politically-apt singles “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “New Year’s Day”. Following another whirlwind worldwide tour in 1983 U2 released the live EP “Under a Blood Red Sky” recorded at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, U.S.
U2 went on to release “The Unforgettable Fire” in 1984, the fruit of a collaboration with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, despite Island Records’ reluctance. Again the band supported the release with historic arena performances including Live Aid and were even named Rolling Stone’s “Band of the ‘80s”.
By the mid-1980s U2 had become highly revered musicians, however did not become rock superstars until their 1987 album “The Joshua Tree”. It became the band’s first No. 1 U.S. hit and their third consecutive UK album to reach the top spot, certified platinum within 28 hours. The album’s success was due in part to the smash hits “With or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”. Following the release the band explored their fascination with American roots music including blues, soul and folk and delivered the album “Rattle & Hum” in 1988.
The ‘90s brought a novel-sounding U2 and a collection of albums to boot including 1990’s “Achtung Baby”, the Bowie inspired dance and electronic album, “Zooropa” the 1993 techno dance influenced album, and the collaborative album “Original Soundtracks, Vol. 1” with Brian Eno in 1995. The same year U2 renewed their contract with Island Records for an estimated $170 million.
Fan disgruntlement at U2’s new self-conscious, postmodern and dance approach did little to alter the outcome of their subsequent album “Pop”, and ultimately became fan’s least favourite album. With such criticism the band teamed up again with Eno and Lanois in 2000 to record and release “All That You Can’t Leave Behind”. The album was a rock effort and considered one of their best, led by the singles “Beautiful Day” and “Walk On”.
The band followed the release up with the No. 1 album “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” in 2004, which led to the second highest grossing tour ever with $389 million. U2’s twelfth studio album “No Line on the Horizon” arrived in 2009, followed by "Songs of Innocence" in 2014, downloaded automatically to users of apple products.
U2 have sold more than 150 million records worldwide, have been awarded 22 Grammy Awards, have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility and are ranked by Rolling Stone 22nd on their list of “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.
Live reviews
What makes a U2 concert so special? What is it about a U2 show that compels us to travel hundreds and thousands of miles to see virtually the same concert over and over?
A U2 show is more than just the songs in the concert. It is the feeling you get when you hear those songs. Whether they lift you up or remind you of a special time in your life, either way, the feeling you get when you hear U2 songs is euphoric. But a U2 concert is more than just those euphoric songs that are played. It is 80,000 people singing those songs together. The fact that each person at that show is feeling the exact same excitement you are. It is a sense of community and belonging. More than just the U2 concert itself, it is the whole experience. The traveling and hanging out with fellow U2 fans. The day of the U2 concert is a great time for U2 fellowship since we arrive at the stadium in the early afternoon either to line up in the GA (general admission) line or to wait for Bono, Larry, Edge and Adam to arrive. With many hours to kill before the concert begins, U2 fans share their U2 experiences, such as favorite songs, albums and concerts.
My favorite U2 concert, of the 75 I have seen, was on the Elevation Tour in Providence, Rhode Island on October 31, 2001. It was my favorite U2 member's 40th birthday, drummer Larry Mullen Jr. It was the night Larry and I shared a drink. The morning of the show, I woke up outside around 8am – pretty good sleeping outside in 30 degrees for five hours. I went up to the warm hotel room until about 10am, then had some breakfast. I stayed in the GA line all day without leaving, except to take a shower around 3:30. I got everyone in the GA line to sign the big orange birthday card I made for Larry. I put my name and email address on the back just in case. The band didn’t arrive until after we were inside. Wearing our Larry Mullen Band shirts, we got our spots at the rail up front and center between Bono and Adam.
I held up my birthday card for Larry as they walked on stage, but he didn’t notice it. There were many, many signs including one saying, ‘Bono let Larry sing.’ During Elevation, Bono sang, ‘ Celebration’ then said, ‘Happy Birthday.' After "Stuck in a Moment," Larry’s 40th birthday celebration began. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Larry. A birthday cake was brought out, and Larry pretended to throw it out into the audience. Larry took the mic and came to the front to talk while Bono sat behind the drums. Larry said, "Bono can’t play drums. It took me 40 years to get up front. I’m glad I’m spending my birthday with 18,000 of my closest friends. I feel like I could borrow money from you." Then Bono asked for a bottle of champagne, which he shook up a la ZooTV and sprayed the audience. Edge took a swig, then Larry drank and continued to drink for the next few songs.
After "Kite," Larry got off the drums and made a B line for me. I got my card and shirt in hand so I could give it to him, but that’s not why he was there. He gave me the champagne bottle – with champagne still in it. I drank some and shared it with my friends. Larry wanted to share his birthday with ME! He wanted ME to have a drink on his birthday. I was SO excited I didn’t even realize they played "Wild Honey," which they rarely play. After "Pride," Larry came back over to me so I could give him the birthday card and Elvis tee shirt. I said, "Thank you. Happy Birthday." He smiled and said, "Thank You." Later on, Bono noticed our Larry Mullen Band shirts, shook his head and smiled.
I doubt there will ever be another U2 show like that night in Providence. Granted it was Larry’s 40th Birthday, and I love Larry, but also for the rarities U2 played that night. "Slow Dancing" was played for the first time on the Elevation tour, and only the 11th time ever. "Party Girl" and "Wild Honey" were played for the first time on that leg of Elevation – and I’ve only heard those songs a couple of times ever. There was just a great energy in Providence that night. I still have that champagne bottle that Larry gave me on his 40th birthday.

...............................................
Good Morning,
I accompany the band since 1985, in the days of long or compact disc and my first album, the first record I bought was "War". I have always known the social and political position of the group, I think it is what caught my attention and captivated me from the beginning. But here in Brazil, we live in difficult times, of belligerence and intolerance of diverse forms, racial, social, and religious. An apolitical society, but that bases its beliefs on what the local press determines.
I think this is the best Tour I've been on, seeing it as my second time at a U2 show. I was in Vertigo in 2006 and even going through a delicate time, since I was taking medication for panic syndrome and depression, I left the stadium 90% better than when I arrived.
The current tour is one of the best, if not the best, as well as the group's album and if it could go in all, fantastic Setilist, minimalist lighting and stage and referring to a simplicity of the beginning of the bands shows. Congratulations and many more ........
Let me begin with, "U2 is the greatest band in the universe!" I have a strong connection with the band as the Joshua Tree tour was the first concert I ever attended back in 1987. 28 years later, they are still the best live band. I have been very fortunate to have seen them for most of their tours, Elevation, Vertigo, 360 and now ie. I was a broke college student during Zoo and PopMart.
U2 has a very loyal fan base. You will meet people that have seen 50-400 of their concerts. I am fortunate to have seen them 4x already during this tour.
The live experience during the ie tour is very personal and intimate. Bono shows such strong emotion during Iris which makes you want to cry. I heard Out Of Control at the 2nd Phoenix show and I had tears of joy rolling down my cheeks as that was the one song I have been waiting to hear since Elevation. LA 4th show they played 40 which made me cry......."How Long To Sing This Song......." Such a great tribute to the late Dennis Sheehan. Bono is the perfect frontman, always introducing the band as if we are meeting them for the first time. (Brandon Flowers never introduces the other Killers) Bono always has crowd interaction from shaking hands, kissing women's hands, bringing up a lucky fan for the Meerkat live stream and singing to a lucky fan (like me during Beautiful Day in the 2nd night Phoenix show) I'm still on cloud 9!!! Larry, The Edge and Adam also interact with the crowd. I know first hand as I got an air kiss from Adam. The Edge smiled at my friend. Larry shakes hands with people at the e stage.
I can go on and on how U2 is the perfect band. No other bands compare to them. What band has loyal fans waiting all night thru rain and hail to see them? What band always mentions how they tour for the music and the fans?? I sure don't think they need the money.
I will continue to see them until they tour no more. I ❤️ U2
Great show, very basic staging, which is a nice change of pace for U2 recently. It allowed you to focus on them as a band, 4 guys playing music together.
As a tour kick off, there will be some glitches and bugs, the worst of which is when The band and Bono totally flubbed the entire song With or Without You!!! The band was out of sync right from the start and that must have rattled Bono because he false started the first verse, got the lyrics wrong, then just stood there silent while the crowd sort of tried to chime in with the vocals. It was actually pretty awkward, and Bono didn't acknowledge it except by saying "you guys can sing this one".
It was so great to see them actually play Joshua Tree straight through, track by track. I wasn't sure that's how it would really play out. As an album about the greatness, and hardships, of America, with inspiration from American music, landscapes, and especially politics, there was no way to get through the set without nods (mostly subtle - for U2) to the current leadership in America. The opening 8-9 songs before actually launching into Joshua Tree were pretty telling about the bands politics and values of freedom, truth, and fulfilling the American dream. The fact that opening night coincidentally fell on the 60th anniversary of the Martin Luther King "Give Us the Vote" speech gave more weight to lyrics referencing King's assassination in "Pride (In the Name of Love)".
Finally, totally unrelated to Songkick or U2, but I have to say how HORRIBLE Levi's Stadium is and the whole process of getting there (unmanaged traffic), getting into the venue (no purses bigger than a cell phone allowed and no mention of that fact anywhere), getting food (seemed like only 25 people trying to sell hot dogs to 50,000!). Will never see another show there again no matter who the act is.
This show needed to start and finish in darkness to concentrate the mind on the amazing imagery and truly iconic music.
The lead in through tracks from Unforgettable Fire set the pace and raised the pulse rate to a crescendo at the onset of Where The Streets Have No Name where it remained at rates which would have set off many a hospital vital signs alarm until the end of the a play through of the entire Joshua Tree album.
Had this concert finished there it would have sad to depart - and U2 knew this so included a further array of some of their finest tracks from the last 30 years.
This was the trickiest period of the gig however, as not all of the next 35 - 40 minutes could match the standard set down by some of the best music of the 20th century. Moments of oddness crept in, as is Bono's way, and momentum was lost - not gained - towards the end.
Ultimately, an incredible visionary onslaught and a truly mammoth rendition of One lifted the gig back to the heights of its earlier euphoria.
This could easily have been the best concert I have ever seen, but on balance it dropped short. I would not have missed this for the world and I am sure I will look back in years to come and feel so pleased that I was there and saw what was a true moment in musical history. As it stands right now I have a mixed emotion... but there is no denying that of the many hundreds of concerts I have been to in the last 40 years this was right up there at the very pinnacle - a top ten bucket list moment.
U2 at Arrowhead Stadium in KC was a musical memory I'll put in my Top 10...so far. We got parking lot passes from Ticketmaster beforehand to save $$ & make navigating the throngs of traffic manageble. We got to the lot about 5:30 p.m. People had been there tailgating & the lot attendants were very organized, flagging us in to our spot. We immediately headed in to the Stadium so we could check out the U2 merchandise. Entering was a breeze, even with security, because we had checked online to see what could or couldn't be taken into the Stadium. The restrictions make lines move much quicker, even with entering through metal detectors. Walking up the ramp to our seat level was easy. U2 had merchandise areas set up at more locations, so lines there were less. The concession places had very friendly attendants. The stadium seats were very comfortable. Security was there in abundance & were also helpful & friendly. Concert acoustics for an open stadium were amazing. The only downside was the placement of the
audio towers or whatever they were, but they were necessary to provide the incredible U2 audio & visual experience. After the concert, we waited for an hour on purpose before exiting to avoid sitting in traffic, idling. Again, smooth exit. So I highly recommend seeing U2 for their musical talent, their political message & celebrating the 4th anniversary of the Joshua Tree album. ENJOY!
U2 are a band who have conquered the globe and are considered iconic by fans of most genres. With such staggering reputation it is obviously quite difficult to form a live show of equal stature. Luckily, Bono and co obtain a form of bravado that is required of any iconic band.
The key component of their gigs is that they understand how important and dear the audience hold tracks such as 'With Or Without You' and the intense sincerity in which they perform could not be more appropriate. There is an ethereal state when thousands upon thousands are singing along to 'The Streets Have No Name' whilst four musicians command the entire crowd.
There is no denying Bono performs with the same level of self-assuredness that he conducts himself in daily life yet when the opening bars of 'Pride' begin, this level of bombast is required to tackle these gargantuan anthems. They have an impossible amount of hits to choose from, yet the setlist feels well calculated and not simply a 'greatest hits' compilation. The use of snippets of their own music and classics by the likes of Bowie turned their gig from a concert into a musical celebration.
The concert was awesome but the venue was absolute crap!!!!! Paid $264.00 x 2 & a tower was blocking the view depending where the band was standing on the stage. So view blocked. Support act Noel Gallagher couldn’t hear him speak, don’t know what he was saying & sound not too good at all.
U2 came on & could hardly see them. GA would have been better & cheaper & from what Ive heard, they had the best place to hear.
SCG is not a good venue for a concert & we were so totally disappointed with what we paid, seating & going to ground & trying so squeeze through the line ups for toilets & good to get to the Merchandise shop. Then trying to get back up to level 5.
Please never put a concert there again, unless you our stage in centre, so everyone can see. You shouldn’t charge extreme prices for crap seating.
U2 was awesome as always but couldn’t always see them & at times hear them, the sound got better as the night went on.
Definitely very disappointed with SCG
Amazing concert as always. Lot of security at the entrances so it was a little bit slow everything and I was afraid because maybe I couldn't watch Noel Gallagher but organization was clever and started one hour later more or less. Really it was very difficult to be there at 19 with that security level. But everything was perfect. Noel played lot of Oasis songs with classics like Wonderwall, Little by Little or Don't Look Back in Anger. Then with less than 20 minutes delay, U2 came on stage. Larry Mullen started alone in the middle of the scenario situated at the center of the stadium and it all began... Thanks for allow us to remember a great album like Joshua Tree! All the songs in order, side A and side B if you like more the vinyl. And the last part... Amazing with songs like Elevation or Vertigo. And one last surprise... We could listen a new song from the upcoming album, Songs of Experience. No more to say: GREAT AS ALWAYS U2. We love you!
Best concert I've ever seen and probably will ever see save for another U2 show. No seat was a bad seat as they had a massive 'screen' that spanned roughly half the length and a third of the height of MSG. The screen could be lowered and raised and there was a catwalk inside of it as well as under it on the floor for the band members to move around on. Animations and live videos of the band members playing were projected onto the screen and could be interacted with inside of the screen. I've never seen anything like it.
They had a great mix of classic U2 songs and new ones all while using mixed media to create much more than a music concert. This was a retrospective art show, film screening, advocacy platform, etc. A final treat was Bruce Springsteen coming on near the end of the show trading mics with Bono to sing Where the Streets Have No Name. You have got to see this band live.

Taylor Swift Gushes Over ‘Coolest’ Welcome to Ireland From U2: ‘Your Irish Fan Club’
Taylor Swift gushed over U2’s support after receiving a sweet gift when she landed in their home country of Ireland for her Eras Tour .
“Already feeling that Irish hospitality!!” Swift, 34, wrote via her Instagram Story on Friday, June 28, revealing that the Irish band — made up of Bono , The Edge , Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. — sent her a bouquet of flowers. “@U2 thanks for always being the classiest & coolest.”
In addition to the roses and orchids that U2 sent, they penned a heartfelt message to Swift since she’s performing three days in Dublin this weekend.

“Dear Taylor, Welcome back to our hometown … leave some of it standing?!!!!” the group teased, referring to Swift’s fans creating earthquakes at several tour stops. U2 signed the card, “Your Irish fan club, Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry.”
Swift’s warm welcome comes ahead of her Dublin shows at Aviva Stadium on Friday, Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30.
The Grammy winner is fresh off a three-day stint at London’s Wembley Stadium. While the shows were a massive success — and featured boyfriend Travis Kelce ’s stage debut — Swift received some criticism from Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl while in town.
Grohl, 55, dissed Swift during one his band’s Saturday, June 22, show in London, alleging that the pop star doesn’t perform her songs live.
“I know we were joking about the Taylor Swift tour earlier. I know that she’s on her Eras Tour ,” he told the crowd, teasing, “I’m telling you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift.”

Grohl then poked fun at Swift’s world tour , which began in March 2023, saying, “So we like to call our tour ‘The Errors Tour’ because I feel like we’ve had more than a few eras and more than a few f—king errors as well.”
He quipped: “That’s because we actually play live. What? Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f–king place.”
Swift seemingly fired back at Grohl’s claims during her Sunday, June 23, show in England’s capital. “Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much,” she told her fans. “And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”

While Swift got some shade from Grohl, she received a lot of positive support from celebrities in attendance at her shows, including Prince William , who brought his eldest kids Prince George and Princess Charlotte to the June 21 concert. William, 42, posed backstage for a selfie with Swift and his children, as well as Kelce, 34, who was in town to cheer on his girlfriend .

Hugh Grant was among the A-listers who took in one of Swift’s shows in London and gushed about the experience .
“Dear @taylorswift13, You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team and excellent if gigantic boyfriend (#tequilashots.),” Grant, 63, wrote via X after seeing Night 2 of the concert. “Thanks so much from one aging London boy, wife and thrilled 8-year-old #halfgirlhalfbracelet.”
Swift was in awe of Grant’s sweet message, writing back on Monday, June 24, “As a long time Hugh Grant stan this tweet is very important to my culture.”

109-yards long "Ireland (Taylor's Version)" sign installed on Dublin Beach ahead of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows in the city
T aylor Swift kicked off the Ireland leg of her Eras Tour on June 28, 2024, at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The Shake It Off singer is set to play in Ireland for three nights till June 30, 2024.
As a gesture of welcoming the singer to Ireland, a 109-yard-long installation reading "Ireland (Taylor's Version) was created, laid out, and shot on a Dublin beach at sunrise time. The sign was commissioned by Today FM in collaboration with Mack Signs and it took a team of seven people to create the sign in a week.
Spanning 100 meters in width, the sign is as large as the length of two Olympic swimming pools.
The last time Swift played in Ireland was in 2018 wherein she performed for two nights at the Croke Park during her Reputation world tour.
"I have a bone to pick with Taylor Swift": Irish politician Simon Harris comments on singer's arrival to Ireland
About 50,000 fans are expected to witness Taylor Swift's Eras Tour for each of the three nights in Ireland and the stadium is packed with the singer's merchandise for fans to avail of.
The Bridge Pub near the Aviva Stadium has also announced a list of Swift's album-themed cocktails to celebrate the singer's arrival. Additionally, Dublin is buzzing with quizzes on Swift, spin classes with her music, bracelet-making classes, and brunches themed on the Fortnight singer.
In the anticipation and excitement surrounding Swift's arrival to Ireland, Irish politician Taoiseach Simon Harris told The Irish Mirror on June 28, 2024, that he won't be attending any of the gigs over the weekend but would like an opportunity to meet the singer to sort out an issue.
The Taoiseach and leader of Fine Gael told the publication:
"I have a bone to pick with Taylor Swift, actually,"
Talking about the same, Simon Harris mentioned that he is delighted to have her in Ireland and the issue he has with her is that she took a pebble from a beach in Greystones which she sings about in her song Sweet Nothing.
The song, co-written by Swift's alleged ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, mentions how the duo picked up a pebble from a beach in Wicklow- a country in Ireland where Joe Alwyn filmed his series Conversations With Friends.
Joking about the pebble, Simon Haris told the publication:
"Greystones being my hometown, I'm very pleased that Taylor enjoys Wicklow. But I'd like my pebble back."
Additionally, the politician did mention that he was joking and would like to "know a little bit more" about the pebble-picking instance Swift has mentioned in her song.
He also added that while Swift won't have the time to visit Wicklow this time, she's welcome and that Simon would be delighted to show her more locations and pebbles in the town of Greystones.
The 109-yard-long sign installation on a Dublin beach wasn't the only welcome Taylor Swift received before starting off the Ireland leg of her Eras Tour. On June 28, the Blank Space singer took to Instagram stories to showcase a bouquet sent by the Irish band, U2.
The note with the bouquet read:
"Dear Taylor, welcome back to our hometown…leave some of it standing?!!!!" the legendary musicians wrote. Your Irish fan club, Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry."
Taylor Swift captioned the story calling U2 the "classiest and coolest", mentioning she was already feeling the "Irish hospitality".

U2Tours Updates: Spring 2023
As always, we’re improving U2Tours.com to make it easier to use and more accurate. Here’s a look at what’s changed, what’s been added, and what’s coming up in the future.
Stories of Surrender
Bono recently wrapped up his “Stories of Surrender” tour in Naples, Italy . In all, he performed his show 33 times for audiences all over the world. We enjoyed seeing it during the recent “Bono At The Beacon” run in New York City, which was excellent. However, this tour presented us with some difficult choices. Not only was it the first tour featuring only one member of U2, but “Stories of Surrender” was also not a concert in the traditional sense. We saw it was a one-act, one-person play. That said, we still wanted to document Bono’s performances of U2 songs but recognize them differently.
Bono’s “Stories of Surrender Tour” is now separated from all other U2 Tours in our Tour Navigation bar. The shows will still count toward overall statistics, like how many times a particular song was performed. If you have an account with us, any of these shows will also count toward your overall attendance numbers. We just wanted to recognize the uniqueness of “Stories of Surrender” in the grand scheme of U2 concerts. So if you’re looking for more information on Bono’s solo performances, you’ll find them under “Solo Bono Tours” in our pull-down menu and our “All Tours” list. Or you could click here .
A new tour section also covers Bono’s appearances promoting the “Stories of Surrender” tour. You can find those dates here , or choose “ Stories of Surrender Promo Tour ” from the dropdown menu.
If you attended one (or more) of these shows, register for an account with us and add it to your concert history!
U2:UV: Achtung Baby Live At Sphere
U2’s residency in Las Vegas is quickly approaching! Once the opening weekend arrives, we’ll have setlists and other notes for you. In the meantime, visit the U2:UV tour page for a complete list of dates .
Promo Tours Added
We’ve added sections for both the “Songs of Surrender” Promo Tour and Bono’s “Stories of Surrender” Promo Tour .
Site Enhancements
Aside from our content, our big project recently has been to clean up and simplify U2Tours so that it runs more quickly and smoothly. U2Tours was built out of the old AtU2.com site, which was much bigger and more complex. Our hosts have been cleaning up behind the scenes and making adjustments to improve your visiting experience. We’ll have more of these changes coming, but we hope your visits are smoother now.
Early Irish Shows
Back in 2018, when U2Tours was part of AtU2, we embarked on a project to improve our “ Early Irish Shows ” section, mainly the years from 1977 up until the start of the Boy Tour. Aaron Govern led this research, and we turned up a lot of good information and made some exciting additions. It was a massive undertaking resulting in many new dates, songs, opening acts, newspaper clippings, and ads. Between the end of AtU2, the pandemic, our personal lives, and the transition period bringing U2Tours back to life, we haven’t been able to continue this project in earnest until recently. We’re happy to share that we’re back at it, using a combination of online and newspaper archive research to find old dates, setlists, and other information. We have a lot of new data to add; eagle-eyed visitors may even spot some new shows and songs in our database's Early Irish Shows section. There is so much about these years that we don’t know, so we suspect this project will never really end. We’ll always be on the lookout.
And if you happen to have any information that can help, please let us know!
What’s Next?
So what does the future hold? First, we will make additional layout changes and performance upgrades as resources allow. You can also expect to see us expand our social media presence a bit, especially as we approach Fall 2023 and U2’s upcoming shows at the Sphere . As always, our goal is to provide you, the U2 fan, with information about as many U2 concerts as possible.
That’s all for now. See you on the road!

So long, London — hello, Dublin!
U2 gave Taylor Swift a warm welcome upon her arrival in Ireland by sending her flowers and a card ahead of her Eras Tour shows in Dublin.
The “All Too Well” singer, 34, posted a photo of a beautiful bouquet of yellow and pink roses and a note signed by the Irish band to her Instagram Story on Friday.
“Dear Taylor, welcome back to our hometown…Leave some of it standing?!!!!” read the letter from Bono, 64, The Edge, 62, Adam Clayton, 64, and Larry Mullen Jr., 62.
The musicians referred to themselves as Swift’s “Irish fan club” before signing their names.
The pop star didn’t hold back from sharing her excitement over the sweet message while thanking the rockers for their kind welcome.
“Already feeling that Irish hospitality!!” Swift captioned the post. “@U2, thanks for always being the classiest & coolest.”
The “With Or Without You” artists returned the appreciation by re-posting Swift’s photo to their own Instagram Story.
The band formed in 1976 when the members were teenage students at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in Dublin.

Bono has been open about his love for Swift’s music and admitted to being a “Swiftie” during an appearance with the singer on the “Graham Norton Show” in 2022.
When Nortan asked if Bono and Swift had ever worked together, Swift replied, “Not yet. We’re gonna talk about it later.”
Swift is set to take the stage at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Paramore will be opening for the “Anti-Hero” vocalist.
From there, Swift will travel to Amsterdam and Zürich before making her way to Italy for a few performances in Milan.
It’s unclear if her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, will be present at her Dublin shows.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended all three of Swift’s concerts in London last week, where other celebrities in the audience included Tom Cruise , Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher, Hugh Grant, “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig, Salma Hayek and Foo Fighters’ member Pat Smear .
Swift surprised the audience by bringing the “New Heights” podcast host on stage during her last show at Wembley Stadium.

Concerts and tour dates of U2
U2 are an Irish rock band from Dublin formed in 1976. The group consists of Bono (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), the Edge (lead guitar, keyboards, and backing vocals), Adam Clayton (bass guitar), and Larry Mullen Jr. (drums and percussion). Initially rooted in post-punk, U2's musical style evolved throughout their career, yet has maintained an anthemic sound built on Bono's expressive vocals and the Edge's effects-based guitar textures. Their lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal and sociopolitical themes. Popular for their live performances, the group have staged several ambitious and elaborate tours over their career. The band formed at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in 1976 when the members were teenagers with limited musical proficiency. Within four years, they signed with Island Records and released their debut album, Boy (1980). Subsequent work such as their first UK number-one album, War (1983), and the singles "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "Pride (In the Name of Love)" helped establish U2's reputation as a politically and socially conscious group. By the mid-1980s, they had become renowned globally for their live act, highlighted by their performance at Live Aid in 1985. The group's fifth album, The Joshua Tree (1987), made them international superstars and was their greatest critical and commercial success. Topping music charts around the world, it produced their only number-one singles in the US, "With or Without You" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". Facing creative stagnation and a backlash following their documentary/double album, Rattle and Hum (1988), U2 reinvented themselves in the 1990s through a new musical direction and public image. Beginning with their acclaimed seventh album, Achtung Baby (1991), and the multimedia intensive Zoo TV Tour, the band integrated influences from alternative rock, electronic dance music, and industrial music into their sound, and embraced a more ironic, flippant image. This experimentation continued through their ninth album, Pop (1997), and the PopMart Tour, which were mixed successes. U2 regained critical and commercial favour with the records All That You Can't Leave Behind (2000) and How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (2004), which established a more conventional, mainstream sound for the group. Their U2 360° Tour of 2009–2011 is the highest-attended and highest-grossing concert tour in history. The group's thirteenth album, Songs of Innocence (2014), was released at no cost through the iTunes Store, but received criticism for its automatic placement in users' music libraries. U2 have released 13 studio albums and are one of the world's best-selling music artists in history, having sold more than 170 million records worldwide. They have won 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other band, and in 2005, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. Rolling Stone ranked U2 at number 22 on its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". Throughout their career, as a band and as individuals, they have campaigned for human rights and philanthropic causes, including Amnesty International, Jubilee 2000, the ONE/DATA campaigns, Product Red, War Child, and Music Rising.
